The thesis deals with the boundaries for accepting donations in the Czech non-profit organizations of the climate movement. Czech leaders, unlike the European ones, are rather inattentive to the climate crisis. In recent years this is reflected in immergence of new organizations which creates pressure to address this situation. In order for organizations to advance their agenda, they need a network of donors to support them. The aim of this thesis is to understand what values and practices in these organizations regulate the acceptance of gifts, as well as to understand the motivations of their approach in specific situations.

In this master thesis I deal with civil society organizations in Tunisia with a focus on women's rights. Firstly, I present the conceptual frameworks I work with and I set the indicators on the basis of which I assess the organization. I present context in which organisations are operating, I describe the history of Tunisia and the state of women's rights in Tunisia. First I focus on the period before the first democratic elections, between 1987 and 2011, when president Zin Abidin bin Ali ruled. Then I move on to the period after the first democratic elections, which took place in 2011, until 2018. Subsequently, I compare the functioning of civil society organisations with a focus on women's rights in these two periods. I discuss what organizations have to deal with during their operation, what influences them and what problems they concentrate on within the framework of women's rights. I collect information and data using document analysis, and then analyze the data with open coding.

This Master's thesis focuses on accountability, which is understood as a relation between an actor and an external forum. The actor is accountable to the forum which means the actor must explain and justify their actions. This thesis regards as actors civil society organizations that provide social services. The thesis explores what forms of accountability are employed in annual reports of civil society organisations that provide social services during Petr Nečas' government and using which discourses. The era of Petr Nečas' government is considered to be an era of neoliberal reforms. The method used in this thesis is Critical Discourse Analysis by Norman Fairclough. The thesis identifies bureaucratic discourse as the dominant and discourse of civil society as the minority. Being accountable through beraucratic discourse serves for legitimizing an organisation. Civil society discourse reflects and forms identities of organizations.

This diploma thesis deals with employees' motivation to participate in corporate volunteering, which is an integral part of civil society and each company's corporate social responsibility. Corporate volunteering is on the rise, but not every company perceives it with all the aspects that it could bring to it, its employees and society. I put into the context not only corporate volunteering, but also employee / volunteer motivation. In the research I found out the main and most frequent motivation of employees of three selected companies to participate in corporate volunteering, which I then compared with each other. Thanks to the research, I suggested to companies how they could improve corporate volunteering programs for their employees so the employees have more interest and credibility. Recommendations can be an inspiration for other companies that would like to start with corporate volunteering or promote it more in their company.

The diploma thesis focuses on ethical consumerism and its impact on the civic engagement of young women. Ethical consumerism, which includes, for example, boycott and buycott of products and services, is gaining momentum in the downfall of formal civic engagement. Citizens move to the market where they apply their ethical principles of noneconomic character. Their consumer choices are motivated by publicly beneficial motives. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis defines both civic society and its civic participation, and ethical consumerism. The theory of ethical consumerism addresses the definitions of basic concepts, the change in the political climate, which has allowed the expansion of ethical consumerism and the gender aspect of this phenomenon. The research focuses specifically on young women who live in Prague and regularly shop ethically, and their participation in civic engagement before and after becoming ethical consumers. From the data gathered, it was found out upon which products the informants exercised their ethical consumption, the representation of socio-economical, environmental and political motives and how they formally and informally engage in civil society. Choosing products is just like casting a vote. The consumer choice gives citizens a sense of who they are, it is...

This thesis is focused on the relations of competition and cooperation between non-governmental non-profit organizations working with migrants in Prague. Based on interviews with representatives of these organizations and the study of documents, this thesis shows that classical theoretical approaches that deal with interorganizational relationships generally, i.e. those of profitable organizations in the market environment, ignore the specificity of non-profit organizations. Unlike profitable organizations, non-profit organizations primarily do not aim at profit but rather at the mission they were founded for. Classical theories do not reflect this dimension at all. The non-profit organizations working with migrants in Prague not only cooperate but this cooperation is motivated especially by their mission, although they are situated in a highly competitive position because they are situated in the same area, work with the same clients, offer similar services to these clients and are financed from the same sources. The focus of my thesis is on the process of transformation of the leftist movement from autonomous to post-autonomous. Specifically, I am interested in the transformation of the Czech squatting movement and the case of the Autonomous Social Centre Klinika. I ask whether it is possible to consider the case of Klinika an example of post-autonomy in Czech context, and which dimensions of the transformation can we identify there. In the theoretical part I define the concept of autonomy and how the autonomous movements understand it. By defining the characteristics of the autonomous movements alongside with theoretical literature, I then identify five dimensions of the transformation from autonomy to post-autonomy. Because the transformation is influenced by both internal and external facts, it is important to me, to firstly understand the neoliberal mode of thinking, its difficulties and other facts, which can determine the transformation. Crucial for research are the data I collect from the semi-structured interviews with respondents, who have been selected based on their experiences with squatting in Czech context.

- Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the connection between formal volunteering and integration from the perspective of Russian speaking immigrants, in the context of civil society organizations in Czech Republic. I have monitored the motives and benefits of volunteering perceived by Russian-speaking immigrants in relation to their own integration through in-depth semi-structured interviews. There were three main aspects relating to volunteering which I've pursued: the perspective of immigrants' employability, the emergence and development of social relations and civic engagement. The results of the study show a more complex impact of volunteering on the social integration of foreigners. It presents a deeper understanding of Czech culture and a better orientation in the Czech institutional system, in addition to better job opportunities and benefits for social networks. Among other things, foreigners could understand their own volunteering in the sense of civic engagement when volunteers want to help their less integrated fellow citizens or strengthen their own language communities. In addition to this, volunteering in a non-for-profit non-governmental organization provides foreigners with the opportunity to show their own culture and thus to disrupt the stereotypes about the culture that have arisen...

The subject of this diploma thesis is the potential of organizations of civil society to influence public debate about immigration to Europe via Facebook. Conclusions introduced in this diploma thesis are based on my own empirical research as well as on literature focused on public relations. Research is designed as single case study of Facebook communication of Doctors without Borders. I explore the diversity of topics and argumentation present in the organization's communication, reactions of its audience and mutual interactions between organization and its audience. I explain that content, visual and formal aspects may play a key role when an organization is trying to address wide audience, whose ideas is willing to shape and influence. Research points out that the communication of Doctors without Borders about migration to Europe is one-sided, because it's mainly driven by activities and mission of the organization. This one-sidedness is partly compensated by engaged audience that enriches discussions under the Facebook posts of the organization with diverse topics and opinions. The thesis tries to capture the significance of tension between organization and its audience that raises inspirational discussions, which might not occur in case of absolute consensus. Based on longitudinal ethnographic fieldwork in Bosnia and Herzegovina I trace ontologies of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and their enactments among veterans of the 1992-1995 war. My aim is to problematize and rethink social constructionists' approaches in medical anthropology that discuss war trauma and PTSD in relation to naturalistic models and treat them as constructed realities not determined by the nature of things. I argue that such a standpoint produces a particular epistemological/ontological side-effect: it allows medical anthropologists to craft a purely social ontology of trauma and PTSD by claiming that the realness of these "constructs" is a result of psychiatric discourse, moral economy of contemporary societies or Western (intellectual, political, and medical) hegemony. Considering the ontology of PTSD as an empirical question I analyze the enactments of PTSD in four settings: the ethnographic genre itself, the organization of war veterans with PTSD in the city of Tuzla, the veterans' welfare system in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bosnian public arena. I argue that PTSD is practiced as a heterogeneous and multiple reality that cannot be situated solely either in the realm of human organism (and explained by naturalistic models) or society and culture (and...

Public power in democratic society emanates from the citizens and is, in its turn, responsible to them. The citizens are entitled to observe, scrutinize and influence it. The public consists of private individuals actively engaged in public affairs and coordinating this activity with others. The present essay is concerned with Jürgen Habermasʼ concepts of the public in his The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere, The Theory of Communicative Action, and Between Facts and Norms. At first, these works are interpreted and critically evaluated here. Then, the issue of the public is developed with special emphasis on the concept as it is elaborated in Between Facts and Norms. This essay tries to characterize the civil public and pursues the question how it is positioned in the larger frame of the civil society. The public is studied from the point of view of its influence in society. Habermas ascribes a substantial role to the public, for, according to his idea of the deliberative democracy, the public takes a part in the democratic processes of lawmaking and that by means of a dialogue with the public power. In this perspective, the public is conceived of as communicative power. This dissertation concentrates on the origins and forming of the communicative power and the ensuing process of its...

The main question of my thesis is what role non-profit organizations play in policies regarding Roma education in the Czech Republic. The thesis includes how these non-profit organizations can influence the policy. The research focuses on small groups of NGO's that support inclusive education in unspecialized schools. NGO's are active proponents of inclusion related politics, too. The research contains interviews with representatives or employers of these organizations, and it also looks into channels that represent the use in policy-making. The document presents what activists regard as effective instruments of policy-making, and which instruments activists consider as ineffective. The thesis comprises the difficulties and struggles these non-profit organizations encounter. The study tenders examples of policy-making in small groups of organizations, as well as possible ways NGO's advocate in the Czech state system. This thesis also compares inclusive education policy-making with other fields of policy-making. To conclude, this thesis analyzes the role of non-profit organizations and their ability to exert change at a policy level.

The thesis maps the ways of participation of Russian-speaking mothers on the Czech civil society. By means of in-depth interviews I learn what factors are required for the integration of the migrants and what make the integration difficult. I focus on fulfillment of the need of belonging to Czech civil society in the context of all other needs. The sense of belonging is specific for women because of their gender-dependent family role - a woman takes care of children and comes more often to contact with Czech society through them. She also assumes the role of a protector of the original culture and mother tongue. I study the influence of the ethnic identity of mothers on the integration of their children into the new environment and the role of the mothers in the upbringing of a new citizen. I also study whether the migrants need services of Czech and migrant non-profit organizations for their participation on Czech civil society, or whether they use help of their countrymen. This study analyzes the relationship between motivation for civic engagement, migration experience, and identity, in first generation migrants. It draws upon the idea that civic engagement is beneficial for democratic societies in general, and that it can also be a source of great support for migrants in the process of integration into a new environment. So far, very little attention has been paid to the civic engagement of migrants in the Czech Republic, especially from the point of view of migrants themselves. This qualitative study aims towards a better understanding of the connections between migration and civic engagement. Personal histories of civic engagement of active migrants are analyzed, with an emphasis placed on the roles migration experience and ethnic/national identity shifts play in the process of civic engagement.
