Introduction: Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are an established client group of occupational therapists. Our profession embraced the implementation of the bio-social-medical view of the ICF and shifted the focus from function to participation and environment. However, the paradigm shift to understand participation patterns of adolescents with ASD through an environment-focused perception and construct interventions based on this is yet to come. Objectives: The goal of this presentation is to elaborate novel ways for occupational therapy practice by focusing on environmental aspects during interventions with adolescents with ASD. Method: We conducted a series of studies with multiple methods (scoping review, case study, qualitative study, and cross-sectional study) and looked at how the environment can be changed to present a more inviting world to adolescents with ASD. Results: Security and connection represent meaningful, subjectively relevant, and feasible aspects of how the environment shapes participation. Adolescents with ASD express different needs before attending participation domains than while engaging in these. Getting together with other adolescents remains one of the biggest desires. Environmental barriers as consistent throughout all settings. Application to Practice: Environmental-focused interventions to support the participation of adolescents with ASD address hindering environmental features and strengthen those which are experienced by adolescents and their parents as inviting. Conclusion: Interventions should focus on strategies to make the environment more inviting and on understanding how the inclusion of adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder can be supported.

The trees and forests of Europe are increasingly under threat from new pests and diseases that have originated in other parts of the world. Early detection of alien species when they first appear in European countries allows rapid response and offers the best chance to mitigate against their establishment and spread. Citizen science initiatives such as LIFE ARTEMIS in Slovenia, and Observatree in the UK, provide members of the public with the necessary training and educational resource to identify these tree pests and diseases and report them to the appropriate authorities, thereby increasing the level of surveillance and the capacity of the early warning system. This paper summarises some of the outcomes of these two projects and how they have both become integral parts of the official forest and tree health monitoring systems within their respective countries of Slovenia and the United Kingdom.

Prepoznavanje invazivnih tujerodnih vrst (ITV) na terenu in hiter odziv na nove najdbe ITV v gozdovih sta med ključnimi izzivi gozdarske stroke. Z namenom krepitve zmogljivosti za zgodnje zaznavanje tujerodnih vrst v gozdovih je bilo v okviru projekta Osveščanje, usposabljanje in ukrepanje za invazivne tujerodne vrste v gozdu (LIFE ARTEMIS), ki je potekal v letih 2016-2020, 33 izobraževanj po Sloveniji in eno v tujini. Skupno se je izobraževanj udeležilo 1.059 udeležencev. Izobraževanja so bila izvedena za izvajalce usposabljanj, strokovnjake, lastnike gozdov, prostovoljce in zaposlene v podjetjih, povezanih z gozdom. Izobraževalni cilji usposabljanj so bili doseženi. Analiza samoocenjevalnih vprašalnikov udeležencev izobraževanj je pokazala, da so bili pred usposabljanjem malo do srednje usposobljeni, po usposabljanju pa srednje do dobro. Pred usposabljanjem je manj kot polovica anketirancev vedela, kako se odzvati, ko opazijo ITV v gozdu. Po usposabljanju pa je to vedelo več kot 90 % anketiranih. Po usposabljanju za prenos sistema za zgodnje obveščanje in hitro odzivanje (ZOHO) v druge evropske države je več kot 80 % anketiranih odgovorilo, da so se naučili nekaj novega o ITV, 79 % anketiranih pa si želi tudi v prihodnje sodelovati v sistemu ZOHO. Udeleženci si v prihodnje želijo predvsem dodatnih znanj na področju prepoznavanja ITV ter več terenskih izobraževanj. V prispevku predstavljamo rezultate spremljanja uspešnosti usposabljanj in razpravo o morebitni potrebi po dodatnih usposabljanjih na področju obveščanja in hitrega odzivanja za tujerodne vrste v gozdnem prostoru. Identifying alien invasive species (IAS) in the field and fast response to new IAS findings in forests represent one of the key challenges of modern forestry. Aiming to intensify the capacities for early detection of non-native species in forests, 33 training courses in Slovenia and one abroad were performed in the framework of the project Awareness, Training, and Actions for Non-Native Species in Forests (LIFE ARTEMIS) project taking place in years 2016-2020. A total of 1,059 participants attended the training courses. The training courses were performed for the training performers, professionals, forest owners, volunteers, and employees in the companies, connected with the forest. The training goals of these training courses were achieved. The analysis of the self-evaluation questionnaires showed that the participants had been little to fairly trained before the training and fairly to well-trained afterwards. Before the training, less than half of the respondents had known how to respond when noticing IAS in the forest. After the training, over 90 % of the respondents knew it. After the training for transferring the early warning and rapid response (EWRR) system into other European countries, over 80 % of the respondents answered that they learned something new about IAS. 79 % of the respondents wish to take part in the EWRR system also in the future. The participants want, above all, additional knowledge in the field of IAS detection and more field training in the future. In our article, we present the results of the training success monitoring and the discussion about an eventual need for additional training in the field of informing and fast response for non-native species in the forest space.

Karantenski škodljivi organizmi (KŠO) rastlin so organizmi, ki na območju EU niso prisotni oziroma so prisotni le v omejenem (obvladljivem) obsegu. V novi evropski zakonodaji s področja zdravja rastlin so med drugim opredeljeni seznami prednostnih KŠO, za katere mora vsaka država članica pripraviti načrte izrednih ukrepov za izkoreninjenje ob morebitni najdbi na njenem ozemlju ter te načrte redno testirati s simulacijskimi vajami. Karantenski škodljivi organizmi lahko povzročijo velike negativne gospodarske, okoljske in družbene učinke, zato je ob najdbi na območju EU potrebno njihovo takojšnje izkoreninjenje. Z namenom vpogleda v trenutno pripravljenost izvajalcev gozdarskih storitev za ukrepanje v primeru napada KŠO smo v septembru 2020 izvedli anketiranje v vzorec smo zajeli 11,8 % vseh registriranih izvajalcev gozdnih del v Sloveniji. Izvajalci največ informacij o KŠO pridobijo od strokovnega osebja na terenu, kar kaže na dobro delo gozdarske stroke v preteklosti, poleg tega so za informiranje o KŠO zaslužne tudi namenske projektne aktivnosti. V večini primerov (72,1 %) bi izvajalci o najdbi KŠO v gozdu najprej obvestili ZGS. Izvajalci del se v nasprotju z gozdarskimi strokovnjaki in študenti (anketa izvedena 2019) večinoma strinjajo, da je slovenska javnost dobro obveščena o KŠO. Več kot polovica izvajalcev (60,7 %) je izrazila pripravljenost za izobraževanje o KŠO (33,3 % le, če bi bila brezplačna), 66,4 % jih je zainteresiranih za vključitev v skupino za hitro ukrepanje ob napadu KŠO. Anketa kaže, da je ponudnikov pomembnih storitev za izkoreninjanje KŠO relativno malo % panje odstranjuje le 10,5 % izvajalcev, 18,8 % pa izvaja arboristične storitve in sečnjo na višini. Rezultati so pokazali na potrebo po nadaljnjem izobraževanju deležnikov prek strokovnega dela javne gozdarske službe in strokovnih nalog zdravstvenega varstva rastlin v gozdarstvu ter nadaljevanju uspešnih promocijskih in izobraževalnih projektnih aktivnosti (npr. LIFE ARTEMIS). Izobraževanje o KŠO je treba vključiti tudi v izobraževalne programe s področja gozdarstva. Quarantine pests are organisms that are not present in the EU or are present only in a limited (manageable) area. The new European legislation in the field of plant health introduced the list of priority plant pests and EU members have to prepare and keep up-to-date contingency plans and carry out simulation exercises. Quarantine pests can have a major negative impact on the economy, environment and society, so findings in the EU require immediate eradication. To gain insight into the current capacity of Slovenian forestry contractors to act, we conducted a survey in September 2020 the sample included 11.8% of all registered forestry contractors in Slovenia. They receive most information about quarantine pests from foresters in the field, which shows the effective work of Slovenian forestry and project activities related to quarantine pests. In most cases (72.1%), contractors would first inform Slovenia Forest Service about the discovery of a quarantine pest in the forest. In contrast to forestry professionals and students (2019 survey), contractors believe that the Slovenian public is well informed about quarantine pests. More than half of the contractors (60.7%) expressed their willingness to receive training on the topic (33.3% only if it were free), 66.4% are interested in joining a rapid response team for quarantine pest outbreaks. The survey shows that there are few forestry contractors that are important for quarantine pest eradication - only 10.5% of them offer stump removal, arboriculture services are provided by 18.8%. The results of our study point to the need to further educate stakeholders through the public forest service and specific plant health tasks, and to continue successful promotional and educational activities (e.g. LIFE ARTEMIS project). Education on quarantine pests should be included in the forestry curriculum.
