Introduction Osseointegration has been used to define a direct structural and functional connection between ordered living bone and the surface of a load carrying implant [1].

Dental transposition is a form of ectopic eruption with change in position of normal adjacent teeth. Its prevalence is very low in general population and could be frequently missed on oral examination. This article reports a case of early orthodontic treatment of a rare unilateral mandibular right lateral incisor – canine transposition.

Maxillary lateral incisors vary in form more than any other tooth in the mouth except the third molars. If the variation is too great, it is considered a developmental anomaly. Developmental alterations which are most commonly associated with maxillary lateral incisors either unilaterally or bilaterally are microdontia, hypodontia, dens invaginatus and dens evaginatus (talon cusp). Microdontia is a condition where the teeth are smaller than the normal size, which may involve all the teeth or be limited to a single tooth or a group of teeth. However, involvement of single tooth is a rather common condition, especially involving maxillary lateral incisor. Microdontia of maxillary lateral incisor is called as "peg lateral", that exhibit converging mesial and distal surfaces of crown forming a cone like shape. The root on such a tooth is usually shorter than usual. In this article, a case is reported of a young patient with one congenitally missing and one peg shaped lateral incisor. The patient was treated with a combination of orthodontics, periodontal surgery and aesthetic restorative dentistry interventions. Objective: The objective of this retrospective study was to evaluate the success rate of ALTechnology implants used for single tooth replacement after a minimum of three years of loading at Center for Dentistry, Research & Aesthetics, Jatt, Almothalat, Israel. Method: Dental records for 43patients who underwent single tooth replacement using ALTechnology implant system at Center for Dentistry, Research & Aesthetics, Jatt, Almothalath, Israel during a three years period (2010-2012) were retrospectively analyzed. Only implants that were functioning for at least three years were included. Results: 152 AL-Technology implants were used for the replacement of single teeth in 43patients, 114(75%) implants were placed in the posterior regions, and 38 (25%) implants were placed in the anterior regions. All implants were restored with cement-retained crowns and have been in function for at least three years. Out of the total 152implants, two (1,3%) were considered failures as a result of significant radiographic bone loss. Therefore, the survival rate at three years was 98,7%. Conclusion: The results of this study suggested that AL-Technology implants could be a satisfactory choice for anterior and posterior single tooth restorations.

The continuously growing esthetic awareness for the facial appearance and the spreading of information about the possibilities of adult treatment by public media result in an increase of adult patients seek orthodontic treatment to improve their facial esthetics. In general, these patients show such a severe skeletal deformity that it is detectable even by non-experts because of its extraoral manifestation, which is the main motivation for treatment. Because of the nature of these deformities and because of the lacking growth usable for therapy the only promising treatment for these patients is the combined orthodontic-surgical approach. Besides a stable and functional occlusion with physiologic position of the condyle, the goals of treatment are the improvement of the dental and, above all, facial esthetics since the patient judges the success of treatment mostly by the extraoral appearance. The dentofacial appearance must be defined prior to treatment to plan the individual right approach in knowledge of the different treatment possibilities for Angle Class II deformities and thus be able to reach both sides -patient and orthodontist- satisfying result. With this article a systematic therapy concept to treat patients with Class II deformities and skeletal open bite with a long lower face (long face syndrome).

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate, using lateral cephalometry, the skeletal changes in maxillary bones induced through functional jaw orthopedic therapy. 30 patients with class II division 1 malocclusion and average age of 10.4 years were included in the study. Material and Methods: Cephalometric data were analyzed with the following methods: Burstone, McNamara, Rickets, Tweed and Wits and treatment changes were evaluated overlapping the lateral cephalograms on cranial base with sella registered. Results: The results showed reduced over-jet in average with 2.46 mm, mandibular advancement with a mean value of 2.72 mm and increasing of the total mandibular length with a mean value of 4.17 mm. Although we found an inhibiting in the anterior development of the maxilla with an average of 1.57 degree, the decrease of the anterior-posterior discrepancy was due especially to the mandible. Conclusions: It can be concluded that functional appliances were effective in correcting class II malocclusion. Changes of the position and mandible's length determined improved facial profile but did not correct it completely because of the chin that moved not only anterior but also downward, as a result of vertical ramus growth.
