In the face of global climate change, there has been an increasing focus on sustainable agriculture. The interaction between modern agricultural research and materials science presents opportunities to manipulate plants at the atomic level. With the rapid advancement of nanotechnology in agriculture, researchers have recognized the potential of nanomaterials to regulate plant physiological and biochemical processes, facilitate efficient chemical delivery, and monitor growth status in real-time. However, only a limited range of material properties has been explored among the diverse array of nanomaterials available. In this review, we examine the applications of nanomaterials in plants through the lenses of catalytic properties, morphology, photoluminescence, and remote controllability. We aim to offer new insights into the interactions between nanomaterials and plants while providing strategies for promoting sustainable agriculture.

CONSTRUCTED wetlands , *RED soils , *WETLAND soils , *METAL foils , *ADVECTION - Abstract
Introduction: Water pollution is one of the main environmental problems affecting Cuba. The galvanic and leather tanning industries in the same country generate wastewater contaminated with chromium which can be treated using constructed wetlands. Objective: To evaluate chromium removal behavior in experimental subsurface wetlands. Materials and Methods: Two experimental systems consisting of horizontal subsurface flow wetlands were constructed: one planted with Cyperus Alternifolius and the other with two varieties of Heliconia (Rostrata and Wagneriana), using red ferrallitic soil as substrate. The Atomic Absorption Spectrometry method was used for the determination of total chromium and Excel of the Office package in its version 16.0.17726 was the software adopted for statistical processing. Results and Discussion: The Cyperus Alternifolius was the species that showed the best assimilation, managing to transport the metal to the leaves. The kinetics of chromium removal in the wetland and in the soil used as substrate were evaluated, demonstrating the importance of plants and associated microorganisms in the retention of the metal, with higher retention in the wetland. Chromium removal efficiencies of over 98% were obtained. Conclusions: Using the Cyperus Alternifolius plant together with the red ferrallitic soil, and performing the corresponding scaling with the kinetic constants obtained, it is possible to construct a treatment system that efficiently removes chromium from wastewater associated with the galvanic industry and tanneries. AVULSION fractures , *HEEL bone fractures , *FREE flaps , *SOFT tissue injuries , *SUBTALAR joint , *ANCHORAGE - Abstract
Background: Degloving of the sole of the foot is a rare and serious injury because the heel pad cannot be replaced by similar tissue. The management is challenging and only a few cases have been reported with different treatment regimens. Methods: Here, we report on a 46-year-old female patient with complex foot trauma consisting of complete avulsion of the heel pad at the hindfoot and a soft tissue defect at the posterior aspect of the heel accompanied by rupture of the anterior tibial tendon and fractures of the talus, calcaneus and midfoot. The sole of the foot was fixed to the calcaneus with multiple temporary Kirschner wires and moist wound dressings. The anterior tibial tendon was sutured. The soft tissue defect at the posterior heel was treated with a free anterolateral thigh flap. The fractures were fixed in staged procedures. Results: At 2-year follow-up, the patient had a durable soft tissue cover over the heel with full sensation over the sole and a pliable flap over the posterior aspect of the heel. The patient was able to fully bear weight and was pain free during her daily activities in comfortable, custom shoes. All fractures had healed, the talar neck fracture after one revision and bone grafting. The foot was plantigrade and stable with preserved painless but limited range of motion at the ankle, subtalar and mid-tarsal joints. Conclusion: The unique tissue at the sole of the foot can be salvaged even in cases of full degloving at the hindfoot with the simple method of anchorage with multiple temporary K-wires. Traumatic defects of the vulnerable skin at the posterior aspect of the heel requires durable coverage with free flap coverage. With staged treatment of all bone and soft tissue injuries, a favorable result can be obtained even in case of a complex foot trauma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
La implementació d’aquesta proposta, a més de millorar l'eficiència de la producció, reforçarà la imatge de marca i contribuirà a l'èxit a llarg termini de l'organització., In this final year project, the study of the improvement of the layout of the production plant of a factory of nautical components, more specifically, of aluminium enclosures, has been carried out. A new design is proposed for the distribution of the plant, in order to improve the efficiency of the production, the process, and the safety of the workers. Based on an analysis of all areas and machines in the factory, and the flows that follow the parts to be manufactured during the manufacturing process, it has been possible to make great improvements, which allow the company to have a better organized factory. These improvements help to eliminate unnecessary movements of operators and the finished product, and lead to time savings that translate into economic savings in the short or medium term and that return the investment calculated to make this movement of machines and areas in a certain time. The improvement proposal not only represents economic progress, but also a fundamental strategy for the future success and sustainability of the company. The implementation of this proposal, in addition to improving production efficiency, will strengthen the brand image and contribute to the long-term success of the organization.

The article concentrates on a small excerpt from the biography of Jan Parandowski, covering a two-year stay of the writer on the estate of the Morawscy family in Kielce Voivodeship. The article presents, using this singular example, the life of a Polish manor house during the German occupation. The mansion was crowded with refugees and displaced people, forced to deal with the wartime reality. The image of this community is dominated by the owners of the estate, a family whose tradition and ethos obligates them to take on difficult and dangerous challenges. In the face of the still-circulating incomplete, or false, information relating to the place of stay of the writer following his departure from Warsaw, the main aim of this text is to systematise the knowledge and to remove doubt surrounding this topic.

- Abstract
The appropriate conditions to form complexes with Tarwi debittering alkaloids and heavy metals present in wastewater are determined. For this purpose, standard solutions of heavy metals and Tarwi debittering waters with different alkaloid concentrations were used, in addition to volumetric, potentiometric and spectrophotometric techniques for data collection and construct multifactorial experimental designs, for Cadmium, Lead and Chromium. used in the present study. The results obtained indicate that at a concentration of 4.59 mg/ml of alkaloid and at pH 4 Cadmium precipitates; at a concentration of 1.24 mg/ml of alkaloid and at a pH between 3 and 4.5 Lead precipitates; and at a concentration of 4.59 mg/ml of alkaloid and at pH 8 Chromium precipitates, reducing the levels of Chromium, Cadmium and Lead by 76, 85 and 91% respectively. The conditions obtained are applied to a sample of petroleum formation water, reducing Lead by 17%, demonstrating that the alkaloids precipitate heavy metals, in addition to the fact that there are interferences that hinder the treatment of metals in the formation water sample., Se determinan las condiciones apropiadas para formar complejos con los alcaloides del desamargado de Tarwi y metales pesados presentes en aguas residuales.

- Abstract
Western blot of a protein extract from N. benthamiana leaves expressing PepCPWT. Protein extract aliquots were oxidized with CuCl2 (lanes 1 and 2), reduced with dithiothreitol (lanes 3 and 4), or not pre-treated with any of them (lanes 5–6). Protein extracts loaded in lanes 2, 4 and 6 were incubated with methyl-polyethylene glycol-maleimide (MM(PEG)24) as described by Pant et al. (2021). Reduced cysteines are alkylated with MM(PEG)24 and one conjugation increases the protein mass by 1.24 kDa. A double band was observed in lanes 2 and 4, indicating partial CP oxidation, reduction or alkylation in the controls. The membrane was stripped and re-probed with an anti-Actin antibody as the loading control
