The article "Santo Domingo in the history of Güímar: from convent to town hall" analyzes the evolution of the former Santo Domingo convent in Soriano, currently the seat of the Güímar City Hall and the parish church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán. The historical, artistic, and urban importance of the building is highlighted, as well as its transformation over time. Topics such as devotion to the Virgin of Candelaria, the founding of the convent, its economic and social development, as well as the reconstruction after a fire in 1775 are addressed. The various activities and uses that the building has had over the years are also mentioned, from being a convent to housing public facilities such as the jail, the library, and the City Hall.
