This article discusses the revision of the chemical structures of a group of bacterial sulfur-containing aminolipids called cysteinolides. The study used various analytical techniques to determine the absolute stereochemistry of these lipids and found that they have an unusual N,O-acylated cysteic acid head group. The research also mapped the distribution and structural diversity of cysteinolides in different bacteria. The article also discusses the synthesis and structural analysis of sulfonolipids, the purification and analysis of lipid extracts, and the evaluation of the bioactivity of aminosulfonolipids. The findings provide valuable insights into the characteristics and functions of these substances. [Extracted from the article]
