Abstract Background Emerging evidence has indicated a link between the gut microbiota and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). However, the acute changes in gut microbiota during chemotherapy and the predictive value of baseline gut microbiota in infectious complication remain largely unknown. Methods Faecal samples (n = 126) from children with ALL (n = 49) undergoing induction chemotherapy were collected at three timepoints, i.e., initiation of chemotherapy (baseline, T0), 7 days (T1) and 33 days (T2) after initiation of chemotherapy. Gut microbiome profile was performed via metagenomic shotgun sequencing. The bioBakery3 pipeline (Kneaddata, Metaphlan 3 and HUMAnN) was performed to assign taxonomy and functional annotations. Gut microbiome at T0 were used to predict infection during chemotherapy. Results The microbial diversities and composition changed significantly during chemotherapy, with Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Bifidobacterium longum being the most prominent species. The microbial metabolic pathways were also significantly altered during chemotherapy, including the pathway of pyruvate fermentation to acetate and lactate, and assimilatory sulfate reduction pathway. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) models based on Bifidobacterium longum at T0 could predict infectious complications during the first month of chemotherapy with the area under the curve (AUC) of 0.720. Conclusions Our study provides new insights into the acute changes in microbial and functional characteristics in children with ALL during chemotherapy. The baseline gut microbiota could be potential biomarkers for infections during chemotherapy. BackgroundPatients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD) often face nutritional deficiencies due to inadequate intake, nutrient loss, insufficient dialysis, and a state of micro-inflammatory. Traditional nutritional management methods have not fully met personalized needs. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and evaluate an application for generating recipes based on Generative Pre-trained Transformers to improve the nutritional status of these patients.MethodsThis self-controlled prospective study included 35 patients undergoing PD from January to February 2024. The study was divided into two phases: the initial phase involved conventional dietary education under PD management, followed by a second phase where a new GPT-based dietary guidance tool was introduced. Patients adhered to the diets recommended by the tool. Nutritional intervention effects were assessed by comparing serum prealbumin, albumin, and phosphate levels before and after the intervention.ResultsAfter the intervention, the mean prealbumin levels significantly improved from 289.04 ± 74.60 mg/L to 326.72 ± 78.89 mg/L (p = 0.001). Although there was no statistical significance, the serum albumin levels in patients increased from 34.70 ± 5.94 g/L to 35.66 ± 5.14 g/L (p = 0.153). Serum phosphate levels remained stable and within safe limits (p = 0.241).ConclusionThe AI-based recipe generation application significantly improved serum prealbumin levels in PD patients without causing adverse changes in phosphate levels, confirming its efficacy and safety in nutritional management for these patients. This study highlights the potential and practical value of AI technology in nutritional management for patients with chronic disease, providing important evidence for future clinical applications.

mRNA platform holds promise for next-generation Varicella-zoster Virus (VZV) vaccine development due to its high potency at inducing strong T-cell response. Built upon the design of our 1st-generation VZV mRNA vaccine that encodes for full-length gE antigen, in this study we reported on a novel combinatorial strategy to further optimize the gE-encoding mRNA sequence through signal peptide replacement, C-terminal modification, and insertion of mRNA-stabilizing motif, which collectively contributed to significantly improved vaccine immunogenicity. In adult mice, aged mice, and immunocompromised mice, this optimized VZV mRNA vaccine showed strong superiority in multiple aspects including the induction of gE-specific antibodies, specific memory B-cell response, as well as Th1-type T-cell response.

ABSTRACTHerpes zoster remains an important global health issue and mainly occurs in aged and immunocompromised individuals with an early exposure history to Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV). Although the licensed vaccine Shingrix has remarkably high efficacy, undesired reactogenicity and increasing global demand causing vaccine shortage urged the development of improved or novel VZV vaccines. In this study, we developed a novel VZV mRNA vaccine candidate (named as ZOSAL) containing sequence-optimized mRNAs encoding full-length glycoprotein E encapsulated in an ionizable lipid nanoparticle. In mice and rhesus macaques, ZOSAL demonstrated superior immunogenicity and safety in multiple aspects over Shingrix, especially in the induction of strong T-cell immunity. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that both ZOSAL and Shingrix could robustly activate innate immune compartments, especially Type-I IFN signalling and antigen processing/presentation. Multivariate correlation analysis further identified several early factors of innate compartments that can predict the magnitude of T-cell responses, which further increased our understanding of the mode of action of two different VZV vaccine modalities. Collectively, our data demonstrated the superiority of VZV mRNA vaccine over licensed subunit vaccine. The mRNA platform therefore holds prospects for further investigations in next-generation VZV vaccine development.

The transformation of salvianolic acid B brought on by heat treatment recovery of ethanol eluent, which is a difficult problem in pharmaceutical technology, affects the purity of raw material when the medicinal raw material salvianolic acid B is purified by resin. Ultrasonic-assisted nanofiltration separation (UANS) was first employed to improve efficiency of resource utilization by regulating rejection and separating salvianolic acid B and rosmarinic acid from organic pharmaceutical wastewater. The rejection was related to three variables: ultrasonic power, pH, and ethanol concentration. But there were differences in the effects of variables on the rejections of salvianolic acid B and rosmarinic acid. The rejections of rosmarinic acid and salvianolic acid B showed a decreasing trend with an increase in ultrasonic power or a decrease in pH; however, when the concentration of ethanol was increased from 5 % to 35 %, the salvianolic acid B rejection increased from 84.96 % to 96.60 % and the rosmarinic acid rejection decreased from 35.09 % to 17.51 %. On the basis of response surface methodology (RSM), the optimal UANS parameters for solution conditions involving different ethanol concentrations are as follows: 10 % ethanol solution (ultrasonic power 500 W and pH 6.15), 20 % ethanol solution (ultrasonic power 500 W and pH 6.54), and 30 % ethanol solution (ultrasonic power 460 W and pH 6.34). The molecular proportions of salvianolic acid B were 10.75 %, 7.13 %, and 8.27 % in 10 %, 20 %, and 30 % ethanol wastewater, while the molecular proportions of rosmarinic acid were 40.52 %, 33.83 %, and 69.87 %, respectively. And the recoveries of salvianolic acid B in 10 %, 20 %, and 30 % ethanol wastewater were 93.56 %, 95.04 %, and 97.30 %, respectively, while the recoveries of rosmarinic acid were 3.19 %, 2.27 %, and 0.56 %. The molecular proportion and the rejection are correlated exponentially. In comparison with conventional nanofiltration separation (CNS), UANS is able to resolve the conflict between rosmarinic acid and salvianolic acid B in pharmaceutical wastewater, as well as enhance resource recycling and separation efficiency to prevent pollution of the environment from pharmaceutical wastewater. Experiments using UANS at different power intensities suggest that the ultrasonic at a power intensity of 46–50 W/L and the power density of 0.92–1.00 W/cm2 may resolve the separation conflict between rosmarinic acid and salvianolic acid B. This work suggests that UANS may be a significant advancement in the field of ultrasonic separation and has several potential uses in the water treatment industry.

BackgroundSchistosomiasis japonica represents a significant public health concern in South Asia. There is an urgent need to optimize existing schistosomiasis diagnostic techniques. This study aims to develop models for the different stages of liver fibrosis caused by Schistosoma infection utilizing ultrasound radiomics and machine learning techniques.MethodsFrom 2018 to 2022, we retrospectively collected data on 1,531 patients and 5,671 B-mode ultrasound images from the Second People's Hospital of Duchang City, Jiangxi Province, China. The datasets were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria suitable for radiomics models. Liver fibrosis due to Schistosoma infection (LFSI) was categorized into four stages: grade 0, grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3. The data were divided into six binary classification problems, such as group 1 (grade 0 vs. grade 1) and group 2 (grade 0 vs. grade 2). Key radiomic features were extracted using Pyradiomics, the Mann-Whitney U test, and the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO). Machine learning models were constructed using Support Vector Machine (SVM), and the contribution of different features in the model was described by applying Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP).ResultsThis study ultimately included 1,388 patients and their corresponding images. A total of 851 radiomics features were extracted for each binary classification problems. Following feature selection, 18 to 76 features were retained from each groups. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for the validation cohorts was 0.834 (95% CI: 0.779-0.885) for the LFSI grade 0 vs. LFSI grade 1, 0.771 (95% CI: 0.713-0.835) for LFSI grade 1 vs. LFSI grade 2, and 0.830 (95% CI: 0.762-0.885) for LFSI grade 2 vs. LFSI grade 3.ConclusionMachine learning models based on ultrasound radiomics are feasible for classifying different stages of liver fibrosis caused by Schistosoma infection.

In this study, porous Ti/Magnéli Ti4O7 nanotube arrays (NTA) was fabricated to pretreat antibiotic wastewater. Characterization of the Ti4O7-NTA illustrated that highly ordered NTA was successfully generated on the porous Ti substrate, which enlarged the specific surface area by 1.67 times. The Ti4O7-NTA has a high oxygen evolution potential (2.60 V) as well as low interfacial charge transfer resistance (4.479 Ω cm−2). Ceftriaxone sodium (CRO) was completely removed from raw antibiotic wastewater after 3 h of treatment by the Ti4O7-NTA, under optimal operation conditions. The biodegradability and toxicity of the wastewater were also significantly enhanced and reduced, as the BOD/COD and EC50,48h values were increased to 0.48 and 57.62 % ± 2.16 %, respectively. The possible degradation pathway of CRO was proposed by LC‒MS. Cathodic polarization was proven to be an effective way to ensure the long-term durability of the Ti4O7-NTA.

Abstract Here we report on the development and comprehensive evaluations of an mRNA vaccine for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) treatment. In two different HBV carrier mouse models generated by viral vector-mediated HBV transfection (pAAV-HBV1.2 and rAAV8-HBV1.3), this vaccine demonstrates sufficient and persistent virological suppression, and robust immunogenicity in terms of induction of strong innate immune activation, high-level virus-specific antibodies, memory B cells and T cells. mRNA platform therefore holds prospects for therapeutic vaccine development to combat CHB.

Background & Aims: The functional maturation of the liver largely occurs after birth. In the early stages of life, the liver of a newborn encounters enormous high-fat metabolic stress caused by the consumption of breast milk. It is unclear how the maturing liver adapts to high lipid metabolism. Liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) play a fundamental role in establishing liver vasculature and are decorated with many glycoproteins on their surface. The Slc35a1 gene encodes a cytidine-5'-monophosphate (CMP)-sialic acid transporter responsible for transporting CMP-sialic acids between the cytoplasm and the Golgi apparatus for protein sialylation. This study aimed to determine whether endothelial sialylation plays a role in hepatic vasculogenesis and functional maturation. Methods: Endothelial-specific Slc35a1 knockout mice were generated. Liver tissues were collected for histologic analysis, lipidomic profiling, RNA sequencing, confocal immunofluorescence, and immunoblot analyses. Results: Endothelial Slc35a1-deficient mice exhibited excessive neonatal hepatic lipid deposition, severe liver damage, and high mortality. Endothelial deletion of Slc35a1 led to sinusoidal capillarization and disrupted hepatic zonation. Mechanistically, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) in LSECs was desialylated and VEGFR2 signaling was enhanced in Slc35a1-deficient mice. Inhibition of VEGFR2 signaling by SU5416 alleviated lipid deposition and restored hepatic vasculature in Slc35a1-deficient mice. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that sialylation of LSECs is critical for maintaining hepatic vascular development and lipid homeostasis. Targeting VEGFR2 signaling may be a new strategy to prevent liver disorders associated with abnormal vasculature and lipid deposition.

The aim of this review was to delve into the extent of mosquito virome coverage (proportion of viral reads) via meta-viromic sequencing and uncover potential factors of heterogeneity that could impact this coverage. Data sources were PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, Science-Direct, Google Scholar, and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Pooled coverage was estimated using random-effects modeling, and subgroup analyses further reveal potential heterogeneous factors. Within the three mosquito genera studied, Culex exhibited the highest pooled viral coverage of mosquito viromes at 7.09% (95% CI: 3.44–11.91%), followed by Anopheles at 5.28% (95% CI: 0.45–14.93%), and Aedes at 2.11% (95% CI: 0.58–7.66%). Subgroup analyses showed that multiple processing methods significantly affected the viral coverage of mosquito viromes, especially pre-treatment of mosquito samples with saline buffer/medium and antibiotics prior to DNase/RNase treatment and removal of the host genome prior to RNA library construction. In conclusion, the results of this study demonstrate that the viral coverage of mosquito viromes varies between mosquito genera and that pre-treatment of mosquito samples with saline buffer/medium and antibiotics before DNase/RNase treatment and removing host genomes prior to RNA library construction are critical for the detection of RNA viruses in mosquito vectors using meta-viromic sequencing.

Abstract Purpose To perform an in vivo evaluation of the changes in Schlemm’s canal (SC) among patients with primary angle-closure disease (PACD) using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT). Methods Patients diagnosed with PACD who had not undergone surgery were recruited. The SS-OCT quadrants scanned herein included the nasal and temporal sections at 3 and 9 o’clock, respectively. The diameter and cross-sectional area of the SC were measured. A linear mixed-effects model was performed to analyze the effects of parameters on the SC changes. The hypothesis of interest was related to the angle status (iridotrabecular contact, ITC/open angle, OPN), which was further explored with pairwise comparisons of the estimated marginal means (EMMs) of the SC diameter and SC area. In the ITC regions, the relationship between the trabecular-iris contact length (TICL) percentage and SC parameters was also studied by a mixed model. Results A total of 49 eyes of 35 patients were included for measurements and analysis. The percentage of observable SCs in the ITC regions was only 58.5% (24/41), whereas it was 86.0% (49/57) in the OPN regions (χ2 = 9.44, p = 0.002). ITC was significantly associated with a decreasing SC size. The EMMs for the diameter and cross-sectional area of SC at the ITC and OPN regions were 203.34 μm versus 261.41 μm (p = 0.006) and 3174.43 μm2 versus 5347.63 μm2 (p = 0.022), respectively. Sex, age, spherical equivalent refraction, intraocular pressure, axial length, extent of angle closure, history of acute attack and treatment with LPI were not significantly associated with SC parameters. In the ITC regions, a larger TICL percentage was significantly associated with a decrease in SC diameter and area (p = 0.003 and 0.019, respectively). Conclusions The morphologies of SC could be affected by the angle status (ITC/OPN) in patients with PACD, and ITC was significantly associated with a decreasing SC size. These changes in SC as described by OCT scans might help to elucidate the progression mechanisms of PACD.

Background: In the 21st century, as globalization accelerates and global public health crises occur, the One Health approach, guided by the holistic thinking of human-animal-environment and emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration to address global health issues, has been strongly advocated by the international community. An immediate requirement exists for the creation of an assessment tool to foster One Health initiatives on both global and national scales. Methods: Built upon extensive expert consultations and dialogues, this follow-up study enhances the 2022 global One Health index (GOHI) indicator system. The GOHI framework is enriched by covering three indices, e.g. external drivers index (EDI), intrinsic drivers index (IDI), and core drivers index (CDI). The comprehensive indicator system incorporates 13 key indicators, 50 indicators, and 170 sub I-indicators, utilizing a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to ascertain the weight for each indicator. Weighted and summed, the EDI, IDI, and CDI scores contribute to the computation of the overall GOHI 2022 score. By comparing the ranking and the overall scores among the seven regions and across 160 countries/territories, we have not only derived an overall profile of the GOHI 2022 scores, but also assessed the GOHI framework. We also compared rankings of indicators and sub I-indicators to provide greater clarity on the strengths and weaknesses of each region within the One Health domains. Results: The GOHI 2022 performance reveals significant disparities between countries/territories ranged from 39.03 to 70.61. The global average score of the GOHI 2022 is 54.82. The average score for EDI, IDI, and CDI are 46.57, 58.01, and 57.25, respectively. In terms of global rankings, countries from North America, Europe and Central Asia, East Asia and Pacific present higher scores. In terms of One Health domains of CDI, the lowest scores are observed in antimicrobial resistance (median: 43.09), followed by food security (median: 53.78), governance (median: 54.77), climate change (median: 64.12) and zoonotic diseases (median: 69.23). Globally, the scores of GOHI vary spatially, with the highest score in North America while lowest in sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, evidence shows associations between the socio–demographic profile of countries/territories and their GOHI performance in certain One Health scenarios. Conclusion: The objective of GOHI is to guide impactful strategies for enhancing capacity building in One Health. With advanced technology and an annually updated database, intensifying efforts to refine GOHI's data-mining methodologies become imperative. The goal is to offer profound insights into disparities and progressions in practical One Health implementation, particularly in anticipation of future pandemics.

Rapid urbanization has put the marine environment under great threat, and cities in the Bay Bottom area are more likely to cause a large number of ecological problems in urban development and construction due to their special land-sea interaction environment. Ecological network is an effective solution to coordinate regional ecological protection and sustainable urban development. This study focused on Chengyang District, one of the highly urbanized areas at the bottom of Jiaozhou Bay in Qingdao, China, was using Morphological Spatial Pattern Analysis (MSPA) to initially identify ecological source areas and extracting important ecological source areas in conjunction with the landscape connectivity assessment, and was determining ecological resistance values based on the importance of ecosystem services, and was optimizing ecological network by the minimum cumulative resistance model (MCR) and network structure analysis. The results indicated that: (1) the habitat in Chengyang District is severely fragmented, and the ecological network structure has significant features in terms of source area, type and corridor distribution, with a low percentage of source area, identification of characteristic source types such as reservoirs, wetlands, and aquaculture ponds, while the corridors are concentrated in the area of rivers and bays, and there is fragmentation in the inland areas of the city. (2) Preliminarily, 15 ecological source sites were identified, mainly distributed in the vicinity of Jiaozhou Bay Wetland, Jihongtan Reservoir and Laoshan Mountain, among which, Jiaozhou Bay Wetland is the most important ecological source in Chengyang District. Thirty-two ecological nodes and 24 ecological corridors were constructed. (3) By increasing the inland ecological sources in Chengyang District, the optimized ecological network forms a spatial pattern of “four cores, three belts, and four districts”, and proposes and formulates targeted ecological protection and management strategies to promote the sustainable development of the urban areas in the bottom of the bay. In addition, this study provides a new reference for the global ecological protection of cities in the bay area by improving the ecological network of cities in the Bay Bottom area.

Background: Although invasive mycosis is a common complication of hematologic malignancies, invasive Fusarium infection, especially systemic disseminated Fusarium infection is rare, which has a high mortality due to remarkable intrinsic drug resistance. Result: We reported a case of 5-year-old high-risk acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) female patient complicated with disseminated Fusarium solani infection during the course of chemotherapy. After diagnosis of ALL, the case was treated according to the South China Children's Leukemia Group-ALL-2016 protocol, and achieved a molecular complete response. On the seventh day of reinduction chemotherapy, she experienced endophthalmitis in the right eye along with recurrent high fever. Three days later, endophthalmitis spread to the left eye, blood culture and next-generation sequencing returned positive result for Fusarium solani. The patient was subsequently treated with antifungal therapy including Amphotericin B, Voriconazole and Posaconazole together with supportive treatments, but the effects were less satisfying. The patient then developed endocarditis, encephalitis, arthritis and other disseminated lesions caused by Fusarium solani infection, and eventually died of multiple organ failure. Conclusion: This case we reported highlights the lethality of disseminated Fusarium species infection in immunocompromised patients. Therefore, early diagnosis and timely anti-infective treatments are of utmost importance as that helps in controlling the spread of infection thereby leading to a favorable outcome.

Decades of research have illuminated the significant roles of gold/gold oxide clusters in small molecule catalytic oxidation. However, many fundamental questions, such as the actual sites to adsorb and activate O2 and the impact of charge, remain unanswered. Here, we have utilized an improved genetic algorithm program coupled with the DFT method to systematically search for the structures of Au1–5Ox−/+/0 (x = 1–4) and calculated binding interactions between Au1–5Ox−/+/0 (x = 1–2) and O2, aiming to determine the active sites and to elucidate the impact of different charge states in gold oxide systems. The results revealed that the reactivity of all three kinds of small gold oxide clusters toward O2 is strongly site-dependent, with clusters featuring an -O-Au site exhibiting a preference for adsorption. The charges on small gold oxide clusters significantly impact the interaction strength and the activation degree of adsorbed O2: in the case of anionic cluster, the interaction between O2 and the -O-Au sites leads to a chemical reaction involving electron transfer, thereby significantly activating O2; in neutral and cationic clusters, the adsorption of O2 on their -O-Au sites can be viewed as an electrostatic interaction. Pointedly, for cationic clusters, the highly concentrated positive charge on the Au atom of the -O-Au sites can strongly adsorb but hardly activate the adsorbed O2. These results have certain reference points for understanding the gold oxide interfaces and the improved catalytic oxidation performance of gold-based systems in the presence of atomic oxygen species.

BackgroundOverexpression of the cytokine receptor-like factor 2 (CRLF2) gene is the most common feature in the Philadelphia chromosome (Ph)-like subtype of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). However, the predictive value of CRLF2 overexpression for the prognosis of pediatric B-ALL patients remain controversial. The molecular mechanisms that upregulate CRLF2 expression level in patients has not been fully elucidated.MethodsIn this study, the prognostic impact of CRLF2 expression level on molecular types of B-ALL in pediatric patients from Zhujiang Hospital (n = 111) was retrospectively analyzed. Youden index analysis was used to categorize CRLF2 expression into 3 groups, and these categories more precisely described the differences in the prognosis of patients with varying expression levels of CRLF2 in both the Zhujiang Hospital cohort and the TARGET cohort.ResultsWe used the Zhujiang Hospital cohort as a discovery cohort to determine the cutoff value of CRLF2 expression. CRLF2-high patients accounted for approximately 6%. In addition, the percentage of bone marrow blast cells and initial white blood cell count in CRLF2-high patients were higher than those in CRLF2-low patients, and MRD turned negative slower. The results were validated in the TARGET cohort and indicated that CRLF2 overexpression could be subdivided by CRLF2 expression levels into 2 categories: CRLF2-high with a poor survival and CRLF2-medium with a good OS and EFS. Such heterogeneity was attributed to the different molecular mechanisms leading to CLRF2 upregulation, where the CRLF2 overexpression level was high in Ph-like B-ALL and medium in high hyperdiploid B-ALL.ConclusionThis study highlights the importance of the molecular mechanisms of the upregulation of CRLF2 expression in predicting the prognosis of pediatric B-ALL patients.

Abstract Designing photodetectors (PDs) with fast response and low power consumption is important for the realization of photoelectric conversion in photoelectric integrated systems. The emerging metal halide perovskite is proven to be a promising material for PD array devices due to its excellent photoelectric performance and large‐area production. However, the array integration of self‐powered perovskite PDs still faces challenges due to the incompatibility between perovskite and micro‐nano processing, hindering practical applications. Here, a perovskite‐compatible device fabrication process is reported for the construction of a perovskite PD array (10 × 10 pixels) with asymmetric contacts, enabling self‐powered photodetection and high‐performance imaging applications. Au and ITO/ZnO electrodes are deposited on the substrate in sequence as the asymmetric contacts. Patterned CH3NH3PbI3 films with uniform and pinhole‐free morphology are then synthesized by a photolithography‐assisted vapor–solution fabrication method as the photosensitive material. The introduction of asymmetric electrodes enables the easy collection of holes at the Au electrode side and electrons at the ITO/ZnO electrode side with light irradiation, resulting in self‐powered photodetection performance. Moreover, the PD array exhibits a uniform distribution of light response and is successfully demonstrated for light imaging. This work opens up a new avenue to develop large‐scale high‐performance perovskite optoelectronic devices with low power consumption.

BackgroundPrevious genetic-epidemiological studies considered TERT (rs2736100), CCDC26 (rs4295627), CDKN2A/B (rs4977756) and RTEL1 (rs6010620) gene polymorphisms as the risk factors specific to glioma. However, the data samples of previous genetic-epidemiological studies are modest to determine whether they have definite association with glioma.MethodThe study paid attention to systematically searching databases of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Cochrane Library and Google Scholars. Meta-analysis under 5 genetic models, namely recessive model (RM), over-dominant model (O-DM), allele model (AM), co-dominant model (C-DM) and dominant model (DM) was conducted for generating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). That was accompanied by subgroup analyses according to various racial groups. The software STATA 17.0 MP was implemented in the study.Result21 articles were collected. According to data analysis results, in four genetic models (AM, RM, DM and C-DM) TERT gene rs2736100 polymorphism, CCDC26 gene rs4295627 polymorphism, CDKN2A/B gene rs4977756 polymorphism and RTEL1 gene rs6010620 polymorphisms increased the risk of glioma in Caucasians to different degrees. In Asian populations, the CCDC26 gene rs4295627 polymorphism and CDKN2A/B gene rs4977756 polymorphism did not exhibit a relevance to the risk of glioma. It is suggested to cautiously explain these results as the sample size is small.ConclusionThe current meta-analysis suggested that the SNP of TERT (rs2736100), CCDC26 (rs4295627), CDKN2A/B (rs4977756) and RTEL1 (rs6010620) genes in glioma might increase risk of glioma, but there are ethnic differences. Further studies evaluating these polymorphisms and glioma risk are warranted.

Abstract Background Sturge Weber syndrome (SWS), can cause extensive capillary malformations on the face, head, trunk, and other parts of the body, and the eyes can also suffer optic nerve injury. Secondary glaucoma can cause blindness, which has the characteristics of a relatively hidden onset and unclear pathogenesis. The treatment of SWS secondary glaucoma has always been difficult, and due to the characteristics of the disease, there is uncertainty about the long-term efficacy and safety of various treatment methods for such patients. Methods A total of 105 parents of children with SWS completed a self-designed general information questionnaire, a generalized anxiety questionnaire (GAD-7), a patient health questionnaire (PHQ-2), a stress perception scale (PSS-4), a simple coping scale (SCSQ) and a disease-uncertainty scale (PPUS). Results The total uncertainty score of parents of children with SWS was 79.07 ± 13.24, and the average item score was 2.82 ± 0.47. Abstract Glaucoma is the major cause of irreversible blindness in the world characterized by progressive retinal neurodegeneration, in which local inflammation in retina is involved in persistent loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). In order to explore whether aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and its agonists tryptophan metabolites are involved in the development of glaucoma, we collected serum and retinas from non-glaucoma controls and patients with glaucoma. Results showed altered serum tryptophan metabolism and reduced retinal AhR expression in glaucoma patients. We also showed intraperitoneally injection of tryptophan metabolite 2-(1′H-indole-3′-carbonyl)-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester (ITE) down-regulated retinal local inflammation and protected RGC apoptosis from retinal ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury via AhR activation. We further revealed that ITE could inhibit inflammation in BV2 microglia and alleviate the neurotoxicity of microglial conditioned medium to RGCs under IR. Finally, we illustrated the possible mechanism that ITE limited ERK and NFκB dependent microglial inflammation. In summary, these findings suggest the critical role of tryptophan metabolism and retinal AhR signaling in modulating local inflammation mediated by microglia in glaucoma, and provide a novel avenue to targeting the intrinsically altered AhR signaling resulted from disturbed tryptophan metabolism for glaucoma treatment.

Background: Oral mucositis is an acute adverse reaction with high incidence during radiotherapy. Severe oral mucositis can seriously affect patients’ quality of life and compliance with radiotherapy. The aim of this study was to identify the risk factors for severe oral mucositis and to develop a nomogram for predicting severe oral mucositis in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods: One hundred and ninety patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were retrospectively screened in this study. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the best predictors of severe oral mucositis. A nomogram was constructed based on the factors. Finally, the discriminative ability of the nomogram was evaluated. Results: Four independent factors predicting severe oral mucositis were identified: age, N stage, the cycle of induction chemotherapy, and dose-volumetric parameter V40 (%) of oral cavity. The area under the receiver of operating characteristic curve of the nomogram was 0.759 (95% confidence interval: 0.691–0.827). Conclusions: A predictive nomogram for severe oral mucositis was established and validated in this study. The nomogram provides a reliable and practical model for clinically predicting the probability of severe oral mucositis in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma before intensity-modulated radiation therapy.

Abstract Salmonella is a significant foodborne zoonotic pathogen that endangers both human and animal health. The goal of this research is to gain a preliminary understanding of Salmonella contamination and antimicrobial resistance in the chicken production chain in Hubei Province, China. 1149 animal and environmental samples were collected from chicken farms, slaughterhouses, and retail markets in six cities across Hubei Province in China from 2019 to 2020, yielding Salmonella isolation rates of 4.68% (28/598), 12.21% (47/385), and 9.64% (16/166), respectively. Seventeen distinct serotypes were detected among 53 non-clonal Salmonella strains, of which Meleagridis (26.42%, 14/53) was the dominant serotype. Almost half of the strains (49.06%, 26/53) were multi-drug resistant (MDR). Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) showed that 10 resistance genes (tetA, bla TEM , parC, qnrS1, floR, aac(6′)-Iy, aph(6)-Id, aph(3″)-Ib, aac(6′)-Iaa and sul2) and 7 categories of virulence genes were present in all three links in 22 non-clonal dominant serotype strains. It was shown that Salmonella in the chicken production chain in Hubei Province had a high resistance rate to Tetracycline (TET, 73.58%), Ofloxacin (OFL, 69.81%), Florfenicol (FFC, 60.38%) and Ampicillin (AMP, 39.62%) which was consistent with the widespread use of these drugs in the husbandry industry in China. Salmonella ST types determined by MLST and serotypes determined by WGS had a one-to-one correlation. Minimum spanning tree analysis revealed that there was cross contamination of Salmonella in farms and slaughterhouses, slaughterhouses and markets, animal samples and environmental samples. This work provides useful information for the prevention and control of contamination and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella in the chicken production chain, as well as demonstrating the dependable role of WGS in Salmonella molecular typing.

Coal dust disasters are serious in coal mining. The use of nonionic surfactants can effectively improve the wettability of coal dust and reduce the content of suspended coal dust in the air. For the problem of low wettability of ordinary surfactants, this paper selects silicone surfactants with high surface activity and low surface tension to improve the wetting ability of coal dust. To explore the wettability of nonionic silicone surfactants on coal dust, the effects of six nonionic silicone surfactants on the wettability of coal dust surfaces were studied by experiments. The test objects were four kinds of coal samples with different metamorphic degrees. The surface tension, wetting time, and contact angle experiments were carried out, and the critical micelle concentration and the expansion coefficient of the coal surface were calculated. The wetting time of the compound solution was measured to verify the synergistic effect of the compound solution. The results show that: 6 # has the best wetting effect on coal dust, followed by 4 # and 2 #; The order of surface tension is: 1 #

Abstract China has accumulated multiple practices and experiences in building and enhancing malaria surveillance and response system. As China’s engagement into global health has gathered stronger momentum than ever, China together with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and WHO has organised five sessions of the International Forum on Surveillance-Response System Leading to Tropical Diseases Elimination during 2012–2020, in which malaria elimination has always been one of the hottest topics. In this study, the roles of international network on the surveillance and response system were explored to achieve a global malaria-free goal. China’s approach to malaria elimination has demonstrated significance of global collaboration on taking joint prevention and control, and building a worldwide institutional-based network.

Abstract World Health Organization (WHO) certified China malaria-free on June 30, 2021, which brightens the goal of global malaria elimination efforts. China contributed its unique innovations to the global community: Artemisinin, discovered by Tu Youyou, has saved millions of lives globally; the “1-3-7” norm developed in 2012, has been adapted in the local contexts of countries in the Southeast Asia and Africa. How to the targets of Global Technical Strategy for Malaria (GTS) 2016−2030. By looking into the malaria control phase, towards elimination phase from 1960 to 2011 in sub-Saharan Africa and China, we found that the gap in malaria burden will widen unless the interventions in Africa are enhanced. It is imperative to identify the key China–Africa cooperation areas on malaria control and elimination, so that synergized efforts could be pooled together to help African countries achieve the elimination goal. The practices from China malaria control and elimination efforts could be leveraged to fast-track malaria elimination efforts in Africa, which makes it possible that the China’s journey of malaria elimination extends to Africa. To optimize the extraction technology and study antioxidant activity of polysaccharide from coffee flower (ACP), ultrasonic temperature, ultrasonic time, ratio of fluid-solid, ultrasonic power, sample immersion time and volume percentage of ethanol were investigated by using polysaccharide extraction yield as indicator. Then ultrasonic temperature, ultrasonic time and ultrasonic power were used as mainly influence factors, the extraction technology was optimized by response surface method. Antioxidant activity of ACP was investigated by DPPH· and ABTS+· scavenging effects, and FRAP assays. The results demonstrated that the ultrasonic extraction optimum technological conditions were: Ultrasonic temperature 69.5 ℃, ultrasonic time 93 min, ultrasonic power 175 W, ratio of fluid-solid 10:1 mL/g, sample immersion time 30 min, and volume percentage of ethanol 80%. Under the the yield of polysaccharides was 2.292%. The results indicated that the value of IC50 based on DPPH· scavenging effect of ACP was 3.844 mg·mL−1, the ABTS+· scavenging activity was 0.921 mmol Trolox/g ACP. The FRAP values of ACP by FRAP assay was 0.0565 mmol Fe2+/g ACP, which showed that ACP had weak antioxidant activity. This study would provide a theoretical basis for the comprehensive utilization and development of coffee by-products.

Abstract Aims/Introduction Women with excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) are at a higher risk for complications during pregnancy, such as preeclampsia. However, the association between excessive GWG and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) remains unclear. Materials and Methods We retrospectively reviewed 8,352 women from our obstetric database with singleton pregnancies who gave birth after 28 completed weeks of gestation between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2016, excluding pregnancies complicated by fetal anomalies, fetal death, and overt diabetes. Diagnosis of GDM was based on the criteria recommended by the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups. We used two classification methods to define excessive GWG: a weight gain above the 90th percentile of the population, or exceeding the upper range recommended by the Institute of Medicine, stratified by pre‐pregnancy body mass index. Statistical analysis was performed using multiple logistic regression to determine the association between excessive GWG and the risk of GDM. Results Overall, 1,129 women (13.5%) were diagnosed with GDM. There was no difference in GWG between women with and without GDM in the first trimester and before GDM screening. Women with GDM had significantly less GWG in the second trimester, after GDM screening, and throughout the whole gestation than women without GDM. No correlation was found between excessive GWG in the first and second trimesters, before GDM screening, and the later development of GDM. Conclusions Our results indicate that excessive GWG prior to GDM screening is not associated with an increased risk of GDM.

One Health is an interdisciplinary approach that promotes the resolution of complex health issues through collaboration across multiple disciplines. In addition to accountability, the One Health governance structure fosters shared understanding, trust, and an appreciation for diverse perspectives and requirements. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the current integration of the One Health approach within China's existing health governance framework. It also proposes strategies for further improvement, with emphasis on the level of implementation and contributions to the advancement of One Health governance through an examination of current health policies.

IntroductionThe loss of postharvest storability of pummelo fruit reduces its commodity value for long run. To maintain its storability, the effects of postharvest dipping treatment by salicylic acid (SA) with different concentrations (0, 0.1, 0.2, or 0.3%) were investigated on pummelo fruit (Citrus maxima Merr. cv. Jinshayou) during the room temperature storage at 20 ± 2°C for 90 d.Results and discussionAmong all treatments, pre-storage SA treatment at 0.3% demonstrated the most significant ability to reduce fruit decay incidence, decrease weight loss, delay peel color-turned process, and inhibit the declines in total soluble solids (TSS) as well as titratable acid (TA) content. The increases in electrolyte leakage, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and malondialdehyde (MDA) content of the 0.3% SA-treated pummelo fruit were reduced compared to the control (dipped in distilled water). Pummelo fruit treated with 0.3% SA exhibited the most outstanding ability to excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, as evidenced by promoted the increases in glutathione (GSH), total phenolics and flavonoids contents, delayed the AsA decline, and enhanced the activities of antioxidant enzymes and their encoding genes expression.ConclusionPre-storage treatment dipped with SA, particularly at 0.3%, can be used as a useful and safe preservation method to maintain higher postharvest storability and better overall quality of ‘Jinshayou’ pummelo fruit, and thus delaying postharvest senescence and extend the storage life up to 90 d at room temperature.

Abstract Realizing high average thermoelectric figure of merit (ZTave) and power factor (PFave) has been the utmost task in thermoelectrics. Here the new strategy to independently improve constituent factors in ZT is reported, giving exceptionally high ZTave and PFave in n‐type PbSe. The nonstoichiometric, alloyed composition and resulting defect structures in new Pb1+xSe0.8Te0.2 (x = 0–0.125) system is key to this achievement. First, incorporating excess Pb unusually increases carrier mobility (µH) and concentration (nH) simultaneously in contrast to the general physics rule, thereby raising electrical conductivity (σ). Second, modifying charge scattering mechanism by the authors’ synthesis process boosts a magnitude of Seebeck coefficient (S) above theoretical expectations. Detouring the innate inverse proportionality between nH and µH; and σ and S enables independent control over them and change the typical trend of PF to temperature, giving remarkably high PFave ≈20 µW cm−1 K−2 from 300 to 823 K. The dual incorporation of Te and excess Pb generates unusual antisite Pb at the anionic site and displaced Pb from the ideal position, consequently suppressing lattice thermal conductivity. The best composition exhibits a ZTave of ≈1.2 from 400 to 823 K, one of the highest reported for all n‐type PbQ (Q = chalcogens) materials.

Halosulfuron-methyl (HSM) is a new and highly effective sulfonylurea herbicide widely used in weed control, but its residue in the environment poses a potential risk to soybean. Soybean–rhizobium symbiotic nitrogen fixation is crucial for sustainable agricultural development and ecological environment health. However, the impact of HSM on the symbiosis between soybean and rhizobium is unclear. In this study, the effects of HSM on the soybean–rhizobium symbiotic process and nitrogen fixation were investigated by means of transcriptomic and physiological analyses. Chalcophora japonica chinensis Schaufuss, 1879 (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) is a common pine pest in Chongqing, Fujian, Yunnan, and other in China. The mitochondrial genome of C. japonica is 15,759 bp in size. The genome includes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), and two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs). The overall GC content of the mitogenome is 32.0%. The results showed that C. japonica was most related to Chrysochroa fulgidissima, Trachys variolaris, and Agrilus mali. The full mitochondrial genome of C. japonica is now available, allowing researchers to better understand the species' genetic evolution and regulatory strategies.

Objective: We present a case of choriocarcinoma in a viable pregnancy with the rare presentation of intractable lower back pain. Case report: The patient is a 34-year-old multiparous woman with her second pregnancy, and a history of scoliosis with spinal fixation. Her first pregnancy was uneventful, with a term vaginal delivery. She was hospitalized four times due to intractable back pain from 25 to 31 weeks, and terminated at 31 weeks. The placenta was unremarkable on gross examination. Postpartum, the patient developed obstructive ileus, requiring a rectosigmoid resection. She was diagnosed with metastatic choriocarcinoma to the liver, para-aortic lymph nodes, and mesentery. A week later, she developed micro-thrombosis of all limbs, massive ascites, pleural effusion. Patient refused chemotherapy and died on post-operative Day 15. Conclusion: Presentation of choriocarcinoma in pregnancy varies widely. Clinicians should consider the differential diagnosis of choriocarcinoma when faced with abnormal unexplained symptoms during pregnancy.

The responses of dominant species to plant–soil feedback (PSF) are well established; however, the changes in the PSF of companion species remain unclear. This study aims to assess the direction and intensity of PSF, determine the main factors influencing it, and interpret the ecological significance of PSF in companion species within the context of grassland community succession. Three typical companion species, namely Artemisia sacrorum, Artemisia capillaris, and Artemisia giraldii, were planted in soils at three grassland community succession stages (early, middle, and late) on the Loess Plateau. Our results indicate that during both plant growth periods, the shoot biomass of A. sacrorum, A. capillaris, and A. giraldii in early- and late-stage soils was higher than that in the middle-stage soil, suggesting consistent growth of the three companion species during the two growth periods. However, plant growth simultaneously led to a reduction in soil nutrient content and microbial biomass, resulting in an overall decrease in the biomass of the three species, indicating a negative PSF effect in companion species. In conclusion, the negative PSF observed in all three associated species explains the temporary dominance of companion species during succession. This study enhances our understanding of the mechanisms driving PSF in community succession.

Coffee fermentation is crucial for flavor and aroma, as microorganisms degrade mucilage and produce metabolites. This study aimed to provide a basis for understanding the impact of microorganisms on Coffea arabica from Yunnan, China, during washed processing. The microbial community structure and differentially changed metabolites (DCMs) of C. arabica beans during washed processing were analyzed. The results indicated that the top five predominant microorganisms at the genera level were Achromobacter, Tatumella, Weissella, Streptococcus, and Trichocoleus for bacteria and Cystofilobasidium, Hanseniaspora, Lachancea, Wickerhamomyces, and Aspergillus for fungi. Meanwhile, the relative content of 115 DCMs in 36 h samples decreased significantly, compared to non-fermentation coffee samples (VIP > 1, p < 0.05, FC < 0.65), and the relative content of 28 DCMs increased significantly (VIP > 1, p < 0.05, FC > 1.5). Furthermore, 17 DCMs showed a strong positive correlation with microorganisms, and 5 DCMs had a strong negative correlation (p < 0.05, |r| > 0.6). Therefore, the interaction and metabolic function of microbiota play a key role in the formation of coffee flavor, and these results help in clarifying the fermentation mechanisms of C. arabica and in controlling and improving the quality of coffee flavor.

In this study, atypical choroid plexus papilloma was treated with high-dose rapamycin for 17 days preoperatively in an infant. Rapamycin significantly reduced the blood supply to the tumor while reducing the tumor volume, and most of the tumor was resected successfully. However, the infant developed hyperglycemia related to the rapamycin dose, which was effectively controlled by adjusting the dose and applying insulin.

KDSR (3-ketodihydrosphingosine reductase) is a short-chain dehydrogenase located in the endoplasmic reticulum. Mutations in KDSR cause defects in ceramides, which play a key role in the biological processes of the skin and other tissues. Herein, we report a case of compound heterozygous mutations in KDSR that caused progressive keratodermia and thrombocytopenia in a 2-year-old male patient.

Abstract Aims/Introduction To evaluate the rate of postpartum glycemic screening tests (PGST) in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and to investigate risk factors for abnormal PGST results. Materials and Methods We retrospectively analyzed the obstetric data of 1,648 women with GDM who gave birth after 28 completed weeks of gestation between 1 July 2011 and 31 December 2019 at Taipei Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. GDM was diagnosed by the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria. PGST was carried out at 6–12 weeks postpartum with a 75‐g, 2‐h oral glucose tolerance test, and the results were classified into normal, prediabetes and diabetes mellitus. Multiple logistic regression was used to assess the associations between various risk factors and abnormal PGST results. Results In total, 493 (29.9%) women underwent PGST and 162 (32.9%) had abnormal results, including 135 (27.4%) with prediabetes and 27 (5.5%) with diabetes mellitus. Significant risk factors for postpartum diabetes mellitus included insulin therapy during pregnancy (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 10.79, 95% confidence interval [CI] 4.07–28.58), birthweight >4,000 g (adjusted OR 10.22, 95% CI 1.74–59.89) and preterm birth 24.9 kg/m2 (adjusted OR 1.99, 95% CI 1.24–3.21) was the major risk factor for postpartum prediabetes. Conclusions Less than one‐third of women with GDM underwent PGST, and nearly one‐third of these women had abnormal results. Future efforts should focus on reducing the barriers to PGST in women with GDM.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of transvaginal ultrasound-guided aspiration and ethanol sclerotherapy on anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) in patients with ovarian endometriomas. Setting: Teaching hospital affiliated with Chang Gung University, Taipei. Material and methods: We retrospectively reviewed 124 patients, with ovarian endometriomas who underwent transvaginal aspiration and sclerotherapy of endometrioma(s) at a tertiary medical center, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. Preoperative evaluation included AMH, midcycle serum CA-125 level, and ultrasonography to exclude possibility of malignancies. Patients underwent ultrasonographic guided transvaginal aspiration and sclerotherapy with 95% ethanol irrigation of the cystic cavity. Patients were grouped into group 1, n = 44, retention of ethanol, and group 2, n = 80, no retention. Serum AMH level was checked at 6 months after aspiration. Those who were infertile prior to therapy were followed up for subsequent pregnancies (either by assisted reproductive technologies, or by natural conception). Results: The mean pre-operative AMH levels for the group without retention of ethanol and with ethanol retention were 3.80 and 3.06 respectively (p > 0.05). The change in AMH at 6-month follow up for retained group patients was significantly more than for non-retained group patients, with mean decrease of 0.72 (23.6%) and 0.10 (2.7%) respectively (p

Based on the calculated results of band structures and density of states, Bi doping is used to adjust its carrier concentration in order to obtain n-type PbTe materials with high power factor. Then, coherent nanophase Cu1.75Te is in situ formed in the n-type PbTe matrix, which can simultaneously optimize the thermal and electrical properties. As a result, at a relative lower temperature than other reports, the highest ZT value of 1.4 is obtained at 623 K for the nominal Pb0.995Bi0.005Te+0.86 wt% Cu1.75Te sample. More importantly, the ZT hold a higher value in the broad temperature; especially, ZT value is about 1.2–1.4 in the temperature range of 573–773 K, which is beneficial to the significant average ZT value ZTave ∼ 0.9 in the temperature range of 300–773 K. These results indicate that it is an effective and feasible method to enhance the thermoelectric properties via synergistic modulation of electrical and thermal transport properties by element doping and in situ coherent nanophase.

Abstract Background To evaluate the choroidal changes in Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) secondary glaucoma and non-glaucoma port-wine stain (PWS) patients by enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT). Methods SWS and PWS patients who were over 3 years old and treated or screened at our ophthalmology department were included in the study. Baseline demographics, EDI-OCT and fundus photography data were collected from all patients. Results Overall, 46 non-glaucoma PWS (NGPWS) patients and 35 SWS secondary glaucoma (SG) patients were included, with mean ages of 16.52 ± 13.63 and 13.94 ± 8.27 years, respectively (p > 0.05). Among these patients 2 exhibited bilateral PWS and unilateral glaucoma. Thus, the two eyes of each patient were divided into NGPWS and SG group, respectively. Abstract Background Manganese (Mn) participates in lipid metabolism. However, the associations between Mn exposure and dyslipidaemia is unclear. Methods This was a cross-sectional study. Data were collected from the 2017 the Mn-exposed workers healthy cohort (MEWHC). Finally, 803 occupationally Mn-exposed workers included in the study. The workers were divided into two groups. The grouping of this study was based on Mn-Time Weighted Averages (Mn-TWA). The high-exposure group included participants with Mn-TWA greater than 0.15 mg/m3. The low-exposure group included participants with Mn-TWA less than or equal to 0.15 mg/m3. Mn-TWA levels and dyslipidaemia were assessed. Internet of Things (IoT) devices and services provide convenience but face serious security threats. The network intrusion detection system is vital in ensuring the security of the IoT environment. In the IoT environment, we propose a novel two-stage intrusion detection model that combines machine learning and deep learning to deal with the class imbalance of network traffic data and achieve fine-grained intrusion detection on large-scale flow data. The superiority of the model is verified on the newer and larger CSE-CIC-IDS2018 dataset. In Stage-1, the LightGBM algorithm recognizes normal and abnormal network traffic data and compares six classic machine learning techniques. In Stage-2, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) performs fine-grained attack class detection on the samples predicted to be abnormal in Stage-1. The Stage-2 multiclass classification achieves a detection rate of 99.896%, F1score of 99.862%, and an MCC of 95.922%. The total training time of the two-stage model is 74.876 s. The detection time of a sample is 0.0172 milliseconds. Moreover, we set up an optional Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique based on the imbalance ratio (IR-SMOTE) of the dataset in Stage-2. Experimental results show that, compared with SMOTE technology, the two-stage intrusion detection model can adapt to imbalanced datasets well and reveal higher efficiency and better performance when processing large-scale flow data, outperforming state-of-the-art intrusion detection systems.

Background: Despite reports of the beneficial effects, such as increasing hemoglobin level and iron store in the neonatal period, of delayed cord clamping, or umbilical cord milking after delivery in healthy term-born infants, the duration of delayed clamping or rounds of milking in most previous reports were determined arbitrarily and varied widely across different studies.Methods: We prospectively recruited 80 women with normal singleton pregnancies at 38–40 weeks' gestation. Participants were classified according to the mode of delivery and randomly assigned to either collecting blood from the placenta by umbilical cord drainage (CD) or cord milking (CM), with the placenta left in the uterus. The volume of blood collected, the duration of CD, and the number of rounds of CM were recorded.Results: Collected placental residual blood volume positively correlated with birth weight, placental weight, and length of the cord. When 80% of the total placental residual blood volume collected was set as the threshold, more than 80% of women who delivered vaginally reached this level within 60 s of CD or seven repetitions of CM. This amount of blood could be obtained within 120 s of CD or after seven repetitions of CM in more than 80% of women who underwent cesarean delivery.Conclusion: In most women, regardless of birth weight and placental weight, more than 80% of placental residual blood volume could be collected by CD within 60 s after vaginal delivery, 120 s after cesarean delivery, and seven repetitions of CM in both vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
