This study explored the interplay between the ligand–surface chemistry of colloidal CsPbBr3 nanowires (NWs) and their optical properties. The ligand equilibrium was probed using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and by perturbing the equilibrium via dilution, the gradual removal of ligands from the CsPbBr3 surface was observed. This removal was correlated with an increase in the surface defect density, as suggested by a broadening of the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum, a decrease in the PL quantum yield (PLQY), and quenching of the PL decay. These results highlight similar surface binding between the traditional CsPbBr3 quantum dots and our NWs, thereby expanding the scope of well-established ligand chemistry to a relatively unexplored nanocrystal morphology. By controlling the dilution factor, it was revealed that CsPbBr3 NWs achieve a PLQY of 72% ± 2% and a relatively long average PL lifetime of 400 ± 10 ns, without relying on additional surface passivation techniques, such as ligand exchange. A new algorithm has been developed to simulate two-dimensional (2D) spectra with correlated anisotropic frequencies faster and more accurately than previous methods. The technique uses finite-element numerical integration on the sphere and an interpolation scheme based on the Alderman–Solum–Grant algorithm. This method is particularly useful for numerical calculations of joint probability distribution functions involving quantities with a parametric orientation dependence. The technique's efficiency also allows for practical least-squares fitting of experimental 2D solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) datasets. The simulation method is illustrated for select 2D NMR methods, and a least-squares analysis is demonstrated in the extraction of paramagnetic shift and quadrupolar coupling tensors and their relative orientation from the experimental shifting-d echo 2H NMR spectrum of a NiCl2 · 2D2O salt. The effect of replacing magnesia by alumina on the pressure-dependent structure of amorphous enstatite was investigated by applying in situ high-pressure neutron diffraction with magnesium isotope substitution to glassy (MgO)0.375(Al2O3)0.125(SiO2)0.5. The replacement leads to a factor of 2.4 increase in the rate-of-change of the Mg–O coordination number with pressure, which increases from 4.76(4) at ambient pressure to 6.51(4) at 8.2 GPa, and accompanies a larger probability of magnesium finding bridging oxygen atoms as nearest-neighbors. The Al–O coordination number increases from 4.17(7) to 5.24(8) over the same pressure interval at a rate that increases when the pressure is above ∼3.5 GPa. On recovering the glass to ambient conditions, the Mg–O and Al–O coordination numbers reduce to 5.32(4) and 4.42(6), respectively. The Al–O value is in accordance with the results from solid-state 27Al nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, which show the presence of six-coordinated aluminum species that are absent in the uncompressed material. These findings explain the appearance of distinct pressure-dependent structural transformation regimes in the preparation of permanently densified magnesium aluminosilicate glasses. They also indicate an anomalous minimum in the pressure dependence of the bulk modulus with an onset that suggests a pressure-dependent threshold for transitioning between scratch-resistant and crack-resistant material properties. Traditional theories of the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) autocorrelation function for intra-molecular dipole pairs assume a single-exponential decay, yet the calculated autocorrelation of realistic systems displays a rich, multi-exponential behavior, resulting in anomalous NMR relaxation dispersion (i.e., frequency dependence). We develop an approach to model and interpret the multi-exponential intra-molecular autocorrelation using simple, physical models within a rigorous statistical mechanical development that encompasses both rotational diffusion and translational diffusion in the same framework. We recast the problem of evaluating the autocorrelation in terms of averaging over a diffusion propagator whose evolution is described by a Fokker–Planck equation. The time-independent part admits an eigenfunction expansion, allowing us to write the propagator as a sum over modes. Each mode has a spatial part that depends on the specified eigenfunction and a temporal part that depends on the corresponding eigenvalue (i.e., correlation time) with a simple, exponential decay. The spatial part is a probability distribution of the dipole pair, analogous to the stationary states of a quantum harmonic oscillator. Drawing inspiration from the idea of inherent structures in liquids, we interpret each of the spatial contributions as a specific molecular mode. These modes can be used to model and predict the NMR dipole–dipole relaxation dispersion of fluids by incorporating phenomena on the molecular level. We validate our statistical mechanical description of the distribution in molecular modes with molecular dynamics simulations interpreted without any relaxation models or adjustable parameters: the most important poles in the Padé–Laplace transform of the simulated autocorrelation agree with the eigenvalues predicted by the theory. Despite the importance of rhodium complexes in catalysis, and the favorable 100% natural abundance of the spin-1/2 103Rh nucleus, there are few reports of 103Rh nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) parameters in the literature. In part, this is the consequence of the very low gyromagnetic ratio of 103Rh and its dismal NMR sensitivity. In a previous paper [Harbor-Collins et al., J. Chem. Phys. 159, 104 307 (2023)], we demonstrated an NMR methodology for 1H-enhanced 103Rh NMR and demonstrated an application to the 103Rh NMR of the dirhodium formate paddlewheel complex. In this paper, we employ selective 18O labeling to break the magnetic equivalence of the 103Rh spin pair of dirhodium formate. This allows the estimation of the 103Rh–103Rh spin–spin coupling and provides access to the 103Rh singlet state. We present the first measurement of a 18O-induced 103Rh secondary isotope shift as well as the first instance of singlet order generated in a 103Rh spin pair. Nuclear spin hyperpolarization derived from parahydrogen is a technique for enhancing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sensitivity. The key to hyperpolarization experiments is to achieve rapid transfer and detection to minimize relaxation losses, while also avoiding bubbles or turbulence to guarantee high spectral resolution. In this article, we describe an experimental approach for the interleaved joint modulation of parahydrogen-induced polarization and NMR. We provide schematic diagrams of parahydrogen-based polarizer with in situ high-pressure detection capability and low-field polarization transfer. This approach can help to control the experimental process and acquire experimental information, one example of which is the attainment of the highest hyperpolarization signal intensity at 3.6 s after closing the valve. The polarizer demonstrates in situ detection capability, allowing sample to be restabilized within 0.3 ± 0.1 s and high-resolution NMR sampling under a pressure of 3 bars. Moreover, it can transfer polarized samples from the polarization transfer field to the detection region of NMR within 1 ± 0.3 s for completing signal amplification by reversible exchange experiments. We present a gauge-origin invariant exact two-component (X2C) approach within a modern density functional framework, supporting meta-generalized gradient approximations such as TPSS and range-separated hybrid functionals such as CAM-B3LYP. The complete exchange-correlation kernel is applied, including the direct contribution of the field-dependent basis functions and the reorthonormalization contribution from the perturbed overlap matrix. Additionally, the finite nucleus model is available for the electron-nucleus potential and the vector potential throughout. Efficiency is ensured by the diagonal local approximation to the unitary decoupling transformation in X2C as well as the (multipole-accelerated) resolution of the identity approximation for the Coulomb term (MARI-J, RI-J) and the seminumerical exchange approximation. Errors introduced by these approximations are assessed and found to be clearly negligible. The applicability of our implementation to large-scale calculations is demonstrated for a tin pincer-type system as well as low-valent tin and lead complexes. Here, the calculation of the Sn nuclear magnetic resonance shifts for the pincer-type ligand with about 2400 basis functions requires less than 1 h for hybrid density functionals. We report measurements of the Meissner screening profile in a Nb (300 nm)/ Al 2 O 3 thin film using 8 Li β -detected nuclear magnetic resonance (β -NMR). The NMR probe 8 Li was ion-implanted into the Nb film at energies ≤ 20 keV, corresponding to mean stopping depths comparable to Nb 's magnetic penetration depth λ. 8 Li 's strong dipole–dipole coupling with the host 93 Nb nuclei provided a "cross-relaxation" channel that dominated in low magnetic fields, which conferred indirect sensitivity to the local magnetic field via the spin-lattice relaxation (SLR) rate 1 / T 1. From a fit of the 1 / T 1 data to a model accounting for its dependence on temperature, magnetic field, and 8 Li + implantation energy, we obtained a magnetic penetration depth λ 0 = 51.5(22) nm, consistent with a relatively short carrier mean-free-path ℓ = 18.7(29) nm typical of similarly prepared Nb films. The results presented here constitute an important step toward using 8 Li β -NMR to characterize bulk Nb samples with engineered surfaces, which are often used in the fabrication of particle accelerators. In hyperpolarization experiments using parahydrogen, a partially negative line (PNL) of o-H2 is occasionally spotted in the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra. This is a manifestation of the two-spin order (TSO) of the proton spins, appearing transiently in o-H2 molecules freshly derived from p-H2. For the TSO to be observable, the o-H2 NMR signal must be split into a doublet. In the literature, the splitting is believed to originate from a slow exchange of the dissolved dihydrogen with the dihydride moiety bound to a catalyst present in the reaction mixture. Because this hypothesis may be debatable, in this work a different splitting mechanism is proposed. It employs a residual dipolar coupling (RDC) between the hydrogen protons, originating from a partial orientation of the H2 molecules by the external magnetic field. The orientation effect is due to the anisotropic magnetic polarizability of H2. In a magnetic field of 11.74 T at room temperature, the currently predicted value of the RDC is −0.0024 Hz. Even such small RDC values are sufficient for the PNL effect to be clearly visible in NMR spectra for physically reasonable levels of the TSO in the o-H2 molecules. For RDC values much smaller than the natural linewidth of o-H2, the theoretical frequency distance between the minimum and maximum of PNL proves to be practically independent of the RDC and is of the order of the linewidth. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of spin-1/2 nuclei with low gyromagnetic ratio is challenging due to the low NMR signal strength. Methodology for the rapid acquisition of 103Rh NMR parameters is demonstrated for the case of the rhodium formate "paddlewheel" complex R h 2 (H C O 2 ) 4 . A scheme is described for enhancing the 103Rh signal strength by polarization transfer from 1H nuclei, which also greatly reduces the interference from ringing artifacts, a common hurdle for the direct observation of low-γ nuclei. The 103Rh relaxation time constants T1 and T2 are measured within 20 min by using 1H-detected experiments. The field dependence of the 103Rh T1 is measured. The high-field relaxation is dominated by the chemical shift anisotropy mechanism. The 103Rh shielding anisotropy is found to be very large: |Δσ| = 9900 ± 540 ppm. Pandit[1] provides a review on the application of magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and related techniques, with which it is possible to access the motion of proteins, pigments, and lipids on sub-nanoseconds to millisecond timescales on very different length scales ranging from solubilized complexes to whole cells. Remarkably, the spectral density includes 50 high-frequency vibrational modes per pigment, besides a low-frequency part characterizing the pigment-protein coupling. Using this technique, excitation energy transfer between the bacteriochlorophyll a pigments of the LH2 complex of purple bacteria is studied. Two important points dealt with in the present Special Topic issue on "Photosynthetic Light-Harvesting and Energy Conversion" are the following: (i) Pigment-protein complexes undergo conformational transitions on many different timescales that include transitions between functionally relevant modes of light harvesting and photoprotection. The structure of zinc aluminosilicate glasses with the composition (ZnO)x(Al2O3)y(SiO2)1−x−y, where 0 ≤ x < 1, 0 ≤ y < 1, and x + y < 1, was investigated over a wide composition range by combining neutron and high-energy x-ray diffraction with 27Al magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The results were interpreted using an analytical model for the composition-dependent structure in which the zinc ions do not act as network formers. Four-coordinated aluminum atoms were found to be in the majority for all the investigated glasses, with five-coordinated aluminum atoms as the main minority species. Mean Al–O bond distances of 1.764(5) and 1.855(5) Å were obtained for the four- and five-coordinated aluminum atoms, respectively. The coordination environment of zinc was not observed to be invariant. Instead, it is dependent on whether zinc plays a predominantly network-modifying or charge-compensating role and, therefore, varies systematically with the glass composition. The Zn–O coordination number and bond distance were found to be 4.36(9) and 2.00(1) Å, respectively, for the network-modifying role vs 5.96(10) and 2.08(1) Å, respectively, for the charge-compensating role. The more open coordination environment of the charge-compensator is related to an enhanced probability of zinc finding bridging oxygen atoms as nearest-neighbors, reflecting a change in the connectivity of the glass network comprising four-coordinated silicon and aluminum atoms as the alumina content is increased. Stretching or compressing hydrogels creates anisotropic environments that lead to motionally averaged alignment of embedded guest quadrupolar nuclear spins such as 23Na+. These distorted hydrogels can elicit a residual quadrupolar coupling that gives an oscillation in the trajectories of single quantum coherences (SQCs) as a function of the evolution time during a spin-echo experiment. We present solutions to equations of motion derived with a Liouvillian superoperator approach, which encompass the coherent quadrupolar interaction in conjunction with relaxation, to give a full analytical description of the evolution trajectories of rank-1 ( T ^ 1 ± 1 ), rank-2 ( T ^ 2 ± 1 ), and rank-3 ( T ^ 3 ± 1 ) SQCs. We performed simultaneous numerical fitting of the experimental 23Na nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra and rank-2 ( T ^ 2 ± 1 ) and rank-3 ( T ^ 3 ± 1 ) SQC evolution trajectories measured in double and triple quantum filtered experiments, respectively. We estimated values of the quadrupolar coupling constant CQ, rotational correlation time τC, and 3 × 3 Saupe order matrix. We performed simultaneous fitting of the analytical expressions to the experimental data to estimate values of the quadrupolar coupling frequency ωQ/2π, residual quadrupolar coupling ω Q / 2 π , and corresponding spherical order parameter S 0 * , which showed a linear dependence on the extent of uniform hydrogel stretching and compression. The analytical expressions were completely concordant with the numerical approach. The insights gained here can be extended to more complicated (biological) systems such as 23Na+ bound to proteins or located inside and outside living cells in high-field NMR experiments and, by extension, to the anisotropic environments found in vivo with 23Na magnetic resonance imaging. The quantum adiabatic method, which maintains populations in their instantaneous eigenstates throughout the state evolution, is an established and often a preferred choice for state preparation and manipulation. Although it minimizes the driving cost significantly, its slow speed is a severe limitation in noisy intermediate-scale quantum era technologies. Since adiabatic paths are extensive in many physical processes, it is of broader interest to achieve adiabaticity at a much faster rate. Shortcuts to adiabaticity techniques, which overcome the slow adiabatic process by driving the system faster through non-adiabatic paths, have seen increased attention recently. The extraordinarily long lifetime of the long-lived singlet states (LLS) in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), established over the past decade, has opened several important applications ranging from spectroscopy to biomedical imaging. Various methods, including adiabatic methods, are already being used to prepare LLS. In this article, we report the use of counterdiabatic driving (CD) to speed up LLS preparation with faster drives. The coherent transfer of electron spin polarization to nuclei by means of a microwave pulse sequence is a promising new approach to enhancing the sensitivity of solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The development of pulse sequences for dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) of bulk nuclei is far from complete, as is the understanding of what makes a good DNP sequence. In this context, we introduce a new sequence, termed Two-Pulse Phase Modulation (TPPM) DNP. We provide a general theoretical description for electron–proton polarization transfer by periodic DNP pulse sequences and find it in excellent agreement with numerical simulations. In experiments at 1.2 T, TPPM DNP generates a higher gain in sensitivity than existing sequences XiX (X-inverse-X) and TOP (Time-Optimized Pulsed) DNP but does so at relatively high nutation frequencies. In contrast, we find that the XiX sequence performs very well at nutation frequencies as low as 7 MHz. A combination of theoretical analysis and experimental investigation makes clear that fast electron–proton polarization transfer, due to a well-preserved dipolar coupling in the effective Hamiltonian, correlates with a short build-up time of the dynamic nuclear polarization of the bulk. Experiments further show that the performances of XiX and TOP DNP are affected differently by the concentration of the polarizing agent. To investigate the novel quantum dynamic behaviors of magnetic materials that arise from complex spin–spin interactions, it is necessary to probe the magnetic response at a speed greater than the spin-relaxation and dephasing processes. Recently developed two-dimensional (2D) terahertz magnetic resonance (THz-MR) spectroscopy techniques use the magnetic components of laser pulses, and this allows investigation of the details of the ultrafast dynamics of spin systems. For such investigations, quantum treatment—not only of the spin system itself but also of the environment surrounding the spin system—is important. In our method, based on the theory of multidimensional optical spectroscopy, we formulate nonlinear THz-MR spectra using an approach based on the numerically rigorous hierarchical equations of motion. We conduct numerical calculations of both linear (1D) and 2D THz-MR spectra for a linear chiral spin chain. The pitch and direction of chirality (clockwise or anticlockwise) are determined by the strength and sign of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI). We show that not only the strength but also the sign of the DMI can be evaluated through the use of 2D THz-MR spectroscopic measurements, while 1D measurements allow us to determine only the strength. Ultraviolet (UV) photolysis of nitrite ions (NO2−) in aqueous solutions produces a suite of radicals, viz., NO·, O−, ·OH, and ·NO2. The O− and NO· radicals are initially formed from the dissociation of photoexcited NO2−. The O− radical undergoes reversible proton transfer with water to generate ·OH. Both ·OH and O− oxidize the NO2− to ·NO2 radicals. The reactions of ·OH occur at solution diffusion limits, which are influenced by the nature of the dissolved cations and anions. Here, we systematically varied the alkali metal cation, spanning the range from strongly to weakly hydrating ions, and measured the production of NO·, ·OH, and ·NO2 radicals during UV photolysis of alkaline nitrite solutions using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy with nitromethane spin trapping. Comparing the data for the different alkali cations revealed that the nature of the cation had a significant effect on production of all three radical species. Radical production was inhibited in solutions with high charge density cations, e.g., lithium, and promoted in solutions containing low charge density cations, e.g., cesium. Through complementary investigations with multinuclear single pulse direct excitation nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and pulsed field gradient NMR diffusometry, cation-controlled solution structures and extent of NO2− solvation were determined to alter the initial yields of ·NO and ·OH radicals as well as alter the reactivity of NO2− toward ·OH, impacting the production of ·NO2. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is one of the indispensable techniques in chemistry because it enables us to obtain accurate information on the chemical, electronic, and dynamic properties of molecules. Computational simulation of the NMR spectra requires time-consuming density functional theory (DFT) calculations for an ensemble of molecular conformations. For large flexible molecules, it is considered too high-cost since it requires time-averaging of the instantaneous chemical shifts of each nuclear spin across the conformational space of molecules for NMR timescales. Here, we present a Gaussian process/deep kernel learning-based machine learning (ML) method for enabling us to predict, average in time, and analyze the instantaneous chemical shifts of conformations in the molecular dynamics trajectory. We demonstrate the use of the method by computing the averaged 1H and 13C chemical shifts of each nuclear spin of a trefoil knot molecule consisting of 24 para-connected benzene rings (240 atoms). By training ML model with the chemical shift data obtained from DFT calculations, we predicted chemical shifts for each conformation during dynamics. We were able to observe the merging of the time-averaged chemical shifts of each nuclear spin in a singlet 1H NMR peak and two 13C NMR peaks for the knot molecule, in agreement with experimental measurements. The unique feature of the presented method is the use of the learned low-dimensional deep kernel representation of local spin environments for comparing and analyzing the local chemical environment histories of spins during dynamics. It allowed us to identify two groups of protons in the knot molecule, which implies that the observed singlet 1H NMR peak could be composed of the contributions from protons with two distinct local chemical environments. A set of organic/inorganic layered materials was obtained by functionalizing a montmorillonite-containing bentonite natural clay with linear aliphatic C6 or C7 aldehydes through a cost-effective and technologically simple incipient-wetness deposition method. The solids were investigated by means of a multi-technique approach (X-ray powder diffraction, XRPD, scanning electron microscopy, SEM, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, FT-IR, thermogravimetric analysis, TGA, elemental analysis and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, ssNMR) to clarify the nature of the deposited organic species and the mode of interaction between the aldehyde and the clay. Since both natural clays and short-chain linear aldehydes find application as alternative strategies in the control of the olive fruit fly, Bactrocera oleae, the hybrid layered materials were tested under real-life conditions and their insect-inhibiting capability was evaluated in open-field trials on olive tree orchards in Tuscany, Central Italy. Specific tests were conducted to evaluate the resistance of the solids to weathering and their capability to provide a constant and long-lasting release of the bioactive ingredient. Aldehyde-containing bentonite clays have shown promising performance in controlling B. oleae infestation (with up to 86–95% reduction of affected olive fruits) in open-field trials across two years in two locations with different pedological and meteo-climatic characteristics. Six organotin(IV) compounds (1–6) have been synthesized by reaction of the polydentate pro-ligands H3L and H2L, respectively, with the corresponding diorganotin chlorides. All of the compounds were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, 1H, 13C{1H}, and 119Sn (1H) NMR spectroscopy, HRMS spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The solid-state structures show that all of the compounds are monomeric (except compound 3) and contain a penta-coordinated tin atom. Compound 3 is a dimer with two hexa-coordinated tin atoms. Compounds 1–3 contain a non-coordinated hydroxymethyl group. All of the compounds have been screened for their catalytic efficacy in the synthesis of 1,2 disubstituted benzimidazoles using o-phenylenediamine and aldehyde derivatives. It has been observed that both the Lewis acidic Sn(IV) centre and the hydroxymethyl group (hydrogen bond donor) catalyse the reactions with a product yield of up to 92%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inverse sandwich complexes of Yb and Sm stabilized by a bulky β‐diketiminate (BDI) ligand have been prepared: (BDI)Ln(η6,η6‐C6H6)Ln(BDI); Ln=lanthanide. Coordinated benzene ligands can be neutral, di‐anionic or, often controversially discussed, even tetra‐anionic. The formal charge on benzene is correlated to assignment of the metal oxidation state which generally poses a problem. Herein, we take advantage of the structural similarities found when comparing CaII with YbII, and SrII with SmII complexes. In this work, we found an excellent overlap of the Ca/Yb inverse sandwich structures but a striking difference for the Sr/Sm pair. The much shorter Sm−N and Sm‐C6H6 distances are strong evidence for a SmIII‐benzene−4‐SmIII assignment. The preparation of dizirconium complexes based on a novel bis(indenyl)-(E/Z)-stilbene platform was explored. Negishi coupling between the in situ-generated diorganozincates obtained from the respective o/m/p-(E/Z)-dibromostilbenes and the bromo-functionalized zirconocene (η5-Cp*)(η5-2-methyl-4-bromoindenyl)ZrCl2, or, alternatively, the preparation of bis(indene)stilbene pro-ligands {o/m/p-(E/Z)-BisIndSB}H2 through Negishi coupling of the corresponding dibromostilbenes with 4-bromoindene and subsequent metallation/transmetallation with Cp*ZrCl3 or Zr(NMe2)4, allowed the preparation of a series of dinuclear complexes. These were analyzed by NMR spectroscopy and some of them by iASAP-mass spectrometry and by X-ray diffraction studies. Experimental results were compared with DFT modelling of the targeted dinuclear complexes evidencing that the (E)-complexes are more stable by 7–11 kcal mol−1 than their (Z)-analogues. Thermal, uncontrolled isomerization of (Z)- to (E)-stilbene platform was observed experimentally for some systems, in the course of their synthesis, either from the (Z)-dibromostilbene reagent or on the dinuclear complexes resulting from the Negishi coupling. Photoisomerization of the (E)- and (Z)-{BisIndSB}H2 proligands and of complexes {o-(E)-BisIndSB}(Zr(NMe2)3)2 and {m-(E)-BisIndSB}(ZrCl2Cp*)2 was investigated under a variety of conditions. It proved effective for the proligands but induced decomposition of the dizirconium complexes. Time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) computations were performed to identify unambiguously the nature of the observed absorption bands and account for decomposition of the complexes. Preliminary ethylene/1-hexene homo- and copolymerization investigations did not evidence putative cooperativity phenomena within these dinuclear systems nor significantly differentiated behavior between the (Z)- and (E)-isomers of a given type of complex under the reaction conditions investigated. The salt metathesis of a boryl-ethynyl lithium salt {[(HCDipN)2]B-CC-Li} with a monochlorosilylene [LSi(:)Cl; L = PhC(NtBu)2] produced an isolable boryl-ethynyl silylene {1; [(HCDipN)2]B–C≡C–Si(L)}. The Si(II) center in 1 possesses a nonbonding lone pair and forms a covalent bond with the ethynyl group. The characterization of 1 was carried out by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray structure analysis and DFT calculations. While π‐complexes of C=C bonds are ubiquitous in organometallic chemistry, analogous complexes of the isoelectronic but strongly polarized B=N double bond of aminoboranes are extremely scarce. To address this gap, a diphosphine‐aminoborane ligand (PhDPBAiPr) is introduced and its coordination with group 10 metals is investigated. The B=N bond does not coordinate to the metal in Pt(0) and Pd(II) complexes. In contrast, side‐on coordination of the B=N bond is observed in the Ni(0) complex (PhDPBAiPr)Ni(NCPh), and the X‐ray crystal structure reveals B−N bond elongation compared to the free ligand. The choice of co‐ligand strongly influences the presence or absence of side‐on coordination at Ni(0) as evidenced by NMR spectroscopy. While the B=N π‐complex is geometrically similar to C=C analogues, a bonding analysis reveals that the interaction of the B=N motif with the electron‐rich Ni(0) center is best described as 3c4e hyperbond, in which Ni and N are competing for the empty orbital on B. Chemical activation of the nuclear singlet state of dihydrogen, para‐hydrogen, can dramatically increase the sensitivity of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging. Here, we show that the highly reversible activation of para‐hydrogen by an iridium pyridylpyrrolide complex is capable of producing this hyperpolarisation effect. Bound alkene ligands exhibit signal enhancement without reduction to alkanes, which is in contrast to the most widely used hyperpolarisation catalysts. The complex is recoverable due to the highly reversible binding and release of H2, and result in enhanced hydride signals in a wide range of coordinating and non‐coordinating deuterated solvents. Synthetic modification of the ligand substituents and the addition of co‐ligands show a strong dependence of chemical structure on reactivity, which reveals an untapped potential to exploit pyridylpyrrolides as ligands in the development of tunable para‐hydrogen induced hyperpolarisation catalysts or molecular probes. Recently-developed polarisation-transfer techniques are applied to the 103Rh NMR of the Rh(acac)3 coordination complex in solution. Four-bond 1H-103Rh J-couplings of around 0.39 Hz are exploited to enhance the 103Rh NMR signal and to estimate the 103Rh T 1 and T 2 relaxation times as a function of field and temperature. The 103Rh longitudinal T 1 relaxation in Rh(acac)3 is shown to be dominated by the spin-rotation mechanism, with an additional field-dependent contribution from the 103Rh chemical shift anisotropy. Increasing evidence suggests a role of neuroinflammation in substance use disorders (SUDs). This Review presents findings from neuroimaging studies assessing brain markers of inflammation in vivo in individuals with SUDs. Most studies investigated the translocator protein 18 kDa (TSPO) using PET; neuroimmune markers myo-inositol, choline-containing compounds, and N-acetyl aspartate using magnetic resonance spectroscopy; and fractional anisotropy using MRI. Study findings have contributed to a greater understanding of neuroimmune function in the pathophysiology of SUDs, including its temporal dynamics (i.e., acute versus chronic substance use) and new targets for SUD treatment. A series of rigid polystyrene‐based photoelastomers, named sty‐PM‐x, with bionic catechol pendants were synthesized through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and deprotection techniques. These polymers were characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, and thermogravimetric analysis. Additionally, photophysical properties of the polymers were investigated using UV‐visible absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence emission spectroscopy. Mechanical properties were evaluated through tensile tests, while interfacial adhesion was determined through cross‐cut tests. Experimental results reveal that photoelastomers, sty‐PM‐x, exhibit excellent photophysical properties, stretchability, and interfacial adhesion. Purpose: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) carries a relatively poor prognosis and requires multimodal prognostication to guide clinical decisions. Identification of previously unrecognized metabolic routes associated with patient outcome may contribute to future biomarker discovery. In OHCA, inhaled xenon elicits neuro- and cardioprotection. However, the metabolic effects remain unknown. Materials and methods: In this post-hoc study of the randomised, 2-group, single-blind, phase 2 Xe-Hypotheca trial, 110 OHCA survivors were randomised 1:1 to receive targeted temperature management (TTM) at 33°C with or without inhaled xenon during 24 h. Blood samples for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy metabolic profiling were drawn upon admission, at 24 and 72 h. Results: At 24 h, increased lactate, adjusted hazard-ratio 2.25, 95% CI [1.53; 3.30], p<0.001, and decreased branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) leucine 0.64 [0.5; 0.82], p = 0.007, and valine 0.37 [0.22; 0.63], p = 0.003, associated with 6-month mortality. At 72 h, increased lactate 2.77 [1.76; 4.36], p<0.001, and alanine 2.43 [1.56; 3.78], p = 0.001, and decreased small HDL cholesterol ester content (S-HDL-CE) 0.36 [0.19; 0.68], p = 0.021, associated with mortality. No difference was observed between xenon and control groups. Conclusions: In OHCA patients receiving TTM with or without xenon, high lactate and alanine and decreased BCAAs and S-HDL-CE associated with increased mortality. It remains to be established whether current observations on BCAAs, and possibly alanine and lactate, could reflect neural damage via their roles in the metabolism of the neurotransmitter glutamate. Xenon did not significantly alter the measured metabolic profile, a potentially beneficial attribute in the context of compromised ICU patients. The latest research into the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) has included several cognitive deficits related to hippocampal functioning. However, current clinical research fails to consider the full extent of the heterogeneous cognitive spectrum of AD, resulting in a lack of the specific methods required to draw definitive diagnostic and therapeutic conclusions. This also includes in-vivo metabolic measurements for tailoring the diagnostic and therapeutic regimens in humans with AD. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) are two novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that must be modified to treat AD. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the underlying therapeutic role of rTMS in humans with AD by evaluating the in-vivo hippocampal metabolites before and after rTMS treatment. Based on the data obtained using the fMRI data in our previous study and on the references reported in the literature, in the present study, we decided to use hippocampal NAA data after rTMS stimulation and found a significant increase in NAA levels. The synthesis and structural characterization of three families of coordination complexes synthesized from 4′‐phenyl‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine (8, Ph‐TPY), 4′‐(4‐chlorophenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine (9, ClPh‐TPY) and 4′‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine (10, MeOPh‐TPY) ligands with the divalent metals Co2+, Fe2+, Mn2+ and Ni2+ are reported. The compounds were synthesized from a 1:2 mixture of the metal and ligand, resulting in a series of complexes with the general formula [M(R‐TPY)2](ClO4)2 (where M = Co2+, Fe2+, Mn2+ and Ni2+, and R‐TPY = Ph‐TPY, ClPh‐TPY and MeOPh‐TPY). The general formula and structural and supramolecular features were determinated by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction for bis(4′‐phenyl‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine)nickel(II) bis(perchlorate), [Ni(C21H15N3)2](ClO4)2 or [Ni(Ph‐TPY)2](ClO4)2, bis[4′‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine]manganese(II) bis(perchlorate), [Mn(C22H17N3O)2](ClO4)2 or [Mn(MeOPh‐TPY)2](ClO4)2, and bis(4′‐phenyl‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine)manganese(II) bis(perchlorate), [Mn(C21H15N3)2](ClO4)2 or [Mn(Ph‐TPY)2](ClO4)2. Global climate change has altered forest productivity across the globe. Although extreme drought and temperature have lowered forest productivity in some regions, increased productivity has been observed in many forests over the last few decades due to increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide, temperature, and nitrogen (N) deposition. These factors can lead to changes in both the quantity and quality of litterfall and root inputs to soil. Additionally, few studies have investigated multifactorial treatments (e.g., detrital changes and N deposition), on soil carbon (C) sequestration. To investigate the long-term compositional changes to soil organic matter (SOM) in response to litter and N inputs, soil samples were collected from the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) Detrital Input and Removal Treatment (DIRT) site after 15 years of experimental treatments. The samples were characterized using elemental analysis, targeted SOM compound analyses, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and microbial biomass and community composition measurements. The exclusions of C inputs (litter and/or roots) resulted in molecular-level biogeochemical changes, however, the soils at UMBS are seemingly more resistant to losses in soil C compared to other DIRT studies. Although the addition treatments (Double Litter, Double Wood, Double Litter + N, and N) led to increased soil C concentrations at UMBS, we found evidence for enhanced SOM decomposition occurring with litter additions. Notably, the observations made from the concurrent treatment of Double Litter + N demonstrated that the responses of individual treatments are not representative of simultaneous applications. Collectively, these results demonstrate that soil C biogeochemistry is sensitive to fluctuations in C and N deposition and overall, these processes are dictated by site-specific ecological properties. Recently, we applied solution 2H-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (2H NMR) to analyze the water (deuterium oxide, D2O) structure in several biopolymers at ambient temperature. We established that polymers with good blood compatibility (i.e. poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) (PMEA)) have water observed at high magnetic fields (upfield) compared with bulk water. Polymers containing poly(propylene glycol) (PPG) or poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) exhibit good compatibility; however, the reason for this remains unclear. In addition, reports on the blood compatibility of PPO/PPG are limited. Therefore, PPG diester (PPGest) was prepared as a model polymer, and its blood compatibility and water structure were investigated. PPGest exhibited excellent blood compatibility. The water in PPGest was observed upfield by 2H NMR, and it was defined as non-freezing water via differential scanning calorimetry. Based on these observations, the relationship between the blood compatibility and water structure of PPGest is discussed by comparing with those of PMEA, and the reason for the good performance of PPG/PPO-based polymers is discussed. A series of palladium (II) and platinum (II) selenolate complexes have been isolated depending upon the nature of the phosphine ligand. The substitution reaction of [PdCl2(PPh3)2] with two equivalents of NaSeC5H3(5-Me)N resulted in the hexanuclear complex [Pd6Br0.87Cl1.13{2-SeC5H3(5-Me)N2}2(PPh3)6] (1a) whereas a chelated compound [Pt{κ-Se, κ-N: SeC5H3(5-Me)N}{SeC5H3(5-Me)N}(PPh3)] (1b) has been obtained in the case of [PtCl2(PPh3)2]. However, chelated phosphine as an ancillary ligand with a similar reaction by using [PtCl2(P∩P)] (P∩P = dppm, dppe) yielded cis-configured monomer [Pt{2-SeC5H3(5-Me)N}2(P∩P)]. The trinuclear complexes [M3(µ-Se)3(dppp)3]2+ [M = Pd (2d), Pt (2e)] were isolated by reactions of [MCl2(dppp)] (M = Pd, Pt) with NaSeC5H3(5-Me)N via facile cleavage of Se-C bond in presence of chlorinated solvents. All the synthesized complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, 1H, 31P{1H}, 77Se{1H} NMR spectroscopy. The molecular structure of complexes [Pd6Br0.87Cl1.13{2-SeC5H3(5-Me)}2(PPh3)6] (1a) and [Pt{2-SeC5H3(5-Me)N}2(dppm)].C6H5CH3 (2a) were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. A Pt‐ZSM5 catalyst, coked during propane dehydrogenation and regenerated with lean air, was studied by various in‐situ and ex‐situ methods. A newly developed isothermal ceramic flat‐bed reactor with inert surfaces is described and used in the experiments. Comparative measurements successfully demonstrated that temperature alone has no effect on the catalyst and that changes in conversion and selectivity are due to coke formation. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies using triphenylphosphine probe molecules of activated and deactivated samples showed the localization of the Pt clusters inside and outside the zeolite pores. Lipid oxidation is a major cause of quality deterioration that decreases the shelf-life of muscle-based foods (red meat, poultry, and fish), in which heme proteins, particularly hemoglobin and myoglobin, are the primary pro-oxidants. Due to increasing consumer concerns over synthetic chemicals, extensive research has been carried out on natural antioxidants, especially plant polyphenols. The conventional opinion suggests that polyphenols inhibit lipid oxidation of muscle foods primarily owing to their strong hydrogen-donating and transition metal-chelating activities. Recent developments in analytical techniques (e.g., protein crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, fluorescence anisotropy, and molecular docking simulation) allow deeper understanding of the molecular interaction of polyphenols with heme proteins, phospholipid membrane, reactive oxygen species, and reactive carbonyl species; hence, novel hypotheses regarding their antioxidant mechanisms have been formulated. In this review, we summarize five direct and three indirect pathways by which polyphenols inhibit heme protein-mediated lipid oxidation in muscle foods. Benchtop NMR provides improved accessibility in terms of cost, space, and technical expertise. In turn, this encourages new users into the field of NMR spectroscopy. Unfortunately, many interesting samples in education and research, from beer to whole blood, contain significant amounts of water that require suppression in 1H NMR in order to recover sample information. However, due to the significant reduction in chemical shift dispersion in benchtop NMR systems, the sample signals are much closer to the water resonance compared to those in a corresponding high‐field NMR spectrum. Therefore, simply translating solvent suppression experiments intended for high‐field NMR instruments to benchtop NMR systems without careful consideration can be problematic. In this study, the effectiveness of several popular water suppression schemes was evaluated for benchtop NMR applications. Emphasis is placed on pulse sequences with no, or few, adjustable parameters making them easy to implement. These fall into two main categories: (1) those based on Pre‐SAT including Pre‐SAT, PURGE, NOESY‐PR, and g‐NOESY‐PR and (2) those based on binomial inversion including JRS and W5‐WATERGATE. Among these schemes, solvent suppression sequences based on Pre‐SAT offer a general approach for easy solvent suppression for samples with higher analyte concentrations (sucrose standard and Redbull™). However, for human urine, binomial‐like sequences were required. In summary, it is demonstrated that highly efficient water suppression approaches can be implemented on benchtop NMR systems in a simple manner, despite the limited spectral dispersion, further illustrating the potential for widespread implementation of these approaches in education and research. Benchtop diffusion nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used to perform quantitative monitoring of enzymatic hydrolysis. The study aimed to test the feasibility of the technology to characterize enzymatic hydrolysis processes in real time. Diffusion ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) was used to measure the signal intensity and apparent self‐diffusion constant of solubilized protein in hydrolysate. The NMR technique was tested on an enzymatic hydrolysis reaction of red cod, a lean white fish, by the endopeptidase alcalase at 50°C. Hydrolysate samples were manually transferred from the reaction vessel to the NMR equipment. Measurement time was approximately 3 min per time point. The signal intensity from the DOSY experiment was used to measure protein concentration and the apparent self‐diffusion constant was converted into an average molecular weight and an estimated degree of hydrolysis. These values were plotted as a function of time and both the rate of solubilization and the rate of protein breakdown could be calculated. In addition to being rapid and noninvasive, DOSY using benchtop NMR spectroscopy has an advantage compared with other enzymatic hydrolysis characterization methods as it gives a direct measure of average protein size; many functional properties of proteins are strongly influenced by protein size. Therefore, a method to give protein concentration and average size in real time will allow operators to more tightly control production from enzymatic hydrolysis. This study intended to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of using clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomics features to predict lymphovascular invasion (LVI) status in breast cancer (BC) patients. A total of 182 BC patients were retrospectively collected and randomly divided into a training set (n = 127) and a validation set (n = 55) in a 7:3 ratio. Based on pathological examination results, the training set was further divided into LVI group (n = 60) and non-LVI group (n = 67), and the validation set was divided into LVI group (n = 24) and non-LVI group (n = 31). General data and MRI examination indicators were compared. Multivariate logistic regression was utilized to analyze MRI radiomics features and clinically relevant indicators that were significant in the baseline information of patients in training set, independent risk factors were identified, and a logistic regression model was built. The accuracy of logistic model was validated using ROC curves in training and validation sets. Age, pathohistological classification, tumor length, tumor width, presence or absence of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) cho peak, presence or absence of spicule sign, peritumoral enhancement, and peritumoral edema were statistically significant (P < 0.05) between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis presented that spicule and peritumoral edema were independent risk factors for LVI in BC patients (P < 0.05). The ROC curve illustrated that AUC of the logistic regression model in the training set was 0.807 (95%CI: 0.730–0.885) and that in the validation set was 0.837 (95%CI: 0.731–0.944). Radiomics features of spicule sign and peritumoral edema were independent risk factors for LVI in BC patients. A logistic regression model based on these factors, along with age, could accurately predict LVI occurrence in BC patients, providing data support for diagnosis and modeling of LVI in BC patients. We conducted a comprehensive metabolomic analysis of plasma samples obtained from pregnant women who displayed varying post-vaccination antibody titers after receiving mRNA-1273-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. The study involved 62 pregnant women, all of whom had been vaccinated after reaching 24 weeks of gestation. To quantify post-vaccination plasma antibody titers, we employed binding antibody units (BAU) in accordance with the World Health Organization International Standard. Subsequently, we classified the study participants into three distinct BAU/mL categories: those with high titers (above 2000), medium titers (ranging from 1000 to 2000), and low titers (below 1000). Plasma metabolomic profiling was conducted using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and the obtained data were correlated with the categorized antibody titers. Notably, in pregnant women exhibiting elevated anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody titers, reduced plasma concentrations of acetate and urea were observed. A significant negative correlation between these compounds and antibody titers was also evident. An analysis of metabolomics pathways revealed significant inverse associations between antibody titers and four distinct amino acid metabolic pathways: (1) biosynthesis of phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan; (2) biosynthesis of valine, leucine, and isoleucine; (3) phenylalanine metabolism; and (4) degradation of valine, leucine, and isoleucine. Additionally, an association between the synthesis and degradation pathways of ketone bodies was evident. In conclusion, we identified different metabolic pathways that underlie the diverse humoral responses triggered by COVID-19 mRNA vaccines during pregnancy. Our data hold significant implications for refining COVID-19 vaccination approaches in expectant mothers. To establish a comprehensively understood method is important to detect their bonding and debonding behaviors. In this paper, rheological methods, including Three Interval Thixotropy tests (3ITT) and Tack test modes were used for characterizing series of UPSAs. Vinyl groups were successfully grafted onto the acrylate copolymer chains through isocyanate condensation reactions, which were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. From the maximum normal force in the Tack test modes, UPSAs after UV irradiation showed obvious debonding behaviors in short-time stress analysis. The recovery percentage of the storage modulus in 3ITT tests indicated that 0.6 wt% isocyanate curing agent made the UPSAs good resistance to deformation. Under the limit of 30 wt% pentaerythritol diacrylate (PETA), the rheological adhesion performance of UPSAs increases accordingly with the PETA content, which was also confirmed by 180° peel strength tests. From the microscope images of the wafer surfaces after peeling off the UPSA tapes, rheological characterization methods can help designing UPSAs with clean debonding properties. Fragility is commonly quantified as the magnitude of change in viscosity at a temperature close to the glass transition temperature (Tg). It is a critical characteristic of melts used in scientific and industrial applications. The fragility of silicate melts generally increases with the depolymerization of silicate anions upon the addition of alkali or alkaline earth oxides. However, the effects of oxide additives on the fragility of aluminosilicate melts remain unclear. In this study, the effect of CaO or K2O addition on the viscosity of the 36CaO–51SiO2–13Al2O3 (mol.%) melt for the wide viscosity range of 10−1–1012 Pa s was studied. The relationship between the logarithmic viscosity and Tg‐scaled temperature indicated that the melt fragility increased with the addition of CaO, whereas the addition of K2O reduced the fragility when the additive content of CaO or K2O was less than 10.8 mol.%. The effect of the addition of K2O on fragility cannot be explained by the depolymerization of silicate anions alone. Raman and 27Al nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies of the glasses indicated that a decrease in the level of distortion of the AlO4 tetrahedra decreased the fragility of the aluminosilicate melt. Introduction: The world is experiencing exponential growth in communication, especially wireless communication. Wireless connectivity has recently become a part of everyone's daily life. Recent developments in low-cost, low-power, and miniature devices contribute to a significant rise in radiofrequency-electromagnetic field (RF-EM) radiation exposure in our environment, raising concern over its effect on biological systems. The inconsistent and conflicting research results make it difficult to draw definite conclusions about how RF-EM radiation affects living things. Objectives: This study identified two micro-environments based on their level of exposure to cellular RF-EM radiation, one with significantly less exposure and another with very high exposure to RF-EM radiation. Emphasis is given to studying the metabolites in the urine samples of humans naturally exposed to these two different microenvironments to understand short-term metabolic dysregulations. Methods: Untargeted 1H NMR spectroscopy was employed for metabolomics analyses to identify dysregulated metabolites. A total of 60 subjects were recruited with 5 ml urine samples each. These subjects were divided into two groups: one highly exposed to RF-EM (n = 30) and the other consisting of low-exposure populations (n = 30). Results: The study found that the twenty-nine metabolites were dysregulated. Among them, 19 were downregulated, and 10 were upregulated. In particular, Glyoxylate and dicarboxylate and the TCA cycle metabolism pathway have been perturbed. The dysregulated metabolites were validated using the ROC curve analysis. Conclusion: Untargeted urine metabolomics was conducted to identify dysregulated metabolites linked to RF-EM radiation exposure. Preliminary findings suggest a connection between oxidative stress and gut microbiota imbalance. However, further research is needed to validate these biomarkers and understand the effects of RF-EM radiation on human health. Further research is needed with a diverse population. In this research, a new Ag(I) complex, namely, [Ag(5‐chloro‐1H‐benzimidazole)2(NO3)], has been synthesized using the benzimidazole‐based ligand 5‐chloro‐1H‐benzimidazole (5ClBZ). Ag(I) complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, UV‐Vis, FT‐IR, and 1H NMR spectroscopy, and DFT analysis was used. The free ligand and its Ag(I) complexes were tried for their biochemical properties, including antioxidant and antidiabetic properties. To study the molecular structures of the title compounds, in silico ADME/Tox research was performed on the newly made complex and free ligand. The empirical guidelines relating to ADME were utilized to conduct molecular docking simulations and in‐depth drug‐likeness profiling. This was carried out to validate the conclusions and identify exact binding interactions. Based on the study's findings, it has been determined that these new compounds have significant potential as powerful therapeutic agents for controlling antioxidant and antidiabetic activities. In the present study, cellulose@SP@catechin@Fe3O4 nanocomposite underwent synthesis and characterization employing various analytical techniques, including Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), field‐emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, vibrating sample magnetometry, X‐ray powder diffraction, and X‐ray spectroscopy. This reusable and efficient nanocomposite facilitated the synthesis of azo‐linked 4‐arylidene‐benzodiazepine, resulting in products with high yields. Characterization of these products was conducted utilizing 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), 13C NMR, and FT‐IR spectral data alongside mass analyses. Redox‐switchable catalysis is an efficient process to modulate the activity and/or selectivity in the polymerization with greater polymerization control and precision. In this work, the ferrocenyl‐functionalized diarylamines 4‐Fc‐C6H4NHC6H5 (HL1), 4‐Fc‐C6H4NH(2,6‐Me2C6H3) (HL2), and 2,6‐iPr2–4‐Fc‐C6H2NHC6H5 (HL3) were prepared and used as pro‐ligands to obtain the arylamido‐ligated rare‐earth metal complexes. Treatment of RE (CH2C6H4NMe2‐o)3 with 1 equiv. of HL1–3 in toluene afforded the ferrocenyl‐functionalized‐arylamido rare‐earth metal bis(o‐dimethylaminobenzyl) complexes L1Sc(CH2C6H4NMe2‐o)2 (1), L2RE(CH2C6H4NMe2‐o)2 (RE = Sc (2), Y (3)), and L3Y(CH2C6H4NMe2‐o)2 (4) in good yields. The compositions of these complexes were verified by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. HL1 and HL3 were subjected to single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Electrochemical and NMR studies indicated that 4 could be oxidized with AgBF4 to generate the corresponding oxidized species 4ox, which could be facilely reduced back to 4 by use of CoCp2 as the reductant. The redox‐reversible ability between 4 and 4ox gave the chance to modulate the reactivity by switching the oxidized and reduced forms of one complex. For a controlled polymerization of ε‐caprolactone, 4 was active, and the polymerization process could be easily "on/off" switched by the redox reaction occurred on the ferrocenyl moiety. With many viable strategies in the therapeutic pipeline, upcoming clinical trials in hereditary and sporadic degenerative ataxias will benefit from non-invasive MRI biomarkers for patient stratification and the evaluation of therapies. The MRI Biomarkers Working Group of the Ataxia Global Initiative therefore devised guidelines to facilitate harmonized MRI data acquisition in clinical research and trials in ataxias. Recommendations are provided for a basic structural MRI protocol that can be used for clinical care and for an advanced multi-modal MRI protocol relevant for research and trial settings. The advanced protocol consists of modalities with demonstrated utility for tracking brain changes in degenerative ataxias and includes structural MRI, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, diffusion MRI, quantitative susceptibility mapping, and resting-state functional MRI. Acceptable ranges of acquisition parameters are provided to accommodate diverse scanner hardware in research and clinical contexts while maintaining a minimum standard of data quality. Important technical considerations in setting up an advanced multi-modal protocol are outlined, including the order of pulse sequences, and example software packages commonly used for data analysis are provided. Outcome measures most relevant for ataxias are highlighted with use cases from recent ataxia literature. Finally, to facilitate access to the recommendations by the ataxia clinical and research community, examples of datasets collected with the recommended parameters are provided and platform-specific protocols are shared via the Open Science Framework. Glyceryl lactate (GlyLA) was synthesized through the esterification of glycerol (Gly) and lactic acid (LA) to plasticize whey protein concentrate (WPC) films with three different ratios of WPC to plasticizer (85, 90, and 100% w/w). LA was also introduced as a new plasticizer of whey protein films and compared in similar contents. Gly-plasticized films were also used as control groups. The synthesized GlyLA, including compatible esterification degree with WPC, was characterized by Fourier transform infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-NMR) analyses. Then, the plasticizing effect of different types of plasticizers on the optical, thermal, mechanical, and water resistivity properties of the prepared films was evaluated. FTIR in attenuated total reflectance (ATR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), tensile measurements, and cup method were also employed to examine the molecular structure, transition temperatures, mechanical resistivity, and water vapor permeability (WVP) of the modified films. The results showed a lower glasstransition temperature (Tg) and better ductility. By Increasing plasticizer content, solubility and WVP were increased in all groups. Furthermore, WPC-based films plasticized with 80 or 90% w/w of LA and GlyLA exhibited not only higher tensile strength and flexibility but also remarkably lower WVP than Gly plasticized films, turning them into potential alternatives for application as food packaging.
