Complex systems design problems entail a suitable structure in which all disciplines, including their coupled relationships, have been considered and modeled at the same time. These types of design problems involve time and computational cost challenges. Multi-Disciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) methods have been developed to address these issues simultaneously. This article aims to provide a proper design structure for an uncertainty-based re-entry trajectory design optimization problem under the control restrictions and structural constraints of a Reusable Flexible Space Launch Vehicle (RFSLV) alongside the determination of optimal skin thickness and thermal protection system thickness concerning the design criteria of the flexible structure in such a way that the final design would meet the desired reliability. Trajectory, structure, aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, and thermal protection systems are considered to be involved disciplines in the design problem. The study's purpose will be to obtain an optimal trajectory to meet all the control and structure restrictions while estimating optimal body skin and thermal protection thicknesses based on structural design criteria evaluating the re-entry trajectory, which is in process. The flexible space launcher body has been considered as a free-free Bernoulli-Euler beam for bending variation and D’alembert’s principle for inertia force in static model with the aim of assessing structural design standards. The 3DOF longitudinal dynamic equations plus the first bending mode have been considered. By Chebyshev polynomial interpolation, the angle of attack scope has been achievable, and then the trajectory optimization problem has been transformed to a discrete nonlinear programming problem (NLP), which leads to numerical integration of state equation and satisfying all path constraints in Bolza optimal control problem. All highly nonlinear uncertainty-based constraints in the model have led to taking advantage of the evolutionary optimization algorithm that has been implemented here by Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II). Finally, epistemic and aleatory uncertainties have been applied through Probability Theory to estimate the reliability of constraints that had been affected by uncertainties. The result shows a 75 percent decrease through utilizing the evolutionary multi-objective technique against the gradient-based algorithm in design space optimization regarding computational cost in recalling objective functions. The other conclusion is that the sequential reliability analysis structure modeling efficiency is much better compared to the parallel one.

This study aimed to assess the socio-economic impact of sickle cell disease (SCD) on families of patients receiving care at the SCD clinic of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in Kano, Northwest Nigeria. The research adopted a descriptive cross-sectional approach, involving the participation of 273 individuals selected through a multi-stage sampling method. Data was gathered using semi-structured interviews and subjected to analysis using SPSS software. The study achieved a 100 % response rate, with 84 % of the participants being females. The average age of the participants was 35.1 ± 8.6 years, and a significant proportion (79.9 %) reported a monthly income of thirty thousand naira or less. The findings of the study revealed that SCD had a notable social impact, affecting 93.5 % of participants occasionally and 5.8 % most of the time. Furthermore, a substantial financial burden was experienced by 54.2 % of respondents most of the time and 45.1 % occasionally. The research also highlighted the significant influence of SCD on guardians' employment status, income levels, time spent in hospitals, medical expenditures, and overall quality of life. These findings underscore the considerable social and financial challenges faced by guardians of SCD patients. Study results supports prioritizing affordable healthcare access for families affected by SCD to alleviate the burdens they face.

Global concern about human health and the increase the prevalence of chronic diseases in recent years lead to growing appeals for nutritious and healthy compounds, such as coenzyme Q10. Susceptibility to heat and lipophilic properties of coenzyme Q10 limit its utilization in food. Encapsulation is a technology that protects bioactive ingredients from harsh environmental conditions and extends shelf life. The purpose of this study was to encapsulate coenzyme Q10 using complex coacervation by gelatin–basil seed mucilage and characterize physical, thermal and chemical properties of produced microcapsules. Response surface methodology was applied to determine the optimum level of the four formulation variables for maximum encapsulation efficiency, loading capacity and turbidity and minimum supernatant absorption. The optimum microcapsules had encapsulation efficiency of 83.69%, encapsulation load of 16.32%, turbidity of 0.979 and supernatant absorption of 0.227. The microcapsules were assessed by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. The results of FTIR confirmed the formation of coacervates. The thermogram of Q10 loaded microcapsule melting point was not observed at its melting point (50°C) due to its solubility in the oil phase and appropriate entrapment. Release behavior of Q10 was studied by different mathematical models. Microencapsulated Q10 was used to fortify milk and the results showed that the developed protein-carbohydrate microcapsules can be applied for protection of hydrophobic compounds.

In this article, guidance and control of the reusable launch vehicle at pre-landing phase have been studied. A plenty of vertical take-off and vertical landing (VTVL) reusable launch vehicle have been gradually developed to access the space allowing for reducing the flight operation costs and realizing reusability such as Falcon 9. The goal of this article is increasing the accuracy and safety of the guidance and control system of the launch vehicle in order to successfully land on the ground station. Integrated guidance and control, being a novel method in guidance and control, is used to guide the launch vehicle in the re-entry phase and landing phase on the ground. The returning object studied is a Falcon 9 rocket for which we find the 6 DOF model. This vehicle has a vertical landing phase and implementing an integrated guidance and control system is a novel approach in this area. The controller used in this article is based on sliding-mode. This controller has an acceptable performance against the uncertainties and indefinite values of the system parameters. GPOPS software is used to create the initial flight path of the launch vehicle. This software calculates the optimal landing path with respect to dynamic constraints, control constraints and a cost function. Genetic algorithm is used to find the constant parameters for guidance and control. In this work, a fast terminal sliding mode control is proposed for a VTVL reusable launch in the present of disturbance and uncertainties. Compared with the previous works, the proposed controller has satisfactory performances and achieves smaller steady-state error under the consideration of multiple simulation results. Results show that integrated guidance and control needs less bulk standard deviation than common guidance and control due to simultaneous solving of guidance and control equations. This causes the defined constraints not to surpass the acceptable values anywhere in the path.

Corn and Soybean are important crops for the world’s people. Agricultural planning relies heavily on monitoring and mapping corn and soybean fields. With the development of remote sensing technology and deep learning algorithms, corn and soybean fields are being managed more intelligently nowadays. By using Landsat-8 images with multi-temporal maps of NDVI index, we intend to compare deep learning models such as 1-D CNN, 1-D CNN-LSTM, and 2-D U-net for separating corn and soybean fields from other crops (because soybean and corn fields have similar NDVI curves) in the United States in 2020. It was found that the 2-D U-net model performed the most accurately for corn and soybean classes with Kappa coefficients of 88.48 and 88.89, respectively. This can be explained by the identification of complex features using NDVI multi-temporal indexes of March to November in the United States.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is marked by reduced acetylcholine receptor (AChR) density and an increase in nucleotide oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptors NLR family, pyrin domain containing 1 (NLRP1). We examined the effect of swimming and consumption of clove supplements on memory, dark cells, and α7nAChR and NLRP1 mRNA and protein expression in the hippocampus of the rat model of AD. Forty-eight rats were divided into six groups: sham (sh), healthy-control (HC), Alzheimer (-control (AC), -training (AT), -training-supplement (ATS), and -supplement (AS)). Alzheimer was induced by injection of amyloid β1–42 (Aβ1–42). Swimming exercise protocol (30 min) and gavaging clove supplement (0.1 mg/kg) were administered daily for three weeks. The results indicated that in response to AD, α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) mRNA and protein rate (p = 0.001) and memory (p = 0.003) were significantly decreased. In contrast, NLRP1 mRNA and protein rate (p = 0.001) and dark cells (p = 0.001) were significantly increased. Background. Prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been reported to be higher in the institutionalized mentally disabled patients than that of the general population previously reported in Iran. This study aims to investigate HBV infection among nurses and families of the hospitalized mentally disabled patients. Material and methods. This study was conducted on 110 nurses and family members of the mentally disabled patients who were hospitalized in five residential care centers of Tehran. The presence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B core antibody (HBcAb) was examined using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Afterwards, HBV DNA was extracted, and then propagated via a nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and specific primers. Finally, a phylogenetic tree was constructed using the neighbor-joining method to compare virus genomes in the nurses’ serum with other isolated HBVs worldwide. Results. Out of 102 studied nurses, three (3%) were positive for HBsAg (100% female). Also, no patient was positive for the HBV genome, while eight (7.3%) nurses were positive for HBcAb including two (25%) males and six (75%) females. Genome sequencing of one DNA positive sample showed that the isolated virus from this patient contained sub genotype D1 and subtype ayw2. The results of none of the family members were positive for HBsAg, HBcAb, or HBV DNA. Conclusion. This study showed a higher prevalence of HBsAg among nurses (3%) compared to the Iranian general population (1.7–2.1%). The virus isolated from the nurses belonged to subgenotype D1 and subtype ayw2 in accordance with previous Iranian reports. Also, there was no drug-resistant or vaccine-escape mutations in the obtained viral genome. Moreover, low immune pressure on the virus in the asymptomatic chronic HBV patients might be responsible for low nucleotide divergence among the derived HBV genome.

Toxoid vaccines can provide protective immunity against clostridial diseases. Since the duration of the toxoid vaccine immunogenicity is short, these vaccines need to contain an adjuvant. The nanoparticles of chitosan can stimulate humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. In the present study, the effect of chitosan nanoparticles was investigated on the immunogenicity of the pentavalent clostridial toxoid vaccine containing Clostridium perfringens types D, C, and B, Clostridium septicum, as well as Clostridium novyi. Rabbits were immunized by two injections with 3-week intervals and checked clinically and through autopsy 2 weeks after the last injection. Hematological changes were investigated during immunization, including the changes of white and red blood cell counts, hemoglobin, packed cell volume, platelet, neutrophil, lymphocyte, eosinophil, basophile, monocyte, and Neut/Lymph. Biochemical factors, namely creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, glucose, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, total protein, and albumin, were also studied. The changes in immune responses during the immunization period were investigated through indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results of ELISA showed that chitosan significantly enhanced immunogenicity when accompanied with in the pentavalent clostridial toxoid vaccine. During the immunogenicity period and following that, no changes were observed in clinical behavior and internal organs after autopsy. Clostridium septicum, the anaerobic toxigenic bacterium is the agent that causes dangerous disease in man and animals. There is a lethal toxin of the bacterium namely alpha toxin. The ɑ-toxin has hemolytic, necrotic and lethal activities. Today, Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute of Iran produced the C. septicum vaccine in the form of bacterin/toxoid. Because of some problems, the vaccine needs to improve on an industrial scale. The study is going to find an appropriate supplement to improve growth and ɑ-toxin production. Three strains of C. septicum (vaccine, NH1 and NH8 strains) were cultured in the basic vaccine media. Magnesium sulfate, Copper, Ferrous, yeast extract, and trace elements plus vitamins' solution were added to the basic vaccine media in different cultures. The effect of the ingredients on the growth was measured by a spectrophotometer and the α-toxin secretion was assayed by hemolysin test. Growth of the bacterium and α-toxin secretion were increased by Magnesium (80 mg/l) in NH8 and vaccine strains significantly. The black precipitate was difficult to dissolve in magnesium media that must be solved. Trace elements plus vitamins solution mildly influence on NH1strain growth and toxin secretion. Other supplements (Cu, Fe, yeast extract) were not showen any significant changes in the growth and α-toxin production of C. septicum. Overflowing peptone (4%) in the vaccine media, fixes essentials of proteolysis activity, allows the sufficient growth and toxin production without Cu, Fe, and yeast extract. Due to essentially of Mg for growth, extra magnesium was added for improvement of media culture. The study suggests for Magnesium addition in the C. septicum vaccine media during production procedure after precipitation solving problem.

In general, rivers are one of the best and most accessible water resources at the disposal of mankind. So, given the effect of the force of water and changes on the flow patterns and consequently, on river morphology changes, the analysis of the flow in the river is important and necessary to organize projects, flood control and water supply structures downstream. In this study, by using numerical models CCHE2D hydraulic conditions Dimeh River Bridge between Oregon Bridge Sudjan was investigated. CCHE Model is a mathematical model capable of simulating the flow patterns and sediment transport in rivers and canals laboratory network. The numerical model in 1998, based on the calculations by the National Centre for Water Science and Engineering, University of Mississippi (NCCHE), was developed and has been applied in many research projects related to water engineering. At the outset, the input data required model provides and numerical model was implemented. In the next step, the results of the model were calibrated and validated using field data measurements; eventually, they were extracted and their model results were compared; it was confirmed that CCHE model could still simulate the flow pattern.

This research was conducted to study effects of G × E interaction on 38 selected genotypes of cotton with two commercial cultivars Golestan and Sepid (control) in a randomized complete block design with three replications at three locations in Golestan Province in 2014-15. The measured characteristics were included: plant height, sympodial length, sympodial number, boll number, boll weight, seed cotton yield and earliness. Analysis of variance showed that genotype effect is significant in 1 or 5% probability levels on measured traits except for boll number and earliness. A significant interaction effect between genotype × locations in yield showed different variation trends in various locations. So that genotype 29 had the best performance in Hashemabad station but genotypes 24 and 18 showed their best performances in Gonbad and Anbarolum station respectively. Stability parameters were calculated and genotype No. 8 was defined according to regression slope close to 1 as the most stable genotypes among. This genotype had a smaller share in genotype and environment interaction according to Rick ecovalans and Shukla stability variance parameters and 10 and 33 were the most unstable genotypes in terms of performance. GGE biplot method showed that the first two principal components regression model explained 74% of the observed changes. GGE biplot graph plotted by software reflected the superior genotypes TJ82, ER26, DB29, DB19, DB25 and ER36 respectively. Also Hashemabad has been identified as appropriate region for ER26 genotype and TJ82 was identified as the best and most stable genotype.

In this work, poly (hydroxybutyrate co hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) composite nanofibrous scaffold containing hydroxyapatite/bredigite (HABR) nanoparticles was fabricated through electrospining method. The morphology of prepared nanofibers and the state of the nanoparticles dispersion in nanofiber matrix were investigated using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, respectively. Evaluation of the mechanical properties of the nanofibrous scaffolds revealed that there is a limit to the nanoparticle concentration at which nanoparticles can improve the mechanical properties of the nanofibrous scaffolds. According to the results, PHBV/HABR nanofibers showed higher wettability compared to PHBV nanofibers. In vitro cell culture assay was done using human fetal osteoblast cells on nanofibrous scaffold. MTS assay revealed that cell proliferation on the composite nanofibrous scaffold was significantly higher than those on the pure scaffold after 10 and 15 days. Scanning electron microscopy- Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and CMFDA colorimeter assay analysis showed that the cells on the PHBV/HABR scaffolds acquired higher mineral deposition than the cells on the pure PHBV and control sample scaffold. Based on the results we concluded that PHBV/HABR nanofibers scaffold with higher wettability, improved mechanical properties and cell behavior hold great potential in bone regeneration applications.

In this paper, a robust control law is proposed, based on Lyapunov’s theory and sliding mode control theory, in order to track the angle of attack in nonlinear longitudinal dynamics of a missile. It is assumed that there are unmatched uncertainties in the nonlinear systems. In the proposed algorithm, the controller gains are optimized by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. For this purpose, a cost function is extracted from the output tracking error. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance than conventional Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller in the presence of unmatched uncertainties.

Most rivers have flood plains that extend laterally away from the main channel at a gentle gradient or in a series of terraces. Multistage channels are deliberately formed in certain cases in order to increase conveyance capacity in large floods, and to have recreational expanses available at other times of the year. Two-stage channels, thus consist typically of a main river channel in which there is some discharge all of the time and flood plains, which are dry for most of the time, yet perform a vital function in times of flood. Since flood alleviation schemes are the focus of much of engineering work, the prediction of the conveyance capacity, velocity distribution and boundary shear stress distribution in such channels is clearly important. The boundary shear stress distribution is a prerequisite for studies on bank protection and sediment transport. Prediction of these parameters in two stage or compound channels is complicated by the lateral exchange of momentum that takes place in the shear layer that forms between the generally faster moving water in the main river channel and the slower moving water on the flood plain. Superposition of high lateral shear on bed-generated turbulence and longitudinal secondary flow structures is a convoluted problem in fluid mechanics. In the context of the river channels with flood plains, the problem is usually further complicated even for moderately straight channels by the complex geometry of the cross-section and the heterogeneous nature of the boundary roughness.

Discrete facility location, Distribution center, Logistics, Inventory policy, Queueing theory, Markov processes, The distribution center location problem is a crucial question for logistics decision makers. The optimization of these decisions needs careful attention to the fixed facility costs, inventory costs, transportation costs and customer responsiveness. In this paper we study the location selection of a distribution center which satisfies demands with a M/M/1 finite queueing system plus balking and reneging. The distribution center uses one for one inventory policy, where each arrival demand orders a unit of product to the distribution center and the distribution center refers this demand to its supplier. The matrix geometric method is applied to model the queueing system in order to obtain the steady-state probabilities and evaluate some performance measures. A cost model is developed to determine the best location for the distribution center and its optimal storage capacity and a numerical example is presented to determine the computability of the results derived in this study .

The importance of reliable supply is increasing with supply chain network extension and just-in-time (JIT) production. Just in time implications motivate manufacturers towards single sourcing, which often involves problems with unreliable suppliers. If a single and reliable vendor is not available, manufacturer can split the order among the vendors in order to simultaneously decrease the supply chain uncertainty and increase supply reliability. In this paper we discuss with the aim of minimizing the shortage cost how we can split orders among suppliers with different lead times. The (s,S) policy is the basis of our inventory control system and for analyzing the system performance we use the fuzzy queuing methodology. After applying the model for the case study (SAPCO), the result of the developed model will be compared in the single and multiple cases and finally we will find that order splitting in optimized condition will conclude in the least supply risk and minimized shortage cost in comparison to other cases .

In today’s rapid changing market situations, many nations and companies try to keep or make better their situation and gain more market share by creating competitive advantages. Because of growing number of uncertain parameters in the environment and lack of information about the future, the strategic choice has become very complex and critical. One of the popular tools for solving the problem is scenario analysis. In this paper based on fuzzy clustering we propose a method for building, analyzing and ranking the possible scenarios. To cope with the issue of uncertain parameters of the environment in strategic planning, we use the concept of fuzzy set theory to enhance the proposed method. Finally the performance of the proposed method is illustrated in a strategic planning case in a pharmaceutical company.

Background and Objectives Non-traumatic acute abdominal pain is one of the most common complaints in patients referred to emergency department. To make diagnosis decision several diagnostic tests such as WBC count, urine analysis, and abdominal sonography are usually ordered which disturb emergency department, staff and force significant cost to patient and are time consuming. This study was done for determining the tests frequency for diagnosis of patients presenting in ED of Hazrat e rasoul hospital with non traumatic acute abdominal pain that had been dismissed from hospital in comparison to previous studies to find whether we can omit some unnecessary tests. MethodsStudy method was descriptive-cross sectional. By sequential sampling, the data of 400 dismissed patients with non-traumatic acute abdominal pain were gathered and interpreted by statistical descriptive methods.ResultsParticipants were 29-22 years old, 40.8% male and 59.2% female. WBC had been ordered in 92% of cases. Urine analysis and abdominal sonography had been ordered 91.7% and 95.5% respectively. Frequency of CBC ordering was similar to previous studies while was 2 and 4 fold more for UA and abdominal sonography in comparison to previous studies.ConclusionThese results necessitate revising the diagnostic tests for non-traumatic acute abdominal pain to omit unnecessary tests.Keywords: Abdominal Pain; Diagnostic Tests; Emergencies

The actual advances in mineral processing technologies aim mainly to increase the supply of newly mined metals and reducing the cost of enrichment process. In this context, the solar grade silicon (SoG-Si) as feedstock for photovoltaic cells production requires a high purity. Its cycle of production consists on: a silica enrichment, carbothermic reduction for obtaining metallurgical grade silicon (MG-Si) and purification of MG-Si to get a high solar grade silicon. However, in order to achieve this goal preliminary silica enrichment, it is necessary to reduce a maximum of impurities before the carbothermic and purification processes. This process will allow a high quality of silica required (99 % of SiO2) as raw material for solar silicon grade production, which makes the processes downstream cited more efficient with a high yield. In the present work, we have studied the silica enrichment process using a magnetic separation technology in laboratory scale, which consists firstly in silica characterization by X-Ray Fluorescence of Hoggar quartz samples in order to locate the ferromagnetic impurities incrusted in the crystal lattice or on its surface, secondly to use magnetic separation process to increase the SiO2 content and to optimize its technological parameters before using leaching technology.

These figures confirm our previous observations regarding the encouraging effectiveness of combined prophylactic treatment of severely exposed individuals with antirabies serum and vaccine. It illustrates precisely the necessity of: I ) The administration of the combined treatment in all severely exposed cases regardless of delay between the exposure and the initiation of the treatment. 2) The administration of booster 10 and 20 days after the termination of the full course of the treatment. It is preferable to administer a third booster dose 90 days after the completion of the treatment.
