Straipsnyje analizuojama Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės gyventojų XVI–XVIII a. aprangos istorija. LDK gyventojų apranga ilgai tyrinėta gana fragmentiškai. XIX–XX a. lietuvių liaudies drabužiai sistemingiau pradėti tyrinėti tarpukariu. Kur kas menkiau domėtasi LDK XVI–XVIII a. apranga, kuri buvo labai įvairi dėl socialinės visuomenės diferenciacijos ir etninių teritorijų skirtumų. Iš rašytinių šaltinių tik bendrais bruožais galima įsivaizduoti aprašomus apdarus. Nuodugniau juos pažinti įmanoma tik iš vaizdinės medžiagos. Iškilmėms skirta apranga vaizduota gausiuose tapybiniuose, grafiniuose ir skulptūriniuose portretuose (seniausi iš jų Lietuvoje atsirado XVI a. pirmoje pusėje). Juose portretuojamieji paprastai būdavo aprengiami madingais savo epochos drabužiais. Vertingos medžiagos teikia didžiausias Europoje vienos giminės grafinių portretų rinkinys „Icones familiae ducalis Radivilianae“. Drabužių pavyzdžių dar pasitaiko senuose kartografijos darbuose ir peizažuose. Aprangos kaitą lėmė įvairūs veiksniai. Ryšių su kitomis šalimis dėka Lietuvoje plito iš svetur perimtos drabužių formos. Apranga būdavo nusižiūrima iš priešų, bet ir atitekdavo nugalėtojams kaip karo grobis. Žinoma, kad moterims užsienio mada darė poveikį per valdovų rūmus. Aprangos kaitą skatindavo ir to meto didikų portretai, vaidindavę savotiškų madų žurnalų vaidmenį. Iš svetur atsigabenami portretai dar didesnį poveikį darė moterų aprangai. Panašų vaidmenį vaidino ir vadinamieji imaginaciniai atvaizdai. Šioje drabužių permainų epochoje formos nekintamumu pasižymėjo tik valstiečių drabužiai. The clothes of the people of Great Duchy of Lithuania have been investigated rather fragmentarily. Using the finds of postwar archaeological excavations there were recreated the clothes worn in the first millenium and at the beginning of the second milenium or even later. The researchers concentrated themselves on metal adornments and clothes trimmimgs. In the 19th–20th centuries Lithuanian clothes were investigated more systematically during the interwar period. The researchers were less interested in the clothes of the Great Duchy of Lithuania that varied due to the social differentiation and ethnic territorial differences. The written sources allow us to imagine the described clothes only in a general way, and the visual material helps us to find out about them more thoroughly. In the beginning of the 19th century the European fashion had great influence on Lithuanian local clothes. The traditional types of the clothes remained the longest in the villages of Lithuania as the living conditions there changed little even in the first half of the 20th century. When the way of life in towns and villages gradually became similar, in our times the more or less authentic old clothes can be seen on the stage worn by members of various folklore ensembles.

Didelė senosios dailės palikimo dalis pražuvo istorijos kataklizmuose: buvo sunaikinta per karus, konfiskuota ir išvežta į Rusijos muziejus po XIX a. sukilimų. Tokiomis sąlygomis pirmųjų mūsų mokslininkų dėmesys krypo į liaudies dailę. Sovietmečio Lietuvoje liaudies dailės tyrimai buvo toleruojami, bet itin nepalankiai žiūrėta į mėginimus tirti profesionaliąją praėjusių amžių dailę, nes apie ją buvo neįmanoma kalbėti be istorinio konteksto. Blogiausioje padėtyje atsidūrė XVII-XVIII a. skulptūra, kadangi beveik visi jos kūriniai Lietuvoje – sakralinės dailės objektai, apie kuriuos vengta kalbėti. Todėl autorė, aštuntajame devintajame dešimtmetyje rinkdama medžiagą tyrimams, buvo priversta ieškoti sričių, nesusijusių su Bažnyčia. Ligi šiolei tyrinėtojų beveik nedominusi originali dekoratyvinė drožyba liudija didelę meninę šios srities specialistų kultūrą ir praplečia žinias apie praėjusių epochų dailę. Šiame straipsnyje mėginama supažindinti visuomenę su nepagrįstai pamiršta XVII–XVIII a. medžio plastika, stilistinėmis jos srovėmis ir kūrinių kaita dviejų šimtmečių laikotarpiu. Nagrinėjamas laikotarpis sutampa su mūsų kraštui būdingo baroko stiliaus viešpatavimu dailėje, analizuojami skulptūrų pavyzdžiai iliustruoja įvairias jo raidos pakopas. Šalia vertingų profesionaliai drožtų skulptūrų apstu darbų, kuriuos kūrė menkiau įgudę vietos meistrai, apibendrinę ir supaprastinę sudėtingas, įmantrias formas. Šis kūrinių, sudarančių pereinamąją pakopą tarp profesionaliosios ir būdingos liaudies skulptūros, tyrimas leidžia geriau suprasti jų atsiradimo bei brendimo aplinkybes. The major part of the heritage of ancient art disappeared in historical cataclysms: destroyed in wars, confiscated and taken to Russian museums after uprising of the 19th c. Under such conditions, the attention of first Lithuanian scientists focused on art. During the Soviet period, research of Lithuanian folk art was tolerated, yet efforts to analyse professional art of previous centuries were not favourably accepted, since it was impossible to discuss it without historical context. Sculpture of the 17th–18th c. faced the worst situation, since almost all of its works in Lithuania are objects of sacral art, discussions about of which were avoided. Therefore, the author, while collecting material of the research in the ninth decade, was forced to seek for fields unrelated to the Church. The original decorative carving, which has not attracted researchers’ attention so far, demonstrated the high artistic culture of specialists of this field and enhanced the knowledge about the art of the previous epochs. This article attempts to familiarise the reader with wood sculptor of the 17th–18th c., its stylistic flows and works of two decades’ period. The analysed period coincides with the prevalence of the Baroque style typical to our land in art, the analysed samples of sculpture illustrate various stages of its development. Along with valuable professionally carved sculptures, there is a vast number of works created by less skilled craftsmen. The research of these works, which create a bridge between professional and folk sculpture, allows better perceiving the circumstances of their emergence and maturity.

Straipsnyje apžvelgiamos šiuo metu Lietuvoje ar už jos ribų esančios gotikinės skulptūros, sietinos su Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės meno paveldu. Jos susisteminamos pagal sukūrimo laiką, ikonografiją ir stiliaus bruožus. Daugelis skulptūrų plačiau aptariamos pirmą kartą. Article reviews Gothic sculptures that relate to the artistic heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and all of the sculptures mentioned within the article are currently in Lithuania or behind its borders. Attention is drawn to the fact that some Gothic works of art may have appeared later in the churches of the GDL, after their delivery from Prussia in the first half of the 15th century. The author ascribes the following works of art of the soft Gothic style: the Madonna of Laukžemė, the Madonna of the Church of Rose (presently in Belarus), as dating from the 19th century and being the work of Polish authors. He also includes in this list the Pieta of the Church of Plateliai, which was attached to the altar of processions in 1903. The oldest known Crucified Christ that relates to the artistic culture of GDL was created around 1400 and is kept in the Church of Semiatyčiai in Palenkė. The best examples of the broken style that spread in the early 16th century are: St. John the Baptist from Kėdainiai Regional Museum, the Madonna of Veliuona and the Madonna with a Pear, both kept in the National Art Museum of M. K. Čiurlionis. The Crucified Christ from the Church of Bagaslaviškis might once have decorated Vilnius Cathedral, as it belongs to this same stream of art and has particular value. The Crucified Christ of the Veiveriai Church, which dates back to the third decade of the 16th century, was transferred to the Judicial Church in Eastern Prussia. The Crucified Christ of Vilnius Bernardine Church might have been created at the same time. The sculptures which appeared at the end of the first quarter of the 16th century, assumed a quieter shape. The rendering of complex drapery was eschewed in favor of a few folds that break sharply across the sculptures surface. New Renaissance features blend with old traditions in the sitting Madonna sculpture of the Alksnėnai Church, which was probably brought from Prussia during the post-Reformation. In addition to the incidence of sculpture in the round, the occasion of relief sculptures also spread during the Gothic period. The relief of the Čekiškė Church depicting the Descent from the Cross was carved masterfully. The works discussed belong to the hands of professional artists of varying levels of skill. However, in Lithuania less professional local masters also worked. Some of their sculptures were installed, for example, the Saint of the Church of Rageliai, which is considered to be the work of a folk carver of the 19th century.
