Turkey is home to many plant species due to its ecological characteristics. However, adaptation studies of new fruit species in different regions of Turkey with different climatic characteristics increases everyday. The aim of this study is to determine the levels of total phenolic substance, total flavonoid substance, total ascorbic acid and antioxidant capacity (ABTS, DPPH) in fruit flesh of Mango (Mangifera indica L.), white (Hylocereus undatus Britton & Rose) and red pitaya (Hylocereus lemairei (Hook.) Britton & Rose), guava (Psidium guajava L.) that are adapted to the Mediterranean Region, and March fig (Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill.) grown widely in the region. It was determined that total phenolic and total flavonoid contents were highest in Guava (80.1 mg/200g) and March fig (4.68 mg/100g) and lowest in mango (45.4 mg/100g) and white pitaya (0.95 mg/100g) fruits. The total flavonoid content, including color substances, in red pitaya fruit flesh was found to be higher than that of white pitaya fruits. The highest total ascorbic acid content was found to be the in the fruit of the March fig (5.38 mg/100g). ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging activities were found to be highest in guava fruit and lowest in march fig fruit., Türkiye sahip olduğu ekolojik özellikleri sebebiyle birçok bitki türüne ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Bununla birlikte Türkiye’nin farklı iklimsel özelliklere sahip olan farklı bölgelerinde yeni meyve türlerinin adaptasyon çalışmaları her geçen gün artmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı Akdeniz Bölgesine adapte edilen Mango (Mangifera indica L.), beyaz (Hylocereus undatus Britton & Rose) ve kırmızı pitaya (Hylocereus lemairei (Hook.) Britton & Rose), guava (Psidium guajava L.) ve bölgede yaygın olarak yetişen mart inciri (Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill.) meyvelerinin etinde toplam fenolik madde, toplam flavanoid madde, toplam askorbik asit ve antioksidan kapasitenin (ABTS, DPPH) belirlenmesidir. En yüksek toplam fenolik madde ve toplam flavanoid madde içeriği sırasıyla guava (80.1 mg 100g-1) ve mart inciri (4.68 mg 100g-1) meyvelerinde; en düşük mango (45.4 mg 100g-1) ve beyaz pitaya (0.95 mg 100g-1) meyvelerinde tespit edilmiştir. Kırmızı pitaya meyve etinde renk maddelerinin de içerisinde yer aldığı toplam flavanoid madde içeriği beyaz pitaya meyvelerinden daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Toplam askorbik asit içeriği en yüksek olan meyve mart inciri meyvesidir (5.38 mg 100g-1). ABTS ve DPPH radikal süpürücü aktiviteler ise guava meyvesinde en yüksek bulunurken, mart inciri meyvesinde en düşük olarak belirlenmiştir.

In this study, the biochemical, microbiological, mutagenic and antioxidant properties of red pepper (Capsicum annum) grown in 6 districts of Adıyaman province (Kahta, Gerger, Sincik, Samsat, Tut, Gölbaşı) were investigated. The bioactive compounds of Gerger samples, which also exhibited higher antioxidant activity. The results of antimicrobial activity showed that Kahta pepper extract exhibited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 with an MIC (minimum inhibition concentration) value of 0.715 mg/ml. The lowest MIC values in the pepper extracts were obtained in Kahta pepper extract (0.715-1.43 mg ml-1), and the highest MIC values were recorded in Tut pepper extract (1.1525-4.61 mg ml-1). The mutagenic activity results of peppers indicated no mutagenic effect at the doses tests and in the studies carried out on TA 100 strains and Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 and in the absence of S9. Dose dependent increase was recorded on Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 strain of Samsat pepper samples. But, the rising was not statistically importent.

Ribes L. cinsine ait bitkiler çoğu zaman doğal olarak yetişen, son zamanlarda da kültürü yapılan çalı formundaki bitkilerdir. Bu cinse ait olan bektaşi üzümü ve frenk üzümünün sağlık açısından çeşitli faydalara sahip olduğu bilinmekte olup, bu faydalarından dolayı son yıllarda insanoğlunun dikkatini cezbetmiş durumdadır. Bu çalışmada Beşikdüzü/Trabzon’dan toplanmış olan bektaşi üzümü (Ribes uva-crispa L.) ve dağ frenk üzümünün (Ribes alpinum L.) toplam askorbik asit, toplam fenolik ve toplam flavonoid içerikleri ile antioksidan, antibakteriyel ve mutajen aktivileri araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar neticesinde, bektaşi üzümü ve dağ frenk üzümünün sahip olduğu toplam fenolik, flavonoid ve askorbik asit değerleri arasında istatistiksel olarak bir fark gözlenmemiştir (p>0.05). Antioksidan aktivite değerlerinin ise dağ frenk üzümünde daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Antibakteriyel aktivite sonuçları incelendiğinde de benzer bir şekilde dağ frenk üzümü ekstraktının test bakterilerine karşı daha yüksek aktivite sergilediği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca; bektaşi üzümü ve dağ frenk üzümü ekstraktlarının hiçbirinde Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 ve TA 100’e karşı herhangi bir mutajen aktiviteye rastlanmamıştır.

In this study, total phenolic, total flavonoid and antioxidant activities of the some endemic species Sideritis rubriflora Hub.-Mor., Sideritis libanotica Labill. subsp. violascens (P.H.Davis) P.H.Davis, Sideritis erythrantha Boıss. Et Heldr. Apus Bentham var. cedretorum P.H.Davis, Sideritis congesta P. H. Davis Et Hub.-Mor., Sideritis brevidens P.H.Davis and Sideritis vuralii H. Duman Et Başer, which were collected from Anamur district of Mersin province in Turkey, were analyzed. Total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC) and total antioxidant capacity (DPPH), (ABTS), (FRAP) of the ground surface parts were evaluated. As a result of the study, the highest TPC value was observed in S. erythrantha subsp. cedretorum and S. rubriflora extracts as being 366.9 and 328.3 mg/g DW, respectively; the highest TFC value was observed in S. rubriflora extract as being 155.7 mg/g; the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity was observed in S. congesta and S. brevidens extracts as being 39.1% and 38.9%, respectively; the highest ABTS radical scavenging activity was observed in S. erythrantha subsp. cedretorum and S. rubriflora extracts as being 54.9% and 51.9%, respectively; the highest FRAP value was observed in S. libanotica subsp. violascens extract as being 1500.2 µmol/g. In the light of the acquired findings, it is suggested that Sideritis species used in the study can be used as a possible natural source in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

Avocado is recommended by experts in many diets because of the variety and richness of nutritional elements in fruit. Fruit flesh contains very low levels of sugar, while it contains dietary fiber, unsaturated fats, many vitamins and minerals, and a large number of phytochemical compounds with bioactive properties. In this study, total phenolic, total flavanoid, total ascorbic acid and pigment contents with antioxidant capacities were determined based on three different methods of leaf and fruit methanolic extracts of Hass and Fuerte avocado cultivars grown in Alanya ecological conditions. As a result of the study, it was determined that leaf extracts contain higher total phenolic content, total flavanoid content, total ascorbic acid content and antioxidant capacity than those of fruit extracts. ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activity of extracts was 35.9% (Hass fruit extract) and 60.5% (Fuerte leaf extract), DPPH radical scavenging activity was (1,1-diphenyl-2-) picrylhydrazyl) between 30.7% (Hass fruit extract) and 51.4% (Fuerte leaf extract), FRAP (Ferric ion reducing antioxidant power) value was 130.8 µmol FeII g-1 (Hass fruit extract) and 267.5 µmol FeII g-1 (Fuerte leaf extract) has been determined. The chlorophyll a values of the extracts were found to be higher than the chlorophyll b values. The highest total chlorophyll content was found in leaf extracts of Hass and Fuerte cultivars (22.89 and 21.72 µg g-1, respectively). Total carotenoid content was higher in leaf samples than fruit samples and it was found that it ranged from 0.07 µg g-1 (Hass fruit extract) to 4.16 µg g-1 (Fuerte leaf extract)., Avokado meyvesi, içerisindeki besinsel öğelerin çeşitliliği ve zenginliği nedeniyle birçok diyette uzmanlar tarafından önerilmektedir. Meyve eti çok düşük oranda şeker içerirken diyet lifi, doymamış yağlar, birçok vitamin ve mineral madde ile biyoaktif özelliğe sahip çok sayıda fitobileşen içermektedir. Bu çalışmada, Alanya ekolojik koşullarında yetiştirilen Hass ve Fuerte avokado çeşitlerinin meyve ve yaprak dokularında toplam fenolik madde, toplam flavanoid madde, toplam askorbik asit ve pigment içerikleri ile antioksidan kapasiteleri belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda yaprak ekstraktlarının meyve ekstraktlarına oranla daha yüksek toplam fenolik madde, toplam flavanoid madde, toplam askorbik asit içeriği ile antioksidan kapasiteye sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Ekstraktların ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radikali süpürücü aktivitelerinin %35.9 (Hass meyve ekstraktı) ile %60.5 (Fuerte yaprak ekstraktı), DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radikali süpürücü aktivitelerinin %30.7 (Hass meyve ekstraktı) ile %51.4 (Fuerte yaprak ekstraktı), FRAP (Demir iyonu indirgeyici antioksidan güç) değerlerinin ise 130.8 µmol FeII g-1 (Hass meyve ekstraktı) ile 267.5 µmol FeII g-1 (Fuerte yaprak ekstraktı) arasında değiştiği belirlenmiştir. Ekstraktlarda klorofil a değerlerinin klorofil b değerlerine göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. En yüksek toplam klorofil içeriği Hass ve Fuerte çeşitlerinin yaprak ekstraktlarında (sırasıyla 22.89 ve 21.72 µg g-1) tespit edilmiştir. Toplam karotenoid içeriği yine yaprak örneklerinde meyve örneklerine göre daha yüksek bulunurken, bu değerlerin 0.07 µg g-1 (Hass meyve ekstraktı) ile 4.16 µg g-1 (Fuerte yaprak ekstraktı) arasında değiştiği belirlenmiştir.

Inthis study, total phenolic contents, total flavonoid contents, total ascorbicacid contents and antioxidant capacities of the samples of Anchusa azurea Millervar. Azurea growing in Ardahan and Elazığ cities were determined.The total ascorbic acid, total phenolic and total flavonoid content, wasfound to be the lowest in Elazığ azurea leaf samples than those of Ardahan. It hasbeen determined that thetotal ascorbic acid, total phenolic and total flavonoid content of Elazığsamples sustained 72.9 mg/100g, 302.1 mg/100g ve 99.67 mg/100g,respectively. In the samples taken from the Ardahan, ABTS(2,2-Azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic Acid), DPPH(2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate) and FRAP (Ferric Reducing AntioxidantPower) values ​​were found higher than the other samples. The ABTS, DPPH and FRAP ofArdahan samples were 76.1%, 89.3% and 1386.1 µmol Fe II/g, respectively. Thepigment contents of the samples grown in different ecological conditions werevaried in the study., Buçalışmada, Ardahan ve Elazığ illerinden toplanan Anchusa azurea Miller var. Azurea bitkisinin yapraklarında askorbik asit,toplam fenolik madde, toplam flavonoid madde ve pigment içerikleri ileantioksidan kapasite analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ardahan ilinden toplanan Anchusaazurea var. Azurea bitkisininyapraklarında askorbik asit, toplam fenolik madde ve toplam flavonoid maddemiktarlarının Elazığ ilinden alınan örneklere oranla daha düşük bulunmuştur.Elazığ ilinden toplanan örneklerde askorbik asit, toplam fenolik madde vetoplam flavonoid madde miktarlarının sırasıyla 72.9 mg/100g, 302.1mg/100g ve 99.67 mg/100g olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ardahan ilinden toplananörneklerde ABTS (2,2-Azino-bis-3-etilbenzotiyazolin-6-sülfonik asit), DPPH(2,2-difenil-1-pikril-hidrazil-hidrat), ve FRAP (Demir iyonu indirgeyiciantioksidan güç) sonuçlarının sırası ile %76.1, %89.3 ve 1386.1 µmol Fe II/golduğu belirlenmiştir. Farklı ekolojik koşullarda yetişen örneklerin pigmentiçeriği sonuçlarının da değişkenlik gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir.

The pear (Pyrus spp.) is one of the most important fruits consumed in daily life. The aim of this study was to determine the total phenolic and ascorbic acid contents, as well as the antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antimutagenic activities, of various pear cultivars. The fruits of five pear (Pyrus communis L.) cultivars (‘Deveci’, ‘Kizil’, ‘Egirsah’, ‘Gugum’, and ‘Banda’) were used in this study. It was determined that the peel and pulp of the ‘Kizil’ pear had the highest total phenolic content (402.5 mg/100 g and 215.2 mg/100 g, respectively), while those of the ‘Banda’ pear had the lowest total phenolic content (326 mg/100 g and 126.1 mg/100 g, respectively). Additionally, the ‘Kizil’ pear showed the highest antioxidant capacity in the 2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS) and ferric-reducing ability assay (FRAP) (1.72 ?mol TE/g FW and 161.25 ?mol Fe II/g FW, respectively) and the highest ascorbic acid content (16.02 mg/100 g). The ‘Banda’ pear showed the highest antibacterial activity against the test bacteria. However, none of the pear extracts displayed antifungal activity. While all doses of the ‘Kizil’, ‘Gugum’, and ‘Banda’ pear extracts used in this study, except 80 ?L/plate, exhibited antimutagenic activities, only the lowest dose (10 ?L/plate) of the ‘Deveci’ pear extract showed the antimutagenic activity against induced mutagenesis in the Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 strain. Consequently, the five Turkish pear cultivars used in this study exhibited different levels of antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antimutagenic activities.

In this study, antioxidant activity, antibacterial effect against sometest bacteria, and antimutagenic effect with AMES test of Guelder rose fruitnaturally growing in Ardahan and its surrounding area were examined. DifferentGr (+), and Gr (-) bacteria and yeasts were used as test microorganisms duringthe antibacterial activity tests. AMES / Salmonella/Microsome test waspreferred for antimutagenic effect study and Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 andTA 100 strains were used. According to the obtained data, 0.80 g fruitweight onaverage, 11.3% of Soluble Dry Matter content, 3.20 of pH, 0.80 mg/g of totalanthocyanin, and 52.5% of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicalscavenging activity, 72.8 µmol TE/g FW 2,2′-Azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) value, 122.6 µmol Fe II/g FW Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP)value were determined. It was determined that Guelder rose fruit extract hasantibacterial activity at different rates on test bacteria, but not antifungalactivity. The most sensitive bacterium was Pseudomonas aeroginosa ATCC 9027among the test microorganisms. In antimutagenic activity, only 40 μl dose ofGuelder rose in TA98 strains caused a significant reduction compared to thepositive control. In TA100 strains, no statistically significant decrease comparedto positive control at any dose occurred., Bu çalışmada Ardahan ve çevresinde doğal olarakyetişmekte olan Gilaburu meyvelerinin antioksidan özellikleri, farklımikroorganizmalar üzerindeki antimikrobiyal etkisi ve Ames testi ileantimutajenik etkisi araştırıldı. Antimikrobiyal aktivite testleri esnasındafarklı Gr (+) ve Gr (-) bakteriler ile mayalar kullanıldı. Antimutajenik etkiçalışmalarında ise AMES/Salmonella Mikrozom testi ile Salmonella typhimurium TA98 ve TA 100 suşları kullanıldı. Elde edilen verilere göre gilaburumeyvelerinin ağırlığı ortalama olarak 0.80 g, suda çözünür kuru madde (SÇKM)içeriği % 11.3, pH’sı 3.20, toplam antosiyanin miktarı 0.80mg/g,1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)radikal süpürücü etkisi % 52.5,2,2′-Azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) değeri 72.8 µmolTE/g FW, Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) değeri ise 122.6 µmol Fe II/gFW olarak belirlendi. Ayrıca gilaburu ekstraktının test mikroorganizmalarıüzerinde değişen oranlarda antibakteriyel aktiviteye sahip oldukları; ancakantifungal aktivite sergilemedikleri belirlendi. Test bakterileri içerisindeise en duyarlı olanının Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027 olduğu belirlendi.Antimutajenite deneylerinde,TA98 suşlarında gilaburunun sadece 40 µl dozundapozitif kontrole göre önemli bir azalma meydana getirdi. TA100 suşlarında isehiçbir dozda pozitif kontrole göre istatistiksel olarak önemli bir azalmameydana gelmediği belirlendi.

Bu çalışmada Ardahan/Türkiye ve Ahıska/Gürcistan şehirlerinde farklı rakımlarda yetişen yalancı iğde (Hippohae rhamnoides L.) genotiplerine ait örneklerin meyve ağırlıkları, meyve renkleri, suda çözünür kuru madde (SÇKM) içerikleri, titre edilebilir asit içerikleri, pH değerleri, toplam fenolik madde içerikleri, toplam flavanoid madde içerikleri, toplam askorbik asit içerikleri ve antioksidan kapasiteleri belirlenmiştir. Çalışmamızda rakım artışının SÇKM ve pH ile ters orantılı olduğu, titre edilebilir asitlikle doğru orantılı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Toplam fenolik madde içeriklerinin en yüksek G2 bölgesinden (241 mg/100g), en düşük ise G1 bölgesinden (229.4 mg/100g) alınan meyvelerde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Toplam flavanoid madde içeriğinin 1358.7-1920.6 mg/100g aralığında olduğu ve bu değerin yüksek rakımda daha fazla olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Meyve örneklerinin toplam askorbik asit içerikleri A1 bölgesinden alınan örneklerde en yüksek (1406.8 mg/100g), G2 bölgesinden alınan örneklerde en düşük (1310.2 mg/100g) olarak saptanmıştır. G2 bölgesinden alınan örneklerde ABTS, DPPH ve FRAP değerleri diğer örneklere göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur. En düşük antioksidan kapasite değerleri ise A1 ve A2 bölgesi örneklerinde görülmüştür, In this study, fruit weights, fruit colors, total water soluble dry matter contents, titratable acid contents, pH values, total phenolic substance contents, total flavonoid substance contents, total ascorbic acid contents and antioxidant capacities of the samples of genotypes of buckthorn (Hippohae rhamnoides) growing in Ardahan/Turkey and Ahıska/Georgia were determined. It has been detected in our study that the increase in altitude is inversely proportional to total water soluble dry matter contents and pH, and is proportional to titratable acidity. The total phenolic content was found to be the highest in the G2 region (241 mg / 100 g) and lowest in the G1 region (229.4 mg / 100 g). It has been determined that the content of total flavonoid is in the range of 1358.7-1920.6 mg / 100 g and this value is higher at higher altitudes. The total ascorbic acid contents of fruit samples were the highest in samples taken from area A1 (1406.8 mg / 100g) and lowest (1310.2 mg / 100g) in samples taken from area G2. In the samples taken from the G2 region; ABTS, DPPH and FRAP values were found higher than the other samples. The lowest antioxidant capacity values were seen in the A1 and A2 regions

In this study, phylogenetic analysis of some Turkish Prunus armeniaca L. genotypes was conducted based on RAPD-PCR, ISSR-PCR, and chloroplast DNA (trnL-F) sequence analyses. Prunus armeniaca genotypes were obtained from Malatya province, and brought to the laboratory for genomic DNA isolation. Eleven RAPD and fifteen ISSR primers were used to determine molecular characterization of Prunus armeniaca genotypes. For the amplification of the trnL-F region, trne and trnf primers were used in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). A total of 46 and 95 bands were obtained with RAPD and ISSR analysis, respectively. The trnL-F sequences varied from 398 to 403 nucleotides. Average nucleotide composition of trnL-F sequences was 31.0% T, 14.4% C, 37.4% A and 17.2% G. The genetic distance between the five apricot genotypes is 0.00. A maximum likelihood tree was generated to determine genetic relationships among Prunus armeniaca genotypes. Analysis of Prunus armeniaca genotypes based on RAPD, ISSR, and trnL-F sequences revealed that the rate of polymorphism obtained using RAPD and ISSR were higher than those obtained through the trnL-F sequences.
