This article studies the trajectory of the editor Jorge Herralde and the project and editorial policies of the Anagrama publishing house, which he founded in 1969. The narrative is structured by two central moments in its history: the crisis of the company during the period of the Spanish transition, and the fight for the defense of independent publishing in the 1990s and 2000s. The article also analyses the editorial policies of the Barcelona-based house at these two junctures and the historical role they played in the consolidation of a certain idea of independent publishing that continues to this day.
