Background: Platelet transfusion is needed for the treatment of ALL children. Researchers have shown that transfusion of stored platelet concentrates (up to 5days) is as effective as fresh platelet concentrates (24 hours). Objectives: The present study was conducted to access the comparison between fresh and stored platelet concentrate after transfusion in same all patients in a tertiary hospital. Materials and methods: The study was a cross-sectional descriptive study which was conducted in department of Clinical Pathology, Paediatric Haemato-Oncology and transfusion Medicine BSMMU, and Department of Haematology and Paediatric Haemato-Oncology in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Over a period of March 2010 to February 2011.The sample size was 81. A data sheet with two parts (Part A and Part B) was designed with a view to collect data from the patient to be enrolled in the study .The data were analyzed using the SPSS version 25.0. Results: Out of 81 patients fresh platelet concentrates (FPC) or day-0 platelets were transfused in 47 acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) children. Stored platelet concentrates (day 1-5) were transfused in 34 children. In 27cases both fresh and stored platelet concentrates were transfused. Corrected count increment at 1 hour (CCI 1h) in FPC and SPC were 20.5 and 18.9 respectively. Mean corrected count increment at 24 hour (CCI 24h) FPC and SPC were 15.5 and 13.8 respectively. There were no significant differences between FPC and SPC P>0.05. Conclusions: It was observed that 1-5 day's stored platelet-rich-plasma platelet concentrate (PRP-PC) was as effective as fresh PC to obtain acceptable platelet increment in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Furthermore, corrected count increment and percentage platelet recovery are important tools to evaluate platelet refractoriness.

Improving the quality of laboratory services must always be improved in improving the quality of the tri dharma of higher education. Good laboratory management is one of the supporting factors, for that reason, the Department of Mining Engineering manages the laboratory. Laboratory management, in this case, is the laboratory equipment inventory system and laboratory control system. This system will be used to carry out monitoring data on the use of website-based laboratory equipment where the use of laboratory equipment must be carried out systematically. The first step is to create a web system for administration and inventory in the laboratory. In this study, in conducting website-based lab management, it is also necessary to map the problems faced by students in relation to services and supporting infrastructure in the laboratory.

Aims: \ud Hypertensive disorders occur in women with peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM). How often hypertensive disorders co-exist, and to what extent they impact outcomes, is less clear. We describe differences in phenotype and outcomes in women with PPCM with and without hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.\ud \ud Methods: \ud The European Society of Cardiology PPCM Registry enrolled women with PPCM from 2012-2018. Three groups were examined: 1) women without hypertension (‘PPCM-noHTN’); 2) women with hypertension but without pre-eclampsia (‘PPCM-HTN’); 3) women with pre-eclampsia (‘PPCM-PE’). Maternal (6-month) and neonatal outcomes were compared.\ud \ud Results: \ud Of 735 women included, 452 (61.5%) had PPCM-noHTN, 99 (13.5%) had PPCM-HTN and 184 (25.0%) had PPCM-PE. Background: Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) has been touted as the standard procedure fortreatment of acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction; it can be performed through a cutaneousincision referred to as external DCR, or via a transnasal approach. Intubation with silicone tubes hasbeen widely used in lacrimal duct surgery. Objective: Toevaluate the role of silicon tube intubation inthe clinical outcomes of external and endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy in nasolacrimal ductobstruction in adults. Patients and Methods: This is a prospective, randomized; comparative studyincluded 80 cases of 74 patients who were diagnosed with postsaccal obstruction of the lacrimalpathway. The studied sample was randomly grouped into two main groups (n=40), group (I)undergoneexternal dacryocystorhinostomy (EX_DCR) and group (I) undergoneendonasaldacryocystorhinostomy (EN_DCR), then each group was subdivided into two subgroups (n=20)according to with or without silicon tube intubation. From all patients, full history was taken andthey received a complete ophthalmologic examination, ENT and systemic assessment. Afterundergoing the surgical procedure, patients were followed up at1stpostoperative day, 1week, 1, 3 &6 months, complications and outcome were assessed. Results: The overall success rate in externalDCR was 82.5% (33 cases), however, the overall success rate in endonasal DCR was 77.5% (31cases) with no significant difference between groups. The success rate was 85% for external DCRwith intubation, 80% for external DCR without intubation, 80% forendonasal DCR with intubation andwas 75% for endonasal DCR without intubation, with non significant differences among thesesubgroups (P=0.89). The results showed that DCRs without intubation recorded significantly loweroperative time compared to with indubation DCRs. Conclusion: The results of endoscopic andexternal DCR with silicone intubation were comparable to these result without intubation with nonsignificant differences. Using of silicone tube has no significant beneficial effect in the surgicalsuccess of primary DCR, while, it is associated with increasing cost, operative time and complicationrate, there is no need for its routine use. Further studies with larger sample size are warranted.

Neoproterozoic iron formations are exposed in the Wadi Hamama area (Egypt) in the northwestern part of the Arabian–Nubian Shield. Mafic and felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks of an intra-oceanic island-arc setting host multiple, thin iron-formation units. Major element compositions of the iron formation confirm a low detrital input, whereas the rare-earth elements and Y data suggest deposition related to an influx of low-temperature hydrothermal fluids. Unlike most Neoproterozoic banded iron formations, but similar to other iron-formation occurrences from the Arabian–Nubian Shield, the Nd isotopic compositions of the Wadi Hamama iron formations are predominantly mantle-like. SIMS U–Pb zircon ages of the host volcaniclastic units indicate that the age of iron-formation deposition is ca. 695 Ma, which is within the Sturtian epoch that is presumed to be a glacial event of global extent. Nevertheless, there is no robust evidence of any influence of Sturtian glaciation in the Arabian–Nubian Shield. Our results rather suggest that the iron formations in the area may have formed as low-temperature exhalites on the floor of an island-arc basin. The iron formations were deposited during periods of volcanic quiescence, with metals having been derived during low-temperature pervasive hydrothermal alteration of volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks exposed at the seafloor–seawater interface. Precipitation took place due to mixing of metal-bearing hydrothermal fluids and cold, oxygenated seawater. There is no need to invoke possible effects of global glaciation to explain the origin of the Sturtian-aged iron formations in the shield. Our study thus suggests that not all Neoproterozoic iron formations are necessarily linked to glacial events as the Hamama deposit represents a non-Rapitan exhalative iron formation.

COVID-19 is a virus originated from Corona Virus which can severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) symptoms such as chest pain, dry cough, fever, and difficulty breathing. The AC and ventilation system is not only important for the thermal comfort occupants but to ensure the room is safe and free from infectious virus. Thermal comfort is important measurement in indoor space which influenced by temperature, Relative Humidity (RH), airflow velocity and others. This research was executed and focused on lecture room in Bilik Persatuan 10, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) instead of real hospital waiting room. It comes with the room dimensions 11.87m (Length) × 5.17m (Width) × 2.93m (Height) for the numerical study. In addition, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis is used to investigate the air flow pattern and temperature distribution inside the room. By using software Ansys FLUENT 19, field experimental and simulation work can be compared which have 14.55% difference in temperature distribution. It is expected by increasing the air velocity of the AC inlet diffuser influence the pattern of airflow in the room, but average temperature remains same for all these conditions.

6-Bromo-2-methyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (P1), was investigated for its adsorption and corrosion inhibition traits for mild steel corrosion in 1.0 M HCl solution. Gravimetric, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods, were used to test the nature of adsorption and the inhibition effect of P1 on the mild steel in acidic media. It was found that the inhibition efficiency improved with the increase of P1 concentration in the acid solution (1.0 M HCl). The adsorption of P1 favored Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The results of corrosion tests confirmed that P1 could serve as an efficient corrosion inhibitor for the mild steel in 1.0 M HCl solution, yielding a high efficiency and low risk of environmental pollution. The in vitro degradation and mechanical properties of a 3D porous Pennisetum purpureum (PP)/polylactic acid (PLA)-based scaffold were investigated. In this study, composite scaffolds with PP to PLA ratios of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% were immersed in a PBS solution at 37°C for 40 days. Compression tests were conducted to evaluate the compressive strength and modulus of the scaffolds, according to ASTM F451-95. The compression strength of the scaffolds was found to increase from 1.94 to 9.32MPa, while the compressive modulus increased from 1.73 to 5.25MPa as the fillers' content increased from 0wt% to 30wt%. Moreover, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and X-ray diffraction were employed to observe and analyse the microstructure and fibre-matrix interface. Interestingly, the degradation rate was reduced for the PLA/PP20 scaffold, though insignificantly, this could be attributed to the improved mechanical properties and stronger fibre-matrix interface. Microstructure changes after degradation were observed using FESEM. The FESEM results indicated that a strong fibre-matrix interface was formed in the PLA/PP20 scaffold, which reflected the addition of P. purpureum into PLA decreasing the degradation rate compared to in pure PLA scaffolds. The results suggest that the P. purpureum/PLA scaffold degradation rate can be altered and controlled to meet requirements imposed by a given tissue engineering application.
