Abstract

In this paper, we aimed to prepare transparent nanofilms (SnO2) using spin coating technique used for solar cell application. It costs is very less for fabrication and by using very less quantity of raw materials. SnO2 is a transparent metal oxide that has verygood electrical, thermal conducting and optical properties. The efficiency of the solar cell nanofilm depends mainly on the thickness of nanofilm layer. The optimizing parameters such as the solute concentration, spin rate, time of the turn table, Nanofilm thickness and heat treatment techniques are to be accounted for good SnO2 production. SnO2 film is prepared from tin chloride as precursor and ethanol as the solvent. Thus nanofilm coated using spin coating techniques is subjected to various characterization techniques to study the nanofilm layer and its applications. The presence of SnO2 is identified by FTIR and the thickness of the layer is measured by Stylus Profilometer. The composition of the materials in the nanofilm are identified by XRD characterization. Abstract

The PMMA and PVDF thin films were synthesized by solution casting process. The structural, spectroscopic, and morphological attributes of both the interface and surface of the film have been investigated. The structural properties of pristine PMMA and PVDF thin film were studied by XRD. The XRD spectra showed the detailed state of order and disorder of the system. From the XRD studies amorphous nature as well as the crystallanity (semi crystalline nature) of the polymer thin film were identified. SEM showed the surface morphology of the pristine PMMA and PVDF thin film. From the SEM image the size and the porous nature of the thin film were estimated. The UV showed the absorption characteristics of PMMA and PVDF thin films. From the UV-Visible spectra, we determined the direct and indirect optical energy gap of pristine PMMA and PVDF polymer samples by Devi's and Mott formula and Tauc's Expression. To the best of our knowledge, the direct and indirect energy gap in pristine PMMA and PVDF polymer thin films have been observed for the first time as no such report was found in literature survey.

Abstract

Now a days the demand of electrical energy continuously increasing day by day, to fulfill this demand the electrical power network becomes complicated. Wavelet analysis which is a mathematical tool for signal analysis is used to detect and classify the type of fault occurring on the transmission line. This paper presents an improved algorithm for transmission line fault classification by using wavelet. Use of Impedance measurement technique and travelling wave theory is adopted here for the location of fault. Discrete wavelet transform of current signals is utilized for fault classification. MATLAB/Simulation is used to generate fault signals. Simulation results reveal that the performance of the proposed fault detection indicator is promising and easy to implement for computer relaying application.

Abstract

Undoped and Aluminum-doped ZnO thin films are prepared by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis at 400 °C on glass substrates were investigated. The dopant solution is taken at the atomic percentage of 1 to 5. By using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), the crystallographic properties and surface morphology of the films were characterized. The X-ray diffraction results show that the pure ZnO thin films have polycrystalline nature and possess a typical hexagonal wurtzite structure. Compared to pure ZnO thin film, the grain size in the Al-doped thin film is increased. They are well crystallized and the grain size is (e = 0.13 μm) for Al-doped ZnO and (e = 0.1 μm) for undoped ZnO. Compared to the previous reports, grain size of the ZnO thin film also increases with the increasing annealing temperature.

40. Pyranyl Heterocycles from Inverse Electron Demand Hetero [4+2] Cyclo­addition Reactions of Chiral Allenamides as a New Chiral Template for Constructing C-Glycoside Substrates

Abstract

A useful sequence involving stereoselective functionalization of the two olefins in pyranyl heterocycles derived from inverse electron demand hetero [4+2] cycloadditions of chiral allenamides is described here. This sequence constitutes stereo­selectively dihydroxylation or hydroboration-oxidation of the steri­cally accessible C5 exocyclic olefin followed by hydroboration-oxidation of the endocyclic olefin at C2/C3. The ultimate success in the removal of the C6 chiral auxiliary completes the demonstration of the concept of employing these unique hetero cycloadducts as chiral templates for constructing highly functionalized pyrans or C-glycosides.

41. Reactive Iron Carbonyl Species via Reduction of FeCl<INF>3</INF> with NaBH<INF>4</INF> in the Presence of CO:  Conversion of 1-Alkynes to Benzoquinones and Cyclobutenediones

Abstract

Iron carbonyl species, prepared in situ at 25 °C through reduction of anhydrous FeCl3 with NaBH4 in the presence of carbon monoxide and acetic acid in THF, reacts with 1-alkynes at reflux temperature to give the corresponding benzoquinones after CuCl2·2H2O oxidation in moderate to good yields (51−80%). Also, these species upon CH3I treatment followed by reaction with 1-alkynes lead to the formation of the corresponding cyclobutenediones in moderate yields (30−37%) after CuCl2·2H2O oxidation.

Abstract

Due to environmental concerns and fossil fuel depletion, large scale researches were carried out involving the use of natural gas in internal combustion engines. Natural gas is a clean burning fuel that is available from large domestic natural reserve. When it is used as a fuel in SI engines, it reduces emissions to meet EURO-III norms with carburettors and EURO-IV norms with manifold injection. Countries like India with fewer natural fossil fuel reserves depend heavily on oil imported from Middle East Asian countries and on the other hand combustion of fossil fuel has negative impact on air quality in urban areas. Use of CNG as a fuel in internal combustion engines can reduce the intensiveness of these pervasive problems. The performance of CNG can further be improved by addition of small percentages of hydrogen to it to overcome the drawbacks like lower energy density of the fuel, drop in engine power and engine out exhaust emissions. When hydrogen is added to CNG it is called as Hythane or Hydrogen enriched Compressed Natural Gas (HCNG). This can be considered as a first step towards promotion of hydrogen in automobiles. In this study, the effects of mixing hydrogen with CNG on a small air cooled four stroke SI engine’s performance, emissions and heat release rate was analyzed. A comparison of performance and emission by running engine separately on gasoline, hydrogen, CNG and HCNG was done. The results show a significant decrease in HC, CO and NOx emissions and marginal increase in specific energy consumption when fuelled with HCNG.
