The generation and storage of spin squeezing is an attracting topic in quantum metrology and the foundations of quantum mechanics. The major models to realize the spin squeezing are the one- and two-axis twisting models. Here, we consider a collective spin system coupled to a bosonic field, and show that proper constant-value controls in this model can simulate the dynamical behaviors of these two models. More interestingly, a better performance of squeezing can be obtained when the control is time-varying, which is generated via a reinforcement learning algorithm. However, this advantage becomes limited if the collective noise is involved. To deal with it, we propose a four-step strategy for the construction of a new type of combined controls, which include both constant-value and time-varying controls, but performed at different time intervals. Compared to the full time-varying controls, the combined controls not only give a comparable minimum value of the squeezing parameter over time, but also provides a better lifetime and larger full amount of squeezing. Moreover, the amplitude form of a combined control is simpler and more stable than the full time-varying control. We study the quantum critical effect enhanced spin-nematic squeezing and quantum Fisher information (QFI) in the spin-1 dipolar atomic Bose-Einstein condensate. We show that the quantum phase transitions can improve the squeezing and QFI in the nearby regime of critical point, and the Heisenberg-limited high-precision metrology can be obtained. The different properties of the ground squeezing and entanglement under even and odd number of atoms are further analyzed, by calculating the exact analytical expressions.We also demonstrate the squeezing and entanglement generated by the spin-mixing dynamics around the phase transition point. It is shown that the steady squeezing and entanglement can be obtained, and the Bogoliubov approximation can well describe the dynamics of spin-nematic squeezed vacuum state., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in PRA

We propose a simple scheme to realize the persistent spin-nematic squeezing in a spinor Bose–Einstein condensate by rapidly turning-off the external magnetic field at a time that maximal spin-nematic squeezing occurs. We observe that the optimal spin-nematic squeezing can be maintained in a nearly fixed direction. For a proper initial magnetic field, the optimal squeezing can be obviously enhanced. We further construct a spin-mixing interferometer, where the quantum correlation of the squeezed state (generated by our scheme) is fully utilized in the phase measurement, and show the phase sensitivity of the interferometer has a significant enhancement.

We consider the effects of dipole-dipole interactions on a nonlinear interferometer with spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensates. Compared with the traditional atomic SU(1,1) interferometer, the shot-noise phase sensitivity can be beaten with respect to the input total average number of particles; and the improved sensitivity depends on the effective strength of the dipolar interaction via modifying the trapping geometry. It indicates that the best performance of the interferometer is achieved with highly oblate trap potential. The Bayesian phase estimation strategy is explored to extract the phase information. We show that the Cramér-Rao phase uncertainly bound can saturate, when the ideal dis-entangle scheme is applied. The phase average of the phase sensitivity is also discussed.

We propose a spectrometric method to detect a classical weak force acting upon the moving end mirror in a cavity optomechanical system. The force changes the equilibrium position of the end mirror, and thus the resonance frequency of the cavity field depends on the force to be detected. As a result, the magnitude of the force can be inferred by analyzing the single-photon emission and scattering spectra of the optomechanical cavity. Since the emission and scattering processes are much faster than the characteristic mechanical dissipation, the influence of the mechanical thermal noise is negligible in this spectrometric detection scheme. We also extent this spectrometric method to detect a monochromatic oscillating force by utilizing an optomechanical coupling modulated at the same frequency as the force., 16 pages, 6 figures

We propose a scheme to obtain the Heisenberg-limited parameter estimation precision by immersing atoms in a thermally equilibrated quasi-one-dimensional dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate reservoir. We show that the collisions between the dipolar atoms and the immersed atoms can result in a controllable nonlinear interaction through tuning the relative strength and the sign of the dipolar and contact interaction. We find that the repulsive dipolar interaction reservoir is preferential for the spin squeezing and the appearance of an entangled non-Gaussian state. As a useful resource for quantum metrology, we also show that the non-Gaussian state results in the phase estimation precision in the Heisenberg scaling, outperforming that of the spin-squeezed state., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

We propose a scheme to implement a supersensitive estimation of the coupling strength in a hybrid optomechanical system which consists of a cavity-Bose-Einstein condensate system coupled to an impurity. This method can dramatically improve the estimation precision even when the involved photon number is small. The quantum Fisher information indicates that the Heisenberg scale sensitivity of the coupling rate could be obtained when the photon loss rate is smaller than the corresponding critical value in the input of either coherent state or squeezed state. The critical photon decay rate for the coherent state is larger than that of the squeezed state, and the coherent state input case is more robust against the photon loss than the squeezed state case. We investigate the possibility to control quantum evolution speed of a single dephasing qubit for arbitrary initial states by the use of periodic dynamical decoupling (PDD) pulses. It is indicated that the quantum speed limit time (QSLT) is determined by initial and final quantum coherence of the qubit, as well as the non-Markovianity of the system under consideration during the evolution when the qubit is subjected to a zero-temperature Ohmic-like dephasing reservoir. It is shown that final quantum coherence of the qubit and the non-Markovianity of the system can be modulated by PDD pulses. Our results show that for arbitrary initial states of the dephasing qubit with non-vanishing quantum coherence, PDD pulses can be used to induce potential acceleration of the quantum evolution in the short-time regime, while PDD pulses can lead to potential speedup and slow down in the long-time regime. We demonstrate that the effect of PDD on the QSLT for the Ohmic or sub-Ohmic spectrum (Markovian reservoir) is much different from that for the super-Ohmic spectrum (non-Markovian reservoir).

We propose a scheme to realize a Heisenberg-scaled magnetometer using dipolar spin-1 condensates. The input state of magnetometer is prepared by slowly sweeping a transverse magnetic field to zero, which yields a highly entangled spin state of $N$ atoms. We show that this process is protected by a parity symmetry such that the state preparation time is within the reach of the current experiment. We also propose a parity measurement with a Stern-Gerlach apparatus which is shown to approach the optimal measurement in the large atom number limit. Finally, we show that the phase estimation sensitivity of the proposed scheme roughly follows the Heisenberg scaling.

In this paper, we study quantum dynamics of entanglement and single excitation transfer (SET) in an LH1-RC-type trimer which can describe a basic unit cell in the LH1-RC complex in the photosynthetic process. It is shown that there exists a sudden change of entanglement at the critic point of quantum phase transition (QPT) of the system at low temperatures, the entanglement sudden change caused by the QPT is suppressed at higher temperatures. We investigate the influence of environment on entanglement and SET. We show the generation of the dephasing-assisted entanglement between a donor and an acceptor and the existence of the steady-state entanglement, and demonstrate the entanglement transfer from donor-donor entanglement to donor-acceptor entanglement in the dynamic evolution. We reveal the close relation between the SET probability and donor-acceptor entanglement. Especially, we find that the SET probability is proportional to the amount of donor-acceptor entanglement under certain conditions.

We study the multi-qubit entanglement transfer in a hybrid circuit quantum electrodynamics system, where the memory and operation registers are, respectively, implemented using nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond and superconducting charge qubits, because of their respective good coherence and controllability. We show that, with some local operations, both the Bell states and multi-qubit W states can be transferred perfectly in the non-dissipative case. In addition, we also consider the influence of the decoherence on the state transfer. It is found that a high-fidelity state transfer can be achieved only when the decoherence rates are much smaller than the coupling strength between the qubits.

We propose a theoretical scheme to generate a controllable and switchable coupling between two double-quantum-dot (DQD) spin qubits by using a transmission line resonator (TLR) as a bus system. We study dynamical behaviors of quantum correlations described by entanglement correlation (EC) and discord correlation (DC) between two DQD spin qubits when the two spin qubits and the TLR are initially prepared in $X$-type quantum states and a coherent state, respectively. We demonstrate that in the EC death regions there exist DC stationary states in which the stable DC amplification or degradation can be generated during the dynamical evolution. It is shown that these DC stationary states can be controlled by initial-state parameters, the coupling, and detuning between qubits and the TLR. We reveal the full synchronization and anti-synchronization phenomena in the EC and DC time evolution, and show that the EC and DC synchronization and anti-synchronization depends on the initial-state parameters of the two DQD spin qubits. We derive a general expression of the quantum Fisher information for a Mach-Zehnder interferometer, with the port inputs of an \emph{arbitrary} pure state and a squeezed thermal state. We find that the standard quantum limit can be beaten, when even or odd states are applied to the pure-state port. In particular, when the squeezed thermal state becomes a thermal state, all the even or odd states have the same quantum Fisher information for given photon numbers. For a squeezed thermal state, optimal even or odd states are needed to approach the Heisenberg limit. As examples, we consider several common even or odd states: Fock states, even or odd coherent states, squeezed vacuum states, and single-photon-subtracted squeezed vacuum states. We investigate the coherence dynamics of a two-mode Bose-Einstein condensate coupled with the environment in the mean-field approximation. We give an analytical result of the time-average coherence in the absence of system-environment coupling, and find that the time-average coherence attains its maximum value at the critical point which corresponds to the boundary between the self-trapping regime and the Josephson oscillation regime. The effect of noise on dynamical coherence is also considered by analyzing the couplings of the condensate to the environment. With the first kind of coupling, the coherence finally stabilizes at a fixed value. Meanwhile, we show that the presence of the noise can even enhance the coherence for some particular interaction. With the second kind of coupling as collisional dephasing, the noise leads a sudden transition of the coherence which then subjects to an exponential decay.

We study the dephasing-assisted parameter estimation precision (PEP) enhancement in an atom interferometer with dynamical decoupling (DD) pulses. Through calculating the spin squeezing (SS) and the quantum Fisher information, we find that dephasing noise can improve PEP by inducing SS, and the DD pulses can maximize the improvement. It is indicated that when using the DD pulse the dephasing-induced SS can reach the limit of ``one-axis twisting'' model ${\ensuremath{\xi}}^{2}\ensuremath{\simeq}{N}^{\ensuremath{-}2/3}$ with ${\ensuremath{\xi}}^{2}$ being the SS parameter and $N$ the number of atoms. In particular, we find that the DD pulses can amplify the dephasing-induced quantum Fisher information by a factor of $\ensuremath{\simeq}N/2$ compared with the noise-free case, which means that under the control of DD pulses, the dephasing noise can enhance the precision of parameter estimation to the scale of $\sqrt{2}/N$, the same scale of the Heisenberg limit ($1/N$).

We present a scheme to enhance the precision of parameter estimation (PPE) in noisy systems by employing dynamical decoupling pulses. An exact analytical expression for the estimation precision of an unknown parameter is obtained by using the transfer matrix and time-dependent Kraus operators. We show that the PPE in noisy systems can be preserved in the Heisenberg limit by control of the dynamical decoupling pulses. It is found that a larger number of pulses and longer reservoir correlation time can greatly protect the PPE.

We study exciton transfer dynamics in a trimer system by investigating excitation transfer probability (ETP). We calculate ETP in the zero-temperature limit and theoretically predict the environment-assisted quantum critical effect, in which ETP exhibits a sudden change at the critical point of quantum phase transition for the trimer. In particular, we find that the steady-state ETP can be observed in the presence of the environment interaction.
