In his 2009 review of New World Atteva Walker, Becker lists five species of Attevinae (= Attevidae), from Jamaica: Atteva pustulella (Fabricius), A. aurea (Fitch), A. siderea (Walsingham), A. sidereoides Becker, and A. fulviguttata (Zeller). There has been no recent collection of A. pustulella and A. siderea and their presence on the island needs reconfirming. Atteva fulvigutta has also not been found, but a similar species which is present is now recognized as A. glaucopidella Guenée, 1879, status revalidated, this name formerly being treated as synonymous with A. fulvigutta (Becker, 2009). Simple Summary: Moths of the genus Urodeta Stainton were studied, which are very small in comparison to many species of the subfamily Elachistinae Bruand (family Elachistidae Bruand). Urodeta is currently the smallest genus and, until 2009, was known only from the Mediterranean region. Over the past 17 years, its geographical range expanded considerably, reaching Australia, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia. Here, we describe Urodeta inerme sp. nov. from the tropical dry forests of Honduras, representing the first record of Urodeta in Central America. This discovery not only enhances the Elachistinae diversity in the Neotropics but also largely extends the distribution range of Urodeta. The genus Urodeta Stainton (Lepidoptera: Elachistidae: Elachistinae) is recorded for the first time from the Neotropical region, with the description of a new species, Urodeta inerme sp. nov., from Honduras. The new species is diagnosed and illustrated with photographs of the adults, genitalia of both sexes, and habitat. Caloptilia roscipennella (Hübner, 1796) is a leaf‐mining moth native to Central and Southern Europe. In this publication, we provide the first report of the occurrence of Caloptilia roscipennella in India. The identification was performed using an integrative approach, combining molecular (barcoding, COI) and morphological analysis (forewing pattern). In 2020, the larvae were initially found scraping in the silvery‐white mine and later feeding in folded or rolled leaves of the common walnut Juglans regia L. In the subsequent years, the species was found only in the same places. Two generations were recorded per year (May–June and August–September) and leaf miners overwintered as adults and reappeared in the early spring. Damage ranging from 15% to 20% was observed on the leaves of J. regia. Further efforts related to C. roscipennella should concentrate on evaluating its geographic distribution and its impact on walnut trees. Several species of parasitoids were reared from infested mines, with specimens belonging to the genus Chrysocharis Förster, 1856 (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) and Itoplectis maculator (Fabricius, 1775) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae). These species provided excellent control of leaf miner larvae, and out of 10 larvae, seven were found parasitized by the parasitoids and higher numbers of specimens were found with relative higher frequencies. Some micromoths were collected in the subalpine zones of Mt. Nokogiri-dake (alt. about 2,560 m) and Mt. Kai-Komaga-take (alt. about 2,580 m) in the northern Akaishi Mountains, Yamanashi Pref., Japan, in July. Sixteen species of six moth families were recognized: Adelidae: Nemophora ochsenheimerella, Incurvariidae: Phylloporia bistrigella, Roeslerstammiidae: Roeslerstammia erxlebella, Yponomeutidae: Argyresthia conjugella, Gelechiidae: Chionodes sp. nr. soella, Tortricidae: Lozotaenia kumatai, Clepsis jinboi, Acleris comariana, Acleris sp., Apotomis vigens, Epinotia piceae, Epinotia pinicola, Rhopobota ilexi, Fibuloides aestuosa, Matsumuraeses sp., Grapholita tenebrosana. This study confirms Mount Cameroon as an unprecedented hotspot for the diversity of many-plumed moths, with the discovery and description of nine new species: Alucita fako Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita pyrczi Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita sroczki Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita potockyi Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita sedlaceki Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita tonda Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita erzayi Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita sokolovi Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., and Alucita hirsuta Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov. Additionally, four additional species are reported from the Mount Cameroon area as new for the country: Alucita agassizi, Alucita dohertyi, Alucita plumigera, and Alucita rhaptica. Of the 89 Alucitidae known from the Afrotropics, the studied area hosts 36 species, most of which are endemic to the area. This unprecedented level of diversity and endemism within this lepidopteran family highlights Mount Cameroon's significance as a stronghold for specialised insect taxa. The present study is aimed to report on Zimmermannia as new to Korean insect fauna including three species: Z. admiranda (Puplesis, 1984), Z. amani (Svensson, 1966), and Z. sivickisi (Puplesis, 1984). The redescription and images of adult and genitalia for each species are provided with an identification key to the Korean Zimmermannia. DNA barcode of each species is uploaded to the NCBI.

Seven species are newly recorded for China: L. alpestra Park, 2005, L. alpina Park, 2016, L. chersitis Meyrick, 1918, L. haviensis Park, 2016, L. neosticta Meyrick, 1918, L. orbiculata Park, 2010 and L. rubigona Park, 2006. The females of four species are described for the first time: L. alpina, L. haviensis, L. neosticta and L. orbiculata. Six new combinations are proposed: Lecithocera platomona (Wu, 1997) comb. nov. and L. stimulata (Wu, 1994) comb. nov. transferred from the genus Quassitagma; L. frisilina (Gozmány, 1978) comb. nov. transferred from the genus Recontracta; L. baliocata (Wu, 1994) comb. nov., L. sarmenta (Wu, 1994) comb. nov. and L. stictata (Wu, 1994) comb. nov. transferred from the genus Galoxestis. Images of adults and genitalia for all treated species are given, along with a checklist of all Chinese species of Lecithocera.

Despite being the second largest group of vascular plants, ferns are scarcely reported being fed by insects when compared to angiosperms. Within these fern-feeding insects, lepidopterans are poorly represented and are restricted only to specific groups in this speciose order. The consumers specialising on fern spores are even scarcer in the order, with the majority being consumers of vegetative structures. Amongst the fern-spore-feeding Lepidoptera, Stathmopodidae is the family with the highest species diversity, even with a subfamily, Cyprininae Sinev, 2015, specialising on fern spores. However, fern-spore-feeding habit is not restricted to this subfamily. To understand the evolution of fern-spore-feeding within this family and to increase our knowledge of insect-fern evolution, detailed studies on fern-spore feeding stathmopodids are essential.The present study rediscovered a rare, fern-spore-feeding, stathmopodid micro-moth, Stathmopoda tacita (Meyrick, 1913), which has not been formally recorded or identified for more than 100 years. We documented the life history of this species and identified several species of Pyrrosia (Polypodiaceae, Platycerioideae) as host for the moth’s larvae. A re-description of the fern-feeding moth is also provided as the original description is obscure in terms of character diagnosis.

A list of 143 species of Microlepidoptera from 27 families is provided, compiled based on the results of processing materials collected in 2021−2022; all species are recorded for the first time for the territory of South Ossetia.

The list of 19 species of Pyraloid moths new to the fauna of Omsk Region is given. 13 of them are new to the West Siberia and 5 are recorded from the Asian part of Russia for the first time, namely, Insalebria serraticornella (Zeller, 1839), Pseudophycita deformella (Möschler, 1866), Epischnia prodromella (Hübner, 1799), Ratasa alienalis (Eversmann, 1844), Pyrausta rectefascialis Toll, 1936. Klimeschia transversella (Zeller, 1839) is reported for the first time from Bulgaria. The species was found on Thymus plants in Vinarovo Village, Vidin Province, Northwestern Bulgaria. Moths and female genitalia are illustrated.

Simple Summary: We studied small, dully coloured grass-miner moths (Elachistidae, Elachistinae). This is a large subfamily widely distributed throughout the world, but only a few species are known in the Neotropics. To facilitate further exploration, we reviewed one of nineteen species group within the largest genus, Elachista, along with identification keys of species. The E. praelineata species group now comprises of 37 described species, which are distributed in the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Neotropical species of the group are still underexplored, especially compared with that of Palearctic and Nearctic regions. So far only five species are known to belong to this group, mainly from the Ecuadorian Andes. In this study, we aimed to review and update information on the E. praelineata species group in the Neotropics. Here, we describe in detail a new species Elachista stonisi sp. nov. from western Bolivia. The female of E. albisquamella Zeller, 1877 is described for the first time and the female of E. lata Sruoga, 2010 is associated with the male. The description of new species and the association of females with males are supported morphologically and are confirmed by analysis of partial sequences of mitochondrial COI. Neotropical species of the Elachista praelineata species group are reviewed. Five species are recognized in the Neotropics. A new species, Elachista stonisi sp. nov., and female of E. albisquamella Zeller, 1877 are described and illustrated with photographs of the adults, some of the immature stages, female genitalia, and leaf mines. The female of E. lata Sruoga, 2010 is associated with the male based on morphology and the comparison of partial mitochondrial COI sequences. Three voucher specimens of Coleophora millefolii Zeller, 1849 (Lepidoptera: Coleophoridae) from Hungary are deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. All of them were collected more than 70 years ago, in 1952, by László Gozmány on Hársbokor hill near Budakeszi (Pest County). We report eleven additional, more recent localities of this species in Hungary. Adelidae fauna of South Italy is poorly known. For example, the knowledge concerning this family in the Calabria region is very poor being the most recent record 107 years old. In this paper we reported original faunistic data for the Calabria region concerning eight species most of which new for the regional fauna and Nematopogon robertella (Clerck, 1759) new for the fauna of peninsular Italy. To the light of faunistic and taxonomic advances of recent years, the Italian checklist of this family was updated because of the discovery of taxa new to the science and new records that significantly modified the Italian range of some species. According to these recent additions, the Italian fauna of Adelidae is now composed by 34 species, but we found that some populations of South Italy deserve deep studies to ascertain their taxonomic status. Invasive insects can cause catastrophic damage to ecosystems and cost billions of dollars each year due to management expenses and lost revenue. Rapid detection is an important step to prevent invasive insects from spreading, but improvements in detection capabilities are needed for bulk collections like those from sticky traps. Here we present a bulk DNA extraction method designed for the detection of Phthorimaea absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), an invasive moth that can decimate tomato crops. We test the extraction method for insect specimens on sticky traps, subjected to different temperature and humidity conditions, and among mock insect communities left in the field for up to 21 d. We find that the extraction method yielded high success (>92%) in recovering target DNA across field and lab trials, without a decline in recovery after three weeks, across all treatments. These results may have a large impact on tomato growing regions where P. absoluta is in the early stages of invasion or not yet present. The extraction method can also be used to improve detection capabilities for other bulk insect collections, especially those using sticky traps, to the benefit of pest surveys and biodiversity studies. Sobre la base del estudio de caracteres morfológicos de la cabeza, alas y de las estructuras genitales del macho y de la hembra, se describe un nuevo género de Oecophoridae de Chile, Lleuquenia gen. nov., incrementando a 41 los géneros de esta familia presentes en el país. Se describe la única especie del género, Lleuquenia sandovali sp. nov. la que procede de bosques subantárticos con predominancia de Nothofagus en la zona central del país. La nueva especie puede ser reconocida por el patrón de coloración de las alas y las estructuras genitales del macho y de la hembra. Se señalan caracteres diagnósticos para el género y la especie descrita, se realiza una comparación morfológica con otros géneros de Oecophoridae chilenos y se ilustra el adulto y las estructuras genitales del macho y la hembra.

More than ten years have passed since the first publication dealing with the moths and butterflies of the Naszály Hill. It is common knowledge that a faunistic survey cannot be closed, because from time to time new species appear in the area of research. Meanwhile 51 new micro-moth and 75 new macro-moth and butterfly species have been recorded from the area, which adds up to a total of 1473 Lepidoptera species (727 micro-moths and 746 macro-moths and butterflies). This work is in the frontline of Hungarian fauna research due to the high number of the detected species. The list has been expanded with 16 species protected by national law, as follows: Hemaris tityus, Aglia tau, Boloria euphrosyne, Euphydryas maturna, Neptis sappho, Nymphalis xanthomelas, Archiearis notha, Archiearis parthenias, Drymonia velitaris, Ocnogyna parasita, Cucullia chamomillae, Diachrysia zosimi, Euchalcia variabilis, Euxoa vitta, Rileyiana fovea, Scotochrosta pulla. The present study was conducted at Gangajalghat, a village near the forest of Bankura district from West Bengal that has a tropical wet and dry climate where moth diversity has not been explored before. The village was surveyed between January 2016 and December 2018. The present study has recorded a total of 1,328 individual moths belonging to 13 families, 31 subfamilies, 80 genera, and 90 species. Of which four species viz. Condylorrhiza diniasalis (Walker, 1859), Argyrocosma inductaria (Guenée, 1858), Oraesia emarginata (Fabricius, 1794) and Eublemma roseonivea (Walker, 1863) have been reported for the first time from West Bengal, India. The microlepidoptera Bedellia somnulentella is a pest insect of Ipomoea batatas leaves, with the first report in South America, in the city of Diamantina, Minas Gerais state, Brazil, in 2018. The mining caterpillars of B. somnulentella cause damage to the leaf mesophyll of the host plant, Ipomoea batatas, an important crop which contributes to overcoming world food insecurity with high nutritional value. The objective of this work is to register the occurrence of B. somnulentella in I. batatas in the cities of Lavras and Salinas, located, respectively, in the southern and northern regions of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The individuals of B. somnulentella were observed in field areas of the Universidade Federal de Lavras (21° 14′ S, 44° 58′ W, at an elevation of 919 masl) in Lavras and at the Instituto Federal do Norte de Minas Gerais (15° 27′ S, 44° 22′ W, at an elevation of 474 masl) in the city of Salinas. in production sites of the northeastern region These records increase the knowledge concerning the geographic distribution of this pest in the country and indicate the importance of developing strategic studies for pest contingency plans and integrated pest management (IPM). A partir de adultos recolectados directamente y de la crianza de larvas obtenidas en brotes de Podocarpus spp. (Podocarpaceae), se describe a Magniophaga nuevo género de Depressariidae del centro-sur de Chile. Este género incluye a Magniophaga variabilis sp. nov., cuyas larvas se alimentan de los brotes nuevos de “mañío de hojas largas” (Podocarpus salignus D. Don) y de “mañío de hojas punzantes” (Podocarpus nubigenus Lindley). Se presentan caracteres diagnósticos del nuevo género y especie, se ilustra el adulto, abdomen, las estructuras genitales del macho y de la hembra y se proporcionan antecedentes biológicos de la especie. Con este descubrimiento se incrementa a 14 géneros y 33 especies de Depressariidae presentes en Chile.

A partir de ejemplares adultos recolectados en el sur de Chile, se describe a Doina arriagadai sp. nov. Se presentan caracteres diagnósticos y se ilustra el adulto, abdomen y genitalia de la especie.

Coleophora absinthii Wocke, 1877 is represented in the Hungarian Natural History Museum by only one voucher specimen from Hungary. The species was collected for the first time in 1952 from Hungary but, in spite of several publications reporting it as a frequent species, no specimen of C. absinthii has been deposited in the museum since its first record. We found the species between 2018 and 2020 in six new Hungarian localities. The tubular case, the case made of flowers, the adult, the genitalia and the distribution map of the species are presented. The diversity and community composition of moths (both macro- and micromoths) at 32 sites, representing a wide range of habitat types (forests, grasslands, wetlands, agricultural and urban areas) within a restricted region in central Scania, southern-most Sweden, was investigated by use of light moth traps and compared with vascular plant species richness and habitat characteristics. The results revealed a highly significant general association between vegetation composition and the composition of the moth community and multivariate (CCA) analyses indicated light availability and soil fertility parameters (pH and macronutrients) to be the habitat characteristics that best correlated with moth community composition. Less strong, but still significant, positive relationships between moth abundance and local vascular plant diversity were also revealed. Moth species richness was positively correlated with diversity of woody plant genera in the neighborhood, but not with local vascular plant diversity in general. As for more general site characteristics, there were tendencies for higher moth richness and abundance at sites with more productive soils (well-drained, high pH, high nutrient availability), while shading/tree canopy cover, management, soil disturbance regimes and nectar production appeared unrelated to moth community parameters. It is concluded that local moth assemblages are strongly influenced by site characteristics and vegetation composition. Implications for insect conservation: The results show that obtaining moth data on a local scale is useful for conservation planning and does not need to be very cumbersome. Mount Cameroon, SW Cameroon, has already been described as a unique hotspot of the many-plumed moth (Lepidoptera, Alucitidae), with their local diversity unrivalled in the entire Afrotropics. We confirm its importance with description of seven new species: Alucita bakweri Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita jana Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita bakingili Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita tatjana Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita zuza Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., Alucita deja Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov., and Alucita bokwango Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich, sp. nov. These descriptions have raised the known local diversity of many-plumed moth species on Mount Cameroon to 22, i.e., over a quarter of the known Afrotropical biodiversity of this group. Twenty-eight rare and poorly known lepidopteran species from eleven families are recorded from different regions of Ukraine. Eight species are recorded for the first time: Bucculatrix pannonica Deschka, 1982 (Bucculatricidae); Biselachista serricornis (Stainton, 1854) (Elachistidae); Aplota nigricans (Zeller, 1852) (Oecophoridae); Caulastrocecis pudicella (Mann, 1861), Scrobipalpa soffneri Povolný, 1964, Syncopacma polychromella (Rebel, 1902) (Gelechiidae); Phycita torrenti Agenjo, 1962 (Pyralidae) and Hodebertia testalis (Fabricius, 1794) (Crambidae). The hitherto unknown female of Filatima djakovica Anikin & Piskunov, 1996, femina nova (Gelechiidae) is described based on material from the Kiev region. Caloptilia jailensis sp. n. (Gracillariidae) is described from the mountains of Crimea.

We provide geographical, spatial and temporal data to the faunistical knowledge of the 123 Microlepidoptera species recorded in the region Sălaj. This is the result of 201 data of 24 collecting events assembled in the period between 25. April, 2014 and 10. September, 2015. The species represent the following families (with species numbers): Alucitidae (2), Autostichidae (1), Coleophoridae (7), Cosmopterigidae (1), Cossidae (1), Depressariidae (2), Epermeniidae (1), Ethmiidae (2), Gelechiidae (5), Gracillariidae (1), Hepialidae (1), Limacodidae (1), Lypusidae (1), Oecophoridae (2), Plutellidae (1), Psychidae (2), Pterophoridae (4), Pyralidae (38), Sesiidae (1), Tineidae (5), Tortricidae (39), Yponomeutidae (1), Ypsolophidae (2), Zygaenidae (2), amongst them 33 species are recorded as new for the region Sălaj.

Results of nocturnal moth collecting by the authors in the Balkans during May/June 2018 are reported. A total of 571 species was encountered, mostly Noctuoidea (270), Geometroidea (161) and Pyraloidea (62). The majority of data are from North Macedonia and Albania; the remainder are from countries traversed to reach these target areas, namely Slovenia, Austria and Serbia. Sixteen species are new for Albania; 41 are reported only for the second time in that country. A further three are reported new for Serbia plus four more for the second time only. The present paper adds two new species to the genus Gargela Walker, 1864 from China: Gargela polyacantha Li, sp. nov. and G. grandispinata Li, sp. nov. The adults and genital structures of the new species are described, with images of the habitus and illustrations of the genitalia.
