The Squat Jump (SJ) test is widely recognized as a reliable test for assessing lower-limb explosive strength. However, uncertainty persists in the literature regarding the optimal starting positions for maximizing vertical jump performance. This uncertainty is exacerbated by a disproportionate focus on athletes in existing studies, with insufficient consideration being given to non-athletic women. To address this gap, this study investigated the influence of leg starting angle on explosive jump height in a homogeneous sample of non-athletic women. Thirty-two female students enrolled in a Sports Science master's degree program at the University of Salerno participated in the study. Descriptive statistics were employed to summarize data on various variables, and Pearson's correlations were calculated to assess the relationship between knee angle in the starting position and achieved jump height. The study revealed that different starting positions had a noteworthy impact on jump height among the participants. A strong negative correlation (−0.701) was identified between Squat Jump elevation and the knee angle in the starting position. Notably, 62.5% of the subjects opted for a starting knee position of approximately 70 degrees, with all of them consistently achieving a jump height associated with this specific angle. These findings provide valuable insights into the relationship between leg starting angle and explosive jump height in non-athletic women. The observed correlation underscores the significance of the starting position in Squat Jump performance. Enrollment in soil science courses at land grant universities in the United States has been stagnant or declining for the last 20 years and this trend is expected to continue in the foreseeable future. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate a newly developed course in drinking water and human health (DWHH) that was designed to widen soil science course offerings and attract students from other areas of natural resource sciences at the University of Idaho (UI). The DWHH course was first offered in 2004. Total enrollment in this class was initially 32 students; however, enrollment has grown significantly over the 20-year period to 72 students in spring 2023. The average enrollment of the 14 times this course was taught was 41.5 students. Because student demand was high, the course changed from an alternate year class (2004– 2014) to an annual class in 2016. The course was only taught live on the Moscow campus until 2014. When the course was transformed into an online class, its enrollment became dominated by place-based students. Most students taking the class in the last 5 years have been off campus graduate students enrolled in non-thesis Master of Science degree programs. Course evaluations indicated that students that have taken this class are more satisfied with the course content, course materials, course organization, and the work requirement than the average course taught on campus at UI. Background: Improving oncology-specific knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals is critical for improving the outcomes of people with cancer. Many current postgraduate education offerings may be inaccessible to busy professionals, contain minimal consumer input or do not focus on the multidisciplinary nature of cancer care. In response to these needs, a Master of Cancer Sciences degree was developed. Our aim is to describe the development of the Master of Cancer Sciences. Methods: We describe the development of the Master of Cancer Sciences, including its theoretical and its pedagogical underpinnings. Results: Our approach to curriculum design was guided by Kern's Six-Step Approach to Medical Curriculum and underpinned by the Seven Principles of Online Learning. These approaches were further underpinned by the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning which informed our approach to audio and visual information design. The pedagogy is interactive, experiential, interprofessional and importantly, includes consumers as educators. In practice, learning activities include peer feedback, multidisciplinary team meeting simulations, group work and clinical role plays. The online environment was visually shaped through infographics, high-quality educational videos and gamification. Conclusion: We have designed a Master of Cancer Sciences that is one of the first wholly online, cancer-specific Masters' programs. Its industry-led curriculum using evidence-based pedagogical choices utilises a range of novel digital formats and integrates the consumer perspective to provide a holistic overview of the field. Background: Online teaching behavior and teachers' acceptance of it can have an impact, as its acceptance will play a vital role in the learning process. E-learning, distance education, and accredited courses previously were part of informal learning. However, it appears that it can gradually replace the formal education system. On the other hand, online courses eliminate practical components such as face-to-face training, and clinical and laboratory sessions; As a result, learners lose the opportunity to train, cooperate and build relationships. Objectives: This study aimed to describe the faculty members’ attitudes toward readiness to teach online at Iraqi universities, and to identify the relationship between some of the demographic factors (age, gender, and educational status) and their attitudes toward using online teaching. Methodology: A descriptive exploratory design was conducted, and an online questionnaire was administered to (99) nursing faculties from different Iraqi universities between 1st March and 20th May 2022. A standardized questionnaire was used to achieve objectives of the study. Permission was granted through informational consent to collect data from the participants. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS program (V.24). Results: The descriptive data analysis revealed that the age range of the participants represented (48.5 %), (MS=2.1, SD= 0.89), is primarily between (36-45) years old. about half of participants (50.5%) had a Master of Science in Nursing degree (MS=2.15, SD=0.64). The inferential statistics revealed a substantial relationship between age of the participants and items related to utilizing various instructional techniques in an online setting (χ2 (2, N =99 = 26.562, p < 0.05), and managing course time with facilitation techniques (χ2 (2, N =99 = 25.098, p < 0.05). Additionally, a significant relationship was found between the gender of the participants and item related to communicating with students via email (χ2 (2, N =99 = 10.737, p < 0.05). Furthermore, a significant relationship was discovered between participants' educational level and items related to spending weekly hours to grade assignments (χ2 (2, N =99 = 21.889, p < 0.05). Conclusion: The development of creative teaching strategies and curricula that cater to the demands of tomorrow's nurses has become a problem for nursing education programs today, with the rapid changes in the methods of communication and information. Designing effective and inclusive governance and public communication strategies for artificial intelligence (AI) requires understanding how stakeholders reason about its use and governance. We examine underlying factors and mechanisms that drive attitudes toward the use and governance of AI across six policy-relevant applications using structural equation modeling and surveys of both US adults (N  = 3,524) and technology workers enrolled in an online computer science master's degree program (N  = 425). We find that the cultural values of individualism, egalitarianism, general risk aversion, and techno-skepticism are important drivers of AI attitudes. Perceived benefit drives attitudes toward AI use but not its governance. Experts hold more nuanced views than the public and are more supportive of AI use but not its regulation. Drawing on these findings, we discuss challenges and opportunities for participatory AI governance, and we recommend that trustworthy AI governance be emphasized as strongly as trustworthy AI. Background: Building on a distinguished history of community medicine training, public health programs have been expanding in India in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought additional attention to the importance of public health programs and the need for a strong workforce. This paper aims to assess the current capacity for public health education and training in India and provide recommendations for improved approaches to meet current and future public health needs. Methods: We conducted a desk review of public health training programs via extensive internet searches, literature reviews, and expert faculty consultations. Among those programs, we purposively selected faculty members to participate in in-depth interviews. We developed summary statistics based on the desk review. For qualitative analysis, we utilized a combination of deductive and inductive coding to identify key themes and systematically reviewed the strengths and weaknesses of each theme. Results: The desk review captured 59 institutions offering public health training across India. The majority of training programs were graduate level degrees including Master of Public Health and Master of Science degrees. Key factors impacting these programs included collaborations, mentorship, curriculum standardization, tuition and funding, and student demand for public health education and careers. Collaborations and mentorship were highly valued but varied in quality across institutions. Curricula lacked standardization but also contained substantial flexibility and innovation as a result. Public sector programs were perceived to be affordable though fees and stipends varied across institutions. Further development of career opportunities in public health is needed. Conclusion: Public health education and training in India have a strong foothold. There are numerous opportunities for continued expansion and strengthening of this field, to support a robust multi-disciplinary public health workforce that will contribute towards achieving the sustainable development goals. An effective pharmacist workforce requires highly qualified and effective pharmacy educators. Qualifications required of pharmacy practice faculty may vary by academic institution but the American College of Clinical Pharmacy recommends completion of a residency or fellowship that includes structured teaching experiences and scholarly activities. Although teaching and learning certificate programs may offer a way for residents to gain this experience, program quality may vary and there is evidence that department chairs and other administrators may value additional advanced degrees over these certificate programs. However, less than 20% of the faculty surveyed obtained an additional degree beyond the Doctor of Pharmacy. Advanced degree programs are also a relatively uncommon component of pharmacy residency programs, with a Master of Science in Health‐System Pharmacy Administration being the most common. The first year of an innovative postgraduate 24‐month pharmacy practice residency program that includes completion of a Master of Science in Education degree offers the breadth and depth of ambulatory care practice, teaching, service, and research/scholarship that is beneficial for pharmacists seeking pharmacy practice faculty appointments. Eight key residency elements critical for success are detailed. A description of core coursework highlighted the intentional design of the Master of Science in Education degree program. Previous resident graduates reflected on the value of the Master of Science in Education degree program and the overall pharmacy residency program. This article presents the educational product generated from the research entitled “Teaching Exponential Function with Problem Solving Methodology: Report of a Practice”, developed within the scope of the Professional Master's Degree in Science, Mathematics and Technology Teaching at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC). The educational product is a Facebook page composed of applied activities, activity suggestions, activity reports, videos of activity resolutions, reports of practices in the application of problem situations on the exponential function through problem solving, activity resolutions, videos and problem suggestions for applications and video suggestions, the objective is to share experiences and exchange information, motivating and encouraging educators in their practices. The design of the educational product aimed to contribute to the teaching practice of in-service teachers, both in mathematics classes and in their professional life. On the “Facebook” page, the activities that were applied in the classroom are described using the Problem Solving Methodology methodology, based on studies by researchers Lourdes de la Rosa and Norma Suely Gomes Allevato, which were applied in the classroom together with Geogebra objects. Among diverse contemporary colour prints, silver dye bleach prints and chromogenic prints are difficult to differentiate. They share similar visual characteristics and can use identical supports and surface finishes. However, their image-forming dyes differ, resulting in disparate conservation and restoration needs. This study aimed to determine practical measures for unambiguously differentiating between these two print types. Identifying characteristics—referred to here as 'identifiers'—were collected from popular conservation sources and a mixed-method questionnaire survey. The accuracy and feasibility of these identifiers were evaluated against known prints sets. Examinations made use of water droplets, various light sources, digital 3D microscopy, and spectrophotometry. Results dichotomised these identifiers into 'definite' or 'indefinite' with 'definite identifiers' being able to discriminate independently. Only five out of 23 entries were termed definite identifiers. Azo dyes—image dyes of silver dye bleach prints—were established as the only constant definite identifiers of this print type. These findings were integrated into a flowchart to guide differentiation with the main recommendation being to deviate from indefinite identifiers to save time and effort. Summary : The proportion of general surgeons with graduate degrees in Canada is increasing. We sought to evaluate the types of graduate degree held by surgeons in Canada, and whether differences in publication capacity exist. We evaluated all general surgeons working at English-speaking Canadian academic hospitals to determine the types of degrees achieved, changes over time and research output associated with each degree. We identified 357 surgeons, of whom 163 (45.7 %) had master's degrees and 49 (13.7 %) had PhDs. Achievement of graduate degrees increased over time, with more surgeons earning master's degrees in public health (MPH), clinical epidemiology and education (MEd), and fewer master's degrees in science (MSc) or PhDs. Most publication metrics were similar by degree type, but surgeons with PhDs published more basic science research than those with clinical epidemiology, MEd or MPH degrees (2.0 v. 0.0, p < 0.05); surgeons with clinical epidemiology degrees published more first-author articles than surgeons with MSc degrees (2.0 v. 0.0, p = 0.007). An increasing number of general surgeons hold graduate degrees, with fewer pursuing MSc and PhD degrees, and more holding MPH or clinical epidemiology degrees. Background: Reasoning and moral action are necessary to resolve day-to-day moral conflicts, and there are certain professions where a greater moral character is expected, e.g., medicine. Thus, it is desirable that medical students develop skills in this field. Some studies have evaluated the level of moral reasoning among medical students; however, there are no comparative studies involving other types of populations. Therefore, the objective of this study was to compare the moral reasoning among medical graduates with that of a group of young graduates with other degrees and of a group of nonprofessional adults. Methods: An exploratory cross-sectional study was conducted. Pediatric residents and pediatric subspecialty residents at a pediatric hospital were invited to participate, forming the group of "medical graduates". A group of young people from a social program and students with a master's degree in a science from the same pediatric hospital were also invited to participate, comprising the group of "graduates with other degrees". Finally, a group of beneficiaries of a family clinic was invited to participate, which we categorized as "nonprofessionals". To evaluate the differences in moral reasoning between these 3 groups, we applied the Defining Issues Test (DIT), a moral reasoning questionnaire designed by James Rest using Kohlberg's theory of moral development. Results: The moral reasoning of 237 subjects—88 from the "medical graduates" group, 82 from the "graduates with other degrees" group and 67 from the "nonprofessionals" group— was evaluated. We found differences in the profiles of moral development of the groups. The profile of the "nonprofessionals" showed a very high predominance of subjects at the preconventional level, 70%, but only 4.5% at the postconventional level. Among the "medical graduates", we observed 37.5% at the preconventional level and 34% at the postconventional level (X2p < 0.001); this group had the highest percentage in this category. This large difference could be because the differences in the ages and socioeducational levels of nonprofessionals are much wider than those among medical graduates. However, significant differences were also found when the profiles of medical graduates were compared with those of graduates with other degrees, since the latter demonstrated 56% at the preconventional level and 18% at the postconventional level (X2 test, p = 0.02). Conclusions: Significant differences were found in moral reasoning among the groups that we evaluated. Among the group of medical graduates, there was a higher percentage of subjects at the postconventional level than among the group of graduates with other degrees and a much higher percentage than among the group of nonprofessionals. Our conclusions give the first evidence that studying medicine seems to influence the development of moral reasoning in its students. Therefore, we consider it relevant to develop educational strategies where the student is involved in simulated but realistic decision-making situations, where there are moral dilemmas to resolve from their early years of training. The aim of this article is to demonstrate the results of the dissertation research for a master's degree in Sciences of Religion at PUC GO (2012-2013) on the religious practices used in the rehabilitation process of drug addicts. Was it questioned whether Casa do Oleiro, a confessional recovery entity that received drug addicts, promotes the effective recovery of its inmates through religious means of therapy? In the data analysis, the recovery time, the statistics of those retrieved in the proposed time, were considered. It was exploratory bibliographical research with field research when the entity was visited, and inmates were interviewed through a questionnaire prepared by the researcher. The results obtained from the research allow us to infer that the religious practices used in the process in question provide conditions of social dignity and recovery, if the intern is willing to adhere to the religious practices worked on as a therapeutic proposal for abstinence that the entity offers. Background: Compassion, one of the items of empathy, is crucial in health care professions. So, the evaluation of the levels of compassion of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences Master Degrees' (M.D.) students of the public Colleges in Portugal according to the type of Master Degree and the participation in extracurricular activities (E.A.) was a task to be performed. Methods: Cross-sectional study in 2020, applying an on-line questionnaire including the "Compassion" items of the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale – Students' version and questions about the participation in E.A. Results: A sample of 901 students was studied. Its distribution by participation in E.A. did not differ significantly between M.D. (p = 0,854), most of the students participating in E.A. Using quartile distribution of compassion, the distribution of compassion levels was different among the three I.M. (p < 0.001), between Colleges (p < 0.001), and between curricular years (p < 0.001), with not different between genders (p = 0.036). For 56.4%, 74,6% and 69,5% of the respondents there was "medium-low" and "low" compassion for I.M. in Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Dentistry. These levels were also more prevalent among students in the 1st and 5th years. Levels of compassion were not different with the participation (p = 0,865), type (p = 0,177) and frequency of E.A. (p = 0,109). Conclusions: For their importance in future health care professionals, compassion and their differences found among the M.Ds. of this area deserve future studies. Levels of compassion showed differences between the M.D. studied and academic years of frequency. There was no relationship between the participation, type, and frequency of E.A. and the students' levels of compassion. The distribution of the level of compassion did not vary significantly with participation in E.A. (p = 0.865), with the type of E.A. (p = 0.177), with the frequency of E.A. (p = 0.109) or with the answer to the question "The practice of E.A. can make a person more compassionate?" (p = 0.503). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Women are consistently underrepresented among graduate entrepreneurs. This is especially true among the entrepreneurs who graduate in STEM fields. Here, we aim at identifying factors that reduce/enlarge the gender imbalance in entrepreneurship among STEM graduates. In particular, we explore the underinvestigated association between university education in STEM fields and entrepreneurial entry of recent female and male graduates considering graduates' whole university curriculum. Our analyses on the graduates who obtained a Master of Science degree in the 2005–2009 period from Politecnico di Milano reveal that training in economics and management reduces the gender imbalance in entrepreneurial entry among STEM recent graduates. The gap is instead larger among the graduates who attended courses that aggregate students from different STEM fields or did an internship. Plain English Summary: University education affects the gender gap in entrepreneurship among STEM graduates! Attending courses aggregating students from multiple STEM programs and doing internships enhance this gap, while training in economics and management reduces it. This study was carried out in order to determine what postgraduate science teachers perceive when socio scientific issues are mentioned, how they teach these subjects, what difficulties they encounter during teaching the subjects and what they need during the teaching of socio scientific issues. For this purpose, three groups of interviews were conducted over ZOOM with 14 science teachers working in different provinces and doing a master's degree in science education at Faculty of Education, Siirt University in the 2021-2022 academic year. Focus group interview, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. Research data were collected with a semistructured interview form. In the analysis of the data, the thematic content analysis was made. According to the answers given to the questions, themes, categories, and codes were created and frequency values were given. According to the results obtained, teachers can define socio scientific issues, give enough examples, explain the reasons for discussing the issues in detail, follow current developments especially on social media and the internet, use traditional teaching methods such as lecture methods and question-answer, and draw upon student-centred methods such as discussion and debate while teaching some subjects. It was understood that they need domestic materials and foreign resources, a reduction in the class size, and teacher training, have difficulties due to reasons such as the lack of a clear answer to the subjects, religious beliefs, prejudices and lack of sufficient time for the subjects, mostly benefit from the textbooks while teaching the subjects, and could give examples of socio scientific issues in their close environment.
