Earlier, researchers tested the feasibility of e-learning for nursing students. However, whether satisfaction with e-learning affects students' mental health remains unknown. This study aimed to determine the influence of satisfaction with e-learning on mental health (stress, anxiety, and depression) among undergraduate nursing students. Methods. This study design was cross-sectional, correlational, and descriptive. Data were collected between April and December 2022 from local nursing colleges in 13 regions in Saudi Arabia. A convenience sampling method was employed to recruit undergraduate nursing students. One hundred forty-four students responded to the online questionnaire. Results. Nursing students demonstrated moderate levels of anxiety (M=9.89 (SD=4.28)), stress (M=10.40 (SD=4.05)), and depression (M=9.64 (SD=4.38)). Findings from interviews with domestic violence victims show that these women are subject to ineffectual practices and negative attitudes that tend to minimize domestic abuse and disempower victims. The findings reveal several problematic issues: inconsistencies in the implementation of the law, impunity for abusers because of both personal attitudes and social affinities between the police and abusers, ineffective enforcement of protective orders, and superficial processing of domestic violence cases by the legal system. Additional barriers to help-seeking include a lack of institutional support and guidelines for offering mental health services for victims as well as a scarcity of housing, childcare, and employment opportunities for women seeking to break the cycle of abuse. The findings underscore the need for society-wide changes in attitudes toward domestic violence, stricter mechanisms for enforcing the law, and mandatory training for service providers to facilitate the provision of more accessible and affirmative support to victims.

(1) Service underutilization has been attributable [...], Problem Underutilization of mental health services is a major barrier to reducing the burden of disease attributable to mental, neurological and substance-use disorders. Primary care-based screening to detect people with mental disorders misses people not frequently visiting health-care facilities or who lack access to services. Approach In two districts In Nepal, we trained lay community informants to use a tool to detect people with mental, neurological and substance-use disorders during routine community service. The community informant detection tool consists of vignettes, which are sensitive to the context, and pictures that are easy to understand for low literacy populations. Informants referred people they identified using the tool to health-care facilities. Three weeks after detection, people were interviewed by trained research assistants to assess their help-seeking behaviour and whether they received any treatment. Local setting Decentralized mental health services are scarce in Nepal and few people with mental disorders are seeking care. Relevant changes Out of the 509 people identified through the community informant detection tool, two-thirds (67%; 341) accessed health services and 77% (264) of those individuals initiated mental health treatment. People in the rural Pyuthan district (208 out of 268) were more likely to access health care than those living in Chitwan district (133 out of 241). Lessons learnt The Introduction of the tool increased the utilization of mental health services in a low-income country with few health resources. The tool seems beneficial in rural settings, where communities are close-knit and community informants are familiar with those in need of mental health services. Approche Dans deux districts du Nepal, nous avons forme des informateurs de la communaute non professionnels a l'utilisation d'un outil permettant de detecter les personnes atteintes de troubles mentaux, neurologlques et associes a la toxlcomanle lors de services ordinaires dans la communaute. Cet outil comprenalt des scenarios adaptes a differents contextes et des images facilementcomprehensibles par des populations peu alphabetisees. Les informateurs ont oriente les personnes reperees a l'aide de cet outil vers des etablissements de sante. Trois semaines plus tard, ces personnes ont ete interrogees par des assistants de recherche formes afin devaluer leur demande de soins et de savoir si elles avaient recu un traltement. Lecciones aprendidas La introduccion de la herramienta aumento el uso de servicios de salud mental en un pais con ingresos bajos y escasos recursos sanitarios. La herramienta parece ser beneficiosa en zonas rurales, donde las comunidades estan muy cohesionadas y los informantes comunitarios estan familiarizados con las personas que necesitan servicios de salud mental.

Social work's person-in-environment perspective requires that practitioners consider the social and physical environment--its problems, supports, and opportunities--and, specifically, individuals' goodness of fit with it. Yet the development of models for [...], This article reviews recent theory and research on geographic disparities in mental health and their implications for social work. It focuses on work emerging from the fields of mental health geography, psychiatric epidemiology, and social work, arguing that a wide range of spatial disparities in mental health are important to understand but that of greatest relevance are inequities, or disparities, that violate fundamental norms of fairness and social justice. Research is reviewed on geographic variations in subjective well-being and mental health, on personality (using the five-factor model), and on psychopathology as well as several studies on the disparate implementation of mental health policy and services. Critical is the need to simultaneously assess, on the one hand, differential patterns of mental health conditions and, on the other, the services and policies designed to address them-the fact that considering only one dimension often leads to unintended consequences. Many of the most outstanding disparities have been found to exist at the local level, between towns and neighborhoods, and are based on socioeconomic conditions. This review concludes by discussing the implications of geographic disparities in mental health for allocation decisions and for social work practice, including decisions about the most efficacious mix of services at both the community and clinical practice levels. By the year 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) anticipates that cardiovascular [...], On the basis of current epidemiological and clinical research, this article describes how mental health symptoms are associated with heart disease, a major chronic condition that occurs primarily in middle and late life. The article describes the culturally and historically important link between heart and mind. It then describes depression and anxiety, both as manifestations of heart disease and as contributors to the disease prognosis. In addition to discussing risk factors, the article discusses factors that protect against the co-occurrence of mental health problems and heart disease such as positive attitudes, coping mechanisms, social supports, and spirituality. Further, the article highlights issues concerning the clinical assessment of mental health symptoms and interventions to address them. Finally, it summarizes the collaborative chronic care model, in which health care professionals--including medical, mental health, gerontological, and community social workers--assess and manage patients with comorbid mental health symptoms and heart disease.
