Background: Women with higher body mass index report low rates of and face unique barriers to exercise. Increasing exercise participation can improve mental and physical health independent of weight loss; however, most exercise programs targeting this population focus predominately on losing weight. This paper aims to describe the development of Fit&Fab, a community-based exercise intervention focused on increasing exercise participation and enjoyment for women with obesity. Methods: In partnership with the YMCA, we recruited women ages 35–64 years (body mass index ≥ 30) to participate in 4 focus groups to understand exercise preferences. Formative work was used to identify theory constructs and associated intervention components. Women from the focus groups were recruited for a community advisory board that finalized the intervention design, recruitment, and evaluation plan. Results: Focus groups participants (N = 29) preferred to exercise without men and wanted a cohort-style class that included women of similar exercise levels and body types, incorporated social support, fun activities, and broke exercise into smaller bouts. They wanted a supportive instructor who was fit but understood weight-related challenges. The community advisory board and research team used focus group findings to inform design of the final intervention including group exercise classes, psychosocial support sessions, personalized training, exercise tracking, outcome monitoring, and rewards. Conclusions: Our findings emphasize the need to focus on exercise enjoyment and benefits other than losing weight to improve exercise participation among women with higher body mass index. Purpose: Investigate whether obesity risk and current weight status are independently associated with physical activity (PA) and whether PA is associated with adiposity and insulin resistance (homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance) among children with high versus low obesity risk based on in utero exposure to maternal overweight/obesity with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM; high risk) or without GDM (overweight/obesity; high risk) or maternal normal weight without GDM (low risk). Method: Secondary analysis of data from children born to women with overweight/obesity and GDM, overweight/obesity without GDM, or normal weight without GDM. PA was assessed with accelerometry, percentage of body fat derived from anthropometrics, and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance calculated from glucose and insulin. Results: Among 4- to 10-year-old children (N = 163), analyses of covariance showed that children with a current BMI ≥85th percentile had less vigorous PA than those with BMI <85th percentile, but in utero exposure was not an independent predictor of PA. In linear regression modeling, moderate to vigorous PA was inversely associated with percentage of body fat and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance independent of age, Tanner stage, and accelerometer wear time, with stronger associations in high-risk groups. Conclusions: Children's PA is related to current weight status but not underlying risk for obesity but may be especially important to reduce obesity and insulin resistance in high-risk children. Background: In the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) randomized trial, dietary intervention significantly reduced breast cancer mortality, especially in women with more metabolic syndrome (MetS) components. Therefore, this study investigated the associations of MetS and obesity with postmenopausal breast cancer after long‐term follow‐up in the WHI clinical trials. Methods: A total of 68,132 postmenopausal women, without prior breast cancer and with normal mammogram, were entered into WHI randomized clinical trials; 63,330 women with an entry MetS score comprised the study population. At entry, body mass index (BMI) was determined; MetS score (0, 1–2, and 3–4) included the following: (1) high waist circumference (≥88 cm), (2) high blood pressure (systolic ≥130 mm Hg and/or diastolic ≥85 mm Hg, or hypertension history), (3) high‐cholesterol history, and (4) diabetes history. Study outcomes included breast cancer incidence, breast cancer mortality, deaths after breast cancer, and results by hormone receptor status. Results: After a >20‐year mortality follow‐up, a higher MetS score (3–4), adjusted for BMI, was significantly associated with more poor prognosis, estrogen receptor (ER)–positive, progesterone receptor (PR)–negative cancers (p =.03), 53% more deaths after breast cancer (p <.001), and 44% higher breast cancer mortality (p =.03). Obesity status, adjusted for MetS score, was significantly associated with more good prognosis, ER‐positive, PR‐positive cancers (p <.001), more total breast cancers (p <.001), and more deaths after breast cancer (p <.001), with higher breast cancer mortality only in women with severe obesity (BMI, ≥35 kg/m2; p <.001). Conclusions: MetS and obesity status have independent, but differential, adverse associations with breast cancer receptor subtypes and breast cancer mortality risk. Both represent separate targets for breast cancer prediction and prevention strategies. Purpose: Because obesity has not responded well to instructing affected adults in healthier eating behaviors and increased physical activity/exercise, enhanced research on psychosocial determinants of those behavioral changes is needed. Intervention foci on self-regulation have been suggested, but targeted research is required. Method: Women with obesity participated in community-based treatments that were either self-regulation-focused (self-regulation emphasis group; n = 52) or typical instruction-based (education [treatment-as-usual] group; n = 54). Results: There were overall significant increases in exercise-related self-regulation, physical activity/exercise, exercise-related self-efficacy, and eating-related self-regulation that were each significantly more pronounced in the self-regulation emphasis group. Increase in exercise-related self-regulation over 3 months predicted eating-related self-regulation over 6 months; however, sequential entry of changes in physical activity and exercise-related self-efficacy significantly mediated that relationship. However, only the path from changes in exercise-related self-regulation to exercise self-efficacy to eating-related self-regulation was significant. In a revised model where change in exercise self-efficacy was the sole mediator, treatment group did not significantly moderate the exercise self-regulation to eating self-regulation change relationship, but full mediation of that relationship occurred. Conclusion: Findings indicated salience for perceived ability/self-efficacy for physical activity, over actual physical activity progress, and its role in the transfer of self-regulatory skills from an exercise to eating context. Increased eating self-regulation significantly predicted weight loss over 6, 12, and 24 months. In the self-regulation emphasis group that translated to meaningful weight loss/weight-loss maintenance of greater than 5% of initial weight. We examined rural and urban prevalence and correlates of overweight/obesity among women of reproductive age using survey data from Nigeria. Overweight and obesity prevalence increased from 16.1% and 6.1% in 2008 to 18.2% and 10.0% in 2018, while underweight prevalence consistently averaged at 12%. Regardless of the residential setting, age, marital status, education, occupation, wealth, and year were associated with higher risk of overweight/obesity, whereas breastfeeding showed a protective effect. Unique risk factors for overweight/obesity in urban areas were higher parity and female-headed households, while ethnicity, media exposure, and state of residence were unique risk factors in rural areas. Purpose: Obesity is associated with subclinical impairments in cardiac function. Aerobic exercise has positive effects on cardiac-related parameters. However, different exercise intensities may elicit distinct acute responses, leading to chronic adaptations. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the acute effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) on left ventricle (LV) function in women with uncomplicated obesity. Methods: Fifteen women performed a bout of HIIT (4 × 4-min at 85–95% of HRmax), MICT (41-min at 65–75% of HRmax), and control condition (CO) (30-min sitting at rest). Data were collected immediately before, and five (t5) and 35 (t35) minutes after the performance of each condition. Results: Significant decreases in global longitudinal strain (GLS) (p = 0.010; p = 0.002), LV ejection fraction (LVEF) (p = 0.017; p = 0.010), LV end-diastolic volume (LVEDV) (p = 0.001; p = 0.048), stroke volume (SV) (p < 0.001; p = 0.013), early diastolic inflow velocity (E) (p = 0.001; p = 0.003) and E/A ratio (p = 0.001; p < 0.001) were observed for HIIT at t5 in relation to baseline and CO, respectively. However, GLS, LVEF, LVEDV, and E wave were reestablished near baseline values at t35. LV end-systolic volume decreased after HIIT in comparison to baseline at t5 (p = 0.050). GLS and E/A ratio decreased following HIIT at t5 compared to MICT (p = 0.013 and p = 0.027, respectively). Conclusion: A single bout of HIIT promoted transient reductions in LV function that were almost completely reestablished near baseline values 35 min after exercise cessation, not implying, therefore, any risk to HIIT performance by this population. Purpose: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between obesity and common mental disorders (CMD) among women. Methods: This is a cross-sectional population-based study with a representative sample of 981 adult women (20–60 years of age) living in the urban area of the municipality of São Leopoldo, RS, Brazil, in 2015. The presence of CMD was assessed using the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20 ≥ 8). Obesity was defined by body mass index (BMI ≥ 30.0 kg/m2). Prevalence ratios (PRs) for the association between obesity and CMD were measured by Poisson regression with robust variance, including their respective 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: The mean age of the sample was 40.3 years (standard deviation = 11.4 years). The prevalence of CMD was 33.7% (95% CI 30.8–36.7), while obesity was 31.2% (95% CI 28.3–34.1). The occurrence of CMD was higher in women with low levels of education and belonging to lower economic class, as well as smokers and those who were insufficiently active. Obesity was more prevalent in older women (50–60 years old) with less schooling, who did not consume alcohol, and those who were insufficiently active. After adjusting for potential confounding factors, women with obesity were 22% more likely to have CMD when compared to those without obesity (PR = 1.22; 95% CI 1.02–1.45; p = 0.030). Conclusions: This study demonstrated a significant association between obesity and the presence of CMD among women. Additionally, the prevalence of obesity and CMD were high in this population group. • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a frequent in pregnancy that may affect negatively maternal and fetal outcomes. • Limited diagnostic and screening tools restrict the practitioner ability to appropriately manage gestational OSA patients. • Current screening and treatment options are summarized, proposing a clinical approach for managing OSA in pregnancy. • Improved knowledge will allow the practitioner to better counsel toward mitigating the effects of OSA on mother and fetus. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a frequent condition during pregnancy and its occurrence is increased in obese women. There are growing concerns about both pre-existing OSA and the development of gestational OSA and their effect on maternal pregnancy outcomes, fetal development, and even early childhood. A strong body of research has revealed maternal complications of OSA, but far fewer studies explore its impact on the developing fetus, highlighting an important area of future research. As evidence in both areas mounts about the negative reproductive impact of OSA, studies have emerged that explore the limitations of current diagnostic criteria and screening tools for this disorder in pregnancy which, in turn, limit the practitioner's ability to appropriately refer patients for OSA diagnosis and treatment. This expert review summarizes the current data regarding OSA screening tools in pregnancy, the limitations of these tools, and available OSA treatments and their efficacies. Our objective is to develop recommendations for how to best screen and manage OSA in pregnancy. We conclude that improved understanding of available tools and treatments will allow the obstetric practitioner to better counsel patients and help mitigate the deleterious effects of OSA on mother and fetus. Objective: To evaluate vaginal delivery in obese women who underwent cervical ripening at term using a dinoprostone vaginal insert or a cervical ripening balloon (CRB), and to assess maternal and neonatal morbidity according to the method. Methods: A prospective cohort study including obese women with a live singleton fetus in cephalic presentation who required cervical ripening at term (≥37 weeks) for maternal and/or fetal disease using a dinoprostone vaginal insert or a CRB. The primary outcome was vaginal delivery. Secondary outcomes were a favorable cervix (Bishop score >6) after 24 h, the time from device insertion to delivery, and composite maternal and neonatal morbidity. Results: In total, 135 consecutive women were analyzed (107 CRB, 79.3%; 28 dinoprostone vaginal insert, 20.7%). Vaginal delivery (86 [80.4%] after CRB vs 19 [67.9%] after dinoprostone vaginal insert; P = 0.248), favorable cervix within 24 h after device placement (52 [48.6%] vs 17 [60.7%]; P = 0.264), and maternal morbidity (12 [11.2%] vs 4 [14.3%]; P = 0.646) were similar between the groups. The time from device insertion to delivery also did not differ between the groups. Neonatal morbidity was significantly higher after the dinoprostone vaginal insert (11 [39.3%] vs 20 [18.7%]; P = 0.030). Cervical ripening using the dinoprostone vaginal insert, compared with the CRB, was significantly associated with neonatal morbidity (adjusted odds ratio 4.00, 95% confidence interval 1.34–12.5), but not with maternal morbidity (adjusted odds ratio 1.23, 95% confidence interval 0.30–4.38). Conclusions: Vaginal delivery, a favorable cervix after 24 h, the time from device insertion to delivery, and maternal morbidity did not significantly differ between the CRB and the dinoprostone vaginal insert for cervical ripening in obese women at term. Nevertheless, neonatal morbidity was significantly associated with the dinoprostone vaginal insert, compared with the CRB, among obese women who required cervical ripening at term. Obese pregnant women are at increased risk of congenital fetal abnormalities, macrosomia, stillbirth, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus, preterm birth, and a number of other medical complications. The aim of the study is to investigate the social and health aspects of obesity in pregnant women. The methods that have been used are: documentary (studies of specialized manuals and normative documents), mathematical-statistical, proving the correlation between the overweight of pregnant women and the risk of giving birth to children with anomalies, and a survey. The survey covers the following main areas: Socio-economic status of the mother: profession and work environment; History of previous pregnancy; Health status of the mother during pregnancy and health services used. Research on the health and social aspects of obesity during pregnancy, as well as additional education on proper nutrition, would minimize these problems. Establishing good eating habits, physical activity and weight reduction are of great social importance for women of childbearing age, due to the proven risk for a healthy pregnancy and successful birth without complications. To better understand the physiological basis of obesity in women, we investigated whether obesity or menstrual cycle phase affects laboratory test-meal size or meal-stimulated plasma cholecystokinin (CCK) concentration. Women with healthy weight (body mass index [BMI] of 18.5-24.9 kg/m2, N = 16) or obesity (BMI 30-39.9 kg/m2, N = 20) were tested once in the late-follicular or peri-ovulatory phase (LF/PO) and once in the mid-luteal phase (ML). Meals of ham sandwiches were offered and blood was sampled. Menstrual cycle phases were verified with participants' reports of menses and measurements of progesterone and luteinizing hormone (LH) concentrations. Women with obesity ate significantly larger meals than women with healthy weight, (mean, 711 [95% CI, 402-1013] kJ, P = 0.001, during the LF/PO and 426 [105-734] kJ, P = 0.027, larger during the ML). Women with healthy weight ate smaller meals during LF/PO than ML (decrease, 510 [192-821 kJ], P = 0.008), but women with obesity did not (decrease, 226 [−87-542] kJ, P = 0.15). CCK concentrations 18 to 30 minutes after meal onset were lower in women with obesity than in women with healthy weight during LF/PO (3.6 [3.1-4.1] vs 6.1 [4.5-7.7] pmol/L; P = 0.004), but not during ML, with a significant interaction effect (1.8 [1.2-2.4] pmol/L, P = 0.048). Women with obesity consumed larger meals than women with healthy weight but displayed reduced meal-stimulated plasma CCK concentrations. Background: There is an association between obesity and psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, and stress. Environmental factors and genetics play a crucial role in this regard. Several long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the pathophysiology of the nervous system. Additionally, we intend to investigate how dietary glycemic index and load relate to psychological disorders in women with obesity and overweight by identifying the possible interaction with metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) and taurine upregulated gene 1 (TUG1). Methods: 267 overweight or obese women between the ages of 18 and 48 were recruited for the current study. A reliable and validated food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) consisting of 147 items assessed food consumption, glycemic load (GL), and glycemic index (GI). Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scales (DASS-21) were used to assess mental well-being. A real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to assess transcript levels for lncRNAs MALAT1 and TUG1. Results: In obese and overweight women, a positive correlation was found between anxiety and MALAT1 mRNA levels (P = 0.007, CC = 0.178). Age, energy intake, physical activity, total fat, income, marriage, thyroid, and BMI were adjusted, and GI and TUG1 were positively correlated on DASS-21 (β = 0.006, CI = 0.001, 0.01, P = 0.031), depression (β = 0.002, CI = 0.001, 0.004, P = 0.019), Stress (β = 0.003, CI = 0.001, 0.005, P = 0.027). The interaction of GL and TUG1 on stress was also observed (β = 0.03, CI = 0.001, 0.07, P = 0.048). Conclusions: The lncRNA TUG1 appears to be associated with depression and stress through interaction with GI and correlated with stress by interaction with GL. Objective Methods Results Conclusions Our study aimed to investigate the association between maternal pre‐pregnancy body mass index (BMI), gestational weight gain (GWG), and impaired pelvic floor muscle (PFM) morphology and function during the early postpartum period.This retrospective cohort study was conducted at Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital from December 2020 to December 2022. A total of 1118 primiparous women with singleton pregnancies who underwent vaginal deliveries and participated in postpartum PFM assessments were included. Maternal pre‐pregnancy BMI and GWG were considered as exposures. PFM morphology and function impairment were the primary outcomes. PFM morphology impairment, defined as levator ani muscle avulsion, was assessed using transperineal ultrasound. PFM function impairment, manifested as diminished PFM fiber strength, was assessed through vaginal manometry. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was employed to calculate adjusted odds ratios (aOR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Restricted cubic spline models were used to validate and visualize the relationship.Women with lower pre‐pregnancy BMI were at an increased risk of levator ani muscle avulsion (aOR = 1.73, 95% CI: 1.10–2.70, P = 0.017), particularly when combined with excessive GWG during pregnancy (aOR = 3.20, 95% CI: 1.15–8.97, P = 0.027). Lower pre‐pregnancy BMI was also identified as an independent predictor of PFM weakness (aOR = 1.53, 95% CI: 1.08–2.16, P = 0.017 for type I fiber injuries). Notably, regardless of the avulsion status, both underweight and overweight/obese women faced an elevated risk of reduced PFM strength (aOR = 1.74, 95% CI: 1.17–2.59, P = 0.006 for underweight women with type I fiber injuries; aOR = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.06–2.64, P = 0.027; and aOR = 1.73, 95% CI: 1.09–2.76, P = 0.021 for overweight/obese women with type I and type II fibers injuries, respectively).Both lower and higher pre‐pregnancy BMI, as well as excessive GWG, were strongly associated with PFM impairments. Background: Pregnant women with obesity face heightened focus on weight during pregnancy due to greater risk of medical complications. Closer follow-up in maternety care may contribute to reduce risk and promote health in these women. The aim of this study was to gain a deeper insight in how pregnant women with obesity experience encounters with healthcare providers in maternity care. How is the received maternity care affected by their weight, and how do they describe the way healthcare providers express attitudes towards obesity in pregnancy? Methods: We conducted in-depth interviews with 14 women in Trøndelag county in Norway with pre-pregnancy BMI of ≥ 30 kg/m2, between 3 and 12 months postpartum. The study sample was strategic regarding age, relationship status, education level, obesity class, and parity. Themes were developed using reflexive thematic analysis. The analysis was informed by contextual information from a prior study, describing the same participants' weight history from childhood to motherhood along with their perceptions of childhood quality. Results: This study comprised of an overarching theme supported by three main themes. The overarching theme, Being pregnant with a high BMI: a vulnerable condition, reflected the challenge of entering maternity care with obesity, especially for women unprepared to be seen as "outside the norm". Women who had grown up with body criticism and childhood bullying were more prepared to have their weight addressed in maternity care. The first theme, Loaded conversations: a balancing act, emphasizes how pregnant women with a history of body criticism or obesity-related otherness proactively protect their integrity against weight bias, stigma and shame. The women also described how some healthcare providers balance or avoid weight and risk conversations for the same reasons. Dehumanization: an unintended drawback of standardized care makes apparent the pitfalls of prioritizing standardization over person-centered care. Finally, the third theme, The ambivalence of discussing weight and lifestyle, represent women's underlying ambivalence towards current weight practices in maternity care. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that standardized weight and risk monitoring, along with lifestyle guidance in maternity care, can place the pregnant women with obesity in a vulnerable position, contrasting with the emotionally supportive care that women with obesity report needing. Learning from these women's experiences and their urge for an unloaded communication to protect their integrity highlights the importance of focusing on patient-centered practices instead of standardized care to create a safe space for health promotion. Background: Familial concordance of weight status is an emerging field of study that may guide the development of interventions that operate beyond the individual and within the family context. There is a dearth of published data for concordance of weight status within Pakistani households. Methods: We assessed the associations between weight status of mothers and their children in a nationally representative sample of households in Pakistan using Demographic and Health Survey data from 2017–18. Our analysis included 3465 mother–child dyads, restricting to children under-five years of age with body mass index (BMI) information on their mothers. We used linear regression models to assess the associations between maternal BMI category (underweight, normal weight, overweight, obese) and child's weight-for-height z-score (WHZ), accounting for socio-demographic characteristics of mothers and children. We assessed these relationships in all children under-five and also stratified by age of children (younger than 2 years and 2 to 5 years). Results: In all children under-five and in children 2 to 5 years, maternal BMI was positively associated with child's WHZ. For all children under-five, children of normal weight, overweight, and obese women had WHZ scores that were 0.21 [95% CI (confidence interval): 0.04, 0.37], 0.43 [95% CI: 0.25, 0.62], and 0.51 [95% CI: 0.30, 0.71] units higher than children of underweight women, respectively. For children ages 2 to 5, children of normal weight, overweight, and obese women had WHZ scores that were 0.26 [95% CI: 0.08, 0.44), 0.50 [95% CI: 0.30, 0.71), and 0.61 [95% CI: 0.37, 0.84] units higher than children of underweight women, respectively. There was no association between maternal BMI and child WHZ for children under-two. Conclusions: The findings indicate that the weight status of mother's is positively associated with that of their children, particularly after age 2. These associations further strengthen the call for research regarding interventions and policies aimed at healthy weight promotion among mothers and their children collectively, rather than focusing on individuals in isolation. Weight loss can positively alter female physiology; however, whether dietary carbohydrate- or fat- restriction confer unique effects is less studied. Precisely designed, hypocaloric well-formulated ketogenic diets (KD; ~75% energy for weight maintenance) were compared to isocaloric/isonitrogenous low-fat diet (LFD) on self-reported menses in pre-menopausal overweight and obese women (mean ± SD: 34 ± 10 years, BMI: 32.3 ± 2.7 kg/m2). Women received a precisely-weighed and formulated KD with either twice-daily with ketone salts (KS; n = 6) or a flavor-matched placebo (PL; n = 7) daily for six-weeks. An age and BMI-matched cohort (n = 6) was later assigned to the LFD and underwent the same testing procedures as the KD. Self-reported menses fluctuations were assessed bi-weekly along with measures of body weight, body composition, and fasting serum clinical chemistries using repeated measures ANOVA with Bonferroni post-hoc corrections. Both diets elicited clinically-significant weight-loss (Δ: -7.0 ± 0.5 kg; p < 0.001), primarily from fat-mass (Δ: -4.6 ± 0.3 kg; p < 0.001), and improved insulin-sensitivity and serum lipids (all p < 0.05). Fasting plasma glucose and inflammatory markers were not different between diets. Fasting capillary beta-hydroxybutyrate (R-βHB) increased significantly during the KD, independent of supplementation (Δ: 1.2 ± 0.3 mM R-βHB; p < 0.001). Women randomized to the KD+KS (30%) and KD+PL (43%) reported subjective increases in menses frequency and intensity after 14 days, whereas another third reported a regain of menses (>1 year since the last period) after 28 days. No LFD participants reported menses changes. Nutrient-dense, whole-food KDs and LFD improved weight, BMI, body composition, and blood parameters in pre-menopausal women after six-weeks. Changes in self-reported menses were described by most of the KD participants, but none of the LFD women suggesting there may be unique effects of nutritional ketosis, independent of weight loss. Background: Obesity causes many physical and mental illnesses. This study compares mindfulness-based eating awareness training (MB-EAT) versus MB-EAT plus implementation intention model for effectiveness on body mass index (BMI), weight self-efficacy, and physical activity in obese women with BMIs ≤ 25 (n = 52). Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, the participants were selected by the simple random sampling method and randomly divided into three groups. A 12-session MB-EAT of 150 min per session was performed for experimental group I. The experimental group II received MB-EAT alone for physical activity planning and MB-EAT plus implementation intention; also, both groups were compared to the control group. Data were measured by the scales, a questionnaire, and a checklist, and the P-values are based on the results of the generalized estimating equation (GEE) test. P < 0.001 were considered the significance level. Results: The MB-EAT and MB-EAT + implementation intention effectiveness on the two experimental groups' BMI, weight self-efficacy, and physical activity was significantly different from the control group. In the integrated group versus the MB-EAT group, BMI, physical activity, and physical discomfort, were more effective than the weight self-efficacy subscales. Both intervention groups were effective on BMI, weight self-efficacy, and physical activity, but the integrated group's effectiveness was more. Conclusions: The MB-EAT effectiveness trial is theory-based, reducing weight and the psychological and behavioral consequences of overweight and obese adults. The MB-EAT + the Implementation intention model is to plan regular and daily exercise according to each individual's specific circumstances. To study the laser acupuncture (LA) effects on postmenopausal obese women's metabolic syndrome. Randomized controlled trial. Benha university hospital. Thirty postmenopausal women were randomized into two equal groups. Group A received a diet regimen and Group B received LA treatment for 30 min three times a week for two months beside the diet regimen. Included weight (W), body mass index (BMI), waist (WC), hip (HC), waist-hip ratio (WHR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), serum level of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting blood insulin (FBI), homeostatic model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) before and after the end of treatment. The study's findings showed that both groups experienced a highly statistically significant decrease in the post-testing mean value of W, BMI, WC, HC, WHR, SBP, DBP, TC, TG, LDL, FBG, FBI, and HOMA-IR, while both groups experienced a significant increase in the post-treatment mean value of HDL (p 0.0001). The posttreatment SBP, DBP, TC, TG, LDL, FBS, FBI and insulin resistance were significantly lower while HDL was significantly higher in women who received combined LA and diet regimen compared to those who received dietary regimen only. Aim Methods Results Conclusions To assess the impact of intermittent fasting, with or without probiotic supplementation, versus a calorie‐restricted diet on anthropometric measures, metabolic status and gonadal variables in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).This is a randomized, placebo‐controlled, parallel‐arm clinical trial. The effects of the 14:10 early time‐restricted eating (eTRE) strategy alone or combined with probiotics, on obese women with PCOS, were investigated. Participants were divided into three groups: eTRE plus probiotics (n = 30), eTRE plus placebo (n = 30) and a control group following a standard three‐meal‐per‐day diet with daily calorie restriction (DCR) (n = 30). Over 8 weeks, various anthropometric, metabolic, menstrual and gonadal variables were assessed.A total of 90 individuals were included in the study, with a mean body weight of 81.4 kg, and a mean age of 30 years. Mean (standard deviation) weight loss was not different between the groups at week 8 (TRE + probiotic: −2.2 [1.6] kg vs. TRE + placebo: −2.9 [2.7] kg vs. DCR: −2.5 [1.7] kg). Results revealed that, while all three regimes led to reductions in body weight, body mass index, vascular risk indicators, hirsutism and acne scores, there were no statistically significant differences between the eTRE groups and the control group in terms of weight loss, or improvements in metabolic, menstrual and gonadal variables (P > .05). Background: Obesity causes infertility through various pathways, including disruption of ovarian follicular development, qualitative and quantitative development of the oocyte, fertilization, embryo development, and implantation. In traditional societies such as Türkiye, having children is a determinant of social status. Stigma is defined as a negative sense of social difference from others. Depression is a common health problem in infertile women due to the stressful nature of treatment procedures, fear of treatment failure, and the patient's inability to become pregnant. In this cross-sectional study, the sample consisted of 161 infertile women from an infertility outpatient clinic of a university hospital in Eastern Turkey. Results: It was determined that depression scores had a strong positive correlation with stigma scores. In the multiple regression analysis performed to evaluate the effects of five independent variables determined to have an effect on depression scores, it was seen that the independent variables explained depression levels by 80%. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that stigma and depression are significant factors affecting the psychosocial and emotional well-being of obese women experiencing infertility. These results underscore the potential need for more comprehensive psychosocial support and assessment for women experiencing infertility related to obesity. Obese patients should be informed about the importance of pre-pregnancy weight reduction and should be encouraged to lose weight before the treatment to reduce the poor obstetrical outcomes due to obesity. Metformin is the first‐line medication for type 2 diabetes. It is effective and safe, provided some caution is taken in specific populations. In patients with chronic kidney disease, metformin may provide long‐term benefits, and it is a first‐line therapy for diabetes, but the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) must be assessed regularly, to minimize the risk for metformin accumulation. When eGFR is 30‐60 mL/min/1.73m2, the dose should be reconsidered, and sick‐days education provided. Metformin should be discontinued when eGFR falls below 30 mL/min/1.73m2. Metformin accumulation may increase the risk for lactic acidosis if concomitant risk factors for hyperlactataemia (liver or respiratory insufficiency, sepsis, acute heart failure) are present; in these conditions, metformin is contraindicated, even although the available evidence is reassuring. Patients on metformin often complain of gastrointestinal side effects (mainly diarrhoea and nausea) during therapy initiation, but they may sometimes occur after years of stable therapy. These usually resolve if the dose is carefully titrated, or by switching to the extended‐release formulation. Patients with obesity may benefit from the significant, although modest, metformin‐associated weight loss and appetite reduction. During pregnancy, metformin is associated with a reduction of pregnancy complications, especially in obese women, but some concern remains, because metformin crosses the placenta, and it is associated with a significantly lower mean birth weight than insulin. In the elderly, gastrointestinal tolerability and renal function must be reassessed more often. Purpose: Hypertension is one of the major causes of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the USA and disproportionately affects Black women. Endothelial-derived nitric oxide (eNO) substantially regulates blood pressure in humans, and impaired NO-mediated vasodilation has been reported in the Black population. Previous studies using an NO synthase inhibitor, NG-monomethyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA) did not fully determine the NO contribution to blood pressure because of baroreflex buffering. Therefore, in the present study we used trimethaphan, a ganglionic blocker, to inhibit baroreflex buffering and study NO modulation of blood pressure in Black women during L-NMMA infusion. Methods: L-NMMA at doses of 250 μg/kg per minute was infused in combination with trimethaphan at doses of 4 mg/min to eliminate baroreflex mechanisms. Heart rate (HR) was obtained with continuous electrocardiogram monitoring, and continuous blood pressure was measured with the volume clamp method. The increase in systolic blood pressure (SBP) during both infusions was used to estimate the contribution of NO to blood pressure. Results: Ten Black (age range 30–50 years, body mass index [BMI] 30–45 kg/m2), and nine White women (age range 30–50 years, body mass index 30–45 kg/m2) were enrolled in this study. During autonomic blockade, there was no difference in the decrease in SBP between Black and White women (− 20 ± 16.45 vs. − 24 ± 15.49 mm Hg, respectively; P = 0.659). When autonomic blockade was combined with L-NMMA, Black women had a significant increase in SBP compared to White women (54 ± 13.62 vs. 39 ± 09.64 mm Hg, respectively; P = 0.022, respectively). Conclusion: Autonomic blood pressure regulation was similar between Black and White women. However, NO contribution to blood pressure was significantly greater in Black women compared to White women. The Indian Study of Healthy Ageing (ISHA) is a large-scale blood-based prospective study in India that aims to examine the burden, causes, and consequences of chronic diseases in the adult population. The study has recruited approximately 220,000 participants and is focused on testing hypotheses related to lifestyle, diet, obesity, and genetic determinants of cancer and other chronic diseases. The population studied is relatively lean, with low rates of tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking but high rates of tobacco chewing. The study will provide valuable insights into the risk factors for vascular and non-vascular mortality in the Indian population and contribute to understanding the impact of lifestyle transitions on chronic diseases. Data-sharing regulations are in place, and future collaborations are encouraged. The study collected baseline data from over 200,000 participants in India, including information on demographics, socioeconomic status, health behaviors, and physical measurements. The findings show that the participants in the study were, on average, younger and more highly educated than those under active follow-up. The study also found that the prevalence of underweight was similar between men and women, but overweight and obesity were slightly more common among women. Ethiopia is one of the sub‐Saharan African countries where underweight among women of reproductive age is high, and it is predisposing to low birth weight, preterm birth, and reduced resistance to infections. Poor water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and drinking water polluted with disease‐causing microorganisms lead to undernutrition. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the association between WASH and underweight among women of reproductive age at Arba Minch Health and Demographic Surveillance Site (HDSS), Southern Ethiopia. A community‐based cross‐sectional study was conducted at Arba Minch HDSS, South Ethiopia, from April to May 2022. Women of reproductive age were included in the study. Data were collected using a pre‐tested questionnaire and checklist. Multivariate analysis was conducted to assess the association separately for WASH indicators with underweight status of the women by adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics. Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR) with a 95% confidence interval was used to assess the association. The prevalence of underweight and overweight/obesity among women of reproductive age was 7.82% (95% CI: 5.60, 10.81) and 12.32% (95% CI: 9.50, 15.83), respectively. Latrine hygiene and use were significantly associated with being underweight. The odds of being underweight among those who use clean latrine were 0.43 (95% CI: 0.20, 0.92) compared to those who use unclean latrine or do not have toilet facilities. The utilization of clean latrine facilities is negatively associated with being underweight among women of reproductive age. The prevalence of overweight and obesity in women of reproductive age leads to significant health risks, including adverse metabolic and reproductive outcomes. Effective dietary interventions are critical to improving health outcomes in this population. This study investigates the impact of a 12-week diet intervention on metabolic markers of adipose tissue in overweight women of reproductive age, determining whether calorie restriction or low-starch diets are more effective, while also accounting for salivary amylase activity. A total of 67 overweight women of reproductive age were enrolled in a randomized controlled trial (RCT). Participants were divided into high-salivary-amylase (HSA) and low-salivary-amylase (LSA) groups based on baseline salivary amylase activity measured using a spectrophotometric method. Each group was further subdivided into two dietary intervention groups: calorie restriction (CR) and low starch (LS), resulting in four subgroups (HSA-CR, HSA-LS, LSA-CR, LSA-LS), along with a control group (CTR) of normal-weight individuals (no intervention). Participants were assigned to a calorie-restricted diet or a low-starch diet for 12 weeks. Key metabolic markers of adipose tissue, including insulin sensitivity, adipokines, cytokines, and lipid profiles, were measured at baseline (T0), 30 min after consuming starch-containing muesli (T1), and 12 weeks after intervention (T2). Active GLP-1, glucagon, and C-peptide levels were assessed to clarify the hormonal mechanisms underlying the dietary effects. Salivary amylase activity was also measured to examine its role in modulating glucose and GLP-1 responses. Both diet interventions led to significant improvements in metabolic markers of adipose tissue, though different ones. Calorie restriction improved insulin sensitivity by effectively reducing visceral fat mass and enhancing insulin signaling pathways. In contrast, the low-starch diet was linked to a reduction in the coefficient of glucose variation influenced partly by changes in GLP-1 levels. Obesity is an emerging public health problem. Chronic low-grade inflammation is considered a major promotor of obesity-induced secondary diseases such as cardiovascular and fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and several cancer entities. Most preliminary studies on obesity-induced immune responses have been conducted in male rodents. Sex-specific differences between men and women in obesity-induced immune dysregulation have not yet been fully outlined but are highly relevant to optimizing prevention strategies for overweight-associated complications. In this study, we fed C57BL/6 female vs. male mice with either standard chow or an obesity-inducing diet (OD). Blood and spleen immune cells were isolated and analyzed by flow cytometry. Lean control mice showed no sex bias in systemic and splenic immune cell composition, whereas the immune responses to obesity were significantly distinct between female and male mice. While immune cell alterations in male OD mice were characterized by a significant reduction in T cells and an increase in myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC), female OD mice displayed preserved T cell numbers. The sex-dependent differences in obesity-induced T cell dysregulation were associated with varying susceptibility to body weight gain and fatty liver disease: Male mice showed significantly more hepatic inflammation and histopathological stigmata of fatty liver in comparison to female OD mice. Our findings indicate that sex impacts susceptibility to obesity-induced T cell dysregulation, which might explain sex-dependent different incidences in the development of obesity-associated secondary diseases. These results provide novel insights into the understanding of obesity-induced chronic inflammation from a sex-specific perspective. Given that most nutrition, exercise, and therapeutic recommendations for the prevention of obesity-associated comorbidities do not differentiate between men and women, the data of this study are clinically relevant and should be taken into consideration in future trials and treatment strategies. STUDY QUESTION Is resting energy expenditure (REE) altered in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)? SUMMARY ANSWER Women with PCOS have a reduction in REE, when corrected for fat-free mass, independent of PCOS clinical phenotypes and BMI categories. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Obesity is an important issue in women with PCOS, in terms of frequency and pathophysiological implications. It has been hypothesized that obesity may be favoured by alterations in REE, but the studies have been limited and conflicting. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION This case–control study was a comparison of 266 women with PCOS and 51 healthy controls, recruited in the Verona 3P study from 2010 to 2021. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Women with PCOS diagnosed by the Rotterdam criteria, with normal thyroid function and no interfering medications, were referred to the outpatient clinic of a tertiary care centre of endocrinology and metabolism for a measurement of REE. Healthy controls were recruited in the same period and submitted to the same procedure. In all subjects, REE was measured by indirect calorimetry and serum androgens were measured by LC-MS/MS. In women with PCOS, insulin sensitivity was assessed using the hyperinsulinemic–euglycemic clamp. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE REE was similar in women with PCOS and controls. However, REE corrected for fat-free mass (REE/FFM) was significantly lower in women with PCOS than in controls (31.8 ± 4.0 vs 35.4 ± 3.9 kcal/kgFFM·day, P  < 0.001). REE/FFM did not differ between normal-weight, overweight, or obese women with PCOS, and each of these subgroups showed lower REE/FFM values than controls. Reduced REE/FFM values were found in each phenotype of the syndrome. In multiple regression analysis, REE/FFM was independently associated with age and PCOS status, but not with fat mass. In PCOS women, REE/FFM was independently and directly associated with ovarian follicle number. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION Limitations of the study are the cross-sectional design, which limits the causal inference of the results, and the unavailability of precise information about lifestyle factors, which may be potential confounders. Further prospective studies are needed to establish the importance of this phenomenon in contributing to the weight excess of PCOS. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS A reduction of REE could potentially favour weight gain in women with PCOS and possibly contribute to the altered metabolic profile typical of this condition, even counteracting the therapeutic strategies aimed to reduce excess body fat in these women. Nevertheless, the presence of this abnormality in both obese/overweight and normal-weight patients suggests that other factors must play a role in this phenomenon. STUDY QUESTION What is the association between reproductive health history (e.g. age at menarche, menopause, reproductive lifespan) with abdominal adiposity in postmenopausal women? SUMMARY ANSWER Higher visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) tissue levels were observed among women with earlier menarche, earlier menopause, and greater parity. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Postmenopausal women are predisposed to accumulation of VAT and SAT. Reproductive health variables are known predictors of overall obesity status in women, defined by BMI. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION This study is a secondary analysis of data collected from the baseline visit of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). The WHI is a large prospective study of postmenopausal women, including both a randomized trial and observational study. There were 10 184 women included in this analysis. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Data were collected from a reproductive health history questionnaire, dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry scans, and anthropometric measures at WHI baseline. Reproductive history was measured via self-report, and included age at menarche, variables related to pregnancy, and age at menopause. Reproductive lifespan was calculated as age at menopause minus age at menarche. Statistical analyses included descriptive analyses and multivariable linear regression models to examine the association between reproductive history with VAT, SAT, total body fat, and BMI. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE Women who reported early menarche (<10 years) or early menopause (<40 years) had the highest levels of VAT. Adjusted multivariable linear regression results demonstrate women who experienced menarche >15 years had 23 cm2 less VAT (95% CI: −31.4, −14.4) and 47 cm2 less SAT (95% CI: −61.8, −33.4) than women who experienced menarche at age 10 years or earlier. A similar pattern was observed for age at menopause: compared to women who experienced menopause <40 years, menopause at 50–55 years was associated with 19.3 cm2 (95% CI: −25.4, −13.3) less VAT and 27.4 cm2 (−29.6, 10.3) less SAT. High parity (>3 pregnancies) was also associated with VAT and SAT. For example, adjusted beta coefficients for VAT were 8.36 (4.33, 12.4) and 17.9 (12.6, 23.2) comparing three to four pregnancies with the referent, one to two pregnancies. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION The WHI reproductive health history questionnaire may be subject to poor recall owing to a long look-back window. Residual confounding may be present given lack of data on early life characteristics, such as maternal and pre-menarche characteristics. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS This study contributes to our understanding of reproductive lifespan, including menarche and menopause, as an important predictor of late-life adiposity in women. Reproductive health has also been recognized as a sentinel marker for chronic disease in late life. Introduction: The knowledge regarding eating behavior and disorders in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and severe obesity is limited. This study aimed to assess eating behavior and lifestyle factors in women with severe obesity (BMI ≥35 kg/m2), with and without PCOS, and the effect of weight loss on these behaviors. Material and Methods: A prospective clinical trial with participants screened for PCOS using National Institutes of Health criteria. Participants completed the Food Frequency Questionnaire, International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Three‐Factor Eating Questionnaire, and Questionnaire of Eating and Weight Patterns‐revised, and were evaluated regarding binge eating disorder using DSM‐5 criteria before and after a 12‐month weight loss intervention. Clinicaltrials.gov: NCT01319162. Results: 246 women were included (PCOS n = 63, age 33.0 ± 8.4, BMI 39.9 ± 4.7; non‐PCOS n = 183, age 37.7 ± 8.7, BMI 39.6 ± 4.3). Women with PCOS showed elevated baseline scores in cognitive restraint eating (50.0 [33.3–63.2]) compared to women without PCOS (38.9 [27.8–55.6]; p = 0.012). No differences were observed between groups in emotional and uncontrolled eating. In both groups, cognitive restraint eating was negatively correlated with energy intake (PCOS: r = −0.315, p < 0.05; non‐PCOS: r = −0.214, p < 0.001), while uncontrolled eating displayed a positive correlation with energy intake (PCOS: r = 0.263, p = 0.05; non‐PCOS: r = 0.402, p < 0.001). A positive correlation was found between emotional eating and energy intake only in women without PCOS (r = 0.400, p < 0.001). Baseline self‐reported energy intake and physical activity did not differ between groups. At 12‐month follow‐up, women with PCOS reported reduced fat intake. Women without PCOS reported reduced energy intake, carbohydrates and sugar, increased protein, reduced scores for emotional and uncontrolled eating, and heightened scores for cognitive restraint eating. Comparing changes from baseline to follow‐up, differences were found between groups in cognitive restraint, intake of fat, carbohydrates, and sugar. The mean weight loss was 12–14 kg, with no between‐group difference (p = 0.616). Conclusions: Women with severe obesity and PCOS showed elevated cognitive restraint eating behaviors compared to women without PCOS. Objective The safety of weight loss and low weight gain during pregnancy remains unclear. To determine how different patterns of gestational weight gain (GWG), including weight loss, stability, and low GWG relate to perinatal outcomes by prepregnancy obesity class. Study Design The study population included 29,408 singleton livebirths among pregnant people with obesity from Kaiser Permanente Northern California (2008–2013). Clinically measured GWG was grouped into meaningful categories (Adequate: reference, met 2009 National Academy of Medicine [NAM] Guidelines [5–9.1 kg], Excessive [>9.1 kg], Low [1–4.9 kg], Stable [±1 kg], Weight Loss [>1 kg]) or GWG Z-score quintiles. Modified Poisson regression was used to estimate risk of adverse outcomes, stratified by obesity class. Electronic health record data were used to define outcomes, including cesarean delivery, preterm birth, admission to the neonatal intensive care unit, small- and large-for-gestational age infants. Results Prevalence of weight stability and weight loss was 3.8 and 3.4%, respectively. Compared with those who gained within NAM, increased risk of small-for-gestational age was observed among those with weight loss among obesity class I (Risk Ratio (RR): 1.57, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.12, 2.19), obesity class II (RR: 2.18, 95% CI: 1.52, 3.13), and obesity class III (RR: 1.72, 95% CI: 1.21, 2.45). The objective of the study was to identify different phenotypes of overweight in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) based on body mass index (BMI) and serum leptin levels, as well as to determine the frequencies of various metabolic disorders, hypertension, and cardiovascular complications (CVCs) in individual phenotypes. The study included 50 women with RA and 46 with SLE aged 18 to 65 years without a history of diabetes and fasting hyperglycemia. In all patients, the concentration of leptin was determined by ELISA, the concentration of insulin was determined by electrochemiluminescence analysis, and the HOMA-IR index was calculated. Hyperleptinemia was diagnosed at leptin concentrations > 11.1 ng/mL; insulin resistance (IR), at HOMA-IR values ≥ 2.77. Three main phenotypes of overweight were distinguished: "classic" (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2 + hyperleptinemia), "healthy" (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2, without hyperleptinemia), "hidden" or "latent" (BMI < 25 kg/m2 + hyperleptinemia), as well as "normal weight" (BMI < 25 kg/m2, without hyperleptinemia). Patients with RA and SLE were similar in age (p = 0.4), disease duration (p = 0.2) and BMI (p = 0.5). Hyperleptinemia was found in 46% of women with RA and in 74% of women with SLE (p = 0.005), and IR was found in 10 and 22% of patients, respectively (p = 0.2). The "classic" phenotype of overweight was diagnosed in 30%, "healthy" in 8%, and "hidden" in 16% of cases with RA and in 44%, 0%, and 30% of cases with SLE, respectively. IR was found in 3% and hypertension in 6% of patients with "normal weight." With the "classic" phenotype, IR (29%) and hypertension (66%) were more common than with "normal weight" (p < 0.01 in all cases); with the "hidden" phenotype, significant differences were obtained only in hypertension frequency (45%; p = 0.0012), but not IR (18%). Three out of four women with a history of cardiovascular complications suffered from "classic" overweight, and one patient had a "normal weight." In women with SLE up to 65 years of age, the frequency of hyperleptinemia, but not IR, is higher than in patients with RA. In both diseases, the "classic" overweight phenotype is most common. In RA, a "hidden" phenotype was detected less often than in SLE, at the same time, a "healthy" phenotype is not characteristic of SLE. Purpose: To examine the effects of first-trimester HbA1c (HbA1c-FT) ≥ 37 mmol/mol on preterm birth (PTB) and large-for-gestational-age (LGA) babies in a retrospective cohort of South Asian pregnant women with gestational diabetes (GDM). Methods: The cohort (n = 686) was separated into two groups based on HbA1c-FT values: Group A (n = 97) and Group B (n = 589), with values of 37–46 mmol/mol (5.5–6.4%) and < 37 mmol/mol (5.5%), respectively. HbA1c-FT's independent influence on PTB and LGA babies was examined using multivariable logistic regression in groups A and B women. The reference group (Group C) included 2031 non-GDM women with HbA1c-FT < 37 mmol/mol (< 5.5%). The effects of HbA1c-FT on PTB and LGA babies in obese women in Groups A, B, and C (designated as A-ob, B-ob, and C-ob, respectively) were re-analyzed using multivariable logistic regression. Results: Group A GDM women with greater HbA1c-FT had a higher risk for PTB (aOR:1.86, 95% CI:1.10–3.14) but not LGA babies (aOR:1.13, 95%: 0.70–1.83). The risk of PTB was higher for obese women in Group A-ob: aOR 3.28 [95% CI 1.68–6.39]. However, GDM women with normal HbA1c-FT exhibited no elevated risk for PTB: Groups B and B-ob had aORs of 1.30 (95% CI 0.86–1.98) and 1.28 (95% CI 0.88–1.85) respectively. Conclusions: South Asian GDM women with prediabetic HbA1c FT; 37–46 mmol/mol (5.5–6.4%) are more likely to deliver preterm babies despite treatment, while the risk for LGA babies was the same as non-GDM women. Objective: Excess gestational weight gain (GWG) is a risk factor for various unfavorable maternal and neonatal outcomes that may be preventable. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle while pregnant can help prevent uncontrollable weight gain. The aim of this study was to assess pregnant women's knowledge on weight, GWG, diet, and knowledge of obesity‐related complications among women who seek care at our semi‐urban, regional setting. Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted at the prenatal clinic at Kalafong Academic Hospital. Prospective participants completed a questionnaire on their perception of GWG, attitudes toward GWG, knowledge of GWG, associated complications of obesity, and food choices. Data analysis was performed using SAS version 9.4. Results: The majority of the 500 individuals were overweight or obese prior to pregnancy. By the end of the third trimester, this increased by 10.1% (n = 420; 86.1%). Nearly half (n = 240; 48.78%) of the overweight and obese women underestimated their weight. Only 26.53% (n = 26) of women who checked their body mass index (BMI, calculated as weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters) gained weight according to recommendations. However, less than half (n = 96; 30.5%) gained weight within the recommended range, despite the fact that the majority of them (n = 315; 64%) were aware of the harmful effects of obesity on the cardiovascular system and the effects of high calories on weight gain (n = 321; 65%). Conclusion: Despite basic knowledge of the impact of high‐caloric intake on weight gain and cardiovascular complications, less than half of the study population gained weight within the recommended range. Prevalence of obesity in reproductive age and pregnant women has been on the rise during the past several decades. The relationship between body mass index (BMI) and obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS) or episiotomy has not yet been thoroughly investigated. The objective of this study was to shed light on this issue. This retrospective cohort study was performed using electronic database of an obstetrics department at a university-affiliated tertiary medical center. All spontaneous singleton vaginal deliveries at term between January 2015 and December 2021 were included. The primary outcome was the incidence of OASIS (third- and fourth-degree perineal tears) and obesity. These were compared across three BMI categories: normal (BMI below 25 kg/m2), overweight (BMI 25.0–29.9 kg/m2), and obesity (BMI of 30 kg/m2 and over). Of the overall 13,932 spontaneous vaginal deliveries identified, 34.7 % had BMI in the normal range, 43.1 % were overweight, and 25.4 % were obese. Multivariate analysis demonstrated lower rates of OASIS in obese (OR 0.2, 95 %CI 0.04–0.9) and in overweight (OR 0.3, 95 %CI 0.1–0.99) women, as compared to the normal-weight cohort. In addition, lower rates of episiotomy were noted in the obese cohort (OR 0.7, 95 %CI 0.6–0.8). Decreased incidence of OASIS was noted in women with obesity, in conjunction with lower use of episiotomy. Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a disorder that primarily affects obese women of reproductive age. The exact pathogenesis of IIH is unknown though multiple etiologies have been proposed. We report a case of IIH triggered by first-time Ramadan intermittent fasting (RIF) in an 18-year-old woman. Our patient developed new onset headaches, diplopia, and pulsatile tinnitus with examination notable for bilateral papilledema and lumbar puncture revealing an elevated opening pressure. Her symptoms resolved after cessation of RIF, apart from persistent left sided tinnitus which later resolved with acetazolamide administration. This case report uniquely illustrates that RIF may provoke symptomatic IIH. We hypothesize that a decreased concentration of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) induced by fasting results in decreased GLP-1 receptor activation in the choroid plexus, allowing for increased CSF secretion into the ventricles invoking increased intracranial pressure (ICP). Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a risk factor for female breast cancer (FBC). Obesity has also been associated with FBC, also depending on menopausal status. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of obesity and T2D on the development, aggressiveness, and invasiveness of FBC. Methods: Demographic, clinical, and histopathological data from 335 women with FBC were collected, and analyzed according to weight category (102 normal weight, 117 overweight, and 116 living with obesity) and the presence/absence of T2D. Results: Age at oncologic diagnosis was not statistically significantly different for body weight; women with overweight or obesity were more likely to have an oncologic diagnosis after menopause than normal weight (p < 0.001). The presence of overweight/obesity and T2D seemed to be associated with a higher incidence of metastasis, recurrence, and triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) subtype (p < 0.001). Excess body weight was also associated with high histologic grade (G3) (p < 0.005). Conclusions: These results confirm excess body weight and T2D as unfavorable prognostic factors in terms of the presence of the TNBC subtype, tumor metastasis, recurrence, and aggressiveness (G3 and Ki‐67 > 20%). Background: The EXOFFIT study compared the effectiveness of three time‐matched exercise interventions in women with obesity for improving cardiorespiratory fitness. To best inform future research, evaluation of the interventions' acceptability is needed. Previous research has been inconsistent with methods and reporting of acceptability. Thus, the theoretical framework of acceptability (TFA) can be utilized to ensure that all aspects of acceptability are evaluated. No study to date in women with obesity has utilized the TFA in conjunction with quantitative data (i.e., frequencies of themes) to highlight the aspects of interventions that may be most important for participants. Objective: This study aimed to examine the acceptability of the EXOFFIT program and gain insight into the participants' experience of participation, their perspective on the acceptability of trial procedures and interventions and gather their feedback on program changes. Methods: A mixed‐methods approach was employed. Thirty‐eight participants who completed the exercise interventions were interviewed and completed a self‐reported exit questionnaire. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed in three phases: emergent themes were agreed upon, then mapped to the TFA constructs and the frequencies of each construct and theme were presented as counts. Data collected from the exit questionnaire were collated and reported using descriptive statistics. Results: All seven TFA constructs were identified in the analysis. The EXOFFIT program was found to have a high level of acceptability, with affective attitude, perceived effectiveness and self‐efficacy being the most reported constructs. The burden and opportunity costs associated with the program were mainly related to family commitments and support needed to participate. Any negative impact of participation was noted to be outweighed by the perceived benefits. Conclusions: The results of this study will inform the development of future programs with women with obesity and support the consideration of the TFA constructs from the outset of study design. Objective: This study examined the relationships between ADHD symptomatology, the motivations for physical activity (PA) according to self-determination theory, and the acceptability of three PA promotion technologies (active video game, mobile application, and telehealth) according to the dimensions of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology-2 (UTAUT2). Method: A total of 312 women, aged 30.7 ± 7.1 years, followed for obesity with an average body mass index of 34.5 ± 7.8 kg/m², were included in this sub-analysis. Results: Fifty-seven individuals (18.3%) were identified with positive screening symptoms of ADHD. No differences emerged regarding acceptability of technology-based PA. However, individuals with positive screening for ADHD tended to have higher scores for acceptability of active video game on the UTAUT2 dimensions of effort expectancy and hedonic motivation. This systematic review aimed to assess the impact of Bifidobacterium genus probiotics on body weight and body composition parameters in overweight and obese individuals. A systematic search for randomized controlled trials was conducted in MEDLINE, EMBASE, LILACS, and Google Scholar databases until April 17, 2023. The inclusion criteria required the trials to involve Bifidobacterium genus probiotics interventions and the evaluation of obesity-related anthropometric and body composition outcomes in overweight or obese subjects. Studies were excluded when involving obese individuals with genetic syndromes or pregnant women, as well as probiotic mixture interventions. The revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials was utilized to assess the quality of the included studies. A random-effects meta-analysis was performed using the mean difference between endpoint measurements and change from baseline for body mass index, body weight, body fat mass, body fat percentage, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, and visceral fat area. From 1,527 retrieved reports, 11 studies (911 subjects) were included in this review. Bifidobacterium probiotics administration resulted in significant reductions in body fat mass (MD = −0.64 kg, 95% CI: −1.09, −0.18, p = 0.006), body fat percentage (MD = −0.64%, 95% CI: −1.18, −0.11, p = 0.02), waist circumference (MD = −1.39 cm, 95% CI: −1.99, −0.79, p < 0.00001), and visceral fat area (MD = −4.38 cm2, 95% CI: −7.24, −1.52, p = 0.003). No significant differences were observed for body mass index, body weight, or waist-to-hip ratio. This systematic review suggests that Bifidobacterium genus probiotics may contribute to managing overweight and obesity by reducing body fat mass, body fat percentage, waist circumference, and visceral fat area. Further research is required to understand strain and species interactions, optimal dosages, and effective delivery methods for probiotics in obesity management. Probiotics from the Bifidobacterium genus show promise in reducing body fat mass, body fat percentage, waist circumference, and visceral fat area in overweight and obese adults. Studies showing the relationship between meal frequency, weight loss and anthropometric measurements are contradictory. This study aims to determine the effect of meal frequency on weight loss, anthropometric measurements, and body composition. This is a parallel designed randomized control trial that was conducted with 40 female volunteers between the ages of 19–64 years, with a Body Mass Index (BMI) ≥27 who applied to a private clinic. Participants were randomized in two treatment arms (3 meals + 3 snacks/day (n = 20) vs 3 meals/day (n = 20)) and same dietary energy restriction (–500kcal) was applied for 3 months. Food consumption was questioned with 3 day food records, and anthropometric measurements and body composition were measured before the study and repeated each week till the end of the study by the researcher. All of the participants completed the study period. Body weight (kg), BMI (kg/m2), total body fat (kg), body fat percentage (%), fat free mass (kg) and waist circumference (cm) decreased, while fat free mass percentage (%) increased significantly in both of the groups at the end of the study (p < 0.05). The rate of difference for body weight, BMI (kg/m2) and waist circumference (cm) were similar among the groups. When difference in body composition analyses was examined, the rate of reduction in total body fat (–18.82 ± 4.97% vs −14.87 ± 7.44%) and body fat percentage (%)(–10.79 ± 4.63% vs −7.68 ± 7.04%) and the rate of increase in fat free mass percentage (%)(7.65 ± 3.16% vs 5.04 ± 3.44%) were significantly higher in 3 meals + 3 snacks group (p < 0.05). When energy restricted and balanced weight loss programs are applied, alteration in body weight, BMI and waist circumference is not affected from meal frequency, but body composition does. Introduction: A higher incidence of neural dysfunction in people with obesity has been described. We determined the prevalence of neuropathic lesions in obese women and evaluated their potential association with anthropometric and laboratory parameters. Patients and methods: In our cross-sectional study, we enrolled female patients with obesity and without diabetes before obesity treatment. Voluntary female subjects were controls with a normal body mass index (BMI). Autonomic function was assessed by Ewing's cardiovascular reflex tests, while comprehensive peripheral neuropathic assessments were conducted utilizing the Neurometer®, Tiptherm®, Monofilament®, and Rydel-Seiffer tuning fork tests. Sudomotor function was assessed by the Neuropad®-test. Body composition was examined using the InBody 770. Results: 71 patients (mean ± SD; age: 36.1 ± 8.3 years; BMI: 40.2 ± 8.5 kg/m²) and 36 controls (age: 36.4 ± 13.3 years; BMI: 21.6 ± 2.1 kg/m²) were enrolled. Patients had significantly higher systolic (patients vs. controls; 137.5 ± 16.9 vs. 114.6 ± 14.8 mmHg, p<0.001) and diastolic (83.0 ± 11.7 vs.69.8 ± 11.2 mmHg, p<0.001) blood pressure compared to controls. Among autonomic tests, only the heart rate response to Valsalva maneuver (Valsalva-ratio) revealed significant impairment in patients (1.4 ± 0.2 vs. 1.7 ± 0.4, p<0.001). Neurometer® at the median nerve revealed increased current perception threshold (CPT) values at all stimulating frequencies in patients (CPT at 2000 Hz: 204.6 ± 70.9 vs. 168.1 ± 66.9, p=0.013; 250 Hz: 84.4 ± 38.9 vs. 56.5 ± 34.8, p<0.001; CPT at 5 Hz: 58.5 ± 31.2 vs 36.9 ± 29.1, p<0.001). The Rydel-Seiffer tuning fork test has revealed a significant impairment of vibrational sensing on the lower limb in patients (right hallux: 6.8 ± 0.9 vs. 7.4 ± 0.8, p=0.030; left hallux: 6.9 ± 0.8 vs. 7.3 ± 0.9, p=0.029). The Neuropad® testing showed a significant impairment of sudomotor function in women with obesity. A negative correlation was found in patients between BMI and the 25-hydroxy-D3/D2-vitamin levels (r=-0.41, p=0.00126) and a positive correlation between the BMI and resting systolic blood pressure (r=0.26, p=0.0325). Conclusion: Peripheral sensory neuronal and sudomotor function impairments were detected in female patients with obesity compared to the controls with normal BMI. Cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction was also revealed by the Valsalva-ratio in these patients, suggesting the presence of parasympathetic dysfunction. Studies were eligible if they were randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing GLP-1RAs against any other treatments for patients with PCOS.Overall, a total of 8 RCTs were included in this review, 7 of the RCTs compared GLP-1RAs with metformin, and 1 RCT compared GLP-1Ras with dapagliflozin. Compared with control group, GLP-1RAs were more effective at improving insulin sensitivity, reducing BMI, and resulting in a smaller waist circumference.GLP-1RAs may be a good option for obese women with PCOS, especially those with insulin resistance. Background: Approximately one-third of US young adults (18–25 years) have obesity, and there are calls to help young adults lose weight to prevent weight-related chronic conditions. This pilot trial tested the feasibility and acceptability of a very low-carbohydrate (VLC) eating pattern, with supportive positive affect and mindful eating skills, for weight management among young females with obesity. Methods: In a single-arm trial, women (N = 17), aged 19–23, with obesity participated in a 4-month diet and lifestyle intervention. Participants were taught how to follow a VLC eating pattern with the help of a coach and 16 weekly web-based sessions. We assessed feasibility and acceptability through session participation, outcome collection, intervention satisfaction, and adverse events. Results: Seventeen participants enrolled and 14 (82%) reported body weight at 4 months. Fifteen participants (94% of those beginning the intervention) viewed at least one session, and 8/15 (53%) of these participants were active in the intervention, viewing at least half of the sessions. Among the nine participants who provided 4-month self-report information, intervention satisfaction was high (mean 5.89/7, 95% CI 4.59 to 7.19). Among participants with a 4-month body weight, 7/14 (50%) lost ≥ 5% of their body weight, and of those who were also active in the intervention, 6/7 (86%) lost ≥ 5% of their body weight. There were no serious adverse events. Conclusions: The results of this pilot study suggest that a VLC eating pattern may be a feasible and acceptable approach for weight loss in some young women with obesity. The excessive accumulation and malfunctioning of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) is a major determinant of increased risk of obesity-related comorbidities. Thus, risk stratification of people living with obesity according to their amount of VAT is of clinical interest. Currently, the most common VAT measurement methods include mathematical formulae based on anthropometric dimensions, often biased by human measurement errors, bio-impedance, and image techniques such as X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) analysis, which requires specialized equipment. However, previous studies showed the possibility of classifying people living with obesity according to their VAT through blood chemical concentrations by applying machine learning techniques. In addition, most of the efforts were spent on men living with obesity while little was done for women. Therefore, this study aims to compare the performance of the multilinear regression model (MLR) in estimating VAT and six different supervised machine learning classifiers, including logistic regression (LR), support vector machine and decision tree-based models, to categorize 149 women living with obesity. For clustering, the study population was categorized into classes 0, 1, and 2 according to their VAT and the accuracy of each MLR and classification model was evaluated using DXA-data (DXAdata), blood chemical concentrations (BLDdata), and both DXAdata and BLDdata together (ALLdata). Estimation error and R 2 were computed for MLR, while receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and precision-recall curves (PR) area under the curve (AUC) were used to assess the performance of every classification model. MLR models showed a poor ability to estimate VAT with mean absolute error ≥ 401.40 and R 2 ≤ 0.62 in all the datasets. The highest accuracy was found for LR with values of 0.57, 0.63, and 0.53 for ALLdata, DXAdata, and BLDdata, respectively. The ROC AUC showed a poor ability of both ALLdata and DXAdata to distinguish class 1 from classes 0 and 2 (AUC = 0.31, 0.71, and 0.85, respectively) as also confirmed by PR (AUC = 0.24, 0.57, and 0.73, respectively). However, improved performances were obtained when applying LR model to BLDdata (ROC AUC ≥ 0.61 and PR AUC ≥ 0.42), especially for class 1. These results seem to suggest that, while a direct and reliable estimation of VAT was not possible in our cohort, blood sample-derived information can robustly classify women living with obesity by machine learning-based classifiers, a fact that could benefit the clinical practice, especially in those health centres where medical imaging devices are not available. Introduction: Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), characterized by a proliferation of neoplastic cells confined within the mammary ducts, is distinctly isolated from the surrounding stroma by an almost uninterrupted layer of myoepithelial cells (MECs) and by the basement membrane. Heightened interactions within the adipose microenvironment, particularly in obese patients, may play a key role in the transition from DCIS to invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), which is attracting growing interest in scientific research. Adipose tissue undergoes metabolic changes in obesity, impacting adipokine secretion and promoting chronic inflammation. This study aimed to assess the interactions between DCIS, including in situ cancer cells and MECs, and the various components of its inflammatory adipose microenvironment (adipocytes and macrophages). Methods: To this end, a 3D co-culture model was developed using bicellular bi-fluorescent DCIS-like tumoroids, adipose cells, and macrophages to investigate the influence of the inflammatory adipose microenvironment on DCIS progression. Results: The 3D co-culture model demonstrated an inhibition of the expression of genes involved in apoptosis (BAX, BAG1, BCL2, CASP3, CASP8, and CASP9), and an increase in genes related to cell survival (TP53, JUN, and TGFB1), inflammation (TNF-α, PTGS2, IL-6R), invasion and metastasis (TIMP1 and MMP-9) in cancer cells of the tumoroids under inflammatory conditions versus a non-inflammatory microenvironment. On the contrary, it confirmed the compromised functionality of MECs, resulting in the loss of their protective effects against cancer cells. Adipocytes from obese women showed a significant increase in the expression of all studied myofibroblast-associated genes (myoCAFs), such as FAP and α-SMA. In contrast, adipocytes from normal-weight women expressed markers of inflammatory fibroblast phenotypes (iCAF) characterized by a significant increase in the expression of LIF and inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-8, and CXCL-10. These changes also influenced macrophage polarization, leading to a pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype. In contrast, myoCAF-associated adipocytes, and the cancer-promoting microenvironment polarized macrophages towards an M2 phenotype, characterized by high CD163 receptor expression and IL-10 and TGF-β secretion. Discussion: Reciprocal interactions between the tumoroid and its microenvironment, particularly in obesity, led to transcriptomic changes in adipocytes and macrophages, may participate in breast cancer progression while disrupting the integrity of the MEC layer. Background: Overweight/obesity has become global health concern with increasing prevalence. This study examined district-level disparities and spatial clustering of overweight/obesity among women of reproductive age (WRA) in India using the latest National Family Health Survey-5 (2019–2021) data. Method: Information of 623,656 women aged 15 to 49 from the NFHS-5 (2019–2021) were analysed in this study. The outcome variable was BMI as classified by the world health organisation (WHO). Utilising Global Moran's I, Anselin's Local Moran's I, and spatial regression models spatial clustering and associated factors were analysed. Result: The study found that 24% (95% CI: 23.8–24.3) of WRA in India were overweight/obese in 2019–21. The prevalence was greatest in Punjab (41%) and lowest in Meghalaya (11%). Additionally, the Global Moran's I value for the outcome variable was 0.73, indicating a positive spatial autocorrelation in the overweight/obesity. Districts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Delhi were hotspots of overweight/obesity. Several factors of overweight/obesity among WRA were identified, including place of residence (β: 0.034, p: 0.011), parity (β: 0.322, p: 0.002), social group (β: -0.031, p: 0.016), religion (β: -0.044, p: <0.001), household wealth status (β: 0.184, p: <0.001), mass-media exposure (β: 0.056, p: 0.031), and diabetes (β: 0.680, p: <0.001). Conclusion: The study emphasizes the importance of targeted interventions and region-specific strategies, while also stressing the need to address associated factors to develop effective public health initiatives aimed at reducing overweight/obesity prevalence among WRA in India. Objective: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Dietary interventions can directly affect several ASCVD risk factors. This study aimed to assess an association between dairy consumption and the odds of ASCVD and its risk factors in women with overweight and obesity. Methods: The present cross-sectional study was conducted on 390 Iranian women aged 18–48 years and body mass index (BMI) ≥ 25 kg/m². Dairy consumption was assessed using a 147-item food frequency questionnaire. Participants were divided into tertiles based on their dairy consumption with 130 (33.3%) women in each category. Results: The participants had an average age of 36.73 ± 9.18 years, and the mean BMI was 31.28 ± 4.30 kg/m2. In the unadjusted model, individuals in the third tertile of dairy consumption had 0.79 times lower odds of ASCVD compared to those in the first tertile (OR: 0.21; 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 0.11, 0.41; P-value = 0.001). Additionally, we observed a significant inverse relationship between higher dairy intake and adiposity markers, blood pressure, and Triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI). Conclusion: The study revealed a negative association between dairy intake and the risk of ASCVD but this association diminished after adjusting for confounding factors. Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the prevalence of diabetes in a clinical population of primarily Indigenous women in Guatemala. Results: In a retrospective chart review of a clinical program serving 13,643 primarily Indigenous women in Guatemala, crude diabetes prevalence was 8.3% (95% Confidence Interval [CI]: 7.8 to 8.7) and age-adjusted diabetes prevalence was 7.9% (95% CI: 7.3 to 8.5). Among those with diabetes, 37.9% (95% CI: 35.1 to 40.8) of women were undiagnosed. Diabetes prevalence rose significantly with increasing age and was significantly higher among women with obesity (risk ratio: 1.4 [95% CI: 1.1 to 1.8]) and among women least likely to be in poverty (risk ratio: 2.0 [95% CI: 1.5 to 2.6]). Diabetes prevalence was significantly lower among Indigenous women (risk ratio: 0.7 [95% CI: 0.6 to 0.9]) and among women who spoke Mayan languages rather than Spanish (risk ratio: 0.7 [95% CI: 0.6 to 0.9]). Infertility among women, particularly those living with obesity, presents a multifaceted challenge with implications for reproductive health worldwide. Lifestyle interventions, mainly focusing on weight loss, have emerged as promising strategies to improve fertility outcomes in this population. This review aims to explore the effectiveness of various lifestyle interventions, encompassing dietary modifications and exercise regimens, in enhancing fertility outcomes among women with obesity and associated conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, type 2 diabetesmellitus, premenopause, hypothyroidism and eating disorders. Methodology of study search encompass a broad spectrum, ranging from interventions targeting weight management through slow or rapid weight loss to dietary approaches emphasizing whole food groups, specific nutrients, and dietary patterns like low-carbohydrate or ketogenic diets, as well as the Mediterranean diet. By synthesizing existing findings and recommendations, this review contributes to the understanding of lifestyle interventions in addressing infertility, with an emphasis on the population of women of reproductive age with excess weight and known or unknown infertility issues, while promoting their integration into clinical practice to optimize reproductive health and overall well-being. The prevalence of overweight and obese people worldwide has dramatically increased in the last decades and is yet to peak. At the same time and partly due to obesity and associated assisted reproduction, twinning rates showed a clear rise in the last years. Adverse fetomaternal outcomes are known to occur in singleton and twin pregnancies in overweight and obese women. However, the impact of the obesity levels as defined by the World Health Organization on the outcomes of twin pregnancies has not been thoroughly studied. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine how maternal overweight, and the level of obesity affect fetomaternal outcomes in twin pregnancies, hypothesizing a higher likelihood for adverse outcomes with overweight and each obesity level. This is a retrospective cohort study with 2,349 twin pregnancies that delivered at the Buergerhospital Frankfurt, Germany between 2005 and 2020. The mothers were divided into exposure groups depending on their pre-gestational body mass index; these were normal weight (reference group), overweight and obesity levels I, II, and III. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the influence of overweight and obesity on gestational diabetes mellitus, preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, intrauterine fetal death, and a five-minutes Apgar score below seven. The adjusted odds ratio for gestational diabetes compared to normal weight mothers were 1.47, 2.79, 4.05, and 6.40 for overweight and obesity levels I, II and III respectively (p = 0.015 for overweight and p < 0.001 for each obesity level). Maternal BMI had a significant association with the risk of preeclampsia (OR 1.04, p = 0.028). Overweight and obesity did not affect the odds of postpartum hemorrhage, fetal demise, or a low Apgar score. While maternal overweight and obesity did not influence the fetal outcomes in twin pregnancies, they significantly increased the risk of gestational diabetes and preeclampsia, and that risk is incremental with increasing level of obesity.
