Orgasm is considered by many to be an essential part of women’s ideal sexual experiences. As a result, sexual liberation narratives have often advocated for the prioritization of women’s orgasms – particularly during heterosex – framing them as a central indicator of “good,” healthy, liberated sex. However, scholars have increasingly critiqued these narratives, arguing that they result in an orgasm imperative that has negatively impacted women’s sexual lives. Perspectives that promote the prioritization of women’s orgasm and those that warn against the negative repercussions strive for the same thing – to draw attention to women’s sexuality in ways that will lead to more pleasurable, enjoyable, and equitable sex for women overall. Yet, together, they offer contradictory messages about the role that women’s orgasms can or should play in women’s sexual liberation. For example, one could argue that it perhaps makes sense to prioritize women’s orgasms given that they often are highly pleasurable for women, center a unique form of embodied pleasure, and offer a supposedly clear objective for women and their men partners. On the other hand, such narratives frame women’s orgasm absence as abnormal, concede to men’s sexuality in problematic ways, and constrain more comprehensive possibilities for women’s sexual pleasure. In this critical feminist review, I offer a summative outline of these and other contradictions, focusing on how narratives prioritizing women’s orgasms can have simultaneous benefits and negative repercussions when it comes to (1) women’s sexual pleasure, (2) the medicalization/pathologization of women’s orgasms, and (3) heterosex norms. Dysorgasmia in women is an infrequent reason for consulting a clinician. In this article, the authors describe the case of a woman with right-sided pelvic pain immediately after orgasm. Dysorgasmia is likely to negatively impact sexual health but is rarely discussed in medical literature. Furthermore, assessment and treatment guidelines for clinicians are currently lacking. Therefore, the authors conducted a literature review and created a preliminary assessment guide, considering both medical and gray literature. A brief flowchart was developed which can facilitate the assessment of dysorgasmia in women for clinicians and improve the quality of care for patients. Further research on the etiology and pathophysiology of dysorgasmia in women is warranted, as is a more proactive attitude of clinicians to discuss sexual health. Background: Modifying the maternal immune system is necessary to facilitate embryo implantation. Modifying the immune system can occur in several ways, including maternal exposure to the partner's seminal plasma. Seminal plasma exposure can occur through sexual intercourse. To prove this theory, we investigate the effect of sexual intercourse on the chances of successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) in both fresh and frozen embryo transfer (ET) groups in terms of biochemical and clinical pregnancy. Methods: This is an observational analytical study with a retrospective cohort study design. This study compared biochemical and clinical pregnancy in patient groups who had sexual intercourse with those who did not have sexual intercourse during the IVF process. This study involved 132 participants. Results: The results of this study reported that there was no signiflcant difference in pregnancy rates between patients who had sex before ET and those who did not have sex before ET. However, patients who experience orgasm during sex show signiflcant rates of biochemical (p = 0.009) and clinical pregnancy (p = 0.027) rates. Conclusions: Sexual intercourse did not show a signiflcant difference between the groups who had sex before ET and those who did not have sex, but the experience of orgasm every time they had sex recently had a positive impact on reproductive health, especially pregnancy. Background: Pelvic pain worsened by orgasm is a poorly understood symptom in patients with endometriosis. Aim: To assess the prevalence of pelvic pain worsened by orgasm in patients with endometriosis and explore its association with potential etiologic factors, including pelvic floor myalgia, uterine tenderness and adenomyosis, and central nervous system sensitization. Methods: An analysis was done of a prospective data registry based at a tertiary referral center for endometriosis. Eligible participants were patients aged 18 to 50 years who were referred between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2019, diagnosed with endometriosis, and subsequently underwent surgery at the center. Clinical features were compared between participants reporting worsening pelvic pain with orgasm and those without worsening pain with orgasm, including patient-reported variables, physical examination findings, and anatomic phenotyping at the time of surgery. Pelvic floor myalgia and uterine tenderness were assessed by palpation on pelvic examination, adenomyosis by ultrasound, and central nervous system sensitization via the Central Sensitization Inventory (range, 0-100). Outcomes: Outcomes included pelvic or lower abdominal pain in the last 3 months that worsened with orgasm (yes/no). Results: Among 358 participants with endometriosis, 14% (49/358) reported pain worsened by orgasm while 86% (309/358) did not. Pain with orgasm was significantly associated with pelvic floor myalgia (55% [27/49] vs 35% [109/309]; Cohen's h = 0.40, P =.01) and higher scores on the Central Sensitization Inventory (mean ± SD, 53.3 ± 17.0 vs 42.7 ± 18.2; Cohen's d = 0.60, P <.001) but not with uterine tenderness or adenomyosis. Other clinical features associated with pain with orgasm were poorer sexual health (higher scores: deep dyspareunia, Cohen's h = 0.60; superficial dyspareunia, Cohen's h = 0.34; and Female Sexual Distress Scale–Revised, Cohen's d = 0.68; all P <.05) and poorer mental health (higher scores: Patient Health Questionnaire–9, 12.9 ± 6.7 vs 9.1 ± 6.3, Cohen's d = 0.59, P <.001; Generalized Anxiety Disorder–7, 9.4 ± 5.6 vs 6.8 ± 5.5, Cohen's d = 0.48, P =.002). Anatomic findings at the time of surgery did not significantly differ between the groups. Clinical Implications: Interventions targeting pelvic floor myalgia and central nervous system sensitization may help alleviate pain worsened by orgasm in patients with endometriosis. Strengths and Limitations: A strength is that pain worsened by orgasm was differentiated from dyspareunia. However, pain with orgasm was assessed by only a binary question (yes/no). Also, the study is limited to a single center, and there were limited data on sexual function. The subjective orgasm experience (SOE) refers to the perception, sensation and/or evaluation of orgasm from a psychological point of view, representing an important construct of sexual functioning rarely studied under a dyadic approach. This study analyzed SOE in the contexts of sexual relationships and solitary masturbation in 179 different-sex and same-sex couples. The results indicated the absence of differences in intradyadic discrepancies in SOE dimensions in both sexual contexts, varying according to the type of couple. Besides, the study also highlights the influence of some of these discrepancies of SOE in solitary masturbation on SOE discrepancies in sexual relationships among the members of male-female and female-female couples. Furthermore, the study revealed that the intensity of partners' orgasm experience during solitary masturbation influences the intensity of SOE during sexual relationships, with variations observed based on the type of couple. These findings highlight the importance of considering SOE from a dyadic approach, with the association of orgasmic experience in both sexual contexts gaining relevance, differing according to the couple type. Rationale: Sexuality is a central aspect of being human that encompasses many facets. Cannabis, a widely used psychoactive substance, has been associated with various effects on sexuality. The relationship between cannabis and sexuality is complex and multifaceted, involving physiological, psychological, and social factors. Objectives: This review aims to provide an overview of the current literature on the effects of cannabis on several sexual functions, including sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, and sexual satisfaction. It also discusses the potential mechanisms underlying these effects, as well as the impact of dose and frequency of use. Results: This review has revealed a complex relationship between cannabis dosage and its influence on sexuality. It appears that the frequency of cannabis use in humans has been associated with the frequency of sexual activities. Individuals who use cannabis more frequently tend to report higher levels of sexual activity. Moreover, there is a notable gender difference in how cannabis affects sexuality. In addition, we found lower doses of cannabis to be linked to heightened sexual desire and enjoyment, whereas higher doses may lead to a decrease in sexual desire and performance. Conclusions: Overall, the association between cannabis and sexuality is complex and warrants further research to better understand the psychological and neurological mechanisms that underlie the effect of cannabis on these sexuality functions and its implications for sexual health. RÉSUMÉ Le diagnostic et la prise en charge du cancer du sein (CS) affectent d'une manière complexe la vie sexuelle des femmes et touchent au symbole de la féminité, qui est très important dans la constitution de l'image du corps. Nos objectifs ont été d'évaluer le fonctionnement sexuel et l'image du corps des patientes en rémission d'un CS localisé, de déterminer les liens entre ces deux paramètres et d'étudier leur rapport avec les modalités thérapeutiques du CS. Nous avons mené une étude transversale, descriptive et analytique au sein des services d'oncologie médicale et de radiothérapie du centre hospitalo-universitaire Habib Bourguiba de Sfax, de février à août 2022. Pour chaque patiente, une fiche de renseignements cliniques a été remplie ainsi que deux échelles psychométriques : Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) pour évaluer le fonctionnement sexuel, et Body Image Scale (BIS) pour explorer l'image du corps. La série étudiée comprenait 74 patientes dont l'âge moyen était de 51,55 ans. Elles ont été traitées par chirurgie conservatrice (44,6%) ou radicale (55,4%), chimiothérapie (87,8%), hormonothérapie (79,7%), thérapies ciblées (36,5%) et radiothérapie (97,3%). Elles présentaient une dysfonction sexuelle (DS) dans 51,4% des cas et un désir sexuel hypoactif dans 87,8% des cas. Un trouble de l'image du corps a été trouvé dans 36,5% des cas, et était significativement associé à la présence de DS (p = 0,001). Le score total du FSFI (p = 0,001) ainsi que les sous-scores du désir (p = 0,005), de l'excitation (p = 0,003), de l'orgasme (p = 0,002), de la satisfaction (p < 0,001) et de la douleur (p = 0,03) ont été significativement plus bas chez les patientes ayant un trouble de l'image du corps. La présence de DS n'était associée à aucune modalité thérapeutique. The diagnosis and the management of breast cancer (BC) affect in a complex way women's sexual lives and touch the symbol of femininity, which is very important in the constitution of the body image. Our objectives were to assess the sexual functioning and the body image of patients in remission of localized BC, to determine the links between these two parameters, and to study their relationship with the therapeutic modalities. We conducted a cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study in the medical oncology and radiotherapy departments of Habib Bourguiba University Hospital Center in Sfax (Tunisia), between February and August 2022. Patients were assessed based on a clinical information sheet and two psychometric scales exploring sexual functioning and body image: Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and Body Image Scale (BIS). The sample comprised 74 patients with a mean age of 51.55 years. They were treated by conservative or radical surgery (44.6% and 55.4%, respectively), chemotherapy (87.8%), hormone therapy (79.7%), targeted therapies (36.5%), and radiotherapy (97.3%). A rate of 51.4% of women had sexual dysfunction (SD), 87.8% had hypoactive sexual desire and 36.5% had body image disorder. The body image disorder was significantly associated with DS (p = 0.001). The total FSFI score (p = 0.001) as well as the subscores of desire (p = 0.005), arousal (p = 0.003), orgasm (p = 0.002), satisfaction (p < 0.001), and pain (0.03) were significantly lower in patients with body image disorder. The presence of a SD was not associated with any therapeutic modality. In contrast, the presence of body image disorder was significantly associated with the radical type of surgery (p = 0.003) and chemotherapy (p = 0.001). Our results showed a relatively high frequency of SD and body image disorder in women in remission from BC. These two parameters seem to be closely linked, and this link would be maintained by mastectomy and chemotherapy, which appear to be therapeutic modalities incriminated in the disturbance of body image. Hence the importance of medical follow-up and psychological support for these operated patients to help them overcome all the physical, psychological, and sexual difficulties to which they are exposed. Background and Aim: Orgasm is the peak of sexual arousal or behavior, whenever the peak of satisfaction is attained. Sexual satisfaction refers to the subjective experience of pleasure, contentment, and fulfillment related to one’s sexual activities and relationships and intimacy is the heart and soul of a close relationship. India is a diverse country with unique cultural, social, and economic factors that can impact women’s experiences in terms of intimacy and sexual satisfaction. The aim is to find out the relationship between orgasm in sexual satisfaction and intimacy among females in India. Materials and Methods: A descriptive research design is used for the present study. Through simple random sampling, 128 females who were married, people who can understand English, and who provided informed consent were selected for the study. The study was conducted from April 2022 to March 2023. The 20-item New Sexual Satisfaction Scale and the 36-item personal assessment of intimacy in relationships, and a semi-structured interview schedule were administered. Data were statistically analyzed using the statistical package for social services software, Version 26.0. A simple percentage analysis was used. The correlation was calculated for the variables. The Pearson correlation method was used to find the relationship between variables. A one-way ANOVA was employed to find out the significant mean difference between the demographic variables with a 95% confidence level, and P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The result reveals that there is a relationship between intimacy and sexual satisfaction. Researchers found that there is a significant difference between sexual satisfaction and age, educational qualification, family type, place of living, and orgasm. Conclusion: There exists a positive correlation between intimacy and sexual satisfaction. This study helps to create awareness and promote intimacy, orgasm, and sexual satisfaction among Indian females.

Male infertility (MI) and male sexual dysfunction (MSD) can often coexist together due to various interplay factors such as psychosexual, sociocultural and relationship dynamics. The presence of each form of MSD can adversely impact male reproduction and treatment strategies will need to be individualized based on patients’ factors, local expertise, and geographical socioeconomic status. The Asia Pacific Society of Sexual Medicine (APSSM) and the Asian Society of Men’s Health and Aging (ASMHA) aim to provide a consensus statement and practical set of clinical recommendations based on current evidence to guide clinicians in the management of MI and MSD within the Asia-Pacific (AP) region. A comprehensive, narrative review of the literature was performed to identify the various forms of MSD and their association with MI. MEDLINE and EMBASE databases were searched for the following English language articles under the following terms: “low libido”, “erectile dysfunction”, “ejaculatory dysfunction”, “premature ejaculation”, “retrograde ejaculation”, “delayed ejaculation”, “anejaculation”, and “orgasmic dysfunction” between January 2001 to June 2022 with emphasis on published guidelines endorsed by various organizations. This APSSM consensus committee panel evaluated and provided evidence-based recommendations on MI and clinically relevant MSD areas using a modified Delphi method by the panel and specific emphasis on locoregional socioeconomic- cultural issues relevant to the AP region. While variations exist in treatment strategies for managing MI and MSD due to geographical expertise, locoregional resources, and sociocultural factors, the panel agreed that comprehensive fertility evaluation with a multidisciplinary management approach to each MSD domain is recommended. It is important to address individual MI issues with an emphasis on improving spermatogenesis and facilitating reproductive avenues while at the same time, managing various MSD conditions with evidence-based treatments. All therapeutic options should be discussed and implemented based on the patient’s individual needs, beliefs and preferences while incorporating locoregional expertise and available resources.

This article provides a review and visualization of findings over the last 30 years related to the orgasm gap between men and women in heterosexual encounters. We describe and compare techniques commonly used for measuring orgasm occurrence and frequency patterns, and we summarize the contrast in orgasm rates shown in these studies across different behavior sets and social contexts. Of central importance, women’s orgasm rates increase dramatically with the inclusion of behaviors that provide specific stimulation to the clitoris, revealing this gap is largely driven by social dynamics rather than strictly biological mechanisms. Disparities between men and women are especially pronounced in contexts with low levels of partnered sexual experience, partner familiarity, and relationship commitment. Women are also more likely to experience orgasm when masturbating or partnered with women than when partnered with men. Ultimately, we echo calls for a biopsychosocial approach to sexual enjoyment and well-being, and we provide recommendations for future research, including increased precision in measurement and reporting, diversifying sampling concentrations, and assessing life course trajectories. Breast cancer is especially prevalent among women. It can affect patients' sexual function, body image, and marital relations. The aim of present study was to investigate the relationship between body image and sexual function among women with breast cancer. This case–control study was done online on patients admitted to the clinic of breast cancer in 2021 in Jahrom, Iran. The sample consisted of 222 women (111 with breast cancer who had undergone mastectomy and 111 without breast cancer). To collect data, two questionnaires, female sexual function index and body image scale, were used. p < 0.05 was significant. Sexual dysfunction among women with breast cancer was 91%. The most common disorder was sexual arousal. Comparing sexual domains: desires disorder (OR: 3.11, 95% CI: 1.63–5.49), arousal disorder (3.31, 95% CI: 1.16–9.45), orgasm (OR: 4.08, 95% CI: 1.57–10.55), vaginal lubrication (OR: 2.68, 95% CI: 1.06–6.76), sexual satisfaction (OR: 2.65, 95% CI: 1.11–6.36), and painful intercourse (OR = 2.03 95% CI = 0.95–4.35) saw a decrease in the women with breast cancer group compared to the control group. The body image concern among women with breast cancer (51.56 ± 15.09) compared to the control (45.80 ± 16.82) was significant (OR = OR: 2.66, 95% CI: 1.22–5.81). Women with breast cancer undergo problems in sexuality and are afraid of their body image. Moreover, there is a correlation between sexuality and body image. Therefore, it is necessary to inform patients about the effects of treatments and the side effects of breast cancer on sexuality. Sexual dysfunctions are highly prevalent among women with breast cancer, and have been associated with body image. This study examined the relationship between body image and sexual function among women with breast cancer. Individuals with concealable stigma continually decide whether, and if so, how to disclose to others. These complex decision-making processes are evident across various stigmatized sexual health contexts, including sexually transmitted diseases and infections, LGBTQ+ identities, and sexual trauma, among others. One context that has received less attention within communication scholarship is difficulty orgasming among women. Due to the stigma associated with this experience, women are often reluctant to disclose their orgasm difficulties to others, especially their sexual and/or relational partners. However, the motivations women have for, and the factors they consider prior to disclosure have yet to be identified. Building upon extant sexual health communication, concealable stigma, and disclosure research, this study used semi-structured interviews (N = 31) to examine how women disclose orgasm difficulties within their sexual and/or romantic relationships. Our findings highlight several motivations women have for (non)disclosure, and various contextual and situational factors that complicate their disclosure processes. This study contributes to our theoretical understanding of the disclosure processes model (DPM) and the disclosure of concealable (sexual health) stigma. Previous research has shown that women's orgasms function as a masculinity achievement for men. Less clear is whether men's orgasms function as a gendered achievement for women. In the present study, we explored this question via an experimental design by randomly assigning 440 women (M age = 32.29, SD age = 11.91) to read a vignette in which they imagined that an attractive man either did or did not orgasm during a sexual encounter with them. The women then rated their feelings of achievement, failure, femininity, and masculinity in response to the scenario along with how much they would attribute the situation to themselves or to the man partner. Results showed that women experienced men's orgasm presence as a femininity achievement and men's orgasm absence as a femininity failure. There were lesser impacts on women's feelings of masculinity. Feelings of achievement and failure were stronger for women who attributed the scenario more strongly to themselves. Further, greater sexual assertiveness in general predicted stronger feelings of achievement in response to men's orgasm presence and greater feminine gender role stress predicted stronger feelings of failure in response to men's orgasm absence. Together, findings highlight that men's orgasm seems to function as an achievement for women; however, the connection to femininity (which is less valued and prescribed differently compared to masculinity) denotes that men's orgasms for women are a different gendered experience with different stakes compared to women's orgasms for men. Objectives: Sexual functions are the result of multifactorial and complex processes. While the negative effects of weight gain in men are clearly known, this is not clearly known in women and also there are few studies on the subject. This study aims to determine the effects of body mass index (BMI) on sexual functions. Materials and Methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional and prospective research. Participants were divided into three groups according to their BMI data. The distribution of the participants to the groups is as follows: 80 normal weight (41.2%), 59 overweight (30.4%), and 55 obese (28.4%) participants. Female sexual function index (FSFI) was used to evaluate sexual dysfunctions. Results: It was determined that 40.7% of the participants had sexual dysfunction. It was observed that there was no significant difference between BMI groups in terms of sexual dysfunction (p=0.336). However, as a result of the evaluation of FSFI scores according to its domains, a statistically significant decrease was found in orgasm (r=-0.151, p=0.036) and FSFI total (r=-0.158, p=0.028) scores as WHR increased, and in orgasm (r=-0.205, p=0.004) scores as BMI increased. Conclusion: It was observed that obesity is particularly associated with orgasm in women. The increase in the waist/hip ratio appears to be associated with sexual dysfunction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: A large number of women suffer from sexual dysfunction. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is a psycho-educational therapy the main purpose of which is to help the individual alter their dysfunctional beliefs and behaviors. We investigated the impact of CBT on reproductive-aged women's sexual function. Methods: The present study is a systematic review and meta-analysis in which a number of databases (Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Embase) were searched from inception to November 2023. Clinical trials examining the impact of CBT on female sexual dysfunction were included. This study evaluated female sexual function and its components, including satisfaction, discomfort, lubrication, arousal, climax, desire, and assertiveness. We used Review Manager version 5.3 for performing the meta-analysis. P values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: Seven articles including a total of 448 women with sexual dysfunction were reviewed. The participants' mean age in the CBT groups was 33.43 ± 6.04 years and that of the control group was 33.24 ± 5.97, which were not significantly different. Our results indicated that CBT is efficient in improving the total score of women's sexual function (SMD = 1.34, 95% CI = (1.02, 1.65), I2 = 86%), sexual satisfaction, lubrication, desire, orgasm, and assertiveness compared with the control group. However, CBT had no positive effect on reducing sexual pain. Conclusion: Based on the result of the current study, CBT can be suggested as an effective treatment method along with other treatments for women with sexual problems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sexual behaviors play a role in the social construction of masculinity. Moreover, this stereotype has been capitalized upon by pharmaceutical companies, as well as those that sell products not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, for purposes of marketing sexual medicines. Stereotypical notions of masculinity, however, also emphasize the importance of self-reliance, which may cause some to look unfavorably upon the use of sexual medicine. Consistent with this notion, a male target was viewed as more masculine when his female partner consistently reached orgasm, unless he had no history of erectile dysfunction (ED), but was taking Viagra anyway (Experiment 1; N = 522). In addition, when his partner consistently reached orgasm, ratings of his sexual esteem were also lower if he used Viagra than if he did not, but only if he had no history of ED. In Experiment 2 (N = 711), although there was no effect of a male target's use of testosterone, social perception of his masculinity and sexual esteem increased as his "natural" levels of testosterone increased. In addition, exploratory analysis revealed that if the male target had low (but not normal or high) "natural" levels of testosterone, ratings of his masculinity were higher if his female partner consistently had an orgasm, which suggests that female orgasm served to "rescue" masculinity. Because expectations about drugs drive their use, it is important to address preconceived notions about the use of sexual medicines for purposes of enhancing masculinity and sexual esteem, as the social perception of their use is much more complex. In the context of evolving perceptions of sexuality, particularly within the realm of health and disability, this study investigates the impact of multiple sclerosis (MS) on female sexual function and quality of life. A quantitative study involving 130 female MS patients aged 35 to 50 was conducted, employing measures such as The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), The Multiple Sclerosis Intimacy and Sexuality Questionnaire-19 (MSISQ-19), and The Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS). Results indicate a significant association between greater sexual dysfunction and poorer quality of sex life, alongside the correlation of increased fatigue with diminished sexual satisfaction. Specifically, the mean FSFI score was 20.8 (SD = 9.36), with 83.8% of participants experiencing severe fatigue (FSS score ≥ 36). Sexual dysfunction demonstrated a strong, negative correlation with all FSFI subscales (p < 0.01). This review aimed to investigate the effect of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) on sexual performance and sexual self-efficacy of postpartum women. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using electronic databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar to identify relevant studies published between 2016 and 2023. The quality assessment of the selected studies was performed using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) tool. Data extraction and synthesis were conducted to summarize the results of the included studies. A total of 12 studies were included in this systematic review. The studies selected for this review were interventional (n = 9) and review studies (n = 3). Quality assessment in most studies showed medium to high quality. The results demonstrated that MBCT interventions have a positive effect on the sexual performance and sexual self-efficacy of postpartum women. Improvements in libido, arousal, psychosis, orgasm and overall sexual satisfaction were reported after MBCT intervention. Moreover, the interventions increased postpartum women's self-efficacy in sexual relationships and communication. The results also showed that MBCT interventions have a promising effect on improving sexual performance and sexual self-efficacy in postpartum women. Addressing calls for increased communication scholarship that interrogates power in stigma processes, we develop a critical postmodern approach to stigma management communication (SMC) theory and demonstrate how it can be used in the context of difficulty orgasming. Semi-structured interviews with mostly white, cisgender women experiencing orgasm difficulties in mixed-sex relationships (N = 31) revealed how dominant discourse creates an idealized standard of sexual behavior that stigmatizes women with orgasm difficulties, and how stigma management strategies act as discursive practices that reify, resist, and transform the status quo. We extend SMC theory by articulating a critical postmodern approach that can be used to interrogate power in stigma processes, and by illuminating how stigma management strategies are enacted in varied ways and toward different ends. Practically, our findings underscore the need for multifaceted interventions aimed at addressing the underlying causes of stigma and offer recommendations for reducing stigma through health campaigns, programming, and care. We explored the unique roles that body and genital image play in behavior-specific orgasm consistency, beyond overall sexual self-esteem. US adults (N = 599; 64% women) completed questionnaires online. Hierarchical regression analyses predicted orgasm consistency during receptive oral sex and penile-vaginal intercourse (PVI) with additional clitoral stimulation (WAS) and with no additional clitoral stimulation (NAS) for the woman. Body image, genital image, and gender were entered in later steps to assess model improvement above sexual self-esteem. Models accounted for age, sexual and racial minority identities, and current relationship status. Results indicated that genital image improved all models and predicted higher orgasm consistency across all behaviors for men and women. For orgasm during receptive oral sex and PVI–NAS, sexual self-esteem was no longer significant once genital image was included. Genital image was a stronger predictor of women's versus men's orgasm during PVI–NAS; no significant gender differences were found for oral sex and PVI–WAS. Body image was not significant in any models, contrary to expectations, suggesting role overlap with sexual self-esteem. Background Research demonstrates significant gender- and sexual orientation–based differences in orgasm rates from sexual intercourse; however, this "orgasm gap" has not been studied with respect to age. Aim The study sought to examine age-related disparities in orgasm rates from sexual intercourse by gender and sexual orientation. Methods A survey sample of 24 752 adults from the United States, ranging in age from 18 to 100 years. Data were collected across 8 cross-sectional surveys between 2015 and 2023. Outcomes Participants reported their average rate of orgasm during sexual intercourse, from 0% to 100%. Results Orgasm rate was associated with age but with minimal effect size. In all age groups, men reported higher rates of orgasm than did women. Men's orgasm rates ranged from 70% to 85%, while women's ranged from 46% to 58%. Men reported orgasm rates between 22% and 30% higher than women's rates. Sexual orientation impacted orgasm rates by gender but not uniformly across age groups. Clinical Translation The persistence of the orgasm gap across ages necessitates a tailored approach in clinical practice and education, focusing on inclusive sexual health discussions, addressing the unique challenges of sexual minorities and aging, and emphasizing mutual satisfaction to promote sexual well-being for all. Strengths and Limitations This study is the first to examine the orgasm gap with respect to age, and does so in a large, diverse sample. Findings are limited by methodology, including single-item assessments of orgasm and a sample of single adults. Conclusion This study revealed enduring disparities in orgasm rates from sexual intercourse, likely resulting from many factors, including sociocultural norms and inadequate sex education. The purpose of this research is to examine the cognitive schemas activated in sexual situations as mediating factors in the relationship between endometriosis symptoms and sexual distress. N=173 women diagnosed with endometriosis, who had a sexually active status during data collection, took part in the research. The survey consisted of a demographic data sheet, the ENDOPAIN-4D, the Questionnaire of Cognitive Schema Activation in Sexual Context and the Female Sexual Distress Scale - Desire/Arousal/Orgasm questionnaires. The results of the Structural Equation Modeling technique indicate that the mediation model does not show a good model fit with our data. We do not see this explanatory power regarding the relationship between pelvic pain and sexual distress sexual, or between bowel pain and sexual distress. Based on the complex indirect effect, maladaptive cognitive schemas mediate the relationship between pain during sexual intercourse and sexual distress, as well as the relationship between other symptoms of endometriosis and sexual distress. Background: Modifying the maternal immune system is necessary to facilitate embryo implantation. Modifying the immune system can occur in several ways, including maternal exposure to the partner’s seminal plasma. Seminal plasma exposure can occur through sexual intercourse. To prove this theory, we investigate the effect of sexual intercourse on the chances of successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) in both fresh and frozen embryo transfer (ET) groups in terms of biochemical and clinical pregnancy. Methods: This is an observational analytical study with a retrospective cohort study design. This study compared biochemical and clinical pregnancy in patient groups who had sexual intercourse with those who did not have sexual intercourse during the IVF process. This study involved 132 participants. Results: The results of this study reported that there was no significant difference in pregnancy rates between patients who had sex before ET and those who did not have sex before ET. However, patients who experience orgasm during sex show significant rates of biochemical (p = 0.009) and clinical pregnancy (p = 0.027) rates. Conclusions: Sexual intercourse did not show a significant difference between the groups who had sex before ET and those who did not have sex, but the experience of orgasm every time they had sex recently had a positive impact on reproductive health, especially pregnancy.

Introduction: The use of narcotic and stimulant substances has become an important and challenging social issue due to its adverse effects and negative consequences for society and the entire family system. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sexual satisfaction, quality of life, and marital conflicts in patients addicted to Methamphetamine.Methods: The research employed a descriptive-correlational method. The study’s statistical population comprised all individuals addicted to stimulants who were referred to Shiraz Psychiatric Hospital in September 1400. According to Morgan’s table, a sample of 80 individuals was selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Larson Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire, the Frenz and Power Quality of Life Questionnaire, and the Sanaei Marital Conflict Questionnaire. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using Pearson’s correlation method.Results: The results showed a significant positive correlation between sexual satisfaction and quality of life, including its various aspects. This suggests that an increase in sexual satisfaction is associated with an enhancement in the quality of life. Conversely, the study found a significant negative correlation between sexual satisfaction and marital conflict along with its components. This indicates that an increase in sexual satisfaction by one unit results in a decrease in marital conflicts by approximately 0.478 units.Conclusion: The study’s findings support the idea that enhancing sexual satisfaction can potentially improve one’s quality of life. This improvement, in turn, can contribute to a reduction in marital conflicts in various ways.

Aim This study aims to examine the relationship between male genital self-perception and sexual functioning and depression anxieties.Method The study included male patients who were referred to the andrology outpatient clinic between March 2022 and June 2022. Demographic data of the patients were recorded. Cigarette and alcohol consumption was also noted. The Male Genital Self Image Scale (MGSIS) questionnaire was used for the Genital Self Image(GSI) assessment, which consists of 7 questions. The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), composed of 15 questions, was used to evaluate sexual function. STAI-I, STAI-II, and BECK scales were used for depression and anxiety. The penis size of the patients was measured in a flask and stretched condition, and the midpenile circumference was recorded. Patients were compared with respect to GSI, depression, anxiety, and sexual functioning.Results A total of 75 patients were included in the study. The mean age of the patients was 46.69 ± 11.32 (26–72), and the mean BMI was 27.82 ± 3.79 (22.46–40.40) kg/m2. A slightly positive correlation was found between the patients’ flask penis size and MGSIS-total scores (r = 0.260, p = .024) and IIEF-SF scores (r = 0.240, p = .038). Vaginal squirting is a phenomenon in which women expel fluid during the sexual response process, but it remains poorly understood in the extant literature. The study purpose was to use nationally representative data to investigate adult women's experiences with vaginal squirting. We assessed the prevalence of women who have ever squirted in their lifetime, the level of pleasure and concurrency of orgasm women reported during squirting, the ways in which women discovered squirting, and the challenges and/or concerns women experience with squirting. Forty percent of U.S. adult women (M = 47.6 years, SD = 16.8; Md = 24 years) had ever squirted in their lifetime (Md frequency = three to five times). Two thirds of women reported unintentional discovery of squirting, and most (75%) used specific techniques to promote build up and release of squirting versus squirting spontaneously. About 60% of participants reported squirting to be very or somewhat pleasurable, but only 20% "always" experienced squirting and orgasm together. Women reported different challenges with squirting, such as the time required to reach squirting or the experience being too emotionally intense. Our findings contribute to the growth of much needed, detailed literature on the ways in which women discover and enjoy squirting as part of their sexual lives. Existing literature on "faking" orgasm focuses almost exclusively on women. Limited research exists among men, and none focuses on sexual minority (e.g., gay, bisexual, queer) men. Additionally, faking satisfaction (pretending to be sexually satisfied) remains an unknown concept. This study examined the occurrence, frequency, and correlates of faking orgasm and satisfaction in sexual minority men. Participants (N = 211, age = 18–53, 59% identified as gay) responded to an online survey assessing frequencies of faking orgasm and satisfaction as well as potential correlates of faking (age, relationship status, sexual frequency, orgasm frequency, internalized sexual stigma). Results showed that faking orgasm and faking satisfaction were highly prevalent among sexual minority men in this sample (83% had faked orgasm and 88% had faked satisfaction in the past two years). The frequency of faking was also high; 62% and 68% faked orgasm and satisfaction at least "sometimes." Higher internalized sexual stigma and lower orgasm frequency were associated with higher frequencies of faking orgasm and satisfaction. For faking orgasm, however, the relationship between internalized sexual stigma and faking only existed in gay men. The purpose of this study was to expand the empirical research on Black women's sexualities by exploring differences in heterosexual and queer Black women's sexual experiences including sexual pleasure, orgasms, masturbation, number of sex partners, and sexual desire through a Black queer feminist lens. This study used survey data from n = 295 Black cisgender women from phase one of the triphasic Big Sex Study. Results showed that Black queer women had more sexual partners and reported masturbating at earlier ages compared to heterosexual women. Black queer women also reported higher pleasure ratings in sexual activities, sexual intimacy, and sexual intercourse. Finally, there were differences in correlates of sexual desire between heterosexual and queer women; however, no factors were correlated with desire to engage in sexual intercourse for power and control for both groups of women. Implications for advancing sex positive research on sexually diverse Black women are included. Black women's sexology has often focused on sexual risks and heterosexual women. This study focuses on sex positive aspects including sexual pleasure, orgasms, and desire among Black heterosexual and queer women. The present study describes a mixed-methods approach to studying gendered attributions made in response to orgasm non-occurrence during sexual encounters with a partner. The study employed a concurrent nested mixed-methods design with primary data, which nested a quantitative analysis within a more extensive qualitative analysis (n = 390). Two qualitative questions regarding both the participant and their partner's attributed reasons for being unable to orgasm were coded and analyzed thematically. These responses were then quantitized into dichotomous variables used as predictors of sexual satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, and orgasm frequency in a multiple regression analysis. Results of the study indicated that medical/health and technique/setting attributions were the most frequent reasons participants and their partners did not orgasm. Furthermore, relational attributions were negatively associated with sexual and relationship satisfaction in women. Finally, not knowing to what cause orgasm non-occurrence should be attributed was also negatively associated with sexual and relationship satisfaction in women and orgasm frequency in both men and women. Implications for clinicians and further research are discussed. As state-of-art technology can create artificial images that are indistinguishable from real ones, it is urgent to understand whether believing that a picture is real or not has some import over affective phenomena such as sexual arousal. Thus, in two pre-registered online studies, we tested whether 60 images depicting models in underwear elicited higher self-reported sexual arousal when believed to be (N = 57) or presented as (N = 108) real photographs as opposed to artificially generated. In both cases, Realness correlated with significantly higher scores on self-reported sexual arousal. Consistently with the literature on downregulation of emotional response to fictional works, our result indicates that sexual images that are perceived to be fake are less arousing than those believed to portray real people. Background and Aim: Orgasm is the peak of sexual arousal or behavior, whenever the peak of satisfaction is attained. Sexual satisfaction refers to the subjective experience of pleasure, contentment, and fulfillment related to one's sexual activities and relationships and intimacy is the heart and soul of a close relationship. India is a diverse country with unique cultural, social, and economic factors that can impact women's experiences in terms of intimacy and sexual satisfaction. The aim is to find out the relationship between orgasm in sexual satisfaction and intimacy among females in India. Materials and Methods: A descriptive research design is used for the present study. Through simple random sampling, 128 females who were married, people who can understand English, and who provided informed consent were selected for the study. The study was conducted from April 2022 to March 2023. The 20-item New Sexual Satisfaction Scale and the 36-item personal assessment of intimacy in relationships, and a semi-structured interview schedule were administered. Data were statistically analyzed using the statistical package for social services software, Version 26.0. A simple percentage analysis was used. The correlation was calculated for the variables. The Pearson correlation method was used to find the relationship between variables. A one-way ANOVA was employed to find out the significant mean difference between the demographic variables with a 95% confidence level, and P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The result reveals that there is a relationship between intimacy and sexual satisfaction. Researchers found that there is a significant difference between sexual satisfaction and age, educational qualification, family type, place of living, and orgasm. Conclusion: There exists a positive correlation between intimacy and sexual satisfaction. Tickling is commonly perceived as juvenile play associated with laughter. However, its potential connection to adult sexual behavior has largely remained unexplored. Our online survey, primarily distributed among individuals interested in tickle fetishism, explored tickling and its association with sexual behavior. Ticklishness types, tools, preferred body parts, and partner preferences, were examined. Results revealed diverse patterns of ticklishness changes over time and distinct body-part preferences for different types of tickling. Childhood experiences and exposure to tickling content in television were found to shape individuals’ affinity for tickle fetishism. A quarter of respondents reported experiencing orgasms exclusively from tickling, while around 88% expressed sexual satisfaction through tickling alone, indicating its sufficiency as a sexual stimulus among fetishists. Tickling desire decreased after orgasm, indicating an association between tickling and sexual activity. Moreover, ticklishness degree predicted preferences for being tickled rather than tickling others. Exploratory factor analysis identified three factors underlying tickling and sexual experiences: enjoyment and frequency of tickling during sexual activity; preference for intense sexual experiences; age of becoming sexually active. In conclusion, this study provides unique insights into tickling and its connections to sexual context, enhancing our understanding of diverse human sexual behavior and tickle fetishism as a distinct preference. Previous research suggests that experiencing disgust in sexual contexts may negatively impact sexual satisfaction and functioning. However, little is known about the mechanisms (e.g., sexual anxiety) that influence or underlie sex-related disgust. Additionally, immersive tendencies may play a role in shaping emotional experiences when presented with sexual cues. Recent technological advancements, especially in virtual reality (VR), offer a promising avenue to explore emotions in simulated intimate and sexual interactions. This study aimed to examine the influence of sexual anxiety and immersive tendencies on reported levels of disgust when exposed to virtual erotica. A sample of 59 participants (≥ 18 years) completed self-report questionnaires of sexual anxiety and immersive tendencies. Levels of disgust were assessed during exposure to synthetic virtual characters engaging in erotic behaviours of increasing intensity across six scenarios, ranging from flirting to nudity, masturbation, and orgasm. Linear mixed models were performed on observed data. Higher levels of sexual anxiety were significantly associated with increased disgust throughout the immersive experience (β = 0.48), while greater immersive tendencies were significantly linked to lower disgust ratings (β = −0.66). Additionally, disgust ratings significantly increased with the intensity of the virtual sexual stimuli (β = 0.48). Rationale: Cabergoline (CAB) is an ergot derivative typically prescribed for the treatment of hyperprolactinemia. It suppresses the release of prolactin through agonist actions on dopamine (DA) D2 receptors; however, it possesses binding affinity for other DA and 5-HT receptors. Side effects that exacerbate valvular heart disease can occur with high doses. Objective: The present study examined the acute, subchronic, and chronic dose–response effects of CAB and a derivative dimethylcabergoline (DMC) which acts as an antagonist instead of agonist at 5-HT 2B receptors, on appetitive and consummatory sexual behaviors of male rats. Methods: CAB (0, 0.03, 0.15, or 0.3 mg/kg/ml) was administered daily to sexually experienced male rats (N = 10/dose) by oral gavage for a total of 68 days. Sexual behavior was tested every 4 days during this period for a total of 16 trials. On the 17th trial, rats were administered their dose of CAB, and 4 h after were overdosed with sodium pentobarbital, perfused intracardially, and their brains processed for Fos immunohistochemistry. DMC (0, 0.03, 0.15, 0.3 mg/kg/ml) was administered daily to sexually experienced male rats (N = 10/dose) by oral gavage for a total of 36 days. Sexual behavior was tested every 4 days for a total of 9 trials. Results: CAB increased anticipatory level changes, intromissions, and ejaculations significantly across all timepoints, with the medium and high doses being most potent. The medium and high doses also increased Fos protein significantly within the medial preoptic area, whereas in the nucleus accumbens shell, the low and medium doses decreased Fos protein but the high dose increased it significantly from control. Similar to CAB, the medium and high doses of DMC increased the number of ejaculations significantly. Rats in all drug dose groups appeared healthy for the duration of the experiments. Conclusions: Both CAB and DMC facilitate ejaculations, and CAB further facilitates measures of anticipatory sexual motivation and intromissions. Subjective orgasm experience (SOE) is a component of sexual health that refers to the perception, sensation and/or appraisal of orgasm at a psychological level. This construct has scarcely been studied in non-heterosexual individuals and couples, and never before from a dyadic perspective. In this study, in which 104 same-sex Hispanic couples participated (48 male-male and 56 female-female), we explored the dyadic influence of SOE dimensions on sexual satisfaction, the mediating role of relationship satisfaction on the association of both phases of sexual response, as well as the explanatory capacity that discrepancies in these dimensions had on sexual satisfaction. The results indicated that the orgasmic dimensions that gained more prominence were Affective and Sensory. A dyadic influence of both on sexual satisfaction was observed only in male couples, as well as a detriment of sexual satisfaction when there were discrepancies in them, especially in women. Moreover, relationship satisfaction was a significant mediator between all dimensions of SOE and sexual satisfaction in both types of couples. This work highlights the need to take into account the SOE of both partners and how this individual experience can affect other dimensions of a more interpersonal nature, such as sexual or relationship satisfaction. Background: Up to 41% of women face challenges achieving orgasm, a statistic unchanged for 50 years. Aim: To evaluate the effect of cannabis use before partnered sex on women with and without difficulty achieving orgasm. Methods: This observational study evaluated responses from female study participants relating to their demographics, sexual activities, mental well-being, cannabis usage, and orgasm-related questions from the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Outcomes: Outcomes included orgasm frequency, difficulty, and satisfaction related to cannabis use or lack of use before partnered sex, largely based on the FSFI orgasm subscale. Results: Of the 1037 survey responses, 410 were valid and complete. Twenty-three surveys (5.6% returned) were excluded due to failure to meet the study's criteria. Of the valid surveys, most women (52%, n = 202) reported difficulty achieving orgasm during sexual activity with a partner. These women were primarily between 25 and 34 years of age (45%, n = 91); 75% identified their race as White (n = 152/202); 52% (n = 105) identified as LGBTQI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, or other); and 82% (n = 165) were married or in a relationship. Among participants who experienced challenges in achieving orgasm, 72.8% (n = 147, P < .001) reported that cannabis use before partnered sex increased orgasm frequency, 67% stated that it improved orgasm satisfaction (n = 136, P < .001), and 71% indicated that cannabis use made orgasm easier (n = 143, P < .001). The frequency of cannabis use before partnered sex correlated with increased orgasm frequency for women who experienced difficulties achieving orgasm (n = 202, P < .001). The reasons for cannabis use before partnered sex resulted in a more positive orgasm response (n = 202, P = .22). Clinical Implications: Cannabis may be a treatment for women with difficulty achieving orgasm during partnered sex. Strengths and Limitations: The researchers examined the challenge of achieving orgasm and considered the covariates reported in the literature, including the FSFI orgasm subscale. The findings may not be generalizable to women who rarely or never use cannabis before sex, women who have never experienced an orgasm, or women who do not have female genitalia. Additionally, the specific type of cannabis used, its chemical composition, the quantity used, and whether or not the partner used cannabis were not assessed in this study. Background: Orgasmic phase disorders in men worsen the burden of erectile dysfunction on sexual satisfaction. Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of and predictors of unreported orgasmic phase disorder in a cohort of men looking for their first urological assessment for new‐onset erectile dysfunction in a real‐life setting. Materials and methods: Data from 1107 heterosexual, sexually active men consecutively assessed for new‐onset erectile dysfunction were analysed. Throughout a comprehensive medical and sexual history, all patients were asked to self‐report any orgasmic phase disorder and to complete the International Index of Erectile Function and the Beck's Inventory for Depression (depressive symptoms scored as Beck's Inventory for Depression ≥11). Men self‐reporting orgasmic phase disorder during the interview were excluded from further analyses. The median value of the International Index of Erectile Function‐orgasmic function domain was arbitrarily used to categorise men with (International Index of Erectile Function‐orgasmic function ≤5) and without unreported orgasmic phase disorder (International Index of Erectile Function‐orgasmic function >5). Circulating hormones were measured in every patient. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression models were used to test the association between clinical variables and unreported orgasmic phase disorder. Results: Of 1098 patients with non‐self‐reporting orgasmic phase disorder, 314 (28.6%) had International Index of Erectile Function‐orgasmic function ≤5. Patients with erectile dysfunction + unreported orgasmic phase disorder were older (median [interquartile range]: 58 [44–66] years vs. 51 [40–60] years), had higher body mass index [25.8 (23.7–28.1) kg/m2 vs. 25.2 (23.3–27.4) kg/m2], higher prevalence of type 2 diabetes (36 [11.5%] vs. 45 [5.7%]) and lower International Index of Erectile Function‐erectile function scores (6 [2–10] vs. 18 [11–24]) than men with erectile dysfunction‐only (all p < 0.05). Patients with erectile dysfunction + unreported orgasmic phase disorder depicted higher rates of severe erectile dysfunction (75.5% vs. 25%) and Beck's Inventory for Depression ≥11 (22.6% vs. 17.9%) (all p < 0.05). In the multivariable logistic regression analysis, older age (odds ratio: 1.02) and lower International Index of Erectile Function‐erectile function scores (odds ratio: 0.83) were independently associated with unreported orgasmic phase disorder (all p < 0.05). Conclusions: Almost one in three men seeking first medical help for erectile dysfunction depicted criteria suggestive of unreported orgasmic phase disorder. Men with unreported orgasmic phase disorder were older and had higher rates of severe erectile dysfunction and concomitant depressive symptoms. These real‐life findings outline the clinical relevance of a comprehensive investigation of concomitant sexual dysfunction in men only complaining of erectile dysfunction to more effectively tailor patient management. The subjective orgasm experience (SOE) refers to its perception and/or assessment from a psychological viewpoint. Few works have approached this construct from a qualitative perspective and have never taken a consolidated theoretical model as a reference. This study aims to provide qualitative validity evidence to the Multidimensional Model of Subjective Orgasmic Experience, derived from the Orgasm Rating Scale (ORS), to qualitatively address SOE in the contexts of sexual relationships and solitary masturbation, analyzing the terms self-generated by individuals and examining the coincidence with the semantic descriptions of orgasm proposed by the ORS. Four hundred Spanish adults aged 18 to 64 years participated. The Technique of Free Association of Words was applied, and prototypical, frequency, and similitude analyses were performed. A similar description was observed concerning the terms generated in both contexts, with a higher frequency and intensity in the context of sexual relationships. In the context of solitary masturbation, negative orgasmic descriptions were evoked. Participants were able to elicit the vast majority of ORS adjectives, with Affective being the most notable dimension, followed closely by Rewards, especially in masturbation. Most of the adjectives were evoked simultaneously with those of the Affective, with "pleasurable" standing out as the most predominant one. This work provides qualitative evidence to the SOE study, ratifying the semantic composition of the ORS and thus endorsing the Multidimensional Model of Subjective Orgasmic Experience as a good theoretical model from which to continue studying the subjective orgasmic experience. Background: Subjective orgasm experience (SOE) refers to the perception, assessment, and/or sensation of orgasm on a psychological level, with the particularity that the study of SOE in nonheterosexual populations is currently very scarce. Aim: The study sought to analyze differences in SOE dimensions, comparing the intensity of each adjective of the Orgasm Rating Scale (ORS) and creating a ranking of the adjectives that better represent it in LGB men and women. Methods: In a sample of 1475 adults organized into 4 groups according to the type of sexual relationships reported, comparisons were made using multivariate analysis of variance and chi-square tests. Outcomes: Differences were obtained in the intensity of all the SOE dimensions, and in 23 of the 25 ORS adjectives. Results: Lesbians and bisexual women reported higher intensity in SOE compared with bisexual and gay men. Clinical Implications: Because the ORS has been established as a good tool for detecting orgasmic difficulties in nonheterosexual populations, this study could provide LGBT affirmative psychotherapy with evidence on how these individuals evaluate their orgasms in a relational context. Strengths and Limitations: This study extends prior limited knowledge about how LGB people evaluate their orgasmic experiences in the context of sexual relationships. Despite this, the study poses limitations such as nonprobability sampling or the inclusion of exclusively cisgender and young individuals, making it difficult to generalize the results. Introduction: The pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) have been suggested to play a key role in sexual function and response in women. However, syntheses of the evidence thus far have been limited to interventional studies in women with pelvic pain or pelvic floor disorders, and these studies have failed to fully capture the involvement of the PFMs in a broader population. Aim: We sought to appraise the evidence regarding the role of the PFMs in sexual function/response in women without pelvic pain or pelvic floor disorders. More specifically, we examined the following: (1) effects of treatment modalities targeting the PFMs on sexual function/response, (2) associations between PFM function and sexual function/response, and (3) differences in PFM function between women with and those without sexual dysfunction. Methods: We searched for all available studies in eight electronic databases. We included interventional studies evaluating the effects of PFM modalities on sexual outcomes, as well as observational studies investigating the association between PFM function and sexual outcomes or the differences in PFM function in women with and those without sexual dysfunction. The quality of each study was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Estimates were pooled using random-effects meta-analyses whenever possible, or a narrative synthesis of the results was provided. Main outcomes: The main outcomes were sexual function (based on a questionnaire)/sexual response (based on physiological test), and PFM function (assessment of the PFM parameters such as strength and tone based on various methods). Results: A total of 33 studies were selected, including 14 interventional and 19 observational studies, most of which (31/33) were deemed of moderate or high quality. Ten out of 14 interventional studies in women with and without sexual dysfunctions showed that PFM modalities had a significant effect on sexual function. Regarding the observational studies, a meta-analysis revealed a significant moderate association between PFM strength and sexual function (r = 0.41; 95% CI, 0.08-066). Of the 7 observational studies performed to assess sexual response, all showed that the PFMs were involved in arousal or orgasm. Conflicting results were found in the 3 studies that evaluated differences in PFM function in women with and those without sexual dysfunction. Clinical implications: Our results highlight the contribution of the PFMs in sexual function/response. Strengths and limitations: One strength of this review is the inclusion of a broad range of study designs and outcomes, allowing a thorough synthesis of evidence. However, interpretations of these data should consider risk of bias in the studies, small sample sizes, and the absence of control/comparison groups. Conclusion: The findings of this review support the involvement of the PFMs in sexual function/response in women without pelvic pain or pelvic dysfunction. Sexual cognitions are an important aspect of sexual well-being for all individuals; however, little is known about the sexual cognitions of autistic individuals. Therefore, our study aimed to explore the diversity, content, and frequencies of positive (PSC) and negative (NSC) sexual cognitions in this population. A total of 332 participants (57.5% women; 42.5% men) between the ages of 21 and 73 (M = 37.72, SD = 11.15) completed an online survey. Our results showed that almost all participants had experienced both positive and negative sexual cognitions. PSC were more diverse and experienced with greater frequency than NSC. In addition, gender (self-identified as being male) and having had relationship experience were associated with greater diversity and frequency of PSC, but not NSC. In terms of content, the most common experienced sexual cognitions for both men and women were intimacy-related. The men experienced 22 of the 56 PSC and 3 of the 56 NSC significantly more frequently than did the women; there were no cognitions that the women experienced more frequently than the men. A comparison to the results of studies of sexual cognitions among neurotypical individuals suggests that autistic individuals experience sexual cognitions in much the same way as their peers. However, sexual cognitions occur slightly less frequently and are somewhat less diverse. The aim of current study was to examine the sexual quality of life and problems of women with gynecological cancer in a Turkish Muslim population to evaluate them according to their treatment modalities. This study was conducted on 350 women who voluntarily accepted to participate in the study and were treated for gynecological cancer. Patients; who are aged from 18 to 65 years, have partners, sexually active, completed first treatment, not in the terminal period, without neurological and psychiatric disorders were included in the study. The research data were collected by using the descriptive characteristics form and Sexual Quality of Life Scale-Female (SQOLS-F). The quality of sexual life of women with gynecological cancer was very low (34.1 ± 10.2). The sexual quality of life of women with gynecological cancer differed according to the treatment methods and cancer types. Sexual quality of life was higher in those who received surgical treatment than those who received radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment. In addition, pathological symptoms were observed more intensely, especially in the chemotherapy group. Many primates produce copulation calls, but we have surprisingly little data on what human sex sounds like. I present 34 h of audio recordings from 2239 authentic sexual episodes shared online. These include partnered sex or masturbation, but each recording has only one main vocalizer (1950 female, 289 male). Both acoustic features and arousal ratings from an online perceptual experiment with 109 listeners recruited on Prolific follow an inverted-U curve, revealing the likely time of orgasm. Sexual vocalizations become longer, louder, more high-pitched, voiced, and unpredictable at orgasm in both men and women. Men are not less vocal overall in this sample, but women start moaning at an earlier stage; speech or even minimally verbalized exclamations are uncommon. While excessive vocalizing sounds inauthentic to listeners, vocal bursts at peak arousal are ubiquitous and less verbalized than in the build-up phase, suggesting limited volitional control. Human sexual vocalizations likely include both consciously controlled and spontaneous moans of pleasure, which are perhaps best understood as sounds of liking rather than signals specific to copulation. Sexuality in cancer patients is a complex area. It is estimated that 81% of patients with urological cancer develop problems in their sexual functionality, even from the moment of diagnosis and aggravated during treatment due to direct injury to the genitalia. Currently, there are few avenues of care within the field of urology that address sexual health and quality of sexual life in penile cancer survivors, which causes many of them to lose self‐esteem and have problems with their partners. To review the literature on what are the consequences on the sexual life of penile cancer survivors in terms of their performance, including risk factors associated with penile cancer and what are the alternatives they must recover their sexual life. Most penile cancer survivors develop alterations in sexual performance and functionality, such as loss of sexual interest, dysfunctional ejaculation, and loss of orgasm, increasing the risk of depression and anxiety. Sex therapy is presented as an alternative to improve the quality of life of these patients, proposing sexuality as something more than genitalia and helping to lead a better life. Sex therapy is an alternative and should be contemplated in the therapeutic plan of patients with urological cancer, especially penile cancer, since sexuality is part of an individual's life, and its loss affects the quality of life.
