This paper presents a novel methodology for short-term load forecasting in the context of significant shifts in the daily load curve due to the rapid and extensive adoption of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). The proposed solution, built upon the Similar Days Method (SDM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN), introduces several novelties: (1) selection of similar days based on hidden representations of day data using Autoencoder (AE); (2) enhancement of model generalization by utilizing a broader set of training examples; (3) incorporating the relative importance of training examples derived from the similarity measure during training; and (4) mitigation of the influence of outliers by applying an ensemble of ANN models trained with different data splits. The presented AE configuration and procedure for selecting similar days generated a higher-quality training dataset, which led to more robust predictions by the ANN model for days with unexpected deviations. Experiments were conducted on actual load data from a Serbian electrical power system, and the results were compared to predictions obtained by the field-proven STLF tool. The experiments demonstrated an improved performance of the presented solution on test days when the existing STLF tool had poor predictions over the past year. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of this study is to conduct a theoretical review of the differences in interaction with child and adolescent audiences on TikTok and YouTube. The review highlights the dynamics and viral challenges of TikTok, which encourages creativity and active participation, while YouTube offers a more comprehensive and educational approach. The literature review identifies three areas of interest: content created by minor influencers, communicative factors that explain their persuasiveness, and the vulnerability of minor influencers and their followers. A paucity of research comparing the behaviour of users on both platforms is observed. It is of paramount importance to consider the protection of minors and the need for greater regulation. The emergence of prosumers, who actively participate in designing and producing goods, has generated a growing interest in homemade products. Factors such as design methods, component reuse, or digital fabrication empower prosumer designers to realize their ideas. Although there are cases of bioinspired products manufactured by prosumers, the interactions between bioinspired design methods in the prosumer field have not been addressed from an academic point of view. This article presents a case that combines bioinspired design methods with prosumer characteristics from the perspective of a designer who uses biological research results whilst acting as a prosumer. The proposal is to see whether working on a small scale, without the need for biomimetics experts, and independently, as a prosumer, is feasible and valuable. As a result, a bicycle flashlight is designed with a microgenerator bioinspired by the geometry of samara seeds, and is tested in a wind tunnel. This case shows that the integration of a bioinspired design in prosumer contexts poses unique challenges and requires a multidisciplinary approach. Furthermore, the application of a bioinspired approach in this case has not only provided a certain level of novelty to the final product, but has also improved its efficiency and reduced its financial expenditure. The European Union has established ambitious targets for lowering carbon dioxide emissions in the residential sector, aiming for all new buildings to be "zero-emission" by 2030. Integrating solar generators with hydrogen storage systems is emerging as a viable solution for achieving these goals in homes. This paper introduces a linear programming optimization algorithm aimed at improving the installation capacity of residential solar–hydrogen systems, which also utilize waste heat recovery from electrolyzers and fuel cells to increase the overall efficiency of the system. Analyzing six European cities with diverse climate conditions, our techno-economic assessments show that optimized configurations of these systems can lead to significant net present cost savings for electricity and heat over a 20-year period, with potential savings up to EUR 63,000, which amounts to a 26% cost reduction, especially in Southern Europe due to its abundant solar resources. Furthermore, these systems enhance sustainability and viability in the residential sector by significantly reducing carbon emissions. Our study does not account for the potential economic benefits from EU subsidies. Instead, we propose a novel incentive policy that allows owners of solar–hydrogen systems to inject up to 20% of their total solar power output directly into the grid, bypassing hydrogen storage. This strategy provides two key advantages: first, it enables owners to profit by selling the excess photovoltaic power during peak midday hours, rather than curtailing production; second, it facilitates a reduction in the size—and therefore cost—of the electrolyzer. In the context of the dual-carbon goal, virtual power plants, microgrids and other forms of prosumers have emerged on a large scale. Energy sharing among multiple prosumers can improve the overall economic efficiency and new energy consumption. A collaborative operation mechanism for energy sharing among multiple prosumers under the weak centralization model is proposed. The mechanism considers the data privacy of each prosumer. Firstly, an internal scheduling model of prosumers with multiple distributed resources is constructed. The model considers the volatility and randomness of load demand and new energy output, quantifying the risk of uncertainty based on conditional value at risk (CVaR). Then, a weakly centralized tariff iteration mechanism for multiple prosumers is proposed, which uses the supply and demand relationship to guide the tariff update. Meanwhile, considering the privacy protection of prosumers, the power data aggregation method is designed based on Paillier homomorphic encryption algorithm and secret sharing principle. The method is able to obtain the system supply and demand information while ensuring the privacy of all parties. Finally, the effectiveness and rationality of the mechanism proposed in this paper is verified by an arithmetic example, and the overall cost of multiple prosumers is reduced by 12.6% after energy sharing.

Abstract Packetized energy encapsulates energy into modulated, routable, and trackable energy packets, enhancing the flexibility of managing distributed energy resources and expediting prosumers’ participation in transactive energy markets. In the context of packetized energy trading (PET), energy prosumers are naturally deemed as self‐interested agents seeking to obtain their own benefits. To align with prosumers’ demand, supply, quality of service (QoS), and system‐level social welfare, it is necessary to explore the design of prosumers’ bidding strategies and the market clearing methods, considering prosumers’ utility and the best demand response to markets. This study addresses challenges arising from prosumers’ selfishness and asymmetric preferences by proposing a PET‐oriented iterative double auction (IDA‐PET) design, where prosumers are allowed to iteratively change the bids before the auctioneer clears the market. Moreover, IDA‐PET accommodates system capacity constraints, energy balance, and economic constraints, providing cooperative strategies for both prosumers and the auctioneer. To validate the effectiveness of IDA‐PET, a novel and dedicated co‐simulation platform based on the hierarchical engine for large‐scale infrastructure co‐simulation platform is developed and case studies are conducted within a residential microgrid. The simulation results demonstrate that IDA‐PET can efficiently enhance the revenue of the auction market while meeting prosumers’ QoS requirements.

The transactive energy market (TEM) is a recent development in energy management that enables prosumers to trade directly, promising many environmental and economic benefits. Prosumer trading necessitates sharing information to facilitate transactions. Additionally, many TEMs propose using blockchains to manage auctions and store transactions. These facts introduce privacy concerns: consumption data, trading history, and other identifying information pose risks to users if leaked. Anonymity by trading under a pseudonym is commonly presented as a solution; however, this creates risks for market participants: scammed users will not have recourse, and users with innocent malfunctions may be banned from trading. We propose the Individually Linkable Pseudonymous Trading Scheme (ILPTS), which enables users to trade under a pseudonym, protecting their identity, while a smart contract monitors reputations and can temporarily deanonymize a user, ensuring market integrity. ILPTS was developed in stages. Examination of existing TEM literature was performed to identify desirable features. Analysis of cryptography literature was performed to identify techniques that may confer certain features. It was found through formal analysis that ILPTS adheres to identified design goals, improves upon existing solutions, and resists common attacks against TEMs. Future work includes software simulation and on-device implementation to further verify security and feasibility. With the deepening of the "renewable energy source-household load-energy storage system" interaction and the development of demand response technology, the emergence of prosumers has led to the need to optimize the microgrids operation. This paper proposes a new optimization technique using a linear programming method to solve the problem of optimal planning of distributed energy resources, including photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems. Optimization of the operation of energy storage systems is a complex problem as it has special limitations, such as requirements for depth of discharge, state of charge limitations, charge and discharge rates, etc. According to the level of generation and load, supplied by the microgrid, the costs of the energy storage system in the consumer, an objective function is established to optimize the capacity of the energy storage system. The purpose of the study is to find the balance of unused energy at the end of the simulated day. In this work, the main goal of optimization is to find the minimum value of the energy storage systems capacity, which provides all the needs of the consumer’s load for the given power of the photovoltaic systems. The strategy of electricity consumption has been developed, aimed at maximization of the the autonomy of the prosumer. The optimal values of battery capacities determined, using the direct search method were simulated and presented. The results of battery capacities are given for the same prosumer with different power values of the rooftop solar power plant. The analysis of the dependence of the battery capacity on the value of the installed power of the photovoltaic systems of the prosumer was carried out. Citizen-driven approaches are promising to overcome the challenges in the energy transition of geographical islands. However, the economic profitability of related activities must be ensured to achieve the intrinsic and sustainable uptake of related solutions in an island's communities. Here, we investigate the long-term (2020–2054) economic profitability of solar-based prosumption on islands belonging to the European Union (EU), soft-linking energy system modelling and actor-related cash-flow analysis. This combination considerably extends common assessments of the profitability of renewable energy technology and long-term projections of island energy systems. We base our case study on the French overseas territory of Mayotte, discussing household affordability and the socio-economic impact of prosumerism. These topics are relevant to transferability on non-EU islands. The profitability of investments in PV depends on (i) the size of the PV system, with larger systems (>9 kWp) profiting from lower specific investment costs compared to smaller systems; (ii) the time of investment, with more profitable investments to be expected in early periods; (iii) the level of decarbonization of the entire energy sector, with an ongoing decarbonization reducing the compensation or energy-saving possibilities; and (iv) the market behavior, with the practice of feeding in all electricity produced rather than self-consuming energy offering a higher expected return on investment under current feed-in-tariff (FiT) compensation schemes. We introduce various policy measures to improve solar rooftop PV profitability and discuss their trade-offs and effectiveness. While indirect subsidies via FiT are generally effective in improving PV profitability, they undermine efforts to incentivize decentralized self-consumption. From the perspective of harmonizing efforts in the energy transition of African and European islands, we recommend a careful evaluation of the trade-offs in relevant regulations required for the economic incentivization of prosumers to achieve compatibility with the principles of a citizen-driven and just energy transition. Particular attention must be paid to context-specific socio-economic characteristics, including low access to financial resources and non-financial access barriers, including legal status. Numerous consumers have become prosumers as a result of Government regulations and incentives designed to promote the production of zero-carbon electricity. These prosumers are now actively engaged in exporting surplus power generation to the grid and importing electricity from the grid during periods of increased demand. Two models are taken into consideration for analysis in this paper. In a decentralized model, the capital investment is made by the prosumer; whereas in an economically centralized model, on the other hand, the capital investment is made by the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO). The centralized model has two modes of operation: in mode 1, RESCO pays rent for the provided space, and in mode 2, RESCO offers a discounted rate for each unit the customer uses from RESCO. We look at the economics of both approach strategies in India that are relevant to home prosumers who install rooftop solar and storage systems. These two methods are used to quantify the profit and payback period for each stakeholder in this paper. The maximum profit is made by 70% of prosumers in the decentralized concept. The results demonstrate that for domestic prosumers with lower demand, the decentralized approach performs well. When significant energy demands exist, the centralized model is preferable. Abstract The wide deployment of distributed energy resources, combined with a more proactive demand‐side management, is boosting the emergence of the peer‐to‐peer market. In the present study, an innovative peer‐to‐peer energy trading model is introduced, enabling a group of price‐setting prosumers to engage in direct negotiations via a straightforward best‐response approach. A Nash equilibrium problem (NEP) is initially formulated and a sufficient condition for the unique solution of the NEP is derived. Afterwards, an asynchronous and convergence‐fast solving method is employed to determine the trading quantity and price. The efficiency and resilience of the presented method are demonstrated through a comprehensive case study.

The reduction in PV prices and interest in energy independence accelerate the adoption of residential battery storage. This storage can support various functions of an energy system undergoing decarbonization. In this work, operative benefits of storage from the system perspective, namely, generation cost reduction and congestion mitigation, are investigated. Germany is chosen as a case study due to its strong reliance on variable renewable energy. For the analysis, an economic dispatch model with a high spatial resolution is coupled with a pan-European transmission grid model. It is shown that the system's generation costs are highest when the assets are used only to maximize PV self-consumption, and the costs are lowest when the storage also reacts to the market dynamics. This amounts to a 6% cost reduction. Both operation strategies result in an equal level of grid congestion and infrastructure loading. This is improved with a strategy that accounts for regional peak reduction as a secondary objective. The high congestion level emphasizes that grid expansion needs to keep pace with the generation and electrification expansion necessary to decarbonize other sectors. Lastly, policymakers should enable multipurpose utilization, e.g., via the introduction of market-oriented retail electricity prices with intervention options for grid operators. This paper explores the impact of an increasing number of prosumers in electricity supply systems and investigates how market mechanisms can mitigate the negative effects. The Regional Energy Market Model simulates a supply system based on cellular structures, employing agent-based modeling to capture individual behaviors and simulate real market dynamics. This study includes various supply scenarios, such as a solely photovoltaic scenario and a technically diversified scenario with biogas-fueled combined heat and power units. For each scenario, fixed and flexible pricing scenarios are simulated to analyze their effects. The findings reveal that systems heavily reliant on photovoltaics experience negative effects at certain points due to seasonal limitations, while technically diversified supply scenarios demonstrate fewer drawbacks. Flexible pricing systems stimulate demand in a manner beneficial to the system, creating regional added value, and contributing to the balance between generation and consumption, depending on the supply scenario. However, the study underscores that economic incentives alone are insufficient for balancing generation and consumption. Electric vehicle (EV) users who aim to become flexibility providers face a tradeoff between staying in control of charging and minimizing their electricity costs. The common practice is to charge immediately after plugging in and use more electricity than necessary. Changing this can increase the EV's flexibility potential and reduce electricity costs. Our extended electricity cost optimization model systematically examines how different changes to this practice influence electricity costs. Based on the Prospect Theory and substantiated by empirical data, it captures EV users' tradeoff between relinquishing control and reducing charging costs. Lowering the need to control charging results in disproportionally large savings in electricity costs. This finding incentivizes EV-users to relinquish even more control of charging. We analyzed changes to two charging settings that express the need for control. We found that changing only one setting offsets the other and reduces its positive effect on cost savings. Behavioral aspects, such as rebound effects and inertia that are widely documented in the literature, support this finding and underline the fit of our model extension to capture different charging behaviors. This article presents the issue of the impact of the operation of prosumer installations on the operation of the distribution network. The emergence of a very large number of distributed generation units in electric distribution networks (in particular, photovoltaic installations in low-voltage grids) can be associated with both positive and negative consequences. Positive consequences can include, among others, the environmental aspect of electricity generation. Negative consequences, on the other hand, can include technical problems of power grid operation, manifested, for example, in changes that can be observed in steady states, in the values of such parameters of grid operation as voltage level, values of branch currents, or power and energy losses. The issue discussed will be illustrated by a calculation example considering, among other things, the size and location of the prosumer installation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the large-scale development of distributed energy on the demand side, the trend of "supply exceeding demand" has gradually become prominent, and regional peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading has become an important measure to improve the local consumption of distributed energy. However, most existing studies usually assume that prosumers behave entirely rationally with the goal of maximum benefit, which has been proved to deviate from the observed actual behaviors. Aiming at the optimal energy of prosumers participating in the P2P market, a prospect theory-based two-stage stochastic optimization model considering the bounded rationality was proposed to accurately simulate the decision-making behavior. Then, a benefit maximization model for the energy trading service provider (ETSP) was constructed considering the power flow constraint to ensure the safe operation of the system. Finally, an improved R-ADMM algorithm considering timeout was proposed to solve the above model and improve the convergence speed. The rise of the student as prosumer (producer–consumer) of educational content is a novel development that has hitherto been the subject of very little research, especially in relation to the generation of digital contents and materials for online and hybrid education in particular. This article analyses whether there are patterns of behaviour and different perceptions associated with different groups of students in their role as producers and/or users in the field of active learning in hybrid university education systems. To this end, the research has been conducted with a group of engineering students at one of the largest blended learning universities in Europe. The results indicate higher levels of involvement in, and appreciation of, the experience in content producers compared with mere content consumers, but the students' environment and personal attitudes (such as their availability and degree of professional dedication) in relation to this type of education, the profile of which is often quite distinct from that of traditional learning, may differentiate their interest and appreciation of these activities, which are more creative and probably more demanding. The Energy Internet was enabled by quick energy sector developments due to greater digital technologies and increased environmental concerns. Energy demand management is crucial in this changing environment, as rigid models give way to more flexible ones. This research examines "Demand Dynamics in the Energy Internet" and suggests consumer and prosumer response plans. This concept regarding energy consumption and management is novel. Our work revolves around several essential aims. First, it examines the Energy Internet's role in the energy transition. It emphasizes energy savings, carbon reduction, and energy system reliability. We emphasize the need to transition away from centralized energy generation to one that is more flexible and involves active consumers and prosumers. This research examines how digital technology, particularly the Internet of Things, enables adaptable demand-side tactics. Real-time data analytics and smart meters help consumers and prosumers utilize energy efficiently. A transition like this is difficult. Data protection, hacking, and behaviour must be addressed. Our study demonstrates that these issues can be addressed immediately. Since one-size-fits-all is not adequate in this changing environment, we emphasize the need for customization to satisfy the individual demands of multiple parties, including conventional customers and prosumers. It also discusses energy Internet-targeted response strategies and their possibilities. Student-generated videos (SGVs) are gaining popularity and have been increasingly incorporated into undergraduate curricula in many disciplines. Through the creation of their own educational digital videos, students learn course content and transferrable skills. However, the use of SGVs in anatomy and physiology (A&P) is virtually undocumented. In this mixed-methods study, students in online and face-to-face A&P courses independently created short videos about relevant physiological phenomena. The results indicate that perceived and actual learning, as well as enjoyment, were positively impacted by the creation of the SGVs. Though it was not required, students watched their peers’ videos over 12,000 times in the online course and over 1,100 times in the face-to-face course. Setting an acceptable pricing strategy to attract prosumers to participate in demand response and orderly configure energy storage is a critical topic for virtual power plants (VPPs) in improving sustainable development. Based on this, this paper proposes a two-layer iterative optimization to develop a customized pricing-based demand response for energy storage with uncertain photovoltaic (PV) for prosumers. In the upper layer, the VPP formulates a customized price consisting of a two-part electricity price, on-grid electricity price and auxiliary service price according to the load characteristics of prosumers, so as to make the power supply and demand of prosumers more controllable. In the lower layer, prosumers adjust their energy storage configurations and energy consumption behavior according to the price signal, considering the uncertainty of PV. The research shows that the proposed optimization approach can encourages prosumers to configure energy storage, and explore user-side flexibility resources. The full utilization of energy storage has increased the PV output of the prosumers by 10%, and its benefits have also increased by 7%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current formal common denominator of the electricity supply system in Europe has been the Harmonized Electricity Market Role Model (HEMRM) set up by ENTSO-E, ebIX, and EFET at the turn of the millennium; it introduced the concept of de-coupling and the vertical structuring of the system into the previously vertically integrated system. Since then, within demonstration projects, the system has been undergoing further changes in a controlled environment, generating bottom-up energy, caused by new technologies, business models, and new players, and extending the concept of the system to the level of energy communities and prosumers. Therefore, this paper proposes a coherent approach to the extension of HEMRM to the lowest levels in both the grid and market segments—full harmonization. This entails further structuring of both segments downwards and applying the principles of vertically nested subsystems—a system of systems approach—to a unit functional level of the electricity system, which can be the prosumer itself. At the lowest levels, the de-coupled system becomes coupled; additionally, it cross-sects with other energy vectors. Complete harmonization reduces the number of system and market segments and represents system standardization, leading to both subsystem and system-wide optimization. Prerequisites for it include the automated trading of flexibilities by the prosumers and implicit trading of energy transfer capacities along the distribution grids. Rising energy demands, economic challenges, and the urgent need to address climate change have led to the emergence of a market wherein consumers can both purchase and sell electricity to the grid. This market leverages diverse energy sources and energy storage systems to achieve significant cost savings for consumers while providing critical grid support for utilities. In this study, an energy management system has been employed to tackle the optimization problem associated with various energy sources. This approach relies on mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) to optimize energy utilization while adhering to diverse constraints, yielding a feasible energy solution. This model is applied to real-world energy system consumption data and forecasts the most cost-effective day-ahead energy plans for different types of loads engaged in demand response. Furthermore, time-based charging and discharging strategies for electric vehicles and energy storage systems are considered, conducting a comprehensive analysis of energy costs across various storage devices. Our findings demonstrate that implementing this model can lead to an 18.26% reduction in operational costs when using lithium batteries and a remarkable 14.88% reduction with lead–acid batteries, particularly when integrating solar power and an EV into the system, while GHG is reduced by 36,018 grams/day for a load of 25 kW in one particular scenario. The rise of distributed energy resources (DERs) in the energy landscape underscores the pivotal role of prosumers in the ongoing energy transition. With the significant investment required for individual energy storage (IES), community energy storage (CES) emerges as a key facilitator, enabling the smooth incorporation of renewable energy sources and strengthening grid flexibility. This paper explores the dynamic interplay between CES owners, who serve as key economic actors in local energy communities, and prosumers within these communities through a Stackelberg game framework. A bi-level optimization framework aimed at empowering CES systems is introduced to address the proposed Stackelberg game framework. At the upper level of this framework, the goal is to maximize the profit of the CES system while the flexibility limits of the upstream electricity grid and other constraints are addressed. On the other hand, individual prosumers at the lower level optimize their actions to minimize billing costs and enhance comfort in alignment with their preferences. The bi-level optimization problem is reformulated into a linear single-level optimization problem using the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) approach. The results indicate that implementing flexibility constraints can effectively smooth energy exchanges with the upstream grid. However, the distribution system operator must account for the potential reduction in the CES system’s operational profit to incentivize the CES owner to participate in the flexibility enhancement program.

This paper is devoted to the prosumer energy market. Particular attention was paid to legislative changes regarding the normative definition of a prosumer. According to the author, it is the definitional scope that sets the directions for the development of the prosumer energy market, and ultimately the entire renewable energy market.

To sustain operation and maintenance of an active distribution network (ADN), a network fee should be charged by the distribution network service provider (DNSP) for facilitating the P2P energy trading service. To this end, this paper models the interaction among the DNSP and multiple prosumers as a Stackelberg game, and then develops a non-iterative and decentralized transactive mechanism to simultaneously achieve optimal network utilization pricing and peer-to-peer (P2P) trading. Simulation results in an ADN with four prosumers connected to a common substation bus validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed scheme.

Government regulations and incentives supporting zero-carbon electricity production have significantly increased prosumers. This article conducts a techno-economic analysis, investigating the impact of significant factors such as fluctuating load needs, solar panel sizes, battery capacities, operating expenditures, and payback duration. A decentralized prosumer consortium comprised of home prosumers with roof-top solar generation is selected for the study. Utilizing the maximum renewable energy generated is a challenge in the prosumer consortium as the energy generation is not consistent throughout. The proposed model outlines a transformative approach to residential energy systems, introducing a prosumer consortium with a peer-to-peer energy trading network. Prosumers, equipped with solar panels and storage solutions, engage in active energy trading with consumers. This detailed economic analysis considers diverse prosumer and consumer profiles and accommodates dynamic load shifts based on prosumer load and generation patterns. The study explores three operating scenarios: a blended consortium of prosumers and consumers, prioritizing renewable energy usage during peak production, and inter-consortium energy pools for efficient resource utilization. Through a comprehensive evaluation of these scenarios, the system aims to identify economically optimal models for each case, ultimately determining the most profitable prosumer consortium model for participating entities. Compared to the traditional decentralized model, in the three scenarios, the utilization of surplus solar energy generated happened. The study shows that adopting decentralized prosumer consortium energy transactions, followed by a 25% to 30% load shifting, a load leveling-based demand response initiative, results in a 35% higher average profit in the system under consideration. When the system contains a suitable balance of consumers and prosumers, with consumers making up 70% to 80% of the overall consortium load, it reduces the average payback time by 40%.

Massive access of renewable energy has prompted demand-side distributed resources to participate in regulation and improve flexibility of power systems. With large-scale access of massive, decentralized, and diverse distributed resources, demand-side market members have transformed from traditional “consumers” to “prosumers”. To explore the distributed transaction model of prosumers, in this paper, a multi-prosumer distributed transaction model is proposed, and the Conditional Value-at-Risk (CVaR) theory is applied to quantify potential risks caused by the stochastic characteristics inherited from renewable energy. First, a prosumer model under constraints of the distribution network including photovoltaic units, fuel cells, energy storage system, central air conditioning and flexible loads is established, and a multi-prosumer distributed transaction strategy is proposed to achieve power sharing among multiple prosumers. Second, a prosumer transaction model based on CVaR is constructed to measure risks inherited from the uncertainty of PV output within the prosumer and ensure safety of system operation in extreme PV output scenarios. Then, the alternating direction multiplier method (ADMM) is utilized to solve the constructed model efficiently. Finally, distributed transaction costs of prosumers are distributed fairly based on the generalized Nash equilibrium to maximize social benefits. Simulation results show the multi-prosumer distributed transaction mechanism established under the proposed generalized Nash equilibrium method can encourage power sharing among prosumers, increasing their own income and social benefits. Also, the CVaR can assist decision making of prosumers in weighting the risks and benefits, improving system resilience through energy management of prosumers.

As decarbonization policies emerge around the world, research on cost-effective renewable energy is increasingly emphasized, but the uncertainty inherent in renewable energy disrupts the operation of power systems. Considering these issues, this paper presents a peer-to-peer (P2P) transaction platform that minimizes the cost of each transaction participant while considering photovoltaic (PV) generation uncertainty using stochastic programming. First, in the proposed algorithm, P2P energy transactions are conducted between prosumers who own PV and consumers. Then, prosumers purchase uncertainty demand response (UDR) capacity from consumers to counter the uncertainty of their PV. The performance of the proposed platform is verified through a case study using MATLAB 2021b Academic, Optimization Tool toolbox, and Matpower toolbox to demonstrate the economic feasibility by comparing the operating costs of participants and the power flow of Point of common coupling (PCC) with and without UDR transaction. The case studies show that the prosumers reduce the cost damage caused by the PV generation forecast error through the day-ahead UDR transaction, and the consumers reduce operating cost by bidding additional capacity in the UDR transaction that was not matched in the P2P transaction. In addition, the result of the power flow analysis indicates that the subject grid operates closer to day-ahead scheduling when the UDR transactions and implementations are performed.

The rapid advancement of technologies related to economically viable energy resources, energy storage methods, and innovative loads such as electric vehicles, combined with significant progress in communication and computation technologies, has given rise to the smart grid paradigm. This paradigm presents an opportunity to establish a Transactive Energy System (TES), a sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective business model offering end users a diverse range of affordable energy services. However, sustained stability of the TES heavily depends on the active participation, consistency, and incentive compatibility of credible end users with reduced penalty, unlike in the wholesale market. The primary challenge lies in designing an economically efficient transactive energy market clearing mechanism that considers uncertainties in end users’ energy behavior and incentivizes their credible engagement with reducing penalties. To address these overlooked challenges, this work proposes innovative approaches involving market power mitigation, credit rating-based incentives, incentive compatibility, and penalty-based methods rooted in cooperative principles. The strategy aims to minimize penalties for end users while encouraging credible engagement by offering significant savings on their electricity bills. To validate the effectiveness of this methodology, several case studies were conducted involving multiple household end users within a locality. The outcomes are highly promising, showing monthly savings of 20.67%, 19.85%, 27.81%, and 73.46% on electricity bills for participating households in contrast to the current TES. The tangible results highlight the significant impact attainable by employing the suggested market clearing approach and showcase enhanced savings for end users.

The emergence of prosumers, who actively participate in designing and producing goods, has generated a growing interest in homemade products. Factors such as design methods, component reuse, or digital fabrication empower prosumer designers to realize their ideas. Although there are cases of bioinspired products manufactured by prosumers, the interactions between bioinspired design methods in the prosumer field have not been addressed from an academic point of view. This article presents a case that combines bioinspired design methods with prosumer characteristics from the perspective of a designer who uses biological research results whilst acting as a prosumer. The proposal is to see whether working on a small scale, without the need for biomimetics experts, and independently, as a prosumer, is feasible and valuable. As a result, a bicycle flashlight is designed with a microgenerator bioinspired by the geometry of samara seeds, and is tested in a wind tunnel. This case shows that the integration of a bioinspired design in prosumer contexts poses unique challenges and requires a multidisciplinary approach. Furthermore, the application of a bioinspired approach in this case has not only provided a certain level of novelty to the final product, but has also improved its efficiency and reduced its financial expenditure.
