Southern African societies are presently beleaguered by manifold socio-economic, political, and environmental challenges. Ordinary people long for answers to questions about how to mitigate these challenges. Meanwhile, the Church mostly preaches the gospel and establishes and grows denominations across the world. Proclaiming the gospel in word is good; however, without demonstrating the gospel with transformational deeds, the Church remains Salvationist and partially missionary. Bearing in mind that the integral mission of the Church is advancing the gospel holistically, fractional mindfulness of the gospel, hearing the words without performing the corresponding deeds, is defacing its identity. Today, this situation is problematic and helpless, as society is in dire need of a wholesome Church that acts in accordance with its own faith and values and attends to the soul, the body, and all other facets of life. Much has been published about the integral mission of the Church, though little has been said about its role in social action. By qualitatively reviewing the literature and observing the Southern African context and some biblical examples, this paper finds the integral mission to be the predominant and comprehensive purpose of the existence of the Church. While the Church could be aware of its mandate, it should be reawakened so that it becomes a doer of the Word and stands out as the salt and light of the world by contributing to addressing the needs of society. The current study deals with the topic of the effectiveness of narrated, visual, and printed media as documents and data conveying the culture and knowledge of people, as well as a discursive structure with sensory authority that affected the nature of the artistic experience through the dynamic interaction between the artist’s creative intentions and his experience, in addition to the intellectual and historical influences resulting from the power of the medium as an effective tool in directing the artist’s vision The research was divided into four chapters, first chapter devoted to the research problem, which ended with the following question: What are the areas of media structure and how do they dominated on the visual surface appearances? The second chapter, it included two sections, the first section entitled Mediality of language/versus the oral and the copied, while the second section was entitled Mediality of the Image/versus the audio-visual. The third chapter contained the research procedures represented by the method, community, research tool, and analysis of the research sample which included three models. The fourth chapter included the results and conclusions. The following are some of the results: 1-The effectiveness of the medium emerged as a symbolic and ideological material that enhances the concept of cultural identity through artists adopting it. 2-The media appeared as a reference that carries data from which the artist draws his cultural and historical topics, as well as daily events.

Currently, it is the duty of the people of our country to apply the values of Pancasila in social life. Because, the values of Pancasila are the foundation of the Indonesian nation and are the life guidelines of Indonesian society. Currently, knowledge, understanding and practice of Pancasila values for the Indonesian generation of young men and women are increasingly being eroded by the influx of new values that are at odds with the nation's own identity. This means that a person will face many problems, both from within and outside the scope, now and in the future. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to renew Pancasila values so that they can become a reference in dealing with various problems faced by Indonesian society now and in the future. To achieve the ideals of the Proclamation, the basic values of Pancasila must be known, understood and practiced in the daily life of society in Indonesia. This article asserts that the particularly personal nature of Lutheran preaching compels preachers to be personally present with the words they proclaim and the people in front of them as they give them the gift of the gospel. Lutheran preaching prioritizes and drives toward the explicit proclamation of Christ crucified that declares Christ's promises to be true "for you." This is personal. The gospel is proclaimed not in general for all, but for each. The preacher gives the gospel to the people in front of them, just as the bread and cup are given to the people in Holy Communion. Such an intimate task invites an intimate presence. After unpacking the term "personally present," this essay outlines three interrelated elements of Lutheran preaching that reveal the importance of the presence of the preacher, and a few words are offered to suggest ways in which these learnings may be of interest to those of other traditions. Finally, four exercises are provided to help homileticians foster this presence in their students and to assist preachers in fostering this presence during their preaching preparation. The present study is an attempt to explore the depiction of racism in the era of emancipation by reviewing two representative texts: Of Our Spiritual Strivings by W. E. B. Du Bois, and The Jim Crow Laws and Racism in United States written by David Fremon, and telefilm The Birth of a Nation directed by D. W. Griffith. After the official abolition of slavery by 13th Amendment of the Constitution, the problem of racism not only emerged but reached to its peak in that epoch in United States. It adversely affected both the black and white races for a period of almost one hundred years. Racism divided social milieu in US based on skin color. Dogmatically the darker in color would mean the cursed. The hatred against Blacks was institutionalized. Racially biased laws called Jim Crow Laws were enacted by many southern states. Private gangs such as Ku Klux Klan were formed who would find excuses for lynching and killing the blacks. The blacks were marginalized up to a limit which shook their souls and called ‘double consciousness’ by W.E.B. Du Bois. The essay tries to reconnoiter the traces of miseries of blacks from slavery towards racism through interdisciplinary critique of selected writings and a film. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article reflects on the Easter proclamation, considering the problem of reception in the current context and highlighting, above all, the aspect of the resurrection of the bodies in relation to faith in the resurrection of Christ. This point, in fact, is particularly neglected in the awareness of faith of our contemporaries, perhaps because of the difficulty in finding an adequate language. Following the reading of chapter 15 of the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, which focuses not only on the fact of the resurrection of the dead, but also on the way in which it takes place, this paper seeks the elements to be valued for a proclamation that can be communicated in a language understandable and received still today. In democratic societies, it is taken for granted to withdraw religiosity from public life. In this paper, we point to Talal Asad’s critique of this taken-for-grantedness. Using his genealogical method, he attempts to find the origin of this relegation of religiosity to the private sphere. The concept of secularity, he argues, is primarily an expression of the power of those who insist on enlightened reason. At the same time, secularism becomes, in a sense, a new religion, the only one acceptable in a democratic society. While we point out the causes of the secularization process, we also point out the aspects that are problematic in such a conception of religion. The Church’s response must take into account the process of secularization, but it must not fall into the same logic that led to this process in the first place. We point out the danger that the separation between the sacred and the profane, the physical and the spiritual, is increasing even in the new religious movements. We therefore propose a form of proclamation that involves the whole person and addresses him or her in everyday life.

Religious and educational authority has lost its place, especially in the process of digitalization. The digital environment offers freedom of choice and seemingly democratic use. However, we will show how new forms of authority are also emerging in this environment, which are largely hidden and therefore much more dangerous. The positioning of so-called algorithmic authority leads us to look for appropriate responses for the field of education and proclamation, as it turns out that this is a very similar way of dealing with authority. The approach offered by P. Freire, through the development of a critical consciousness in a concrete environment and the positioning of the teacher as a prophet, combines solutions for the empowerment of modern man in both the religious and educational fields.

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the contribution of Fetha Negest to the development of Ethiopia's legal system and to evaluate the present judges' appointment law of Ethiopia in line with indigenous sources. It focuses particularly on Fetha Negest, which had a significant impact on Ethiopia's judicial system until the early 1940s. To this effect, the research for this paper discovered chapter 43 of the Fetha Negest and the federal judicial administration proclamation No. 1233/2021 through critical review. The paper thus finds that the current laws do not confirm Fetha Negest as their source and instead opt to transplant legal ideas from other countries. Due to this, the laws have been repeatedly amended and lack acceptance. Moreover, these transplanted laws face the issue of compatibility with the local culture. While the number of churchgoers has constantly been going down in the last years, an interesting observation can be made: The number of people attending choral evensong has significantly increased in the last decades. Not only believers, but non-believers as well are overwhelmed by this form of liturgy based on the singing of the choir. This article describes the project of Salzburg's Evensong, an adaption of the Anglican choral evensong for the German-speaking context of catholic or protestant parishes. Based on the theological awareness that faith comes from hearing, the project focuses on the insight that singing is a way of proclamation as well. Thus, Salzburg's Evensong offers an attractive liturgical format that has an ecumenical dimension and pays attention to the aesthetic aspect of faith. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research and development aims to: 1) investigate the social studies learning media of motion comic on multicultural values in the materials of independence proclamation. This research and development utilized the Borg Gall model. The stages of development were: 1) gathering information; 2) planning; 3) developing product; 4) validating. The results of this study indicate that all aspects of the assessment obtain good results. According to learning media material experts, Motion Comic gets a percentage of 98% and is in the very good category, which is very feasible to use. The multicultural values contained in the motion comics include tolerance, respect and appreciation, learning to live in differences, conflict resolution, mutual trust and maintaining mutual understanding and respect.

Advocacy should be thought of as a permanent part of recognition efforts during Neurodiagnostic Week (April 16–22, 2023) for Neurodiagnostic professionals. It is the perfect opportunity to engage in advocacy and educate others on the importance of using well qualified Neurodiagnostic Technologists to perform neurodiagnostic procedures. Why is advocacy important? Because there is strength in numbers and constituent voices matter. If Neurodiagnostic Technologists do not advocate for the profession and educate decision makers, legislators, and the public about the importance of professional competency in Neurodiagnostics, no one else will. Advocacy works and is a critical part of moving the profession forward to ensure that lawmakers and policy understand that those performing the procedures should be the best qualified professionals to do so. Theology has a reputation for being a highly abstract, overly intellectual, and largely irrelevant disciple that distracts Christians from the actual living out of their faith, perhaps epitomised in Karl Barth's 8000-page magnum opus, the Church Dogmatics. However, Barth himself envisioned his theology as something that served the church, in particular, the task of preaching. This article explores Barth's vision of how theology serves proclamation before considering how Barth himself called on the assistance of his own doctrine of sanctification to preach an Easter sermon in Basel Prison. Swearing-In and Proclamation of Isabel II, in 1833, different cities organize theatrical performances. In them the female characters and the female actors who represent them are very important because they evoke, directly or indirectly, the circumstances and the ideal virtues of the young Queen. In this paper we analyse some of these theatrical performances, the female protagonism of them and their purpose: to justify the legitimacy of the young Isabel.

The article analyses the royal proclamation of Ferdinand VI in Cusco (Peru) which took place on 23 September 1747, on the birthday of the king. A reconstruction of the celebration was possible thanks to two sources: the city chronicle written in the mid-eighteenth century by Diego de Esquivel y Navía and an occasional print containing a description of the ceremony by José Antonio Santander (1748). The article discusses three aspects of the presented celebrations. First of all, it presents the general context, i.e. the problem of festival celebrations related to the royal family as a part of the Spanish crown policy. Secondly, it details artistic issues related to the celebrations. It includes a description of the artistic setting with the features of occasional architecture and ephemeral painting. Finally, the article examines the local, social and political contexts of the celebrations, read as a manifestation of the city’s emancipation efforts based on the emphasis of Cusco’s antiquity and its rich imperial tradition in the Pre-Hispanic period.

During the period of social transformation in modern China, the sudden onslaught of malignant infectious diseases, the helplessness of the public, and the impact of the modern Western medical system promoted the profound self-revolution of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Multiple factors, including politics, economy or religion contributed to the formulation of paper-based “TCM proclamation”. This paper, based on the prevention and control of cholera advocated in TCM proclamation, analyzes the new ways of cholera spread in China in early modern times and the complicated “country-region-medical institutions-other institutions-individuals” correlations.

The results of a discursive analysis of political texts of the period 1903-1906 are presented. Particular attention is paid to the methodology for the study of political discourse in a historical perspective. The question is raised about the various spheres of the generation of political texts and their existence, participants in political communication, their socio-political affiliations. A discursive analysis of texts is carried out on the basis of a number of signs: authorship, targeted political text, communication strategies and tactics. It shows the actualization in the texts of opposing political parties of agonism as a specific property of political communication, the peculiarity of the implementation of agonism in the strategies and tactics of the authors: the monarchist and representatives of radical left parties. The classification of tactics that implement the strategy of discredit and the strategy of the struggle for power is given. The tactics of solidarity, appeal to values and opposition are indicated as dominating in the speeches of Bishop Gabriel. In the proclamations tactics of accusation, negative assessment and a call for a struggle for power are indicated. The character of the dependence of language means (including those from the arsenal of other types of discourse) on the nature of communicative tactics is determined. Textual combinations of communicative tactics are considered. Historical political texts are investigated in the communicative-discursive aspect.

Compared to the two previous Catechetical Directories, the new Directory for Catechesis includes the criterion of the primacy of grace and beauty among the criteria for the proclamation of the Christian message in catechesis. Such a novelty cannot but raise questions such as: What does the new Directory want to emphasize regarding this criterion? This paper collects the speeches made at the traditional event of the «Thursday after Ash Wednesday», to which the academic community invites the presbyters and deacons of the Region, in order to prepare the Easter proclamation together. In the 2021 edition, the event took inspiration from a statement contained in the Christus vivit: «Once the Church […] listens carefully to the young, this empathy enriches her, for it allows young people to make their own contribution to the community, helping it to appreciate new sensitivities and to consider new questions» (n. 65). Young people were, therefore, attentively listened: which aspects of the Paschal Mistery of Christ are significant for them in their lives? What does the Church have to take into account, in the eyes of the young, in order to pass on the faith in the Risen Crucified Christ to their peers? [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From the title of the paper it follows that this is not a classical biblical theme, as it extends to the field of spirituality, liturgy, pastoral care, and so on. Given that there are works in the Croatian language (M. Vidović and A. Popović) that treat the status and role of Scripture in the Church in a comprehensive and systematic way, this article does not strive for a comprehensive approach but seeks to go as deep as possible: from the presentation of the nature of the Word of God embedded in the biblical text and the appropriate attitude of the Church towards it, to the key preconditions for activating its saving power (cf. Rom 1:16). The first part of the paper deals with the Church’s relationship to the Bible. It is first of all presented as the Word of God by which the Creator reveals himself to man in order to open the way to communion. The paper then analyzes the Church’s response to God’s saving initiative achieved through his word. The second part is devoted to the transformative character of the Word of God. The attitude towards God reflects the attitude of the church community to the Holy Scriptures. The consequences of this appreciation of the correct attitude towards the Word of God are then set out. The third part of the paper presents a New Testament example of following the transformative nature of Scripture: the attitude of St. Paul towards slavery, reactions to it and their consequences throughout the history of the Church. The demanding nature of the Word of God and the grace derived from following it comes to the fore here, while hesitation and neglect of the call of Scripture leads to ambiguity and a weakening of the historically redemptive role of church life and action. In the last part of the paper, two practical elements in the use of the Holy Scriptures that are of primary importance are highlighted: the liturgy and the homily. The intertextuality of biblical texts in the liturgy, their actualization and their proclamation require careful atention and careful examination by the preacher. This article argues that, unlike some exegetes (e.g. Francis Moloney), Thomas Torrance correctly interpreted Mark 16:19–20 in support of a theology of the ascended Christ's continuing prophetic activity. In the ministry of the Word, Christ remains present and at work witnessing to himself. This prophetic office, associated with and not to be separated from his kingly and priestly functions, is not to be played down. This paper aims to set a foreground that will further reveal the theological and hermeneutical standpoint of Ernst Fuchs and Gerhard Ebeling. The author argues that some of their basic ideas and concepts, such as human being (Dasein), questionableness (Fraglichkeit), thrownness (Geworfenheit) or language-event (Sprachereignis), owed their origin to Martin Heidegger, but none of them could be considered a mere faded copy of their Heideggerian counterparts. New Hermeneutics were engaged in a theological verification and transposition (rather than accommodation) of Heidegger pursuing his aim of overcoming metaphysics. As a theory of language of faith and verified fundamental ontology, Lutheran hermeneutics deliberately avoided the question of "What does the biblical text actually mean?" or even "What does the text mean to me?" Instead, it took great pains to persist in asking "Why should the biblical text mean anything?" To grasp the supreme importance of this question, the author makes two preliminary observations: on the boredom with language and on radical questionableness or passivity of Dasein. In the section of the article concerning the boredom with language, the author discusses the reasons that prevent man from encountering the Word of God which does not stand for something thus transcending itself, but rather exercises its questioning and transformative power. For it is the Word of God which reveals itself as a biblical skandalon or the obstacle and threshold for Dasein. Instead of reassuring man in his self-understanding, such Word constantly calls human independence and agency into question. For that reason, replacing one language with another is no longer the major challenge. Instead, it is a kerygmatic interpretation of language aimed at restoring man's intimacy with language as his genuine place of being. It is only a short step from here to disclosing the radical questionableness, that is a state of man becoming a question to himself. As an experience that calls the autonomy of human self into question, radical questionableness involves a divine question to which manmade reality never provides an answer that could be considered definitive, although all the provided answers remain binding. Consequently, such experience reveals a historical and passive path of human being before the divine Word, a path which violates metaphysical constitution of subjectivity and therefore transforms the purpose of proclamation and the meaning of kerygma. As a call and challenge to man, or an answer given by the wholly other God to the question concerning man, kerygma makes Dasein finally capable of entering a relationship with the Word which does not violate divine sovereignty. For it is kerygma that brings the ecstatic nature of man to the fore. Kerygma establishes a speaking-hearing interplay of God and man and makes hearing the basic form of man's being before God. Such relationship consists therefore in nothing but a responsible acceptance of a gift, that is hearing the divine Word. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a practical guidance for catechists, preachers and pastoral workers and for their possible contact with Muslims in the Czech republic. This article presents a strong and joyful faith in the Christ in one hand and a desire of understanding between religions as a needed preconditions for the Interreligious Dialogue. The preacher has to be acquainted with the deep knowledge of Islam, its culture and the local muslim community. Also his rhetorical skills and a strong personality are strongly required. Further it shows the inspiration of proclamation of Christ which is based on similarities of the Bible and the Koran, and of the articles of faith and of the piety. At the end it is highly important to mention the knowledge of the classical Arabic literature and to search for elements of truth in it.

From seven billion people on our planet, only two billion are Christians and, from these, a majority are unpracticing Christians. As Pope John Paul II was writing in 1990, “The mission of Christ the Redeemer, which is entrusted to the Church, is still very far from completion” (Redemptoris Missio, 1). Considering all this reality, in the last century we have witnessed a revival of the kerygma in the field of theological research, both theoretical and practical. In the coming articles, we wish to present, in chronological order, the steps through which kerygma became the guiding figure of the renewal of the evangelization in the twentieth century. The global pandemic of COVID-19 across the year 2020 afforded pastors everywhere an opportunity to engage in some critical reflection on their homiletic practices. The dual challenges of no longer being able to preach to a physically present congregation and of preaching during a time of significant fear, stress, and sorrow revealed to many preachers aspects of preaching of which they had not previously been aware. This article suggests that some of what was discovered during this unusual season provides correctives for the way in which homiletics and preaching have been practised in many places and that some of these correctives should endure in the preaching life of the church long after the pandemic has passed. This paper demonstrates Luke’s purpose of showing God’s revolutionary dealings against societal prejudice against the debased and the marginalised members of the society of the time. The Lukan narrative portrays God’s rejection of the complacent elite by embracing the poor and the repentant respondents to the clarion call of the Messiah. There is no doubt that the Luke-Acts narrative surfaces and elevates the role of women in a very distinctive approach. The diverse reflections show that women can set the tone for African church, especially the role that can be actively played by women in social justice. There are distinctive characteristics that can be noted for social justice advancement in the African church. These are koinos synergy, revelatory pronouncements, and salvific testimonies. The conclusion is made by highlighting the character of Dorcas in Acts narrative as the object lesson for African Church in relation to social justice. This social justice is derived from the understanding of service evangelism.

Despite the overall opinion that John V Palaiologos was not a co-ruler while his father, Andronikos III, was alive, this article tends to show that the successor of Andronikos the Younger was bestowed the title of βασιλεύς shortly after his birth. This would, in fact, be a rather logical act of Andronikos III, who, due to his fragile health, sought to secure the throne for his minor offspring. In addition, it seems that it was a practice of the Palaiologan emperors to proclaim their eldest sons as co-rulers, at a very early age, because of a strong need to ensure the legitimacy to the new ruling family, as well as to prevent the passing of the throne into the hands of the members of the side branch of the family. Pope Francis calls us to an unpostponable renewal of faith and a return to the Gospel in order to rise above our own narrowness and to become human beings in the full sense of that term. This article reflects on reasons for this serious demand of the Pope. After the introduction, the first part will mention some aspects of the crisis of the contemporary human being, while pointing out what the author sees as problematic in the Church and in our relations. The second part will discuss the crisis of consciousness in the Church, but also the crisis of consciousness of the Church about itself, while pointing out what was in the proclamation of key importance for forming the first Christian communities. The third part will reflect on some aspects of the crisis in our relations, pointed out in the introduction, and present a few suggestions that might serve as a possible sketch of community-building, social, and moral effects of kerygma (proclamation). The presence of the contemporary human being in virtual space of digital media and social networks necessarily also implies active inclusion of the Church in the»digital world«as an area of new proclamation. Starting from that fact, in this article the authors analyse some postulates of so-called digital anthropology, discuss characteristics of the proclamation of faith, and compare them with characteristics of the digital environment, while reflecting on possibilities of communication in the virtual environment. Given the fact that dynamics of proclamation in the»digital world«has characteristics of missionary activity of the Church, the question of inculturation is raised - possibility of forming a new culture - as well as ways in which it might be possible to transmit existing contents on the digital platform. Since - as Pope Francis writes - the revolution that is taking place in information-communication technologies»represents a great and exciting challenge that demands fresh energies and new imagination in transmitting the beauty of God to others«, the article also points out the importance of media literacy as a key skill for finding one's way in the digital environment. The article analyses the royal proclamation of Ferdinand VI in Cusco (Peru) which took place on 23 September 1747, on the birthday of the king. A reconstruction of the celebration was possible thanks to two sources: the city chronicle written in the mid-eighteenth century by Diego de Esquivel y Navía and an occasional print containing a description of the ceremony by José Antonio Santander (1748). The article discusses three aspects of the presented celebrations. First of all, it presents the general context, i.e. the problem of festival celebrations related to the royal family as a part of the Spanish crown policy. Secondly, it details artistic issues related to the celebrations. It includes a description of the artistic setting with the features of occasional architecture and ephemeral painting. Finally, the article examines the local, social and political contexts of the celebrations, read as a manifestation of the city's emancipation efforts based on the emphasis of Cusco's antiquity and its rich imperial tradition in the Pre-Hispanic period. This article examines presidential immigration policy making through executive orders (EOs) and proclamations. Donald Trump's overall volume of EOs has been remarkably similar to that of other presidents, while his number of proclamations has been relatively high.His immigration-related EOs and proclamations, however, diverge fromthose of his predecessors in several ways. Of the 56 immigration-related EOs and 64 proclamations issued since 1945, Trump has issued 10 and nine, respectively.Overall, about 1 percent of all EOs and proclamations during this period have been immigration related, compared to 8 percent of Trump's EOs and 2.4 percent of Trump's proclamations. In a sharp departure from previous presidents, a greater share of his EOs and proclamations have been substantive policy-making documents intended to restrict admissions of legal immigrants and increase enforcement along the border and in the interior of the United States. This article explores Trump's unorthodox use of executive tools to make immigration policy, circumventing Congress and even members of his own administration. It recommends that: • Congress should hold oversight hearings and should consider revoking or modifying EOs and proclamations that have been issued pursuant to the authority provided to the president by Congress, as opposed to those based on the executive's constitutional authority. • Advocacy organizations should continue to challenge the president's executive actions, the insufficient process and consultation leading to them, their statutory or constitutional justification, and their impact. • Congress should take an inventory of the immigration authorities it has delegated, both explicitly and implicitly, to the executive branch and determine when this authority can and should be limited. • Congress should pass legislation to update and reform the US immigration system, and thus clarify its intentions regarding US immigration law, policy, and executive authority in this area. The article seeks to shed light on a lacuna in the law and international adjudication regarding the entitlement of coastal states to the exclusive economic zone (EEZ), by analysing the implicit requirement in the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea of proclamation to establish such entitlement. The main argument of the article is that despite the requirement for proclamation, there is no definition of this act in international law that clarifies its legal status. Nonetheless, failure to heed the requirement to proclaim an EEZ can affect the establishment of the EEZ, which in turn affects the rights and jurisdictions of coastal states in the zone. It can also affect the competence of judicial institutions to decide on matters such as delimitation of overlapping zones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
