Ad Anima embarks on its maiden voyage at a unique time in medical history. In the shadow of a global pandemic, medicine welcomes distance in a manner and to a degree that it never has before. From routine healthcare visits conducted with miles between patients to online lectures leaving classrooms empty and beyond, space is an evolving aspect of our work and lives.We founded Ad Anima because we wanted to explore the spaces we don’t always get to see ourselves. We wanted to give healthcare practitioners and trainees the opportunity to tell the stories that aren’t always told. We wanted to listen, and we weren’t disappointed.Many more stories than we could put on paper landed before our eyes,written by dedicated physicians, nurses, medical trainees, and others from across the nation. This volume holds just four of these stories which moved us: we could not be more excited to share them with you.I could not have anticipated the immense engagement that followed my proposal for Ad Anima just over a year ago. It is the first free-to-access, free-to-publish, nonfiction literary medical journal affiliated with a university. I merely assumed that supply was low because demand was low. This article deals with some of the cultural publications of the University of Salamanca environment edited during the early post-war period, in which Antonio Tovar (rector of the university between 1951 and 1956) played a leading role. The recovery of a part of the Generation of '98, that had been condemned to ostracism, participated in the awakening of some student community members. We will understand the role that magazines Cátedra (1942-1945), Lazarillo (1943-1944) and Trabajos y Días (1946-1951) had in this movement through a review of the primary sources (the magazines) and cultural studies of the period. The Italian-made comics series W.I.T.C.H. and the homonymous magazine enjoyed global success. The series tells the story of five girls who discover they have magical powers and are called on to save the universe from evil forces. I investigate this transnational and transmedia series and explore how girls' empowerment is pursued through the trope of the teenage witch in the comics' storyline, revealing the hybridization of manga, European, and Disney graphic styles and themes, and in the magazine itself where the editors use techniques of engagement with readers (surveys and quizzes, problem pages and letters from readers, DIY pieces, and diary-like pages). This analysis involves scholarship on Girlhood and Cultural Studies and serves as a springboard for further investigation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ÖZ: Dergi hem geleneksel hem de yeni medya türleri arasında yer alan, yazılı olarak basıldığı gibi dijital ortamlarda da okuyucularıyla buluşan kitle iletişim aracıdır. Temel olarak gazetelerle aynı işleve sahip olan dergilerin yayıncılığı, teknolojinin ilerlemesiyle birlikte dijitalleşme yoluna girse de günümüzde önemini halen korumaktadır. Bu araştırma dergicilik konulu akademik çalışmaların bibliyometrik profilini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma tarama modelinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle WoS veri tabanı seçilmiştir. WoS veri tabanında “topic” bölümüne “magazine publishing” yazılarak tarama yapılmıştır. 98 akademik çalışmaya erişim sağlanmıştır. Birçok parametre açısından elde edilen veriler incelenmiş, içerik analizi ve bibliyometrik analize tabi tutulmuştur. İlk çalışma 1980 yılında makale türünde ve en güncel çalışma ise 2024 yılında makale türünde ele alınmıştır. En fazla çalışma 2014 yılında yazılmıştır. 2005 yılından itibaren düzenli olarak akademik çalışmaların yazıldığı görülmüştür. En fazla atıf alan eser 2008 yılında yazılmış ve 110 atıf almıştır. Çalışmalar yoğunlukla makale türünde ve SSCI indeksinde kaleme alınmıştır. WoS kategorilerine göre en fazla iletişim kategorisinde ele alınan çalışmalar çok büyük oranda İngilizce yazılmıştır. En verimli ülke olarak Amerika yer almıştır. Bu sıralamayı İngiltere, Finlandiya, Avustralya, Yeni Zelanda ve Türkiye takip etmiştir. Türkiye’den 4 çalışmanın yazıldığı görülmüştür. Türkçe kaleme alınan tek bir çalışma olduğu ve 2018 yılında yazıldığı belirlenmiştir. Kurumların, ülkelerin ve de yazarların ortak yazarlık analizleri yapılmıştır. Anahtar kelimelerin birlikte bulunma sıklığına bakıldığında; bağlantı gücü en yüksek anahtar kelimelerin “magazines” ile “magazine publishing” olduğu görülmüştür. Genel olarak ele alındığında, dergicilik konusunda birçok ülke ortak çalışma yapsa da bu konuda ilk çalışmaya çok geç başlandığı, daha fazla çalışma yapılarak konunun önemine vurgu yapılması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır. ABSTRACT: Magazine is a mass communication tool that is among both traditional and new media types and meets its readers in print as well as in digital platforms. Publishing of magazines, which basically have the same function as newspapers, still maintains its importance today, even though it has entered the path of digitalization with the advancement of technology. This study was conducted to determine the bibliometric profile of academic studies on magazine publishing. The research was conducted using survey model. WoS database was selected by purposive sampling method. WoS database was searched by typing “magazine publishing” in the “topic” section. Access to 98 academic studies was accessed. The data, which consist of many parameters, were analyzed, and put through content analysis and bibliometric analysis. The first study was published in the form of an article in 1980 and the most recent study was published in the form of an article in 2024. The most studies were written in 2014. It has been observed that since 2005 academic studies have been written regularly. The most cited work was written in 2008 and received 110 citations. The studies were mostly written in the article type and have SSCI index. According to WoS categories, most of the studies were in the communication category, and were written in English language. America was ranked top as the most productive country. This ranking was followed by England, Finland, Australia, New Zealand and Türkiye. It has seen that four studies were written from Türkiye. It was determined that there was only one study written in Turkish and it was written in 2018. Co-authorship analysis of institutions, countries and authors was conducted. When the frequency of co-occurrence of keywords were analyzed, the keywords with the highest link strength were “magazines” and “magazine publishing”. Overall, it has been concluded that although many countries carry out joint work on magazine publishing, the first study on this subject was started very late and the importance of the subject should be emphasized by further studies.

Soviet cinema magazines covers played a crucial role in shaping the cinematic star system of the Soviet Union, yet their significance has been largely overlooked in academic discussions. This article examines the covers of two periodicals, Ekrano naujienos (News of the Screen) and Kinas (Cinema), published in Soviet Lithuania from 1955 to 1986, focusing specifically on covers featuring a single face. The analysis situates these covers within the broader context of the close-up of the face, which held a prominent position in Soviet cinema culture. Additionally, the article explores the unique context of eroticism associated with the face in Soviet cinema criticism.

The presence and capabilities of religious groups in Turkey, particularly in terms of their propaganda power, is an undeniable reality. These groups have a well-established institutional infrastructure in magazine publishing, and the magazine industry has successfully transitioned into the digital realm. However, there is a lack of sufficient studies in the literature concerning the role of Islamist magazines in Turkey in addressing Islamophobia on a global scale. Religious groups in Turkey have historically and culturally established strong ties with society, particularly in utilizing magazines as a tool for propaganda. In this context, the study examines the theme of Islamophobia, which has become increasingly widespread globally, especially in Europe and the United States, in the magazines published by religious groups in Turkey. Using a qualitative methodology, the article analyzes the publications of the five major religious groups in Turkey, focusing on the concept of Islamophobia. The data collected has been examined through semiotic analysis and content analysis techniques. The findings of the study reveal that religious groups exhibit shortcomings in publishing articles that generate counterarguments to Islamophobia and in utilizing global language in their magazine publications. It is believed that this study will contribute to future research on the relationship between religious groups, Islamophobia, propaganda, and digital communication.

On 20th April 1949, «Repertorio» began its publications. The magazine, edited by Umberto Colombini, not only published the texts of radio dramas broadcast by Rai, but also featured a wealth of critical essays questioning the artistic and expressive potential of the new mass medium. Among the protagonists of the Rai radio season examined were names that were already famous, such as Diego Fabbri, or that were to become so shortly afterwards, such as Alberto Perrini, the young winner of the Stresa Prize for radio playwrights, sponsored by «Repertorio». Among the columns was an enquiry, Will television cancel radio theatre?, in which the answers of various ‘insiders’ are recorded. A list of the scripts of works broadcast on the radio published by the periodical is presented in the Appendix.

This article focuses on Elpis Kesaratsian (1830–1913), the first Armenian female editor who founded and published the Guitar magazine (1861–63) but has been neglected in the field of Armenian history and culture studies for more than 160 years. This study sheds light on the geopolitical and historical contexts in Constantinople in the second half of the nineteenth century, the imperial censorship, the criticism regarding the magazine Guitar, the unbreakable will that the first Armenian female editor, who also acted as a writer, journalist, and translator, Elpis Kesaratsian was guided by throughout her life as a representative of a Christian national minority living in the nineteenth century Ottoman Empire. The many roles of Elpis Kesaratsian, including those of woman-editor, woman-publicist, woman-publisher, woman-book author, woman-translator, woman-lead nurse, woman-teacher that she fulfilled under the oppression and censorship of the Ottoman Empire, were revealed through investigative, biographical and comparative analyses. In early 20th-century Korea, Buddhist magazines emerged as vital extra-canonical sources, offering a modern platform that complemented traditional Buddhist texts. These publications navigated the complexities between succeeding Buddhist tradition and embracing modernity, addressing the historical challenges of the 19th century while also contributing to the preservation of national sovereignty and the formation of a modern Korean Buddhist identity. Serving as a forum for scholarly works on Buddhist translation, doctrine, and history, as well as literature, education, and propagation, these magazines became central to both intellectual and spiritual discourse. Of the more than 30 periodicals published during the Japanese occupation, Bulgyo stood out as the longest-running and most influential magazine, with its complete archive preserved. Bulgyo brought together various members of the Buddhist community as both contributors and readers, broadening the scope of Buddhism to include a diverse range of topics such as academia, literature, art, women, and children. This article explores the role and significance of Korean Buddhist magazines during the Japanese colonial period, with a particular focus on Bulgyo, and examines how the publication helped shape Buddhist modernity within Korea's complex political and religious landscape. In the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th, illustrated magazines made political caricatures an effective instrument in US presidential campaigns and elections, using images easily identifiable by the public inspired by the Bible, Literature, Universal History, Mythology and Art. The article analyzes the transition of magazines published in Lithuania in 2021 to the digital space. The aim is to reveal the aspects of magazine digitization in Lithuania and investigate the percentage of magazines which already have digital versions, which magazines have become digital, and what determines the digitization of magazines. It has been established that only a third of magazines have digital versions in today’s Lithuania. The digitization of magazines is driven by the desire of publishers to give readers access to the magazine through a broader range of channels along with the ability to reach a more significant flow of readers. An important aspect that promotes the digitization of magazines is the demand from various sponsoring organizations to increase access forms. Publishers choose magazine hosting platforms and formats to keep the magazine hosting process straightforward and cost-efficient. It has been investigated that the taxation of the magazine’s digital version in Lithuania is an infrequent phenomenon. An issuehas been determined that publishers rarely formalize digital versions by assigning them separate ISSNs. The reason is the ignorance of the requirement that the printed and digital versions of the same journal must have separate ISSNs. Currently, the digitization of magazines is still evolving: publishers are in no hurry to get acquainted with the requirements for publishing digital magazines, digital versions of magazines are generally basic, and there is a lack of high-quality, interactive, attractive arrangements of digital magazines.

In 1955, at the initiative of Françoise Giroud, L’Express offered its readers a curious competition. The aim was to find which of the following writers, François Mauriac, Françoise Sagan, André Maurois, Louise de Vilmorin, Roger Nimier, Paul Vialar, Henri Troyat and Béatrix Beck, had respectively written the various chapters of a detective novel, De qui est-ce? produced for the occasion. It turns out that, while this novel is apparently part of a long media genealogy that anchors it in the 19th century and in an elitist literary culture, it above all reveals L'Express's conversion to a commercial conception of literary value exemplified by the notion of the best seller. Logically, this move was accompanied by the weekly's conversion to the form of the newsmagazine, for which the novel De qui est-ce? was a significant announcement of the recipe: events, illustration, and editorialization.

This article aims to outline ways of developing the historical study of the advertising content of magazines. Firstly, a review of the literature on the subject will provide a theoretical framework for this project, at the crossroads of the history of advertising, periodical studies and visual studies. Such an undertaking invites us to take into account both the commercial dimensions of advertisements and their aesthetic and material dimensions, including periodicity and repetitiveness. Given these specific features, and the massive quantity of advertisements available, the creation of a study corpus requires careful consideration. Several proposals and working hypotheses are reviewed here, with no claim to exhaustiveness. The final section looks at the methods best suited to the examination of these objects, and attempts to link content analysis with the material history of magazine advertisements.

This article examines the discourse on Islam found in articles published in Basis from 1998 to 2000. Basis is a cultural magazine founded in Yogyakarta by members of the Society of Jesus (SJ) in 1951. Since 1998, Basis has regularly featured writings on Islamic themes contributed by both Muslim and non-Muslim intellectuals. This research aims to understand why Basis, with its Catholic missionary vision and spirit, embraced Islamic themes during the 1998–2000 period and to what extent these Islamic and Islamic-themed articles reflect the journal's mission of interreligious dialogue in response to the "cultural freedom" of the Reform Era. A historical methodology using text analysis techniques was employed for this research. Primary sources included articles with Islamic themes published in Basis between 1998 and the early 2000s, as well as interview data. The findings indicate that following the fall of the New Order regime in 1998, Indonesia experienced "cultural freedom," including increased freedom of expression, which significantly influenced the media landscape. Basis' inclusion of articles with Islamic themes was a response to this "cultural freedom" in the contemporary context. The Islamic discourse presented in Basis primarily focused on contextual issues related to religious polarization and conflicts in Indonesia at the dawn of the Reform Era, including discussions on pluralism and the significance of interreligious dialogue within the framework of the nation-state. The Islamic discourse in Basis demonstrated a fluid nature, suggesting coexistence and close interaction among adherents of various value systems and worldviews.

The article is included in the range of works devoted to the study of genre characteristics of texts and genre forms. The relevance of the study is determined by the specific nature of speech genres and their variability. The purpose of the work is to research the magazine “Tram” as a speech genre and its genre forms. The material for the study was the journal issues published between 1990 and 1995. The article tries to consider the relationship between the concepts of “genre” and “genre form”. The authors adhere to the point of view that a “genre form” is a genre that is part of the structure of another, more complex genre. One of the genre characteristics of the magazine “Tram” and its constituent genre forms is creolization/polycode, a combination of verbal and paraverbal components. On the one hand, the interaction of these elements turns out to be a feature of all magazines for children and teenagers. On the other hand, drawings, sometimes their predominance over the verbal text, their location on the page, color, variety of fonts distinguish the analyzed magazine from others. The magazine “Tram” distinguishes genre forms, which are divided into two groups – traditional and new ones. The analysis shows that traditional genre forms are stories, comics, riddles, fairy tales (folk, author’s, fantasy ones), works of young readers, instructions; new genre forms include a conversation with the reader, the genre of limericks, words-epigraphs, fairy tales, messages about Orthodox holidays, cooking recipes (“gastronomic pages”). The authors of the article considers “traditionality” to be conditional, because while maintaining the genre form, the content of the texts presented in the magazine differs from the texts of the same genre forms from other children’s magazines: the basis of the riddle is not comparison or metaphor and epithet, but irony; the stories are constructed as a dialogue that continues from issue to issue, or they are preceded by comments from the compilers regarding the author or the content of the work; there appear intertextual tales, in the creation of which readers take part.

En Chile, la década del Centenario de la República presentó una preocupación por la corporalidad y su perfeccionamiento. El bienestar nacional se vio representado en los cuerpos, que podían mejorar por medio del ejercicio físico. En este ámbito, el rol de la mujer fue fundamental. Para ellas se estableció el ejercicio físico desde tres perspectivas: la “mujer madre”, en su relación al trabajo doméstico y la maternidad; la “mujer moderna”, que se hace parte de actividades masculinizadas en el espacio público, como el deporte; y la “mujer bella” preocupada del “mejoramiento” de su aspecto, desde una noción moderna de la belleza. Uno de los vehículos de difusión de estas ideas fue por medio del género magazine, en revistas orientadas a un público femenino, como Familia, que presentó múltiples discursos en torno al ideal corporal de la mujer. El trabajo analiza los discursos sobre el ejercicio físico que debe, o no, hacer el cuerpo femenino, expresado en artículos e imágenes de la revista Familia entre 1910 y 1915. Para ello, se discute tanto el contenido visual, fotografías e ilustraciones, como el material escrito, artículos y titulares.

This paper addresses the optimization of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) working time through the strategic positioning and grouping of cutting tools. Our analysis primarily focused on evaluating the previous arrangement of tools in the magazine and exploring the potential for repositioning them to enhance CNC operational efficiency. The work methodology is based on the collection of direct data from CNC as well as through CAD/CAM simulations. The collected data are analyzed with the Python programming language, which is one of the most used and efficient languages now. By grouping the tools according to the same function, tools were repositioned next to each other, which we obtained. After collecting the data and processing them in the Python programming language, we made a visualization of the data. Working time is reduced from 27.44 s to 26.46 s and results are analyzed in the Python Programming language. The working time is reduced by 0.98 s, which is approximately a 3.57% reduction in the working time. This indicates a significant improvement in efficiency due to the optimization of the cutting tool positions in the magazine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AbstractThis project responds to calls by scholars to interrogate how gender was depicted on the early commercial internet. More broadly, it examines how the idea of “users” was and is constructed in different times and places. Specifically, it examines images—advertisements, photos, and other illustrations—and how they depicted gender norms and user behaviors on the internet—in their “idealized” forms. Our study looks at how magazines, such as Internet World and Yahoo! Internet Life shaped internet culture from the beginning. They differed from webzines in their crossover appeal to women, men, power users, and casual fans. We utilize a close reading of these primary sources and deploy a feminist historical approach to help understand how these images were constructed and received. In this, we are inspired by Megan Sapnar Ankerson and Jesse Lingel, with their research on the early civilian internet. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In April 1921, Albert Curtis Brown, who was to develop a substantial international literary agency, took over as Lawrence’s literary agent in England. His best-known employee was Laurence Pollinger, who by April 1927 had taken over much of the “book side” of Lawrence’s work. However, although royalties from Lawrence’s novels were overall the greater part of his increasing income, particularly after Thomas Seltzer and his wife Adele expanded his sales in the USA, income from periodicals was also important for a writer such as Lawrence who wrote so much short fiction. The payments received were significant relative to the length of what was published, so income was easier to come by. With assistance from Curtis Brown’s Magazine Department manager, Nancy Pearn, who worked with Lawrence from 1924 on developing in his home country of England, his income from periodicals became substantial too.This essay will examine the history of Lawrence’s developing income from periodicals in England (not just from the shorter fiction published in it, but also from his shorter non-fiction, in particular the results of his later interest in journalism, sometimes specifically tailored to readers in his homeland), the extent of Nancy Pearn’s role in that, and her relationship with Lawrence. Not infrequently, Lawrence had difficulties with his publishers and literary agents, but his relationship with her was an unusually good one, one of mutual respect, which as this first detailed study will show is reflected in their correspondence. For example, he recommended her to Catherine Carswell, describing her as a “quite golden” “magazine girl” (5L 459). Almost uniquely for someone in her position, he also inscribed a copy of one of his books to her, the Secker first English edition of Sea and Sardinia (1921).

This article uses automated digital corpus research methods to analyze visual representations of animals in magazines from the 1950s. Using animal images as a case study, it examines the impact of editorial lines on the thematic and iconographic choices made by four French magazines in 1957.

The article presents an analysis of the artistic and graphic design of the only satirical and caricature magazine of printing and bookbinding workers «Balda» published in Russia. As result of the all the published issues, the reader’s address of the magazine was identified, as well as its technical characteristics were determined. After studying all three issues of the magazine, it was revealed how much textual information was printed, how much textual information was accompanied by drawings and how many percent of the magazine contained drawings as independent material. The features of graphic and compositional techniques used in the design of the magazine are analyzed. The article identifies the main features of the title complex “Baldy”, describes the fonts used. Fonts definitely have which group they belong to, font size, font type, density, saturation. The graphic and decorative elements used in the design of the magazine are described, with the help of which its original and memorable style is formed. Only three issues of «Balda» magazine were published: on January 1, 1907 – No. 1, on January 9, 1907 – No. 2, on January 16, 1907 – No. 3. Some of the magazine’s circulations were confiscated. Despite the fact, that the arrest of the magazine was later lifted, the editorial board decided to close the magazine «Balda» by starting to publish the satirical, humorous and caricature magazine of the workers of the printing and bookbinding business «Topor». There were two numbers that were confiscated later too. The purpose of the study is to identify trends in the artistic and graphic concept of specialized magazines in order to develop quality criteria for relevant publications. The method and methodology of the work: the basis of the research is the principle of a systematic approach, as well as matrix, analytical, thematic and typographic methods. The practical significance of this work lies in the possibility of using the data obtained when creating new journals, as well as for adapting existing ones to modern requirements. In pre-revolutionary Russia, many specialized magazines were published intended for workers in the printing industry and bookbinding but only «Balda» and «Topor» magazines remain the only humorous, satirical and caricature magazines, which makes them a unique source of both historical, cultural and artistic information.

Bu çalışma, YouTube çocuk kanallarında, anne ve baba rollerinin eğlence ve tüketim olgularının etkisiyle beraber nasıl birer magazinsel eyleme dönüştüğünü ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada yeni medya ile ilgili metinler arası okuma yapılarak, magazinleşme ve eğlence kültürü ile yeni medya ilişkisini çözümlemek amacıyla literatür taraması yapılmıştır. İkinci aşamada kotalı örneklem alma tekniği ile seçilmiş olan YouTube çocuk kanallarındaki içerikler (Like Nastya TR, Aslıyarence ve Korayzeynep) önce nicel, ardından nitel içerik analizine (göstergebilim) tabi tutulmuştur. Videolar, IBM SPSS 22 programı kullanılarak tablolaştırılmıştır. Ardından seçilen videolar nitel içerik analizi (göstergebilim) yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın üçüncü aşamasında ise 13 yaş altında çocuğu bulunan 15 ebeveyn ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiş ve bu görüşmeler betimsel analiz tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda YouTube çocuk kanalları kullanıcısı ebeveynlerin eğlence ve tüketim odaklı magazinsel eylemde bulundukları gözlemlenmiştir. Ebeveynlerle gerçekleşen görüşmelerden oluşan izlenim sonrası ise izleyici konumunda bulunan çocuklarının olumsuz etkilendiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

In the modern world with an ever-increasing interest in the development of artistic culture, many new works of literature and art appear. In this context the study of the history of certain aspects of the Dagestan culture (literature and art, etc.) is relevant today and its studying should be carried out in close connection with the development of the Dagestan multinational culture as a whole. In this regard, the problem of women’s literature and the «female image» in literature is also relevant.The article considers some aspects of women’s literary creativity, the place of female literature and an «image of a woman» in Dagestan literature in 1950s, and gender difference in covering female issues. For this purpose, special monographic studies and media materials have been used.In conclusion, the image of a positive hero has been noted as one of the main themes in Dagestan literature in the post-war period and 1950s. The issue of the Great Patriotic War was too close and heavy; it was also reflected in the works of women poets. Dagestan poets and writers paid special attention to highlighting the heavy fate of mountain women who actively fought for their free future and the desire to actively participate in the social, political and cultural life of the Republic.

This paper examines representations of Greece featured in two articles published in 1908 in the Wide World Magazine, a British illustrated travel magazine. By focusing on photographs and illustrations in relation to text, the paper suggests that the articles demonstrate an effort to shift the attention from Greece's classical past to modern Greece and its subjects. Compared to earlier travel accounts, archaeological sites are no longer in the spotlight, and when depicted, they are not devoid of human presence. Moreover, both articles attribute a novel meaning to the experience of the sublime as directly related to interaction with the locals. Blurring the line between fact and fiction, the two authors are preoccupied more with the Self rather than the Other, which can be attributed to the complex British-Greek political relations. Ultimately, the travellers' dark visits seem to have a direct involvement in the cultural and political developments of modern Greece. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The spread of the Internet has radically affected the world of media. As the main source of information in the 21st century, it inevitably became the new home of the media. This transition was not just a copy-paste of existing content: instead, the media had to change their content during this transformation. This analysis will identify these changes and observe what is being offered to audiences by online magazines. It will explore how the content of online magazines differs from what was offered to an audience in the 20th century. The object of analysis is the Kosovarja magazine, which has been published since 1971. This magazine is now only available online and the package of the Python programming language was used to extract the data necessary for this activity. In addition, the magazine Hylli i Dritës is used as a case study to explore the reasons why some magazines have not managed to be reproduced in the online market. Publishing is a significant part of the cultural, creative, and economic sectors. Its research, assessment, and forecasting require grounded, reliable, accurate, consistent, and comparable statistical data. Considering the lack of research in periodicals statistics and the relevance of publishing statistics, as well as the fact that in the Baltic countries, publishing statistics data are collected by institutions at the same level, the problem arises whether the national libraries' applied foundational recommendations and legal documents, as well as data collection methodology, can ensure data validity, reliability, comprehensiveness, and comparability. This article aims to examine and compare the data collection practices of periodical statistics in the Baltic States. The research object includes the legal foundation of publishing statistics in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, as well as the 2022 publishing statistics resources and official statistics data collections. UNESCO recommendations and International Organization for Standardization standards can be considered guidelines for such data collection and accounting. The legal foundation of publishing statistics consists of legal deposit laws, which must ensure the sources of statistical data. Even though publishing statistics data are collected by national libraries and the source of statistical data in all countries is legal deposits, the statistical data collections are not identical. Countries choose which data to collect, what criteria to apply, and in what form to present them. It is important to emphasize that data on the publishing industry are not presented in statistical collections, although their collection guidelines and presentation importance are highlighted in international recommendations and normative documents. Statistical data on electronic periodicals are provided only by Estonia. National libraries in the Baltic States are official statistics compilers, so summarized publishing statistics data are provided to national statistics institutions, opening new technological possibilities for data analysis and integration of new data. The collections of statistical data on newspapers and magazines can only be compared according to a few main criteria, as countries have chosen different statistical data presentation features, the main ones being the varying categorization and periodicity characteristics of newspapers and magazines. Information is becoming ephemeral, shared, sometimes inaccurate, incorrect and fragmented, and knowledge is shifting, evolving and sometimes uncertain. However, medical journals are still a vital channel for the transmission, validation and discussion of medical knowledge. They are an essential pillar of the medical community, contributing to the continuous improvement of healthcare and scientific progress in the medical field. Medical journals are both drivers and vehicles for medical innovation. They must, however, evolve and adapt to changes in society, and reinvent themselves in the light of medical issues, those of healthcare professionals and patients, and even new medical trends and themes such as data, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, transhumanism and unique health. This article constitutes a first attempt to approach the history of the establishment and activity of the Association of Teachers from the county and municipality of Bălți between the two world wars, through the prism of the periodical publications that it initiated, edited and promoted in those years – Association Bulletin and Magazine. Aspects regarding the history of the Association in the interwar period and its main concerns are dealt with: improving the material base of education within the county, modernizing the teaching process, defending and promoting the demands and professional rights of the teaching staff, the activity of the Teachers’ Bank from Bălți County, the organization of circles and cultural homes etc. The activity of the Association of Teachers from the city and county of Bălți between the two world wars fully confirms the truth expressed even in those years, that the fair and land of Bălți was not only an important economic and commercial center of Bessarabia, but also a strong cultural center.

Knowledge of the contributing factors of infertility is essential to optimizing the reproductive health of the population. Magazines are a major source of informational health messages; this study quantitatively and inductively examined the information in Japanese fertility-related magazine articles on modifiable lifestyle and risk factors associated with fertility. We conducted a content analysis in two major fertility-related magazines published between 2014 and 2020 that individuals attempting to conceive were likely to read. We also identified evidence-based lifestyle factors associated with reduced fertility after reviewing the scientific literature. In total, 76 lifestyle factors were mentioned in the magazine articles. A total of 9 of these 10 evidence-based lifestyle risk factors were among the 20 factors most frequently mentioned. Thus, the evidence-based lifestyle factors were well-discussed, but the articles focused heavily on nutritional factors. Health check-ups were not covered as extensively as nutrition and diet, although physical examination can uncover physiological causes of infertility. Some lifestyle factors in the articles had not been sufficiently scientifically examined. Too many recommendations were given in the magazine articles. This may induce a feeling of being overwhelmed in readers. The publishers of magazines should provide balanced information, consider prioritizing lifestyle factors by conclusive scientific evidence, and disseminate accurate information.

Magazines have been doing the work of bringing the happenings in the society to the people. In the Tamil Magazine World one of the oldest magazines is “Matar Marumanam”. It is known that “Matar Marumanam” Magazine has exposed the injustices happening in Tamil society, especially the injustices happening to widows who have lost their husbands from the past to the present times it hoisted its articles. The magazine is radical and fought for the liberation of the suppressed women in patriarchal domination and hegemony. This article is based on a feminist critique of oppression employed on exposed women in “Mathar Marumanam” magazine. Through this article, we can know that women who have lost their husbands have been denied remarriage, young girls who have not reached puberty are married to older men and they reach the stage of widowhood in their childhood. Through this article, we can learn that if young widowed women fall in love with another man or if they want to remarry the man they loved, the patriarchal society not only prohibits it but also kills or to make them to commit suicide.

This paper addresses the optimization of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) working time through the strategic positioning and grouping of cutting tools. Our analysis primarily focused on evaluating the previous arrangement of tools in the magazine and exploring the potential for repositioning them to enhance CNC operational efficiency. The work methodology is based on the collection of direct data from CNC as well as through CAD/CAM simulations. The collected data are analyzed with the Python programming language, which is one of the most used and efficient languages now. By grouping the tools according to the same function, tools were repositioned next to each other, which we obtained. After collecting the data and processing them in the Python programming language, we made a visualization of the data. Working time is reduced from 27.44 s to 26.46 s and results are analyzed in the Python Programming language. The working time is reduced by 0.98 s, which is approximately a 3.57% reduction in the working time. This indicates a significant improvement in efficiency due to the optimization of the cutting tool positions in the magazine.

This article asks a relatively naïve question: how can we build a coherent corpus of video game critics to analyze their formal components? We first present some journalistic texts related to Super Castlevania IV (in printed specialized press and websites). The variety of texts we encountered on this game showcases the identification problem relative to video game criticism. To help us circumscribe video game criticism (in regard to the other journalistic texts), we did a review of academic texts. More specifically, we selected articles and books that study video game reviews, tests, or critics. After this review, we suggest a model which could help us define the frontiers of critics.

In this short piece, I want to reflect on the status, relevance and future of the academic journal. They emerged at a point when middle class European men were beginning to produce a cumulative body of knowledge using paper technologies, editorial boards and professional associations to legitimate their discoveries. Three hundred years later, the global university system, the financial interests of global knowledge corporations, and the occupational interests of university workers has supported a huge explosion of journals as markers of status, providers of data about who writes and who cites, and profitable ways of extracting value from university library budgets. This journal, though it has published much which is critical about such a system, is entirely parasitic on this set of financial and occupational interests. As Organization enters its fourth decade, might it be possible to be clearer concerning what services it provides and for who? If we think of it, as my mother-in-law once presciently suggested, as a magazine, can we be more explicit about what stories and features we are selling, and who our readers are? In the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, innovations were made in the fields of education and human rights, especially in the military field. In this period, Islamist journals were published along with economic, industrial and literary journals. Among these journals, Sırât-ı müstakîm/Sebîlü'r-reşâd was one of the most influential publications because it prioritized and defended religious principles in social life. The magazine not only kept its finger on the pulse of the society with the articles it published, but also tried to reshape the society on the axis of religious values. The fact that it included prominent writers of the period such as Mehmet Akif, Mehmed Kâmil Miras, Eşref Edip, Abdülaziz Çâvîş Babanzâde Ahmed Naim, among others, ensured its adoption by the public. Sırât-ı müstakîm/Sebîlü'r-reşâd revealed the founding philosophy of the magazine by announcing that it would try to revive the Qur'anic exegesis and the sciences of the Qur'an. The journal did not only publish in the religious field, but also included articles in fields such as philosophy, literature and law. According to the letters received and published in the journal, it was followed by a wide readership both at home and abroad. The articles in the journal were written seriously by experts in their fields in accordance with the scholarly notion of the period. The articles on the history of the Qur'an and Qiraat were written with the same seriousness. The history of the Qur'an has an important position among the studies aimed at fully understanding the will of Allah and the sciences created in this direction. The subjects of Qur'anic History are analyzed under three main headings. The first is the revelation of the Qur'an to the Prophet from the beginning to the end of revelation. In this section, the nature of revelation, prophethood and its necessity are discussed. Secondly, it examines how the Qur'an was revealed, whether it was revealed in its entirety or gradually, and the protection of revelation. The third part deals with the stages of the Qur'an in the process of hıfz, kitâbet, tedvin and reproduction, when and by whom this process was initiated, who played an active role in this process and the issue of 7 letters. In addition, issues related to qiraat are the subject of research in this section. The journals Sırât-ı müstakîm and Sebîlü'r-reşâd were not indifferent to the issues related to the history of the Qur'an during the period in which they were published, and although not in a systematic way, they touched upon the aforementioned issues. In this context, in addition to the basic issues such as the revelation of the Qur'an, the process of textualization, the jama'i, the scribe of revelation, the official Mushaf, and the issue of 7 letters, the journal also examined qiraat, ways of learning qiraat, and types of qiraat. As far as we have been able to determine, topics related to the history of the Qur'an were covered in 17 different volumes and 32 issues. Information on our subject was sometimes written in articles on tafsir, as in the writings of Abdülaziz Çavîş, and sometimes in stand-alone articles, as in the writings of Khojazâde Ahmed Hilmi. When we examine the articles in the journal, it is noticeable that the authors abide by scholarly discipline while researching and analyzing the subjects. This is confirmed by the fact that there are no errors in some of the places we checked for accuracy. In the researches on the exegesis of the Qur'an in the journal, the issues related to the history of the Qur'an and Qiraat were mentioned only by name and the contents of the issues were not mentioned. In this study, the issues related to the history of the Qur'an and Qiraat, which were included not only in the articles on tafsir but also in articles on other subjects, were brought together again under the appropriate title. The issues that were scattered in the journal were handled one by one and organized by taking into account the opinions of the authors. "Māh-e-Nau" is a National Magazine and is the voice of entire Pakistan. Relating to every aspect, the national head is a mirror of summer and represents the national life. "Māh-e-Nau" continued to publish articles on Islamic and local saints of religion, literature and poets and it was recognized in literary circles that the best translations of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai were presented in Mah-e- Nau. "Māh-e-Nau" has an important role in introducing this aristocracy poet. In the same way, Māh-e-Nau has the honor of presenting the translation of Waris Shah’s Marakat-ul-Arat work Heer Ranjha in same genre and in the same sea. "Māh-e-Nau" took the lead in getting it done. Apart from this, the best translations of regional songs were presented. He is also credited with introducing folk stories and song. Māh-e-Nau has always gone hand in hand with the national life. It reflects all these situations, events, and actions. In the regard, the special number of "Māh-e-Nau" were published on different topics including "Seerat Number".
