In most Internet of Things (IoT) systems, Quality of service (QoS) must be confirmed with respect to the requirement of implementation domain. The dynamic nature of the IoT surroundings shapes it to complicate the fulfilment of these commitments. A wide range of unpredictable events endanger the quality of service. While execution the self-adaptive schemes handle with system's unpredictable. In IoT-based Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), the significant self-management objectives are self-configuration (SC) and self-healing (SH). In this paper, Self-Configuration and Self-healing Framework using an extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) Classifier are proposed. In this framework, the IoT traffic classes are categorized as several types under XGBoost classifier. In SC phase, the IoT devices are self-configured by allocating various transmission slots, contention access period (CAPs) on the basis of its categories with priorities. In SH phase, the source node cardinally establishes a confined route retrieval method if the residual power in-between node is truncated or the node has displaced far away. The proposed framework is executed in NS-2 and the results exhibit that the proposed framework has higher packet delivery ratio with reduced packet drops and computational cost. Therefore, the proposed approach has attained 24.7%, 28.9%, 12.75% higher PDR, and 16.8%, 19.87%, and 13.7% higher residual energy than the existing methods like Self-Healing and Seamless Connectivity using Kalman Filter among IoT Networks (SH-SC-KF-IoT), Provenance aware run-time verification mechanism for self-healing IoT (PA-RVM-SH-IoT), and Fully Anonymous Routing Protocol and Self-healing Capacity in Unbalanced Sensor Networks (FARP-SC-USN) methods, respectively. In our paper, we primarily concentrate on the existence and controllability results for fractional evolution inclusions of order 1 < r < 2 with Clarke's subdifferential type. Quantum dots (QDs) are a class of remarkable materials that have garnered significant attention since their initial discovery. It is noteworthy to mention that it took approximately a decade for these materials to be successfully implemented in practical applications. While QDs have demonstrated notable optical properties, it is important to note that these attributes alone have not rendered them a feasible substitute for traditional organic dyes. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the substance under investigation exhibited inherent toxicity and instability in its initial state, primarily due to the presence of a heavy metal core. In the initial stages of research, it was observed that the integration of nanocomposites had a positive impact on the properties of QDs. The discovery of these nanocomposites was motivated by the remarkable properties exhibited by biocomposites found in nature. Recent discoveries have shed light on the potential utilization of QDs as a viable strategy for drug delivery, offering a promising avenue to enhance the efficacy of current pharmaceuticals and pave the way for the creation of innovative therapeutic approaches. The primary objective of this review was to elucidate the distinctive characteristics that render QDs highly suitable for utilization as nanocarriers. In this study, we investigate nonlocal problems for a class of the Sobolev type fractional delay impulsive integrodifferential inclusions of order r ∈ (1 , 2) via sectorial operator in Hilbert space. The results are obtained by engaging of mixed Volterra-Fredholm integrodifferential systems, sectorial operator of type (P , κ , r , γ) and Martelli's fixed point theorem under the assumption that the corresponding linear system is approximately controllable. Background: Modifications to rapid response team (RRT) activation criteria occur commonly in Australian hospitals without evidence to define their use. Aims: To evaluate the effectiveness of RRT activation criteria modifications in preventing RRT activation and differences in adverse events associated with treatment delays caused by modifications. Methods: A prospective chart audit of hospital patients with RRT activation criteria modifications admitted during a 12‐month period in a large regional hospital in Toowoomba, Australia. The incidence of RRT activation criteria modifications, RRT activations and rates of adverse events following criteria modifications were investigated. Adverse events were defined as a delayed treatment on the ward, unplanned intensive care unit admission, cardiac arrest and unexpected death. Differences in patient outcomes among medical and surgical patients were also investigated. Results: A total of 271 patients out of 4009 admitted patients had modifications to their RRT activation criteria. There was no difference in rates of RRT activation in patients with modified criteria compared with patients with unmodified criteria (P = 0.37). In patients with RRT activation criteria modifications, rates of adverse events were higher in patients who met their modified RRT criteria (93.3%) compared with those who did not meet modified RRT criteria (3.8%; P < 0.001). Additionally, in patients with modifications, rates of adverse events were higher in medical patients (27.6%; n = 50) compared with surgical patients (15.6%; n = 14; P = 0.03). Conclusions: The results strongly suggest that RRT criteria modification is associated with no difference in rates of RRT activation and with detrimental impacts on patient safety, particularly in medical patients. Marine diversity is clearly considered an interest and most reliable source for the marine microbial community. Accordingly, the synthesis of L-asparaginase was obtained from the natural source of marine actinomycetes. The marine sediment samples were collected from the Gulf of Mannar coastal region, Kayalpatinam, located at Tuticorin district, Tamilnadu, India. A total of 100 marine actinomycetes strains were isolated, among them, 10 isolates belonged to Streptomyces sp. All the Streptomyces strains were screened for L-asparaginase production. Streptomyces sp KPMS7 was showed large pink coloration on L-asparaginase production medium. Based on morphological, biochemical and 16S rRNA sequence studies, the strain was identified as Streptomyces antibioticus KPMS7 and submitted in GenBank with the accession number MH819507. The strain was further studied for production and characterizations of L-asparaginase enzyme carried out by basal medium supplemented with carbon and nitrogen sources. The maximum growth rate was observed in glucose and yeast extract was effectively used as a substrate for L-asparaginase by submerged fermentation. The maximum enzyme activities were obtained in 172 h, pH 7 and temperature 37° respectively. The enzyme was partially purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation and showed a final specific activity of 71.92 IU/mg with 100 % yield was carried out by crude extract enzyme. In Sodium dodecyl-sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis revealed that the molecular weight of partially purified L-asparaginase was 116 KDa. Immunotherapy has increased survival for non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), especially for those diagnosed with late-stage disease. However, it is not known if its use is equally distributed across races. We assessed immunotherapy use in 21 098 pathologically confirmed stage IV NSCLC patients according to race in the Surveillance Epidemiology, and End Results–Medicare linked dataset. Multivariable models were conducted to evaluate the independent association of receipt of immunotherapy with race and overall survival according to race. Black patients had statistically significantly lower odds of receiving immunotherapy (adjusted odds ratio = 0.60, 95% confidence interval = 0.44 to 0.80); receipt of immunotherapy was lower in Asian and Hispanic patients but not statistically significant. When immunotherapy was received, survival was similar across races. Immunotherapy for NSCLC is not used equally among races, underscoring the racial disparities that exist in access to the newest cancer treatment. Magnetic oscillation at remanence is a key technological route for the realization of bias-field-free passive microwave devices and magnonic waveguides that support magnon transport. Here, exchange biased NiFe/FeMn bilayers have been shown to offer excellent opportunities for a new class of bias-field-free magnonic/microwave medium. Magnetic hysteresis measurements reveal a dependence on the exchange bias effect as a function of FeMn layer thickness. Ferromagnetic resonance measurements reveal magnetic oscillations at remanence for various thicknesses of FeMn, which also determines the frequency of the mode oscillations. Angular field dependent results indicate uniaxial anisotropy present in the bilayers. The in-plane magnetic anisotropy field is found to be decreased with an increase in the FeMn thickness. Further investigation on the invariance of resonance field and linear increase of linewidth with frequency shows the negligible extrinsic contribution to the overall effective damping. Relatively large effective Gilbert damping values are obtained for the higher FeMn thickness and can be attributed to the exchange bias anisotropy. Observation of low inhomogeneous linewidth broadening indicates a good quality of magnetic layer and the interfaces in our systems. Damage propagation and failure mechanisms in woven carbon fiber composites are complex due to their anisotropic nature and are affected by the percentage of constituents of the composite materials named fiber, matrix, and void. The "size effect" that relies on these parameters can be influenced by the volume fraction percentages of these constituents and composite manufacturing parameters. This research introduces a multi-instrumental structural health monitoring approach to understand damage progression due to the size effect under the Iosipescu configuration. Acoustic emission (AE) signals are classified via a K-means clustering algorithm to distinguish the damage activities based on their frequencies. It is shown that both size effect and void content are relatable based on cumulative AE energy jumps attributed to the accumulation of micro-damages inside these laminates. The thermal variations observed by passive infrared thermography are associated with the nonlinear response of the shear behavior. The outcomes of the thermal analysis are depicted to show the relationship between damage progress and laminate thickness. The digital image correlation analysis is performed to measure the full-field strain measurement during the testing. Populism and civilizationism have transformed the politics of many countries. Many scholars consider them the biggest challenges to democracy since the rise of fascism and communism in the first half of the last century. The close affinity between populism, civilizationism, and rightwing politics has also been analyzed and recognized in many countries from Turkey to India to the US. However, there are three areas that distinguish the appearance of civilizationism in Israel. First, in contrast to many other countries, civilizationism in Israel is not a new phenomenon. It has been an essential part of Israeli nationalism or Zionism since the early 20th century. Second, unlike many countries, Jewish civilizationism in Israel is an article of faith for all major Israeli political parties. It is not a slogan raised only by the rightwing, conservative part of the political spectrum. Finally, one observes an affinity between civilizationism and populism. Civilizational rhetoric is the mainstay of populist leaders, such as Trump, Erdogan, etc. In Israel, populism and civilizationism have no special relationship as civilizationism is mainstream politics. All politicians, populists and non-populists, have to pay homage to Jewish civilizationism; otherwise, they will not succeed. This paper analyzes the Israeli founding fathers' statements, the Declaration of Independence, Israeli state symbols, the revival of the Hebrew language, the Law of Return, the first debate in the Knesset, and the more recent Nation-State Law to demonstrate how Jewish civilizationism is old, mainstream, and not exclusively populist. The Kalamkari scroll narratives originated from Andhra Pradesh, the southern part of India, and they bear the characteristics of traditional mural renditions as evident in the temples of the region. The study objective was to comprehend the history and artistic evolution of hand-painted Kalamkari from mural art. The Kalamkari scroll narratives are known as the wall hangings or the backdrops of temples, and they present the Hindu mythological renderings of the primary deities. The probe focuses on the analysis of the artistic and narrative styles of Kalamkari scrolls and temple murals. The similarities are assessed through formalistic analysis and structural features are ascertained to cement the hypothesis that Kalamkari scroll painting is a direct offshoot of the temple mural tradition of southern India's Andhra Pradesh. Focusing on the U.S., Arvind Kumar and Raja Flores discuss the economic aspects that accompany cancer spending in case of prevention, screening, and treatment. While these three facets are all important in promoting patient health and safety, screening and prevention have been shown to have much lower cost compared with cancer therapeutics or in eliminating the health hazards in low- and moderate-income housing in New York City. The distribution of healthcare funds, however, does not accurately reflect the differences in impact on survival and quality of life. Energy spent on buildings accounts for 40 % of world energy in which, the walls alone consume 50 %. To reduce the energy consumption, different materials are studied for construction of building walls. The waste material generation is also increasing rapidly world-wide. This research attempts to utilize such suitable wastes effectively in wall construction. In this study, three wastes were used as fill-in materials namely sago pith waste (SPW), crushed asbestos waste (CAW) and areca nut husk waste (AHW). The heat transfer rate across the walls was found for five test conditions from 30 °C to 50 °C in steps of 5 °C each. Apart from reduction in energy consumption, the total heat flux decreased by 21.35 %, 14.26 % and 24.85 % compared to conventional red clay brick wall for SPW, CAW and AHW in-filled walls, respectively. The average value of total heat transfer coefficients were 7.86 Wm−2⋅K−1, 7.94 Wm−2⋅K−1 and 7.82 Wm−2⋅K−1 for SPW, CAW and AHW in-filled walls, respectively. Also the lowest values of total heat transfer coefficient were found in the AHW in-filled wall in all the cases. From the experimental results, new correlations of total heat flux are proposed for heating/cooling load calculations. The results revealed that the waste in-filled walls are energy-saving wall structure. The salt gradient solar pond (SGSP) is used to store solar energy for low-temperature applications. This study investigates experimentally the density and temperature profile of Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) in a trapezoidal-shaped SGSP. Four identical trapezoidal solar ponds were constructed by using plywood. The sides of the pond were completely covered with polythene sheets and given a black coating. The experiments were conducted using four identical solar ponds for seven days with different concentrations of magnesium sulfate and identified that the 16% concentration of MgSO4 (SGSP-M16) is the optimum concentration. Further, the experiment is extended to a 16% concentration of MgSO4 with coal cinder (SGSP-C). The temperature difference between the lower convective zone (LCZ) and upper convective zone (UCZ) is of about 13.7 °C and 17.6 °C for SGSP-M16 and SGSP-C, respectively. It is also observed that maximum temperatures of 54 °C and 59.1 °C in the heat storage zone for SGSP-M and SGSP-C, respectively. In this paper, the 3D Darcy–Forchheimer flow model (TDDF-FM) is discussed by utilizing the artificial intelligence-based backpropagated neural networks with the algorithm of Levenberg–Marquardt (BNN-ALM) along with the convective conditions. The effects of Brownian diffusion and thermophoresis are also examined. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into a system of ODEs. Lobatto IIIA method is used to interpret the reference dataset of BNN-ALM for different scenarios of TDDF-FM by variation of porosity parameter, Forchheimer parameter, ratio parameter, Prandtl number, Biot number, Brownian motion parameter, Schmidt number, strength parameter of homogeneous reaction and thermophoresis parameter. The solutions are computed for the designed TDDF-FM by testing, training and validation processes of BNN-ALM. The performance analysis of the designed BNN-ALM is validated by histogram analysis, regression studies and the results of mean square error (MSE). Graphs are presented for temperature profile, concentration profile and concentration rate profile. The increasing values of porosity parameter, Forchheimer parameter and Biot number enhance the temperature distribution, whereas the temperature profile shows a decreasing behavior with the increase in Prandtl number and ratio parameter. The concentration profile increases with the increase in porosity parameter, Forchheimer parameter and thermophoresis parameter and it decreases with the increasing behavior of Brownian motion parameter, ratio parameter and Schmidt number. The concentration rate profile decreases with the increase in porosity parameter, Forchheimer parameter and strength parameter of homogeneous reaction and it increases with the ratio parameter. The best performance values for different cases of scenarios are 1.42E−08, 1.70E−08, 1.78E−08, 1.61E−08, 2.43E−08, 1.05E−08, 1.30E−08, 1.59E−08 and 2.31E−08, attained at 215, 186, 178, 99, 125, 213, 187, 190 and 191 epochs. The values for the Gradient factor are 9.93E−08, 9.86E−08, 9.99E−08, 2.97E−07, 1.23E−07, 9.94E−08, 9.94E−08, 9.87E−08 and 9.94E−08, where the value of regression is R = 1 for the training, testing and validation data. The Therapeutic Assessment (TA) model of psychological assessment has grown in use due to the demonstrated benefits to clients. However, to date, there have been no published articles on how conducting TA virtually may impact the process and experience. The COVID-19 global pandemic led to a rapid increase in virtual delivery of psychological services, including assessments. Assessors adapted procedures to ensure that clients were served ethically, the assessor-client relationship was considered, and the results were deemed valid. This empirical case study was conducted to evaluate test validity, therapeutic alliance, and the clinician's and client's experience of a TA conducted virtually. The validity of test administration was evaluated by experts, who reviewed video of the administration and test results; no concerns regarding integrity and interpretability of the results were identified. Therapeutic alliance, session process, and virtual presence were measured after each session. Both clinician and client reported positive experiences. The overall impact of the TA was evaluated through quantitative assessment of the client's experience and qualitative analysis of interviews. Energy utilization in building sector constitutes 40% of the total energy consumption of the world, and in this, the wall alone consumes 50% of the buildings' energy. Hence, in order to reduce energy cost and to maintain the thermal comfort inside a room, a novel wall construction method is suggested and its heat transfer characteristics are studied at different wall temperatures. The energy consumption required for room cooling got decreased by the use of this novel method, and also, the material requirements were found to be reduced about 12% for constructing the wall. To improve thermal resistance, the air gap is provided in the brick wall structure by placing the bricks in such a way that an air gap is formed in the middle. By this arrangement, 35% of the heat transfer surface area gets covered by the air gap. The heat transfer rates across the traditional solid wall and also the modified hollow wall were investigated for five test conditions ranging from 303 to 323 K in the step of 5 K. Using the hollow wall, the maximum reduction in the total heat flux found was 40.59 Wm−2 which is about 26% lower than the solid wall. We report on the zero-field-cooled exchange bias (EB) and domain wall dynamics in IrMn (111)/Fe2CoSi bilayers. Essentially, a room temperature exchange bias without field cooling in the bilayers is evidenced and the same is attributed to (111) crystal plane orientation of IrMn layer. The crystal plane orientation of IrMn is confirmed with GI–XRD and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern using transmission electron microscope (TEM). Evolution of exchange bias is evidenced with the thicknesses of Fe2CoSi layer. Indeed, there is perfect correlation between the bulk magnetization measurements and microscopic data obtained from longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect (L-MOKE). L-MOKE measurements infer the single-layer Fe2CoSi films are isotropic in nature; however, bilayers of IrMn/Fe2CoSi are anisotropic and unidirectional in nature. Our micro-magnetic simulations infer pinning of the spins at the interface and support aforementioned results and lead to new idea about the exchange mechanism. Temozolomide (TMZ) is an alkylating chemotherapeutic drug, often used in high-grade glioma and metastatic melanoma. Common side effects of this include myelosuppression and gastrointestinal side effects. Vitiligo-like reaction is extremely rare after TMZ. We report on results pertinent to the room temperature first-order reversal curve (FORC) analysis of inverse Heusler alloy Fe2CoSi thin films with different thicknesses ($t = 5$ , 10, 15, and 20 nm). Our analysis infers that magnetostatic interactions between magnetic grains enhance with an increase in the thickness of Fe2CoSi thin films. Indeed, such results are confirmed with the analysis of switching field distribution (SFD). Single domain (SD) to multi domain (MD) transformation is evidenced as the thickness increases from 5 to 20 nm. SD state is confirmed by symmetric contour around $B_{u} = 0$ axis, while, multidomain state is affirmed with no central peak and spreading of contour parallel to $B_{u} = 0$ axis. Salt gradient solar ponds (SGSPs) are thermal devices used for storing solar energy for low-temperature applications. The thermal performance analysis of an SGSP was investigated experimentally by artificially establishing a density gradient with sodium chloride (NaCl) and a mixture of potassium nitrite and potassium nitrate (KNO2-KNO3) solution under prevailing weather conditions in Salem, India. The solar pond was trapezoidal and constructed of plywood. The sides of the pond were completely covered with polythene sheets and given a black coating. The experiment was conducted over four months, and its thermal performance was noted. The outcomes of the experimental work showed that the solar pond with KNO2-KNO3 gives a temperature difference of approximately 35 °C between the lower convective zone (LCZ) and upper convective zone (UCZ) and observed maximum temperatures of 66 °C and 57 °C in the heat storage zone of the KNO2-KNO3 and NaCl solar ponds, respectively. Energy storage in the LCZ with KNO2-KNO3 was higher than that in the LCZ with NaCl, owing to the high-volume heat capacity of KNO2-KNO3 and the maximum temperature difference was approximately 9 °C. During this study, to better understand VR's contributions to education, a systematic review of the literature was conducted from Scopus, IEEE, and Google Scholar databases. The paper aims to highlight the core concepts, the origination of the technology, its impact, associated problems, and future directions of VR concerning education and the methods considered by notorious researchers. Many medical companies use cloud technology to collect, distribute and transmit medical records. Given the need for medical information, confidentiality is a key issue. In this study, we propose an encrypted scheme based on encrypted data for an electronic healthcare environment. We use hybrid Attribute based encryption and Triple DES encryption technique (ABETDES) scheme, including identity-based cryptography (IBC), to ensure data privacy through communication channels և to improve the reliability of cloud computing. There are also limited indicators of light processing and storage resources. This solves a serious maintenance problem and ensures that a private key is created where it is not blind. The introduction of a security option, a comprehensive security analysis to protect ciphertext, shows that our program is effective against many known attacks and compared to existing methods. Filtering is one of the essential tools utilized to remove undesirable features in biomedical images. Most biomedical image denoising systems are used for clinical diagnosis. So, in this paper, we use the advanced trilateral filter in the field programmable gate array (FPGA) for removing noise in the biomedical image. Generally, the trilateral filter is used as an edge preserving smoothing filter. This advanced approach of trilateral filter gives the best noise diminution and enhances the image quality. This paper also proposes the hardware implementation of an efficient FPGA-based advanced trilateral filter on real time execution. In this manuscript, we intend to design and implement the FPGA architecture using an advanced trilateral filter. Biomedical images with different noises are used during implementation and compared with the existing bilateral and trilateral architecture to assess the proposed architecture performance. For evaluating the performance metrics of the proposed advanced trilateral filter on MATLAB platform, peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), mean squared error (MSE) and structured similarity index (SSIM) are calculated for different biomedical images – such as brain (MRI), chest (x-ray) and lungs (CT) – with different noises – such as salt and pepper, Gaussian, Poisson and Speckle noises – compared with existing bilateral filter and trilateral filter, respectively. The proposed advanced trilateral filter implementations are checked on Virtex-6, Virtex-7 and Zynq FPGA development board using Verilog programming language in Xilinx ISE 14.5 design tools. The simulation outcomes display that the FPGA execution of the advanced trilateral filter contains better noise removal efficiency in biomedical images compared with the existing bilateral and trilateral filter. In this manuscript, we deal with the nonlocal controllability results for the fractional evolution system of 1 < r < 2 in a Banach space. The main results of this article are tested by using fractional calculations, the measure of noncompactness, cosine families, Mainardi's Wright-type function, and fixed point techniques. First, we investigate the controllability results of a mild solution for the fractional evolution system with nonlocal conditions using the Mönch fixed point theorem. Furthermore, we develop the nonlocal controllability results for fractional integrodifferential evolution system by applying the Banach fixed point theorem. This article examines entropy production (EP) of magneto-hydrodynamics viscous fluid flow model (MHD-VFFM) subject to a variable thickness surface with heat sink/source effect by utilizing the intelligent computing paradigm via artificial Levenberg–Marquardt back propagated neural networks (ALM-BPNNs). The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) of MHD-VFFM are transformed into ODEs by applying suitable similarity transformations. The reference dataset is obtained from Adam numerical solver by the variation of Hartmann number (Ha), thickness parameter (α) , power index (n) , thermophoresis parameter (Nt), Brinkman number (Br), Lewis number (Le) and Brownian diffusion parameter (Nb) for all scenarios of proposed ALM-BPNN. The reference data samples arbitrary selected for training/testing/validation are used to find and analyze the approximated solutions of proposed ALM-BPNNs as well as comparison with reference results. The excellent performance of ALM-BPNN is consistently endorsed by Mean Squared Error (MSE) convergence curves, regression index and error histogram analysis. Intelligent computing based investigation suggests that the rise in values of Ha declines the velocity of the fluid motion but converse trend is seen for growing values of n. The rising values of Ha, Nt and Br improve the heat transfer but converse trend is seen for growing values of α. This research presents an error estimation approach with the combination of traditional multilevel techniques used to minimize errors for an accurate prediction and to investigate the behavior of such an algorithm for a satellite. The traditional techniques mentioned above are a combination derived from multiple regression techniques and perform a case study for data analysis. A linear plot can easily be predicted, however if a system tends to deviate toward non-linearity the overall result derived from such an algorithm can be non-reliable since each value would depict a completely different output at different levels. Objective: The present study aimed to estimate the 10-year risk of a major cardiovascular event in tuberculosis patients with and without diabetes mellitus in a tertiary care hospital. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted in patients aged 40 to 80 years, both gender, either pulmonary or extra-pulmonary tuberculosis with not less than 3 months were included for the study. Patients with any cardiovascular comorbidities were excluded from the study. WHO/ISH risk prediction charts was used to assess the prevalence of cardiovascular risk over 10 years. The association between various study categorical variables was calculated by using Chi-Square test. Results: A total 136 patients were included in the study. Pulmonary tuberculosis was the most common type of tuberculosis (79%). 96% of the study patients belong to low-risk category according to WHO/ISH risk. Statistically significant difference is observed with respect to age (p<0.001), SBP (p<0.001), type of treatments (p<0.05). [Display omitted] • Binder free thermally activated graphite fiber mat (TGFM) as electrodes of vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB). • The weight of TGFM is only 11.8 % of the conventional 6 mm thick Graphite felt. • TGFM architecture reduced the polarization resistance of VRFB by 23 %. • 4 % improvement in the energy efficiency of TGFM based VRFB over the conventional VRFB. Vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB) are emerging as the preferred energy storage solution for long-duration energy storage (LDES) and grid-scale load levelling. Herein we report a novel binder-free sandwich electrode architecture consisting of a thin layer (6−12 mg cm−2) of thermally activated graphite felt mat (TGFM) sandwiched between thin carbon papers (TCP-TGFM-TCP). This electrode architecture substantially reduced the polarization (I-V) resistance of the VRFB by 23 %, resulting in a current density increase from 340 mA cm−2 at 1 V for the thermally activated graphite felt (TGF) electrode to 470 mA cm−2 at 1 V, and an energy efficiency of 80 % at 100 mA cm−2 is realized. Zinc-air battery (ZAB) technology is a strong competitor in the automobile sector for powering automotive. Alas, there are a few issues that restrain them from being commercialized. One prominent issue which has not been discoursed thus far in alkaline ZAB is the impact of the type and content of the binder. The present work incorporates a study conducted to get insights on the impact of eleven different polymeric binders in the air electrode of an alkaline zinc-air battery. They include anion and cation conducting polymers, hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers. The galvanostatic polarisation curves reveal a huge variation depending on the type of binder. Fumion ionomer, an anion conducting material, shows the highest current density of about 163 mA cm−2 at 0.6 V owing to the right proportion of hydrophilic-hydrophobic segments and ion-conducting nature. A specific capacity of 770 mA h g−1 was obtained when Fumion was employed as a binder with 1 mg Pt cm−2. Eventually, the upshot of the experiment motivated us to try a home-made less commonly known anionic binder, functionalised-Polystyrene-Block-Poly(ethylene-ran-butylene)-Block-Polystyrene, which performed on par with Nafion™ and Fumion at a practical operating voltage of ∼1.2 V. This study reports for the first-time antioxidant activity and flavonoid composition of KP onion landrace which is useful for future breeding programs and to obtain geographical indication (GI) tag for the benefit of farmers. The present study was aimed to determine antioxidant capacity and flavonoid composition of bulbs of red onion (Allium cepa L.) landrace 'Krishnapuram' (KP) from India using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-Electrospray Ionization (ESI)-multistage Ion Trap Mass Spectrometry (ITMS). The antioxidant activity was assayed by Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) and hypochlorous acid (HClO)-induced oxidative damage in human erythrocytes. The total phenolic (TPC) contents in KP onion bulb extract (with 80% methanol) found to be 1.10 ± 0.2 mg GAE/g FW and 38.88 ± 1.0 µM QE/g. The FRAP activity measured for the bulb extract was 13.20 ± 0.1 µM QE/g. KP onion bulb extracts protected red blood cells (RBC) effectively (23%) against the oxidative damage induced by HClO. HPLC-ESI-ITMS analysis showed the presence of eight flavonols and five anthocyanins. Quercetin 3,4′-O-diglucoside (384.71 ± 0.49 mg/kg FW) and cyanidin 3-(6′′-malonylglucoside) (20.95 ± 0.60 mg/kg FW) were detected as major flavonol and anthocyanin, respectively. The study suggests that KP onion has a considerable antioxidant activity due to the presence of high TPC. Moreover, quercetin glucosides are found to be more abundant than quercetin. In the current project the samarium substituted strontium hexaferrites with general formula SrSm x Fe 12-x O 19 (where x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) nanocrystalline powder have been successfully synthesized employing sol-gel auto-combustion route. The fabricated samples have been sintered at 1200 °C for 2 h. The structural, functional group, morphological, elemental, optical, magnetic, dielectric and electrochemical properties have been studied by X-Ray diffractometer, Fourier transformer infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Energy dispersive X-Ray, UV–visible, vibrating sample magnetometer, Inductor capacitor and resistor meter and cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charging discharging respectively. The structural analysis confirms the formation of the single-phase Magnetoplumbite structure of all the samples. The crystallite size decreases with increasing Sm+3 ions concentration. The characteristic bands of hexagonal structure present in the range of 400–660 cm−1 which correspond to metal–oxygen (M − O) stretching and vibrational bonds. The bandgap increases from 4.21 to 4.86 eV. The magnetic properties reveal the clear ferromagnetic M − H curve in which the value of coercivity increases and saturation magnetization decreases. The dielectric constant and tangential loss of the material both decrease with increasing frequency. Conversely, the ac conductivity of the material increases with increasing applied frequency. This is the natural behavior of ferrites. This behavior can be attributed to the polarization and orientation of the dipoles within the material in response to the applied electric field. The observed increase in σ at higher frequencies suggests that the material may be useful in applications where high-frequency electrical properties are desired such as in the development of high-speed electronic devices. The specific capacitance increases monotonically up to 1020 F g −1 with increasing Sm+3 concentration. The effect of hydrostatic pressure and magnetic field on the magnetic properties and phase transformation in Ni46Mn41In13 Heusler alloy was investigated. Pressure (P)-magnetic field (H)-temperature (T) phase diagram has been constructed from experimental results. In the P–T contour of the phase diagram, the slope of the austenite-martensite phase boundary line appears positive (dT/dP>0), while it appears negative (dT/dH<0) in the H–T contour. The results revealed that pressure and magnetic field have opposite effect on phase stabilization. The combined effect of pressure and magnetic field on martensitic transition has led to two important findings: (i) pressure dependent shift of austenite start temperature (As) is higher when larger field is applied, and (ii) field dependent shift of As is lowered when a higher pressure is applied. The pressure and magnetic field dependent shift observed in the martensitic transformation has been explained on the basis of thermodynamic calculations. LaFeO3 nanocrystalline ferrites were synthesized through sol-gel method in different size distributions and the effect of finite size on magnetic properties is investigated. Results of magnetization and Mössbauer measurements show that superparamagnetism and weak ferromagnetic behavior in some of the size distributions. The origin of the superparamagnetism is from fine particles similar to ferromagnetic single domains and the weak ferromagnetism comes from surface spin disorder caused by Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. The magnetic ground state of LaFeO3 nanoparticles differs from that of bulk, and the ground state is dictated by the finite size effect because density of states depends on the dimensionality of the sample.
