Amaç: Araştırma ile pandemi sürecinde hemşirelik eğitimini çevrimiçi gerçekleştiren öğrencilerin yüz yüze eğitime geçiş sonrası hemşirelik becerilerini yerine getirmede yaşadığı sorunların betimlenmesi ve sürecin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan fenomenoloji deseni benimsenmiştir. Bu araştırmada pandemi sürecinde hemşirelik lisans eğitimini çevrimiçi ve yüz yüze alan Gaziantep İslam Bilim ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi hemşirelik öğrencileri ölçüt olarak belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilere hazırlanan ve toplam 4 sorudan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları ile yüz yüze yapılan görüşmelerde veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırma verileri toplandıktan sonra elde edilen veriler, yazılı metinler biçiminde bilgisayar ortamına aktarılarak, içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz yoluyla yordanmıştır. Bulgular: Analiz sonucunda temalar; hemşirelik öğrencilerinin covid-19 pandemi sürecinde çevrim içi eğitim ile ilgili yaşadıkları sorunlar teknolojik alt yapı ve internet erişiminden kaynaklı ve öğrenci temelli sorunlar olmak üzere iki ana temaya ayrılmıştır. Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinde Çevrim İçi Eğitimin Hemşirelik Becerilerine Etkileri teması altında mesleki derslerin uygulama üzerine etkisi, duygusal etkileri ve psikomotor becerileri gerçekleştirirken yaşanan sorunlar olarak belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Öğrencilerin hemşirelik becerilerini yerine getirirken özgüven eksikliği yaşadığı, stres, kaygı, korku, odaklanma ve uyum sorunu taşıdığı ve klinik uygulamalar konusunda yetersiz kaldığı ifadelerinin yaygın olduğu görülmüştür.

Introduction: Sleep is a physiological process that occurs with the temporary, partial, and periodic loss of the organism's communication with the environment. The need for sleep is affected by factors such as age, gender, illness, physical activity, emotional state, drugs, environment, and alcohol use. The processes in which unexpected events occur (infectious disease, fire, earthquake, etc.) are among the other factors that affect sleep quality by creating anxiety and fear. Such situations, which affect sleep quality, cause individuals to encounter difficulties in their daily lives.Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic process on sleep quality in adult individuals.Method: The research was conducted in a cross-sectional and descriptive order. The data was collected with the Google Forms application.Results: The data were categorized under two headings: problems and solutions. In the title of problems, it was mentioned that psychological and economic problems affect sleep quality, while in the title of solutions, there were statements that no solution could be found to the sleep problem or that traditional methods (hot shower, herbal tea consumption, etc.) were used.Conclusion: In the study, it was concluded that the sleep quality of the individuals was affected due to the anxiety and economic problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic process, and could not find a solution to the sleep problem or used traditional methods., Giriş: Uyku, organizmanın çevre ile iletişiminin geçici, kısmi ve periyodik olarak kaybolması ile oluşan fizyolojik bir süreçtir. Uyku gereksinimi yaş, cinsiyet, hastalık, fiziksel aktivite, emosyonel durum, ilaçlar, çevre ve alkol kullanımı gibi faktörlerden etkilenmektedir. Beklenmedik olayların yaşandığı süreçler (bulaşıcı hastalık, yangın, deprem vb.) kaygı ve korku yaratarak uyku kalitesini etkileyen diğer unsurlardandır. Uyku kalitesini etkileyen bu tarz durumların bireylerin günlük yaşantısında zorluklarla karşılaşmasına neden olmaktadır.Amaç: Araştırmada Covid-19 pandemi sürecinin yetişkin bireylerde uyku kalitesi üzerine etkisinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Araştırma kesitsel ve tanımlayıcı düzende yapılmıştır. Veriler online platformda Google Forms uygulaması ile toplanmıştır.Bulgular: Veriler sorunlar ve çözümler olmak üzere 2 başlık altında kategorize edilmiştir. Sorunlar başlığında psikolojik ve ekonomik sorunların uyku kalitesini etkilediğinden bahsedilirken, çözümler başlığında uyku sorununa çözüm bulunamadığı ya da geleneksel yöntemlerin (sıcak duş, bitki çayı tüketimi vb.) kullanıldığına ilişkin ifadeler yer almaktadır.Sonuç: Araştırmada, bireylerin Covid-19 pandemi sürecinin yarattığı kaygı ve ekonomik sorunlar nedeniyle uyku kalitesinin etkilendiği ve uyku sorununa çözüm bulamadığı ya da geleneksel yöntemleri kullandığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the attitudes of patients to exercise their rights. Method: The descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in June-August 2019 with the voluntary participation of 400 patients who received inpatient treatment at a university hospital in Eskişehir. In the study, the data were collected using “Information Form Regarding Personal Characteristics” and “Attitude Scale for Using Patient Rights”. Results: The average age of the individuals participating in the research is 39.82 ± 14.10, 51.3% are male, 63.3% are married, 38% are high school graduates, 35.8% are office and service personnel, 72%, 5 of them are with SGK, 43.3% of the income and expense are equal and 55.3% of them live in the city center. 38.7% of the participants have applied to the hospital 2-3 times, 41.8% of them have information about patient rights. 19.8% of the participants showed their health workers as the source of information, 45.5% of them expressed their desire to receive training in the patient rights department on patient rights and 47.8% stated that they applied to the relevant health institution for complaints. The average score of the participants in the Attitude Scale for Using Patient Rights is 115.61 ± 19.42. Aims and Objectives: The study was conducted to determine the effect of chewing gum during hemodialysis on dry mouth and its symptoms. Background: The imposition of fluid restriction and the use of medications that reduce saliva production may lead to dry mouth. Design: This study is a randomized, controlled, single-blind, crossover experimental study. Methods: The subjects consisted of 61 hemodialysis patients recruited from 4 dialysis centers in southern Turkey. The data were collected using a Patient Identification Form, a Form for Assessing the Symptoms of Dry Mouth, and a Patient Follow-up Form. Saliva samples were obtained for analysis of flow rates. Results: The salivary flow rates of the patients increased during the first hour on the day when gum was chewed, and this increase was statistically significant. However, no significant difference was found between the salivary flow rates at the 0- and 4-hour time points on the day when gum was chewed (P >.05). In addition, the salivary pH values were in the normal range on both days, although the pH values tended to be more acidic on the day when gum was not chewed. Conclusions: Overall, it was found that chewing gum for 15 minutes each hour during a hemodialysis session did not increase the saliva amount, maintain the pH value of the saliva within a normal range, or control dry mouth symptoms. Background: Nurses experience many interruptions during drug administration. Interruptions threaten the safety of patients and nurses in health institutions.Aim: This study aimed to investigate the interruptions experienced by nurses during preparation and administration of medications at the patient’s bedside/corridor in different clinics.Methods: Interruptions was determined by several observations. Observations carried out during nurses’ medication process in internal medicine and surgical services (by two researchers). Sixty observation were made in total by two researchers.Results: Interruptions were detected at least once in the preparations and administration process in all of the observations. The interruption frequency in preparation, administration and the whole process were statistically significant different between the services. The interruptions in the general surgery service were higher than the internal medicine service. The interruption frequency was significantly higher during the preparation process in internal medicine service and administration process in general surgery service.Conclusions: Interruptions during nurses’ medication process at the patient’s bedside or in the corridor was commonly observed, especially in the general surgery service.

Aim: This study was conducted in an attempt to examine the number and duration of interruptions during the medication preparation process and to identify the factors causing these interruptions. Background: Interruptions during the medication preparation process can cause medication errors owing to nurses' lack of attention. Method: A descriptive study was conducted at the Internal Diseases and General Surgery services of a university hospital between 15 June 2012 and 30 July 2012. The data were collected using the 'Observation Form of Preparing Medication.' Result: A total of 122 observations were made in the study. It was found that there was an interruption during the process of preparing medication in 95.9% of observations. The average number (±SD) of interruptions was 5.8 ± 4. The individuals causing the interruption during medication preparation were primarily nurses working in the same service. Receiving from or giving materials to the treatment room were the main reasons for the interruptions. Conclusion: This study found a very high interruption rate during the process of preparing medications. Implications for nursing management: As interruptions during medication preparation can cause medical errors, in-service teaching should be provided to raise awareness for this important issue. The findings of the study can be useful for enhancing the conditions of the physical environment, separating the treatment rooms and using the treatment rooms only for preparing medication. © 2016 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to explore the opinions of nurses regarding their knowledge of and perceived responsibility for providing ostomy care. SUBJECTS AND SETTING: The target population of this de-scriptive study was staff nurses working in an acute care hospital in Ankara, Turkey. METHODS: Data were collected by a questionnaire that included 2 sections. The fi rst section queried descriptive information about the nurses, the perceived responsibil-ity for providing ostomy care for patients. The second section included 54 items that focused on knowledge about stoma care. RESULTS: Evaluating the answers of the nurses to all statements in general (54 propositions), the median value of the “I do not know/false” answers (27.50) was observed to be close to the median value of the “true” answers (26.5). These results indicated that the staff nurses’ knowledge of ostomy care was not at the desired level. Responses from section 2 indicated that nonspecialty practice staff did not consider stoma care as their responsibility. Factors that infl uenced knowl-edge of ostomy care were number of years working as a nurse, level of education, level of reviewing professional literature on ostomy care, and participation in scientifi c meetings on the subject. CONCLUSIONS: Study fi ndings reveal that knowledge level of nonspecialty nurses about intestinal stoma care is inadequate, and most staff nurses did not consider themselves responsible for stoma care. Genital warts are common infections caused by human papilloma viruses (HPV). Although the diagnosis is straight forward and many different treatment choices are present, recurrences are almost inevitable. There are many factors influencing recurrences such as immunity, HPV types, sexual partnership, and hygiene. Hair removal methods may be an issue in recurrence. In this retrospective study, the recurrence rate of genital warts in 50 patients using depilatory creams or shaving as a regular hair removal method before and after treatment by electrocauterization were evaluated. Both methods showed no difference in recurrence rates. Therefore, no depilatory method can be advised as decreasing genital recurrence of genital warts.

Araştırma, hemşirelerin arteriyel kan basıncı ölçümüne ilişkin uygulamalarını,teorik bilgilerini ve teorik bilginin uygulamayı etkileyip etkilemediğini incelemekamacıyla yapılan tanımlayıcı türde bir çalışmadır.Araştırma Pamukkale Üniversitesi Sağlık Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi Dahilive Cerrahi servislerinde 15 Mart - 15 Mayıs 2016 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır.Araştırmanın yürütülebilmesi için Pamukkale Üniversitesi Girişimsel Olmayan KlinikEtik Kurulu'undan, Pamukkale Üniversitesi Sağlık Araştırma ve UygulamaMerkezi'nden yazılı izin, araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden hemşirelerden sözel/yazılıizin alınmıştır.Veriler, araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden ve araştırma kriterlerine uyan 106hemşireden, 08:00 -23:00 saatleri arasında araştırmacı tarafından gözlem ve yüz yüzegörüşme yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Hemşirelerin tanıtıcı bilgileri kişisel bilgi formukullanılarak, arteriyel kan basıncı ölçüm basamaklarını uygulama durumları;arteriyelkan basıncı ölçüm işlem basamaklarını sırasıyla içeren kontrol listesine kaydedilerek vearteriyel kan basıncı ölçüm basamaklarını bilme durumları; arteriyel kan basıncı ölçümişlem basamaklarına ilişkin teorik bilgilerini içeren form kullanılarak yüz yüze görüşmeyöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Arteriyel kan basıncı işlem basamakları araştırmacılartarafından literatür doğrultusunda hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan formlar için uzman görüşüalınmıştır.Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin analizi SPSS 21.00 paket programıkullanılarak yapılmış, verilerin sayı ve yüzde dağılımı verilmiş ve Ki Kare testiuygulanmıştır.Hemşirelerin arteriyel kan basıncı ölçüm basamaklarını doğru olarak uygulamayüzdelerinin düşük, bilme yüzdelerinin uygulamaya göre daha yüksek olduğusaptanmıştır. Arteriyel kan basıncı ölçüm basamaklarına ilişkin uygulama ve bilmedurumlarının karşılaştırılmasında ise, istenilir düzeyde doğru olarak bilinip yerinegetirilen basamağın sadece ölçüm sırasında gözün manometreden ayrılmamasıbasamağı olduğu bulunmuştur. Written permission for the study was obtained from Pamukkale University's andPamukkale University's Health, Research and Application Center, and verbal/writtenconsent was obtained from the nurses who agreed to participate in it.The data were collected from 106 nurses and matched the research criteriabetween 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. through observation and face-to-face interviews.The nurses' introductory information was collected using a personal information form.The data for their arterial blood pressure measurement practices were recorded on acontrol list that included the proper steps. The data for their knowledge of arterial bloodpressure measurement were collected using a form that included theoretical knowledgeabout it. The arterial blood pressure measurement steps were prepared by theresearchers in accordance with the literature. Expert opinion was consulted for theforms that were prepared.The research data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 software, presentedas numbers and percentages, and a chi square test was performed.The percentages of nurses' correct implementation of arterial blood pressuremeasurement steps were low, while the percentages for their knowledge of these stepswere high. The only step that was both known at the desired level and implementedproperly was found to be keeping an eye on the manometer during measurement.Nurses' knowledge about arterial blood pressure measurement was found not to affecttheir practices.Keywords: Blood Pressure, Blood Pressure Determination, Nurses, Arterial Pressure 97
