Distillery industries are the most water-consuming industries discharging a large amount of wastewater that contain a high organic load. Hence it is first treated in biodigester where significant organics reduces (50–60%) and the outcome of biodigester is commonly known as biodigester effluent (BDE). The present study is an attempt to treat BDE in terms of COD and color removal using a batch electrocoagulation reactor (ECR) where stainless steel (SS) is used as an electrode. To optimize the four independent parameters namely initial pH (pHi: 3.5–9.5), current density (j: 49.5–247 A/m2), electrode gap (g: 1.2–3.2 cm), and reaction time (t: 20–100 min) on the color and COD reduction efficiency, a central composite design (CCD) experiment is applied to evaluate the individual and interactive effects of these parameters. The high coefficients of determination for color (R 2 = 0.9989) and COD (R 2 = 0.9981) were obtained by analysis of variance (ANOVA) between the experimental data and the predicted data using a second-order regression model. At the optimum condition color and COD removal of 81.4 and 91.9%, respectively, were observed. A material balance of SS has also been incorporated.

Aim & Objective: To study the association of extended screen time on sleep pattern and calorie intake among college students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Settings and Design: Observational study was conducted using ‘Google forms’ to collect data on sleep and food intake among 60 college-going students. This article addresses automatic license plate recognizer as a key element of today’s fast trending approaches used for smart city development. The deployment of heavy manual forces is the biggest challenge in the path of efficient execution of transportation rules in metro cities. In order to help the government in achieving this milestone, a thorough research helped in developing a product which could very effectively and efficiently be used in the implementation of odd/even transport rule coined by the NCT Government, Delhi. Automatic license plate recognition has become the latest trend in the management of contemporary urban and national street arrangements, and this latest trend has been blended with programming in python to enable a handy product for the government to easily enable them to distinguish between the faulty and genuine vehicles without much need of manual forces. This article throws light on the techniques used for making this product and the literature survey done on the previously existing techniques.

Moisture plays a vital role in several aspects of storage, drying, processing of grains and to understand the properties of grains. In general, the moisture content in grains can be measured by direct and indirect methods. Schematically, the former includes gravimetric method whereas the latter comprises resistance, capacitance-based measurements. Also, the direct method has been proved to be more time-consuming in comparison to the indirect one. Apart from these methods, calorimetry based measurements, the Karl Fischer method, is restricted to their laboratory research purpose and is not being used in industries for real-time measurement. In this article, a new capacitance-based method for grain moisture measurement has been developed which relies upon the integration of IC555 timer. The experimental findings revealed that with an increase in mean frequency value from 343310.04 to 355271.16, the capacitance values dropped from 2.03446369 to 1.9678978 respectively and these results have proved to be economical and reliable in terms of providing a promising relationship between the grain moisture content and capacitance of the circuit in further investigation. The effectiveness of the developed method was corroborated by comparing the results with the resistance measurement method.

Marine diatoms are unique reservoirs of bioactive compounds having enormous applications in therapeutics. But high-throughput screening methods are needed to elucidate the interaction between numerous biomolecules and their targets, facilitating rapid screening for novel drug molecules. So, in the present study chemical constituents were extracted from five marine diatoms using un-targeted metabolite profiling and in-silico virtual screening bioinformatics was employed to predict their bioactivity and molecular targets. A total of 17 chemical constituents out of 51 showed interactions with 76 protein targets associated with 213 pathways. Ingredient-target-pathway network revealed oleic acid, linoleic acid and cholest-5-en-3-ol as major active constituents. Core subnetwork and protein association network showed involvement of these compounds in key metabolic pathways related to cell signaling, cell growth and metabolism of xenobiotics. Thus, the present study for the first time revealed the main active ingredients and their associated pathways from marine diatoms using complex network approach.

Attempts were made in this study to observe the effect of agricultural based natural coagulant (Moringa Oleifera seed) to replace the synthetic coagulants. Natural coagulant reduced 99.5% turbidity of pharmaceutical wastewater. TDS reduces from 1735 to 776 mg/l and TSS 1000 to 450 mg/l. We observed the slight decrement in the value of the BOD and COD from 3776 mg/l to 1100 mg/l and 13728 mg/l to 12425 mg/l respectively during the initial six hours of sedimentation. The next day, the BOD and COD reduce up to the value 5135 mg/l and 373.8 mg/l respectively. The benefit of natural coagulant (Moringa Oleifera) is that it does not reduce pH as a chemical coagulant; hence the treatment to adjust pH of the treated water does not require further.
