Consumer IoT devices may suffer malware attacks, and be recruited into botnets or worse. There is evidence that generic advice to device owners to address IoT malware can be successful, but this does not account for emerging forms of persistent IoT malware. Less is known about persistent malware, which resides on persistent storage, requiring targeted manual effort to remove it. This paper presents a field study on the removal of persistent IoT malware by consumers. We partnered with an ISP to contrast remediation times of 760 customers across three malware categories: Windows malware, non-persistent IoT malware, and persistent IoT malware. We also contacted ISP customers identified as having persistent IoT malware on their network-attached storage devices, specifically QSnatch. We found that persistent IoT malware exhibits a mean infection duration many times higher than Windows or Mirai malware; QSnatch has a survival probability of 30% after 180 days, whereby most if not all other observed malware types have been removed. For interviewed device users, QSnatch infections lasted longer, so are apparently more difficult to get rid of, yet participants did not report experiencing difficulty in following notification instructions. We see two factors driving this paradoxical finding: First, most users reported having high technical competency. Also, we found evidence of planning behavior for these tasks and the need for multiple notifications. Our findings demonstrate the critical nature of interventions from outside for persistent malware, since automatic scan of an AV tool or a power cycle, like we are used to for Windows malware and Mirai infections, will not solve persistent IoT malware infections.

With growing populations and pressing environmental problems, future economies will be increasingly plant-based. Now is the time to reimagine plant science as a critical component of fundamental science, agriculture, environmental stewardship, energy, technology and healthcare. This effort requires a conceptual and technological framework to identify and map all cell types, and to comprehensively annotate the localization and organization of molecules at cellular and tissue levels. This framework, called the Plant Cell Atlas (PCA), will be critical for understanding and engineering plant development, physiology and environmental responses. A workshop was convened to discuss the purpose and utility of such an initiative, resulting in a roadmap that acknowledges the current knowledge gaps and technical challenges, and underscores how the PCA initiative can help to overcome them.

- Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Some investigations indicate the causes and consequences of early school leaving. These have been largely revised in the literature. This reality has prompted the appearance of second-chance devices that offer training opportunities to young people with previous experiences of school failure. This study analyzes the students’ profiles in second chance programs, the degree of engagement and expectations about their future. METHOD: A questionnaire was applied to a sample of 1119 young enrolled in Second Chance Schools (E2O) during 2021-2022. The questionnaire presents questions about the school experience before E2O, degree of satisfaction with E2O, and short-term future expectations, in addition to sociodemographic questions. RESULTS: Descriptive analyzes, multiple crossings, and logarithmic regression models confirm that the social and academic students’ profile in E2O is diverse; though situations of vulnerability predominate, we identified a significant representation of young people with a negative school experience, but a normalized family situation. Results allow saying that E2O pedagogical model helps to remake the training trajectories of this population. Reentry/continuity in training appears as the majority expectation among young people; however, the relationship between the objective of entering the labor market and reintegration into training shows a complex combination. DISCUSSION: The results are partially in line with previous studies. However, we found novel results that need more contrast. To deepen the analysis of the family structure of the youth served in E2O, to better understand the training model to assess its transfer to secondary schools, and to deepen the understanding of the typology of second-chance schools., INTRODUCCIÓN: Son varias las causas y consecuencias del abandono escolar prematuro.

- Abstract
Large-scale genotype and phenotype data have been increasingly generated to identify genetic markers, understand gene function and evolution and facilitate genomic selection. These datasets hold immense value for both current and future studies, as they are vital for crop breeding, yield improvement and overall agricultural sustainability. However, integrating these datasets from heterogeneous sources presents significant challenges and hinders their effective utilization. We established the Genotype-Phenotype Working Group in November 2021 as a part of the AgBioData Consortium (https://www.agbiodata.org) to review current data types and resources that support archiving, analysis and visualization of genotype and phenotype data to understand the needs and challenges of the plant genomic research community. For 2021-22, we identified different types of datasets and examined metadata annotations related to experimental design/methods/sample collection, etc. Furthermore, we thoroughly reviewed publicly funded repositories for raw and processed data as well as secondary databases and knowledgebases that enable the integration of heterogeneous data in the context of the genome browser, pathway networks and tissue-specific gene expression. Based on our survey, we recommend a need for (i) additional infrastructural support for archiving many new data types, (ii) development of community standards for data annotation and formatting, (iii) resources for biocuration and (iv) analysis and visualization tools to connect genotype data with phenotype data to enhance knowledge synthesis and to foster translational research. Although this paper only covers the data and resources relevant to the plant research community, we expect that similar issues and needs are shared by researchers working on animals. Objective: To interpret the experiences related to the acquisition of academic literacy skills of nursing students in their last year at two public universities in Colombia and Ecuador. Methodology: Study with an interpretive, qualitative, hermeneutic phenomenological, cross-sectional approach. Data collection was through a semi-structured interview until data saturation. The sample was selected intentionally. Results: The development of academic literacy skills in nursing students is done autonomously, by imitation or taking as a guide what is taught by the teacher. The greatest difficulties occur at the beginning of the course when they do not understand the disciplinary terminology, as well as academic writing without using colloquial language, so they experience different feelings and experiences according to the degree of acquisition of generic or specific nursing competencies. Conclusion: Academic literacy is one of the first competencies to develop in nursing students, with significant learning to be able to complete their degree studies without major difficulties at the time of preparing their degree works. It is important to take up the students voices from their experiences, since it allows search for appropriate strategies to improve the process in the acquisition of academic literacy skills., Objetivo: interpretar las experiencias relacionadas con la adquisición de competencias en lectoescritura académica de estudiantes de la carrera de enfermería que cursan el último año en dos universidades públicas de Colombia y Ecuador.

- Abstract
Over the years, technological advances have had a great impact worldwide, so the use of technology has increased more and more. That is why hosting companies use it with the purpose of improving and optimizing the different processes, thus offering a better and faster service. A study is carried out on the quality of customer service at the Selina Cuenca hotel, using the ServQual model, which refers to a survey applied to each of the guests, demonstrating that the establishment has a low level of quality in customer service due to the lack of technological application. Based on the data obtained, the implementation of WhatsApp, Alexa, chatbot and QR codes is proposed as a way to streamline processes, thus making the Selina chain a pioneer in using technology to provide high quality services in customer service. One way for Selina to change the way it provides services is by managing reservations through WhatsApp and bots, because they allow to maintain effective communication, quick responses and personalized service. Through the proposal of technology use in the hotel, the guest will be allowed to request information and services without having to leave the room, however, this implementation will further highlight the main characteristic of the Selina chain, which is to promote and provide spaces in which cultures can be exchanged, experiences, making new friends, etc.

- Abstract
Aim: To identify the impact of the Covid crisis upon students in second chance schools, their living conditions and expectations; and to show the reaction of these schools to the needs caused by the crisis. Method: Quantitative and some qualitative results are provided of three surveys conducted in accredited second chance schools in Spain in the schoolyears 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. These are data gathered for a research contract with the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the Spanish Association of Second Chance Schools and a R+D project funded by the Generalitat Valenciana. In the first two studies we counted on data from 40 and 43 accredited second chance schools, while in the third one we report data from 28 such schools. Students replied to these questionnaires, and interviews were also conducted with headteachers and staff, as well as group discussions with students; with some questions focusing upon the impact of Covid on students, schools, work placements as well as on living conditions and expectations of students. Conclusions: The results are commented in contrast with recent studies about the profile of youth attending these schools and they show that these youth, who was already in a vulnerable position before Covid, has suffered its consequences particularly in economic living conditions and to a lesser extent in terms of expectations. However, the way that schools reacted to the situation seems to have satisfied many needs of these students and their families, to a larger extent than the reaction of ordinary secondary schools., Objetivo: Identificar o impacto da crise da Covid sobre os estudantes nas escolas de segunda oportunidade, suas condições de vida e expectativas; e mostrar a reação dessas escolas às necessidades causadas pela crise.

This research project, part of the doctrinal description of equality and nondiscrimination, focusing on the study of the historical process of establishing asymmetric relationships between people that has led to the consolidation of acts of discrimination or violation of rights. Continuing with a contextualization of the precepts of equality and non-discrimination in light of intersectionality as a tool for analysis and development in the implementation of policies and regulatory advances within Ecuador, specifically in women, for an analysis of the regulatory framework and mechanisms of recognition, protection and enforceability of these principles as pillars of protection of women in the workplace. Discriminatory figures have been marked in labor relations, to the detriment of people who present various conditions of vulnerability, which has brought with it the incorporation in the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador and the current Ecuadorian Labor Code of specific legal institutions for your protection. One of them, the ineffective dismissal, whose definition, scope and legal regulation, is addressed as the originator of the permanence of women who are in a state of maternity, and of workers who have been carrying out the function of union leaders, since it constitutes a measure of labor justice, enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador, the Labor Code, the Organic Law for Labor Justice and Recognition of Work in the Home. We will specify whether the inclusion of ineffective dismissal has guaranteed protection for pregnant women or women in a maternity situation, or if other measures are necessary; all this based on the theoretical and practical study from the perspective of the population involved. Obtaining alternatives and solutions to take into account for the evolutionary process of the norm, in social relations and in the exercise of labor rights

This research is based on the existing normative limitations in labor law related to the lack of provisions that fully regulate the legal concept of workplace harassment (mobbing), as well as the mechanisms of comprehensive reparation of this form of violence, which leads to the persistence of its original effects; therefore, those who have suffered harassment will not be able to readapt satisfactorily to society, which will influence the development of their life project and the achievement of their goals set before the aggression. In addition to the aforementioned and considering the conditions of violence that women experience in different areas including work, this study evidences the obligation to grant special protection to their rights in order to eliminate all acts of aggressiveness and discrimination against them. Faced with this scenario, the need to reform the Labor Code is demonstrated in order to include in its articles provisions with a gender, human rights, intercultural and comprehensive approach, which contemplate and guarantee compensation for the damages caused by the workplace harassment with the intention of making effective the right to full compensation guaranteed in the Constitution of the Republic and in international human rights instruments.

Context:The Spanish Ministry of Education has commissioned our research group to conduct a research on all accredited second chance schools where we are inquiring young people on their past and present educational experience; trying to differentiate the relevance of the personal, the social, and the occupational dimensions. We are also finding out about the educational practice of second chance schools: their projects, methodologies and organizational arrangements, as well as their choices of occupations for the vocational training. Approach:Our theoretical framework assumes that early school leaving is a multidimensional process where individual and social features are combined with a sense of fail in the experience of schooling (Bonal, 2003; Garcíaet al., 2013; Escudero, 2005;Bernadet al., 2015;Horcaset al., 2015; García-Rubio, 2015).Furthermore, we assume that second chance schools offer these youngsters chances to reengage, reconnect and develop a sense of belonging through a space of personal and vocational identity that restores their educational experience and invites them to search and follow their vocation(Martínez-Morales, 2021). The research question we want to address in this contribution is what the relevance of work-based learning, practical teaching, and occupational training in the reengagement of young people is. In order to find this out, we will use our data to establish differences among types of students according to the value they attribute to the vocational dimension of second chance schools. Findings:Regarding the opportunities offered by second chance schools, we found that 20,6% of survey responses state that second chance schools help them to get a job, 16,3% of the answers show that the school encourages them to look for a job. Furthermore, 17,6% declare the school will help them to achieve their GESO. Conclusions:Even if our datashow that the role of work and vocational training in second chance schools is not of major relevance, considering the high youth unemployment rates in Spain and the fact that our sample is within second chance schools, vocational training seems a better chance than reengaging in the school system or even taking control over their own lives.
