INTRODUCCIÓN: Los ambientes se entienden como las condiciones físicas y psicosociales que posibilitan u obstaculizan la vida en relación y las demás manifestaciones vitales, entre ellas la salud. Las experiencias en la escuela influyen en la salud y la salud está relacionada con la vida escolar1,2. OBJETIVO: Identificar las características del ambiente escolar y la salud en estudiantes de Nivel Primario asistentes a una institución escolar de gestión privada de la zona noreste de la Ciudad de Córdoba, 2022. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Estudio observacional, transversal y retrospectivo. La salud se evaluó a partir de un muestreo estratificado de 182 Certificados de Salud y el ambiente en sus tres dimensiones (físico, psicosocial y alimentario) a partir del análisis de documentos y de una adaptación al cuestionario hoja verde de diagnóstico medioambiental escolar realizado a los docentes3. Se realizó análisis descriptivo de las variables de interés, y test de diferencia de proporciones (NC95%). CONSIDERACIONES ÉTICAS: Para el desarrollo de la investigación se respetaron las recomendaciones internacionales sobre ética y buenas prácticas en la investigación en salud humana. El estudio contó con la autorización de la institución educativa para la utilización de la base de datos, resguardando la identidad de las personas. Dado que los datos utilizados fueron a través de fuentes secundarias y no contienen información que permita identificar individuos, la aprobación por un Comité de Ética no fue requerida. RESULTADOS: Ambiente físico: institución de más de cien años de antigüedad, pero con infraestructura adaptada a personas con discapacidad; Ambiente psicosocial: se ofrecen actividades al aire libre y la institución se implica en la búsqueda de soluciones al problema de acoso escolar; Ambiente alimentario: presencia de tópicos sobre educación alimentaria nutricional, aunque con una elevada oferta de productos procesados y ultraprocesados, y en menor medida, productos naturales. El 92% de los escolares presentó carnet de vacunas completo, 18% alteración de su tensión arterial y 41% exceso de peso. Hypertrichosis cubiti, also named hairy elbows syndrome, is an uncommon variety of congenital, circumscribed hypertrichosis with a remarkable amount of long vellous hair localized on the extensor surfaces of the upper extremities. It may appear both as a familial or sporadic form. In most patients, it is not associated with any other physical anomalies, although short stature and other development disorders have been described. This study is based on the need to improve packaging sustainability in the food industry. Its aim was to assess the performance of a recyclable plastic material for semi-hard sheep's cheese wedges packaging as an alternative to conventional non-sustainable plastic materials. Four different packaging treatments (air, vacuum, and CO 2 /N 2 gas mixtures 50/50 and 80/20% ( v / v )) were studied. Changes in gas headspace composition, sensory properties, cheese gross composition, weight loss, pH, colour, and texture profile were investigated at 5 ± 1 °C storage for 56 days. The sensory analysis indicated that vacuum packaging scored the worst in paste appearance and holes, and air atmosphere the worst in flavour; it was concluded that cheeses were unfit from day 14-21 onwards. Air and vacuum packaging were responsible for most of the significant changes identified in the texture profile analysis, and most of these happened in the early stages of storage. The colour parameters a* and b* differentiated the air packaging from the rest of the conditions. As in previous studies using conventional plastic materials, modified atmosphere packaging, either CO 2 /N 2 50/50 or 80/20% ( v / v ), was the most effective preserving technique to ensure the quality of this type of cheese when comparing air and vacuum packaging treatments.

Background: The prognostic value of ambulatory blood pressure (BP) monitoring (ABPM) is poorly understood in Latin American populations., Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted on 1339 patients with hypertension who underwent 24-h BP monitoring between 2015 and 2019. The incidence of serious adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) was analysed using a Cox proportional hazards model adjusted for potential confounders. Three previously reported morning surge definitions were evaluated for SBP and DBP using different ABPM components: sleep-through morning surge, pre-awakening, and morning night-time difference., Results: The mean age was 62 years, 52% were female, 32.8% had dyslipidaemia, 27.2% were smokers, and 7.8% had diabetes. During a median follow-up period of 32 months, 197 MACE occurred. In men, the adjusted hazard ratio (HR) was 1.84 [95% confidence interval (CI), 1.35-2.49; P  < 0.001). The HR increased to 2.03 (95% CI, 1.89-2.17; P  < 0.001) with a cut-off value of 35 mmHg for a 10 mmHg increase in sleep-through morning surge. The increased adjusted HR associated with the morning rise persisted for each secondary endpoint, including 21 cardiovascular deaths [HR: 2.70 (95% CI, 2.03-3.60; P  < 0.001)], 78 myocardial infarctions [HR: 1.92 (95% CI, 1.72-2.15; P  < 0.001)], 24 hospitalisations for heart failure [HR: 1.77 (95% CI, 1.48-2.12; P  < 0.001)], 22 strokes [HR: 2.32 (95% CI, 1.85-2.91; P  < 0.001)], and 52 atrial fibrillations [HR: 1.94 (95% CI, 1.71-2.20; P  < 0.001)]., Conclusion: The morning BP rise was the most important circadian prognostic factor for MACE in patients with hypertension, which deserves more attention., (Copyright © 2023 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. In this study, we used genotype × environment interactions (G×E) models for hybrid prediction, where similarity between lines was assessed by pedigree and molecular markers, and similarity between environments was accounted for by environmental covariables. We use five genomic and pedigree models (M1-M5) under four cross-validation (CV) schemes: prediction of hybrids when the training set (i) includes hybrids of all males and females evaluated only in some environments (T2FM), (ii) excludes all progenies from a randomly selected male (T1M), (iii) includes all progenies from 20% randomly selected females in combination with all males (T1F), and (iv) includes one randomly selected male plus 40% randomly selected females that were crossed with it (T0FM). Models were tested on a total of 1888 wheat ( L.) hybrids including 18 males and 667 females in three consecutive years. For grain yield, the most complex model (M5) under T2FM had slightly higher prediction accuracy than the less complex model. For T1F, the prediction accuracy of hybrids for grain yield and other traits of the most complete model was 0.50 to 0.55. For T1M, Model M3 exhibited high prediction accuracies for flowering traits (0.71), whereas the more complex model (M5) demonstrated high accuracy for grain yield (0.5). For T0FM, the prediction accuracy for grain yield of Model M5 was 0.61. Including genomic and pedigree gave relatively high prediction accuracy even when both parents were untested. HIV-1 Nef is a multifunctional protein that optimizes virus spread and promotes immune evasion of infected cells to accelerate disease progression in AIDS patients. As one of its activities, Nef reduces the motility of infected CD4 + T lymphocytes in confined space. In vivo, Nef restricts T lymphocyte homing to lymph nodes as it reduces the ability for extravasation at the diapedesis step. Effects of Nef on T lymphocyte motility are typically mediated by its ability to reduce actin remodeling. However, interference with diapedesis does not depend on residues in Nef required for inhibition of host cell actin dynamics. In search for an alternative mechanism by which Nef could alter T lymphocyte extravasation, we noted that the viral protein interferes with the polarization of primary human CD4 + T lymphocytes upon infection with HIV-1. Expression of Nef alone is sufficient to disrupt T cell polarization, and this effect is conserved among lentiviral Nef proteins. Nef acts by arresting the oscillation of CD4 + T cells between polarized and nonpolarized morphologies. Mapping studies identified the binding site for the Nef-associated kinase complex (NAKC) as critical determinant of this Nef activity and a NAKC-binding-deficient Nef variant fails to impair CD4 + T lymphocyte extravasation and homing to lymph nodes. These results thus imply the disruption of T lymphocyte polarity via its NAKC binding site as a novel mechanism by which lentiviral Nef proteins alter T lymphocyte migration in vivo., (Copyright © 2018 by The American Association of Immunologists, Inc.)

Unlabelled: HIV-1 Nef and Vpu are thought to optimize virus replication in the infected host, at least in part via their ability to interfere with vesicular host cell trafficking. Despite the use of distinct molecular mechanisms, Nef and Vpu share specificity for some molecules such as CD4 and major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I), while disruption of intracellular transport of the host cell restriction factor CD317/tetherin represents a specialized activity of Vpu not exerted by HIV-1 Nef. To establish a profile of host cell receptors whose intracellular transport is affected by Nef, Vpu, or both, we comprehensively analyzed the effect of these accessory viral proteins on cell surface receptor levels on A3.01 T lymphocytes. Thirty-six out of 105 detectable receptors were significantly downregulated by HIV-1 Nef, revealing a previously unappreciated scope with which HIV-1 Nef remodels the cell surface of infected cells. Remarkably, the effects of HIV-1 Vpu on host cell receptor exposure largely matched those of HIV-1 Nef in breadth and specificity (32 of 105, all also targeted by Nef), even though the magnitude was generally less pronounced. Of particular note, cell surface exposure of all members of the tetraspanin (TSPAN) protein family analyzed was reduced by both Nef and Vpu, and the viral proteins triggered the enrichment of TSPANs in a perinuclear area of the cell. While Vpu displayed significant colocalization and physical association with TSPANs, interactions of Nef with TSPANs were less robust. TSPANs thus emerge as a major target of deregulation in host cell vesicular transport by HIV-1 Nef and Vpu. The conservation of this activity in two independent accessory proteins suggests its importance for the spread of HIV-1 in the infected host., Importance: In this paper, we define that HIV-1 Nef and Vpu display a surprising functional overlap and affect the cell surface exposure of a previously unexpected breadth of cellular receptors. Our analyses furthermore identify the tetraspanin protein family as a previously unrecognized target of Nef and Vpu activity. Eosinophilic pustular folliculitis (EPF) is a rare, chronic disease of unknown cause, characterized by itchy papules or pustules and an infiltration of eosinophiles in the biopsy. EPF occurs rarely outside Japan and very few cases have been described in non-Japanese race people. The causes of the disease and its definitive treatment have not yet been established. In our patient, the presence of subcorneal pustules in the biopsies initially favored a diagnosis of pustulosis and several biopsies were necessary before a diagnosis of EPF was reached. A new case of EPF recently presented at our clinic and we have carried out an extensive revision of the disease.

The purpose of this work was to study if the variations in the nuclear DNA content and the expression of EGFr and HER2/neu transmembrane oncoproteins were related and if this influences the rate of cell proliferation modifying, in each case, the potential aggressivity of the neoplasia. Thirty-four ductal breast carcinoma tissue samples of tumors of up to 2 cm in diameter were analyzed by flow cytometry. HER2/neu and EGFr were measured by immunohistochemical methods. Twenty cases were diploid (DNA index of 1) and 14 cases were aneuploid (DNA index other than 1). The expression of EGFr and HER2/neu was significantly higher in aneuploid tumors compared with diploid tumors. The cell proliferation rate was significantly higher in tumors with an aneuploid pattern. The expression of EGFr was associated with a higher rate of cell proliferation. The higher expression of EGFr and HER 2/neu oncoproteins in aneuploid tumors suggests that the increased proliferative activity of aneuploid carcinomas is influenced by the activity of such oncoproteins, which favors a more aggressive biological behavior.
