Abstract
- Attempts were made in this study to observe the effect of agricultural based natural coagulant (Moringa Oleifera seed) to replace the synthetic coagulants. Natural coagulant reduced 99.5% turbidity of pharmaceutical wastewater. TDS reduces from 1735 to 776 mg/l and TSS 1000 to 450 mg/l. We observed the slight decrement in the value of the BOD and COD from 3776 mg/l to 1100 mg/l and 13728 mg/l to 12425 mg/l respectively during the initial six hours of sedimentation. The next day, the BOD and COD reduce up to the value 5135 mg/l and 373.8 mg/l respectively. The benefit of natural coagulant (Moringa Oleifera) is that it does not reduce pH as a chemical coagulant; hence the treatment to adjust pH of the treated water does not require further.
