Background: Cilostazol is a drug of choice for the treatment of intermittent claudication that also affects innate and adaptive immune cells. The purpose of our study was the evaluation of cilostazol’s impact on the immune and angiogenic response in murine models of hind limb ischemia. Methods: We used 108 immunodeficient NOD.CB17-Prkdcscid/J mice and 108 wild-type CB17 mice. At day 0 (D0), all animals underwent hind limb ischemia. Half of them in both groups received daily cilostazol starting at D0 and for the next 7 postoperative days, while the rest of them served as controls, receiving vehicle. Interleukin (IL) 2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17A, tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), and interferon γ (IFN-γ) serum concentrations were measured by flow cytometry on postsurgery days D1, D3, D5, and D7. On D7, both groups underwent positron emission tomography scan with 68Ga-RGD. Mice were euthanatized and gastrocnemius muscles were obtained for histological evaluation. The purpose of this study is to examine the link between the reputational components of efficacy and moral reliability of institutions, and citizens' compliance with institutional recommendations. Research on bureaucratic reputations highlights the significance of positive political reputations based on credibility and legitimacy, but the impact of these components is not systematically isolated and studied. We draw insights from political psychology to move beyond a positive-negative valence-based approach of reputation, and highlight the different effect of efficacy and moral reliability components of reputation on citizens' cooperation, engagement in water saving activities, and levels of complaints. We use the Cypriot Water Authority as a case study and inquire how its institutional reputation influences Cypriot citizens' behavior regarding water use. Our data was collected via a representative national survey administered to a random sample of 800 Cypriots in the spring of 2009 and show that favorable perceptions of particular components of institutional reputation shape the levels of satisfaction with specific organizational outputs.

Benthic macrofauna is a biological quality element required for the lagoons’ ecological status assessment in application of the water framework directive. In the Mediterranean area, indices were developed to asses the ecological status of saline lagoons; however they are not relevant in oligohalin to mesohalin ones. The aim of this study was (i) to characterise the benthic macrofauna of six oligomesohalin lagoons, (ii) to explore the possibility to calculate benthic macrofauna metrics commonly included in indices dedicated to freshwater lakes assessment, iii) to analyse the responses of these metrics to physico-chemical stressors. Benthic macrofauna was sampled in spring, in the central part of lagoons and taxa were identified in the laboratory. About 50 metrics were then calculated to characterise composition and diversity of the communities. In the same time, water and sediment were sampled to assess the main physicocharacteristics of the lagoons. The pressures occurring in the catchment were collected in the literature. Graphical analyses were then conducted to highlight metrics responses to these environmental parameters. The variability between lagoons of benthic macrofauna is high but always dominated by freshwater taxa; consequently it has been possible to calculate most of the candidate metrics commonly used in freshwater systems. The natural and anthropogenic parameters of the six lagoons are also very different. No sound relationship was found between the intensity of pressures and the values of the metrics. These one-off samplings are not sufficient to get a robust description of the fauna communities; additionally, scarcity of the sites classified in oligohalin or mesohalin and the high environmental variability of these sites, prevent robust analyses. Some perspectives are discussed.; La macrofaune benthique est un des éléments de qualité biologique entrant dans la caractérisation de l’état écologique des lagunes. Sur les milieux oligohalins à mésohalines méditerranéens, les indices classiquement utilisés en milieux lagunaires plus salés ne sont pas applicables ; Dans ce contexte, nous avons exploré la possibilité de sélectionner des métriques issues des travaux conduits en milieux d’eau douce, pour rendre compte d’une altération de la qualité physico-chimique de 6 lagunes oligohalines à mésohalines du pourtour méditerranéen. Les prélèvements biologiques ont été effectués au printemps dans la zone centrale des lagunes et les taxons identifiés au laboratoire. A partir des compositions faunistiques observées, une cinquantaine de métriques candidates à la bioindication décrivant la composition et la diversité des communautés ont été calculées. Parallèlement, des prélèvements et mesures ont été faits afin de définir les principales caractéristiques physico-chimiques de l’eau et des sédiments à même d’influencer les peuplements d’invertébrés. Des données de pressions/forces motrices s’exerçant sur ces milieux ont aussi été collectées dans la littérature. Les données biologiques ont ensuite été confrontées aux données de milieux. Les résultats montrent de fortes variabilités dans les communautés biologiques, d’un point de vue qualitatif et quantitatif. Ils mettent en évidence aussi d’importantes différences dans les conditions environnementales naturelles et de pressions des 6 lagunes. Les communautés observées sont dominées par des taxons communément rencontrés en eaux douces ; de ce fait, une partie importante des métriques utilisées en bioindication sur ces milieux ont pu être calculées. La mise en relation des valeurs prises par ces métriques avec les variables de pression ne montre cependant pas de tendance nette et/ou écologiquement interprétable. Outre le fait que ces prélèvements ponctuels ne sont pas suffisants pour caractériser les lagunes, le nombre limité de sites et leur forte variabilité environnementale représente une difficulté majeure dans la démarche.
