The purpose of my research is to examine how copreneurial couples make sense of their lived experience of working in a copreneurial business and shape their mutual identity. The research context is copreneurs operating micro-businesses in the Greek leisure and tourism industry. Given the size of the tourism industry worldwide and the fact that many businesses within this sector are family-owned, this is an important area of inquiry. The aim is twofold: 1. To build theory in the field of entrepreneurship by focusing specifically on the undertheorized topic of how copreneurs understand and shape their identity and responsibilities within copreneurial businesses 2. To bring an under-utilized methodology to entrepreneurship studies, that of interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA), as a means of enhancing the understanding of the lived experience of copreneurs. Drawing on phenomenological philosophy, IPA foregrounds the meanings research participants give to their experience and therefore offers rich interpretations from copreneurial couples While taking an idiographic approach, which focuses on the first-person experience of copreneurs in a particular context, the findings will resonate with other copreneurs. The contribution of this research therefore lies in advancing our understanding of copreneurship and familial entrepreneurship by elucidating the interrelationship between personal and business partnerships. The study makes visible the often invisible recursive links between paid work and family life for men and women.

The paper investigates the resilience of micro-businesses (MBs) to natural disasters by exploring the impact of two levels of resilience, namely organizational resilience and entrepreneur psychological resilience, on perceived post-disaster business performance (PPDBP). As MBs tend to be entrepreneur-centric, entrepreneur psychological resilience (EPR) can play an important role, interconnected with that of organizational resilience (OR). However, in the extant literature the debate is still open on how OR and EPR relate. We verified a structural model with the aid of Upper Echelons and Imprinting theories, applying a covariance-based technique on data collected through a survey administered to a sample of 213 MBs hit by the 2012 Earthquake in Emilia (Italy). Results revealed that perceived post-disaster business performance is driven by entrepreneur psychological resilience with a mediating role for organizational resilience, in three main areas: robustness, agility and integrity. The study contributes to the literature on resilience and MBs by providing empirical evidence and practical implications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AGRITOURISM , *SOCIAL exchange , *COVID-19 pandemic , *DATA analysis , *STRUCTURAL equation modeling - Abstract
The global spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a devastating impact on thousands of small businesses. Many businesspeople, especially those who own and run micro-businesses, have been hampered by the unprecedented scale of the lockdown of social activities and the restrictions placed on their freedom of movement. The reciprocity process between small rural businesses and residents is ultimately in the interest of improving agrotourism performance. Integrating the non-zero-sum games theory and the social exchange theory, this study aims to achieve the following: (1) testing the relationship between family micro-businesses resources and agritourism performance; (2) examining the impact of two mediating variables (resident–micro-business interaction and support for agritourism development); and (3) testing the intervention of one moderating variable (personal resident benefit) on the tested relationships. Dyads data was collected from 293 residents/family small businesses operators. Partial least squares-based structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) with the SmartPLS program was employed to analyze the collected data. Family micro-business resources were found to have a positive and significant impact on agritourism performance, moreover, resident–micro-business interaction and support for agritourism development were found to partially mediate the relationship between family micro-business resources and agritourism performance, and the personal resident benefit significantly moderated the relationship between family micro-business resources and resident–micro-business interaction. Several implications for academics and policymakers were elaborated. The limitations and further study opportunities were also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic that struck unexpectedly has reinforced the need for proper cash flow management by micro-businesses. It may be complicated for the business sector to differentiate between business and personal finances if there is no discipline or consistency in financial management. Therefore, this study examines the practice of cash flow management by micro-traders in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, before 2020 and examines how their lives were affected during the freeze on economic activity. A quantitative research design was adopted, and the participants for the study were selected using the convenience sampling technique. A survey was conducted in November 2021, and 141 pieces of clean data were obtained. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software (SPSS) was used to generate descriptive statistics for data analysis. This study determined that micro-traders did not exhibit proper cash flow management, placing them in a critical financial situation when the pandemic crisis was prolonged. The movement control order and the extended COVID-19 pandemic that caused the economic downturn negatively impacted the cash flow of micro-traders and negatively affected their incomes and livelihoods. - Abstract
Background In the realm of contemporary marketing the implementation of AI Chatbots has emerged as a pivotal subject shaping brand perception and satisfaction in micro-businesses. As businesses increasingly integrate artificial intelligence into their customer service operations, understanding the implications of AI chatbot implementation on brand perception and satisfaction in micro-businesses becomes paramount. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to gain a further understanding of how AI Chatbots affects brand perception and satisfaction in micro-businesses. The answer to this research question will not only contribute to resolving the identified gap but also offer actionable insights and recommendations for micro-business owners and managers. Method A qualitative research approach has been selected. The approach entails employing AI Chatbots in three different micro-businesses and conducting interviews with three potential clients of each micro-business. Conclusion The study demonstrates that AI Chatbots significantly influence brand perception and brand satisfaction in micro-businesses, enhancing the brand image by presenting a modern and friendly persona. However, their impact on brand satisfaction varies across different types of businesses; low-effort businesses see noticeable improvements while high-effort ones, like plastic surgery services, do not experience substantial gains due to already high expectations.

Social media applications have revolutionized doing business and attracted the attention of practitioners, scholars, and policymakers. Social media applications offer business owners plenty of benefits as it enables businesses to get exposed, gain competitive advantage, and communicate with customers. However, limited studies have considered measuring the adoption of social media marketing by micro-businesses, such as home-based businesses (HBBs). This research examines social media adoption by home-based companies in Saudi Arabia using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A self-administered online questionnaire is utilized to collect data. A total of 188 home-based business owners completed the questionnaires. Structural equation modeling using SPSS, Amos is utilized for data analysis. The findings show that perceived usefulness and social influence positively impact the Intention to use social media marketing. Ease of use positively influences perceived usefulness. Further, the Intention to use has a subsequent impact on user behavior. The study has implications for policy, decision-makers, and the General authority of SMEs (Monsha’at) in Saudi Arabia. The research results show that social influence is a significant positive predictor of social media marketing usage. Besides, the Intention to use social media marketing has a statistically positive impact on user behavior. The study validates the TAM model in a rarely studied context due to its invisible nature. The authors also describe a profile of HBBs owners in Saudi Arabia by explaining their demographic and behavioral characteristics regarding owners’ gender, age and education, and prior experience. This paper contributes original empirical evidence on the adoption of social media marketing by the HBBs in Saudi Arabia. Given the lack of previous studies on this micro-business sector in general and Saudi Arabia, these findings are essential. The present study demonstrates several managerial implications. First of all, policymakers should consider this microbusiness sector when developing policies and strategies to provide support and support. The government should establish an electronic platform that connects all business owners. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Without a doubt, the impacts and consequences of the coronavirus pandemic on our lives and our societies are global, severe, and durable. Assessing the magnitudes of those characteristics represents a huge challenge we are all facing, especially having minded the fact that the pandemic is still active throughout the world. What are the solutions we can find to secure the businesses, maintain the jobs, and stabilize financial markets and economies, becomes one of the fundamental questions of today. In this regard, the paper aims to tackle, detect, and highlight the multidimensional impacts of the coronavirus-induced economic recession on the micro-businesses located in the Old bazaar in Prilep, one of the most prominent trade centers in North Macedonia. The findings are based on the results coming out from a descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of the data obtained by a survey, carried out on a representative sample of businesses. They suggest that majority of microbusinesses are severely hit by the pandemic regarding their overall economic well-being; the Government measures are barely enough for them to survive in the short run. - Abstract
This study investigated the role of financial literacy on the financial sustainability of micro-businesses at the Bokamoso Entrepreneurial Centre in Namibia. Data was collected from 18 micro-business owners operational in the Centre. The study employed a qualitative method using an interview guide to conduct face-to-face interviews. Results show that 89 percent of micro-business owners are financially illiterate and this affects the financial sustainability of micro-businesses. Furthermore, the study revealed that all micro-businesses in the centre do not have access to funds in the formal financial market. This may be caused by micro-business owners’ low level of financial literacy that reduces their confidence to participate in the formal financial market and this influences their financial decision-making. It was also revealed that politics, high collateral and lack of information are some of the major factors that prevent micro-businesses from accessing funds. The study also revealed that 78 percent of micro-business owners have bad financial attitude. As a result, the study recommends for financial education to be introduced in schools from primary school level. There is also a need for major players in the financial market to conduct seminars to create awareness and make information available to the micro-business owners.

This paper suggests links between Postponement, Mass Customization and Rapid Fulfilment in the light of Merge-In-Transit Retailing (MiT). The paper discusses that the value offered by MiT implementations can only be exploited if these operational strategies are well-understood. An extension of this concept is explored to critically weight whether MiT is a feasible strategy in the context of Micro-Businesses (MBs). MBs are usually treated as if they were big corporations that mainly follow economic-based drivers. However, MBs’ owners operate according to additional motivations such as family-orientation, heritage, life style or prestige. So far limited work has been published on MiT and their operational supporting strategies in the context of MBs. The paper contributes in the deeper understanding the logistics under the Internet Retailing therefore his impact is promising. Its orientation towards MBs provides an original review to a sector that is usually neglected. Managers and people in charge in the design and operations of logistics systems supporting internet retailing can find this paper of interest as the four linked concepts have not been yet discussed together. The paper can be of particular interest for MBs’ owners.

There is now considerable empirical evidence demonstrating the innovation and performance benefits that accrue to firms engaging in open innovation (OI). Here, we use novel data on micro-businesses to show that the average level of engagement in OI falls well below the optimal level, a finding that reflects that of other empirical studies. We identify and examine three market failures which may help to explain this result. These relate to a lack of understanding of the potential benefits of OI by firms, a lack of information about the capabilities of potential partners and a lack of information about the trustworthiness of potential partners. Our findings provide evidence that policy initiatives designed to offset these information failures are likely to increase the range of partners with which firms engage with significant benefits for innovation. Given the situation of zero economic growth in the country, it is imperative to turn to new business ideas, marketing strategies and, above all, the expectations that micro-businesses have in the face of the current situation. Thus, in the municipality of Lerma, the micro-businesses that are mostly engaged in retail sales, are committed to identifying and meeting the needs of their population. Especially, in the municipal seat and neighboring towns, companies and consumers agree that it is a shared responsibility to get the economy afloat; thus contributing to local development and guiding sustainable development. One of the most notable changes in the consumption of Lermenses is the awareness of consumption in small businesses, buying food that is planted in the same municipality and even purchasing personal property that is made within the region. Contextualizing within local and sustainable development. That said, this work is a reflection of the ideas, strategies and expectations that companies, and consumers have in the same municipality where they seek a common goal of social and sustainable responsibility that safeguards the economic context of the region.

- Abstract
Micro-businesses are the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as they depend on their income from the general public and their sales are cash. They hardly sell to companies so they don't have a secure income. The main activities of micro-enterprises are related to food. There are two important impacts that arose and that affected sales significantly, after the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, the first of them in July 2020 and the second in the first month of the year 2021 (also called “waves”). Local governments formalized the predominant activities as essential and non-essential activities. The first were carried out under a security protocol and on a low scale, so they had to adjust their expenditures. Unemployment abounded significantly, where it has not yet fully recovered. The second of them flatly went bankrupt or made a change of activity in order to survive. On the part of the federal government they did not have permanent and important financial support. It was only a single amount of 25 thousand pesos, in some cases, complying with requirements such as the tax regime and that workers have remained in social security in the first two months of the year and keep them in force. The financial impact arose from the lack of liquidity, solvency and profitability. The information for the first half of 2020 is that more than a million establishments had closed throughout the country. It is not a lesser amount and if it is relevant. It is also shown in the decrease of micro-enterprises in the national taxpayer registry, specifically in the Tax Incorporation Regime. Where the highest point of registrations was until March 2020 and from there it has been gradually decreasing. Financial information will be affected. At the time the owners make decisions through financial statements and apply comparability. It will not be the same to compare the years 2019 with 2020 or the latter with 2021.

In Turkey, the existing legally mandatory GCASI / TPL approach is based on the basis of taxation. The essence of this approach is based on preventing tax evasion and subjecting all taxed businesses to common rules. However, this approach is not enough for businesses that want to report to a wide audience of users. Businesses that are subject to independent audit have been meeting these common language requirements since the past with IFRS applications. However, there was no general framework for newly established start-ups or small businesses, whose numbers are growing today, to adapt to this common language. The Public Oversight Authority (public oversight accounting and auditing standards authority) examined the European Union's guidelines to create this general framework, and as a result of these reviews, in 2019, the FRS for SMIs submitted its draft report to the public. FRS for SMIs is very important in terms of integrating small businesses with the world, directing foreign investors to our country and starting-up businesses to find investors and will start to be implemented starting from 2022. This study aims to be a resource that businesses that will report according to FRS for SMIs can benefit from, mainly addressing the difference between FRS for SMIs applications and MSUGT/ TPL applications. For this purpose, the theoretical infrastructure of FRS for SMIs was explained in detail, its differences with MSUGT \ TPL were explained; the differences between FRS for SMIs and GCASI/ TPL the approach were tried to be shown in practice; finally, these differences in the practice were compared with ratio analysis. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore the role of mobile technology and related service platforms in supporting informal micro-entrepreneurships in rural Ghana. It aims to extend our knowledge through the development of a conceptual model.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative research design used in-depth semi-structured interviews with five micro-entrepreneurship owners in the Kwahu South District in the Eastern region of Ghana. Identification of potential case firms was facilitated by a local official. Interview data were analysed thematically.FindingsMobile technology engendered pride and emotional connectedness and, being easy to use, helped to increase business confidence. Adoption advantages included improved communications with customers and business partners, and effective stock control, providing competitive advantage. Further understanding of mobile technology’s role in improving business processes is needed.Research limitations/implicationsThis exploratory research is based on five micro-entrepreneurships in one Ghanaian rural area. Further research is needed using larger samples, additional locations and sectors and larger businesses, to identify other factors influencing mobile technology adoption and associated benefits and problems.Practical implicationsGovernment policy supporting growth of informal micro-entrepreneurships using mobile phone technology could increase economic advantage. Micro-business owners need education and training in understanding business processes. Telecommunications companies can highlight technological, business and socio-cultural benefits of mobile phone adoption in rural Ghana.Originality/valueThe paper draws upon the experiences of a range of rural-based Ghanaian micro-entrepreneurships to propose a model setting out and linking the technical, business and socio-cultural benefits of mobile phone adoption in supporting business processes.

- Abstract
This study analyzes the incidence of the business fabric and of social and solidarity organizations in the economic development of the municipality of San Jacinto (Bolívar) from the post-conflict period. The source of information is the Mercantile Registry of the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce and is complemented by interviews with the legal representatives of the registered organizations. The results show the high presence of microenterprises (96%) within the business structure, which are not tied to a production chain that generates added value. Micro-enterprises also present problems such as lack of access to credit, low sales levels, insecurity, lack of training, and unfair competition. Other problems of lesser magnitude are related to the lack of supply, the absence of human resources and environmental management. Despite these problems, the total labor demand of companies and social and solidarity organizations in the municipality generated 367 jobs, of which 65.4% correspond to the former and 34.6% to the latter. It is evident in these productive units the need for greater accompaniment by the State to achieve a greater degree of maturation and influence local economic development., Este estudio analiza la incidencia del tejido empresarial y de organizaciones sociales y solidarias en el desarrollo económico del municipio de San Jacinto (Bolívar) a partir del postconflicto.

- Abstract
This research was guided by the question:Is there association or independence in the different variables of the micro-businesses in the departments of the Caribbean region? Therefore, the purpose was to review the association or independence that occurs in these businesses located in the Colombian Caribbean. The article worked with a positivist episteme, from aquantitative approach and a deductive paradigm, using hypothesis testingto corroborate or refute the assertions regarding the relationship of micro-businesses in this region. These businesses were found to have similar behaviors or their trends are identical, regardless of which of the eight departments the startup takes place in.Thus, there is an association in the variables analyzed in the research. The results indicate that there is cohesion in the region, originated by the behavior of the variables that are immersed within the entrepreneurship in the different departments located in the Caribbean region., La presente investigación fue guiada por la pregunta ¿existe independencia o asociación en las diferentes variables de losmicronegocios en los departamentos de la región Caribe?

- Abstract
This project trialled an innovative, scalable model of work-integrated learning (WIL) in micro-businesses in a coworking space. WIL embeds industry and/or community engagement into the curriculum through authentic learning and assessment activities. This project focused on workplace-based WIL, specifically, business students undertaking internships in a cluster of coworking spaces—under the umbrella of ‘Spacecubed’—in Perth CBD, Australia. The project aims were broadly 1) to trial and evaluate ways to enhance enterprise capabilities among business students through WIL and 2) to introduce a model of WIL that overcomes some of the barriers that have previously prevented smaller organisations from participating in WIL. Given rapidly changing work environments, due largely to evolving technology and globalisation, new graduates need to be agile, collaborative, digitally literate, able to transfer their skills across different contexts and connected. Micro-businesses offer a unique environment for learning these enterprise capabilities and the coworking space is a fertile learning ground for interns who are exposed to the development and use of emerging technologies and extensive opportunities to apply skills and build professional networks...

Part 5: Business Innovation and Data Privacy; International audience; This exploratory study examined how men and women who own micro businesses in Lagos, Nigeria, use mobile apps for business from Amartya Sen’s capability approach perspective and quantitative research methods. The two key findings suggest that women micro business owners make more use of mobile apps compared to men, and that they tend to exit micro businesses as they grow older indicating a possible influence of patriarchy in African contexts. Specifically, women seized opportunities presented by mobile apps to acquire capabilities to function; and they adapt mobile apps to enhance their wellbeing and freedom despite the restrictions and responsibilities in the patriarchal environments typical of low-income countries. The insignificant gender gap in certain mobile app usages presents new perspectives to debates on gender (economic) gaps, inequality, women empowerment, and technology uptake in low-income country contexts.

The article uses in-depth interviews with owners of small businesses in Mexico City, Mexico, to provide empirical and theoretical analysis of the reciprocal effects of families on their small businesses and the businesses on the family dynamic. The author seeks to determine the relationships that arise between family members as a result of their work activities together, as well as to verify whether those relationships can ensure continued production for the business while maintaining adequate consumption and supply for the family unit. The social and economic effects of sharing both domestic and professional space with family members are also discussed.

HOTELS ,SMALL business ,BUSINESSPEOPLE ,QUALITY of life - Abstract
The vast majority of firms in the sector are micro-businesses employing 10 or fewer staff. Indeed many are so small as to employ no permanent staff at all. Those running these businesses are not classical entrepreneurs driven by a need to maximise profits and build a business empire. Many are best described as lifestyle entrepreneurs, their key motives are more associated with improving their quality of life. This paper reports on the owners of a significant sample of Blackpool hotels. The majority have sold a domestic property to buy the hotel. Few have any prior hotel experience, or small business experience, for that matter. The linkage between commercial and domestic provision of meals and accommodation convinced many of these interviewees that they had the skill sets required for hotel ownership and management. The paper also confirms earlier findings that a subtantial minority withdraw from the hotel business in their first year. The lack of training in the business aspects of the hotel operation has serious implications for the quality of hotel operations in places like Blackpool, because a significant segment of hotel stock is being managed by these lifestyle entrepreneurs who are not primarily concerned with commercial objectives which prioritise service quality as a way of generating profits and growth. - Abstract
Based on a series of thoughts, heavily influenced by the sun and rum, this paper attempts to synthesise a number of disparate influences including micro-businesses in Barbados, marketing in rapid growth markets, mainstream texts, and creativity in marketing and in smaller firms. This journey is undertaken in order to seek inspiration for a theory of small firm marketing but questions are raised as to how far one all encompassing theory is either possible or desirable. This paper suggests links between postponement, mass customization and rapid fulfilment in the light of merge-in-transit retailing (MIT). The paper asserts that the value offered by MIT implementation can be exploited only if these operational strategies are well understood. An extension of this concept is explored to critically consider whether MIT is a feasible strategy in the context of micro-businesses (MBs). MBs are usually treated as if they were big corporations that mainly follow economic-based drivers. However, the owners of MBs operate based on additional motivations such as family orientation, heritage, lifestyle, and prestige. So far, limited work has been published on MIT and strategies for operational support in the context of MBs. This paper contributes to a deeper understanding of the logistics of internet retailing, making its impact promising. Its orientation towards MBs provides an original review of a sector that is often neglected. Managers and those in charge of the design and operations of logistics systems supporting internet retailing may find this paper of interest, since the four linked concepts have not previously been discussed together. The paper may be of particular interest to MB owners. In cities manifold actors are continuously taking decisions and proposing interventions, which are driven by, but also change, spatial conditions and their performance on a variety of scales. Understanding how this interplay works is crucial for urban designers and planners. However, this complexity asks for new methods of analysis or combinations of existing methods that better inform urban designers which is exactly what this paper is aiming at. The use of typologies to describe a complex reality has been both attractive to practice and an important research branch within urban morphology. This paper presents a configurational typology that is not simply representing the physical environment, but rather its affordances (Gibson,1979) where we use as example the conditions needed for various kinds of micro-businesses. It combines properties that describe the position of a specific urban block within the street network of a city, characteristics of the direct surrounding of a block as well as characteristics describing the plot configuration within a block. The spatial characteristics most often associated with the spatial organisation of activities were selected from literature. The statistical method of two-step-clustering was used to distinguish clusters and thereby the different types of configurations. The clustering was tested in an explorative process to understand which characteristics were relevant to distinguish the main urban configurations of the urban system. The results are presented for the city of Amsterdam. The same method can be applied to other phenomena such as co-presence as well as other cities and thereby allows understanding the variety of such types, but also the existence of generic types. In a next step this typology could be tested for applicability in practise., OLD Urban Compositions

Micro-businesses are the lifeblood of any functioning economy: they are more numerous and, collectively, have a higher turnover than any other form of business in the majority of countries around the globe. In all parts of the world, developed and undeveloped, however, they are starved of finance, and the finance that is available is often on unsuitable and unsatisfactory terms. This paper maps out the reasons for this, as well as particular problems caused by the unique characteristics of micro-businesses, and suggests some legal and institutional responses. Some responses are designed to increase access to finance for micro-businesses, by proposing measures to eliminate barriers, decrease costs and increase lender certainty. Others, however, are suggested in order to protect the borrowers, as by their nature, micro-businesses are vulnerable to abuse of bargaining power, and, since many of the risk-takers are individuals, lack of protection leads to social problems. These two rationales for legal response are in direct tension with each other in that a legal response designed to achieve the former usually cuts across the aim of the latter and vice versa. Without an appropriate balance being reached, changes designed to facilitate the financing of micro-businesses can either end up being so oppressive that the very people the changes are designed to assist fail to thrive economically or socially, or go too far towards protecting the borrowers and fail to increase access to credit. The actual decisions as to the appropriate balance are, of course, a matter of policy and will vary from state to state, depending on many factors. This paper merely seeks to identify responses and the resulting tensions, and go some way towards mapping out a framework for achieving that appropriate balance.

Purpose– The purpose of this paper is to examine key factors affecting the economic involvement of women in Bangladesh and women’s involvement with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) particularly in microcredit operating in that country.Design/methodology/approach– The study uses nationally representative data set. Quantitative analysis was utilised to explore data contained in the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Surveys 2007 and 2011.Findings– The findings indicate that age, marital status, number of children living in the household, place of residence, geographical location, education, partner’s education and the wealth index are important factors in enabling women’s involvement in economic activities. In other words, the key findings emerged from the study are first, the low level of women’s economic activities in Bangladesh with a majority involved in farming, agriculture and poultry; second, those women involved in the labour market generally tended to come from poor backgrounds, have very little education, live in the Northwest geographical region and have a large family living in the same house; and finally, age, currently married, having a higher number of children, living in rural areas, from the Northwest region with almost no education and belonging to the poor wealth index quintile are found to be associated more with NGO activities in Bangladesh.Social implications– The findings indicate there are potential barriers that are preventing Bangladeshi women from engaging in the labour market that could reinforce the case for reshaping the government’s labour policies. The study reveals that the recent economic crisis has no significant impact on the women labour force participation as well their involvement in NGO activities in Bangladesh. It is generally understood that enhancing women’s economic participation and NGO activities has a positive impact at family, community and country levels. The study concludes that investing in women, particularly in creating employment opportunities including NGO sectors can help the country as a safeguard even during the economic crisis. It is anticipated that the findings will help policy-makers in enhancing female labour force participation as well as encouraging them to engage in NGO activities in Bangladesh.Originality/value– The research paper is original in terms of conceptual framework, research design and statistical analysis.

- Abstract
This article aims to present the main marketing concepts applied by micro-enterprises within a brief contextualization of a marketing plan. The development and theoretical evolution have stemmed from the bibliographical research as well as field research and observational studies by the author of the article. The goal is neither to exhaust the topic or to construct a Marketing Plan, but rather to contribute to the discussion, learning and use of a marketing mix in the segment of micro-enterprises in a more assertive manner. It was concluded that there is no doubt as to the importance of micro-enterprises for any country. Their contribution lies mainly in the economic and social insertion. It should be taken into account that micro-enterprises are greatly responsible for job generation in our country, realising their prominent social and ecological perspective. More than a transient way of earning money, the reality of micro-enterprises must be considered as a social and economic phenomenon capable of generating regional and consequently, global growth., Este artigo tem o objetivo apresentar os principais conceitos de marketing aplicados pelas microempresas dentro de uma breve contextualização de um plano de marketing.

Organizational innovation ,Micro-businesses ,Business ,SMEs (Small business) ,Innovation - Abstract
Context and Purpose: This dissertation was based on the authors own practical experience of working with small and micro-enterprises (SaMEs) over eighteen years. In his experience, many business development models, originally developed around large firms, do not take account of the needs and characteristics of SaMEs, including innovation theories and models which base their research on large multinational organisations with apparently little consideration for how innovation is developed, managed or measured in SaMEs. Therefore, the author decided to undertake research into innovation in SaMEs in Donegal. The three overall objectives of this research study were to: Identify what SaMEs in Donegal understand by the term ‘innovation’ Investigate innovation practice(s) in SaMEs in Donegal Identify how innovation can be effectively measured within SaMEs. Design / Methodology / Approach In a process similar to Andrews et al. (2008), a detailed literature review was undertaken which guided subsequent research activities where data was collected using in-depth interviews. The two stages of data collection were: 1. Literature review supported by in-depth interviews with key informants (government bodies, agencies) who provided an insight to innovation practices within the county 2. In-depth interviews which provided a comprehensive view of the understanding, practice, motivations, behaviours and attitudes towards innovation and its measurement amongst SaMEs in Donegal 4 Findings: While very few SaMEs are aware of innovation theories, processes and procedures, practically all of them engage in some form of innovative activity. They possess a broad understanding of the ‘concept’ of innovation and are aware of its benefits. Enterprises engage in a wide range of innovations across products, processes, people, marketing, etc. and innovation is very important to them. However, innovation is not a managed or systematic process and while this is often due to lack of resources, the small size and flexible nature of SaMEs also means that innovative proposals with merit can be assessed and acted upon quickly. Many enterprises in Donegal do not engage with existing innovation networks/clusters as they feel that they are not suited to their needs. The main innovation barriers include lack of time and management support for innovation, the financial risk associated with innovations, poor ICT infrastructure, complacency amongst SaMEs and high costs of innovation including prototyping, IP, etc. Few SaMEs measure innovation activities and some only measure innovation because management accounts provide them with the information to facilitate this. A significant point to emerge from the study was the benefits of management accounts to SaMEs. Research Limitations: Very little information exists on innovation in micro enterprises. Furthermore, innovation is a very broad subject and while a number of significant themes emerged from the literature review, it was not feasible, as part of a Masters dissertation, to investigate these issues by means of an extensive quantitative survey with SaMEs. Originality / Value This paper seeks to provide an insight into the understanding which regionally-based, SaMEs have of innovation and whether, given their unique characteristics, they can practically use accepted innovation management theories, tools, etc. It also seeks to inform support organisations and other enterprises as to the challenges faced by regionally-based SaMEs in trying to implement innovation activities and whether current 5 support structures adequately address their needs. Finally, it seeks to establish whether innovation in SaMEs is effectively measured and whether innovation metrics have benefits for such organisations. Suggestions for Further Research: Further consideration should be given to whether recognised innovation management systems, models and structures as opposed to flatter, more organic innovation models are best suited to SaMEs. Also, can current support structures, networks, clusters, etc., be effectively tailored so that they are responsive to the real needs of SaMEs, and can current support organisations and policy makers present innovation more simply to SaMEs in a way which is easy to understand and practical to manage and which can demonstrate clear growth benefits. The benefits of effective management accounting systems which accrue to SaMEs in terms of knowledge management, innovation management and marketing activities should also be considered. Finally, as little research exists in relation to innovation in micro enterprises further studies should be undertaken in this area.

Modernist areas represent the ambivalent idea to live in a green city, which can provide light and air of open landscapes, and on the same time host facilities of an urban environment. Modernist areas as the Western Garden Cities in Amsterdam are also ambiguous spaces, their form shaped mainly by flowing open space. The ambiguity of space is related to its organisation, if the territorial order is missing, urban space tends to become non-legible. Recent fieldwork in Amsterdam showed that more businesses than assumed are located in this large area, which was planned and is generally still thought of as widely separated in functions. The infiltration with new businesses took also place at locations that were not used by businesses before. The changing use of built material changes partially also the territorial depth. Businesses can currently be found in four different types of territorial depth regarding the distance from the public street to the individual user unit, creating sometimes even more overlap between public and private. The ambiguity of the large open green spaces is affected only little by the higher activation of the area.
