The aim of this study is to examine the effect of mathematics courses integrated with children’s literature on the problem-solving skills and strategies, the attitudes towards mathematical problem solving, the mathematical connection self-efficacy and mathematical self-efficacy levels of 8th grade students. The quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used. The research was conducted with 30 students. The data were obtained by using the Attitude Scale towards Mathematical Problem-Solving, the Problem-Solving Skills and Strategies Questionnaire, the Mathematical Self-Efficacy Scale and the Mathematical Connection Self-Efficacy Scale. Data were analyzed using Kolmogorov Smirnov, Shapiro Wilk, related samples t-test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test, independent samples t-test and Mann Whitney U tests. No statistically significant difference was found between the pretest and posttest scores of the experiment and control groups. However, it was observed that there was a positive change in the scores of the experiment group in the "Assessment of the Problem Solving" sub-topic of the problem-solving skills and strategies questionnaire. This finding can contribute to the evaluation of the solution of the problem, which has an important role in the problem-solving stages. Finally, the current findings differ slightly from the literature that argues that children’s literature integration has many contributions. Some suggestions for further studies and implications have been made according to the results.

Okulda öğrenilen matematiği gerçek yaşama aktarabilme, matematiksel bilgiyi yaşamda kullanabilme ihtiyacı, matematik okuryazarlığı deyimini ön plana çıkarmıştır. Bu ihtiyacın karşılanması okullarda matematik okuryazarı öğrenciler yetiştirmek ve öğretimi bu şekilde planlamakla mümkündür. Bu doğrultudan hareketle bu çalışmada, matematik öğretiminde matematik okuryazarlığını süreç içinde geliştirme amacıyla tasarlanan ve Çift Odaklı Öğretim adı verilen bir öğretim modelinin tanıtılması amaçlanmaktadır. Tasarım tabanlı bir araştırma projesinden elde edilen verilere dayanarak yapılandırılan bu modelde öğretim, matematiksel kavram ve genellemelere ulaşma ve bunları derinleştirme ve pekiştirme üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır. Çalışmada, modelin içeriği, dayandığı öğrenme kuramları ve örnek bir ders planı üzerinde derse yansıması tüm yönleriyle açıklanmıştır. Modelin varlığına duyulan ihtiyaç, uygulanabilirliği ve başarı potansiyeli literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.

Pedagogical beliefs are a critical factor in terms of integrating technology into teaching, but very few technology acceptance models (TAMs) have considered them. Hence, this study aims to extend the TAM by incorporating pre-service teachers’ conception of teaching and learning. The revised model examined the influence of pre-service mathematics teachers’ constructivist and traditional pedagogical beliefs on their technology acceptance through perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude toward technology, and behavioral intention to use. Survey data were collected from 714 pre-service mathematics teachers in Turkey and analyzed through path analysis. The results showed that pre-service mathematics teachers’ pedagogical beliefs were more constructivist-oriented than traditional-oriented, and constructivist beliefs had a significant influence on the components of the TAM. On the other hand, pre-service teachers’ traditional-oriented beliefs did not influence their perceived usefulness of and attitudes toward technology but had positive effects on perceived ease of use. Implications for pre-service mathematics teacher education were discussed.

Erken çocukluk döneminde matematik becerilerinin gelişimi ve desteklenmesi, çocuğun ileriki yıllarda matematiği anlayabilmesi ve daha sonraki okul yaşamları için gerekli bilgi ve becerileri kazanmaları açısından önemlidir. Bunun için ilk basamak, çocukların mevcut erken matematik becerileri düzeyinin belirlenmesidir. Bu çalışmada, 3-7 yaş çocuklarının erken matematik becerilerinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla Erken Matematik Testinin (EMAT) geliştirilmesi, geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmalarına yer verilmiştir. Bu kapsamda ön uygulama Ankara ilinde 8 okulda 3-7 yaş grubu 650 çocukla, norm çalışması ise Türkiye genelinde belirlenen 12 ilden aynı yaş grubu 2018 çocukla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler, araştırmacılar ve test eğitimi alan uygulayıcılar tarafından ölçeğin çocuklara bireysel olarak uygulanmasıyla elde edilmiştir. Testin geçerlik çalışmalarında kapsam geçerliği, yaşa göre karşılaştırma ve ölçüte dayalı geçerlikten yararlanılmıştır. Ölçüt geçerliği için Erken Matematik Yeteneği Testi (TEMA-3) kullanılmıştır. Güvenirlik çalışmalarında iki yarım test güvenirliği, iç tutarlık için hesaplanan KR-20 katsayıları ve test-tekrar test güvenirliğinden yararlanılmıştır. Madde ve test istatistikleri sonucunda, üç alt test ve 105 maddeden oluşan Erken Matematik Testinin, 3-7 yaş çocuklarının erken matematik becerilerinin ölçülmesinde geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Son zamanlarda yapılan araştırmalarda öğrenmenin ne düzeyde gerçekleştiğinden çok, nasıl gerçekleştiği üzerinde durulmakta ve öğrenme, öğretim, bilgi oluşturma, soyutlama, soyutlama süreci gibi kavramlar önemli bir araştırma konusu olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır (Sezgin Sezgin-Memnun & Altun, 2012). Özellikle de Hershkowitz, Schwarz ve Dreyfus tarafından 2001 yılında ortaya sürülen RBC+C soyutlama modeli, daha önce oluşturulmuş matematiksel bilginin dikey olarak düzenlemesiyle yeni bir matematiksel yapı oluşturulması aktivitesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. İlköğretim Matematik Dersi Öğretim Programı’nda (2013) oran-orantı, doğrusal ilişki, doğru ve ters orantı gibi kavramların sarmal yapıda her sınıf düzeyinde yer aldığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca orantısal akıl yürütme becerisinin ön koşulu olan oran-orantı, matematiğin diğer disiplinlerle ilişkilendirilmesine yardımcı olmaktadır (Flores, 1995). Dolayısıyla bu çalışmada, altıncı sınıf öğrencilerinin doğru ve ters orantı bilgisini oluşturma süreçleri RBC+C soyutlama modeline göre incelenmiştir. Çalışmada ortaya konan bilgi oluşturma süreci, nitel araştırmada yer alan yorumlayıcı yaklaşıma dayalı öğretim deneyi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Araştırma bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören biri kız diğeri erkek, iki altıncı sınıf öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcılarla yaklaşık 50-55 dakika süren yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, RBC+C modelinin tanıma, kullanma, oluşturma ve pekiştirme bilişsel eylemleri çerçevesinde özetlenip yorumlanarak betimsel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular öğrencilerin orantı sabiti bilgisini oluşturup kullandıklarını, ilgili problem çözümlerinde bu bilgiye yer vermeleriyle oluşturulan bilginin pekiştirildiğini ortaya koymuştur. In the recent researches, rather than examining the level of learning, how it occurs is emphasized and concepts such as learning, teaching, knowledge formation, abstraction and abstraction process emerge as an important research subject (Sezgin Sezgin-Memnun & Altun, 2012). Particularly, the RBC + C model introduced by Hershkowitz, Schwarz and Dreyfus in 2001 is defined as the activity of creating a new mathematical structure by vertically rearranging the previously formed mathematical knowledge. In the Elementary Mathematics Curriculum (2013), it was seen that the concepts such as ratio-ratio, linear relationship, direct proportion and inverse proportion took place in the spiral structure at every grade level. In addition, the ratio-proportion, which is a prerequisite for proportional reasoning, helps to relate mathematics to other disciplines (Flores, 1995). Therefore, in this study, the processes of forming the correct proportion and inverse proportion knowledge of 6th grade students were examined according to the RBC + C abstraction model. In this study, the process of knowledge formation was examined with the instructional experiment method based on the interpretive approach within the qualitative research techniques. The study was conducted with two 6th grade students, one female and one male, studying at a public school. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants lasting approximately 50-55 minutes. The data obtained were summarized and interpreted within the framework of cognitive actions of RBC + C model. The indings revealed that the students create and use the proportionality constant information and include this information in the related problem solutions.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 7.sınıf öğrencilerinin tasarlanmış biröğrenme ortamında en büyük ortak bölen ve en küçük ortak kat(ebob-ekok) bilgisini oluşturma süreçlerinin RBCC soyutlamamodeli ile incelenmesidir. Çalışma grubu, bir devlet ortaokulundaöğrenim gören altı 7. Sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Bilgioluşturma süreci, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden, yorumlayıcıyaklaşımı temel alan öğretim deneyi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir.Öğrencilerin ebob-ekok bilgisine ulaşma süreçleri tanıma, kullanma,oluşturma, pekiştirme bilişsel eylem adımlarına göredeğerlendirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılartarafından her bir eylem adımı kapsamında araştırma problemlerihazırlanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, öğrencilerin ebob-ekokkavramlarını etkinlik sonunda yapılandırdıkları gözlemlenmiştir. The aim of this study is to examine the greatest common divisor(gcd), lowest common multiple (lcm) knowledge constructionprocess of 7th grade students in a designed learning environmentwith the RBCC abstraction model. The study group consisted ofsix 7th grade students receiving education at a public secondaryschool. The knowledge construction process was explored withteaching experiment method, which is among qualitative researchmethods based on an interpretative approach. The process ofstudents to attain the knowledge of the concepts of gcd and lcm wasevaluated according to cognitive action steps of recognizing, buildingwith, construction and consolidation. As a data collection tool, researchproblems were prepared by the researchers within the scope of eachaction step. As a result of the study, it was observed that thestudents were able to structure the concepts of gcd and lcm at theend of the activity.

Eğitim fakültelerinin yetiştirdiği öğretmen adaylarının öğrenme-öğretme becerilerinin üst düzeyde olmasının sağlanmasında adayların öğretmenliği tercih etme nedenleri ve beklentilerinin belirlenmesi önem arz etmektedir. Araştırmanın amacı; öğretmen adaylarının, İlköğretim Matematik Öğretmenliği lisans programını seçme nedenleri ve bu programdan beklentileri ile ilgili düşüncelerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırma, 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılı bahar döneminde bir devlet üniversitesinin ilköğretim matematik öğretmenliği lisans programını yeni kazanmış 6 öğretmen adayıyla gerçekleşmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması deseni; veri toplama aracı olarak ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler nitel veri analizi yöntemlerinden içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, öğretmen adaylarının matematiği sevilen, zevkli, uğraşı verilen ve mutlu olunan bir ders olarak gördükleri; öğretmenlik mesleğini tercih etme nedenlerinin başında birilerinin yönlendirmesi ve/veya birilerinden etkilenme, iş kaygısı ve çalışma koşulları ve matematiğe ilgi duyma, onu sevme ve sevdirmenin yer aldığı; matematik öğretmenliği ve öğretim elemanlarından beklentilerinin ise alan ve genel kültür bilgisi, pedagojik ve teknolojik pedagojik alan bilgisi, kişilik özellikleri ve önyargıların giderilmesi boyutlarında olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. It is important to determine prospective teachers' preferences for and expectations from studying in a pre-service teacher education program in order to prepare highly qualified. The aim of this study was to find out pre-service teachers' reasons for selecting to study in a Primary Mathematics Teaching program and their expectations from this program. Six pre-service teachers who started to study in a Primary Mathematics teaching program in the academic year of 2015-2016 participated in this study and a qualitative case study design was followed. Semi-structured interviews have been used for data collection and content analysis for analyzing the data. The results showed that; 1) pre-service teachers considered Mathematics as a popular and enjoyable pursuit in which they are happy to study, 2) having been directed and/or influenced by others, concerns relating to finding a job, working conditions, and interest in Mathematics were the reasons for candidates' selection of that particular study program; and 3) candidates' expectations from their respective study program and lecturers were content knowledge, general knowledge, technological pedagogical content knowledge, and overcoming prejudices.

This study aimed to investigate the changes in teacher perceptions regarding the use of technology subsequent to the training about technology integration in mathematics teaching. A training program that included combined technology, pedagogy and content knowledge was prepared and implemented on pre-service teachers with this aim. Exploratory sequential mixed method, one of the mixed method designs that include qualitative and quantitative research techniques, was utilized in the study. While pretest-posttest experimental design with no control groups was used in the quantitative dimension of research, pre-service teachers’ written views were collected during the qualitative part of the study. Study participants were 34 pre-service teachers attending Middle School Mathematics Teaching Department of a state university during the spring semester of 2013-2014 academic year. Perception Scale for Technology Use and interview forms were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistical methods and t-test were utilized for analyzing quantitative data whereas content analysis was preferred for qualitative data. Research results presented that significant differences were identified in middle school mathematics pre-service teachers’ perceptions regarding the use of technology as a result of the training related to technology integration in mathematics teaching. Based on the findings, it was concluded that trainings that incorporate technological, pedagogical and content knowledge that are provided during teacher training process develop pre-service teachers’ perceptions related to the use of technology in mathematics teaching.

This study examines prospective teachers beliefs in their own abilities and effectiveness to impart mathematical literacy to their students, their beliefs about mathematical problem solving, and the relationship between these two belief systems. A total of 567 prospective teachers, majoring in mathematics, science and elementary teacher education programs volunteered to participate in the study. The Self-Efficacy Beliefs Scale about Mathematical Literacy and the Beliefs about Mathematical Problem solving instruments were administered to prospective teachers. Results of the study revealed that there was a significant relationship between the beliefs about mathematical problem solving and self-efficacy. Findings of this study indicated that prospective teachers beliefs about mathematical literacy were an important predictor on the beliefs about mathematical problem solving.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the number sense performance of secondary school students according to grade level, gender and the components of number sense. A descriptive survey design was used to collect data. A total of 576 secondary school students (291 girls and 285 boys) participated in the study. The results revealed that the number sense performance of secondary school students was very low for each grade level. Among the components of number sense, the lowest mean score was observed in multiple representations. Moreover, the number sense performance scores of the students differed significantly in terms of their grade level, though no significant difference was found according to gender. The investigation concluded that the number sense performance of secondary school students is not satisfactory and needs to be improved.
