Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the cost expenses and rehabilitation share of hand and/or wrist injuries and to contribute to the development of health and economic policies. Patients and methods: A total of 59 patients (55 males, 4 females; mean age: 39.1±11.3 years; range, 20 to 64 years) who presented with hand and/or wrist injuries between January 2015 and December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. Demographic data, hand injury information, and the Modified Hand Injury Severity Scores (MHISS) were retrieved from the patient file system. The cost analysis with direct and indirect costs was performed. Results: According to the MHISS, 27.1% of patients had a minor injury, 23.7% had a moderate injury, 18.6% had a severe injury, and 30.5% had a major injury. The mean direct cost of the patients was $726.00±641.87 and the total cost of the indirect cost was $2,776.93±1,619.00. The mean day-off time was 125±68.62 days. Indirect costs accounted for 79% of the total cost. The mean cost of rehabilitation was $150.18±86.88. Rehabilitation costs accounted for 4% of the total cost. There was a positive correlation between the MHISS and direct, indirect and total cost, but not between the MHISS and rehabilitation cost. Conclusion: The proportion of the share allocated to rehabilitation expenditures, which is the subunit of direct cost, is low and not related to the injury severity. The data obtained from the study contributed to the creation of evidence-based health and economic policies. We believe that these data also contribute to the planning of rehabilitation services according to the severity of injury which would improve the quality of life and return to work.

In this study, it was aimed to apply the meta-analysis method of the results obtained from the published studies to provide a more precise Covid-19 detection by examining the results of ground glass opacity (GGO) and consolidation, which are the most common imaging findings in chest computed tomography (CT). Published peer-reviewed articles reporting the image characteristics of real-time reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) positive cases and confirming Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) infection were included in the study. The study type of articles were case series, retrospective or prospective cohort studies. The studies under the scope of the research were reached from the National Library of Medicine, the research network for a Secure Australia (RNSA) and The Science Direct databases by searching the keywords Covid-19, SARS-Cov-2, computed chest tomography, Consolidation and GGO. As a result of the search terms, in total 310 articles were collected from three databases and articles were scanned, 250 articles were removed due to lack of GGO and Consolidation information, 24 studies were eliminated due to study type, 7 studies were unsuitable for day criteria, and 9 studies were eliminated due to missing and incorrect data. After all, 20 studies were included in our meta-analysis study. In the positive CT findings, it is known that the GGO is present for up to 5 days, the GGO turns into consolidation on the fifth and the following days, and according to the analysis result; for the early stage of Covid-19, the GGO Prevalence is 82% and Consolidation Prevalence is 40%., Bu çalışmada, bilgisayarlı göğüs tomografisinde en yaygın görüntüleme bulguları olan buzlu cam opasitesi (GGO) ve konsolidasyon sonuçları incelenerek daha kesin Covid-19 tespitini sağlamak için yayınlanan çalışmalardan elde edilen sonuçlar kullanılarak meta analiz yönteminin uygulanması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmaya gerçek zamanlı polimeraz zincir reaksiyonu (rRT-PCR) pozitif vakaların görüntü özelliklerini bildiren ve SARS-Cov-2 enfeksiyonunu doğrulayan yayınlanmış hakemli makaleler dahil edilmiştir. Bu makalelerin çalışma türü vaka serisi, geriye dönük veya ileriye dönük kohort şeklindedir. Araştırma kapsamındaki çalışmalara, Covid-19, şiddetli akut solunum yolu sendromu corona virüsü 2 (SARS-Cov-2), bilgisayarlı göğüs tomografisi, konsolidasyon ve GGO anahtar kelimelerinin radyografik araştırma veri tabanı Secure Australia (RNSA), The Science Direct ve National Library of Medicine'de araştırılması ile ulaşılmıştır. Arama terimleri sonucunda üç veri tabanından toplam 310 makale toplandı ve makaleler tarandı. Buzlu cam opasitesi ve konsolidasyon bilgilerinin olmaması nedeniyle 250 makale çıkarıldı. Geriye kalan makalelerden, çalışma türü nedeniyle 24 makale, gün kriterini sağlamaması nedeniyle 7 makale, eksik ve yanlış veriler nedeniyle 9 makale çıkarıldı. Sonuçta 20 makale meta-analiz çalışmamıza dahil edildi. Bilgisayarlı göğüs tomografisi pozitif olan bulgularda, buzlu cam opasitesinin 5 güne kadar mevcut olduğu, beşinci ve sonraki günlerde konsolidasyona dönüştüğü görülmüştür. Analiz sonuçlarına göre; Covid-19'un erken evresi için buzlu cam opasitesinin prevalansı %82 ve konsolidasyonun prevalansı %40’tır.

Çalışmamızın amacı serebral palsili çocukların annelerinde anksiyete, depresyon ve yaşam kalitesi düzeyi ile serebral palsili çocukların motor bozukluk düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktı. Serebral palsi tanılı çocuğa sahip 98 anne çalışmaya dahil edildi. Katılımcıların sosyodemografik bilgileri kaydedildi. Annelere Beck Depresyon Ölçeği (BDÖ), Beck Anksiyete Ölçeği (BAÖ) ve Dünya Sağlık Örgütü Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği Kısa Formu Türkçe Versiyonu (WHOQOL-BREF-TR) uygulandı. Serebral palsili çocukların Pediatrik Fonksiyonel Bağımsızlık Ölçümü (WeeFIM), Kaba Motor Fonksiyon Sınıflandırma Sistemi (KMFSS) ve Bimanuel İnce Motor Fonksiyon (BİMF) skorları kaydedildi. Serebral palsili çocukların KMFSS, BİMF ve WeeFIM skorlarındaki farklılıkların annelerin BAÖ ve BDÖ skorları ile ilişkili olmadığı bulundu (p>0,05). WeeFIM skoru ile WHOQOL-BREF-TR sosyal ilişkiler alt başlığı arasında anlamlı ilişki saptandı (p0,05). Serebral palsili çocuklardaki fonksiyonel yeti yitimi annelerin yaşam kalitesini olumsuz yönde etkiler. Annelerin anksiyete ve depresyon düzeyi serebral palsili çocukların fonksiyonel düzeylerinden bağımsız olarak etkilenir. It was concluded that increasing the quality of life of mothers who have children with cerebral palsy with physical, psychological and economic support would be important for mothers and their children, their families, social and professional environments

Osteoporosis isa systemic disease which is common in society, characterized by bone micro-architecturedeterioration and low bone mass. The aim of our study was to determine whether paraoxonase1 (PON1) gene correlates with584A>G (Gln192Arg) and 172T>A (Leu55Met) polymorphisms withpostmenopausal osteoporosis. A total of 143 postmenopausal osteoporosis and 102healthy women who were followed up in Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty ofMedicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation were included inthe study. The study was planned retrospectively. Genotypes were identified onthe qPCR (The Applied Biosystems® StepOne ™) using the allele-specific DNAprimer and fluorescent-specific DNA probe. There was no statisticallysignificant difference between the groups in the genotype and allelefrequencies of PON1 584A>Gpolymorphism (p=0.362 and p= 0.318). PON1 172T>A polimorfizminin genotip ve alel frekanslarıkarşılaştırıldığında ise, sağlıklı bireylere göre postmenopozal osteoporozuolanlarda T alelinin istatistikselolarak anlamlı derecede yüksek bulunduğu (sırasıyla pA(Leu55Met) gen polimorfizmi ile postmenopozal osteoporoz arasındailişki olduğu gösterildi.

Osteoporosis is acommon health problem in the world. Hip fractures due to osteoporosis are animportant cause of mortality and morbidity. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of hip fracture inpatients with osteoporosis. The files of patients with osteoporosis whoadmitted to our clinic between January 2009 and December 2010 were analyzedretrospectively. Between January 2009- December 2018, the patients who had hipfracture were determined by patient file and by telephone. Their sociodemographicfeatures (age, sex), diagnoses (postmenopausal osteoporosis, premenopausalosteoporosis, male osteoporosis, secondary osteoporosis) and other fracturesexcept hip were recorded. Osteoporotic hip fracture-related deaths wereevaluated. 286 patients with osteoporosis were evaluated. 147 patients wereincluded in the study. Hip fracture was detected in 8,84 % (n = 13) of thepatients. The mortality rate related to hip fracture in patients withosteoporosis was 2.04% (n = 3). In 10 out of 13 patients who had hip fracture,fracture was observed in different areas except hip fracture (vertebra, arm, forearm).The frequency of hip fracture and related mortality in osteoporosis patientsfollowed by our clinic were determined.It is thought that our results willcontribute to existing database and increase the awareness., Osteoporoz dünyada yaygın görülen önemlibir sağlık sorunudur. Osteoporoza bağlı kalça kırıkları önemli bir mortalite vemorbidite sebebidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı; kliniğimizde takipli osteoporoz hastalarındaki kalça kırığı sıklığınıbelirlemektir. Ocak 2009 – Aralık 2010 tarihleri arasında polikliniğimizebaşvuran osteoporoz tanısı ile takipli hastaların dosyaları retrospektif olaraktarandı. Aralık 2018’e kadar geçen sürede kalça kırığı geçiren hastalarınsosyodemografik özellikleri (yaşı, cinsiyeti), tanıları (postmenopozalosteoporoz, premenopozal osteoporoz, erkek osteoporozu, sekonder osteoporoz),kalça kırığı dışında başka kırık geçirip geçirmedikleri dosya bilgilerinden vetelefonla sorgulanarak elde edildi. Osteoporotik kalça kırığı ile ilişkili ölümlerdeğerlendirildi. Osteoporoz tanısı olan 286 hasta dosyası incelendi. Hastaların147’si çalışmaya dâhil edildi. Hastaların % 8,84 (n=13)’ünde kalça kırığıtespit edildi. Osteoporoz hastalarında kalça kırığına bağlı ölüm oranı % 2,04(n=3) ’dü. On üç hastanın 10’unda kalça kırığı haricinde farklı bölgede(vertebra, kol, ön kol) kırık mevcuttu. Takipli osteoporoz hastalarındaki kalçakırığı sıklığı ve buna bağlı ölümlerin oranı belirlenmiştir. Sonuçlarımızınmevcut veri tabanına katkı sağlayacağı ve farkındalığı arttıracağıdüşünülmüştür.

The aim of this studywas to evaluate 25(OH)D levels in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome and toinvestigate the relationship between tender point count and 25(OH)D levels.Sixtyone patients with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia were included in thisretrospective study between 2016-2017. Demographic data of patients, 25(OH)D levels, numberof tender points were evaluated. Patients were classified as vitamin Ddeficiency ( 30 ng /ml) according to 25(OH)D levels. The mean 25(OH)Dlevels of 61 patients with firomyalgia was 18.08±11.72. When vitamin D levelswere examined, vitamin D deficiency was found in 40 patients with fibromyalgiaand vitamin D deficiency in 14 patients with fibromyalgia. Only 7 (11,48%) ofthe patients with fibromyalgia had normal vitamin D levels. There was nosignificant correlation between 25(OH)D levels and tender point counts ofpatients. It was concluded that the vitamin Dlevels were low in the majority of patients with fibromyalgia, however thenumber of tender point detected inpatients with fibromyalgia was not related to 25(OH)D values., Bu çalışmanın amacı, fibromiyaljisendromu olan hastalarda 25(OH)D düzeyini değerlendirmek ve hassas nokta sayısı ile 25(OH)D düzeyi arasındakiilişkiyi araştırmaktı. Bu retrospektif çalışmaya, 2016-2017 yılları arasındafibromiyalji tanısı almış 61 hasta dahil edildi. Hastaların demografikverileri, 25(OH)D düzeyleri, hassas nokta sayıları değerlendirildi. Hastalar 25(OH)Ddüzeyleri göre; D vitamini eksikliği(30 ng/ml) sınıflandırıldı.Fibromiyalji tanısı olan 61 hastanın 25(OH)D düzeyleri ortalaması 18,08±11,72idi. D vitamin düzeyleri incelendiğinde, 40 fibromiyalji hastasında D vitaminieksikliği, 14 fibromiyalji hastasında D vitamini yetersizliği olduğu saptandı. Fibromiyaljitanısı olan hastaların sadece 7’sinde (%11,48) D vitamin düzeyleri normal seviyede bulunmuştur. Hastaların 25(OH)D düzeylerive hassas nokta sayıları arasında anlamlı bir korelasyon gözlemlenmedi. Fibromiyaljili hastaların büyük çoğunluğunda vitamin Ddüzeylerinin düşük olduğu, bununla birlikte fibromiyaljili hastalarda saptananhassas nokta sayısının 25(OH)D değerleriyleilişkili olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

Atriyalfibrilasyon (AF) kronik kalp yetersizliği (KY) hastalarında sık görülen birritim bozukluğu olup, kötü prognoz ile ilişkilidir. Mineralokortikoid reseptörantagonistlerinin KY olan hastalarda AF gelişme riskini azaltabileceği yönündebazı bulgular olmasına rağmen, bu konudaki kanıtlar yetersizdir.Elektrokardiyografide (EKG) atriyal ileti zamanının ölçümü AF gelişme riskinideğerlendirmede sık kullanılan bir yöntemdir. Bu çalışma düşük ejeksiyonfraksiyonlu (EF) KY hastalarında spironolaktonun EKG’de ölçülen atriyal iletiüzerine olan etkisini değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmayakompanse, sinüs ritminde, düşük EF’li KY olan 23 hasta alındı ve altı ayboyunca takip edildi (spironolakton grubu: 12 hasta, kontrol grubu: 11 hasta).Hastaların temel klinik ve laboratuar özellikleri saptandı. Başlangıç ve altıaylık takip sonunda EKG ve ekokardiyografik özellikler hem grup içi, hem degruplar arasında karşılaştırıldı. This studyaims to evaluate the effect of spironolactone on atrial conduction in ECG inpatients with HF with reduced ejection fraction (EF).
