Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been shown to improve gut dysbiosis in dogs; however, it has not completely been understood in police dogs. This study aimed to investigate the effects of FMT on performance and gut microflora in Kunming police dogs. Twenty Wolf Cyan dogs were randomly assigned to receive physiological saline or fecal suspension at low, medium, or high doses through oral gavage for 14 days. Growth performance, police performance, serum biochemical profiling, and gut microflora were determined 2-week post-FMT. Dogs after FMT treatment were also subjected to an hour road transportation and then were evaluated for serum stress indicators. Overall, FMT enhanced the growth performance and alleviated diarrhea rate in Kunming dogs with the greatest effects occurring in the low dose FMT (KML) group. The improvement of FMT on police performance was also determined. These above alterations were accompanied by changed serum biochemical parameters as indicated by elevated total protein and albumin and reduced total cholesterol and glycerol. Furthermore, the serum stress indicators after road transportation in dog post-FMT significantly decreased. Increased bacterial diversity and modified bacterial composition were found in the feces of dogs receiving FMT. The fecal samples from FMT dogs were characterized by higher abundances of the genera Lactobacillus, Prevotella, and Fusobacterium and lower concentrations of Cetobacterium, Allobaculum, Bifidobacterium, and Streptococcus. The present study supports a potential benefit of FMT on police performance in Kunming dogs. • Inflammatory markers are indicators of co-infections. • Age is an important predisposing factor for Talaromyces marneffei infection in patients who are HIV-negative. • Persistent infection is more likely to occur in patients with Talaromyces marneffei infection who are HIV-negative. • Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the most common co-infection in HIV-negative hosts. Talaromyces marneffei is an emerging pathogen, and the number of infections in HIV-negative individuals is rapidly increasing. Nevertheless, there is no sufficient comprehensive report on this issue, and awareness needs to be raised among clinicians. We analyzed the differences in the clinical data of patients who are HIV-negative and HIV-positive with Talaromyces marneffei infection (TMI) from 2018 to 2022. A total of 848 patients were included, among whom 104 were HIV-negative. The obvious differences between the HIV-positive and HIV-negative groups were as follows: (i) the patients who are HIV-negative were older and more likely to exhibit cough and rash, (ii) the time in days from symptom onset to diagnosis among patients who are HIV-negative was longer, (iii) the laboratory findings and radiological presentations seemed more severe in patients who are HIV-negative, (iv) differences were observed regarding the underlying conditions and co-infection pathogens, and correlation analysis showed that correlations existed for many indicators, (v) and persistent infection was more likely to occur in patients who are HIV-negative. TMI in patients who are HIV-negative differs from that in patients who are HIV-positive in many aspects, and more investigations are needed. Scutellarin is used to treat brain ischaemia. However, its underlying mechanism of action remains unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the potential mechanism of action of scutellarin in brain ischaemia through network pharmacology and experimental verification. The JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway was identified and experimentally verified. Expression of JAK2/STAT3 signalling related proteins in TNC-1 astrocytes with BV-2 microglia-conditioned medium (CM), CM + lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (CM + L), and CM pretreated with scutellarin + LPS (CM + SL) was analysed by Western Blot and immunofluorescence staining. Expression levels of JAK2, p-JAK2, STAT3, and p-STAT3 were evaluated in astrocytes pre-treated with AG490. Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats was performed in different experimental groups to detect expression of the above biomarkers. Network pharmacology suggested that the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway is one of the mechanisms by which scutellarin mitigates cerebral ischaemic damage. In TNC-1 astrocytes, p-JAK2 and p-STAT3 expression were significantly up-regulated in the CM + L group. Scutellarin promoted the up-regulation of various markers and AG490 neutralised the effect of scutellarin. In vivo, up-regulation of p-JAK2 and p-STAT3 after ischaemia is known. These results are consistent with previous reports. Scutellarin further enhanced this upregulation at 1, 3, and 7 d after MCAO. Scutellarin exerts its therapeutic effects on cerebral ischaemia by activating the astrocyte JAK2/STAT3 signalling, which provides a firm experimental basis for its clinical application. To evaluate the secular trends of sleep-wake patterns of Hong Kong preschool children. Kindergartens from the four geographical regions of Hong Kong were randomly invited to take part in a sleep survey in 2012 and again in 2018. The parent-completed questionnaire provided information on socioeconomic status (SES), children's, and parental sleep-wake patterns. Secular trends and risk factors associated with short sleep duration in preschoolers were explored. A sample of 5048 preschool children was included in the secular comparison, with 2306 and 2742 from the 2012 and 2018 surveys, respectively. A higher percentage of children in 2018 (41.1% vs 26.7%, p < 0.001) did not achieve the recommended sleep duration. During the survey years, sleep duration decreased by 13 ([95%CI: 18.5 to −8.1]) and 18 min ([95%CI: 23.6 to −12.2]) on weekdays and weekends, respectively. The overall trend of nap decrease was not significant. Sleep onset latency significantly increased on both weekdays (6 min [95%CI: 3.5 to 8.5]) and weekends (7 min [95%CI: 4.7 to 9.9]). Children's sleep duration was positively correlated with parental sleep duration with a correlation coefficient ranging from 0.16 to 0.27 (p < 0.001). A significant proportion of Hong Kong preschool children did not achieve the recommended amount of sleep. A downward secular trend in sleep duration was observed during the survey period. Public health measures to improve sleep duration in preschool children should be a high priority. • A downward secular trend in sleep duration is observed in Hong Kong preschoolers. • Parental sleep duration is also significantly shorter during the survey period. • Bedtime access to electronic media devices is a risk factor for reduced sleep duration. [Display omitted] Most economically important tungsten (W) deposits are of magmatic-hydrothermal origin. The species and partitioning of W during fluid exsolution, considered to be the controlling factors for the formation of ore deposits, are thus of great significance to investigate. However, this issue has not been well addressed mainly due to the significant difference in reported partition coefficients (e.g., from strongly incompatible to strongly compatible) between fluid and melt (D W fluid/melt). Here, we used an in situ Raman spectroscopic approach to describe the W speciation, and to quantitatively determine the D fluid/melt of individual and total W species in granite melts and coexisting Na 2 WO 4 solutions at elevated temperatures (T ; 700–800 °C) and pressures (P ; 0.35–1.08 GPa). Results show that WO 4 2− and HWO 4 − are predominant W species, and the fractions of these two species are similar in melt and coexisting fluid. The partitioning behaviors of WO 4 2− and HWO 4 − are comparable, exhibiting strong enrichment in the fluid. The total D W fluid/melt ranges from 8.6 to 37.1. Specifically, D W fluid/melt decreases with rising T – P , indicating that shallow exsolution favors enrichment of W in evolved fluids. Furthermore, Rayleigh fractionation modeling based on the obtained D W fluid/melt data was used to describe the fluid exsolution processes. Our results strongly support that fluid exsolution can serve as an important mechanism to generate W-rich ore-forming fluids. This study also indicates that in situ approach can be used to further investigate the geochemical behavior of ore-forming elements during the magmatic-hydrothermal transition, especially for rare metals associated with granite and pegmatite. Wearable sweat sensors are essential for providing insight into human physiological health. The currently developed microfluidic sweat sensors have demonstrated the function of collecting and storing sweat. However, they detect more average concentrations of substances based on time periods, which leads to the fact that in situ real-time measurement for multiple biomarkers remains a grand challenge. Here, we propose a wearable epidermal microfluidic patch with integrated microfluidic pumps and micro-valves for accelerated and continuous collection of the sweat, where the micro-pumps ensure the complete separation of old and new sweat for real-time detection of real concentration of biomarkers in sweat. The biomarker concentration at different time periods is detected by introducing a burst valve, which is used to assist in the analysis of the real-time detection. A quantitative relationship between the minimum burst pressure difference required for sequential collection and the size of the microchannel structure is established to overcome the effects of additional resistance at the gas–liquid interface. Additionally, the sensing modules, including sodium ion, chlorine ion, glucose, and pH level in sweat, are integrated into the patch to realize in situ, real-time detection of multiple biomarkers in the human sweat, decoding the correlation between changes in substance concentrations and physiological conditions. We investigated the clinical features and screened for predictive factors of anti-interferon-γ autoantibody (AIGA) positivity. We enrolled 63 AIGA-positive (group 1) and 29 AIGA-negative (group 2) HIV-negative patients. White blood cell (WBC) and neutrophil counts, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and C-reactive protein (CRP), globulin, immunoglobulin (Ig) G, and IgM levels were higher, whereas CD4+T cell count and hemoglobin level were lower in group 1 than in group 2. Co-infections, multiple infections, and disseminated infections were significantly higher in group 1 than in group 2. Prognosis was worse in group 1 than in group 2, especially for relapse and persistent infections. The number of infecting pathogens and sites involved; WBC and neutrophil counts; globulin, IgG, IgM, and CRP levels; and ESR were significantly positively correlated with AIGA titers; however, CD4+T cell count was significantly negatively correlated with AIGA titers. Therefore, IgG, globulin, and CRP levels; CD4+T cell and WBC counts; the number of infecting pathogens and sites involved; and ESR were considered potential predictors for AIGA positivity. For HIV-negative hosts with double or multiple opportunistic, disseminated infections and high serum IgG and globulin levels, low CD4+T cell count, and an increase in inflammatory marker levels, positive AIGA-associated immunodeficiency should be considered. The sophistication, adaptability, and complexity of biological systems have provided enormous inspiration and have been a continuous source of numerous innovations. Soft living organisms like drosera capensis have amazing predatory behavior that can capture prey of ideal size, enabling them to interact with environmental stimuli efficiently. Mimicking such natural intelligence in artificial systems with systematical functions of multiple information perception, neuronal transmission, and adaptive motility remains a grand challenge. Here, a biomimetic drosera capensis is reported that is capable of multifunctional self‐sensing, automatic regulation, and adaptive actuation in response to diverse stimuli with intelligent predation capability in an entirely closed‐loop fashion. The functional system heterogeneously integrates the thermal‐responsive soft actuator as the muscle‐like motor and flexible tactile, strain, and piezoelectric multimodal sensors as somatosensory receptors. With the synergistic effect of multifunctional sensing and fast actuating schemes, the artificial drosera capensis deconvolutes multiple characteristics of the catching process (e.g., strain rate, magnitude, and direction) and thus holds impressive predatory behavior for ideal‐sized prey. This electronically innervated artificial drosera capensis with multimodal sensing and self‐regulated actuating capability through the closed‐loop control of sensing and actuating system paves the way for the development of adaptive soft robots. Background: High-titer anti-interferon (IFN)-γ autoantibodies are strongly associated with intracellular pathogens such as nontuberculous mycobacteria and Talaromyces marneffei, but they are not as commonly associated with Talaromyces marneffei co-infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Case Presentation: Herein, we report a case of an HIV-negative Chinese man with a severe, disseminated co-infection of Talaromyces marneffei and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, who had a high-titer of anti IFN-γ autoantibodies and a CFI heterozygous nonsense gene mutation. The patient rapidly developed sepsis and died. Through by flow cytometry for CD4+ T cells' intracellular phosphorylated STAT-1 and Th1 cells (CD4+ IFN-γ+ cells), we found that the patient's serum can inhibited IFN γ-induced CD4+ T cells' STAT-1 phosphorylation and Th1 cell differentiation in normal peripheral blood mononuclear cells, but this phenomenon was not observed in normal control's serum. In addition, the higher serum concentration in the culture medium, the more obvious inhibition of Th1 cell differentiation.Conclusions: For HIV-negative individuals with relapsing, refractory, fatal double or multiple intracellular pathogen infections, especially Talaromyces marneffei, clinicians should be aware that if they might be dealing with adult-onset immunodeficiency syndrome due to high-titer anti-IFN-γ autoantibodies. Background: Talaromyces marneffei (TM) primarily infects patients with co-morbidities that cause immunodeficiency, but non-secretory myeloma (NSMM) is rare. TSM and NSMM are associated with fever, osteolysis, and swollen lymph nodes, thereby making it difficult for clinicians to make differential diagnosis. In this case, we describe TM infection coexisting with NSMM.Case Presentation: We retrospectively reviewed the case of a male (without human immunodeficiency virus infection) with fever, thoracalgia, swollen lymph nodes, and subcutaneous nodules who presented to the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University in February 2014. Chest computed tomography revealed patchy infiltration and positron emission tomography/computed tomography showed increased metabolic activity in the lower-right lung, lymph nodes, left ninth rib, and right ilium. Pathological examination of the lung, lymph nodes, subcutaneous nodules, and bone marrow showed no malignancy, he was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia. His clinical symptoms did not improve after anti-bacterial, anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and anti-non-M. tuberculosis treatment. Later, etiological culture and pathological examination of the subcutaneous nodule proved TM infection, and the patient was re-diagnosed with disseminated TSM, which involved the lungs, lymph nodes, skin, bone, and subcutaneous tissue. After antifungal treatment, the patient showed significant improvement, except for the pain in his bones. Imaging showed aggravated osteolysis, and bone marrow biopsy and immunohistochemistry indicated NSMM. Thus, we conclusively diagnosed the case as NSMM with TSM (involving the lungs, lymph nodes, skin, and subcutaneous tissue). His condition improved after chemotherapy, and he was symptom-free for 7 years.Conclusion: TM infection is rare in individual with NSMM. Since they have clinical manifestation in common, easily causing misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis, multiple pathological examinations and tissue cultures are essential to provide a differential diagnosis. Background: In recent years, talaromycosis is reportedly on the rise in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-uninfected patients. However, the misdiagnosis and mistreatment of talaromycosis is more likely in HIV-uninfected patients than in HIV-infected patients because talaromycosis can be easily mistaken for tuberculosis or any other opportunistic infection. Therefore, we used metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), a novel gene detection method, for the diagnosis of talaromycosis in HIV-uninfected patients.Case Presentation: We report five cases diagnosed as talaromycosis by mNGS in HIV-uninfected patients, which were further confirmed by tissue culture. There were 3 male and 2 female patients. Two patients had a history of rat contact. The misdiagnosis duration ranged from 88 to 245 days. While the results of tissue culture changed from repeated negative to positive, the mNGS result for Talaromyces marneffei was positive earlier in 4 patients. The reads of Talaromyces marneffei in mNGS ranged from 5 to 414. After antifungal therapy, one of the outcomes was death due to the longest duration of misdiagnosis, and the other outcomes were clinical improvement.Conclusions: mNGS is perhaps a rapid and effective diagnosis approach for the early confirmation of talaromycosis. Antifungal therapy is recommended once Talaromyces marneffei was revealed by mNGS. mNGS might reduce misdiagnosis duration and improve prognosis. To describe the clinical features and the risk factors for nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) and Talaromyces marneffei (TM) co-infections in HIV-negative patients. A multicenter retrospective study in 13 hospitals, and a systematic literature review were performed of original articles published in English related to TM/NTM co-infections. HIV-negative patients with TM and NTM co-infections comprised Group 1; TM-only infection Group 2; NTM-only infection Group 3; and healthy volunteers Group 4. Univariate logistic analysis was used to estimate the potential risk factors of TM/NTM co-infections. A total of 22 cases of TM and NTM co-infections were enrolled. Of these, 17 patients (77.3%) had a missed diagnosis of one of the TM or NTM pathogens. The anti-IFN-γ autoantibodies (AIGAs) titer, white blood cell (WBC), neutrophil counts (N), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C reactive protein (CRP), globulin, and immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels of Group 1 were higher than those of the other groups, whereas the levels of CD4+T cells was lower than those of other groups. There was a significant negative correlation between the AIGA titers and the number of CD4+T cells (P < 0.05). Factors including the ratio of the actual values to the cut-off values of AIGAs, WBC, N, HGB, CD4+T cells, IgG, IgM, IgA, serum globulin, ESR, and CRP were taken as potential risk factors for TM and NTM co-infection. Most patients with TM and NTM co-infection had a missed diagnosis of one of the TM or NTM pathogens. The levels of AIGAs, WBC, N, ESR, and CRP in TM and NTM co-infections were remarkably higher than in mono-infection. Previous studies have shown that scutellarin inhibits the excessive activation of microglia, reduces neuronal apoptosis, and exerts neuroprotective effects. However, whether scutellarin regulates activated microglia-mediated neuronal apoptosis and its mechanisms remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether scutellarin can attenuate PC12 cell apoptosis induced by activated microglia via the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway. Microglia were cultured in oxygen–glucose deprivation (OGD) medium, which acted as a conditioning medium (CM) to activate PC12 cells, to investigate the expression of apoptosis and JAK2/STAT3 signalling-related proteins. We observed that PC12 cells apoptosis in CM was significantly increased, the expression and fluorescence intensity of the pro-apoptotic protein Bax and apoptosis-related protein cleaved caspase-3 were increased, and expression of the anti-apoptotic protein B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) was decreased. Phosphorylation levels and fluorescence intensity of the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway-related proteins JAK2 and STAT3 decreased. After treatment with scutellarin, PC12 cells apoptosis as well as cleaved caspase-3 and Bax protein expression and fluorescence intensity decreased. The expression and fluorescence intensity of Bcl-2, phosphorylated JAK2, and STAT3 increased. AG490, a specific inhibitor of the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway, was used. Our findings suggest that AG490 attenuates the effects of scutellarin. This paper aims to provide an aerodynamic optimization procedure to improve the aerodynamic performance of single-layer spherical domes, by coupling the kriging surrogate model with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA). Firstly, a series of wind tunnel tests on the mean pressures and wind-induced behavior of a single-layer spherical latticed shell, were carried out to investigate the effect of dome geometric parameters. Then, the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and RSM turbulence model were utilized for simulating the wind loads on spherical domes, and the numerical results are validated with experimental data. On this basis, the single-objective aerodynamic optimization of spherical domes based on ordinary kriging surrogates has been carried out to find out the optimal geometric parameters (rise/span and wall-height/span ratios). The objectives were minimizing the highest mean suction and the maximum vertical displacement, respectively. The optimization results showed that the optimal design of spherical domes exhibits a reasonable aerodynamic performance improvement compared with the near optimal solutions. In addition, the highest mean suction and the maximum vertical displacement can be reduced by decreasing the wall-height of the dome, and a good trade-off between the two objectives can be achieved by selecting suitable dome geometric parameters. Coronavirus (CoV) pandemics have become a huge threat to the public health worldwide in the recent decades. Typically, severe acute respiratory syndrome CoV (SARS‐CoV) caused SARS pandemic in 2003 and SARS‐CoV‐2 caused the ongoing COVID‐19 pandemic. Both viruses are most likely originated from bats. Thus, direct or indirect inter‐species transmission from bats to humans is required for the viruses to cause pandemics. Receptor utilization is a key factor determining the host range of viruses which is critical to the inter‐species transmission. Angiotensin‐converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is the receptor of both SARS‐CoV and SARS‐CoV‐2, but only ACE2s of certain animals can be utilized by the viruses. Here, we employed pseudovirus cell‐entry assay to evaluate the receptor‐utilizing capability of ACE2s of 20 animals by the two viruses and found that SARS‐CoV‐2 utilized less ACE2s than SARS‐CoV, indicating a narrower host range of SARS‐CoV‐2. Especially, SARS‐CoV‐2 tended not to use murine or non‐mammal ACE2s. Meanwhile, pangolin‐CoV, another SARS‐related coronavirus highly homologous to SARS‐CoV‐2 in its genome, yet showed similar ACE2 utilization profile with SARS‐CoV rather than SARS‐CoV‐2. Nevertheless, the actual susceptibility of these animals to the coronaviruses should be further verified by in vivo studies. To clarify the mechanism underlying the receptor utilization, we compared the amino acid sequences of the 20 ACE2s and found 5 amino acid residues potentially critical for ACE2 utilization, including the N‐terminal 20th and 42nd amino acid residues that might determine the different receptor utilization of SARS‐CoV, SARS‐CoV‐2 and pangolin‐CoV. Our studies enhance the understanding of receptor utilization of pandemic coronaviruses, potentially contributing to the virus tracing, intermediate host screening and epidemic prevention for pathogenic coronaviruses. Elucidating the molecular mechanism of the microRNAs in skin fibrosis is critical for identifying a novel therapeutic strategy for hypertrophic scar (HS). In this study, it was shown that miR-210-5p is induced by TGFβ, and that overexpression of miR-210-5p promoted the differentiation of human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs) into myofibroblasts. STAT5A is required for TGFβ-induced STAT3 activity. Here, we show that miR-210-5p attenuated TGFβ-induced STAT3 signaling pathway by suppressing the expression of STAT5A. Taken together, the present study suggests that TGFβ-induced miR-210-5p reduced STAT5A expression, leading to aberrant activation of STAT3, and facilitate skin fibrosis in HDFs. To evaluate sleep duration in a representative sample of preschoolers and examine the relationships between screen time and use of different electronic media devices with sleep duration and social jetlag. 2903 preschoolers were included. Parent-completed questionnaire provided information on socioeconomic status, electronic media use of the children and sleep patterns of both parents and children. Preschoolers were divided according to whether they met the international screen time recommendations for their age. Comparisons between the two groups in various sleep measures and effects of different devices on sleep were evaluated. 40% of preschoolers in our cohort did not achieve the recommended sleep duration. Subjects who adhered to the screen time recommendations were from families of higher socioeconomic status, had longer sleep duration and better sleep habits. Each hour increase on portable electronic device use was associated with 11 (95%CI: −15 to −6) and 6 (95%CI: −10 to −2) minutes less of average daily sleep duration in boys and girls, respectively. Every additional hour of non-portable electronic devices use was associated with 3 min shift in social jetlag in boys. Presence of electronic devices in bedroom and their use at bedtime increased risk of social jetlag in boys with an OR of 1.40 (95%CI: 1.01 to 1.92) and 1.39 (95%CI: 1.00 to 1.95) respectively. Multiple-ribbon flares are usually complex in their magnetic topologies and eruption mechanisms. In this paper, we investigate an X2.1 flare (SOL2015-03-11T16:22) that occurred in active region 12297 near the center of the solar disk by both potential and nonlinear force-free field models extrapolated with the data observed by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory. We calculate the three-dimensional squashing degree distribution. The results reveal that there are two flux ropes in this active region covered by a large-scale hyperbolic flux tube (HFT), which is the intersection of quasi-separatrix layers with a null point embedded in it. When the background magnetic field diminishes due to the separation of the northwest dipole and the flux cancellation, the central flux rope rises up, forming the two brightest central ribbons. It then squeezes the overlying HFT structure to generate further brightenings. This very energetic flare with a complex shape is accompanied by a coronal mass ejection (CME). We adopt the simplified line-tied force-balance equation of the current ring model and assign the observed value of the decay index to the equation to simulate the acceleration profile of the CME in the early stage. Our previous study of coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3)‐induced unfolded protein responses (UPR) found that overexpression of ATF6a enhances CVB3 VP1 capsid protein production and increases viral particle formation. These findings implicate that ATF6a signalling benefits CVB3 replication. However, the mechanism by which ATF6a signalling is transduced to promote virus replication is unclear. In this study, using a Tet‐On inducible ATF6a HeLa cell line, we found that ATF6a signalling downregulated the protein expression of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) degradation‐enhancing α‐mannosidase‐like protein 1 (EDEM1), resulting in accumulation of CVB3 VP1 protein; in contrast, expression of a dominant negative ATF6a had the opposite effect. Furthermore, we found that EDEM1 was cleaved by both CVB3 protease 3C and virus‐activated caspase and subsequently degraded via the ubiquitin‐proteasome pathway. However, overexpression of EDEM1 caused VP1 degradation, likely via a glycosylation‐independent and ubiquitin‐lysosome pathway. Finally, we demonstrated that CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated knockout of EDEM1 increased VP1 accumulation and thus CVB3 replication. This is the first study to report the ER protein quality control of non‐enveloped RNA virus and reveals a novel mechanism by which CVB3 evades host ER quality control pathways through cleavage and degradation of the UPR target gene EDEM1, to ultimately benefit its own replication. Background: Talaromyces marneffei is a highly pathogenic fungus that can cause life-threatening fatal systemic mycosis. Disseminated Talaromycosis marneffei affects multiple organs, including the lungs, skin, and reticuloendothelial system. However, T. marneffei infection has rarely been reported in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-negative infants with multiple intestinal perforations and diffuse hepatic granulomatous inflammation.Case Presentation: We present the case of an HIV-negative 37-month-old boy who has had recurrent pneumonia since infancy and was infected with disseminated Talaromycosis. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the whole abdomen showed hepatomegaly and intestinal wall thickening in the ascending colon and cecum with mesenteric lymphadenopathy. Colonoscopy showed a cobblestone pattern with erosion, ulcer, polypoid lesions, and lumen deformation ranging from the colon to the cecum. T. marneffei was isolated from the mucous membrane of the colon, liver, and bone marrow. After antifungal treatment and surgery, his clinical symptoms significantly improved. Whole-exome sequencing using the peripheral blood of the patient and his parents' revealed a heterozygous missense mutation in exon 17 of the STAT3 gene (c.1673G>A, p.G558D).Conclusions: In T. marneffei infection-endemic areas, endoscopic examination, culture, or histopathology from the intestine tissue should be performed in disseminated Talaromycosis patients with gastrointestinal symptoms. Pollen wall consists of several complex layers which form elaborate species-specific patterns. In Arabidopsis, the transcription factor ABORTED MICROSPORE (AMS) is a master regulator of exine formation, and another transcription factor, TRANSPOSABLE ELEMENT SILENCING VIA AT-HOOK (TEK), specifies formation of the nexine layer. However, knowledge regarding the temporal regulatory roles of TEK in pollen wall development is limited. Here, TEK-GFP driven by the AMS promoter was prematurely expressed in the tapetal nuclei, leading to complete male sterility in the pAMS:TEK-GFP (pat) transgenic lines with the wild-type background. Cytological observations in the pat anthers showed impaired callose synthesis and aberrant exine patterning. CALLOSE SYNTHASE5 (CalS5) is required for callose synthesis, and expression of CalS5 in pat plants was significantly reduced. We demonstrated that TEK negatively regulates CalS5 expression after the tetrad stage in wild-type anthers and further discovered that premature TEK-GFP in pat directly represses CalS5 expression through histone modification. Our findings show that TEK flexibly mediates its different functions via different temporal regulation, revealing that the temporal regulation of TEK is essential for exine patterning. Moreover, the result that the repression of CalS5 by TEK after the tetrad stage coincides with the timing of callose wall dissolution suggests that tapetum utilizes temporal regulation of genes to stop callose wall synthesis, which, together with the activation of callase activity, achieves microspore release and pollen wall patterning. To date, pollen wall developmental events, including production and transportation of pollen wall components, synthesis and degradation of the callose wall, and deposition and demixing of primexine, have been studied in Arabidopsis, and a number of anther- or tapetum-specific genes involved in pollen wall formation have been uncovered. However, whether the specific expression patterns of these genes contribute to pollen wall development or patterning remains unclear. Here, we show that TEK, a transcription factor that specifies formation of nexine (the inner layer of the pollen wall exine), represses the expression of the callose synthase CalS5 after the tetrad stage, which accurately fits with the timing of callose wall dissolution causing microspore release. Moreover, we show that premature expression of TEK in the wild-type anthers disturbs callose wall synthesis and pollen wall patterning. SARS-CoV-2, the newly identified human coronavirus causing severe pneumonia pandemic, was probably originated from Chinese horseshoe bats. However, direct transmission of the virus from bats to humans is unlikely due to lack of direct contact, implying the existence of unknown intermediate hosts. Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is the receptor of SARS-CoV-2, but only ACE2s of certain species can be utilized by SARS-CoV-2. Here, we evaluated and ranked the receptor-utilizing capability of ACE2s from various species by phylogenetic clustering and sequence alignment with the currently known ACE2s utilized by SARS-CoV-2. As a result, we predicted that SARS-CoV-2 tends to utilize ACE2s of various mammals, except murines, and some birds, such as pigeon. In situ Raman spectra of aqueous K2WO4-HCl, K2WO4-HCl-NaCl, and K2WO4-CO2-NaCl solutions were collected at elevated temperature (T , 100–400°C) and constant pressure (P) of 30 MPa. The stretching vibration band of the W=O bond ( v 1 ) was analyzed to reveal the species of tungsten (W) responsible for the hydrothermal transport of W during mineralization. Results showed that monomeric tungstates with v 1 (W=O) bands at ~930 and 950 cm-1 are the dominant W species in weakly alkaline (room temperature, pH = 7.7) to near-neutral (room temperature, pH = 7.2) solutions under the investigated T ‐ P conditions. Overall, the stability of polymeric tungstate species with v 1 (W=O) bands at ~965–995 cm-1 decreases with rising temperature and was not detected at ≥300°C in moderately acidic solution (room temperature, pH = 4.9). However, increased fluid acidity and salinity obviously enlarged the temperature stability field of polymeric tungstate species. In highly acidic solution (room temperature, pH = 1.4), polymeric tungstates are the only stable W species even at 400°C. In the presence of 1.9 mol/kg NaCl, polymeric tungstate(s) can persist to at least 350°C in moderately acidic solution. Considering that 300–350°C is the major W-mineralizing T range and W-mineralizing fluid is generally characterized by a moderately acidic nature, we propose that, in addition to monomeric tungstates, polymeric tungstates can also be important W species in some natural geological fluids that are responsible for the mineralization of W. We re-evaluate the Raman spectroscopic quantification of the molar ratio and pressure for CH4–CO2 mixtures. Firstly, the Raman quantification factors of CH4 and CO2 increase with rising pressure at room temperature, indicating that Raman quantification of CH4/CO2 molar ratio can be applied to those fluid inclusions (FIs) with high internal pressure (i.e., > 15 MPa). Secondly, the v1(CH4) peak position shifts to lower wavenumber with increasing pressure at constant temperature, confirming that the v1(CH4) peak position can be used to calculate the fluid pressure. However, this method should be carefully calibrated before applying to FI analyses because large discrepancies exist among the reported v1(CH4)-P curves, especially in the high-pressure range. These calibrations are applied to CH4-rich FIs in quartz veins of the Silurian Longmaxi black shales in southern Sichuan Basin. The vapor phases of these FIs are mainly composed of CH4 and minor CO2, with CO2 molar fractions from 4.4% to 7.4%. The pressure of single-phase gas FI ranges from 103.65 to 128.35 MPa at room temperature, which is higher than previously reported. Thermodynamic calculations supported the presence of extremely high-pressure CH4-saturated fluid (218.03–256.82 MPa at 200 °C), which may be responsible for the expulsion of CH4 to adjacent reservoirs. Chromoblastomycosis (CBM) is a chronic cutaneous and subcutaneous fungal infection caused by certain dematiaceous fungi (usually Fonsecaea, Phialophora , or Cladophialophora). Histologically, CBM is characterized by the presence of medlar bodies. However, the diagnosis is difficult because of the rarity of these pathognomonic presentations and the wide variety of presentations. Treatment of these infections is challenging as it lacks standardization. Herein, we report a case of chromoblastomycosis caused by Phialophora , in a 42-year-old immunocompetent male agriculturist from the humid and subtropical region of southern China. He had a 3-month history of pneumonia with intermittent fever, coughing, and expectoration. The infection subsequently spread to the bone and lymph nodes forming deep lesions and eventually resulting in osteolysis and lymphadenectasis. These subcutaneous nodules were observed after 9 months. Antifungal treatment was administered for 20 months leading to clinical improvement before the patient was lost to follow-up. Microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitously distributed in freshwater systems and they can determine the environmental fate of organic pollutants (OPs) via sorption interaction. However, the diverse physicochemical properties of MPs and the wide range of OP species make a deeper understanding of sorption mechanisms challenging. Traditional isotherm-based sorption models are limited in their universality since they normally only consider the nature and characteristics of either sorbents or sorbates individually. Therefore, only specific equilibrium concentrations or specific sorption isotherms can be used to predict sorption. To systematically evaluate and predict OP sorption under the influence of both MPs and OPs properties, we collected 475 sorption data from peer-reviewed publications and developed a poly-parameter-linear-free-energy-relationship-embedded machine learning method to analyze the collected sorption datasets. Models of different algorithms were compared, and the genetic algorithm and support vector machine hybrid model displayed the best prediction performance (R2 of 0.93 and root-mean-square-error of 0.07). Finally, comparison results of three feature importance analysis tools (forward step wise method, Shapley method, and global sensitivity analysis) showed that chemical properties of MPs, excess molar refraction, and hydrogen-bonding interaction of OPs contribute the most to sorption, reflecting the dominant sorption mechanisms of hydrophobic partitioning, hydrogen bond formation, and π-π interaction, respectively. This study presents a novel sorbate-sorbent-based ML model with a wide applicability to expand our capacity in understanding the complicated process and mechanism of OP sorption on MPs. Over the past 20 years, the spatial distribution of electrical generation and its relationship to cross-regional power transmission has impacted China's power generation system and significantly affected the total amount of NO x and the aggregated nitrogen oxides intensity (ANI) of the system. An investigation of the driving mechanisms of ANI that considers the unevenness of regional electricity generation will be crucial to future improvements in the NO x efficiency of the electrical generation system in China. In this study, we built a decomposition model for ANI by incorporating the spatial distribution of electrical generation and found that the spatial distribution of electricity generation together with energy-related factors gradually caused decreases in ANI. The efficiency of electricity generation presented the dominant inhibitory effect on ANI, but its effect size has weakened since 2010. In contrast, the fossil fuel structure of thermal power shows an increasingly positive effect on changes in ANI. The primary energy composition only slightly affected changes in ANI. Moreover, the changed geographical distribution of electricity generation is non-negligible and has a positive effect on reduction of the ANI of the Chinese electrical generation system. The transferred amount of local NO x emissions by cross-provincial electricity transmission, however, could cause lead to additional environmental costs for generators. This issue should receive more attention in the future. Periodontitis is a common oral disease characterized by progressive destruction of periodontal tissue and loss of teeth. However, regeneration of periodontal tissue is a time-consuming process. Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) is a widely used non-invasive intervention for enhancing bone healing in fractures and non-unions. With the hypothesis that LIPUS may accelerate periodontal regeneration, the effects of LIPUS on periodontal tissue regeneration were investigated both in vitro and in vivo. LIPUS (90 mw/cm 2 , 20 min/d, 1.5 MHz) was applied to stimulate dog periodontal ligament cells (dPDLCS). The mRNA expression of BSP (P < 0.05), OPN (P < 0.05) and COL3 (P < 0.05) was increased significantly in the LIPUS group. The positive stained mineralized nodules by alizarin red in the LIPUS group were greater than in the control group (P < 0.05). Eight male beagle dogs were divided into 4 groups: guided tissue regeneration (GTR) group (G1), LIPUS + GTR group (G2), LIPUS group (G3), and control group (G4, no treatment). A 4 × 5 mm 2 defect was created in the buccal alveolar bone. The modeling areas in the G2 and G3 groups were then exposed to LIPUS. Eight weeks after surgery, histological assessment indicated increased periodontal tissue in the LIPUS + GTR group. Micro computed tomography (micro-CT) showed that the regenerated bone volume (BV) in the G2 was significantly higher than that in the G1, G3 and G4 groups (P < 0.05). The bone surface (BS) trabecular number (Tb.N) and trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) in G2 were markedly higher than in G4 (P < 0.05). Oil-soluble catalysts could be of special significance for reducing the viscosity of heavy crude oil, because of their good dispersion in crude oil and high catalytic efficiency toward aquathermolysis. Ferric oleate was synthesized and applied as catalyst in the aquathermolysis reaction of Shengli heavy oil. It was found that ferric oleate was more efficient for heavy oil cracking than Co and Ni oleates. Besides, it was superior to oleic acid and inorganic ferric nitrate and achieved the highest viscosity reduction rate of up to 86.1%. In addition, the changes in the components of Shengli heavy oil before and after aquathermolysis were investigated by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Results indicated that ferric oleate contributed to a significant increase in the content of light components and decrease in the content of resin, N and S. The as-prepared ferric oleate showed good activity for reducing the viscosity and improving the quality of the heavy crude oil, showing promising application potential in aquathermolysis of heavy crude oil. The increasing number of cases diagnosed in HIV-negative individuals may be associated with the better clinical recognition of talaromycosis among HIV-negative individuals, the advances in genetic testing and immunological diagnostics, and the discovery of new forms of immunodeficiency, such as primary immunodeficiency and adult-onset immunodeficiency syndrome due to AIGAs. Microplastics (MPs), as plastics with a size of less than 5 mm, are ubiquitously present in the environment and become an increasing environmental concern. The fate and environmental behavior of MPs are significantly influenced by the presence of free radicals. Free radicals can cause surface breakage, chemical release, change in crystallinity and hydrophilicity, and aggregation of MPs. On the other hand, the generation of free radicals with a high concentration and oxidation potential can effectively degrade MPs. There is a limited review article to bridge the fate and environmental behaviors of MP with free radicals and their reactions. This paper reviews the sources, types, detection methods, generation mechanisms, and influencing factors of free radicals affecting the environmental processes of MPs, the environmental effects of MPs controlled by free radicals, and the degradation strategies of MPs based on free radical-associated technologies. Moreover, this review elaborates on the limitations of the current research and provides ideas for future research on the interactions between MPs and free radicals to better explain their environmental impacts and control their risks. This article aims to keep the reader abreast of the latest development in the fate and environmental behaviors of MP with free radicals and their reactions and to bridge free radical chemistry with MP control methodology. • An innovative cathode-enhanced EOCFB-MES (CC-FeCB) was first constructed with nano-Fe 3 O 4 modification. • The CC-FeCB was firstly applied in 2300 m2 of urban surface water for 1-year operation. • CC-FeCB showed excellent pollutant removal via ectopic electron compensation in low-carbon water. • Electroactive bacteria and nitrogen converting bacteria were visibly enriched in CC-FeCB. • The ectopic electron compensation mechanism with Fe 3 O 4 -modified cathode in CC-FeCB was studied. Ecological floating bed coupled with microbial electrochemical system (ECOFB-MES) has great application potential in micro-polluted water remediation yet limited by low electron transfer efficiency on the microbial/electrode interface. Here, an innovative cathode-enhanced EOCFB-MES was constructed with nano-Fe 3 O 4 modification and applied for in-situ remediation both at lab scale (6 L, 62-day operation) and demonstration scale (2300 m2, 1-year operation). The cathode-enhanced ECOFB-MES exhibited superior removal in TOC (81.43 ± 2.05%), TN (85.12% ± 1.46%) and TP (59.80 ± 2.27%), much better than those of original ECOFB-MES and anode-enhanced ECOFB-MES in the laboratory test. Meanwhile, cathode-enhanced ECOFB-MES boosted current output by 33% than that of original ECOFB-MES, which made a great contribution to the improvement of ectopic electronic compensation for pollutant decontamination. Notably, cathode-enhanced ECOFB-MES presented high efficiency, stability and durability in the demonstration test, and fulfilled the average concentration of COD (9.5 ± 2.81 mg/L), TN (1.00 ± 0.21 mg/L) and TP (0.10 ± 0.04 mg/L) of effluent water to meet the Grade III (GB 3838–2002) with stable operation stage. Based on the KOSIM calculation, the removal loads of cathode-enhanced ECOFB-MES in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus could reach 37.14 g COD/(d·m2), 2.62 g TN/(d·m2) and 0.55 g TP/(d·m2), respectively. According to the analysis of microbial communities and functional genes, the cathode modified by Fe 3 O 4 made a sensible enrichment in electroactive bacteria (EAB) and nitrogen-converting bacteria (NCB) as well as facilitated the functional genes expression in electron transfer and nitrogen metabolism, resulting in the synergistic removal of carbon in sediment and nitrite in water. However, the establishment of suitable pore sizes for MES 3D anodes and the effect of different micron-pore sizes on system performance has not been thoroughly studied. Here, we found the change in pore size affected the start-up time and bio-electrochemical performance by affecting the physical characteristics (surface area and porosity) and mass transfer of the 3D anode. The introduction of pore size on 3D anodes led to the mass transfer limitation of substrate and buffer species, and this phenomenon was severe as pore size decreased. The mass transfer limitation of substrate supply inside the pore imposed a selective pressure to enrich Geobacter from 18.45% to 72.96% when the pore size decreased from 800 μm to 100 μm. However, the acidification brought by the mass transfer limitation of the buffer species affected the activity of microorganisms and played a more important role leading to the 3D anode with 800 μm pore size achieving higher power densities (4593.3 ± 78.2 mW/m3), 1.7 times that of the 3D anode with 100 μm pore size (2782.6 ± 79.2 mW/m3). The present research provides a reference for the construction of high-performance 3D structured anodes and an in-depth understanding of the effect of pore size on system performance. In this paper, we present the imaging and spectroscopic observations of the simultaneous horizontal and vertical large-amplitude oscillation of a quiescent filament triggered by an extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) wave on 2022 October 2. Particularly, the filament oscillation involved winking phenomenon in H α images and horizontal motions in EUV images. Originally, a filament and its overlying loops across AR 13110 and 13113 erupted with a highly inclined direction, resulting in an X1.0 flare and a non-radial coronal mass ejection. The fast lateral expansion of loops excited an EUV wave and the corresponding Moreton wave propagating northward. Once the EUV wave front arrived at the quiescent filament, the filament began to oscillate coherently along the horizontal direction, and the "winking filament" appeared concurrently in H α images. The horizontal oscillation involved an initial amplitude of ∼10.2 Mm and a velocity amplitude of ∼46.5 km s−1, lasting for ∼3 cycles with a period of ∼18.2 minutes and a damping time of ∼31.1 minutes. The maximum Doppler velocities of the oscillating filament are 18 km s−1 (redshift) and −24 km s−1 (blueshift), which were derived from the spectroscopic data provided by the Chinese H α Solar Explorer/H α Imaging Spectrograph. The three-dimensional velocity of the oscillation is determined to be ∼50 km s−1 at an angle of ∼50° to the local photosphere plane. Based on the wave–filament interaction, the minimum energy of the EUV wave is estimated to be 2.7 × 1020 J. Frequent viral epidemics in recent years urge the development of efficient and convenient techniques for virus detection and antiviral drugs development. As the most popular gene-editing tools, engineered systems based on clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR-associated proteins (Cas) possess high specificity and efficiency in nucleic acid targeting and cleavage, which have also been widely used in virological research and medical practice. This review briefly introduces the features of three most commonly used CRISPR/Cas systems, including Cas9, Cas12 and Cas13, and comprehensively concludes their application in virus detection and antiviral therapeutics. For virus detection, Cas9 enhances the sensitivity and accuracy of biosensor detection by combining it with biosensors such as fluorescent sensors, electrochemical sensors, and lateral flow chromatography. As for Cas12 and Cas13, multiple technologies have been developed to detect DNA and RNA viruses based on their trans-cleavage activity, such as SHERLOCK and DETECTR. As CRISPR/Cas-based antiviral techniques, Cas9 has been employed to cleave viral DNA, including genomes of DNA viruses and intermediate DNA of retroviruses, while Cas13 has been used to target viral RNA, including genomes of RNA viruses and viral mRNA. Although CRISPR/Cas systems have shown multiple advantages in sensitivity, efficiency and convenience, they still bear some limitations, such as offtarget effect, immunogenicity and carcinogenicity. In summary, this manuscript provides an overview of current progress in the application of different CRISPR/Cas systems as promising tools in virus detection and antiviral therapy. In China, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions have been declining in recent years, whereas NOx generation continues to increase. This has prompted a growing focus of policy design to inspect the driving mechanisms of NOx generation. In this study, a decomposition model of NOx generation in China from 1995 to 2014 was built using the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) method. According to the decomposition results, technological effects (e.g., energy intensity and the sector generation factor) inhibited NOx generation in China, while gross domestic product (GDP) per capita was found to have the most positive effect on increasing NOx generation, accounting for 151.00% of the total change and showing an increasing trend in recent years. The sector structure of energy consumption always increased NOx generation, which contradicts the results of previous studies. All population effects considered in this study contributed to the growth in NOx generation. The population scale effect was increasingly impactful on the growth of NOx generation; the population spatial structure was active but less impactful. In general, technological impact cannot offset the increases caused by economic, structural, and population effects. Considering NOx reduction policy in China, more attention should be given to emission reduction policies, energy consumption, and socio-economic effects; together, these approaches will improve initiatives to reduce NOx. Abstract: Tanshinone IIA (TAN) is one of the major functional compounds of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge and possesses the ability to suppress the growth of multiple cancer cell types via its apoptosis‐ and autophagy‐inducing functions. In this study, the effect of TAN therapy on the survival of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) was evaluated, and the underlying mechanism involved in the treatment was investigated. Human oral squamous cell carcinoma cell SCC‐9 was used for in vitro assays and induction in an OSCC xenograft mouse model. The tumor cells were subjected to TAN administration at different concentrations. Then the apoptosis and autophagy processes in SCC‐9 cells were evaluated and the activities of Beclin‐1/Atg7/Atg12‐Atg5 and PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathways were determined. In addition, by knocking down the expression of Beclin‐1 in SCC‐9 cells, the study also assessed the role of the indicator in the anti‐OSCC effect of TAN. Results of in vitro assays were further validated with an OSCC xenograft mouse model. Administration of TAN‐induced cell apoptosis and upregulated the expression of cleaved‐caspase‐3. Simultaneously, the autophagy process in SCC‐9 cells was initiated by TAN, which was signaled by the formation of autophagosomes and increase in the ratio of LC3 II/LC3I. The above processes were associated with the activation of Beclin‐1/Atg7/Atg12‐Atg5 signaling and inhibition of PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling. Our results also inferred a partially Beclin‐1‐dependent mechanism of action of TAN in OSCC cells: knockdown of the Beclin‐1 blocked the effect of TAN on SCC‐9 cells both in vivo and in vitro. Our study provided a preliminary explanation of the mechanism involved in TAN effect: the agent exerted its autophagy‐inducing effect against OSCC in a multipronged manner, by both inducing the Beclin‐1/Atg7/Atg12‐Atg5 pathway and suppressing the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway. Nuclear factor of activated T cells 5 (NFAT5)/Tonicity enhancer binding protein (TonEBP) is a transcription factor induced by hypertonic stress in the kidney. However, the function of NFAT5 in other organs has rarely been studied, even though it is ubiquitously expressed. Indeed, although NFAT5 was reported to be critical for heart development and function, its role in infectious heart diseases has remained obscure. In this study, we aimed to understand the mechanism by which NFAT5 interferes with infection of Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3), a major cause of viral myocarditis. Our initial results demonstrated that although the mRNA level of NFAT5 remained constant during CVB3 infection, NFAT5 protein level decreased because the protein was cleaved. Bioinformatic prediction and verification of the predicted site by site-directed mutagenesis experiments determined that the NFAT5 protein was cleaved by CVB3 protease 2A at Glycine 503. Such cleavage led to the inactivation of NFAT5, and the 70-kDa N-terminal cleavage product (p70-NFAT5) exerted a dominant negative effect on the full-length NFAT5 protein. We further showed that elevated expression of NFAT5 to counteract viral protease cleavage, especially overexpression of a non-cleavable mutant of NFAT5, significantly inhibited CVB3 replication. Ectopic expression of NFAT5 resulted in elevated expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), a factor reported to inhibit CVB3 replication. The necessity of iNOS for the anti-CVB3 effect of NFAT5 was supported by the observation that inhibition of iNOS blocked the anti-CVB3 effect of NFAT5. In a murine model of viral myocarditis, we observed that treatment with hypertonic saline or mannitol solution upregulated NFAT5 and iNOS expression, inhibited CVB3 replication and reduced tissue damage in the heart. Taken together, our data demonstrate that the anti-CVB3 activity of NFAT5 is impaired during CVB3 infection due to 2A-mediated cleavage of NFAT5. Somatosensory networks that provide sophisticated sensory feedback and enable the dexterous manipulation of the human grasp remain difficult to replicate in robots, which is attributed to the grand challenge of densely covering the hand with tactile arrays. Here, a multisensory tactile glove is reported that is capable of object recognition with dense coverage of pressure and temperature sensing arrays. The synergistic effect of the multimodal configuration allows the tactile arrays to perceive contact pressure and thermal conductivity of an object involved in grasping motion, thus enhancing the accuracy via the combination of the mechanical features with thermal properties. By leveraging the multiple scanning technology and wireless transmission system, the tactile glove achieves a recognition accuracy of 94.2% in differentiating 20 types of objects with a modified deep learning algorithm. The large-area sensing arrays with high spatiotemporal resolution and multimodal sensing capabilities, which paves the way for the development of robot grasping tools, human–machine interfacing, and advanced prosthetics. [Display omitted] • A novel ECOFB-MES was applied to restore practical polluted urban water bodies. • The TN removal load of ECOFB-MES was 12.7–16.6 times higher than normal ECOFB. • ECOFB-MES increased TC removal efficiency of sediment by 2.4 times. • MES enhanced pollutants removal via electrons compensation under low-carbon water. An innovative ecological floating bed coupled with sedimental microbial electrochemical system (ECOFB-MES) was designed for urban water remediation. A demonstration-scale ECOFB-MES of approximately 500 m2 was firstly constructed to perform the remediation of 8040 m2 urban water located in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. During one-year operation, the COD, NH 4 +–N, NO 3 ¯–N and TP concentrations stabilized around 10.3 ± 4.0 mg/L, 0.04 ± 0.02 mg/L, 0.61 ± 0.27 mg/L and 0.12 ± 0.05 mg/L from May 2021 to December 2021. The COD, TN and TP removal loads in April when MESs were connected were 72.47 g/d/m2, 4.26 g/d/m2 and 0.39 g/d/m2, which were 3.6, 15.3 and 2.8 times higher than those in January (open circuit). The average TC removal efficiency of sediment near anode was 36.7 %, which was 2.4 times higher than that of sediment far from anode (15.5 %). The average current of the MESs improved from 0.6 ± 0.1 mA to 32.0 ± 2.9 mA with reducing external resistance gradually, which was responsible for higher TC removal efficiency and lower dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration (7.78 ± 1.35 mg/L), which could enhance nitrogen removal. The MES enhanced the total number of species and the bacteria diversity of polyester fibers and roots in the same coupled system. The dominant functional bacteria such as Pseudomonas , Gemmobacter , Aeromonas and Arthrobacter beneficial for oxygen reduction and nitrogen removal were found on biocathode, and this indicated that biocathode of present system could reduce nitrate mainly through heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification. We investigate observational signatures of explosive chromospheric evaporation during a white-light flare (WLF) that occurred on 2022 August 27. Using the moment analysis, bisector techniques, and the Gaussian fitting method, redshifted velocities of less than 20 km s−1 are detected in low-temperature spectral lines of H α, C i, and Si iv at the conjugated flare kernels, which could be regarded as downflows caused by chromospheric condensation. Blueshifted velocities of ∼30−40 km s−1 are found in the high-temperature line of Fe xxi, which can be interpreted as upflows driven by chromospheric evaporation. A nonthermal hard X-ray (HXR) source is cospatial with one of the flare kernels, and the Doppler velocities are temporally correlated with the HXR fluxes. The nonthermal energy flux is estimated to be at least (1.3 ± 0.2) × 1010 erg s−1 cm−2. The radiation enhancement at Fe i 6569.2 Å and 6173 Å suggests that the flare is a WLF. Moreover, the while-light emission at Fe i 6569.2 Å is temporally and spatially correlated with the blueshift of the Fe xxi line, suggesting that both the white-light enhancement and the chromospheric evaporation are triggered and driven by nonthermal electrons. We previously demonstrated that coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) infection upregulated heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) and promoted CVB3 multiplication. Here, we report the underlying mechanism by which Hsp70 enhances viral RNA translation. By using an Hsp70-overexpressing cell line infected with CVB3, we found that Hsp70 enhanced CVB3 VP1 translation at two stages. First, Hsp70 induced upregulation of VP1 translation at the initiation stage via upregulation of internal ribosome entry site trans-acting factor lupus autoantigen protein and activation of eIF4E binding protein 1, a cap-dependent translation suppressor. Second, we found that Hsp70 increased CVB3 VP1 translation by enhancing translation elongation. This was mediated by the Akt-mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 signal cascade, which led to the activation of eukaryotic elongation factor 2 via p70S6K- and cell division cycle protein 2 homolog (Cdc2)-mediated phosphorylation and inactivation of eukaryotic elongation factor 2 kinase. We also determined the position of Cdc2 in this signal pathway, indicating that Cdc2 is regulated by mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1. This signal transduction pathway was validated using a number of specific pharmacological inhibitors, short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and a dominant negative Akt plasmid. Because Hsp70 is a central component of the cellular network of molecular chaperones enhancing viral replication, these data may provide new strategies to limit this viral infection. Particle patterning, referred to as colloidal patterning or natural patterning, has wide applications in the development of devices for photonic and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy applications. On the other hand, interfacial materials with special wettability properties have gained significant research interest over the past decade. In this study, we developed a self-assembly method for particle patterning using femtosecond (fs)-laser micromachined micro-concave arrays to modify surface wettability. Experimental results showed that arrays of micro-concave structures could reduce the water contact angle from 68° to 36°, thereby increasing the wettability of a surface and providing a uniform dispersion of polystyrene (PS) micro-particles. Subsequently, surfaces with different patterns consisting of these micro-concave structures were used to create more complex patterns of particles on silicon substrates; the patterned particles were able to be transferred to PDMS surfaces directly to create micro-particle templates on the flexible PDMS surface. This work provides new applications for fs-laser micro/nano processing and insights for the advancement of micro/nanoparticle self-assembly processes and transfer-printing in the future. Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is the primary pathogen of viral myocarditis. Upon infection, CVB3 exploits the host cellular machineries, such as chaperone proteins, to benefit its own infection cycles. Inducible heat shock 70-kDa proteins (Hsp70s) are chaperone proteins induced by various cellular stress conditions. The internal ribosomal entry site (IRES) within Hsp70 mRNA allows Hsp70 to be translated cap-independently during CVB3 infection when global cap-dependent translation is compromised. The Hsp70 protein family contains two major members, Hsp70-1 and Hsp70-2. This study showed that Hsp70-1, but not Hsp70-2, was upregulated during CVB3 infection both in vitro and in vivo. Then a novel mechanism of Hsp70-1 induction was revealed in which CaMKIIγ is activated by CVB3 replication and leads to phosphorylation of heat shock factor 1 (HSF1) specifically at Serine 230, which enhances Hsp70-1 transcription. Meanwhile, phosphorylation of Ser230 induces translocation of HSF1 from the cytoplasm to nucleus, thus blocking the ERK1/2-mediated phosphorylation of HSF1 at Ser307, a negative regulatory process of Hsp70 transcription, further contributing to Hsp70-1 upregulation. Finally, we demonstrated that Hsp70-1 upregulation, in turn, stabilizes CVB3 genome via the AU-rich element (ARE) harbored in the 3′ untranslated region of CVB3 genomic RNA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
