Sırât-ı müstakim ve Sebîlü’r-reşâd Dergilerinde Kur’ân Tarihi ve Kıraate Yaklaşım.

In the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, innovations were made in the fields of education and human rights, especially in the military field. In this period, Islamist journals were published along with economic, industrial and literary journals. Among these journals, Sırât-ı müstakîm/Sebîlü'r-reşâd was one of the most influential publications because it prioritized and defended religious principles in social life. The magazine not only kept its finger on the pulse of the society with the articles it published, but also tried to reshape the society on the axis of religious values. The fact that it included prominent writers of the period such as Mehmet Akif, Mehmed Kâmil Miras, Eşref Edip, Abdülaziz Çâvîş Babanzâde Ahmed Naim, among others, ensured its adoption by the public. Sırât-ı müstakîm/Sebîlü'r-reşâd revealed the founding philosophy of the magazine by announcing that it would try to revive the Qur'anic exegesis and the sciences of the Qur'an. The journal did not only publish in the religious field, but also included articles in fields such as philosophy, literature and law. According to the letters received and published in the journal, it was followed by a wide readership both at home and abroad. The articles in the journal were written seriously by experts in their fields in accordance with the scholarly notion of the period. The articles on the history of the Qur'an and Qiraat were written with the same seriousness. The history of the Qur'an has an important position among the studies aimed at fully understanding the will of Allah and the sciences created in this direction. The subjects of Qur'anic History are analyzed under three main headings. The first is the revelation of the Qur'an to the Prophet from the beginning to the end of revelation. In this section, the nature of revelation, prophethood and its necessity are discussed. Secondly, it examines how the Qur'an was revealed, whether it was revealed in its entirety or gradually, and the protection of revelation. The third part deals with the stages of the Qur'an in the process of hıfz, kitâbet, tedvin and reproduction, when and by whom this process was initiated, who played an active role in this process and the issue of 7 letters. In addition, issues related to qiraat are the subject of research in this section. The journals Sırât-ı müstakîm and Sebîlü'r-reşâd were not indifferent to the issues related to the history of the Qur'an during the period in which they were published, and although not in a systematic way, they touched upon the aforementioned issues. In this context, in addition to the basic issues such as the revelation of the Qur'an, the process of textualization, the jama'i, the scribe of revelation, the official Mushaf, and the issue of 7 letters, the journal also examined qiraat, ways of learning qiraat, and types of qiraat. As far as we have been able to determine, topics related to the history of the Qur'an were covered in 17 different volumes and 32 issues. Information on our subject was sometimes written in articles on tafsir, as in the writings of Abdülaziz Çavîş, and sometimes in stand-alone articles, as in the writings of Khojazâde Ahmed Hilmi. When we examine the articles in the journal, it is noticeable that the authors abide by scholarly discipline while researching and analyzing the subjects. This is confirmed by the fact that there are no errors in some of the places we checked for accuracy. In the researches on the exegesis of the Qur'an in the journal, the issues related to the history of the Qur'an and Qiraat were mentioned only by name and the contents of the issues were not mentioned. In this study, the issues related to the history of the Qur'an and Qiraat, which were included not only in the articles on tafsir but also in articles on other subjects, were brought together again under the appropriate title. The issues that were scattered in the journal were handled one by one and organized by taking into account the opinions of the authors.
