Objective: to analyse nurse's perception about 3S - Smart Safe Shoes use in their prototype phase and describe their evaluation about this use by hospitalized elderly patients. Method: exploratory, descriptive and mixed study, between November 2021 and March 2022. It included hospitalized elderly people who were able to walk and identified as being at risk of falling; and specialist nurses. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative data using thematic analysis. Results: 28 seniors and seven nurses participated, both agreed that the 3S - Smart Safe Shoes are comfortable. The nurses consider that the socks adapt perfectly to the different anatomical regions of the foot and that they have non-slip properties on the tested floors; and in most situations, they allow good mobility of the fingers, in all tibiotarsal movements (86%). All nurses highlight the ease of putting on stockings and consider that these should be included as an element in a fall prevention strategy. Conclusion: 3S - Smart Safe Shoes have the necessary characteristics to guarantee a safe gait in hospitalized elderly patients and their use should be considered in other contexts. Objective: to synthesize scientific knowledge about nurses' working methods in the hospital context. Method: scoping review study, based on the principles of the Joanna Briggs Institute, using the Medline (PubMed), CINAHL® and LILACS databases. As inclusion criteria, articles published in the languages of Portuguese, English and Spanish, between 2016 and 2021, that addressed the subject under study were defined. Findings related to nursing care in primary care and in specific contexts of nursing care were excluded. Results: of the 986 studies found, 15 articles were considered for analysis and three thematic areas were identified, working methods adopted by nurses, implications of adopting nurses' working methods, and facilitating/hindering factors in adopting nurses' working methods. Conclusion: the work method is one of the bases of professional practice, with several implications and factors that can contribute to the quality and safety of the nursing care provided. Objective: to analyze nurses' attitudes toward death in a hospital context after the critical period of the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal. Method: this quantitative, descriptive, exploratory study was conducted in a university hospital and addressed 995 nurses. Revised Death Attitude Profile (DAP-R) was used to collect data, which were analyzed using analytical and inferential statistics. Results: the nurses most frequently agreed with the statements concerning the Neutral/Neutrality Acceptance and Fear. Age, marital status, profession, and unit of work influenced the nurses' attitudes toward death. During the critical pandemic period, the nurses providing care to patients with COVID-19 presented the following means: Fear (28.89/±8.521) and Avoidance Acceptance (18.35/±7.116), which were higher than the mean obtained in the Escape Acceptance dimension, with significant differences (p=0.004). Conclusion: the nurses held Fear and Avoidance attitudes, revealing the need to qualify and support Nursing workers to cope with the death of those they provide care and manage pandemics and catastrophes. Objective: to analyze the factorial structure of the Perception Scale of Nursing Activities that Contribute to the Quality of Care. Method: a methodological study with 3,451 nurses from 36 Portuguese hospitals. In addition to carrying out confirmatory factorial analysis, Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability were used to assess the reliability of the obtained factorial model. Results: the factorial weights of the solution found were mostly high; the values of the model's adjustment indexes were reasonable; Cronbach's alpha was elevated for the entire scale and five dimensions, being acceptable in only one dimension. The composite reliability was also high in five dimensions, except for one, considered acceptable. All activities showed high individual reliability. Conclusion: Compared to the original scale, the identified factorial model contemplates six dimensions and not seven, producing a reliable and valid scale, which can be applied in the hospital context. Objectives: To systematically synthesize studies that analyze the relationship between a healthy practice environment and quality of nursing care in hospital settings; to identify the most commonly used instruments to assess nurses' perceptions of a healthy practice environment; to identify the most commonly used instruments to assess nurses' perceptions of quality of nursing care. Method: A systematic literature review will follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The literature search will be conducted in the principal databases. Review of international scientific articles published in the last ten years, accessed through the database of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS), University of Porto, on nurses' perceptions of the influence of the environment on healthy nursing practice and quality of care. Inclusion: Articles published after 2012 in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. The identified, selected and included studies will be highlighted for the selection process using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses Protocols (PRISMA-P). If possible, quantitative data will be pooled into a meta-analysis using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument (MASTARI). Background: Healthy aging is assumed as a challenge of modern societies, yet not having enough concerns for this age group in health promotion programs. Objetives: Describe the relevant data of the profile to the elderly of a UCC of the north of Portugal to guide us to an intervention program in the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive and exploratory study, with a sample of 1,522 elderly subjects of a northern municipality of Portugal. Results: The studied sample shows moderate self-care dependency, being skeletal disease and osteoarticular the most frequent pathology found, followed by endocrine and cardiovascular diseases. Most of the subjects adopt unhealthy lifestyles habits  while existing differences between both genders. Conclusion: These findings show existing characteristics on the elderly that can be the target of an early intervention by rehabilitation nurses. Background: In the current context of patient safety promotion, nurse managers play a key role in health care. Objectives: To identify nurse managers’ perceptions and their management strategies regarding the error, and to analyze the corrective and preventive measures implemented by them. Methodolog y: Qualitative study, based on James Reason’s theory, with semi-structured interviews to a convenience sample of 14 nurse managers of a hospital center in the central region of Portugal. Content analysis was performed using the ATLAS.ti software. Results: Eight categories were identified and grouped into two thematic areas. The following categories were identified: Analysis with the nurse, and Report to the physician in the Person approach; and Analysis with the team, Adverse event reporting, Working Group, Awareness, Analysis of complaints, and Positive reinforcement in the System approach. Conclusion: Systemic categories outnumbered individual categories. Participants emphasized the need to improve adherence to reporting. No strategies for error prevention were identified.
