The present study aimed to find out differences of social support, perceived emotion invalidation, psychological needs, and use of adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in maritally adjusted and maladjusted after controlling for age, education, employment status, and depressive symptomatology. The cross‐sectional study uses a matched pairs design. The sample was divided into two groups; maritally adjusted and maladjusted women (n = 40 pairs) on basis of scores obtained on revised‐dyadic adjustment scale. Forty maritally adjusted women were matched with 40 maritally maladjusted women according to age, education, and employment status. Social support questionnaire, perceived invalidation of emotion scale, basic psychological need satisfaction frustration scale, cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire, and center for epidemiologic studies depression scale were administered. One‐way ANCOVA revealed that maritally maladjusted women had lower level of social support [mean difference; −5.65(−9.97, −1.33), p < 0.05, partial η2 = 0.08] and more emotional invalidation [mean difference; 15.36(13.08, 17.65), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.71] compared to maritally adjusted women after controlling for the effect of depressive symptomatology. Maritally maladjusted women had more need frustration [mean difference; 10.75(7.59, 13.92), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.38] compared to maritally adjusted women. However, maritally adjusted women had more need satisfaction [mean difference; 13.36(9.67, 17.05), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.41] compared to maritally maladjusted women. Maritally adjusted women used more adaptive CER strategies (acceptance, refocus on planning and putting into perspective) [mean difference; 4.66(2.36, 6.95), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.18] compared to maritally maladjusted women whereas, maritally maladjusted women used more maladaptive strategies (self‐blame, catastrophizing and blaming others) [mean difference; 4.66(2.77, 6.54), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.25] compared to maritally adjusted women. Maladjusted women had less social support and more emotional invalidation of emotions and psychological needs frustration. They used more maladaptive strategies to manage their negative emotions in comparison to maritally adjusted women. Identification of these cognitive emotion regulation strategies will help clinicians and counselors to devise psychological intervention targeting the use of adaptive strategies to minimize the negative mental health consequences. AbstractMarital adjustment is an important predictor of coping with stress among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A randomized controlled trial conducted on 60 parents of children with ASD showed that integrative SFT and double ABCX therapy, conducted over ten sessions of multiple family therapy in group counseling for five weeks and a one-month follow-up at special needs children’s centers in Jordan, resulted in a 48% increase in marital adjustment and a 34% reduction in parenting stress. AbstractPregnancy loss can have a profound impact on a woman’s psychological and emotional health often leading to a grieving process. Furthermore, the loss of a child is a risk factor for Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition-Text Revision (DSM-5-TR). This cross-sectional study investigated the associations between mental health, marital adjustment, family support, gestational age, and prolonged grief. We recruited 93 women who had lost a pregnancy and had a living child born after the loss. Maternal mental health and gestational age at the time of loss were the variables most correlated with prolonged grief symptoms. A network model further confirmed the results and highlighted the importance of adopting a systemic and interactive approach to these and the other variables of interest related to pregnancy loss. This study investigates the mediating role of parental dyadic coping in the impact of parenting stress on marital adjustment, specifically focusing on fathers and mothers as distinct groups within Chinese families with children aged 0–6 years. A total of 632 parents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria agreed to participate, but only 604 couples completed the questionnaire. Utilizing the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) and the Actor-Partner Interdependence Mediation Model (APIMeM), our findings reveal that both fathers' and mothers' parenting stress significantly influences their own marital adjustment, with dyadic coping partially mediating this relationship. Conversely, in terms of partner effects, only mothers' parenting stress affects fathers' marital adjustment, which is mediated by dyadic coping between both parents. Moreover, within the APIMeM model, it was found that the variable "whether the mother worked or not" exhibited a statistically significant impact on maternal parenting stress. These findings imply that couples aiming to enhance their marital adjustment in a favorable direction should be attentive to both paternal and maternal parenting stress levels and encourage collaborative efforts in coping with stress-related consequences. Additionally, it is crucial to provide more employment opportunities and financial security for mothers in China as a means of alleviating their parenting stress and ultimately fostering positive marital adjustment. Highlights: Parenting stress, dyadic coping, and marital adjustment were significantly correlated. Individual parenting stress has an impact on marital adjustment via the mediating effect of dyadic coping. Paternal marital quality was impacted by maternal parenting stress through their individual and the couple's dyadic coping. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of depression in expectant fathers, its association with marital adjustment and health-promoting behaviors, as well as the mediating role of depression in the association between marital adjustment and health behaviors in men. In the summer of 2022, 200 expectant fathers were selected. The participants completed the questionnaires included demographic information, dyadic adjustment, depression, and health-promoting behaviors. The results showed that depression had a high prevalence (25%) in expectant fathers. Objective: This study examined the associations between romantic attachment and relationship satisfaction as mediated by interp ersonal schemas (friendly × hostile) with Turkish couples. Background: Previous studies showed that adult romantic attachment is strongly associated with couple relationship functioning, and many efforts have been made to identify the mechanisms underlying this link. However, no study has considered interpersonal schemas when investigating the connection between romantic attachment and marital adjustment in couples. Method: In total, 230 Turkish married couples completed measures of interpersonal schemas, adult attachment, and marital adjustment. Results: Attachment anxiety is indirectly related to marital adjustment in couples via interpersonal schemas. However, attachment avoidance is both directly and indirectly related to marital adjustment via interpersonal schemas. Whereas friendly schemas are related to attachment anxiety negatively, hostile schemas are related to both attachment anxiety and avoidance positively. Conclusion: The current study extended previous research by providing evidence concerning the influence of each partner's attachment dimension on the interpersonal schemas and marital adjustment of both spouses. Implications: In romantic relationships being aware of the impact of interpersonal cycles on dyadic adjustment in clinical settings can help therapists shape their strategies in therapy sessions. Objective: This study examined associations between marital adjustment and children's learning behaviors, as well as the potential mediation effects of maternal involvement and parenting on these associations in Chinese contexts. Background: The family is a vital setting for children's early learning behaviors, encompassing self‐efficacy in learning and approaches to learning. Marital adjustment, as well as maternal involvement and maternal parenting, are crucial factors in the family setting. However, there is a paucity of research on the pathway mechanism between these three family factors and children's early learning behaviors. Method: There were 750 mothers of Chinese preschoolers (48.24% girls, Mage = 5.94 years, SD = 1.43) in three provinces—Fujian, Sichuan, and Xinjiang—who participated in the study. Mothers completed questionnaires related to marital adjustment, maternal involvement, maternal parenting, and children's learning behaviors. Structural equation models were estimated to test the hypothesized paths. Results: The results revealed a positive association between higher marital adjustment and improved children's self‐efficacy in learning (β =.10, p =.004) and approaches to learning (β =.15, p <.001), with maternal involvement (for self‐efficacy, β =.25, p <.001; for approaches to learning, β =.23, p <.001) and parenting (for self‐efficacy, β =.25, p <.001; for approaches to learning, β =.31, p <.001) recognized as significant mediators in this relationship. Conclusions: The study indicated that marital adjustment, maternal involvement, and parenting have significant direct and indirect effects on children's early learning behaviors. Implications: Given the research findings, marital adjustment is worth considering when recognizing children's early learning. Furthermore, parents may be encouraged to understand proper involvement and parenting practices with their children. Objective: The aim of this study is to employ an artificial neural network to predict the marital adjustment of women by investigating their attitudes toward infidelity, health literacy, and self-care concerning their diabetic spouses. Materials and Methods: The present study employed a descriptive-correlational research design. The study's statistical population comprised all couples residing in Ahvaz City, in which their male spouse was diagnosed with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes and who had been registered with the Diabetes Association of Khuzestan province until the end of December in the year 2022. Out of a total population of 2,200 individuals, a sample of 205 individuals was chosen using convenience sampling. In order to gather data, the researchers utilized several questionnaires, including the Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ), Attitude towards infidelity Scale, Health Literacy for Iranian Adults (HELIA), and The Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire (DSCAQ. The data analysis involved the application of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to examine Pearson's correlation coefficient, regression, and the artificial neural network. Results: The results indicated a statistically significant negative association between men's attitude towards infidelity and women's marital adjustment as well as statistically significant positive associations between men's health literacy and women's marital adjustment, and between men's self-care and women's marital adjustment (P< 0.01). Conclusion: Health literacy plays a crucial role in enhancing the ability of men with diabetes to self-regulate and manage their condition through proper diet. It also increases their awareness of how diabetes can impact their marital life and sexual relationships.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of marital adjustment based on the main family’s health with the mediating role of emotion adjustment difficulty, conflict management, and sexual intimacy in teacher couples. This study was descriptive-correlational in terms of nature, and was applied in terms of objective. The statistical population of the study was all teacher couples of Kermanshah city in academic year 2020-2021, among whom 300 were selected Stepwise random sampling. The research data were collected through Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Spanier, 1976), Main Family’s Health Scale )Hovestadt et al., 1985), Emotion Adjustment Difficulty Scale (Gratz & Roemer, 2004), and Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire (Olson et al., 1986), and data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling method using SPSS-24 and AMOS-24 software. The findings s showed that direct effect of emotion adjustment difficulty and marital adjustment, conflict management and marital adjustment, and sexual intimacy with marital adjustment (p≤0.01). The results of indirect pathways showed that the main family health pathways have a positive effect on marital adjustment through difficulty of emotion regulation, conflict management and sexual intimacy (p≤0.05).

Introduction: End‐stage renal disease is different from other chronic diseases that the treatment method is as difficult. Our aim in this study was to compare marital adjustment, sexual functions and family functioning between hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) patient. Method: A total of 21 HD and 27 PD patients were included. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Short Form‐36 (SF‐36), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASEX), Golombok‐Rust Inventory for Sexual Satisfaction (GRISS), Marital Adjustment Test (MAT) and Family Assessment Device (FAD) were applied. Results: BDI scores were significantly higher in HD patients (p < 0.001). According to FAD problem solving (p < 0.001), communication (p = 0.00) and general functioning scores (p = 0.04) were higher in PD. The rate of poor sleep quality was 44.4% in the PD group, and 66.7% in HD group (p = 0.12). General health (p = 0.04), vitality (p < 0.001), mental health (p = 0.00) and social functioning (p = 0.00) scores were lower in HD patients. Conclusion: HD patients are at high risk for psychiatric disorders due to the treatment modality. These patients should be monitored carefully and consultation‐liaison services should be increased. The present study evaluated the impact of some factors (marital adjustment with depressive symptoms) on health-promoting behaviors in pregnant women and their husbands based on the actor-partner interdependence model (APIM). Materials and methods: This descriptive study examined 211 couples (pregnant women and their husbands) in pregnancy clinics of Babol University of Medical Sciences using a convenience sampling method. Pregnant woman's depressive symptoms also negatively affected their health-promoting behaviors (β=-0.088, 95% Cl: -0.974–0.074, P = 0.236) and their husbands' health-promoting behaviors (β=-0.177, 95% Cl: -0.281 – -0.975, P = 0.011). Furthermore, the husband's marital adjustment only positively affected his studied behaviors (β = 0.323, 95% Cl: 0.0303–0.895, P < 0.001) but did not affect the pregnant woman's health behaviors. The husband's depressive symptoms had a negative impact on his studied behaviors (β = 0.219, 95% Cl: -0.122 – -0.917, P = 0.001) and did not affect the pregnant woman's depressive symptoms. Our findings confirmed the mediating role of depressive symptoms in pregnant women and their husbands on the association of marital adjustment and health-promoting behaviors. According to the actor-partner study, a pregnant woman's marital adjustment scores positively affected her studied behaviors and her husband (β = 0.071, 95% Cl: 0.042–0.278, P = 0.015) by decreasing her depression score. Therefore, the husband's marital adjustment score positively affected his studied behaviors by decreasing his depression score (β = 0.084, 95% Cl: -0.053 -0.292, P = 0.005), and it did not affect his wife's health-promoting behaviors. Discussion and conclusion: These findings suggest healthcare providers, obstetricians, and psychologists evaluate the husbands' symptoms of depression and health-promoting behaviors in the routine pregnancy care of pregnant women. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of web-based marriage preparation education provided to engaged couples before marriage on their knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, marital adjustment, sexual satisfaction, and sexual self-efficacy. The randomized controlled experimental study took place between September 2021 and November 2022 at a municipal marriage registry office in Ankara. The study enrolled 60 engaged couples embarking on their first marriage (30 couples assigned to the intervention group and 30 to the control group). The intervention group received web-based marriage preparation education, while the control group received standardized follow-up. Data collection involved the use of the "Data Collection Form," the "Sexual and Reproductive Health Knowledge Test for Premarital Couples (SRH)," the "Marital Adjustment Scale (MAS)," the "New Sexual Satisfaction Scale (NSSS)," and the "Sexual Self-Efficacy Scale (SSES)." Data analysis employed descriptive statistics (percentage, frequency, mean, and standard deviation), split-plot ANOVA for pre-test and post-test comparisons, two-way ANOVA for intergroup scale score comparisons, and the Pearson correlation test for correlational analysis. The post-test knowledge scores on sexual and reproductive health for the group that received marriage preparation education were found to be significantly higher (p < 0.01). Additionally, the intervention group exhibited significantly higher scores on the MAS, NSSS, and SSES than the non-education group (p < 0.05). The study concludes that pre-marriage education played a crucial role in enhancing couples' understanding of sexual and reproductive health, marital adjustment, sexual satisfaction, and sexual self-efficacy. Research has revealed a rise in family relationship problems during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among couples with young children. However, longitudinal studies spanning the prepandemic and pandemic periods are rare. In this study, we examined changes in couple functioning during these periods. Moreover, we investigated the mediation and moderation effects of couple functioning on the association between COVID-19 stressors and harsh parenting. A total of 545 mothers (mean age 38 years, range 23–48 years) completed questionnaires on couple functioning during the prepandemic (2016–2020) and early pandemic (May–June 2020) periods. During the early pandemic, they also reported exposure to COVID-19 stressors and engaging in harsh parenting (e.g., conflicts and maltreatment). We found no overall deterioration in couple functioning during the early pandemic. Furthermore, COVID-19 stressors did not explain variance in couple functioning changes or correlate with harsh parenting. However, as hypothesized, couple functioning moderated the effect of COVID-19 stressors on harsh parenting. Only for couples with low prepandemic functioning was exposure to COVID-19 stressors associated with harsh parenting. In conclusion, our findings provided no evidence of COVID-19's detrimental effects on couples during the early pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has been stressful for individuals worldwide, including parents. Most research investigating stress during the pandemic has focused on single stressors in relation to outcomes and has been conducted in Western countries. Among parents from Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) countries, the present study used latent class analysis to identify specific subgroups of individuals based on combinations of stressful events experienced during the first two waves of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Whether individuals in these classes differed on levels of both adaptive (individual resilience, family cohesion) and maladaptive outcomes (depressive symptoms) was tested. Finally, perceived marital satisfaction was tested as a moderator of relations between class membership and adjustment outcomes. Participants were 545 parents (66.8% women, Mage = 35.79 years) recruited online who indicated presence or absence of experiencing 21 stressors across domains such as a family member contracting COVID, increased caregiving burden, work-related stress, and child adjustment problems. Three latent classes were identified, with one group characterized by work and child adjustment stress, one by child adjustment stress only, and one by low levels of stress across domains. The two higher stress groups reported increased depression. No associations with positive outcomes were found. Martial quality was most important for impacting greater resilience for those individuals experiencing child adjustment stress. Diabetes affects different aspects of life, e.g., work, quality of life, social-individual and psychological performance, and, most importantly, sexual performance, which may disrupt marital adjustment. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship of marital adjustment of wives with emotional intelligence, health literacy, and perceived stress of diabetic husbands through the mediation role of sexual satisfaction. The path analysis technique was adopted to evaluate the proposed model in this descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population included 2116 married couples with diabetic husbands in Ahvaz, (Iran) in 2022. The convenience sampling method was employed to select 305 couples. The research instruments included the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale, Health Literacy for Iranian Adults, Perceived Stress Scale, and Index of Sexual Satisfaction Scale. The data were analyzed using the statistical correlation method and structural equation modeling. According to the results, there was a significant relationship between husbands' emotional intelligence and wives' marital adjustment and sexual satisfaction (p < 0.01). There was a positive and significant relationship between husbands' health literacy with wives' marital adjustment and marital adjustment (p < 0.01). There was a negative and significant relationship between husbands' perceived stress with wives' marital adjustment and sexual satisfaction (p < 0.01). The relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital adjustment in the women was positive and significant (p < 0.01). The results showed that there was no significant relationship between husbands' health literacy and wives' marital adjustment. There were also significant indirect paths from the emotional intelligence, health literacy, and perceived stress of husbands to the marital adjustment of wives mediated by the sexual satisfaction of wives (p < 0.01). Abstract Background Breast cancer and genital cancer are known as cancers that affect people’s relationships with their partners. Women with such cancers are emotionally vulnerable and need more support from their partners. The present systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of couple-based interventions on the marital outcomes of patients with these cancers and their intimate partners. Methods To perform this systematic review, Google Scholar and databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Scopus, SID (Scientific Information Database), and Magiran were searched systematically. The reviewed studies included randomized controlled trials and quasiexperimental studies in which the intervention group, couple-based interventions, and the control group received routine care, general education or no intervention for cancer treatment. In this study, the included participants were patients with breast cancer or genital cancer and their intimate partners. The primary outcomes considered in this study included patients’ marital adjustment, patients’ marital satisfaction, patients’ marital intimacy, and patients’ marital relationships. The secondary outcomes were partners’ marital adjustment, partners’ marital satisfaction, partners’ marital intimacy, and partners’ marital relationships. A meta-analysis was performed with Review Manager v. 5.3 software (The Nordic Cochrane Centre, Cochrane Collaboration, 2014; Copenhagen, Denmark). The intervention impacts on continuous outcomes were measured using standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence interval because of the use of various scales to evaluate the outcomes. The quality of evidence presented in the included studies was evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. In the subgroup analysis, the studied outcomes were divided into two parts (theory-based and non-theory-based) in terms of the theoretical context of couple-based interventions. Results From a total of 138 retrieved studies, 14 trials were eligible for inclusion in the study. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the patient’s marital satisfaction increased significantly with couple-based interventions (SMD 0.46, 95% confidence interval 0.07 to 0.85; 7 trials, 341 patients, very low certainty) compared to the control group, but the evidence was uncertain. However, there were no significant differences between the groups in the partner’s marital satisfaction, the patient’s and partner’s marital adjustment, and the patient’s and partner’s marital intimacy. Additionally, the results of the subgroup analysis showed that the couple-based interventions significantly increased the patient’s marital adjustment (SMD 1.96, 95% CI 0.87 to 3.06; 4 trials, 355 patients, very low certainty), the partner’s marital adjustment (SMD 0.53, 95% CI 0.20 to 0.86; 4 trials, 347 partners, very low certainty), the patient’s marital satisfaction (SMD 0.89, 95% CI 0.35 to 1.43; 2 trials, 123 patients, very low certainty), and the partner’s marital satisfaction (SMD 0.57, 95% CI 0.20 to 0.94; 2 trials, 123 partners, very low certainty) compared to the control group in theory-based studies. In. However, in non-theory-based studies, the results of the meta-analysis revealed no significant differences between the intervention and control groups. Conclusions The results of this study demonstrated the impact of couple-based interventions on the marital outcomes of patients with breast and genital cancers. Because of the very low confidence in the evidence, high-quality randomized trials with a sufficient sample size should be conducted considering the proper theoretical context.

The purpose of this research was to standardize an Islamic happiness training program and assess its effectiveness in promoting marital adjustment and resilience among couples experiencing marital conflict. The qualitative portion of the study employed theme analysis via the inductive method, while the quantitative portion utilized a quasi-experimental design comprising a control group, pretest, posttest, and two-month follow-up period . In the spring and summer of 2020, couples experiencing marital conflict who were referred to counseling centers in the East District of Tehran constituted the statistical population of the current study. By employing a multistage sampling method, 26 couples were chosen and allocated at random into the experimental and control groups (with 28 individuals in the experimental group and 24 in the control group). The experimental group was provided with an eight-session Islamic contentment training program over the course of two months. In this study, the employed questionnaires were the marital conflict questionnaire (MCQ), the marital status questionnaire (MSQ), and the resilience questionnaire (RQ). Background: Light triad traits play a significant role in predicting one’s mental well-being and can greatly influence interpersonal relationships and overall happiness. This study aimed to assess the correlation between marital adjustment, marital satisfaction and quality of life in alignment with light triad traits.Methods: Structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. The study population included women living in Bastak, Iran in 2023. A total of 270 participants were selected through convenience sampling method, and completed Light Triad Scale, Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale (EMSS), and WHO Quality of Life-BREF questionnaires. Background: Breast cancer and genital cancer are known as cancers that affect people's relationships with their partners. Women with such cancers are emotionally vulnerable and need more support from their partners. The present systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of couple-based interventions on the marital outcomes of patients with these cancers and their intimate partners. Methods: To perform this systematic review, Google Scholar and databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Scopus, SID (Scientific Information Database), and Magiran were searched systematically. The reviewed studies included randomized controlled trials and quasiexperimental studies in which the intervention group, couple-based interventions, and the control group received routine care, general education or no intervention for cancer treatment. In this study, the included participants were patients with breast cancer or genital cancer and their intimate partners. The primary outcomes considered in this study included patients' marital adjustment, patients' marital satisfaction, patients' marital intimacy, and patients' marital relationships. The secondary outcomes were partners' marital adjustment, partners' marital satisfaction, partners' marital intimacy, and partners' marital relationships. A meta-analysis was performed with Review Manager v. 5.3 software (The Nordic Cochrane Centre, Cochrane Collaboration, 2014; Copenhagen, Denmark). The intervention impacts on continuous outcomes were measured using standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence interval because of the use of various scales to evaluate the outcomes. The quality of evidence presented in the included studies was evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. In the subgroup analysis, the studied outcomes were divided into two parts (theory-based and non-theory-based) in terms of the theoretical context of couple-based interventions. Results: From a total of 138 retrieved studies, 14 trials were eligible for inclusion in the study. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the patient's marital satisfaction increased significantly with couple-based interventions (SMD 0.46, 95% confidence interval 0.07 to 0.85; 7 trials, 341 patients, very low certainty) compared to the control group, but the evidence was uncertain. However, there were no significant differences between the groups in the partner's marital satisfaction, the patient's and partner's marital adjustment, and the patient's and partner's marital intimacy. Additionally, the results of the subgroup analysis showed that the couple-based interventions significantly increased the patient's marital adjustment (SMD 1.96, 95% CI 0.87 to 3.06; 4 trials, 355 patients, very low certainty), the partner's marital adjustment (SMD 0.53, 95% CI 0.20 to 0.86; 4 trials, 347 partners, very low certainty), the patient's marital satisfaction (SMD 0.89, 95% CI 0.35 to 1.43; 2 trials, 123 patients, very low certainty), and the partner's marital satisfaction (SMD 0.57, 95% CI 0.20 to 0.94; 2 trials, 123 partners, very low certainty) compared to the control group in theory-based studies. In. However, in non-theory-based studies, the results of the meta-analysis revealed no significant differences between the intervention and control groups. Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrated the impact of couple-based interventions on the marital outcomes of patients with breast and genital cancers. Mental health is a state of well-being whereby every individual not only copes with the normal stresses of life but also works productively and fruitfully. A key factor in mental health is marital adjustment, which is an overall feeling of happiness and satisfaction in spouses with the marriage and each other. In a good marriage, the husband and wife agree on the chief concerns of marriage. Among these basic issues is the spirituality of both partners. Spirituality implies a meaningful existence and includes a sense of connection to something bigger than oneself. In recent years there has been an escalating interest in the role of spirituality in mental health. The main purpose of this empirical research was to test whether spirituality influences the relationship between marital adjustment and mental health. Three separate questionnaires were used to assess the three variables under study, viz., mental health, marital adjustment, and spirituality. The results showed positive relationships among all the three variables. Path analyses revealed that marital adjustment directly influenced mental health and most of its dimensions. This study was conducted to develop a structural model for the relationship between sexual schemas, marital adjustment, sexual self-disclosure, and sexual anxiety in female sexual pain disorder by mediating social exchange styles. The statistical population included all women referred to sexual health clinics in Tehran. Using cluster sampling 220 eligible women were selected. The results of structural equation modeling showed a relatively good fit of the model. The results also showed that marital adjustment and sexual anxiety have a positive relationship and passionate-romantic gender schema and self-disclosure have a negative relationship with sexual pain disorder. The results indicate that the passionate-romantic and the embarrassed-conservation gender schema with the mediation of fairness style has an indirect effect on sexual pain disorder, while marital adjustment and sexual anxiety are directly involved in sexual pain disorder without the mediation of social exchange styles. The findings of the present study provide a useful framework for identifying the major components of sexual pain disorder which should be considered in prevention and treatment programs. Training and intervention based on the theory of social exchange, especially the fairness style, is proposed to sexual health practitioners for reducing the sexual problems of women with sexual pain disorder. Objective To explore the marital adjustment status of infertile couples and analyze inflvencing related factors for obtaining the basis of early intervention during diagnosis and treatment. Methods Total of 413 couples who met the criteria for infertility diagnosis were recruited from a tertiary-level hospital in Anhui Province. The Locke-Wollance Marriage Adjustment Questionnaire (MAT) was used to investigate the marital adjustment status of infertile couples. General data survey, Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and Psychological Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were used to investigate the factors related to marital disorders in infertile couples. The risk factors of marital disorder were analyzed by binary logistic regression analysis. Results The proportion of marital disorder in females was 31.9%, which was higher than that in males (20.0%). The infertility caused by female (OR=2.331, 95% CI= 1.160～4.683), living with elders (OR=0.453, 95% CI= 0.284～0.722), poor psychological resilience, and (OR=1.024, 95% CI= 1.008～1.040) lack of social support (OR=1.084, 95% CI=1.041～1.129) were the risk factors for marital disorder in women. Increasing age (OR=0.652, 95% CI=0.432～0.984), poor psychological resilience (OR=1.047, 95% CI=1.025～1.070) and lack of social support (OR=1.070, 95% CI=1.023～1.118) were the risk factors for marital disorder in men. Conclusion The proportion of marital disorders in women is higher than that in men. The factors related to marital disorders are concentrated in individual, family and social aspects. Pregnancy brings high hopes for the future; nevertheless, pregnant women may encounter unexpected challenges, including the diagnosis of high-risk pregnancy (HRP). Cases of HRP are still prevalent and can lead to psychopathology symptoms in the prenatal and postnatal periods. Hobfoll et al.'s (2002, 2011) Conservation of Resources (COR) theory proposes some implicit and explicit resources to help cope with adversities posed by an HRP. A meaningful life and having a good marital relationship can be the core resources in the adaptation process of pregnant women with HRP. Because to our knowledge no previous study has addressed this specific issue, in this study we examined the extent to which women with HRP differ in their experience of meaning in life, marital adjustment, and psychosocial adaptation as opposed to women whose pregnancies have not been deemed high risk. Thus, 302 hospitalized women with a diagnosis of HRP and 307 women with low-risk pregnancies in the Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic in a state hospital in Afyonkarahisar, Türkiye, participated in this study. The Prenatal Self-Evaluation Questionnaire, The Meaning in Life Questionnaire, and the Marital Adjustment Test were administered to all the participants. The results of a one-way multivariate analysis of variance and a series of univariate analyses with Bonferroni adjustment (α = 0.05/5, tests = 0.01) revealed that women with HRP felt less adapted to accepting pregnancy and motherhood roles, felt less satisfied with their marriage, had less presence of meaning, and sought more meanings. Clinicians can provide more resilience resources to these clients, such as existential care (expanding the global meaning resources and building a new meaning to this experience) and spousal support within the framework of COR theory. BACKGROUND: Couples experience maladjustment and serious problems in establishing and maintaining intimate relationships. Therefore, therapists employ different methods for helping couples experience more intimate and compatible relationships. Nowadays, professionals are more interested in using integrative approaches than ever before. Integrative behavioral couple therapy (IBCT) is an exemplar of such methods. This study aimed to analyze the effects of IBCT on communication patterns and marital adjustment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included pretest and posttest steps with a control group. The statistical population included couples aged 20–45 years old visiting the counseling and psychological service centers of Tehran for marital conflicts in 2022. After the initial evaluation, 76 couples were selected as the sample through convenience sampling. They were then randomly assigned to the test and control groups. All participants were asked to fill out the Spanier Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) and the Communication Patterns Questionnaire (CPQ) one week before the first intervention session and one week after the last intervention session. Participants in the test group attended eleven 90-minute sessions of IBCT, whereas those in the control group received no interventions in this period. The one-way ANCOVA was used for data analysis in SPSS 26. RESULTS: The results indicated that IBCT managed to significantly improve marital adjustment and constructive communication patterns. It reduced two communication patterns called “mutual avoidance” and “demand/withdraw” in the test group (P = 0.001). However, since the effect size of “demand/withdraw” was 0.26, this result should be interpreted cautiously. CONCLUSION: According to the research findings, Iranian couple therapists can employ IBCT to improve constructive communication patterns and mitigate destructive ones in couples. Given the effect size, IBCT increased dyadic cohesion, affection, dyadic satisfaction, and dyadic consensus as well as improving the marital adjustment of participants.

Couples' extrinsic emotion regulation strategies are associated with marital quality or dyadic adjustment. However, only the strategies employed according to the objective they are expected to achieve have been examined; it is not known if strategies on the bases of positive or negative extrinsic emotion regulation motivation would have the same consequences for the dyad. The purpose of this study was to examine if extrinsic emotion regulation (EER) predicts one's own and one's partner's dyadic adjustment and if this effect differs by gender and relationship length. Using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (a type of dyadic data analysis, which incorporates the scores of the two members of the relationship into the analyses), data from 103 Chilean couples who completed self-report scales on dyadic adjustment and EER were analyzed. The participants were between 22 and 78 years old (Mmen = 39.84, SD = 11.37; Mwomen = 38.01, SD = 10.64), and the relationship lengths were between 1 and 50 years (M = 12.98, SD = 11.53). The motivation or the intention to make the partner feel good (positive) or bad (negative) respectively predict higher and lower dyadic adjustment in both the one who uses the strategy (actor) and the receiver of the strategy (partner). There was no difference by gender or by duration of the relationship in the dyads, but there was with children in common. It is important to consider the motivation underlying the emotional management of the couple, given its implication in marital quality and the need to broaden the understanding of other EERs related to healthy dyadic functioning. This study explored interpersonal sensitivity and peer relationships as mechanisms in the parental marital quality and adolescents' online social addiction. Participants were 914 Chinese middle school students (females = 53.39%; mean age = 13.95, SD = 1.89 years). They completed measures of the Marital Adjustment Test, the Interpersonal Relationship Sensitivity Subscale of SCL-90, the Peer Relationships Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Online Interpersonal Relationship Addiction Scale. Path analysis results showed that higher parental marital quality was associated with lower adolescents' risk for online social addiction. Interpersonal sensitivity played a partial mediating role in the relationship between adolescents' parental marital quality and online social addiction, to explain only some of the adolescents' online social addiction. Peer relationships had a moderating effect on the relationship between adolescents' parental marital quality and online social addiction so that as peer relationships improved, parental marital quality effects on adolescents' online social addiction declined. This paper investigates the validity of the Coparenting Relationship Scale (CRS) among Italian parents. Moreover, we explored the role of coparenting as a mediator of the association between marital satisfaction on children’s adjustment. Specifically, the first study aims to test the reliability and validity of the Italian translation of the CRS among Italian parents. A total of 529 mothers and 529 fathers of children (49.3% males) aged 1-13 completed the questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analyses showed that the theoretically grounded 7-factor structure of the original instrument was valid in explaining the structure of the Italian data. The 7-factor model also fits well across parents’ gender, as there is configural invariance. Besides, the likelihood ratio tests proved that the goodness of fit of the metric model did not significantly change from the configural model. Convergent validity was also tested, and results of correlations and regression analyses showed theoretically coherent links between the participants’ scores on the CRS, marital adjustment, parenting stress, and children’s internalizing and externalizing behaviors. The second study explores the indirect effects of marital satisfaction on children’s adjustment by considering negative coparenting and parenting stress as mediators. Participants were 371 mothers and 371 fathers. Results showed a pathway from marital satisfaction to children’s behavioral problems, with negative coparenting (M1) affecting parenting stress (M2), directly associated with children’s behavioral problems. To explore the relationship among supportive dyadic coping, negative emotions and marital quality in middle-aged and young patients with lymphoma and their spouses. Methods: A total of 243 middle-aged and young patients with lymphoma and their spouses were selected. The Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form (FOP-Q-SF) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) anxiety subscale were used to assess the negative emotions of patients and spouses, and the Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI) and Short Marital Adjustment and Prediction Test (MAT) were used to evaluate supportive dyadic coping (SDC) and marital quality. Actor- partner interdependence mediation model was used to analyze the relationship among dyadic coping, negative emotions and marital quality. Results: The APIMeM model showed that both the FOP-Q-SF scores in patients and the anxiety scores in spouses had significant actor effects on their own supportive dyadic coping (B=-0. 17, -0.29). The anxiety scores in spouses had a significant partner effect on SDC scoresin patients (B = -0.18). Both the SDC scores in patients and spouses had significant actor and partner effects on their own and their partner's MAT scores (B=1.71, 1. 18, 1. 17, 1.92). The SDC scores in patients and spouses significantly mediated the relationship between FOP-Q-SF scores and MAT scores in patients, with effect sizes of 46% and 13%, respectively. The SDC-scores in patients and spouses also significantly mediated the relationship between anxiety scores and MAT scores in spouses, with effect sizes of 34% and 27%, respectively. Furthermore, the SDC scores in patients and spouses significantly mediated the relationship between FoP-Q-SF scores in patients and MAT scores in spouses, with effect sizes of 57% and 14%, respectively. Objective: The purpose of this research is to examine a predicting model of marital satisfaction based on worry domains and psychosocial adjustment in female diabetic patients (referred to specialized diabetes clinics in Tehran) in 2023. Methods: The current research is a correlational design based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population included all married people with type 2 diabetes (age range 30 to 55 years) referring to specialized diabetes clinics in Tehran in the summer and fall of 2023, which are 2143 people. The sample included 412 married female patients who were selected by systematic random sampling. The research tools of The Worry Domains Questionnaire (WDQ) (Tallis et al., 1992), The Psychosocial Adjustment Scale (Derogatis & Derogatis, 1990), and Nathan H.'s Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire. In order to analyze the hypotheses, the structural equation method via AMOS software was used. Results: Results showed a significant negative relationship between the worry domains and marital satisfaction and a significant positive relationship between psychosocial adjustment and marital satisfaction. According to the findings, the proposed model has good fit indices. Also, according to the findings, 23 and 38 percent of changes in marital satisfaction are explained by worry domains and psychosocial adjustment, respectively. This study was conducted to determine the perception of genital self-image, sexual quality of life and marital adjustment in infertile women. The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 135 infertile women who applied to a university hospital in a provincial center in the east of Turkey between November 2020-January 2021. Data were collected using Personal Information Form, Female Genital Self-Image Scale (FGSIS),Marital Adjustment Test (MAT) and Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire-Female (SQoL-F). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis test, Tamhane's T2 test, and Pearson's correlation analysis. FGSIS, SQoL-F, and MAT were found at moderate levels in the women who participated in the study (17.99 ± 4.87, 65.58 ± 26.77, 37.77 ± 14.16, respectively). There was a moderate positive correlation between the total scores of FGSIS and SQoL-F, and a moderate and weak positive correlation between FGSIS and MAT and its sub-dimensions (p < 0.01).A moderate and weak positive correlation was found between SQoL-F and MAT and its sub-dimensions(p < 0.01).An increase in a positive genital self-image was associated with an increase in sexual life quality, marital adjustment, and agreement and positive relationship with the spouse. In addition, an increase in sexual quality of life was also associated with an increase in marital adjustment and agreement and positive relationship with the spouse. The vice versa could also be valid. In this study, which was conducted to determine genital self-image, sexual quality of life and marital adjustment in infertile women, it was determined that low genital self-image negatively affected sexual life quality of life and marital adjustment. The aim of this research was to determine the predictive strength of job satisfaction and job-related emotional exhaustion on dyadic marital adjustment, and the mediating role of psychological flexibility in this predictive relationship. In line with this, the hypothetical structural model was tested 246 married participants by using correlational design. The fit indices of the tested model were found in the range of an acceptable level. The findings showed that both job satisfaction and job-related emotional exhaustion positively predicted dyadic marital adjustment. While psychological flexibility also positively predicted dyadic marital adjustment, it functioned as a mediator variable only in the path between job satisfaction and dyadic marital adjustment. The aim of this study is to determine the predictive strength of early maladaptive schema domains and family functions in explaining dyadic marital adjustment by testing a hypothetical structural model. While the dependent variable was dyadic marital adjustment, the independent variables were early maladaptive schema domains, and the mediator variable was family functions. The study group consisted of 201 Turkish married individuals. Findings revealed that unrelenting standards and disconnection schema domains significantly predicted dyadic marital adjustment and family functions play a partial mediating role only in the predictive effect of the disconnection schema domain on dyadic marital adjustment. The current study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Compassion-Focused Positive Couple Therapy (CFPCT) on entitlement, bullying and compatibility in narcissistic men. The research's method was semi-experimental in comparison with a control with follow-up. The statistical population was men that came to a counseling center in east of Tehran in 2021, who showed narcissistic symptoms. 30 men who scored lower than others in compatibility with their spouses were selected and randomly assigned into one group of experimental and a control. The research tools were narcissistic personality of Iranian couple questionnaire, ‌bullying in marital relationships, questionnaire of compatibility with spouse, Maladaptive schemas questionnaire, CFPCT protocol. The experimental group received CFPCT as a couple and face-to-face for 2 months in 15 sessions of 100 minutes twice a week. The data were analyzed by repeated measurement analysis of variance test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in entitlement and bullying in marital relations and compatibility with the spouse in the experimental group in comparison with to the control one in the post-test phase, this effect continued in a one-month follow-up. Therefore CFPCT can be applied in counseling centers to improve the relationships of narcissistic spouses.

The main aim of the current study was to examine the relationship between childhood trauma, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms in adulthood and marital adjustment. For this purpose, the role of ADHD symptoms in adulthood as a potential media-tor of the relationship between childhood trauma and marital adjustment was tested. The study involved 301 participants (164 women and 137 men) who were married once and officially, for at least one year, aged 22-61, and had at least high school degree. A Demo-graphic Information Form, Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1), Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), and Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) were administered. Spearman Correlation Analysis and “PROCESS” macro developed by Hayes in regression analysis for the instrument variable were used to test the hypothesis. It was depicted that there was a positive relationship between adult ADHD symptoms and childhood trauma levels while there was a negative one between adult ADHD symptoms and marital adjustment. The association between childhood trauma and marital adjustment was also identified as negative. It was indicated that there was a mediator role of adult ADHD symptoms in relation to child-hood trauma and marital adjustment. The results were found to be consistent with the literature in general and they were discussed in the context of the literature.

Aim and Background: The educational intervention program for spouses refers to another intervention that prevents people and their relationships from the common vices of married life by reducing the number of destructive relationships and strengthening constructive behaviors. Educational interventions are usually aimed at protecting spouses from risk factors, such as destructive relationship patterns and irrational beliefs, and building supportive relationship factors, such as positive attitudes and marital intimacy. Methods and Materials: In this research, the researcher has used a quantitative method. For this purpose, 20 couples were selected to implement the protocol. The research method at this stage will be a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The selected subjects in both experimental and control groups were measured by pre-test. The required data collection tool was through a questionnaire and the results were analyzed by the variance of repeated measurements. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test was used to test the normality of the distribution of scores related to several studies, and pairwise comparisons were also tested using the Bonferroni test. Findings: The researcher investigated her research in the form of three hypotheses, and the results showed that the educational package has a positive and significant effect on emotional intimacy, marital compatibility, and reducing marital conflicts and the results were smaller than 0.005. Conclusions: The hypotheses of the research were confirmed and it can be said that the educational package of sustainable life based on the lived experience of couples with experience of divorce is effective on emotional intimacy and this effect has been lasting. Also, the results showed that the training package increased marital compatibility in the experimental group compared to the control group and also decreased marital conflicts.

This study’s objective was to evaluate the efficacy of emotion-oriented couple therapy on cognitive emotion regulation and marital adjustment in parents of children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. In this study, a single-case A-B-A design was utilized. In 2020, couples in Isfahan with children aged 7 to 11 years old and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder comprised the statistical population of this investigation. Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), Revised Marital Adjustment Scale (RDAS), and the fourth edition of the Swanson, Nolan and Pelham Scale (Parent Form) (SNAP-IV) were utilized in this study. Three couples were selected using purposive sampling and participated in eight sessions of emotion-focused couple therapy. The effect of the treatment was determined by calculating the percentage of non-overlapping data (POD) and the percentage of overlapping data (PND) using visual analysis and SPSS-20 statistical software. The results showed that emotion-oriented couple therapy had a positive and statistically significant effect on cognitive regulation of emotion and marital adjustment of parents with children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (PND= 66/67% to 100%), and that the treatment’s effects persisted during follow-up. Based on the findings of the current study, emotion-focused couple therapy can be used as an effective intervention to improve adjustment and emotion regulation in couples with children who have attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

A continuous threat to the efficiency of human functioning, interaction and relationship due to depression serves as a rationale for this study, and it shows the need to gauge the influence of selected bio-social factors and marital adjustment on depression among perceived highly stressed couples in Ondo State, Nigeria. Adopting a correlational design, 175 highly stressed couples were selected using a multi-stage sampling technique (stratified, proportionate, purposive and random sampling techniques) and responded to standardised measures. Frequency and percentage were adopted to describe the bio-social factors of the respondents. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to test the inter-relationship among the variables, while a two-step hierarchical regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. The result revealed that gender, religion and educational qualification predicted depression among highly stressed couples. It was also indicated that depression decreases among highly stressed couples along with a significant increase in their marital adjustment. It was concluded that bio-social factors, such as gender, religion, educational qualification, and marital adjustment, were significant predictors of depression. And factors such as age, family type, and nature of employment had no significant relationship with depression among perceived highly stressed couples.

Currently, individuals are increasingly considering parenthood as a matter of choice. This explanatory and cross-sectional study evaluated the contribution of the individual (age, gender, education, employment status, personality) and relational (family income, dyadic adjustment, marital satisfaction, empathy, adaptability, and cohesion) factors in the childbearing intentions, among 165 women and 111 men in a heterosexual relationship in Brazil. They completed self-report questionnaires, examined through chi-square test, ANOVA, and binary logistic regression. Women were more likely to choose to remain childless when compared to men, as well as those who were older, had higher education or lower monthly income, and those with higher scores on autonomy, aggression, and relationship emotional satisfaction. Dysfunctional beliefs from previous experiences and unrealistic expectations can lead to low remarital quality. This study assessed the factor structure of the Portuguese version of the Remarriage Belief Inventory (RMBI). Data were analyzed with 741 remarried individuals. Participants were recruited through a web-based survey (LimeSurvey software) between January 2019 and July 2020. Two independent researchers translated the RMBI, and retroversion was performed by an independent bilingual research. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) revealed seven dimensions (Adjustment, Finances, Priority, Partner, Success, Stepfamily, and Past) confirming the original seven-factor structure. Confirmatory Factor Analysis confirmed good fit of data (CFA) fit (χ2 (130) = 363.588, χ2/ df = 2.79, p =.000; CFI =.93; GFI =.95; RMSEA =.05). Results revealed good internal consistency (α = 0.72). The RMBI also revealed good psychometric properties for construct validity, with measures of dyadic adjustment, stress, and social support. Implications and future research were discussed.
