Recent methodological recommendations suggest the use of the "3-step method," consisting of calendar-based counting, urinary ovulation testing, and serum blood sampling, for the identification of subtle menstrual disturbances (SMDs). However, the use of the 3-step method is not always feasible, so a less demanding combination of calendar-based counting and urinary ovulation testing, that is, the 2-step method, may be a viable alternative. Purpose: To investigate the agreement between the 2- and 3-step methods for the detection of SMDs. Methods: Menstrual cycles (MCs, 98) of 59 athletes were assessed using the 2- and 3-step methods. Regular-length MCs (ie, ≥21 and ≤35 d) were classified as either having no SMD (luteal phase length ≥10 d, midluteal progesterone concentration ≥16 nmol·L−1, and being ovulatory) or having an SMD (eg, short luteal phase [<10 d], inadequate luteal phase [midluteal progesterone concentration <16 nmol·L−1], or being anovulatory). Method agreement was assessed using the McNemar test and Cohen kappa (κ). Results: Substantial agreement was observed between methods (κ =.72; 95% CI,.53–.91), but the 2-step method did not detect all MCs with an SMD, resulting in evidence of systematic bias (χ2 = 5.14; P =.023). The 2-step method detected 61.1% of MCs that had an SMD ([51.4, 70.8]), as verified using the 3-step method, and correctly identified 100% of MCs without an SMD. Conclusions: MCs classified as being disturbed using the 2-step method could be considered valid evidence of SMDs. Background: Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a severe complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and occurs more frequently in SLE patients than in other autoimmune diseases, which can influence patients' life quality. The objective of this research was to analyze risk factors for the occurrence of ONFH in female SLE patients, construct and validate a risk nomogram model. Methods: Clinical records of SLE patients who fulfilled the 1997 American College of Rheumatology SLE classification criteria were retrospectively analyzed. The Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to summarize the independent risk factors of ONFH in female SLE patients, which were used to develop a nomogram. The predictive performance of the nomogram was assessed using the receiver characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA). Results: 793 female SLE patients were ultimately included in this study, of which 87 patients (10.9%) developed ONFH. Ten independent risk factors including disease duration, respiratory involvement, menstrual abnormalities, Sjögren's syndrome, osteoporosis, anti-RNP, mycophenolate mofetil, cyclophosphamide, biologics, and the largest daily glucocorticoid (GC) were identified to construct the nomogram. The area under the ROC curve of the nomogram model was 0.826 (95% CI: 0.780-0.872) and its calibration for forecasting the occurrence of ONFH was good (X²= 5.589, P = 0.693). DCA showed that the use of nomogram prediction model had certain application in clinical practice when the threshold was 0.05 to 0.95. In subgroup analysis, we found that the risk of ONFH was significantly increased in age at SLE onset of ≤ 50 years old, largest daily GC dose of ≥50 mg and the therapy of GC combined with immunosuppressant patients with menstrual abnormalities.Conclusion: Menstrual abnormalities were the first time reported for the risk factors of ONFH in female SLE patients, which remind that clinicians should pay more attention on female SLE patients with menstrual abnormalities and take early interventions to prevent or slow the progression of ONFH. Objectives: To investigate the association between insomnia severity symptoms and menstrual health, fatigue and anxiety symptoms in women at reproductive age. Method: We used data from EPISONO (2007), an epidemiological study from the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Women completed the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), the Chalder Fatigue Scale (CFS), and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) to obtain information about insomnia, fatigue, and anxiety symptoms. For menstrual health, we collected information using our Institutional Women's Questionnaire about menstrual flow and duration, the presence of pain during menstruation and menstrual cycle regularity. The statistical analysis was performed using ordinal logistic regression, considering p <.05. Results: Of the 1,042 participants, only 282 women met the inclusion criteria to participate in this study. The mean age was 34.4 years (SD ± 8.36), and the body mass index (BMI) was 25.7 (SD ± 5.39). According to the model, a 1-unit higher CFS score increased the odds of having more insomnia symptoms in the ISI (OR = 1.170; 95% CI=[1.073; 1.279]; p <.001). In the same way, a 1-unit higher BAI score increased the chance of presenting insomnia symptoms, according to the ISI (OR = 1.072; 95% CI=[1.042; 1.104]; p <.001). The menstrual variables did not represent statistical significance in the model. Conclusions: Fatigue and anxiety symptoms were associated with insomnia symptoms; however, no association was observed between menstrual health and insomnia. The need to examine sleep when there are sleep complaints is essential to provide an accurate diagnosis that facilitates appropriate treatment and to provide better sleep quality for women. Context Prolactinoma, the most common subtype of pituitary adenoma, is rare in children and adolescents. Clinical presentation and treatment outcomes of prolactinomas in this population have been evaluated insufficiently. Objective To summarize the clinical features, both medication and surgical outcomes of prolactinomas in children and adolescents in a large retrospective cohort from China. Methods A cohort of patients with prolactinomas aged ≤20 years at diagnosis between 2012 and 2021 in Peking Union Medical College Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results The cohort comprised 170 patients (115 females and 55 males, median age 16.6 years), with 20.0% (23/115) girls without menarche and 33.3% (18/54) boys in prepuberty. The median maximal diameter was 15.0 mm (61.2% macroadenomas and 4.6% giant adenomas), and the median baseline prolactin (PRL) level was 211.0 ng/mL. Larger sizes and higher PRL levels were observed in girls without menarche at diagnosis and in boys. Most girls presented with menstrual disturbance (86.7%), and boys were frequently bothered by headaches (42.6%), reduced height velocities (25.9%), and delayed puberty (18.2%). Dopamine agonists (DAs) were used as first-line treatment in 133 patients, and the resistance rate was 22.5% (25/111), independently associated with maximal tumor diameters (P =.035). Surgery was performed in 76 patients. Long-term surgical remission rates were 32.9% (25/76) overall, negatively associated with cavernous sinus invasion independently (P =.025), 59.4% (19/32) in noninvasive tumors (64.0% in 25 noninvasive macroadenomas), and 5.0% (1/20) in invasive tumors. Conclusion Pediatric prolactinomas exhibited more severe clinical characteristics in boys and in patients diagnosed during earlier stages of pubertal developments. Given the overall efficacy of PRL normalization by medication and considerable surgical remission rate in noninvasive tumors, DAs remain the first-line recommendation for prolactinomas in children and adolescents, while surgery might be viable for noninvasive tumors. Introduction: Obesity is associated with several co-morbidities in women, including disturbed sex hormone regulation with menstrual disturbances, subfertility, hirsutism, and central fat dispersion, all with an impact on sexual function and quality of life. There are few investigations regarding women's experiences of obesity-related altered sex hormone regulation and resolution after bariatric surgery. Objectives: This systematic review and interpretive meta-synthesis aim to identify the current qualitative knowledge base concerning women undergoing bariatric surgery and experiences of changes after weight loss, emphasising aspects of womanliness. Methods: A systematic review and qualitative meta-synthesis was conducted to gain a deeper and broader understanding of the available knowledge about premenopausal women's experienced changes after bariatric surgery. Relevant papers were identified by systematically searching PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, PsycInfo, PsycArticles, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Open Grey. The quality of the included studies was assessed, and the data was interpreted and synthesised using Gadamer's hermeneutics. The review protocol was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42023394225). Results: A total of 10 studies were considered relevant and included in the qualitative meta-synthesis. Three fusions were identified and interpreted as: "Womanliness," "A healthy and functioning body," and "Mind and Body Connection." Women experienced a return to womanliness after undergoing bariatric surgery with restored menstruation cycles, improved fertility and changed hair and fat dispersion signalling restored sex hormones. Women value a return to a healthy and functioning body that improves their experience of life and ability to take part in it. However, women experienced difficulties in adapting mentally to the drastic physical changes that occur after undergoing surgery. Conclusions: Women that have undergone bariatric surgery report several benefits to their health and well-being, although difficulties in adapting mentally to changes in outer appearance need to be managed in order to successfully move forward with a new life after surgery. Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most prevalent endocrinopathies among young women. Ultrasound evidence of polycystic ovaries is one of its crucial diagnostic criteria. Objectives: Our main objective is to study the contribution of ultrasound data in diagnosing PCOS. In addition, we aim to establish a new cutoff point for the use of ultrasound and to determine its sensitivity as well as its specificity. Design: It was a prospective study, including all patients presenting with clinical hyperandrogenism. Methods: The ultrasound examination of these patients was performed using a novel ultrasound machine (18 MHz) compared to an older ultrasound machine (2 Hz–8 MHz). Inclusion criteria encompassed adult female patients over 18 years presenting symptoms suggestive of PCOS, particularly hyperandrogenism and oligo-anovulation, meeting Rotterdam's diagnostic criteria. Prior to inclusion, assessments were conducted to eliminate other potential causes explaining hyperandrogenism or menstrual disorders in both groups. Results: We examined 92 patients diagnosed with PCOS. Menstrual disorders were the main symptoms, with amenorrhea being more frequent in the PCOS group (G1) (48.9% vs the control group (G2): 11.1%). The follicle number was significantly lower in the control group, as assessed by both ultrasound machines (p < 10−3). The accuracy of the new ultrasound device was evaluated compared to the old one using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, revealing a cutoff of 18 follicles (sensitivity of 68.1%, specificity of 100%) and an area under the curve of 0.955. We found a significant difference between the median values of the number of follicles (NF) by both ultrasound machines (18 vs 12). It was positively correlated with an index of r = 0.916. For the volume, it was distinctively higher in G1 (p < 10−3). ROC curve analysis revealed an ovarian volume cutoff of 9.25 ml with a sensitivity of 48.9% and a specificity of 100%. Both ultrasound machines were positively correlated with an index of r = 0.979 (p < 10−3). Conclusion: In conclusion, we were able to establish significant correlations between the new and the old ultrasound devices for both the NF and ovarian volume. Our study is distinctive as it represents the first on the African continent to re-evaluate the ultrasound criterion for PCOS. Results: Our new measurement thresholds were more accurate in diagnosing PCOS. The improved standards led to better identification of PCOS in North African women. This suggests that current ultrasound methods might need adjustments based on population-specific data. Background: Physical, affective and behavioural symptoms associated with the menstrual cycle are commonplace. Adolescents with problematic symptoms have reported a negative impact on school attendance, behaviour and participation in physical activity. In the United Kingdom, evidence suggests that menstrual health education delivered by teachers focusses on menstrual cycle biology as opposed to management of menstruation and menstrual cycle related symptoms. Through obtaining the pupil voice, this study aimed to understand young people's perceptions and experiences of menstrual education in schools and their experiences of menstruating whilst at school, including within Physical Education. Methods: To address the aims, a qualitative descriptive study was conducted. Nine focus groups with female pupils (n = 48; ages 10–15 years) were completed across six school locations in England and Wales, including primary and secondary schools. A range of elements relating to the menstrual cycle, education at school and PE were discussed by pupils. Results: Four main themes were developed (a) Education preferences, (b) Period positive environments, (c) Personal experiences and (d) Impact on school. Similarities were reflected across focus groups in terms of current (lacking) education, lesson style and preferences, comfort of conversations, lack of school support and impact on school and PE. Conclusion: The findings highlight the lack of menstrual education received and subsequent impact of menstruation and menstrual-related symptoms in school and PE. The abundance of information requested by pupils highlights the deficit in understanding about how to manage periods in school and remain engaged in physical activity. Schools can utilise information from the current study to; create period positive environments; consider lesson content and format; and explore how to support girls to stay physically active in PE. Plain English Summary: Female pupils attending primary and secondary schools across England and Wales have shared their perceptions and experiences of school menstrual education, including perceived gaps in their own understanding. Introduction Aim Methods Results Conclusion A number of barriers in care exist for women/girls with bleeding disorders. Little progress has been made to overcome them, particularly regarding levels of awareness of healthcare professionals (HCPs) and women/girls.To evaluate awareness and perception of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) and bleeding disorders among HCPs and women/girls.A three‐part qualitative study was conducted, including HCPs and women/girls from over seven countries. Part 1 included eleven 60‐min interviews with experts discussing HMB diagnostic barriers, which were further assessed in surveys among 6099 women/girls, 353 general practitioners (GPs), and 426 obstetricians and gynaecologists (OB/GYNs) during Part 2. Part 3 included three 1.5–2‐h workshops with 20 clinicians and patient representatives covering HMB knowledge, criteria defining HMB and HCP resourcing for diagnosis.Many HCPs do not conduct certain investigations for women/girls presenting with HMB, and 22% of GPs lack confidence in the management of HMB. Only 8% of GPs use screening tools to evaluate menstrual blood loss, and 13% of GPs and 15% of OB/GYNs assess underlying bleeding disorders. Seventy‐six percent of menstruating women/girls believed they could recognise HMB symptoms ‘well’. However, 23% of these women/girls would not seek medical advice for abnormal/prolonged menstruation disrupting their lives. Disruptions were reported in 34% of women/girls from the general population and 61% of women with at‐risk symptoms of HMB.Many women/girls and HCPs have limited awareness of important HMB indicators. Premenstrual exacerbation of an existing psychiatric disorder refers to the worsening of symptoms inherent to the condition during the premenstrual phase. Research consistently indicates that hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle present a unique period of vulnerability for the onset or exacerbation of psychiatric symptoms, impacting diagnosis, risk assessment, and treatment. This review sought to elucidate the phenomenon of premenstrual exacerbation and its impact across a spectrum of psychiatric illnesses, including mood, anxiety, psychotic, obsessive-compulsive, personality, and trauma-related disorders. Despite the expanded research in recent years on premenstrual dysphoric disorder and premenstrual syndrome, premenstrual exacerbation remains underexplored and poorly defined. This review offers significant contributions to the diagnosis and management of psychiatric conditions, advocating for heightened awareness and novel treatment approaches in the context of premenstrual exacerbation. Background: Cold water swimming is growing in popularity, especially among women. We have previously reported that women felt that cold water swimming helps with their menstrual and menopause symptoms. But little is known about the habits of women who cold water swim. Objectives: To determine the habits of women who cold water swim. Design: This was a mixed-methods study. Methods: An online survey asked women who cold water swim about their experience of swimming and how this affected their menstrual and menopause symptoms. The survey was advertised for 2 months on social media, with a focus on advertising in cold water swimming Facebook groups. In this article, only the questions on the women's swimming habits were analyzed. Results: The analysis of 1114 women, mainly from the United Kingdom, revealed that most had been swimming for 1–5 years (79.5%). Most swim in the sea (64.4%), and only 15.5% swim alone. The majority (89.0%) swim all year around, swimming for mainly 30–60 min in the summer and 5–15 min in the winter. The women mostly swim wearing swimming costumes (skins) throughout the year. The majority of the free-text responses showed women found mental and physical benefits from cold water swimming. Conclusion: It was not surprising to learn that women swim for longer in the summer than the winter, but hearing how they feel cold water swimming helps their physical and mental health is important. With the limitations on access and safety of many wild swimming sites in the United Kingdom, it is time to ensure that cold water swimming is safer and more supported. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Although there is potential for the menstrual cycle to impact psychophysiological responses to exercise, there has been a paucity of studies investigating this aspect, specifically in the context of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Purpose: This exploratory study aimed to examine the psychophysiological responses to HIIT over the menstrual cycle. Methods: Twenty-three healthy and physically active young women were recruited. Each woman completed a cycle ergometer HIIT session in the menstrual, follicular, and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle in a random order. Psychophysiological variables of interest were collected at baseline, and during and after exercise. Primary variables of interest were anxiety, mood, motivation, enjoyment, arousal, affect, and menstrual distress. Results: Higher pain, water retention, behavior change (related to social interactions, eating habits, and self-performance), and autonomic reactions (consisting of nausea, dizziness, hot flashes, and cold sweats) were observed before HIIT during the menstrual phase compared with the follicular phase (P < 0.05). Participants exhibited worse psychological responses to HIIT sessions during the menstrual phase, followed by the luteal phase. Findings also noted participants arrived to the laboratory with lower motivation to initiate HIIT sessions during the luteal and menstrual phases compared with the follicular phase. This difference was observed before and during HIIT. Motivation and depressive symptoms showed a significant reduction from pre-HIIT to post-HIIT (P < 0.05), regardless of menstrual phase. Conclusions: The findings revealed that the menstrual cycle had a significant impact on psychophysiological responses. Moreover, HIIT could be adopted to improve motivation and depressive symptoms; however, further research is needed to explore the effects of HIIT across the menstrual cycle in women with clinical depression. Background/Objectives: Temporomandibular dysfunction syndrome consists of several disorders of the masticatory system, namely those of the muscles, the joint itself, as well as the dental and periodontal system. This syndrome is often characterized by pain and an inability to perform functions within the dental–maxillary apparatus, which creates a certain degree of disability in patients. Women are more susceptible to this syndrome than men and hormonal factors, particularly estrogen, are central to its etiology and physiopathology. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science databases regarding articles published from January 2008 to December 2023. Two authors conducted searches in the mentioned databases based on a pre-established search strategy using agreed-upon keywords. Additionally, each review author performed the selection process of eligible studies based on established inclusion criteria. The Newcastle–Ottawa scale and Risk of Bias tool 2 were used to assess each article for its methodological quality. Results: Of the 1030 records found in the four bibliographic databases, 22 studies were included in this review. Polymorphism in the alpha estrogen receptor appears to be significantly more prevalent in women with temporomandibular dysfunction, suggesting a genetic predisposition. There is a significant role of estrogen in the physiopathology of TMD-related pain. Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have a significantly higher incidence of TMD, accompanied by elevated inflammatory factors and decreased progesterone levels. In premenopausal women, there is scientific relevance to the association between beta-estradiol levels and TMD development and progression. The effects of estrogen hormones on temporomandibular dysfunction remain highly debated and challenging. Conclusions: These findings emphasize the importance of considering hormonal factors, genetic predisposition, and reproductive life stages in understanding and managing temporomandibular dysfunction. Objective: To evaluate whether or not immunization against COVID-19 is associated with changes in the duration and frequency of the menstrual cycle. Methods: This prospective analysis included the menstrual cycle data of 154 females after COVID-19 vaccination from August 2021 to March 2022. This study included Pakistani females aged 18 to 45 years and who had taken at-least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination. After two months of COVID vaccine the participants were interviewed again about the timing and duration of their menstrual cycle. The increase in menstrual length for >eight days was labelled as increased menstrual cycle duration. Results: Mean age of participants was 33.53±8.52 years. Among 154, 113 (73.4%) were married. Among 154 females, menstrual abnormality was reported by 59 (38.3%) females, increase in cycle duration was reported by 25 (16.2%) patients and decrease by 22 (14.3%), increase in number of bleeding days by 20 (13%) females and decrease by 15 (9.7%), increase in pain intensity was reported by 19 (12.3%) females and decrease by 17 (11.0%), increased intensity of blood flow was reported by 20 (13.0%) patients and decreased intensity by 19 (12.3%) females. Female genital mutilation (FGM/C) is the partial or total removal of external female genitalia for non-medical reasons and is recognized as a human rights violation. It is practiced in various ethnic groups around the world and is an expression of gender inequality. FGM/C is most prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa but has also spread to migrant communities in Europe, North America, and Australia. Spain has criminalized FGM/C and has implemented prevention measures in primary healthcare settings. However, there is a need to improve detection and address the physical and psychological consequences of FGM/C. An intersectional approach that considers the cultural, social, and structural factors influencing migrant women's choices is necessary to eliminate this harmful practice. This article discusses the prevalence of female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) among long-term sub-Saharan African migrants in Europe. FGS is a condition characterized by gynecological signs and symptoms, such as menstrual disturbances and vulvovaginal discomfort, that can occur in women with urinary Schistosoma haematobium infection. The study found that African migrant women with a positive Schistosoma serology often experienced gynecological and urinary complaints, despite living in non-endemic European countries for many years. The findings suggest that chronic genitourinary schistosomiasis may be an underestimated condition in non-endemic countries, with significant implications for the sexual and reproductive health of migrant women. Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with a wide range of unfavorable cardiometabolic risk factors, including obesity, hypertension, insulin resistance, impaired glucose metabolism, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. Compared with women with regular menstrual cycles, women with a history of irregular menstrual periods have an increased unfavorable cardiometabolic risk. Recently, the association between the severity of oligomenorrhea and hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance has been demonstrated. However, evidence linking the severity of menstrual cyclicity with cardiometabolic risk in PCOS women is scarce. Material and Methods: This work was a prospective cross‐sectional study. A total of 154 women diagnosed with PCOS by the Rotterdam criteria were recruited from July 2021 to September 2022. PCOS women with eumenorrheic (eumeno group), oligomenorrhea (oligo group), and amenorrhea (ameno group) underwent history and physical examination, gonadal steroid hormone measurement, lipid profile, oral glucose tolerance test, and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance. Results: A trend toward an increase in unfavorable cardiometabolic risk markers including obesity, hypertension, prevalence of insulin resistance, prediabetes, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome was observed in the ameno group (n = 57) as compared with the eumeno (n = 24) or oligo group (n = 73). A higher prevalence of insulin resistance (odds ratio [OR]: 3.02; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.03–8.81) and prediabetes (OR: 3.94; 95% CI: 1.01–15.40) was observed in the ameno group than in the eumeno group, and a higher proportion of dyslipidemia (OR: 2.44; 95% CI: 1.16–5.15) was observed in the ameno group than in the oligo group in the binary logistic regression analysis after adjusting for confounding factors. Conclusions: PCOS women with amenorrhea show a higher prevalence of insulin resistance, prediabetes, and dyslipidemia compared with those with oligomenorrhea or eumenorrhea. Background and Objective: During the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, over 34,000 reports of heavy menstrual bleeding following the administration of COVID-19 vaccines originating in the Economic European Area were submitted to EudraVigilance, the European Union database of suspected adverse drug reactions. More than 90% of these reports were sent by consumers while the remaining by healthcare professionals. Public concerns regarding menstruation disorders in COVID-19 vaccinees were also covered by the media. We investigated the impact of media attention on the reporting trends of heavy menstrual bleeding to EudraVigilance. Methods: We used media outlets published in the Economic European Area on menstrual disorders and COVID-19 vaccines from the beginning of the vaccination campaign in the Economic European Area (1 January, 2021) until December 2022 (i.e., after the regulatory request to add the adverse event to the product information) and spontaneous reports from EudraVigilance. Results: We found that the publication of safety updates from regulatory authorities and subsequent coverage in media outlets preceded increased reporting to EudraVigilance. Furthermore, the heavy menstrual bleeding reported in the cases occurred several weeks or months earlier and were not submitted to the respective date. The analysis suggests that the spikes in reporting of heavy menstrual bleeding were to some extent influenced by media coverage in some countries. Conclusions: Consumer reporting to the European Union spontaneous data collection system, EudraVigilance, was of high value for regulatory safety reviews, albeit the reporting behaviours were not free of the influence of the media. To describe the effects of estetrol (E4) 15 mg/drospirenone (DRSP) 3 mg on physical and emotional premenstrual and menstrual symptoms. We used Menstrual Distress Questionnaire (MDQ) data from a phase-3 trial (NCT02817828) in Europe and Russia with participants (18 − 50 years) using E4/DRSP for up to 13 cycles. We assessed mean changes in MDQ-t-scores from baseline to end of treatment in premenstrual (4 days before most recent flow) and menstrual (most recent flow) scores for 4 MDQ domains in starters and switchers (use of hormonal contraception in prior 3 months) and performed a shift analysis on individual symptoms within each domain. Of 1,553 treated participants, 1,398(90.0%), including 531(38%) starters, completed both MDQs. Starters reported improvements for premenstrual Pain (−1.4), Water Retention (−3.3) and Negative Affect (−2.5); and for menstrual Pain (−3.5), Water Retention (−3.4), and Negative Affect (−2.7) (all p < 0.01). For switchers, no changes were significant except an increase in premenstrual (+1.0, p = 0.02) and menstrual (+1.5, p = 0.003) Water Retention. We observed a change in symptom intensity in >40% of participants for Cramps, Backache and Fatigue (domain Pain), Painful or Tender Breast and Swelling (domain Water Retention) and Mood Swings and Irritability (domain Negative Affect). E4/DRSP starters experienced significant improvements in the domains Pain, Water Retention and Negative Affect particularly benefiting those with more severe baseline symptoms. Switchers showed minimal changes. A phase 3 study in Europe and Russia showed that Estetrol/Drospirenone, a new combined oral contraceptive, significantly improved the MDQ scores for domains Pain, Water Retention and Negative Affect in women starting COC use, while switchers showed minimal changes. Thin endometrium (TE) compromises endometrial receptivity, often leading to implantation failure and lower clinical pregnancy rates. As autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) emerges as a potential remedy, the present study focused on its therapeutic effects on TE in infertile women who underwent frozen embryo transfer. Patients with TE who underwent frozen embryo transfer treatment in our hospital were included. To diminish individual variability, a self-controlled series approach was used. Two menstrual study cycles were arranged for each participant before the actual embryo transfer cycle; PRP treatment was conducted in the second cycle. Key metrics analyzed included endometrial thickness and the expression of specific endometrial biomarkers including HOXA-10, Ki67, and αvβ3 integrin. Transvaginal ultrasound was employed to measure endometrial thickness on Days 11 and 14, and an endometrial biopsy was conducted on progesterone Day 5 of the first two cycles. Pregnancy outcomes were observed after the embryo transfer cycle. PRP treatment significantly increased the median endometrial thickness, from 5.8 mm to 6.5 mm (P = 0.0066). Additionally, PRP treatment resulted in a statistically significant increase in the H-score for all endometrial markers. Importantly, during the subsequent embryo transfer cycle with PRP treatment, two patients successfully achieved pregnancies, both culminating in live births. The consistency and duration of the menstrual cycle exhibit significant associations with specific psychiatric conditions throughout an individual’s lifespan. The proposed methodology surveys the relationship between psychiatric disorders and the length or regularity of the menstrual cycle and analyzes the difficulties undergone by the women. A comprehensive dataset is generated and a mathematical model using an exploratory data analytics approach is developed, in order to establish a correlation between these variables. Despite the importance of menstruation and the menstrual cycle to health, human rights, and sociocultural and economic wellbeing, the study of menstrual health suffers from a lack of funding, and research remains fractured across many disciplines. We sought to systematically review validated approaches to measure four aspects of changes to the menstrual cycle—bleeding, blood, pain, and perceptions—caused by any source and used within any field. We then evaluated the measure quality and utility for clinical trials of the identified instruments. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, and four instrument databases and included peer-reviewed articles published between 2006 and 2023 that reported on the development or validation of instruments assessing menstrual changes using quantitative or mixed-methods methodology. From a total of 8,490 articles, 8,316 were excluded, yielding 174 articles reporting on 94 instruments. Almost half of articles were from the United States or United Kingdom and over half of instruments were only in English, Spanish, French, or Portuguese. Most instruments measured bleeding parameters, uterine pain, or perceptions, but few assessed characteristics of blood. Nearly 60% of instruments were developed for populations with menstrual or gynecologic disorders or symptoms. Most instruments had fair or good measure quality or clinical trial utility; however, most instruments lacked evidence on responsiveness, question sensitivity and/or transferability, and only three instruments had good scores of both quality and utility. Although we took a novel, transdisciplinary approach, our systematic review found important gaps in the literature and instrument landscape, pointing towards a need to examine the menstrual cycle in a more comprehensive, inclusive, and standardized way. Our findings can inform the development of new or modified instruments, which—if used across the many fields that study menstrual health and within clinical trials—can contribute to a more systemic and holistic understanding of menstruation and the menstrual cycle. Background: Nutrition is important to the management and relief of the symptoms in menstrual disorders. This study aims to investigate the relationship between menstrual disorders and specific foods and nutrient intake in women. Methods: Five-hundred-nine menstruating women participated in the study. The questionnaire form was created by the researchers via Google Forms and distributed in online applications (WhatsApp, Instagram etc.). The questionnaire consists of 5 sections, including demographic data, declared anthropometric measurements (height (m or cm), weight (g or kg)), questions about eating habits, menstruation status, and 24-hour food consumption. Statistical analysis was made with SPSS 23; nutrient analysis of food consumption was made using BeBiS 9.0. Results: It was found that the body mass index (BMI) of healthy participants was higher than women with menstrual disorders. Women with menstrual disorders have lower intake of protein, vitamin K, vitamin B3, vitamin B5 and sodium compared with healthy women. All participants have a higher intake of vitamin B3, sodium, phosphorus, and manganese, and have a lower intake of other nutrients compared with the national adequate intake. Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disorder with rising incidence in Malaysia. The phenotype of PCOS is based on patients' clinical and biochemical characteristics. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the phenotype classification and the main risk factor for PCOS in women attending infertility treatment at the Subfertility Clinic, National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB). Materials and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among women undergoing infertility treatment at the Subfertility Clinic of NPFDB from January 2018 to December 2019. The women underwent physical examination, had their menstrual history recorded, and were diagnosed with PCOS based on Rotterdam criteria. Meanwhile, blood was taken for lipid, glucose and reproductive hormone analysis. Results: A total of 84 women who attended for infertility treatment were diagnosed with PCOS. The findings showed that the majority of PCOS women were diagnosed with PCOS phenotype D. PCOS women exhibited notable characteristics, including significantly increased body mass index (BMI), increased blood pressure, menstrual irregularities, polycystic ovaries and hirsutism. Elevated levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone were observed in PCOS women, while follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and progesterone levels were significantly diminished. Moreover, PCOS women manifested lower levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and increased 2-hour postprandial glucose levels compared to the control group. Interestingly, progesterone levels showed a statistically significant relationship with PCOS, whereby high progesterone levels decrease the risk of PCOS development (odds ratio [OR], 0.793; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.638-0.987, p<0.05). Conclusion: PCOS women who came for infertility treatment in Subfertility Clinic, NPFDB were predominantly phenotype D, had low progesterone levels and presented anovulation problems with polycystic ovaries, and these characteristics are risk factors for PCOS. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), affecting 1–11% of reproductive-age women, is characterised by many symptoms that cause important concerns especially in young adults. This study aimed to evaluate the concerns about fertility, social appearance, and relationships in young adults with PCOS. This descriptive study included 140 young female adults aged 18–26, who were diagnosed with PCOS, agreed to participate in the onlineresearch through social media between July and December 2022 in Turkey. Data were collected using the 'Participant Interview Form' and the "Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS). The mean age of the participants was 22.1 ± 2.1. As the most common symptoms, 78.6% experienced menstrual irregularities, 16.4% were overweight, 7.1% were obese, 67.1% had hirsutism and 65.7% had acne. Most of the participants expressed concerns about future infertility (72.9%), and worried about being unable to conceive due to PCOS in the future (sometimes = 61.4%). Over eighty percent of the participants expressed some level of dissatisfaction with their physical appearance. They commonly believe that their self-esteem, emotionalstate, social relationships and partner relationships could be negatively affected by PCOS. SAAS scores were significantly increased by low income, high BMI, hirsutism, dissatisfaction with physicalappearance, low self-esteem, emotional problems and concerns related to social and partner relationships (p < 0.05). Young adults have common concerns about the potential negative impacts of PCOS on fertility, social appearance, and relationships. Affiliated athletes are frequently subject to higher levels of anxiety due to the intensity of training, competition and many other factors. This anxiety can cause alterations in their health, both physically and mentally, such as menstrual irregularities, eating disorders, etc. In this work we have analysed the anxiety levels of a population of female affiliated paddlers and the possible consequences for their health. The results showed that a third of the female paddlers analysed have a moderate/high risk of suffering from anxiety; and within this group, the less sporting experience the athlete has, the greater the probability is of suffering from anxiety. Moreover, almost half the total of the female paddlers suffers from menstrual dysfunction before an important competition, with this number rising among high performance athletes, even though three out of every four adjust their training schedule to their menstrual cycle. Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in reproductive‐age women. This systematic review, meta‐analysis, and meta‐regression aims to compare the effect of insulin sensitizer pharmacotherapy on metabolic and reproductive outcomes in women with PCOS and overweight or obesity. We searched online databases MEDLINE via OVID, EMBASE, Clinicaltrials.gov, and EudraCT for trials published from inception to November 13, 2023. Inclusion criteria were double‐blind, randomized controlled trials in women diagnosed with PCOS, body mass index (BMI) ≥ 25 kg/m2, which reported metabolic or reproductive outcomes. The intervention was insulin sensitization pharmacotherapy versus placebo or other agents. The primary outcomes were changes from baseline BMI, fasting blood glucose, and menstrual frequency. Nineteen studies were included in this review. Metformin had the most significant effect on the fasting plasma glucose and body mass index. Insulin sensitizer pharmacotherapy significantly reduced fasting plasma glucose, body mass index, fasting serum insulin, HOMA‐IR, sex hormone binding globulin, and total testosterone, but the effect size was small. There was a lack of menstrual frequency and live birth data. The results indicate a role for insulin sensitizers in improving the metabolic and, to a lesser degree, reproductive profile in these women. Background: Following COVID-19 vaccination, some women suffered from menstrual cycle disturbances. This study aimed to investigate menstrual cycle disturbances after COVID-19 vaccination in women of reproductive age. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 407 vaccinated women in the vaccination center of Imam Hossein Hospital (Tehran, Iran) between October 2021 and October 2022. They were interviewed based on a research-made checklist which consisted of two areas of questions about the baseline characteristics of participants and menstrual cycle characteristics to explore menstrual characteristics following COVID-19 vaccination. Results: The prevalence of menstrual disturbances was higher after the third dose (38.3%) compared with the second (27.9%) and first (17.7%) doses (P<0.001). After the first dose, a history of polycystic ovarian syndrome [PCOS, odds ratio (OR)=7.35, 95% confidential interval (CI)= (3.64-14.82), P<0.001] and menstrual disturbances with unknown etiology [OR=15.23, 95% CI=(6.30-36.80), P<0.001] could predict menstrual disturbances. After the second dose, a history of menstrual disturbances with unknown etiology [OR=3.83, 95% CI=(1.47-9.94), P=0.006] and menstrual disturbances after the first dose [OR=201.96, 95% CI= (40.99-994.90), P<0.001] were predictors of menstrual disturbances. After the third dose, a history of menstrual disturbances with unknown etiology [OR=3.09, 95% CI= (1.00-9.52), P=0.048], menstrual disturbances after the first [OR=9.82, 95% CI=(1.38-69.69), P=0.022] and second [OR=7.83, 95% CI=(1.46-41.92), P=0.016] doses could predict menstrual disturbances. Conclusion: We detected that many women experienced various menstrual disturbances after vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2). Furthermore, a history of menstrual abnormalities (before COVID-19 vaccination and following the previous doses of these vaccines) was associated with developing menstrual disturbances. Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of subcutaneous injection of triamcinolone acetonide (SCTA) in treating upper eyelid retraction and swelling in patients with thyroid eye disease (TED). Patients and Methods: This case series included consecutive patients (aged 16– 69 years, monitored from June 2012 to December 2015) with TED-related eyelid symptom and without an enlarged extraocular muscle on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). SCTA (0.5 mL, 40 mg/mL) was administered to target the orbital fat around the levator palpebrae superioris (LPS) muscle. Patients who did not exhibit improvement after the first trial received an additional injection. Follow-up was conducted for 12 months with 3-month intervals. Eyelid retraction, eyelid swelling, and eyelid lag were evaluated at each follow-up visit. Results: In total, 116 eyelids of 102 patients were analyzed. SCTA led to significant improvement in 93% of eyes (108/116), disappearance of eyelid symptoms (74%, 87%, and 73% in retraction, swelling, and lag, respectively), and improvement of scores (from 1.64 to 0.12, 1.32 to 0.26, and 1.72 to 0.30, respectively). Improvement in eyelid symptoms was observed in eight eyes; however, additional steroid therapy was required in these cases due to the emergence of other extraocular muscle inflammation. Additional injection was required in 39.8% of patients. The clinical activity score was lower in the single SCTA group than in the multiple SCTA group (1.5 vs 0.9; p < 0.01). However, the levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody and MRI findings were not significantly different between the two groups. No elevation in intraocular pressure was observed. Eight female patients experienced menstrual disorder. Conclusion: SCTA effectively reduced LPS muscle enlargement and fat tissue swelling in patients with TED. A single SCTA was sufficient in almost 60% of the patients; nevertheless, follow-up is necessary to detect early signs of orbital inflammation even in eyelid-symptom-improved patients. Objective: To compare clinical measures between patients with chronic exertional compartment syndrome (CECS) and healthy controls and evaluate running biomechanics, physical measurements, and exertional intracompartmental (ICP) changes in adolescent athletes with lower leg CECS. Design: Cross-sectional case-control study. Setting: Large tertiary care hospital and affiliated injury prevention center. Participants: Forty-nine adolescents with CECS (39 F, 10 M; age: 16.9 ± 0.8 years; body mass index (BMI): 23.1 ± 2.9 kg/m²; symptom duration: 8 ± 12 months) were compared with 49 healthy controls (39 F, 10 M; age: 6.9 ± 0.8 years; BMI: 20.4 ± 3.7 kg/m²). Interventions: All participants underwent gait analyses on a force plate treadmill and clinical lower extremity strength and range of motion testing. Patients with chronic exertional compartment syndrome underwent Stryker monitor ICP testing. Main outcome measures: Symptoms, menstrual history, and ICP pressures of the patients with CECS using descriptive statistics. Mann-Whitney U and χ² analyses were used to compare CECS with healthy patients for demographics, clinical measures, and gait biomechanics continuous and categorical outcomes, respectively. For patients with CECS, multiple linear regressions analyses were used to assess associations between gait biomechanics, lower extremity strength and range of motion, and with ICP measures. Results: The CECS group demonstrated higher mass-normalized peak ground reaction force measures (xBW) compared with controls (0.21 ± 0.05 xBW ( P < 0.001) and were more likely to have impact peak at initial contact ( P = 0.04). Menstrual dysfunction was independently associated with higher postexertion ICP (ß = 14.6; P = 0.02). Conclusions: The CECS group demonstrated increased total force magnitude and vertical impact transient peaks. In women with CECS, menstrual dysfunction was independently associated with increased postexertion ICP. These biomechanical and physiological attributes may play a role in the development of CECS. Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is the most common serious complication of very preterm infants (VPI) or very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. Studies implicate viral infections in etiopathogenesis. The aim of this study was to summarize the relationship between viral infections and BPD through a systematic review and meta-analysis. We searched PubMed, Embase, the Web of Science Core Collection, and the Cochrane Database on December 19, 2023. We included observational studies that examined the association between viral infections and BPD in preterm infants. We extracted data on study methods, participant characteristics, exposure assessment, and outcome measures. We assessed study risk of bias using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). We included 17 and 15 studies in the qualitative review and meta-analysis, respectively. The meta-analysis showed a significant association between viral infection and BPD diagnosed at 36 weeks postmenstrual age (odds ratio (OR): 2.42, 95% confidence interval: 1.89–3.09, 13 studies, very low certainty of evidence). In a subgroup analysis of specific viruses, cytomegalovirus (CMV) proved to be significantly associated with BPD diagnosed at 36 weeks postmenstrual age (OR: 2.34, 95% confidence interval: 1.80–3.05, 11 studies). We did not find an association between viral infection and BPD diagnosed on the 28th day of life, probably due to the small sample size of the included prospective studies. Conclusion: Viral infections, especially CMV, are associated with an increased risk of BPD in preterm infants. Methodologically reliable prospective studies with large samples are needed to validate our conclusions, and high-quality randomized controlled studies are needed to explore the effect of prevention or treatment of viral infections on the incidence of BPD. What is Known: • Studies have attempted to identify viral infections and bronchopulmonary dysplasia in preterm infants; however, results have been inconsistent. Aim: To examine whether antenatal diagnosis modifies relationships between neonatal brain volumes and 18‐month neurodevelopmental outcomes in children with transposition of the great arteries (TGA). Method: In a retrospective cohort of 139 children with TGA (77 antenatally diagnosed), we obtained total brain volumes (TBVs) on pre‐ (n = 102) and postoperative (n = 112) magnetic resonance imaging. Eighteen‐month neurodevelopmental outcomes were assessed using the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Third Edition. Generalized estimating equations with interaction terms were used to determine whether antenatal diagnosis modified associations between TBVs and neurodevelopmental outcomes accounting for postmenstrual age at scan, brain injury, and ventricular septal defect. Results: Infants with postnatal diagnosis had more preoperative hypotension (35% vs 14%, p = 0.004). The interactions between antenatal diagnosis and TBVs were significantly related to cognitive (p = 0.003) outcomes. Specifically, smaller TBVs were associated with lower cognitive scores in infants diagnosed postnatally; this association was attenuated in those diagnosed antenatally. Interpretation: Antenatal diagnosis modifies associations between neonatal brain volume and 18‐month cognitive outcome in infants with TGA. These findings suggest that antenatal diagnosis may be neuroprotective, possibly through improved preoperative clinical status. These data highlight the need to improve antenatal diagnosis rates. Background: The role of bacterial contamination in the development and progression of endometriosis lesions is currently a hot topic for gynecologists. In this study, we decided to compare the endometrial cultures of women affected by endometriosis with those of non-endometriotic women, focusing on specific microbial pathogens. Material and method: In this cross-sectional case-control study, 30 women with endometriosis in stages 4 of the disease whose endometriosis was confirmed based on clinical, ultrasound, and histopathological findings, and 30 women without endometriosis who were candidates for surgery due to benign uterine diseases with regular menstrual cycle, underwent endometrial biopsy with Novak Kort in sterile conditions before starting their operation, and the results of their endometrial culture were analyzed and compared. Results: Results of the study indicate that there were no significant differences in terms of age, BMI, smoking, education level, place of residency, use of the intrauterine device, or vaginal douche, and age of menarche between the case and control groups. The only demographic difference observed was in parity, where the control group had a significantly higher parity than the case group (P = 0.001). Out of the 60 cultures, only 15 samples were positive in the endometriosis group, and E. coli was the most prevalent species, with 10 (33.3%) samples testing positive for it. Klebsiella spp. and Enterobacteria spp. were also detected in 3 (10.0%) and 2 (6.7%) samples, respectively. The comparison between the two groups showed that only E. coli had a significant association with the presence of endometriosis (P = 0.001). There was no significant relationship between the location of endometriosis in the pelvic cavity and culture results. It was observed that parity among the E. coli negative group was significantly higher compared to the E. coli positive group (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Based on The high occurrence of E. coli in women with endometriosis, along with its potential involvement in the progression and/or recurrence of this condition, the researchers propose that treating women with endometriosis and recurrent IVF failure, as well as those with endometriosis recurrence after surgical treatment, with suitable antibiotics and repeated culture until the culture becomes negative, could be beneficial. Background: Period poverty is a significant issue that impacts the physical and psychological well-being of menstruators worldwide which can further contribute to poor mental health outcomes. For menstruators living in refugee camps, access to menstrual hygiene products is often limited or non-existent, leading to increased anxiety, shame, and embarrassment. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the prevalence of the period poverty and to comprehensively analyze the association between period poverty, reusing menstrual products, and depressive symptoms among menstruators living in refugee camps in Jordan. Methods: A cross-sectional study surveyed refugee menstruators living in camps in Jordan, aged post-menarche to pre-menopause. Data collection included socio-demographics, menstrual practices, and depressive symptoms using the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Period poverty was assessed through affordability and frequency of struggles with menstrual products. Chi-squared test, independent sample t-test, One Way Analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Post hoc, and logistic regression models were used in the analysis. Results: The study included a diverse sample of 386 refugee menstruators living in camps in Jordan (mean age 32.43 ± 9.95, age range 13–55). Period poverty was highly prevalent, with 42.0% reporting monthly struggles to afford menstrual products, and 71.5% reusing menstrual products. Univariate analysis revealed that experiencing period poverty was significantly associated with a younger age of marriage, increased number of children, lower education level, lower mother and father education levels, unemployment, decreased monthly income, absence of health insurance, lower reuse need score, and increased PHQ-9 score (p < 0.05). Menstruators experiencing monthly period poverty were 2.224 times more likely to report moderate to severe depression compared to those without period poverty (95% CI 1.069–4.631, P = 0.033). Conclusion: This study highlights a significant association between period poverty and depressive symptoms among refugee menstruators in living in camps in Jordan, as high rates of period poverty were associated with a 2.2-fold increased likelihood of reporting moderate to severe depression. Objective: To investigate the effect of gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) pretreatment combined with high intensity focused ultrasound in the treatment of adenomyosis. Methods: 298 patients with adenomyosis admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to May 2021 were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group using a random number table method, with 149 patients in each group. The control group received high intensity focused ultrasound treatment, while the experimental group received GnRH-a pretreatment, after 2 consecutive menstrual cycles, high intensity focused ultrasound treatment was combined. Both groups were followed up for 2 years after treatment. The lesion volume, uterine volume, menstrual volume, pain level, levels of hormones, serum cytokine before and 3 months after treatment, adverse reactions during treatment, recurrence and pregnancy outcomes during followed up between the two groups were compared. Results: Compared with before treatment, after 3 months of treatment, the lesion volume and uterine volume of the two groups decreased, experimental group was smaller(P<0.05); the menstrual volume, score of numeric rating scale (NRS), serum levels of estradiol (E2), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and transforming growth factor β2(TGF-β2), vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) of the two groups decreased, the experimental group compared to the control group was lower (P<0.05); the level of serum adiponectin (ADP) increased in both groups, experimental group was higher (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of sacrococcygeal pain, radiating pain, lower abdominal pain, and irregular vaginal bleeding between the experimental group and the control group during the treatment period(P>0.05); the recurrence rate and abortion rate during the followed up period in the experimental group were 6.04% and 10.58%, respectively, lower than the control group's 17.45% and 35.21% (P<0.05); the clinical pregnancy rate during the followed up period in the experimental group was 69.80%, which was higher than 47.65% in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: GnRH-a pretreatment combined with high intensity focused ultrasound could regulate levels of hormone and serum cytokine in patients with adenomyosis, reduce lesion volume and uterine volume, reduce menstrual flow, alleviate pain, and improve pregnancy outcomes, with good safety. Sclerosing Stromal Tumor (SST) is a relatively rare sex cord stromal tumor with only a hand full of cases reported in the literature till now. Due to its unique benign nature with nil recurrence rate, it is essential to diagnose this entity and differentiate it from the non-neoplastic and malignant lesions of the ovary. Here, we report a case of SST in a young female who presented with irregular menstruation and abdominal distension. A combined approach involving clinical suspiciousness, radiological, histopathological and immunohistochemistry findings helped us to arrive the diagnosis of this extremely rare entity, which aided in the effective management of the patient. Background Menstrual cycle irregularities and anovulation have been found to occur with increased frequency in women who deviate considerably from normal weight. Ovulation abnormalities may also be caused by fluctuations in weight, such as being overweight, obese, or underweight, which are hypothesized to disrupt the energy balance. Objectives The aim of this study was to find out the association between menstrual patterns and body mass index (BMI) among students of selected health science university. Materials and Methods A descriptive research study was conducted among 222 university students at a selected health science university in Mangalore. The samples were selected by using simple random sampling techniques. A demographic proforma, self-reported menstrual pattern questionnaire, and anthropometric measurements like height and weight were measured. BMI was calculated by using the standardized formula, BMI= (weight [kg]/height [m 2 ]) by the World Health Organization for the Asian population based on the revised consensus guidelines for India. Students who are aged between 17 and 25 years, unmarried female students who are studying under Yenepoya (deemed to be university), attained menarche, and who are willing to participate in the study were included in the study. Results From this study, it can be considered that the mean age of menarche was 12.49 ± 0.51years. Most 68.5% students reported dysmenorrhea. It is the most common menstrual disorder among our study subjects. Of the total subjects, 38.3% cases had oligomenorrhea, which was the next most common menstrual disorder. The majority of the subjects has a normal BMI, with a mean of 21.02 kg/m 2. There is a significant association between dysmenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, and polymenorrhagia with BMI status of university students at 0.05 level significance. Conclusion Lifestyle modification and nutritional counselling for female students could alleviate menstrual problems. It will not only improve the girls' current health, sense of well-being, and overall quality of life but may also lower her risks for future disease and ill health after proper advice about diet and exercise. Aim Methods Results Conclusion To clarify the diagnostic process of the causative disease of abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) in Japan according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics AUB diagnostic system.Patients diagnosed with AUB were included in a nationwide survey of AUB conducted during any 2‐week period between December 2019 and January 2020. The second survey included information on patient background, AUB symptoms, examinations for diagnosing AUB, the order in which they were performed, and the causative diseases of AUB.Correspondence analysis showed an association between hormonal testing, hysterosalpingography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with amenorrhea, and heavy menstrual bleeding was strongly correlated with various examinations, such as coagulation tests, pelvic MRI, and endometrial cytology or biopsy. The results also indicated that each AUB causative disease can be diagnosed based on a specific examination profile.We clarified the process of diagnosing the causative disease of AUB in our country and determined that it was mainly diagnosed by imaging and pathological examination in cases of structural disease. The high rate of AUB‐E and the low rate of AUB‐C are possibly associated with specific examination trends in Japan. Objective: Underdiagnosis of female genital tuberculosis (FGTB) often leads to infertility. In this study, we aimed to determine the site and histopathologic patterns of FGTB and its correlation with clinical presentation and acid-fast bacilli (AFB) status. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 122 patients with a histopathological diagnosis of FGTB at the Department of Pathology, College of Health Sciences (CHS), Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH), Addis Ababa University (AAU), from January 1, 2013, to August 30, 2022. Results: Female genital tuberculosis was found in 0.94% of the gynecology specimens examined. The most common presentations were menstrual disturbance, abdominopelvic pain, and infertility. Among patients with FGTB, 4.6% exhibited misleading clinical and radiologic findings, leading to suspicion of malignancy and subsequent aggressive surgical management. The endometrium was the most frequently affected organ, followed by the fallopian tube, ovary, cervix, and vulva. In the majority of tuberculous endometritis cases (53.3%), histopathology revealed early-stage granulomas. Acid-fast bacilli were found in a significant proportion (42.6%) of FGTB tissues with TB histopathology. The ovary had the highest rate of AFB detection, followed by the fallopian tube, endometrium, and cervix. Conclusion: Female genital tuberculosis should be considered in reproductive-age women presenting with menstrual irregularities, abdominopelvic pain, infertility, or an abdominopelvic mass. Our study aims to evaluate clinical predictors of menstrual cycle disorders in female athletes who compete in running disciplines. This is a prospective observational study. Women were recruited between January and May 2022. Fifty-three patients were enrolled and completed a questionnaire about menstrual cycle, physical activity, and food habit characteristics. Of the women in our population, 39.6% had menstrual irregularities and reported a significantly higher number of kilometers run per week (67 vs. 35, p:0.02). The number of kilometers run per week was associated with menstrual irregularities (for 10 km, OR 1.35; IC95% 1.05–1.73; p: 0.02) after adjusting for BMI, age, level of sport and caloric intake. The variable of "km run per week" appeared as a diagnostic indicator of irregular menstrual cycle with statistical significance (AUC ROC curve 0.71, IC95% 0.54–0.86, p-value=0.01) and the cut-off of 65 km run per week is a good indicator of the presence of irregular menstrual cycle (sensitivity (SE) and specificity (SP) of 55% and 81.48%). Menstrual cycle disorders are very frequent in female athletes, and the variable of km run per week may play a role in screening endurance athletes at high risk for these disorders. The association between covid-19 vaccine and menstrual disturbance is unclear. An in-person cross-sectional survey among female members ≥ 18 years enrolled in an ongoing Zero TB prospective cohort in Northern India who had received one or two doses of covid-19 vaccine was conducted to study the characteristics and association of menstrual disturbance within six months of receiving Covishield. Between June 29 and September 5, 2021, 339 females ≥ 18 years of age were administered the survey. Median age was 30 (IQR: 22–39) years; 84 % were between 18 and 49 and 16 % were ≥ 50 years old. There were 152 college students, 27 healthcare workers, and 160 nuns. Forty-two women (12 %) had received one dose and 297 (88 %) had received two doses of Covishield. Overall, 66 (20 %) women reported experiencing menstrual disturbance after receiving Covishield vaccine. The problems included early menstruation: 6 % (n = 19/339); late menstruation: 4 % (n = 14/339); and heavier bleeding: 5 % (n = 17/339). Disturbances lasted for less than seven days and cycles normalized in 1–3 months. There was no post-menopausal bleeding. There was no significant difference in menstrual disturbance based on receiving one vs. two doses of Covishield (OR: 1.58; 95 % CI: 0.55–4.57; p = 0.381). History of SARS-CoV-2 infection was not associated with the development of menstrual disturbance among the vaccinees (OR: 0.63; 95 % CI: 0.24–1.73; p = 0.379). Presence of emotional disturbance at baseline (OR: 31; 95 % CI: 3.52–267; p = 0.002) or previous history of dysmenorrhea (OR: 41; 95 % CI: 8.7–196; p < 0.001) was associated with menstrual disturbance in the vaccinees, indicating their potential to confound or bias study results. Menstrual problems were reported by Covishield vaccinees, but they were minor and reversible within three months and do not constitute a ground for vaccine hesitancy. Physique competitions are weight-sensitive sports in which stage presentation, aesthetic appearance and posing ability of the athletes are judged rather than physical performance. The aim of this study was to assess low energy availability among female physique athletes by using the LEAF-Q. The study involved 104 females who were physique athletes. Monthly cycle disorders were reported in 58.65% of the women, that is periods stopped for three consecutive months or longer (amenorrhea). This situation occurred before the research was conducted in 43.27% of athletes and during the research in 15.38%. The physique athletes claimed that menstruation changes occurred when there was an increased exercise intensity, frequency or duration. Absence from training due to injury was reported by 27.88% of the women. The LEAF-Q identified 46.15% of the physique athletes as at risk (score ≥ 8) of low energy availability and the physiological consequences related to RED-S. Women who had menstrual cycle disorders were younger and did more training per week. Among women with menstrual disorders, cramps or stomach ache which cannot be related to menstruation occurred more frequently (p = 0.004). Absence from training or lack of participation in competition due to injuries occurred more frequently in the score ≥ 8 group (p = 0.024) thank the ≤ score 8 group. In the score ≥ 8 group menstruation changes, that is less bleeding or cessation of menstruation (p = 0.035), occurred more frequently when there was an increase in exercise intensity, frequency or duration (p = 0.002). Fatigue, an increasingly acknowledged symptom in various chronic diseases, has garnered heightened attention, during the medical era of bio-psycho-social model. Its persistence not only significantly compromises an individual's quality of life but also correlates with chronic organ damage. Surprisingly, the intricate relationship between fatigue and female reproductive health, specifically infertility, remains largely unexplored. Our exploration into the existing body of evidence establishes a compelling link between fatigue with uterine and ovarian diseases, as well as conditions associated with infertility, such as rheumatism. This observation suggests a potentially pivotal role of fatigue in influencing overall female fertility. Furthermore, we propose a hypothetical mechanism elucidating the impact of fatigue on infertility from multiple perspectives, postulating that neuroendocrine, neurotransmitter, inflammatory immune, and mitochondrial dysfunction resulting from fatigue and its co-factors may further contribute to endocrine disorders, menstrual irregularities, and sexual dysfunction, ultimately leading to infertility. In addition to providing this comprehensive theoretical framework, we summarize anti-fatigue strategies and accentuate current knowledge gaps. By doing so, our aim is to offer novel insights, stimulate further research, and advance our understanding of the crucial interplay between fatigue and female reproductive health. Background: Uterine artery embolization is proven to be an effective treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroids. Yet, its role in the management of dysfunctional uterine bleeding is still debatable. Patients with dysfunctional uterine bleeding have abnormal bleeding from the uterine vascular bed with variable underlying mechanisms. Uterine artery embolization will reduce/prevent bleeding by occlusion of the vascular bed, with subsequent cutoff of the effect of hormones on the endometrium. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the safety, efficacy and possible short-term complications of uterine artery embolization in the treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) as a first-line treatment modality rather than the current treatment options (hormonal and surgical treatment). Methods: Thirty patients included in the study were clinically and laboratory diagnosed based on FIGO classification system (PALM-COEIN) as DUB, and the diagnosis was confirmed by MRI imaging. All patients were subjected to transcatheter uterine artery embolization with subsequent clinical and radiological follow-up to assess the treatment outcome. Results: Uterine artery embolization was able to control bleeding in patients diagnosed as DUB, with subsequent complete cessation of medical treatment; no surgical interference was needed with much less morbidity. We had 93.3% improvement in the frequency, volume of bleeding and 100% improvement of the presenting anemia. No significant change in uterine volume or in endometrial thickness has been noted. Conclusions: Uterine artery embolization is safe, effective procedure to control dysfunctional uterine bleeding with the preservation of the uterus especially in critical age groups. Endometriosis, a chronic condition affecting women worldwide, remains a complex and enigmatic disease. Despite its appearance and debilitating symptoms, the lack of sufficient information about endometriosis often leads to misconceptions and stigmatization of women. This literature review aims to shed light on the phenomenon of stigma surrounding endometriosis and its profound impact on the mental health of affected women. The search for relevant literature was conducted in the databases PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus. Inclusion criteria for the studies were as follows: patients with endometriosis, exploration of the phenomenon of stigma in this sample, qualitative or quantitative design, publication after 2000, and written in English. Out of the total of 478 articles identified from the three databases, 6 articles met the inclusion criteria for this literature review. The review's findings indicate that women with endometriosis encounter stigma from an early age, extending from their school years into adulthood. Employers and family members often question the severity of their pain, while menstrual pain is unjustly normalized as something women should endure. The impact of this stigma and criticism on the mental health of these women is profound, leading to feelings of despair, social exclusion, and even suicidal thoughts. Background & objective: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder of the reproductive aged women, which may affect fertility of these women from 14-45 y of age. Neuregulin-1 (NRG-1) is a trophic factor that contains an epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domain, and has been shown to be associated with the regulation of inflammation and ovulation. We evaluated the role of NRG-1 and its relationship with hormonal and lipid profile in women with PCOS. Methodology: This was a case-control study which included 60 women, known to be suffering from PCOS and another 60 age-matched women, who had regular menstrual cycle, as a control group. Blood samples were collected from Infertility Clinic/ Al-Yarmouk Teaching Hospital. Hormonal and lipid profiles were measured using standard methods. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to measure serum level of NRG-1. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of NRG-1. Results: The median serum level of neuregulin in patients was 2.73 pg/mL (range = 1.13-7.39 pg/mL) which was higher than that of controls (median = 2.1 pg/mL, range = 0.33-7.39 pg/mL) with a significant difference the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.652, 95%CI = 0.545-0.758, P = 0.008. The sensitivity and specificity of the test at cut off value of NRG-1 = 2.25 were 62% and 52%, respectively. Neuregulin-1 displayed a significant negative correlation with anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) (r = -0.324, P = 0.038). Conclusions: Serum level of neuregulin-1 is increased in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome, but has a poor diagnostic value, and its negative correlation with anti-Müllerian hormone. Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. PCOS is characterized by the presence of polycystic ovaries, menstrual dysfunction, infertility, and biochemical and clinical hyperandrogenism. The objective of this study was to evaluate the serum vitamin D Level and Insulin Resistance in Obese Adolescents with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The study was a cross-sectional study conducted among 94 PCOS women of reproductive age coming to the Department of Endocrinology & Metabolism of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The women with polycystic ovary syndrome were considered as the study population. Among the participants, around 91% had vitamin D deficiency and 4% had vitamin D insufficiency, no participants had a sufficiency. Among PCOS patients underweight was 42.10%, Healthy Weight 45.27%, pre-obese 9.63%, and obese 3.0%. Regarding fasting insulin levels (<20uIU/ml) among 14.9% of PCOS. In the comparison of clinical characteristics of the participants, less than half (37.2%) had painful menstruation and 67% had hirsutism. Adolescent girls with PCOS are mostly vitamin D deficient and the rate of obesity is also high. The results of this study brought the true picture of insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome among different phenotypes of women with PCOS in Bangladesh, very likely contributing to a better understanding of the management of PCOS, and patients will benefit individually in their management. Objective: Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) is a disorder characterized by impaired ovarian function. Sleep disorders are disruptions of the circadian rhythm, which appears to be closely linked to reproductive systems. This study aimed to investigate the impact of poor sleep quality on the ovarian reserve of childbearing-age women. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in China from June 2021 to March 2023. In total, 102 participants diagnosed with chronic insomnia disorder were included in the study. Questionnaires were administered to assess participants' menstrual patterns, insomnia severity, anxiety, and depression. The anti-Müllerian hormone level and the basal antral follicle count were measured for ovarian reserve evaluation. Correlation analysis and ordinal logistic regression analysis were conducted. Results: The women with insomnia presented high percentages of hypomenorrhea, premenstrual syndrome, and dysmenorrhea (78.4%, 74.5%, and 46.1%, respectively). Severe sleep disorder in the past month was identified as an independent risk factor for hypomenorrhea and premenstrual syndrome (odds ratio [OR], 2.64 and OR, 2.688; p<0.05). The prevalence of DOR among women with insomnia (33.3%) was significantly higher than the average reported in previous studies for young women. Insomnia duration exceeding 1 year was determined to be an independent risk factor for DOR in women aged 36 to 40 years (OR, 4.5; p=0.033). Conclusion: This study highlights the association between sleep disorders and menstrual problems. The pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease differs significantly between females and males concerning the effect of sex hormones. Estrogen and progestogen impact cardiovascular system through genomic and non-genomic effects. Before menopause, cardiovascular protective effects of estrogens have been well described. Progestogens were often used in combination with estrogens in hormone therapy. Fluctuations in sex hormone levels, particularly estrogen deficiency, were considered the specific risk factor in women's cardiovascular disease. However, considerable heterogeneity in the impact of hormone therapy was observed in clinical trials. The heterogeneity is likely closely associated with factors such as the initial time, administration route, dosage, and formulation of hormone therapy. This review will delve into the pathogenesis and hormone therapy, summarizing the effect of female sex hormones on hypertension, pre-eclampsia, coronary heart disease, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and cardiovascular risk factors specific to women.
