Abstract

Background: Several subjects affected by cancer experience a significant level of multidi-mensional disease. This longitudinal study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of psycho-oncological support using Cinema as an emotional mediator and to promote perceived well-being by personalized psychological treatment. Methods: Thirty women diagnosed with gynecological cancer watched 12 movies and participated in a psychotherapy group co-conducted by two psychothera-pists. Patients completed nine questionnaires at T0 (baseline), T1 (3 months) and T2 (6 months). Results: Patients observed significant improvements (CORE-OM: p < 0.001) in psychological well-being. The results showed statistically significant differences, even in several other dimensions, such as Anxiety (STAY-Y1-2: p < 0.001), Empathy (BEES, p < 0.001), Coping (COPE: p < 0.001), QoL (QLQ-C30, p: 0.026), couple relationship (DAS, Satisfaction: p: 0.013; Cohesion: p: 0.004) and alexi-thymia (TAS-20, Difficulty Identifying Feeling: p: 0.002; Externally-Oriented Thinking: p: 0.003). Conclusions: The data show that cinema, as an innovative psychological approach, could be a valid instrument to support patients in oncological pathways as well as facilitating the process of recog-nizing themselves in other patients and communicating about their own feelings.

Abstract

Tese (doutorado) - Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação. Objeto desta tese de doutorado entrecruza dois temas: o tráfico de mulheres (crianças, adolescentes e jovens) e um processo de emancipação, inerente à condição dessas pessoas traficadas e confinadas pelos seus aliciadores. Duas questões podem ser colocadas: Em confinamento para fins de exploração sexual, há formas de aprendizado que podem ser referenciadas? Esses saberes poderiam ser pesquisados em trabalho de campo? O objetivo fundamental da pesquisa é, pois, investigar o tráfico de seres humanos e as possibilidades de uma aprendizagem durante o confinamento das vítimas. A metodologia de pesquisa circunscreve técnicas de história oral. Assim, a tese desenvolve-se no campo da narrativa, como uma forma de aprendizado através da experiência. Os processos de subjugação se opõem à ideia de emancipação. A escuta das vítimas fecunda horizontes para se vislumbrar aprendizagem por meio da experiência de aliciamento e confinamento. Já, nas casas de Transição ou de Passagem, que preparam as vítimas para sua inserção social, o trabalho representa um aprendizado rumo à autonomia financeira. A tentativa é de ressignificação da vida. As vítimas acolhidas são respeitadas em sua dignidade pessoal de seres humanos, com direito a escolhas e decisões. Os relatos registrados permitem construir categorias capazes de estruturar uma reflexão, tais como vulnerabilidade, família, violência e corpo. Ao trazer as seis narrativas em que se baseia a pesquisa, há que se lembrar do percurso feminino de submissão e de rebeldia da mulher. No caso presente, a referência diz respeito a mulheres traficadas para fins de exploração sexual. As lembranças rememoradas pelas entrevistadas remetem a uma situação de vulnerabilidade familiar, que as levou ao contexto do tráfico. Há um desejo de emancipação, de libertação. Há tensão entre os corpos domesticados e o desejo de romper com o vínculo familiar, delineado, não raro, pelo paradigma patriarcal. É preciso, então, descobrir vestígios para se compreender o sentido das histórias narradas pelas traficadas. A história da educação fica incompleta sem mostrar os processos antipedagógicos, desumanizantes, de segregação e de invisibilidade desses coletivos. A história de tantas antipedagogias também é história da pedagogia. O conceito de educação abarca um conjunto de processos que intervêm no desenvolvimento humano de indivíduos, em contextos de relações entre grupos e classes sociais, visando à sua formação. Se há possibilidades de uma aprendizagem durante o confinamento das vítimas, a pesquisa mostrou que sim. Aprender é condição de sobrevivência, de libertação, portanto, mesmo em situações adversas, há aprendizagem. O aprendizado não se dá exclusivamente em situações formais, como a escola.Ocorre também em situações informais e com mediações não necessariamente pedagógicas. This doctorate thesis aims to interweave two themes: women trafficking (children, teenagers or youngsters) and an emancipation process inherent to the condition of the people who have been trafficked and confined by those who have enticed them. Two questions can be raised: Are there any forms of learning in confinement situations for sexual exploitation? Could that knowledge be researched in the field? The major aim of this research is to investigate human trafficking and the possibilities for any learning while the victims are confined. The research methodology contains oral storytelling. Hence, the thesis is developed in the narrative field as a way of learning through experience. The subduing processes oppose the idea of emancipation. Listening to the victims fertilizes horizons to envision learning in the enticement and confinement experiences. However, in Halfway or Passage Houses, which prepare victims for their social readjustment, work means formal learning to achieve financial autonomy. It is an attempt to resignify life. Sheltered victims are respected in their personal dignity as human beings, entitled to their own choices and decisions. The accounts reported enable the elaboration of categories that can structure reflection, such as vulnerability, family, violence and body. When bringing up the five accounts on which the research is based, it is imperative to remember womens journey of submission and rebelling. The study refers to trafficked women for sexual exploitation. The interviewed womens memories refer to family vulnerability, which led them to the trafficking context. There is the wish for emancipation and liberation. There is tension between the domesticated bodies and the desire to break the family ties, commonly outlined by patriarchal paradigm. Hence the need to discover traces to be able to understand the meaning of the stories told by the trafficked women. The history of education is incomplete if the nonpedagogical, dehumanizing, segregating processes and the invisibility of these groups are not shown. The history of so many nonpedagogies is also the history of pedagogy. The concept of education encompasses an array of processes that intervenes in the individuals human development, in the context of the relationship among groups and social classes aiming at their formation. If learning is possible while victims are confined, the research has proved so. Learning is a condition for survival and liberation, therefore, even in adverse situations there is learning. Learning does not occur solely in formal situations, like schools. It also occurs in informal situations and with mediations that are not necessarily pedagogical. Since the eighties, the subject of brand equity has been one of the best-known and discussed concepts in the academic literature of marketing. Due to this, on one hand it has allowed to increase its importance, but on the other hand, it also meant a proliferation of definitions, conceptualizations and theories, without a unique and universally accepted ones (Keller, Busacca, & Ostillio, 2005). In particular, a major area of concern within this academic strand is related to methods and models of measuring brand equity, because this analysis can be a very important tool, not only for the marketing management, but also, and especially, for the whole business management. The objective of this doctoral thesis is threefold. First, it offers a detailed review of the literature about methods and measurement models of customer-based brand equity, starting with an overview of the definitions of brand and brand equity, as well as the advantages of a positive brand equity and the potential uses of this parameter within the business management. Moreover, it allows analyzing which product categories and communication tools have already been presented in the literature, in relation to the impacts of these tools on brand equity. In this context, particular attention is paid on the issue of communication 2.0, on its peculiarities and the new challenges that brand equity is taken to address through these media. In fact, the impact of social media on business performance remains an issue a little bit explored (Bruhn, Schoenmueller, & Schaefer, 2012; Schivinski & Dabrowski, 2015). Subsequently, I intend to present an innovative model for measuring customer-based brand equity 2.0. More in details, through the literature review it is possible to identify assumptions, measurement scales, items and methods useful for the formulation of a measurement model of customer-based brand equity. Specifically, it has been identified the methodology of structural equation modeling, which allow to check for any relationships between components (brand equity and communication mix), and the direction and size of these ties (Anderson & Gerbing, 1988). In particular, the reference model for comparing the results of the analysis has been identified in the one proposed by the authors Yoo, Donthu and Lee, which studied the impact of the main elements of the marketing mix on the components of consumer-based brand equity conceptualized by Aaker (Aaker, 1997; Yoo, Donthu, & Lee, 2000). Finally, the above model is integrated with the items proposed by the authors Brhun and Schivinski, which analyzed the impact of social media on consumers-based brand equity (Bruhn et al., 2012; Schivinski & Dabrowski, 2015). The third and last objective of this work is to verify the validity of the model within the competitive dynamics of a specific product category, the beer ones. To this end, the analysis is developed through a survey to fans and followers of the major social media of some beer brands among the best known, both at international level, and of both national one. In this way, it is possible to test the existence of the hypothesized relations between the most modern communication tools 2.0 and the major components of customer-based brand equity.

18. Pre-event marketing and territorial governance: the case of Monza and Brianza province

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine whether and how a mega event can be an opportunity for a territory to be developed as a marketing product. The topic is analysed in the pre-event phase, from the point of view of marketing mix and governance. Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative method was adopted with a case study on Monza and Brianza province (northern Italy) which is strongly involved in EXPO2015 initiatives. The triangulation among multiple sources such as documents, interviews and observation, allow for deeper data collection. Findings: A mega event can enhance development and repositioning also of minor territories. There are, however, two main conditions for benefiting from such an opportunity: to plan the marketing mix, taking into account people and partnerships, and to ensure a vision on territory through coordination with a legacy perspective. Research limitations/implications: This study is not representative or generalizable. However, it gives insights into the mechanism of coordination and collaboration between different stakeholders and on how to plan the Monza and Brianza marketing mixes. Practical implications: The research has implications for governance mechanisms and for marketing politics both for public and private decision-makers, especially in the pre-mega event phase, but also with some inputs into legacy phase. Originality/value: The research is original for three reasons: the context concerns Monza and Brianza province, and so can help understand how mega events can help a minor territory reposition itself; the research looks at the managerial implications of place marketing in this pre-event phase; and in Italy, provinces are being reorganized or abolished: this case study looks at a province and its future.

This is mainly due to a highly competitive business environment where resources are limited and knowledge is often seen as a commodity. This makes it difficult for firms to differentiate themselves over their competitors, where intangibles became the main drivers for competitive advantage. This research tries to provide empirical findings on the role of communication developing intangibles assets, with a focus on the SMEs of the territory of Monza and Brianza. Through a quantitative analysis on 886 SMEs, we developed a PCA on the variables of communication objectives and tools, in order to represent the graphical distribution of respondents with respect to their use of communication. The added value of the research concerns the significant empirical evidence to the how and why for SMEs when implementing their communication strategies.

Abstract

Obiettivo del paper: Presentare una metodologia innovativa di esercizio di foresight che risponda alle esigenze derivanti dai cambiamenti del contesto sociale, tecnologico ed economico. Metodologia: Abbiamo analizzato un excursus storico all’interno della letteratura classica della metodologia e degli ambiti di applicazione di esercizi di foresight, per evincere quali siano i limiti di tale approccio. Abbiamo poi elaborato un metodologia innovativa e applicato la stessa a un caso pratico nel settore della nautica da diporto. Risultati: Attraverso un esercizio di foresight si realizzano schemi di sintesi (le Road Map) che prendono in considerazione le risorse e le strategie degli attori locali e diventano un riferimento per gli operatori economici, gli enti di ricerca e le Istituzioni del territorio. Limiti della ricerca: Non è stato possibile verificare l’adeguatezza degli output dell’esercizio di foresight nel settore della nautica da diporto, in quanto è necessario attendere il termine dei tempi previsionali di sviluppo delle proposte. Si tratta peraltro di limiti connessi alla natura del modello proposto che non è funzionale ad indicare soluzioni, ma a favorire comportamenti di tipo proattivo. Implicazioni pratiche: La metodologia costituisce una guida operativa dettagliata allo svolgimento di un esercizio di foresight e anche alla rappresentazione dei relativi output attraverso lo strumento delle Road Map. Originalità del paper: La metodologia presenta sostanziali differenze dai tradizionali esercizi di foresight tecnologici e dalle realizzazioni più recenti volte a privilegiare anche aspetti di tipo sociale
