Social media usage has soared in the last decade, with the majority of adults having an account on at least one platform. Sites such as LinkedIn, X, and TikTok allow users to share content using different forms, for example, written or video, long form or short form. Social media can be used by researchers to forge collaborations, rapidly disseminate new research, and demonstrate societal impact. This opinion piece aims to highlight the value of social media, in particular for early career researchers, and offer suggestions on how early career researchers can strategically use social media to build a network and an online presence. We reflect on our own experiences of social media and include some of the reasons we have been deterred from it in the past, such as fear of making a mistake, being misunderstood, or painted as being an overconfident "know it all." As the demonstration of impact and engagement becomes ever more important in grant applications and job security, social media competency is a powerful professional skill that will be important for all scientists. GASNet-EX is a portable, open-source, high-performance communication library designed to efficiently support the networking requirements of PGAS runtime systems and other alternative models in emerging exascale systems. It provides network-independent, high-performance communication primitives including Remote Memory Access (RMA) and Active Messages (AM). GASNet-EX is an evolution of the popular GASNet communication system, building upon over 20 years of lessons learned, and the primary goals are high performance, interface portability, and expressiveness. The library has been used to implement parallel programming models and libraries such as UPC, UPC++, Fortran coarrays, Legion, Chapel, and many others.This anthology collects together the four separate volumes that currently comprise the GASNet-EX specification, as of the 2024.5.0 release of GASNet-EX.

This study explores how the motivational framing of a network training program may positively or (inadvertently) adversely impact participants' discomfort with strategic networking and motivation to network. We examine the impact of a "me‐focused" framing (i.e., on the personal career benefits that individuals can accrue through strategic networking) and a "we‐focused" framing (i.e., on the benefits to the team/organization of individuals' strategic networking) compared to a control group in two field‐based quasi‐experiments. In both studies, we found no difference between the two training frames in their effect on the two training outcomes when looking at participants' reactions, on average. However, in the second study, we find that individual differences in the way participants relate to others (i.e., the extent to which they endorse an individual or a collective self‐concept) change the impact of the framing on their discomfort with and motivation to network. The findings highlight the importance of considering the match or mismatch between training framing and self‐concept. In the we‐focused condition, a match was related to decreased networking discomfort, while a mismatch was related to increased discomfort and decreased motivation. In the me‐focused condition, a mismatch was counter‐intuitively related to decreased discomfort. These findings suggest that considering participants' reactions to training (i.e., change in discomfort and motivation), on average, may mask important differences in their response to network‐based training and that tailoring network training to participants' self‐concepts may be an important consideration for human resource management professionals. Field access is frequently regarded as a mere practical step in the research process, with insufficient attention given to its broader implications. Numerous writings that focus on gaining field access offer just a collection of practical tips. While these recommendations are valuable, they are specific to each setting and individual experiences. Such an ad hoc approach fosters a limited understanding of the research permit application process and limits the discussion of access by disregarding its inherent uncertainty and its manifold consequences. In authoritarian contexts, obtaining field access remains highly uncertain and can be further complicated by arbitrary decision‐making. This article demonstrates that in Vietnam, social scientists, including anthropologists, must navigate ambiguous processes of trial‐and‐error to secure field access. With the term ‘trial‐and‐error’ we refer to an approach to problem‐solving in which various methods are attempted. Proceeding through trial‐and‐error involves familiarisation, networking, and improvisation. Based on 15 years of experience working in Vietnam we provide evidence that the process of trial‐and‐error is inherent in all three aspects. Beyond the issues surrounding access for foreign researchers, our observations also underscore the pivotal role of trial‐and‐error as a mechanism that Vietnamese citizens employ to navigate the uncertainties and arbitrariness associated with bureaucracy. In the burgeoning landscape of digital technology and social media platforms, it becomes essential for cardiac imagers to know how to effectively increase the visibility and the impact of their activity. With the availability of social sites like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook, cardiac imagers can now reach a wider audience and engage with peers, sharing their findings, insights, and discussions. The integration of persistent identifiers, such as digital object identifiers (DOIs), facilitates traceability and citation of cardiac imaging publications across various digital platforms, further enhancing their discoverability. To maximize visibility, practical advice is provided, including the use of visually engaging infographics and videos, as well as the strategic implementation of relevant hashtags and keywords. These techniques can significantly improve the discoverability of cardiac imaging research through search engine optimization and social media algorithms. Tracking impact and engagement is crucial in the digital age, and this review discusses various metrics and tools to gauge the reach and influence of cardiac imaging publications. This includes traditional citation-based metrics and altmetrics. Moreover, this review underscores the importance of creating and updating professional profiles on social platforms and participating in relevant scientific communities online. The adoption of digital technology, social platforms, and a strategic approach to publication sharing can empower cardiac imaging professionals to enhance the visibility and impact of their research, ultimately advancing the field and improving patient care. The Noise music scene in Indonesia has grown its popularity in recent years, thanks to the movie Bising: Noise and Experimental Music in Indonesia (2014) about people who do Noise in Indonesia, Senyawa who plays everywhere, and the Jogja Noise Bombing Festival, which draws attention from Noise musicians and fans around the world who come to attend the annual festival. It is already acknowledged not only abroad, where it first gained its popularity, but also by several national media and music festivals who feature some Noise musicians in their programmes. From an unknown yet obscure genre, Noise music has been part of the independent music ecosystem in Indonesia. Nowadays, the Noise scenes in Indonesia are not limited to Java island, but include other islands such as Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, Sumatra, Batam, and spaces in between. Studying the connections between the Noise activists in these islands through their network of touring, releasing an album together, or simply via Whatsapp group chat is interesting. This article aims at exploring the connections between Noise scenes in Indonesia. After studying the network directly through direct involvement and conducting interviews with some key figures in the scenes, we found some interesting facts such as the historical origin of its performers as well as infrastructures of the scenes (including but not limited to records labels, venues, communities, instrument builders, and festivals). Objective Materials and Methods Results Conclusions To describe the evolution and aims of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) Junior Committee (JC).Former members of the EAO JC and members of the board were interviewed, and current projects and initiatives were summarized.The EAO JC was launched in 2007 as the first young committee in Europe. Despite initial skepticism, it became a famous initiative, and the concept was copied by other dental and medical associations and societies. Since 2010, the committee organizes summer camps allowing young talents to discuss, network and interact beyond traditional boundaries.The EAO JC is giving fresh energy to the entire society and provides education and network opportunities for young clinicians and scientists. Attending and presenting at conferences is a preeminent experience during scientific training. This article provides a trainee's perspective on strategies to promote trainee growth before, during and after scientific meetings, taking the initiatives implemented by the Canadian Society for Immunology (CSI) as an example. A foremost action was the establishment of the Trainee Engagement Committee (TEC) in 2020. The TEC members contribute to the annual symposia by participating in the local organizing committee meetings and organizing trainee‐directed events. We propose actions that conference organizers can take to foster the development of the next generation of scientists. In addition, we offer advice to conference presenters on how to craft talks with trainees in mind and to attendees on how to maximize the quality and longevity of conference interactions. Firms utilising emerging media technologies need explorative innovation activities to keep up with market- and technology-driven dynamics. We develop and empirically test a PLS-SEM structural equation model that explains explorative innovation orientation (EIO) and its networking-based antecedents, based on a survey of 132 German XR firms. Absorptive capacity, organisational learning and the extent of networking ties to a) suppliers and buyers and b) competitors and marketing firms have a significant, positive influence on EIO. Networking with c) firms in the same digital business ecosystem (DBE) has a negative influence on EIO, which may limit EIO in highly fragmented technology markets. We also examine interaction effects of local and cross-cluster networking, thus developing our understanding of antecedent networking and the effects of its spatial nature on EIO. 'What do you do?' is a stereotypical networking question. How professionals answer acquaintancing questions like this when first meeting sheds light on how identity is construed. Using data from a naturally occurring networking event for elite professional services in Hong Kong, this paper uses a close study of interaction and follow-up interviews to identify and examine proximal networking mechanisms and processes. Consistently, participants used some amalgam of emblems, things that convey a social persona, from four different categories: industry (e.g., finance), professional role (e.g., FX trader), organizational affiliation (e.g., Morgan Stanley), and hierarchical position (e.g., associate). These generate evaluations of projected/absent instrumental gain, holistic eliteness, 'interestingness', and social proficiency (based on how they are deployed), resulting in symbolic capital transforming into (un)realized and projectible material outcomes. Theoretically, these findings contribute to our understanding of networking mechanisms. Background: Australian Rural Resident Medical Officer Cadetships are awarded to medical students interested in a rural medical career. The Rural Residential Medical Officer Cadetship Program (Cadetship Program) is administered by the Rural Doctors Network on behalf of the NSW Ministry of Health. This study aimed to assess the overall experience of medical students and key factors that contributed to their satisfaction with the Cadetship Program. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted among 107 former cadets who had completed the Cadetship Program. Data on medical students' experience with the Cadetship Program (outcome variable) and potential explanatory variables were collected using a structured self-administered questionnaire. Explanatory variables included gender, geographical location, rural health club membership, rural clinical school attendance, financial support, mentorship benefits, networking opportunities, influence on career decisions, opportunity for preferential placements, and relocation. Both bivariate (Pearson's chi-squared test) and multiple logistic regression analysis were employed to identify the factors associated with medical students' overall experience with the Cadetship Program. The non-linear analysis was weighted to represent the rural/remote health workforce, in Stata/SE 14.1. Results: Our results indicate that 91% of medical students were satisfied with the Cadetship Program. The logistic regression model identified two significant predictors of a positive experience with the Cadetship Program. Medical students who perceived financial support as beneficial were significantly more likely to report a satisfactory program experience (aOR = 6.22, 95% CI: 1.36–28.44, p = 0.019) than those who perceived financial support as not beneficial. Similarly, those who valued networking opportunities were more likely to have a positive view of their cadetship experience (aOR = 10.06, 95% CI: 1.11–91.06, p = 0.040) than their counterparts. Conclusion: Our study found that students who valued financial support and networking opportunities had the most positive views of the Cadetship Program. These findings demonstrate that the Cadetship Program may be most helpful for those who need financial support and for students who seek networking opportunities. These findings increase our knowledge about the characteristics of medical students who have the most positive experiences with the Cadetship Program. This article explores the role of virtual communities of practice in enhancing the doctoral experience, particularly in the contemporary digital era. The author emphasizes the multifaceted benefits, including elevating academic networking, optimizing knowledge management, and supporting the mental well-being of remote learners. The establishment of clear shared objectives, dynamic leadership, and a conducive environment for collaborative innovation are identified as key prerequisites for building successful virtual communities of practice. As remote doctoral education becomes more prevalent, virtual communities of practice not only facilitate academic engagement but also foster mutual support and advocacy among doctoral students. The researcher, as a final year PhD student employed autoethnography as a research method to offer an intimate and reflective exploration of her personal experiences within virtual communities of practice. This unique insider perspective adds depth to the discussion on elevating academic networking, optimizing knowledge management, and supporting the mental well-being of remote learners. Furthermore, her ongoing doctoral research focuses on the socialization process and the development of a sense of belonging among doctoral students. Motivated by her research topics, she commenced her doctoral studies during the epidemic and cultivated the practice of consistently maintaining a researcher’s reflection diary. This perspective article examines her diary, elucidating her experiences, opinions, and feelings. The researcher utilized a thematic approach to thoroughly analyze the author’s research diaries covering the period from December 2020 to August 2023. The article concludes by calling for further research into the professional identity development of doctoral students within virtual learning communities, exploring potential challenges and effective coping mechanisms to achieve inclusive practices in the complex and diverse digital era of academia. The use of social media in agricultural information dissemination among members of cooperative societies in Awka South Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State, Nigeria was ascertained. Data collected through a two-stage sampling procedure and the use of questionnaires were analyzed using percentages, mean, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Results revealed that WhatsApp (33.0%) and Facebook (32.0%) were the social media mostly used by the farmers. Poor network (61.1%) was the leading challenge faced by the respondents. A significant relationship existed between the educational level of the farmers and the level of social media use by the farmers (r = .557; p<0.05). It was concluded that social media was utilized by farmers in the study area; Facebook and WhatsApp were the social media highly used by the respondents on a daily basis. However, the use of social media among the respondents was constrained by factors such as poor network, complex social media navigation interface, and high cost of data subscription. Therefore, services/networks that promote the use of social media be improved and subscription data be made available to farmers at affordable prices so as to enhance the use of social media among the farmers. In emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs), entrepreneurship and self-employment, particularly among women, play a pivotal role as a means of livelihood. Unfortunately, the share of women participating in these activities is significantly lower compared to men, which has a negative effect on both the development of these countries and gender equality. Usual programs that support women's entrepreneurship are costly. We aim to explore the role of social networks for the entrepreneurial entry of women in EMDEs, as women can 'help themselves' through their development and activation. Our results, using GEM data for 53 low- and middle-income countries for the period 2011–2018, revealed that an entrepreneur on the women's social network increases the probability of their entrepreneurial entry by 3.3 percentage points. Our results also suggest that social networks represent an important source of information that enhances the determination of women to take advantage of good business opportunities, increases the positive effect of self-assessed start-up skills on entrepreneurial entry, and raises awareness of business risks. Mentorship refers to the guidance given by a mentor to a less experienced individual to enhance their professional and personal development. For graduate research students, seeking independent mentors external to their institution offers the rewarding opportunity to obtain objective guidance on a variety of work, study and life matters. This article outlines the steps taken to develop a professional society‐based, international mentoring program of over 70 participants. This 6‐month program aimed to connect graduate research students with more senior academic scientists in response to the limited networking opportunities imposed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic in Australia. Outlined here are the resources used to maximize the potential of this successful program, which include (1) an 'Introduction to Mentoring' workshop, (2) the use of a mentoring software or communication strategy to maintain program momentum and (3) the integration of in‐person networking events. Overall, the program was a great success, with a high satisfaction rating (8.7/10) and a large number of participants reported that they would maintain their mentoring relationship. All participants stated that they would recommend the program to a peer, and thus reiterations of the program would likely be similarly well‐received and beneficial to the Australasian immunology community. Network-based architectures provide accessibility to various hardware elements and information. The Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) protocol is a Wi-Fi-based communication that potentially exposes the system to a variety of vulnerabilities. Automotive electronics is a rapidly evolving field that combines numerous machine learning algorithms, dependable communication protocols, and precise image processing techniques to create a user-friendly and self-driving autonomous car. A generic network communication vulnerability assessment method is used to undertake a navigational attack against connected vehicles using GPS falsification. This study emphasizes the security risks of using Wi-Fi for V2V (vehicle 2 vehicle) communication without suitable access control measures in place. The tool used for establishing V2V Communication is based on Kali Linux. The breakdown of vulnerabilities within each layer, such as eavesdropping, spoofing, and Malevolent intermediary strike, highlights the diverse range of potential threats vehicles might face. The focus on the communication layer, both within the vehicle and with external infrastructure (V2X communication), aligns with the current trend of connectivity in automotive technology. Providing a state-of-the-art review of attacks and suggesting countermeasures demonstrates a proactive approach to mitigating potential risks. It's essential not only to identify vulnerabilities but also to propose effective solutions to safeguard vehicular communications and, ultimately, the control layer responsible for critical vehicle functions. Academic programs benefit from the addition of a formalized peer mentorship program to help undergraduate and graduate students achieve academic success, social and psychological wellbeing, and career development. This article describes a peer mentorship program developed in the Human Factors and Ergonomics (HF/E) program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) where students study human factors at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Purpose: This study aims to analyze social networking and network centrality in the case of community enterprises, which the existing literature has not addressed. To do so, the authors use the survey of community enterprises from the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) entrepreneurship program of Nong Khai border province in Thailand as a case study. Design/methodology/approach: Social network analysis (SNA) is a tool to study and understand the relationship patterns of units of analysis, which can be individual, household, community or production units, and how those units interact through social or economic activities. Network positions are important when identifying the centralization of links in a particular network. If a representative is close to the center of a network, it is possible that the production unit will be able to contact or coordinate with a greater number of other members of the cluster, create knowledge sharing, promote collaboration and then typically demonstrate greater performance. Findings: The results show that overall, local government agencies play a critical role in the community enterprise relationship network, while private entities are the least active group. Enterprises in partnerships with external agencies are mostly cooperating with branding and marketing dimensions, followed by the design dimension. There is no cooperation regarding production and distribution. Most community enterprises have established at least a one-dimensional network of cooperation with external agencies; only five community enterprises have isolated nodes with no partnerships having been created within this group. Research limitations/implications: The study was limited by the surveys having been conducted in a single area and, therefore, can be used only as a case study for this area. Surveys in larger group sizes and in a wider range of areas would lead to results with greater applicability and reliability. Practical implications: These results bring to mind policy proposals to increase the competitiveness of community enterprises through the development of social networks as follows: firstly, knowledge should be created with community enterprise operators to understand their supply chains and analyze the strengths and weaknesses and core competencies of their enterprises; and secondly, enterprises should be educated about which agencies can assist businesses at each stage in the value chain system and encouraged to ask for help in adding value at each stage of production. Social implications: A "OTOP to Business Networking" platform for community and private enterprises should be created with projects/activities that offer venues to exchange business learning and opportunities. Holding meetings among people in a variety of business sectors may help inspire entrepreneurs to innovate to further their businesses, which can lead to networking businesses conducting activities across community enterprises and the private sector for the mutual benefit of producing merchandise for large customers and markets. Learning systems, production techniques and cooperation should be created, as well as opportunities to increase market share and profitability, if this platform is successful. Originality/value: This paper is the first study, to the best of the authors' knowledge, to utilize SNA to examine the use of social networking among community enterprises participating in Thailand's OTOP entrepreneurship program in Nong Khai province. The results show that overall, local government agencies play a critical role in the community enterprise relationship network, while private entities are the least active group. Therefore, the government can play an important role in helping to develop a network of community enterprises with external entities at each stage of the value chain to enhance the competitiveness of each enterprise. Active learning is a paradigm where students take a more active role in their learning process. In this paper, two team-based evaluation activities are established for students according to the principles of active learning in order to assess their knowledge, skills and attitudes. These activities were based on scenarios related to network administration issues, and at a later stage, each team had to make a pitch presentation about what they did and how they did it to address them. Each presentation was rated by all students with a specific construct on a peer review basis, which had previously been validated by a panel of experts. The results obtained revealed quite high values with low variability and an acceptable reliability. It is anticipated that the younger generation will assume leadership roles within this sector. However, there is a dearth of interest among this demographic in pursuing careers in this field. The issue can be addressed by fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among millennial farmers. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the entrepreneurial characteristic effect on millennial farmers' business performance. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and observations using a questionnaire. Additionally, the sample size was 120 millennial farmers in Central Java within ten selected regencies. Snowball sampling was determined based on data from millennial farmers designated as ambassadors by the Ministry of Agriculture and data analysis used Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLSSEM). The results showed that the business performance of millennial farmers was measured based on four key indicators: turnover, source of capital financing, production capacity, and marketing reach. The findings indicated that entrepreneurial characteristics, as measured by individual features, risk-taking courage, and self-confidence, had a positive and significant effect on business performance. In this context, the business performance of millennial farmers could be enhanced by leveraging their individual characteristics, including a strong commitment, a mature evaluation of risk, and high confidence in their capabilities. Often, nurses new to the school setting find they have more questions than answers about school nursing practice but no mentor to ask. Questions often arise regarding medication administration, health records, health requirements to attend school, student illness, school health legislation, and state reporting requirements in the school setting, plus many more. This article outlines how one Regional Office of Education (ROE) in central Illinois partnered with a Certified School Nurse to establish a mentoring and networking program to foster relationships and information sharing among school nurses. Both bivariate (Pearson’s chi-squared test) and multiple logistic regression analysis were employed to identify the factors associated with medical students’ overall experience with the Cadetship Program. The non-linear analysis was weighted to represent the rural/remote health workforce, in Stata/SE 14.1. Results Our results indicate that 91% of medical students were satisfied with the Cadetship Program. The logistic regression model identified two significant predictors of a positive experience with the Cadetship Program. Medical students who perceived financial support as beneficial were significantly more likely to report a satisfactory program experience (aOR = 6.22, 95% CI: 1.36–28.44, p = 0.019) than those who perceived financial support as not beneficial. Similarly, those who valued networking opportunities were more likely to have a positive view of their cadetship experience (aOR = 10.06, 95% CI: 1.11–91.06, p = 0.040) than their counterparts. Conclusion Our study found that students who valued financial support and networking opportunities had the most positive views of the Cadetship Program. These findings demonstrate that the Cadetship Program may be most helpful for those who need financial support and for students who seek networking opportunities. These findings increase our knowledge about the characteristics of medical students who have the most positive experiences with the Cadetship Program. They help us to understand the mechanisms of influence of such programs on individuals’ decisions to be part of the future rural health workforce.

In the wide area measurement system （WAMS） of a province， occasional frequency hopping has been observed in digital phasor measurement unit （PMU） within an intelligent substation. Firstly， dynamic data records and waveform files are retrieved during instances of frequency hopping. Analysis is conducted in conjunction with on-site operational mode， and the causes behind two instances of frequency hopping are figured out. Subsequently， adjustments are made to the analog threshold values of the smart terminal， improvements are implemented in the sampling value （SV） network mode， virtual local area network （VLAN） switches are partitioned， and bandwidth thresholds of the device are fine-tuned to address frequency fluctuations caused by SV packet loss. Moreover， SV data recovery is conducted to enhance the fault tolerance of the PMU， ensuring that a loss of fewer than 3 frames will not lead to frequency fluctuation limit. Furthermore， efforts are made to identify on-site disturbance sources and analyze the causes of disturbances leading to frequency fluctuations in the PMU. A rapid disturbance identification method based on triggering waveform files is proposed. Finally， the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through experimentation.

Community health workers (CHW) can play an active role in providing integrated HIV and harm reduction services. We used social media to create a virtual network among Vietnamese CHW. This paper reports CHW's social media engagement and the relationships with other work-related indicators. Sixty CHW participated in an intervention for integrated HIV/drug use service delivery. Following two in-person sessions, Facebook groups were established for CHW to share information, seek consultation, and refer patients. CHW's levels of online engagements were tracked for six months and linked to their service provision confidence, interaction with patients and other providers, and job satisfaction. The CHW made 181 posts, which received 557 comments and 1,607 reactions during the six months. Among the 60 CHW, 22 (36.6%) had three or more posts, 19 (31.7%) had one or two posts, and 19 (31.7%) had no post. Comparing the baseline and 6-month follow-up data, we observed that those who posted three or more times showed better service provision confidence (p = 0.0081), more interaction with providers in other settings (p = 0.0071), and higher job satisfaction (p = 0.0268). Our study suggests using social media to engage CHW in virtual communications to improve service provision in communities.
