Introduction The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) established the Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry (AHOBPR) in 2014 to address exposure concerns for veterans who have served in military operations in Southwest Asia and Afghanistan. By 2021, over 236,086 veterans completed the online questionnaire and 60% requested an AHOBPR examination. Of those requesting an exam, only 12% had an exam recorded in their medical record. This article summarizes barriers and facilitators to delivering AHOBPR exams and shares lessons learned from facilities who have successfully implemented burn pit exams for veterans. Materials and Methods We (I.C.C and J.H.) constructed a key performance measure of AHOBPR examination (the ratio of examinations performed in facility over examinations assigned to a facility) to identify top performing facilities and then used stratified purposeful sampling among high-performing sites to recruit a diverse set of facilities for participation. We (P.V.C. and A.A.) recruited and interviewed key personnel at these facilities about their process of administering burn pit exams. Rapid qualitative methods were used to analyze interviews. Results The ratio of exams performed to exams assigned ranged from 0.00 to 14.50 for the 129 facilities with available information. Twelve interviews were conducted with a total of 19 participants from 10 different facilities. We identified 3 barriers: Unclear responsibility, limited incentives and competing duties for personnel involved, and constrained resources. Facilitators included the presence of an internal facilitator, additional staff support, and coordination across a facility's departments to provide care. Conclusions Gaps across many VHA facilities to provide AHOBPR exams may be understood as stemming from organizational issues related to clear delegation of responsibility and staffing issues. Accessing care in the Emergency Department is often fraught with stress and heightened emotions due to illness or injury, and the complexity of navigating an often busy and overwhelming healthcare setting. For people who identify as trans (binary and non-binary), accessing Emergency Department care is often associated with additional stress or avoided due to fears of discrimination, or previous negative experiences (1). The aim of this integrative review was to identify and review the literature relating to the experiences of trans (binary and non-binary) people accessing Emergency Department care, to guide practice and future research. A structured search process was used to identify 11 articles published between January 2013 and November 2023. These articles were appraised using the mixed methods appraisal tool (MMAT) (2) and included in this review. Utilising the methodology outlined by Whittemore & Knafl (3), a constant comparison analytic approach identified five key themes; 1. emergency department context; 2. interactions with staff and language; 3. health professional knowledge; 4. advocacy; and 5. disclosing trans status. This review identified a perceived lack of competence for healthcare providers to deliver gender affirming healthcare in the Emergency Department due to perceptions of inadequate healthcare provider knowledge, and structural barriers founded on cisgender processes. Background: A food environment intervention using nudge tactics was implemented at a hospital convenience store (CVS) in Tokyo to improve employees' eating habits. The objective of this study was to evaluate its effects on the urinary sodium-to-potassium ratio (Na/K), food intake, eating attitude, and behavior. Methods: Using a pre–post design; the intervention incorporated nudge tactics, healthier options, easy-to-pick food placement, and eye-catching information. We also used price incentives. The primary outcomes included changes in Na/K and sodium and potassium excretion assessed using spot urine samples at health checkups. Secondary outcomes were changes in staff food intake, eating attitude, and behavior which were assessed using questionnaire surveys. All outcomes were evaluated statistically. Furthermore, we investigated how the intervention led to outcomes using path analysis. Results: A total of 140 participant (52men and 88women) were analyzed. Significant changes were observed in Na/K (3.16 to 2.98 in median, p = 0.02) and potassium excretion (43.4 to 45.2 mmol/day in mean, p = 0.03). However, sodium excretion did not change significantly. The intake of fruits and dairy products increased with improved self-efficacy. The most influential factor for lowering Na/K and increasing potassium excretion was information from the CVS; purchasing "balanced meals" to lower Na/K and salads to increase potassium excretion were second. Background: The incidence of femoral neck fractures in older adults is increasing each year. Active and reasonable postoperative rehabilitation exercises can restore the activity of geriatric patients with femoral neck fractures to a great extent, while also avoiding bedridden complications and re-fractures. This study explores the perspectives, experiences, and recommendations of medical staff regarding the implementation status, existing problems, promoting factors, and hindering factors of post-surgical rehabilitation exercises for geriatric patients with femoral neck fractures. The ultimate goal is to further optimize rehabilitation exercise programs and to expedite this process for patients. Methods: A qualitative, descriptive phenomenological study was conducted. A total of 21 clinical medical staff were selected using the purposive sampling method for semi-structured interviews. A content analysis method was used to collate and analyze the collected interview data. Results: A total of 2 themes and 6 sub-themes were defined. The themes consisted of multiple obstacles occurring during the implementation of rehabilitation exercises and the scientific cognition of medical staff on these exercises. Respondents found that patient initiative during rehabilitation exercises was insufficient, that the comprehensiveness and continuity of exercises could not be guaranteed, and that unification between textbook theory and clinical practice was incomplete. Moreover, respondents believed that their professional quality should be excellent, but that staffing and organizational management required optimization, and that support was required for the implementation of rehabilitation exercises. Conclusion: This study investigated the opinions and experiences of medical staff during postoperative rehabilitation exercises in geriatric patients with femoral neck fractures. Collaborative efforts should fully engage hospitals, communities, and families, enhance the alignment of health education with patient needs, advance the scientific development of an integrated medical model by refining the curriculum and teaching system, and significantly elevate the level of medical science and technology. This study will serve as a valuable reference for the establishment of future professional, and personalized rehabilitation programs tailored for geriatric patients with femoral neck fractures. This study aimed to examine the association between occupational burnout and psychological symptoms among Chinese medical staff, assuming social support to play a moderating role in the aforementioned relationship. The survey was conducted online from May 1 to June 28, 2022, and the questionnaires were distributed and retrieved through a web-based platform. The final sample was comprised of 1461 Chinese medical staff in this cross-sectional study. Several multiple linear regressions were performed to analyze the data. After controlling for potential confounding factors, all three dimensions of occupational burnout were associated with poorer psychological symptoms. Emotional exhaustion (β = 0.33; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.018, 1.479) had the strongest association with psychological symptoms, followed by depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment. Moreover, medical staff with higher levels of friend support (β = −0.11; 95% CI, −4.063, −0.573) and significant other support (β = −0.10; 95% CI, −3.965, −0.168) were less likely to suffer from psychological symptoms when faced with occupational burnout. The results suggested that interventions aimed at lessening occupational burnout and boosting social support can be an effective way to promote the psychological health of medical staff. Background and Aims: Medical staff have experienced anxiety, sleep disturbances, and suicide due to the COVID‐19 epidemic. Thus, this study examined the relationship between corona disease anxiety, sleep problems, and suicidal ideation in medical staff and how resiliency and cognitive flexibility mediate it. Methods: This descriptive‐analytical cross‐sectional study examined medical staff. In 2022, participants were affiliated with Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, Iran educational and treatment centers. Sampling was done at primary COVID‐19 treatment centers. Data was collected using validated instruments. Ethics were observed during data collecting. Results: Path analysis was employed to test hypotheses. Analysis showed significant positive relationships between Corona disease anxiety and sleep disturbances (p = 0.001, β = 0.438) and suicidal ideation (p = 0.001, β = 0.310). Conversely, negative and significant associations were identified between resiliency and cognitive flexibility with sleep disturbances and suicidal ideation. Conclusions: The study illustrates how medical staff's psychological health is linked to COVID‐19. High Corona disease anxiety causes sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts. Resilience and cognitive flexibility modulated Corona disease anxiety, sleep problems, and suicidal thoughts. This study assessed the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of non-ophthalmic medical staff towards myopia-related fundus lesions. This multicenter, cross-sectional study enrolled non-ophthalmic medical staff of Suining City between January and May 2023 using a self-designed questionnaire. A total of 505 (93.19%) valid questionnaires were included. Their mean KAP scores were 8.10 ± 2.32 (range: 0–12), 20.27 ± 2.68 (range: 0–24), and 17.77 ± 5.04 (range: 0–28), respectively. Structural equation modeling indicated that knowledge has a positive effect on attitude (β = 0.307, P < 0.001), and attitude has a positive effect on practice (β = 0.604, P < 0.001). Moreover, a higher degree of myopia exhibited a positive effect on knowledge (β = 0.510, P < 0.001). Nurses and other medical staff showed a negative effect on knowledge (β = − 0.706, P < 0.001) compared to doctors. Working in secondary and tertiary public hospitals, as well as private hospitals, demonstrated a negative effect on practice (β = − 1.963, P < 0.001) compared to those working in primary hospitals. Non-ophthalmic medical staff exhibited moderate knowledge, positive attitudes, and moderate practices toward myopia-related fundus lesions. When the French invaded Vietnam, they disrupted the traditional Eastern medical system to establish a Western medical system. Initially, they set up a network of hospitals and clinics and brought doctors and medical staff from France to work. As the French began to exploit the colonies in Indochina, the demand for medical personnel increased, and the team from the metropole could not meet the needs of the healthcare system. In 1902, the French authorities officially implemented a policy of Western medical t raining in Vietnam by establishing the Hanoi Medical School. Over more than 40 years of existence and development, besides Hanoi Medical School, the French also opened the Native Practical Medical School in Southern Vietnam. The implementation of these policies and the activities of Western medical training underwent many changes and ups and downs but yielded positive results. The policies and activities of Western medical training marked a fundamental transformation of Vietnam's healthcare system, bringing it closer to global medical achievements. Though a product of colonialism and serving primarily the colonial elite, the Western medical training activities in Vietnam during the French colonial period still offer valuable lessons for developing Vietnam's healthcare today. Background: Certain occupations may predispose individuals to urolithiasis, a multi-factorial disease. The study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and related factors of nephrolithiasis in medical staff in Qingdao, China. Methods: Physical examination results of 5115 in-service medical staff aged 22–60 years old were retrospectively analyzed. Multivariable logistic regression analysis and stratified analyses by age and gender were applied to explore the related factors of nephrolithiasis in these medical staff. Results: The overall nephrolithiasis prevalence in medical staff in Qingdao, China was 4.65%. Doctors were more prone to nephrolithiasis than nurses (5.63% vs. 3.96%, P = 0.013) and the peak prevalence (6.69%) was observed in medical staff working in the emergency department (ED). Male gender (OR = 1.615, 95% CI = 1.123–2.323, P = 0.010), overweight or obesity (OR = 1.674, 95% CI = 1.266–2.214, P < 0.001), work seniority ≥ 10 years (OR = 2.489, 95%CI = 1.675–3.699, P < 0.001) and working in the ED (OR = 1.815, 95% CI = 1.202–2.742, P = 0.005) were independent predictors for nephrolithiasis in medical staff based on the results of multivariate logistic regression analysis. The associations between overweight or obesity and nephrolithiasis risk as well as between work seniority ≥ 10 years and nephrolithiasis risk in medical staff were independent of age or gender in stratified analysis. Conclusions: Nephrolithiasis prevalence in medical staff in Qingdao, China seemed not to be higher than that in the general population. Background: Data on the prevalence of sick building syndrome (SBS) and its components in medical staff working at the Semnan University of Medical Sciences are limited. Objectives: The present study investigated the prevalence of SBS and its related factors in the medical staff in Semnan, Iran. Methods: A cross-sectional study was done on 300 medical staff in Kausar Hospital in Semnan, Iran, in 2020. A standard questionnaire was used to obtain information about SBS and indoor air quality. In order to measure environmental factors, random sampling was taken from different parts of the hospital, including building inspection, dust samples, and indoor and outdoor air measurements. The condition of physical factors, including temperature, humidity, and ventilation, was checked using relevant devices. The NIOSH 0800 method was used to measure the biological status of the working spaces in terms of fungal and bacterial contamination. Data analyses were performed using SPSS 26. Results: The mean age of the participants was 32.23 ± 5.34 years, of whom 81% were women. The prevalence of SBS was 65%, with the highest prevalence in the emergency ward (18%), followed by internal (16%), intensive care unit (13%), and cardiac care unit (12%). Sleep disorder (65%), tiredness (59%), feeling heavy (47%), headache (46%) and stress (45%) were the most common components of the SBS. There was a statistically significant relationship between the presence of harmful environmental factors, including noise, static electricity, unpleasant smell, and infection, and the prevalence of SBS (all P-values < 0.05). Conclusions: Considering the high prevalence of SBS in hospital employees, re-engineering the hospital environment and improving the air quality and ventilation systems may be useful in preventing SBS. Aim of the study This qualitative study explores the resilience of medical staff working in emergency units during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, the research investigates how frontline healthcare workers coped with unprecedented challenges. Key themes identified include professional commitment, teamwork, and adaptability, which were crucial in navigating the crisis. Materials and methods: In order to assess the resilience of the medical staff in the COVID-19 pandemic between March 1, 2022 and March 31, 2021, a study was conducted in three emergency units in Romania: County Hospital of Emergency „Saint Spiridon” Iassy, Emergency University Hospital Bucharest and County Hospital of Emergency “Saint John the New” Suceava. Results: The study highlights the significant emotional and psychological toll on medical staff and underscores the importance of institutional support systems. Findings suggest that enhancing resilience through training, mental health resources, and robust communication channels is essential for future preparedness. Conclusions: This research provides valuable insights into the experiences of healthcare workers and emphasizes the need for sustained support to ensure the well-being and efficacy of medical personnel in emergency settings.

The article compares the features of positive thinking and stress levels in physicians and medical staff, but the nature of duties and work differs in many ways, which may serve to identify significant differences among workers of two similar professions. The purpose of the study is to examine the positive thinking and stress levels characteristics in helping professions. Objectives of the study are to analyze the scientific literature, to identify the positive thinking and stress levels in specialists, and to establish differences in these levels in specialists of different profiles. The subject of the study is the peculiarities of positive thinking and stress levels in specialists. The literature on the topic under study has been analyzed according to the works of N.E. Vodopyanova, T.O. Gordeeva, E.N. Osin, V.Y. Shevyakhova, and Yu.V. Scherbatykh. The following methods were used: stress manifestations complex assessment (Yu.V. Shcherbatykh (2008), questionnaire of successes and failures reaction ways for adults (STONE-V, T.O. Gordeeva, V.Y. Shevyakhova (2008), optimism and activity scale in N.E. Vodopyanova’s adaptation (2009). Statistically significant differences have been revealed only on the “Optimism in the situation of success” scale, which indicates the difference in the behavior of physicians and medical staff. The results of the study can be the basis for creating recommendations for helping employees cope with stress. The prospect is to extend the study of the phenomenon to other helping professions and compare the results.

However, at present, the performance-oriented management system of medical institutions, imbalanced allocation of medical resources, and other problems are likely to cause unethical pro-organisational behaviour (UPB) among medical staff.Objective: To explore the causes of pro-organizational unethical behaviors among health care workers from the perspective of employee-organizational relationships and to investigate the mechanism of organizational support perception on pro-organizational unethical behaviors.Methods: A multi-stage sampling method was used to assess 322 health care workers from several tertiary and above public hospitals in China, using the Sense of Organizational Support Scale, the Organizational Identity Scale and the Pro-Organizational Unethical Behavior Scale.Results: All dimensions of perceived organisational support (job support, concerns about employee interests, and value identification) significantly positively predicted organisational identification and UPB (p < 0.05). Organisational identification significantly positively predicted UPB (p < 0.05), and partially mediated the relationship between all three dimensions of perceived organisational support and UPB.Conclusion: Medical institutions in China could positively guide medical staff through professional training to effectively avoid their UPB. Digital technologies, such as internet platforms, can also be used to increase job support for medical staff from outside the organisation. Given the scarcity of quantitative research on motivating medical staff in relevant institutions, this study aimed to explore the impact of institutional support on motivating the provision of HMCS.Methods: The medical staff involved in this study originated from seven community health service centers in Beijing. We utilized a self-designed questionnaire to conduct the survey, gathering socioeconomic information, institutional support for service delivery, as well as the frequency and types of services the respondents provided. Statistical analysis involved the one-way tests and multivariate regressions, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to enhance the results obtained from the regression analysis.Results: A total of 673 valid questionnaires were considered, with 66.12% of respondents indicating their involvement in offering HMCS services and 51.86% reporting the provision of home-based treatment and care services. Upon adjusting for all covariates, multiple regression results highlighted that the establishment of a clear service pathway significantly influenced the motivation to provide services. Furthermore, the results obtained from SEM validated the findings derived from the regression analysis.Conclusion: Standardized institutional support is an essential means of bolstering the motivation of medical staff to provide HMCS and deserves heightened attention from health administrators.Keywords: home-based medical care services, motivation, medical staff, institutional support

Objective: It was aimed to evaluate the phobia levels of COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease 2019) in medical staff working in the pandemic service and intensive care service and to examine its relationship with psychosocial impact levels. Material and Method: The study included 100 people working in the pandemic service and intensive care units in the first year of the pandemic. Sociodemographic Data Form, COVID-19 Pandemic Psychosocial Impact Scale (CPPIS) and COVID-19 Phobia Scale (CPS) were administered to all participants. Results: The mean age of the participants was 32.5±7.4 years and 74% of them were women. Of them 29% were doctors, 52% were nurses, 19% were allied health personnel and 66% worked in the service, 29% in the intensive care unit and 5% in both. There were very strong correlations between the CPS and the CPPIS total score, the death anxiety and anxious thoughts subscale scores. A strong positive correlation was found between the CPS and CPPIS subscales scores including close relationships, functionality and somatic symptoms. A significant positive correlation was found between CPS and CPPIS scores and the duration of working in the pandemic service and intensive care unit. Conclusion: It was thought that as choranophobia increased in medical staffs working in the pandemic service, their psychosocial effects also increased. It has been thought that reducing the working time in the service and/or intensive care unit during the pandemic, performing short-term rotations, may reduce the level of psychosocial impact and even be protective in terms of mental health of medical staff.

Abstract Background Chronic shoulder and neck pain is one of the most common chronic occupational disorders, with an average incidence rate of 48.5%, severely affecting patients’ quality of life and ability to work. According to epidemiological research, the prevalence of chronic neck, shoulder, and low back pain in adults over the age of 45 ranges from 40 to 80%. According to reports, medical staff have a higher incidence rate than other populations, and there is a positive correlation between the grade of the medical institution and the incidence rate, making medical staff a priority group for the prevention of chronic neck, shoulder, and low back pain. By the end of 2022, China has been fully opened to epidemic prevention and control, the total number of patients in domestic hospitals has increased significantly, and resulting in medical personnel shoulting great pressure, which seriously affects the physical and mental health of medical personnel. The aim of this study was to explore the risk factors of chronic neck, shoulder and lumbar back pain in medical staff. To provide guidelines for medical staff to improve cervical and lumbar subacute pain and reduce the emergence of spinal lesions. Methods From January to February 2023, 602 staff members of a third-grade hospital in Zunyi City were studied by Questionnaire star. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression were used to analyze the independent risk factors of chronic neck, shoulder and lumbar back pain in medical staff, with stepwise regression utilized to choose the optimum model. The model was selected using Akaike’s information criterion (AIC) and the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test. Results A total of 602 medical staff were polled, and the findings revealed that 588 cases of chronic neck, shoulder, and low back pain of varied severity had occurred in the previous 1 to 2 years, with a 97.7% incidence rate; logistic regression analysis revealed that anxiety level, frequency of bending over in the previous 1 to 2 years, whether related preventive measures were taken at work, gender, positive senior title, daily ambulation time, and whether the department they worked in organized independent influencing factors. Conclusion The incidence of chronic neck, shoulder, and lumbar back pain among medical staff is high; its influencing factors are different and have not been systematically identified. Hospitals should take effective measures tailored to local conditions to improve the physical and mental health of medical staff.

Objective: To evaluate the quality of dying and death among deceased patients with cancer in Shanghai from the perspective of healthcare providers. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Shanghai from April to July 2023. A convenience sample of 261 healthcare providers working at eight healthcare institutions participated. Each participant was asked to evaluate the quality of dying and death of one deceased patient who had been cared for recently using the Good Death Scale for patients in China (GDS-PCN). The scale included family companionship (eight items), dying with peace (six items), professional care (six items), preparation & no regrets (five items), maintaining dignity (four items), keeping autonomy (four items), and physical wellbeing (three items) seven dimensions, 36 items. Results: The total GDS-PCN score was 144.11 ± 17.86. The professional care dimension scored the highest (4.21 ± 0.58), whereas the preparation and no regret dimension scored the lowest (3.75 ± 0.70). Abstract Background Scientific research activity in hospitals is important for promoting the development of clinical medicine, and the scientific literacy of medical staff plays an important role in improving the quality and competitiveness of hospital research. To date, no index system applicable to the scientific literacy of medical staff in China has been developed that can effectively evaluate and guide scientific literacy. This study aimed to establish an index system for the scientific literacy of medical staff in China and provide a reference for improving the evaluation of this system. Methods In this study, a preliminary indicator pool for the scientific literacy of medical staff was constructed through the nominal group technique (n = 16) with medical staff. Then, two rounds of Delphi expert consultation surveys (n = 20) were conducted with clinicians, and the indicators were screened, revised and supplemented using the boundary value method and expert opinions. Next, the hierarchical analysis method was utilized to determine the weights of the indicators and ultimately establish a scientific literacy indicator system for medical staff. Results Following expert opinion, the index system for the scientific literacy of medical staff featuring 2 first-level indicators, 9 second-level indicators, and 38 third-level indicators was ultimately established, and the weights of the indicators were calculated. The two first-level indicators were research literacy and research ability, and the second-level indicators were research attitude (0.375), ability to identify problems (0.2038), basic literacy (0.1250), ability to implement projects (0.0843), research output capacity (0.0747), professional capacity (0.0735), data-processing capacity (0.0239), thesis-writing skills (0.0217), and ability to use literature (0.0181). Physical and mental health problems had been identified as the negative outcomes of workplace violence (WPV) against medical staff. Considering the proven associations between physical and mental health and suicidal ideation, it is reasonable to assume that WPV may associate with suicidal ideation. However, few studies were conducted to explore the relationship between WPV and their suicidal ideation against medical staff. Based on a cross-sectional design, 3, 426 medical staff working in general hospitals were interviewed in Shandong Province, China. Socio-demographic characteristics, work-related factors, psychological variables, WPV, and suicidal ideation were evaluated. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to explore the association between WPV and suicidal ideation. The prevalence of suicidal ideation among medical staff was 9.1% (312/3426), and 52.2% (1788/3426) of medical staff reported the WPV experience. Before PSM, we found that the association between WPV and suicidal ideation was statistically significant (aOR = 1.606, p < 0.01). After PSM, there was a statistically significant correlation between WPV and suicidal ideation (aOR = 1.525, p < 0.01). This study supported the correlations between WPV against medical staff and their suicidal ideation. The results of PSM further implied that WPV might cause suicidal ideation among medical staff. ：Objective To understand the current state of research on occupational burnout among medical staff in China and to summarize the achievements and shortcomings of current studies, providing insights for future management and intervention of medical staff burnout. Methods A literature review was conducted using the CNKI and Wanfang databases for articles published between 2002 and 2022, based on relevant keywords. An Excel database was established to extract information from the literature, including journal information, author information, burnout assessment scales, and influencing factors. The influencing factors of medical staff burnout were organized and summarized, and a saturation curve was drawn. Articles utilizing the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) were extracted to analyze scores across three dimensions of burnout: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. Results A total of 205 articles were retrieved, with 76 included in the final analysis, all from core journals listed by Peking University, the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI), or the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD). The number of publications has generally increased since 2005. Totally 18 articles used the service industry version of the burnout scale (Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey, MBI-HSS), with a total sample size of 8 327. The scores for emotional exhaustion were (23.33 ±10.41) points, for depersonalization (7.98 ± 6.50) points, and for reduced personal accomplishment (27.29 ± 11.01) points. Medical staff in the eastern region showed the highest levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization but the lowest levels of reduced personal accomplishment. While those in the western region had the lowest levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization but the highest levels of reduced personal accomplishment (P < 0.05). Since 2010, the degree of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization among medical staff has increased, but there has been a decrease in reduced personal accomplishment (P < 0.01). The influencing factors for burnout were widely distributed across individual, organizational, and social categories. Conclusions Medical staff in China experienced moderate levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and high levels of reduced personal accomplishment. There are more and more studies on influencing factors of burnout among medical staff, but they are mainly cross-sectional studies. Tick-borne rickettsial disease (TBRD) is a perilous acute infection that often eludes diagnosis in its early stages. The triad of knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAPs) among medical professionals is key to reducing missed diagnosis rates. Therefore, a meticulous evaluation of KAPs is imperative. This study aimed to delve into the understanding of TBRD and explore the beliefs and practices related to personal prevention methods among individuals in Lu'an, a hotspot for TBRD. During the summer months of 2023, convenience sampling was employed by circulating a confidential questionnaire to 1,206 participants in the endemic regions of China. This questionnaire painted a comprehensive picture of the participants' sociodemographic profiles and their KAPs levels vis-à-vis TBRD. The findings revealed that participants scored a mere 55.78% in knowledge, while their attitudes and practices garnered impressive scores of 90.09% and 90.83%, respectively. Upon further analysis using multiple linear regression, several intriguing patterns emerged. Male participants, employed in the Infectious Disease Department, held vice-senior or higher titles, or had prior medical training demonstrated superior knowledge scores. On the other hand, medical personnel who were younger than 30, possessed graduate degrees or higher qualifications, and had training excelled in attitudes and practices. Notably, when employing the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) matrix, a significant distribution of medical personnel was observed across the four quadrants. Specifically, 37.43%, 13.19%, 19.61%, and 29.77% fell into the first, second, third, and fourth quadrants. This survey underscores the commendable attitudes and practices of medical staff towards TBRD in endemic regions of China. Introduction: Antibiotic resistance poses a significant threat to public health, that can lead to reduced effectiveness of many therapies, increased morbidity, longer hospitalization times, increased deaths, and additional costs for health care systems. Unreasonable use of antibiotics may result from a lack of adequate knowledge about antibiotic therapy and a lack of knowledge of the risks associated with antibiotic resistance, both among medical personnel and patients. Aim. The primary objective of the study was to verify the opinion of medical personnel on the risks associated with antibiotic resistance. Material and Methods: The study was conducted in 2023 among 605 Polish sanitary workers. An anonymous survey designed specifically for the purpose of the study was used. The survey was made available on the Internet through the Trade Unions of Pharmacy Workers and directly to hospitals with the support of local authorities. Results: The majority of respondents were women (77.36%). The largest group consisted of individuals over 40 years of age (55.04%). More than half of the respondents were nurses (56.20%), and every fourth of the respondents was a physician (23.64%). Most respondents consider antibiotic resistance to be a very serious (24.13%) or extremely serious (30.75%) problem. The problem of antibiotic resistance on a global scale was mentioned, especially in the opinions of physicians and nurses (p < 0.01), people working in the profession for over a year (p < 0.01), and people with a specialization or undergoing specialist training (p = 0.00). Similarly, these groups most often indicated that antibiotic resistance poses a problem in their workplace. The main problems of antibiotic resistance were the use of antibiotics in farm animals (36.69%), the pressure on patients to take antibiotics (38.84%), and the prophylactic use of antibiotics (43.15%). Conclusions: Medical personnel consider antibiotic resistance a somewhat serious problem, although not all agree in this regard. The risk of antibiotic resistance is much more seriously assessed by physicians and nurses, as well as by people with specializations or undergoing specialization training. BACKGROUND: Studies have extensively examined the factors contributing to the onset of occupational stress, burnout, and depression. However, the relationship between these variables is limited. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the association between occupational stress, burnout, and depressive symptoms and to investigate the mediating effect of burnout between occupational stress and depressive symptoms in medical staff. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among medical staff in Chongqing, China. The Core Occupational Stress Scale (COSS), Maslach Burnout Inventory: General Survey (MBI-GS), and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) were used to assess the status of occupational stress, burnout, and depressive symptoms, respectively. The bootstrapping analyses using SPSS PROCESS macros version 3 were conducted to examine mediating effects. RESULTS: The study conducted on medical staff in Chongqing revealed that the detection rates of occupational stress, occupational burnout, and depressive symptoms were 31.8%, 23.3%, and 30.3%, respectively. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that occupational stress and burnout accounted for 19.3% (p < 0.001) and 18.8% (p < 0.001) of the variance in depressive symptoms, respectively. Mediation analysis showed that occupational stress indirectly affected depressive symptoms through the mediating effect of occupational burnout, with a mediation effect value of 0.13 (bootstrap 95% CI: 0.116-0.144) and the mediation effect accounting for 44.8% of the total effect. CONCLUSION: Our results indicated that occupational stress and burnout were predictors of depressive symptoms. Occupational stress had a significant indirect effect on depressive symptoms via burnout. Objective: This comparative study of the second and third waves of the COVID-19 pandemic aimed to: 1) examine the mental health status of hospital staff; 2) describe the associations among various factors that affect mental health; and 3) investigate the impact of COVID-19. Materials and Methods: Data were collected from Siriraj Hospital staff using online questionnaires including demographics, staff characteristics, health behavior, readiness to handle COVID-19; COVID-19 impact; and the Thai version of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21 (DASS-21). Results: Depression, anxiety, and stress scores were significantly higher in the third wave. Living in a high-surveillance area, social distancing difficulties, health behaviors, and office work all impacted mental health in both waves. Demographics, infection exposure outside the hospital, awareness of social distancing, and readiness to work from home impacted only the second wave. Direct work with COVID-19 patients impacted only the third wave. The common stressors included living expenses, daily life changes, and disease prevention costs in both waves, with COVID-19 news having a greater impact in the third wave. Main daily life impacts were income, transportation, and disease prevention equipment in both waves, with food becoming more important in the third wave. Conclusion: Mental health should be prioritized especially in severe waves, focusing on staff at high risk of infection, experiencing social distancing challenges, daily life changes, and having health problems. Opportunities for specialization, professional development and career progression are of particular importance, alongside funding, for all healthcare professionals. Often they also determine the choice of workplace. Purpose: To investigate the perception of the opportunity for specialization and professional development, as well as the incentives for it, of the employees of the “Pirogov” University Hospital. Methodology: A survey was conducted among 572 employees of “Pirogov” University Hospital. Result: The most critical towards the opportunity for specialization and professional development at the “Pirogov” University Hospital are employees aged 25 to 44 years. They gave an "excellent" or "good" rating in 60.2% of cases for ages 25 to 34 and in 62.0% of cases for ages 35 to 44, respectively. The group with the highest percentage of "excellent" or "good" ratings is the oldest age group - 81.3%. Women and those with more experience rate the opportunities and incentives for professional development higher. In addition to being the only hospital for emergency medicine in Bulgaria, the "Pirogov" University Hospital has clinics unique to the country and others of national importance and functions. Therefore, it is extremely important how the staff of the hospital assesses the quality of medical activity in the hospital. Conclusions: The assessment of the quality of medical activity of the staff of the “Pirogov” University Hospital correlates with the assessment of the opportunity for specialization and professional development, respectively the incentives for this. 91.6% of the respondents chose the same or two similar ratings in their answers to the questions about the quality of the medical service and the opportunity for specialization and professional development, and the incentives for this. Correspondingly, 25.9% rated the quality of medical care higher compared to the opportunity for specialization and professional development. Recommendations: The quality of the activity is determined by the qualifications of the staff. In the survey we found a very high overall evaluation of the service by the medics. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic placed an extraordinary burden on health care workers (HCW), who are reported to suffer from great mental stress. The current study investigates the mental health of HCW in the later phases of the pandemic. Methods: HCW completed the following questionnaires online (06/2021-02/2022, N=159): demographics (age, gender, profession, ward), Impact of Event Scale (IES-R, posttraumatic stress), State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-S, state anxiety), stress-coping questionnaire (SVF-78), and bespoke corona-specific stress and protective-factor questions (5 items each). We used factor analysis to test scale properties and regression-type methods (t-tests, ANOVA, multiple regression) for hypothesis tests and effect-size estimation. Results/discussion: Mental stress in HCW is influenced by similar factors as described for earlier phases. However, differences to earlier phases were found in ward affiliation which is no longer a variable of concern for explaining differences in mental health of HCW. Further, even if nurses are the occupational group with the highest mental stress as in prior research, detailed analysis shows that medical specialists with close proximity to patients with a high-level of responsibility are the most burdened sub-group. Unlike nurses, they suffer from high levels of anxiety in addition to high levels of post-traumatic and COVID-specific stress. Analyses showed further that COVID-specific stress is the strongest predictor of mental stress, wherein COVID-specific stress factors remain the same as reported in literature on the early pandemic phases. HCW showed to use still more positive than negative coping strategies. Negative strategies increased as expected mental stress, whereas positive strategies alleviated only anxiety. Additionally, we found that doctors benefited from many protective factors while nurses had access to fewer protective factors like earlier waves. Conclusion: Data show that HCW still suffer from mental stress in the third year of the pandemic. HCW of all hospital wards may be affected by mental stress and need attention and protective measures. Medical specialists are the most burdened subgroup. Detailed analyses show that properties other than occupation, gender, or ward affiliation are more appropriate to evaluate mental stress of HCW. Background/Aim. Resuscitation and surgical medical aid are the most important medical procedures in disaster relief operations. The limited time frame available for lifesaving activities in such circumstances demands that resuscitation and surgical medical teams be established and trained for timely reaction and disaster medical support prior to disaster occurrence. The aim of the study was to analyze the awareness among the hospital medical staff in the Plovdiv Region of the hospital response plan in case of disaster, which concerns surgical and resuscitation team composition and tasks for disaster medical support. Methods. An anonymous survey, consisting of 55 questions about hospital staff awareness of the medical activities described in the hospital disaster medical support plan, was conducted between July and September 2019 among 295 hospital medical professionals in the Plovdiv Region, Bulgaria. Descriptive statistics and Pearson's χ2 test were used in the statistical analysis of results. Results. The survey showed that the majority of medical staff demonstrated complete ignorance regarding the presence, number, and tasks of the specialized medical teams planned for hospital disaster response. Employees of multidisciplinary hospitals for active treatment were more familiar with the aforementioned plans than their colleagues from the university multidisciplinary hospitals. Conclusion. Insufficient awareness about human resources foreseen for disaster medical support negatively impacts the hospital surge capacity, leading to inadequate medical assistance in such cases. Hospital tactical disaster preparedness must be ameliorated by conducting a more rigorous training program among medical staff related to the planned hospital activities in case of disastrous events, especially for those working in emergency departments, intensive care units, and surgical departments. Aims The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened the necessity for empathy among medical staff; however, personnel have encountered certain challenges. Therefore, this study was undertaken to assess the positive and negative emotions and the perception of empathy among medical staff at hospitals affiliated with Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences, focusing on companions of patients who succumbed to COVID-19. Instrument & Methods This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study involved 402 companions or companions of patients who passed away due to COVID-19 between 2020 and 2022 in Shahrekord city. The study utilized the Jefferson Scale of Empathy and scales for positive and negative emotions. Data analysis was performed using an independent t-test, analysis of variance, and Scheffe’s test at a significance level of 0.05, employing SPSS 26 software. Findings A total of 402 companions or companions of deceased patients, comprising 64.9% men and 35.1% women, participated in the study, of whom 81.3% had a first-degree family relationship with the deceased. The average age of the participants was 45.01±10.11 years. The perception level of the doctors’ empathy averaged 12.77±7.27, which was low compared to the total score of 35. The levels of positive and negative emotions were 30.61±8.86 and 29.52±9.53, respectively, which were lower than the total score of 50 in each case. Background. Prevention through vaccinations in the group of healthcare professionals provides protection not only to this particular group but also to their environment. Students of the senior years of medical faculties are persons who will become healthcare professionals in the near future. Objectives. The aim of the study was to analyze the attitudes of senior students of medical faculties towards vaccinations, analyze factors that influence these attitudes, and to assess their knowledge and awareness of the safety, effectiveness, and necessity of vaccinations. Material and methods. The research tool was a self-made questionnaire. The study was conducted in a group of senior students of selected faculties at the Medical University of Warsaw. Results. It has been shown that the vast majority of those surveyed were convinced of the importance and effectiveness of preventive vaccinations. The study also proves that proper education about vaccinations can increase the number of healthcare professionals who decide to undergo mandatory and recommended vaccinations. Persons who have the knowledge about vaccinations and their health and social benefits are more likely to decide to get vaccinated. The study also showed that the knowledge gained during medical studies is the basis for building awareness of future medical staff in the field of preventive vaccinations. Conclusions. The results obtained in this study may be used to make a suggestion for medical universities and medical self-governing bodies on how to increase the vaccination rate among medical students and medical staff with mandatory vaccines and vaccines recommended for healthcare professionals. Objective: It was aimed to evaluate the phobia levels of COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease 2019) in medical staff working in the pandemic ward and intensive care unit and to examine its relationship with psychosocial impact levels. Material and Method: The study included 100 people working in the pandemic ward and intensive care units in the first year of the pandemic. Sociodemographic Data Form, COVID-19 Pandemic Psychosocial Impact Scale (CPPIS) and COVID-19 Phobia Scale (CPS) were administered to all participants. Results: The mean age of the participants was 32.5±7.4 years and 74% of them were women. Of these, 29% were doctors, 52% were nurses, 19% were allied health personnel and 66% worked in the service, 29% in the intensive care unit and 5% in both. There was very strong correlation between the CPS and the CPPIS total score, the death anxiety and anxious thoughts subscale scores. A strong positive correlation was found between the CPS and CPPIS subscales scores including close relationships, functionality and somatic symptoms. There was significant positive correlation between CPS and CPPIS scores and the duration of working in the pandemic service and intensive care unit. Conclusion: It was considered that as choranophobia increased among medical staffs working in the pandemic service, their psychosocial effects also increased. It has been thought that reducing the working time in the service and/or intensive care unit during the pandemic, performing shortterm rotations, might reduce the level of psychosocial impact and even be protective in terms of mental health of medical staff. Introduction: This research seeks to evaluate the occupational radiation dose, quantified as the whole-body Annual Mean Effective Dose (AMED), received by anesthesia personnel in interventional cardiology. Methods: Thermoluminescent dosimetry data was collected over five years (2019– 2023) for a total of 175 anesthesia staff. Technologists comprised approximately 72.4% of the participants (55% male and 45% female), while consultants accounted for 27.6% (70% male and 30% female). Statistical tests, including Independent Samples T-Test and One-Way ANOVA, compared AMED across genders, job titles, and years. Results: The study's findings on AMED across all staff from 2019 to 2023 showed marked variability in AMED. There was a significant rise in AMED from 0.72 mSv in 2019 to 0.92 mSv in 2020, then a decline to 0.82 mSv in 2021, with further decreases to 0.67 mSv in 2022 and finally to 0.65 mSv in 2023 (p < 0.001). The average AMED over the five-year span (2019– 2023) was 0.76 ± 0.4 mSv. In terms of gender, the overall AMED for males was 0.73 ± 0.36 mSv and for females 0.79 ± 0.45 mSv, showing no significant statistical difference (p = 0.272). Significant differences in exposure were observed between the technologists who experienced a higher overall AMED (0.8 ± 0.43 mSv) compared to consultants (0.63 ± 0.29 mSv, p = 0.008). Discussion: Despite these variations, AMED values remained lower than the annual occupational dose limit of 20 mSv, indicating generally low radiation exposure for anesthesia staff. Job dissatisfaction among medical staff slows down the recovery process, prolongs the patient's stay in the hospital, increases costs, and ultimately dissatisfaction among users of these services. One of the most important factors affecting job satisfaction is effective leadership. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide an effective leadership model to increase the job satisfaction of medical staff. The research is developmental in terms of purpose and descriptive-exploratory in terms of the type of method. The research strategy of data foundation theory is based on Glaser's apparent approach. Participants in the study included managers, supervisors, and supervisors of public and private hospitals, which was conducted with semistructured interviews with 13 people with theoretical saturation logic. The method of data analysis was open, selective, and theoretical coding. Findings indicate that 6 main categories: personal characteristics, interpersonal characteristics, follower growth, proper use of tools, organizational factors, and environmental factors are the components of effective leadership in selected hospitals of Iran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. Emotional burnout among physicians is a serious problem that can affect their health and the quality of medical care. This condition occurs when physicians experience excessive stress and pressure at work, often due to high demands and expectations imposed on them by patients. This study aims to assess the experience and factors associated with emotional burnout among health workers who deal with COVID-19-positive patients. The study population includes employees at the infectious diseases hospital and the inpatient clinical hospital examined using the Maslach Burnout Inventory. The prevalence of high emotional exhaustion among infectious diseases specialists and inpatient physicians was 51.2 ± 3.4 % and 43.3 ± 8.1 %, respectively. The prevalence of high depersonalization was 39.4 ± 7.9 % and 40.5 ± 8.1 %, respectively. Finally, the prevalence of reduced professional efficacy was 26.3 ± 7.1 % and 41.3 ± 8.3 %, respectively. The main burnout contributors were a heavy workload, a high risk of infection, the lack of protective equipment, insufficient social support, constant interaction with suffering patients, and work-life imbalance. To prevent burnout among health workers who deal with COVID-19-positive patients, it is best to create a working environment that is conducive to good physical and mental health, implement stress management courses, and provide employees with enough time for rest and recovery. These preventive measures will help to improve the quality of health care. The findings of the study can be utilized for the development of support programs for healthcare professionals, improvement of working conditions, and reduction of the risk of emotional burnout.

Abstract Background and Aims Medical staff have experienced anxiety, sleep disturbances, and suicide due to the COVID‐19 epidemic. Thus, this study examined the relationship between corona disease anxiety, sleep problems, and suicidal ideation in medical staff and how resiliency and cognitive flexibility mediate it. Methods This descriptive‐analytical cross‐sectional study examined medical staff. In 2022, participants were affiliated with Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, Iran educational and treatment centers. Sampling was done at primary COVID‐19 treatment centers. Data was collected using validated instruments. Ethics were observed during data collecting. Results Path analysis was employed to test hypotheses. Analysis showed significant positive relationships between Corona disease anxiety and sleep disturbances (p = 0.001, β = 0.438) and suicidal ideation (p = 0.001, β = 0.310). Conversely, negative and significant associations were identified between resiliency and cognitive flexibility with sleep disturbances and suicidal ideation. Conclusions The study illustrates how medical staff's psychological health is linked to COVID‐19. High Corona disease anxiety causes sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts. Resilience and cognitive flexibility modulated Corona disease anxiety, sleep problems, and suicidal thoughts. The comprehensive study focuses on medical staff mental health issues, suggesting targeted solutions.

Background. In the modern world, there are organizations in which a high level of task regulation is associated with the cost of erroneous actions and safety requirements. If the perceptions of work regulation, formed in a professional, do not coincide with the real requirements of the activity, it can lead to a decrease in the quality of work, as well as to the development of negative states. This necessitates the creation of a psychodiagnostic methodology to assess the subjective perception of the level of regulation in their professional activities by professionals. Objectives. The focus is on the development and approbation of the method for subjective assessment of the level of work tasks regulation. Study Participants. To reach the goal of the study, the sample included representatives of professions with different levels of work tasks regulation: military personnel serving under contract (n = 96), medical staff (n = 57), artists and musicians (n = 67). In total 220 people participated in the study. Methods. Based on the results of the analysis of existing studies in the field of regulation of professional activity, a technique for subjective assessment of the level of work tasks regulation was developed. The questionnaire included 18 items assessing the following scales: “Regulation” (9 items) and “Creativity” (9 items). Questionnaires with scales evaluating individual parameters of professional activity related to its regulation (the 16-scale semantic differential “My job” and the questionnaire for assessing subjectively important characteristics of the “Job Diagnostic Survey” activity) were selected as an external criterion for assessing the validity of the technique. The approbation allowed us to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the developed questionnaire. Results. The developed questionnaire for subjective assessment of the level of work tasks regulation is characterized by acceptable construct validity but insufficient reliability and consistency. Conclusions. The developed version of the questionnaire needs further improvement. However, it can already be considered as a situational questionnaire, the use of which is acceptable in combination with other methods.

Background Medical work is characterized as challenging, tasking and stressful. The effort-reward imbalance (ERI) model suggests that if the organizational environment contributes to ERI, it can negatively affect employees. The investigation of medical staff is an important part of the 6th National Health Services Survey in 2018. The good job satisfaction and work conditions of medical staff are important determinants of service utilization and health improvement for the population. The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction of medical staff is also an important goal of the new healthcare reform. Objective To explore the relationship between ERI and job stress, and provide a reference for reducing the job stress of medical staff. Methods The data for this study were obtained from the results of a sample survey of 4 156 healthcare workers in Beijing during the 6th National Health Services Statistics Survey in 2018. A predictive structural equation model of job stress was constructed and based on ERI questionnaire and job stress questionnaire. Relevant parameters were estimated by using the partial least squares to analyze the relationship between ERI and job stress. Results The valid records for participating in the ERI index calculation were 4 098. According to the ERI index calculation results, 1 333 (32.53%) healthcare workers were in a state of balance between effort and reward, and 2 765 (67.47%) health workers were in a state of imbalance between effort and reward. The results of factor analysis showed that 46.00% of the job stress experienced by medical staff in Beijing can be attributed to ERI model. Abstract Background Many studies have covered the prevalence of obesity in different populations. However, studies on the prevalence and predictors of obesity among medical staff are lacking. The aim of our study is to investigate the prevalence of obesity among medical staff and to identify the related predictors. Methods Using a snowballing recruitment strategy in the form of an electronic questionnaire, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 1201 medical staff from cooperative hospitals between January and March 2022. We designed a questionnaire to investigate the participants’ demographic, lifestyle, diet, physical activity, and work status. Results The overall prevalence of obesity was 8.5%, with males (13.7%) having a greater incidence than females (5.7%) (p 3/week (OR, 2.50; 95% CI 1.02–6.15, p = 0.046), and working a night shift > 1/week (OR, 2.17; 95% CI 1.02–4.61, p = 0.043) were independent predictive factors for obesity in men. For women, having midnight snack having midnight snack (OR, 2.93;95% CI 1.24–6.96, p = 0.015), good sleep quality (OR, 4.47; 95% CI 1.10–21.70, p = 0.038), and working a night shift > 1/week (OR, 3.62; 95% CI 1.73–7.57, p = 0.001) were independently associated with obesity. Conclusions Obesity presented a low prevalence among medical staff. Alcohol drinking, drinking sugar-sweetened beverages > 3/week, and night shift > 1/week predicted a higher risk of obesity in males. In females, having midnight snack, good sleep quality, and night shift > 1/week were independently associated with obesity. Level of evidence: V, descriptive study.
