The main obstacles to reverse osmosis desalination processes are high energy intensity and long-term continuity. Temperature and pressure have the greatest and most significant effects on energy use. The main objectives of the current study are to determine the pressure and temperature-dependent optimal operating parameters for a membrane desalination unit. To determine the ideal operating settings for a membrane unit, the impact of changing pressure and temperature on its performance was investigated. These two elements are closely connected to the energy consumption per cubic meter under various operating situations. The present work is experimentally carried out in a research laboratory for capacity building and future research studies in the desalination field established in the National Center of Water Research – Egypt. This laboratory is Egypt’s first multi-functional Desalination Research Station for seawater, brackish water, and related water treatment areas. The plant is equipped with online instrumentation and Data Acquisition System and 13 sensors for most physical parameters which economically affect membrane performance and desalination processes. These parameters, particularly pressure and temperature, are measured, evaluated and analyzed. According to the findings in this study, feed salinity and feed pressure both have significant impacts.At 13 bar pressure, the maximum salt rejection was 98.8%. When feed pressure is increased from 5 to 13 bars, there is a 73.3% decrease in permeate salinity. Additionally, applying a 13 bar feed pressure to water with a salinity of 1000 ppm results in the best water quality of 12 ppm. The relationship between feed pressure, brine salinity, and membrane water recovery appeared to be approximately linear and positive. More crucially, it was discovered that feed pressure, salinity, and water recovery are all constants for water permeability. A prototype for the maximum pressure (ranges from 15.6 to 10.8) and temperature (ranges from 21 to 35) at which the optimal recovery of the laboratory occurred was developed. Moreover, the developed prototype includes the corresponding permeate TDS and a specific energy for each optimal point.

4. New vaccination approach using formalin-killed Streptococcus pyogenes vaccine on the liver of Oreochromis niloticus fingerlings

Abstract Newly synthesized vaccines prepared from formalin-killed bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes were investigated in the current study to evaluate the effectiveness of the newly synthesized vaccine as well as their safety by injected intraperitoneal. The study involved several steps 1st step is the preparation of the vaccine followed by the 2nd step: Evaluate the effectiveness and vaccine safety against pathogenic S. pyogenes through 4 different groups including control (Group I). Group II (Bacterial, infected group), Group III (Vaccine), and the Last group was the challenged group after the vaccination (Vacc + Bac). Different Immunological and biochemical parameters were measured in addition to hematological and histopathological examinations. For example, oxidative/antioxidants, inflammatory biomarkers, fragmentation and cell damage, and finally the histopathological study. The current study showed an increase in all oxidative, inflammatory, and cell damage (DNA fragmentation assays), additionally markedly elevation in histopathological cell damage in the infected group (Group II) compared with the control group. The vaccine and challenged after vaccination group (vaccine + Bacteria), showed great improvement in oxidative biomarkers (LPO) and an increase in antioxidants biomarkers (GSH, SOD, GST, DPPH, ABTS, GR and GPx), Also the inflammation and histopathological examination. The newly synthesized vaccine improved the resistance of Oreochromis niloticus and can be used as a preventive therapy agent for pathogenic bacteria S. pyogenes.

5. The structures control the evolution of molasse basins and alteration zones occurrences in the northwestern sector of the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt

Abstract Integration between the analyses of both fieldwork and remote sensing dataset were employed to assess the structural evolution of molasse basins and explore gold mineral deposits in the El Qash area, Central Eastern Desert of Egypt. Sandstone, mudstones, wacke, and pebbly conglomerates make up most of the sediments in the molasse basins. The younger basins (595–575 Ma) are small, less weathered, and mostly Dokhan detritus-filled basins compared to the larger older basins (> 625–605 Ma), which have more weathered sources mainly of arc metavolcanics. The molasse basins appear to have originated in a north–south regional extensional setting, characterized by a prolonged period of left-lateral transtension combined with the formation of NNE-trending synformal folds during an ENE–WSW compression phase. Notably, en-echelon arrays of normal faults, oriented perpendicular to the boundary of the strike-slip shear zone, are a recurring feature in basins formed through transtension. Furthermore, oblique NE-SW compression played a role in generating SW-dipping thrust faults and regional folding with NW–SE orientation, along with the reactivation of transtensional normal faults in a reverse manner. Multispectral satellite imagery data and radar data are used to map the relevant lithological units, structures, and hydrothermal alteration zones. This study concludes that the regions where gold deposits may be explored in connection with prospecting alteration minerals include the area around the ophiolitic assemblages, and the granitic intrusions, in addition to the felsite and the molasse sediments contacts.

Background: For use in specialized programs in the food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic, and animal feed sectors, micro-algal biomass has been generated industrially. They can be grown in closed buildings, such as photobioreactors, or open structures. The utilization of biomass from microalgae for energy production is another crucial topic. Because of the world’s diminishing petroleum sources and the greenhouse gas emissions from gasoline lines, it is now obvious that fuels generated from petroleum are not sustainable. Results: Microalgae can produce a variety of unique, sustainable biofuels. These include biodiesel made from trans-esterification of microalgal lipids, bioethanol from fermentation of carbohydrates, methane created by anaerobic digestion of algal biomass, and biohydrogen produced by photobiological processes. The idea of using microalgae as a fuel source is not entirely novel. Conclusion: This analysis emphasizes the significance of recent and noteworthy advancements in the industrial usage of microalgae, with an emphasis on their biotechnological applications.

L’objectif de la présente étude est de détecter les traductions ratées dans le dictionnaire « Expressions idiomatiques arabes » de Moussaoui, d'en expliquer les raisons et de suggérer à la place des traductions françaises correctes. Nous avons suivi une approche analytique basée sur la théorie de Scopos. D’après notre analyse, il ressort que donner une traduction littérale de l’expression est une étape intermédiaire importante qui devrait précéder l’offre de l’équivalent définitif en français dans le dictionnaire. Elle devrait être adaptée au système linguistique de la langue cible. Elle donnerait au lecteur du dictionnaire des perceptions culturelles précises de la langue de départ. Toute traduction ratée à cet égard empêche le lecteur de saisir des aspects cognitifs importants liés à cette langue. Ces traductions littérales doivent être suivies des équivalents minutieusement choisis dans la langue cible. Le traducteur devrait être conscient de la portée exacte de l’utilisation des expressions originales. La traduction littérale et l’équivalent final formeraient ainsi des matières brutes grâce à lesquelles, le lecteur du dictionnaire sera capable, d’abord en arabe, de bien choisir l’expression idiomatique adaptée à la situation. Ensuite en français, il pourra adopter les équivalents proposés dans le dictionnaire, en trouver d’autre formes dans sa langue, ou bien en forger des formes toutes neuves. Par ailleurs, traduire les expressions idiomatiques obsolètes exige en particulier d’en authentifier la forme et le sens. Traduire ses expressions serait ainsi une façon de les faire revivre dans leur langue d’origine et de partager la sagesse qu’elles impliquent avec d’autres langues.الهدف من الدراسة الحالية هو الكشف عن الترجمات الخاطئة في معجم "التعبيرات الاصطلاحية العربية" لموسوي، وشرح أسبابها واقتراح ترجمات فرنسية صحيحة بدلا منها. وقد اتبعنا منهجا تحليليا يعتمد على نظرية الهدف. وقد تبين من خلال تحليلنا أن إعطاء ترجمة حرفية للتعبير هو مرحلة وسيطة مهمة يجب أن تسبق إعطاء المكافئ الفرنسي في صورته النهائية في المعجم. ويجب أن تتكيف هذه الترجمة الحرفية مع النظام اللغوي للّغة الهدف. حيث أن من شأنها أن تعطي قارئ القاموس تصورات ثقافية دقيقة للّغة المصدر. وأي ترجمة فاشلة في هذا الصدد ستحول دون استيعاب القارئ لجوانب معرفية مهمة متعلقة بتلك اللغة. وعقب هذه الترجمات الحرفية، يجب أن تأتي مكافئات من اللغة الهدف مختارة بعناية. وينبغي أن يكون المترجم على دراية دقيقة بنطاق استخدام التعبيرات الأصلية. ومن ثم فإن الترجمة الحرفية والمكافئ النهائي سيشكلان سويا موادا أولية سيتمكن بفضلها بداية قارئ القاموس، من اختيار التعبير الاصطلاحي الذي يتناسب مع الموقف في اللغة العربية. ثم سيكون قادرا في اللغة الفرنسية على قبول المكافئات التي يطرحها المعجم، أو إيجاد أشكال أخرى منها في لغته، أو صكّ أشكال جديدة تماما. علاوة على ذلك، فإن ترجمة التعبيرات الاصطلاحية القديمة تتطلب بشكل خاص التحقق من مبناها ومعناها. وبالتالي فإن ترجمتها ستكون وسيلة لإعادتها إلى الحياة في لغتها الأصلية ومشاركة الحكمة التي تنطوي عليها مع اللغات الأخرى.

8. Improving breast cancer multidisciplinary meetings through streamlining with protocol-based management

Objectives Multidisciplinary meetings (MDMs) are part of standard of care for patients with cancer. Streamlining is essential for high-quality care and efficiency. This study evaluated the feasibility of implementing a protocol to remove patients with benign breast disease from discussion at the MDM.Methods A prospective review of 218 MDMs evaluated patients with benign breast disease over 22 months. This was followed by a protocol implementation phase over 54 MDMs (6.5 months). Patients meeting specific criteria were excluded from discussion.Results On average, each MDM consisted of 37 patients, 34.2% of whose conditions were benign and potentially could have been removed from discussion. The implementation phase showed 708/2248 patients (32.5%) were benign of which 631 cases (89%) met the eligibility criteria and were removed from the MDM list allowing more time for discussion of complex cases.Conclusion Implementing a protocol can safely exclude patients with benign disease from MDM discussion.

Psoriasis and breast cancer are two examples of diseases where associated inflammatory pathways within the body’s immune system are implicated. Psoriasis is a complex, chronic and incurable inflammatory skin disorder that is primarily recognized by thick, scaly plaques on the skin. The most noticeable pathophysiological effect of psoriasis is the abnormal proliferation of keratinocytes. Breast cancer is currently the most diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related death among women globally. While treatments targeting the primary tumor have significantly improved, preventing metastasis with systemic treatments is less effective. Nanocarriers such as liposomes and lipid nanoparticles have emerged as promising drug delivery systems for drug targeting and specificity. Advances in technologies and drug combinations have emerged to develop more efficient lipid nanocarriers to include more than one drug in combinational therapy to enhance treatment outcomes and/or relief symptoms for better patients’ quality of life. Although there are FDA-approved liposomes with anti-cancer drugs for breast cancer, there are still unmet clinical needs to reduce the side effects associated with those nanomedicines. Hence, combinational nano-therapy may eliminate some of the issues and challenges. Furthermore, there are no nanomedicines yet clinically available for psoriasis. Hence, this review will focus on liposomes encapsulated single and/or combinational therapy to augment treatment outcomes with an emphasis on the effectiveness of combinational therapy within liposomal-based nanoparticulate drug delivery systems to tackle psoriasis and breast cancer. This review will also include an overview of both diseases, challenges in delivering drug therapy and the roles of nanomedicines as well as psoriasis and breast cancer models used for testing therapeutic interventions to pave the way for effective in vivo testing prior to the clinical trials.

Variability in SARS-CoV-2 susceptibility and COVID-19 disease severity between individuals is partly due to genetic factors. Here, we identify 4 genomic loci with suggestive associations for SARS-CoV-2 susceptibility and 19 for COVID-19 disease severity. Four of these 23 loci likely have an ethnicity-specific component. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) signals in 11 loci colocalize with expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs) associated with the expression of 20 genes in 62 tissues/cell types (range: 1:43 tissues/gene), including lung, brain, heart, muscle, and skin as well as the digestive system and immune system. We perform genetic fine mapping to compute 99% credible SNP sets, which identify 10 GWAS loci that have eight or fewer SNPs in the credible set, including three loci with one single likely causal SNP. Our study suggests that the diverse symptoms and disease severity of COVID-19 observed between individuals is associated with variants across the genome, affecting gene expression levels in a wide variety of tissue types.

16. Gender differences in two-dimensional and three-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography left ventricular measurements among healthy preschool pediatric population

Abstract Background Speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE) is an upcoming echocardiographic modality to measure global as well as segmental left ventricular systolic function expressed numerically as strain values independent of angle and ventricular geometry. We conducted this prospective study on 200 healthy preschool children with structurally normal hearts, to determine gender-based differences in two-dimensional (2D) global longitudinal strain (GLS) and three-dimensional (3D) GLS. Results Age-matched 104 males and 96 females were included, 2D GLS results for the males showed longitudinal strain ranging from − 18.1 to − 29.8 with a mean of − 21.7202 ± 5.094322, while for females 2D GLS ranged from − 18.1 to − 30.7 with a mean of − 22.0646 ± 2.167802, also 3D GLS values were measured and compared based on gender, where 3D GLS in males ranged from − 18 to − 24 with a mean value of 20.49 ± 1.28, while for females ranged from − 17 to − 30 with a mean value of 20.47 ± 1.755. The gender-based difference for both 2D GLS and 3D GLS showed non-significant P values. Conclusion In healthy subjects below 6 years, 2D STE and 3D STE values showed no difference between males and females, unlike the adult population, to the best of our knowledge, this is one of the few studies in the literature that aims at comparing these measurements in the healthy pediatric group. In routine clinical practice, these values may be used to assess myocardial function or the early signs of malfunction.

Abstract This study presents the first preliminary phytochemical screening and investigation of the lipoidal matter of Latania verschaffeltii Lem. leaves, belonging to the Arecaceae family. Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectroscopy (GC/MS) was used to analyze and identify compounds of saponifiable and unsaponifiable content. The preliminary phytochemical screening of total methanolic extract of Latania verschaffeltii Lem. leaves revealed the presence of unsaturated sterols and/or triterpenes, carbohydrates and/or glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and phenolic acids in the leaves. However, cardenolides, cyanogenic compounds, alkaloids, and iridoids were not detected. The results of the gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis indicated that the percentage of saturated fatty acids (83.82%) is higher than that of unsaturated fatty acids (9.42%). The predominant methyl ester of a saturated fatty acid detected in the sample was hexadecanoic acid methyl ester, accounting for 41.68% of the total. The composition of the unsaponifiable matter consisted of hydrocarbons (5.66%), fatty alcohols (0.96%), terpenes (85.97%), and sterols (2.18%). The major terpenes observed were phytol (43.62%) and squalene (39.27%).

Secondary, and the result of this analytical study of a number of packages was that these packages depended on the techniques of securing against opening by children by integrating two movements together in the design of the carton package to control the closing and opening system with consecutive intended movements in a specific synchronization, and these techniques were also able to provide a simplified mechanism for the process Opening a child under seven years old cannot perceive it in a short period of time

This study was aimed to investigate the hepatoprotective potential of dapagliflozin and silymarin alone and in combination to combat carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatotoxicity and the anticipated mechanisms. Thirty female Wistar rats were randomly allocated into five different groups. All the experimental animals except the normal control (Group I) were administered CCl4. Additionally, Groups II, III, IV, and V were treated with gum acacia, silymarin, dapagliflozin, and a combination of dapagliflozin and silymarin, respectively, for 14 days. Dapagliflozin, silymarin alone, and in combination, significantly reduced (p < 0.05) serum levels of ALT, AST, AST:ALT ratio, and total bilirubin compared to CCl4-intoxicated control rats. There was a notable reduction (p < 0.05) observed in the levels of IL-1beta, IL-6, TNF-alpha, nitrites, and 4-hydroxynonenal, accompanied by an elevation in catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, nuclear erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in liver homogenates of the groups treated with dapagliflozin, silymarin alone, and in combination, as compared to the CCl4-intoxicated control group. Dapagliflozin in combination with silymarin showed a synergistic hepatoprotective effect. Our study reveals the profound hepatoprotective potential of dapagliflozin alone and in combination with silymarin in CCl4-intoxicated Wistar rats by modulating the Nrf2 and HO-1 signaling pathways.

BackgroundCurrent evidence supports physical activity (PA) as an adjunctive treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD). Few studies, however, have examined the relationship between objectively measured PA and MDD treatment outcomes using prospective data. ObjectiveThis study is a secondary analysis of data from a 24-week internet-based, mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy program for MDD. The purpose of this analysis was twofold: (1) to examine average daily step counts in relation to MDD symptom improvement, and whether pain moderated this relationship; and (2) to examine whether changes in step activity (ie, step trajectories) during treatment were associated with baseline symptoms and symptom improvement. MethodsPatients from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health were part of a randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of internet-based, mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy for young adults (aged 18-30 years old) with MDD. Data from 20 participants who had completed the intervention were analyzed. PA, in the form of objectively measured steps, was measured using the Fitbit-HR Charge 2 (Fitbit Inc), and self-reported depression severity was measured with the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). Linear regression analysis was used to test PA’s relationship with depression improvement and the moderating effect of pain severity and pain interference. Growth curve and multivariable regression models were used to test longitudinal associations. ResultsParticipants walked an average of 8269 steps per day, and each additional +1000-step difference between participants was significantly associated with a 2.66-point greater improvement (reduction) in BDI-II, controlling for anxiety, pain interference, and adherence to Fitbit monitoring (P=.02). Pain severity appeared to moderate (reduce) the positive effect of average daily steps on BDI-II improvement (P=.03). Purpose To assess parameters of corneal topography and higher order aberrations (HOAs) data in the apparently normal contralateral eyes of unilateral keratoconus (KC) cases in comparison with normal eyes of healthy individuals. Patients and methods This observational case-control study included 70 eyes divided into two equal groups; group A was the fellow eyes of unilateral keratoconus patients and group B included the normal control eyes. They were examined by Schimpflug camera to extract the study parameters (keratometry indices, the inferior-superior(I-S) difference at 4 mm, posterior elevation (PE), front and back difference, thickness progression index, corneal pachymetry, multimetric D index (D index), topometric indices and Zernike analysis). Results In comparing the study data between Groups A and B, we demonstrated that ISV, IVA, and CKI had no difference between the two groups. But other topometric parameters showed statistically significant differences between the two groups. 24. Neurovascular Findings and Associated Risk Factors in Stroke in Young and Middle-Aged Patients: A Single Center Experience

Background: The increasing incidence of stroke in younger people underscores the urgent need for research to elucidate the underlying risk factors and causes. To date, the vast majority of studies of stroke in young people have been conducted in European and North American regions. Aim of the work: To characterize the neurovascular findings and associated risk factors for stroke in young and middle-aged patients at Almoosa Hospital in Saudi Arabia.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from consecutive patients with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack aged 25 to 60 years who underwent detailed cardiocerebrovascular examination.Results: The study included 182 patients, most of whom [89%] presented with stroke and 11% with transient ischemic attack. The mean age was 51.2±8.4 years [25-60 years], 62.6% were men, mean BMI was 30.7±5.4, 41.2% were smokers, 52.7% were diabetic, 60.4% had hypertension, and 38.5% had dyslipidemia. Cardiac risk factors were valvular heart disease [34.1%], ischemic heart disease [16.5%], cardiac thrombi [8.8%], and septal defects [4.4%]. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed anterior circulation infarction in 47.3% and posterior circulation infarction in 14.3%, whereas both anterior and posterior circulation infarction were found in 27.5%. Neurovascular imaging of the neck was performed in 102 patients, with 16.5% having mild stenosis, 7.7% moderate stenosis, 9.9% severe stenosis 8.8%, and 5.5% complete stenosis. Carotid arteries duplex examination revealed insignificant stenosis in 15.4% and significant stenosis in 6.6%. Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia had a major impact on the extent of stenosis, whereas DM 2 and dyslipidemia were significantly more common in patients with increasing degrees of stenosis.Conclusion: In this study young patients with ischemic stroke had different cerebro-vascular risk factors and etiologies compared with previous cohorts, indicating the need for tailored prevention interventions that take into account regional epidemiological data on cerebrovascular health.

Ever-changing consumer preferences have urged hotel properties to continuously innovate to ensure business sustainability. Particularly in the sales context, the manifestation of this threat is due to the lack of a single optimum approach to selling. Thus, being creative and generating new ideas is imperative for good salespeople to attract customers. To address this lack of an existing componential model of creativity and to uncover the hidden cognitive mechanism underlined with this theory, this study investigated the direct relationship as well as the mediating effect of employee mindfulness on the relationship between transformational leadership and creativity of salespeople. In addition, this study examined the moderating effect of improvization on the relationship between mindfulness and employee creativity. Data collected from 275 salespeople working in the hospitality industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain revealed a significant positive association between transformational leadership and employee creativity. Furthermore, the findings show that employee mindfulness plays a salient role as a mediator in this indirect relationship. 28. Study of Association of MTHFR C677T Gene Polymorphism and Folate Level in Colorectal Cancer Patients.

Background: Genomic DNA replication, DNA repair, and folate metabolism are all impacted by methyltransferase (MTHFR), an important enzyme in folate metabolism. Among the many diseases associated with common functional variants of MTHFR, cancer is one. Objective: to study the link between the C677T mutation of the MTHFR gene and the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). Patients and Methods: Included in this case-control study were thirty patients with a confirmed colorectal cancer (CRC) diagnosis by histopathology and twenty healthy controls who were matched for gender and age. In a laboratory setting, PCR-RFLP was used to determine the MTHFR C677T genotype and blood folic acid levels. Results: In comparison to the healthy controls, people with colorectal cancer had far lower mean folic acid levels. A much lower percentage of CC genotype was found in people with colorectal cancer compared to healthy controls. No statistically significant trend was observed in the increasing frequency of CT and TT genotypes among CRC patients. A statistically significant increase in CRC relative to controls was indicated by a 2.5-fold higher T allele frequency in CRC patients compared to controls. The CC genotype had a greater folic acid level than the TT genotype, according to an analysis of MTHFR C677T genotypes in healthy controls and colorectal cancer patients. Conclusion: colorectal carcinoma is associated with low folate status. MTHFR 677 T allele is associated with colorectal carcinoma in cases of low folate concentration. Adequate folate supplementation is required for people who carry the 677TT genotype to lower the risk of colorectal cancer occurrence. Abstract Background Accurate measurements of left ventricular (LV) volumes and function are important in the management of patients with various cardiac abnormalities. Two-dimensional (2D) speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) is shown to be accurate in detecting subclinical myocardial dysfunction when most of the conventional echocardiography parameters were normal. Three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography is a new noninvasive imaging technique that has been shown to be accurate in determining cardiac volume and performance. Establishment of normal range values of 3D STE over a different range of ages is crucial before applying this recent technology in clinical applications. This study aimed to assess feasibility of 3D LV STE and establish normal values for the LV systolic function among healthy Egyptian preschool-age pediatric population using 2D and 3D STE. Results A total of 200 subjects (95%) met the criteria for 2DSTE analysis, 10 were excluded from the 2D analysis and 180 subjects (85%) met the criteria for 3D STE analysis. Regarding the 2D STE GLS, the mean was -22.1345 ± 2.166%, GCS was f -19.02 ± 1.23%, and GRS was 42.25 ± 2.35%. There was a strongly positive significant correlation between age and 2D values of GLS (P = 0.001). The GCS showed a weakly positive nonsignificant correlation with age (P = 0.28), while GRS showed a strongly negative significant correlation with age (P = 0.001). Regarding the 3D STE data, GLS mean was -20.48 ± 1.526%, GCS mean was -13.90 ± 2.05%, while GRS mean was 47.21 ± 2.382%. 3D GLS values had a strongly positive significant correlation with age (P = 0.001). While GCS showed a weakly positive nonsignificant correlation (P = 0.955), GRS showed a strongly negative significant correlation (P = 0.001). Linear correlation analysis of 2D and 3D values of strain showed that GLS had a strongly positive significant correlation (P = 0.001), while GCS showed a weakly positive nonsignificant correlation (P = 0.161) and GRS showed a strongly positive significant correlation (P = 0.001). Conclusions 3D global strain analysis using the 3D STE is feasible in the preschool-age pediatric population. Results were almost concordant with previous observations in most of the values except for GCS, especially 3D values which could be attributed to different vendor system used and different ethnicity. Further studies are required to reinforce these data using the GE vendor machine.

The grain refinement of aluminium alloys is one of the important processes in various industrial fields. This work aims to use aluminium-vanadium (Al-V) master alloy as a new grain refiner for grain refinement of aluminium alloys. The new refiner was prepared by reduction of vanadium pentoxide V2O5 using molten aluminium, then it was examined using SEM, EDS, XRD, and optical microscopy. The findings of these tests indicated that the developed master alloy contains blocky-shaped particles evenly distributed within the aluminium matrix Al3V in the form of an intermetallic compound. Different levels of vanadium content were examined (3.5, 5.6, and 8.3) as grain refiners for commercial pure Al and 6063 alloys. It was found that the grain size was decreased from 2000 to 320 mm for commercial pure aluminium and decreased from 1500 to 300 mm for 6063 alloys. The best results were obtained by using vanadium content of 0.03 wt.% in the refined alloy and a holding time of 3 min. Based on the gross restriction factor (GRF), the new grain refiner Al-V master alloy performed well at vanadium contents more than 0.02 wt.% in the refined alloy.

In the sake of enhancing the thermal stability of α-Tocopheryl acetate (α-TA) and Strawberry Anthocyanins (AN), their encapsulation with starch or β-Cyclodextrin were prepared and characterized by UV-Vis and IR spectra in addition to thermal analysis. Thermal stability was investigated by comparing the thermographs of each host and guest with that of the prepared complex. Both hosts provided extra thermal stability to both guests where α-TA is stabilized from 230 to 291oC by complexation with starch and to 285oC by encapsulation with β-CD. AN was also stabilized from 40.02oC to 75.57 and 79.46oC by complexation with starch and β-CD respectively.

34. Enhancing the Effectiveness of Strengthening RC columns with CFRP sheets

The column is the most important structural element were strengthening of columns became a demanding issue. In this paper, the effectiveness of strengthening reinforced concrete (R.C) columns with carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) wraps has been improved by increasing the contact area between the column’s surface area and CFRP. A new strengthening technique was hired for the purpose of enhancing the efficiency of CFRP jackets in improving the load capacity of R.C columns, especially columns with rectangular sections. The method is based on increasing the contact area between the CFRP jacket and the column's surface area. This was done by adjusting the profile of the col's cross-section to almost ellipsoidal. The experimental program in this research includes testing 13 columns to include all test parameters, the shape of the cross-section, and the cross-section profile. The results include axial stresses and corresponding axial strains, and lateral strains at the mid-height and quarter height of tested specimens. And also, the cracking load and maximum load with crack patterns are determined. The comparison involved the study of the effect of the traditional CFRP jacket wrapping of R.C columns with square, and rectangular sections and the newly developed strengthening technique. A theoretical study was also conducted. Where the capacity of the square and rectangular confined columns with different radius of curvature, R, of the ellipsoidal profile is determined by the predicted and design equations. The study revealed that the strengthening technique is expected to effectively enhance the efficiency of the CFRP strengthening technique, especially for columns with square and rectangular sections as the area of the well-known dead zone of these columns is reduced using the proposed technique. Also, the results proved that the efficiency of strengthening tested columns by CFRP jacket has been enhanced using the strengthening technique by about 80% of original RC columns, which exceeds the traditional method (Jacket) CFRP wrap by 60%.

Continuous action spaces impose a serious challenge for reinforcement learning agents. While several off-policy reinforcement learning algorithms provide a universal solution to continuous control problems, the real challenge lies in the fact that different actuators feature different response functions due to wear and tear (in mechanical systems) and fatigue (in biomechanical systems). In this paper, we propose enhancing the actor-critic reinforcement learning agents by parameterising the final layer in the actor network. This layer produces the actions to accommodate the behaviour discrepancy of different actuators under different load conditions during interaction with the environment. To achieve this, the actor is trained to learn the tuning parameter controlling the activation layer (e.g., Tanh and Sigmoid). The learned parameters are then used to create tailored activation functions for each actuator. We ran experiments on three OpenAI Gym environments, i.e., Pendulum-v0, LunarLanderContinuous-v2, and BipedalWalker-v2. Results showed an average of 23.15% and 33.80% increase in total episode reward of the LunarLanderContinuous-v2 and BipedalWalker-v2 environments, respectively. There was no apparent improvement in Pendulum-v0 environment but the proposed method produces a more stable actuation signal compared to the state-of-the-art method. The proposed method allows the reinforcement learning actor to produce more robust actions that accommodate the discrepancy in the actuators’ response functions. This is particularly useful for real life scenarios where actuators exhibit different response functions depending on the load and the interaction with the environment. This also simplifies the transfer learning problem by fine-tuning the parameterised activation layers instead of retraining the entire policy every time an actuator is replaced. Finally, the proposed method would allow better accommodation to biological actuators (e.g., muscles) in biomechanical systems.

Summary: Background: Early death after cancer surgery is higher in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) compared with in high-income countries, yet the impact of facility characteristics on early postoperative outcomes is unknown. The aim of this study was to examine the association between hospital infrastructure, resource availability, and processes on early outcomes after cancer surgery worldwide. Methods: A multimethods analysis was performed as part of the GlobalSurg 3 study—a multicentre, international, prospective cohort study of patients who had surgery for breast, colorectal, or gastric cancer. The primary outcomes were 30-day mortality and 30-day major complication rates. Potentially beneficial hospital facilities were identified by variable selection to select those associated with 30-day mortality. Adjusted outcomes were determined using generalised estimating equations to account for patient characteristics and country-income group, with population stratification by hospital. Findings: Between April 1, 2018, and April 23, 2019, facility-level data were collected for 9685 patients across 238 hospitals in 66 countries (91 hospitals in 20 high-income countries; 57 hospitals in 19 upper-middle-income countries; and 90 hospitals in 27 low-income to lower-middle-income countries). The availability of five hospital facilities was inversely associated with mortality: ultrasound, CT scanner, critical care unit, opioid analgesia, and oncologist. Objectives To assess the predictive value of the initial uterine artery Doppler indices, the pulsatility index (PI), and resistance index (RI) in the prediction of heavy menstrual bleeding before and after copper intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) insertion. Methods The current prospective clinical study included 100 women who intended to use a copper IUCD (Cu T-380A) and met the inclusion criteria. Uterine artery Doppler PI and RI indices were calculated before IUCD insertion and at three and six months after insertion. Based on the presence or absence of menorrhagia, all women were classified into two groups: non-bleeding (n=52) and extreme menstrual bleeding (n=48). Receiver operating curve analysis was used to determine the predictive value of uterine artery PI and RI in patients with menorrhagia relevant to IUCD. Background and Aim: Babesia species are tick-borne protozoan parasites of apicomplexan type which infect the erythrocytes of dogs it ranges from subclinical to severe cases, depending on different factors such as immune status, age, and presence of other co-infections with the Babesia species. Hence, this study aimed to identify the protozoan parasites infecting police dogs of different breeds, ages, and both sexes in Egypt. Concerning molecular detection of Babesia vogeli using conventional polymerase chain reaction sequencing and phylogenetic analysis, followed by the assessment of immunological and biochemical status of infected dogs. Materials and Methods: The blood of 242 police K9 dogs was collected. The age, breed, sex, and health status with clinical signs of dogs were recorded. Hematological, biochemical, and oxidative stress analyses of the blood were performed together with gene expression analysis using two genes (gamma interferon [IFN-γ] and tumor necrosis factor-alpha [TNF- α]). The identification of the causative agent was performed using molecular analysis of the 18S ribosomal RNA (rRNA). The 18S rRNA region of canine Babesia spp. was successfully amplified, and sequencing data were deposited in GenBank (accession number: MT565474.1), which resembled those of B. vogeli. Results: The results of blood samples screening revealed that of the 242 blood samples, 62 were positive for B. vogeli infection. The infection rate in male dogs was higher than that in female dogs. The police dogs were classified into the following three groups of dogs: (1st group) healthy, (2nd infected with B. vogeli, and mixed infection of B. vogeli and Ehrlichia canis). The oxidative stress biomarkers levels in B. vogeli infected dogs were greater than that of healthy dogs. Likewise, IFN-γ and TNF-α level in B. vogeli infected dogs were elevated in infected dogs. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that B. vogeli had completely adverse effects on the health condition of the police dogs that may lead to death in some dogs.

Background: LGR5 is one of the most important stem cell markers for colorectal cancer (CRC), as it potentiates Wnt/Β-catenin signaling. The well-characterized deregulation of Wnt/Β-catenin signaling that occurs during adenoma/carcinoma sequence in CRC renders LGR5 a hopeful therapeutic target. We assessed the immunohistochemical expression of LGR5 and Β-catenin in normal colonic and tumorous lesions with a clinicopathological correlation. Methods: Tissue blocks and clinical data of 50 selected cases were included: 8 from normal mucosa, 12 cases of adenoma, and 30 cases of CRC, where sections were cut and re-examined and the immunohistochemical technique was conducted using anti-LGR5 and anti-Β-catenin to measure the staining density. Results: There was no expression of LGR5 in normal mucosa compared to samples of adenoma and CRC samples. The association analysis showed that CRC specimens were more likely to have strong LGR5 and Β-catenin expressions than the other two groups (p = 0.048 and p < 0.001, respectively). Specimens with high-grade dysplastic adenoma were more likely to express moderate-to-strong expression of LGR5 and Β-catenin (p = 0.013 and p = 0.036, respectively). In contrast, there were no statistically significant associations between LGR5 and Β-catenin expression with grade and stage. Conclusion: These results suggest and support the possible role of LGR5 as a potential marker of cancer stem cells in sporadic colorectal carcinogenesis in addition to a prognostic value for LGR5 and Β-catenin in adenomatous lesions according to immunohistochemical expression density. A potential therapeutic role of LGR5 in CRC is suggested for future studies based on its role in pathogenesis.

The gold mineralization located in the southern Eastern Desert of Egypt mostly occurs in characteristic geologic and structural settings. The gold-bearing quartz veins and the alteration zones are confined to the ductile shear zones between the highly deformed ophiolitic blocks, sheared metavolcanics, and gabbro-diorite rocks. The present study attempts to integrate multisensor remotely sensed data, structural analysis, and field investigation in unraveling the geologic and structural controls of gold mineralization in the Gabal Gerf area. Multispectral optical sensors of Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS (L8) and Sentinel-2B (S2B) were processed to map the lithologic rock units in the study area. Image processing algorithms including false color composite (FCC), band ratio (BR), principal component analysis (PCA), minimum noise fraction (MNF), and Maximum Likelihood Classifier (MLC) were effective in producing a comprehensive geologic map of the area. The mafic index (MI) = (B13-0.9147) × (B10-1.4366) of ASTER (A) thermal bands and a combined band ratio of S2B and ASTER of (S2B3+A9)/(S2B12+A8) were dramatically successful in discriminating the ophiolitic assemblage, that are considered the favorable lithology for the gold mineralization. Three alteration zones of argillic, phyllic and propylitic were spatially recognized using the mineral indices and constrained energy minimization (CEM) approach to ASTER data. The datasets of ALSO PALSAR and Sentinel-1B were subjected to PCA and filtering to extract the lineaments and their spatial densities in the area. Furthermore, the structural analysis revealed that the area has been subjected to three main phases of deformation; (i) NE-SW convergence and sinistral transpression (D2); (ii) ~E-W far field compressional regime (D3), and (iii) extensional tectonics and terrane exhumation (D4). The gold-bearing quartz veins in several occurrences are controlled by D2 and D3 shear zones that cut heterogeneously deformed serpentinites, sheared metavolcanic rocks and gabbro-diorite intrusions. The information extracted from remotely sensed data, structural interpretation and fieldwork were used to produce a gold mineralization potential zones map which was verified by reference and field observations. The present study demonstrates the remote sensing capabilities for the identification of alteration zones and structural controls of the gold mineralization in highly deformed ophiolitic regions.

The combination of high-density, high-time-resolution inorganic scintillation crystals such as Lutetium Yttrium Oxyorthosilicate (LYSO), Yttrium Orthosilicate (YSO) and Bismuth Germanate (BGO) with Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) sensors is widely employed in medical imaging, particularly in Positron Emission Tomography (PET), as well as in modern particle physics detectors for precisely timing sub-detectors and calorimeters. During the assembly of each module, following individual component testing, the crystals and SiPMs are bonded together using optical glue and enclosed in a light-tight, temperature-controlled cooling box. After integration with the readout electronics, the bonding is initially tested. The final readout electronics typically comprise Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) or low-power Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) and amplifiers, designed not to heat up the temperature-sensitive SiPM sensors. However, these setups are not optimal for testing the optical bonding. Specific setups were developed to test the LYSO + SiPM modules that are already bonded but not enclosed in a box. Through large data collection, small deviations in bonding can be detected if the SiPMs and LYSOs have been thoroughly tested before our measurement. The Monte Carlo simulations we used to study how parameters—which are difficult to measure in the laboratory (LYSO absorption length, refractive index of the coating)—affect the final result. Abstract Background Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neuropsychological disorders that affects children, adolescents, and adults. Dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) has been implicated in its pathophysiology. So, this study aimed to compare the salivary cortisol level between ADHD children and healthy children. It also compared the salivary cortisol level of ADHD children before treatment and 1 month after treatment with methylphenidate. Results This study showed that there was a statistically significant decrease in salivary cortisol level of the ADHD group, specifically hyperactive/impulsive subtype compared to the control group. Furthermore, it showed a statistically significant increase of salivary cortisol level after treatment compared to before treatment in the ADHD group. Conclusions HPA axis dysfunction may be related to the pathophysiology of ADHD, specifically hyperactive/impulsive subtype. Methylphenidate positively affects the HPA axis of ADHD children.

Strengthening of existing isolated footings using concrete jacketing is a traditional method to increase the load-carrying capacity and to enhance the performance of isolated footings. This paper presents a parametric study and a numerical validation for full-scale square footings strengthened with concrete jacketing, using either dowels and bonding agent or bonding agent only, to connect the existing and new concrete surfaces. A nonlinear finite element program “ABAQUS” was used for the numerical validation and the parametric investigation for various parameter's effect on the load-carrying capacity and contact stress redistribution underneath the strengthened footings. The parameters used in the parametric analysis include the ratio of the concrete jacket depth to the concrete footing depth, concrete compressive strength, spacing between dowels, and the ratio of the concrete jacket width to the concrete footing width. The effect of dowels on load carrying capacity of footings strengthened using a full concrete jacket is insignificant for jacket width smaller than the footing width. In footing strengthened using a full concrete jacket, the load carrying capacity increases by 9% compared to the non-strengthened footing.

50. Biogenic Silver Nanoparticles Synthesis from New Record Aquatic Bacteria of Nile Tilapia and Evaluation of their Biological Activity

The current study investigates the isolation identification of bioactive strain from fish collected from El-Burrllus region in Egypt. The objective of the current study is to identify and assess the biological profile of a new record strain in Egypt Bacillus maritimus. The molecular identification of the selected promising isolate and phylogenetic analysis confirmed the accurate identity of the isolate as Bacillus maritimus. The novelty of the present study was not due to only to the fact that the Bacillus maritimus isolate was the first record from brackish-water Egyptian fish gut, but also due to the fact that there is no previous study on the bioactivity of Bacillus maritimus and their efficiency as biogenic nanoparticles synthesis. The bioactivities for the Bacillus maritimus were investigated through different biochemical assays as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity against six of the tested human pathogens namely; Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Escherichia coli ATCC 8739, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15442, Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 13883 and Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC 19615. Bacillus maritimus bacteria were grown in nutrient broth for 24 h at 37°C and the optical density was determined at 600 nm using the UV-visible spectrophotometer. The optical density (OD) of the broth was adjusted to 0.5 with sterile phosphate-buffered saline, pH 7.4 (PBS). the bacterial isolate showed antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. In addition the bacteria showed great reducing agent ability as a biogenic agent for the silver nanoparticles. The phytochemical screening of the Bacillus maritimus isolates have showed varieties of bioactive groups in addition to total phenolic compounds, flavonoids, tannic acid, carbohydrates, sulfated polysaccharides, total proteins and lipids. This study highlighted also that the Bacillus maritimus isolate could also produce novel secondary metabolites. The current study report for the first time the Bacillus maritimus in Egypt. Further studies are needed to isolate and characterize more bioactive strains from Egyptian Fishes that could possibly act as novel bioactive compounds source of medical and agricultures importance.
