New technology and improved treatment protocols are leading to better outcomes for patients with prostate cancer. The controversy surrounding prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing continues, but advancements in understanding the growth of certain prostate cancers have improved patient prognoses at every stage of the disease. Prostate cancer remains one of the most common cancers among men, but the majority of patients will live for years after diagnosis and are more likely to die from unrelated causes.
