Colorectal cancer is the world's 3rd most frequent malignant neoplasm and the 4th most common cancer in Iraq. Leptin and Adiponectin are two major Adipocytokines produced by adipose cells that have opposite effects on the formation of colorectal tumors. Leptin induces tumor growth and metastasis, whereas Adiponectin inhibits it. 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D controls and limits cancer cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Vitamin C deficiency, on the other hand, has been regularly detected in cancer tissues and has potent anti-cancer properties. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is described as an abnormalities of renal function, existing for a long period of time. By reason of the early grades of Chronic kidney disease can be experiences no symptoms, its premature identification is strenuous. initial stage CRD can cause various complications, such as anemia, matabolyic disorders of bone mineral. The study was done to assess the effect the chronic renal disease stage on the Osteoprotegerin, 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D, Obestatin levels and some biochemical parameters in patients not undertaken dialysis therapy. In this case-control study fifty-five patients with Kidney failure and fourty healthy people were examined. Circulating concentrations of Osteoprotegerin, 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D and Obestatin were estimated by ELIZA technique, serum urea, uric acid, total protein and total calciumu were estimated enzymatically using spectrophotometer. Serum concentration of Osteoprotegerin, Obestatin, renal function markers in patients group were higher (328.3±41.68 pg/mL; 15.52±4.28pg/mL; 183.2±10.35 mg/dL; 8.88±0.54 mg/dL; 6.57±0.22 mg/dL) respectively in comparison to the control group (172.6±55.48 pg/mL; 11.64±3.26 pg/mL; 33.45±1.08 mg/dL; 0.95±0.03 mg/dL; 4.35±0.22 mg/dL) respectively. Vitamin D, Total Calcium and Total Proteins level in patients group were lower(24.49±2.53 ng/mL; 8.06±0.18 mg/dL; 6.49±0.12 g/dL) respectively as compared to controls (57.11±12.39 ng/mL; 10.15±0.23 mg/dL; 6.82±0.10 g/dL) respectively. The current study reveals that circulating levels of Osteoprotegerin Obestatin are remarkably linked with the existence of renal failure, the current data identify a high prevalence deficiency and insufficiency of 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D in patients with moderate and severe Chronic nephropathy.

Life skills, also known as psychosocial and non-cognitive skills, are critical to children’s development and well-being as they progress through early life courses but difficult to measure. The present study aims at validating a culturally adapted version of the Multidimensional Scale of Life Skills in Late Childhood in the context of primary school of rural Afghanistan and Pakistan. The instrument was face validated by six of the authors. The scale was found accessible to students’ grades three to five despite its original target of late childhood. Content validation was also carried out by the authors to evaluate the representativeness of the scale items for the various dimensions of life skills. The items were found relevant for the seven dimensions of life skills considered. The scale also showed overall good internal consistency, acceptable test retest and inter rate consistence and high responsiveness. Exploratory factorial analysis showed that 4 and 3 factors explained 40% and 37% of the total variance respectively in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The most common cause of death is cardiovascular disease (CVD), with ischemic heart disease being the most notable type. There is a propensity to raise the sensitivity of methods in contemporary laboratory for diagnosing of CVD, and assessing key as CVD bio-indicators. The urgent task is to seek for different indicators as a hopeful tool for early detection and monitoring of myocardial infarction in blood samples only. Humans always mount a robust immune response to the bacterial infection caused by Helicobacter pylori, which causes various gastrointestinal tract infections. Calprotectin (CALP) and B-Cell Activating Factor (BAFF) are inflammatory biomarkers having a role in the gastrointestinal neutrophilic response to bacterial infection. The study was designed to assess serum CALP and BAFF as inflammatory biomarkers in H. pylori infection and peptic ulcer patients. The current study comprised 112 people, including 62 H. pylori-infected patients (34 men and 28 women) who were clinically diagnosed with H. pylori infection via testing positive for the H. pylori stool antigen test; they were compared to a control group of 50 healthy people (34 men and 16 women) who were age and gender-matched to H. pylori-infected patients. The serum level of CALP and BAFF were assayed using the ELISA technique. The biochemical parameters were statistically compared between patients and controls by unpaired Man-Whitney U t-test and Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. There was a significant elevation of serum CALP in H. pylori-infected patients [116.4(120.7), p=0.0132] in comparison to healthy controls [99.50(115.8)]. Similarly, there was a significant elevation of serum BAFF concentration in H. pylori-infected patients [485.7(367.1), p=0.0014] in comparison to healthy controls [444.5(513.0)]. The ROC curve analysis suggests serum CALP and BAFF as reasonable inflammatory biomarkers for H. pylori infection with statistically significant (p=0.0135, p=0.0015) area under the ROC curve of (0.6361, 0.6748), respectively. CALP and BAFF are potent inflammatory biomarkers involved in the development and etiology of H. pylori infection. Serum CALP and BAFF levels could be used as biomarkers for chronic inflammation induced by H. pylori. CALP and BAFF biomarkers can be combined to diagnose and predict the prognosis of H. pylori infection.

The medicinal plants (Astragalus species) have been used traditionally as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and Anti-diabetics. The current research investigates the phytochemistry and some biological activity of methanol extract of different parts of Astragalus bruguieri Bioss., a wild medicinal plant grows on Safeen mountain, Erbil, Iraq. The methanol extracts of A. bruguieri were analyzed for total phenolic, flavonoid, and saponin contents. In-vitro antioxidant activity was analyzed by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) assays. Furthermore, the plant extracts were examined for in-vitro enzyme inhibitory activity and in-vivo sub-acute toxicity. The results have shown the highest total phenolic (28.83, 20.62 mg GAEs/g extracts) contents, in the leave and root extracts, respectively. While the highest total Flavonoid (50.08, 44.01 mg REs/g) contents, were found in the extracts of aerial parts and leaves, respectively. The total saponin was higher (25.33, 23.18 mg GAEs/g extracts) in the roots and aerial parts, respectively. In-vitro antioxidant measurement by (DPPH) assay showed leaves as superior part in this activity (42.19mg TEs/g extract), while antioxidant evaluation by (ABTS) assay indicated roots as the most active part (86.90mg TEs/g extract). The α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitory activity were found as 0.45-0.67, and 1.2-1.8 mmol ACAEs/g, respectively. The oral acute toxicity test indicated the safety of 600mg/kg dosage of different parts of A. bruguieri on albino rats without behavioral abnormality or mortality. The current study is considered as the first report on the A. bruguieri as a possible new source of biocompatible material for many industrial products.

Ovarian cancer has a high mortality and delayed diagnosis. Several immunological alterations take place during ovarian carcinogenesis, and can be of value in the surveillance of the diseases. This research was conducted to evaluate serum immunoglobulin levels in women with ovarian cancer and to assess their role in disease process. The present study is composed of 85 women (mean age = 62.03±12.4 yrs) with clinically and pathologically confirmed ovarian cancer and 65 healthy females as a control group (mean age = 61±12.1 yrs). ELISA test was achieved for the determination of serum [IgG, IgA, IgM]. The findings of current study illustrated significant (P=0.001) increase in serum IgG, IgA, and IgM levels as compared to controls. Analyzing serum immunoglobulins levels might assist in identify patients with a weak prediction, the elevation of serum immunoglobulins can be considered as an indication for disease status.

In this paper we study semi nilpotent elements in rings. It is shown that every element of Z nwhere n is square free is a trivial semi nilpotent. It is proved that every nontrivial nilpotent element is a nontrivial semi nilpotent. Conditions are given under which every element of the group ring ZnG is semi nilpotent. It is shown that if p is prime and p divides the order of G, then ZpG has nontrivial semi nilpotent. Also it is proved that if G is a cyclic group of order qn, then every element of ZpG, p is prime, is semi nilpotent.

Background: Breast cancer is one of the diseases that a woman may have to face during her lifetime. Hormones play a role in breast cancer spread, determining the association between plasma hormones and breast cancer risk may provide insight into the etiology of breast cancer. Serum adenosine deaminase levels was measured in patients with acute renal failure and compare them with the results of healthy individuals. Serum adenosine deaminase levels were found to be significantly higher in patient with acute renal failure than in healthy individuals (63±20.1U/L) and (28±9.2IU/L), respectively. The study was carried in optimum pH value (6.5) and optimum temperature 37ć by which enzyme possess highest activity, the activation energy (Ea) of the reaction (ES-Complex) formation was estimated.
