Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is a well-recognized, non-immediate, drug hypersensitivity reaction, often attributed to the use of various medications, most commonly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and antibiotics. Cross-reactivity between related NSAIDs in FDE has been reported, but among chemically unrelated NSAIDs, is rare. Herein, we present a rare well-documented case where a patient initially displayed tolerance to etoricoxib after experiencing a nimesulide-induced FDE. Subsequently, the patient developed an etoricoxib-induced FDE, accompanied by the development of bullous lesions. This case report and the literature review on comparable FDE occurrences shed light on the intricate nature of FDEs, suggesting the possibility of cross-reactivity between chemically related and unrelated NSAIDs or the emergence of new drug-specific T cells without cross-reactivity after multiple exposures to a drug in a susceptible patient. Our case underscores the importance of increased awareness and vigilance among both physicians and patients in the realm of personalized medicine. Background: Dermatoscopy has been established as an important diagnostic tool for a wide range of skin diseases. This study aims to evaluate the use of dermatoscopy in clinical practice among Greek dermatologists. Methods: A nationwide questionnaire-based survey was conducted collecting data on the frequency of dermatoscopic examinations, the types of lesions examined, training and educational resources, as well as factors influencing the choice to incorporate dermatoscopy into daily clinical routines. Results: A total of 366 Greek dermatologists participated in the survey. Most of the respondents reported the daily use of dermatoscopy in their practice. Pigmented and non-pigmented lesions, inflammatory diseases, cutaneous infectious, hair disorders, and nail lesions were the most common indications for dermatoscopy. Factors influencing the utilization of dermatoscopy included increased diagnostic accuracy, enhanced patient care, better patient communication and general compliance, and improved satisfaction among dermatologists. Conclusions: This national questionnaire-based study demonstrates that dermatoscopy has become an integral part of daily dermatological practice in Greece. The findings highlight the significance of structured training and education to promote dermoscopy's effective and routine use. Incorporating dermatoscopy into clinical practice not only improves diagnostic precision but also enhances patient care, contributing to the overall quality of dermatological services in Greece. Background/Aim: Class III malocclusion case are considered complex problems associated with unacceptable esthetics. The purpose of the present study was to assess the characteristics of the soft tissue profile and investigate the possible gender differences in adult Greeks with Class III malocclusion. Material and Methods: The material of the study comprised of 57 pretreatment lateral cephalograms of adult patients with Class III malocclusion aged 18 to 39 years. Eleven variables were assessed. The variables were measured and the mean, minimum and maximum and standard deviations were calculated. Parametric and non-parametric tests were used to compare males and females patients. Results: The total sample was characterized by concave skeletal profile. Male patients exhibited greater nose prominence and superior sulcus depth, longer distance from subnasale to the harmony line, more concave profile, thicker upper lip and larger upper lip strain. Conclusions: Many significant differences were noted in soft tissue characteristics between males and females with skeletal Class III malocclusion, suggesting possible gender dimorphism.

This article discusses the use of upadacitinib, a Janus kinase inhibitor (JAKi), as a potential treatment for chronic actinic dermatitis (CAD). CAD is a rare immunologically mediated photodermatosis that causes pruritic, eczematous, and lichenified plaques on sun-exposed areas of the skin. Current treatment options for CAD include topical therapy with corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors, as well as oral corticosteroids and immunosuppressive drugs. However, some patients do not respond to these treatments, highlighting the need for novel therapeutic approaches. Upadacitinib has shown promise in treating other dermatoses and has been successful in treating a 75-year-old man with refractory CAD. A case study reports the real-world effectiveness and safety of vismodegib in Greek patients with advanced, multiple, and metastatic basal cell carcinoma (BCC), detailing treatment outcomes and adverse events. The study, though limited by its retrospective design and small sample size, highlights high response rates but also frequent treatment discontinuations due to adverse effects, indicating challenges in long-term drug use for controlling advanced BCCs.

Abstract: The UMR-PRU model, which has been successfully tested in the past to the predictions of different type of phase equilibrium and thermodynamic properties in binary and multicomponent systems, is applied in this work to phase equilibria in mixtures containing CO2 and organic acids. New interaction parameters are determined by fitting only binary vapor–liquid equilibrium data and then they are used to predict the vapor–liquid, solid–gas and solid–liquid–gas equilibria in CO2/organic acid systems. Furthermore, the UMR-PRU model with the newly derived interaction parameters is applied to the prediction of the phase equilibrium in ternary mixtures consisting of CO2, organic acids and water. Abstract: In order to evaluate the feasibility of CO2 sequestration in geological formations detailed knowledge of the mutual solubilities of the CO2/H2O system is required. In this work we employ three models, which all involve the well-known Peng–Robinson equation of state, to study the CO2/H2O phase equilibrium, with emphasis on the solubility of CO2 in the aqueous phase and the solubility of H2O in the CO2-rich phase. The considered models include the Peng–Robinson equation of state coupled with the conventional van der Waals one fluid mixing rules or the universal mixing rules, and the cubic-plus-association equation of state that uses the Peng–Robinson equation of state in order to account for the usual attractive and repulsive forces and an extra association term to account for the strong hydrogen bonding interactions. The required model parameters are calibrated using experimental data up to 1500bar for pressure, and up to 673K for temperature. To improve the accuracy of the proposed models we consider two temperature ranges. Temperatures lower than 373K are of interest to the geological CO2 sequestration, while higher temperatures are of interest to fluid-inclusion studies. Good agreement is obtained between the experimental and the correlated solubilities. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
