Exceptional points (EPs) are critical phase points in non-Hermitian systems, exhibiting fantastic physical phenomena and plenty of applications, such as unidirectional reflectionless and ultrahigh-sensitive detection of perturbations. Here, a non-Hermitian metasurface based on multilayers split-ring resonators (SRRs) is proposed with specific EP effects. By changing the angle of the SRRs and adjusting the geometric parameters of the metasurface, EPs are generated with topologically protected 2π-phase accumulation. A unique EP effect can be achieved in the THz region, and high-performance sensing of environment refractive index can be realized around the EP position. Therefore, this work demonstrates an EP-based sensing enhancement at non-Hermitian systems compared to Hermitian ones and paves the way for the design of high-performance THz sensors based on topological polaritonic effects. Over the past few decades, single-element semiconductors have received a great deal of attention due to their unique light-sensitive and heat-sensitive properties, which are of great application and research significance. As one promising material, selenium, being a typical semiconductor, has attracted significant attention from researchers due to its unique properties including high optical conductivity, anisotropic, thermal conductivity, and so on. To promote the application of selenium nanomaterials in various fields, numerous studies over the past few decades have successfully synthesized selenium nanomaterials in various morphologies using a wide range of physical and chemical methods. In this paper, we review and summarise the different methods of synthesis of various morphologies of selenium nanomaterials and discuss the applications of different nanostructures of selenium nanomaterials in optoelectronic devices, chemical sensors, and biomedical applications. Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) is a severe vascular disease that threatens human life, characterized by focal dilatation of the entire aortic wall, with a diameter 1.5 times larger than normal. PIEZO1, a mechanosensitive cationic channel, monitors mechanical stimulations in the environment, transduces mechanical signals into electrical signals, and converts them into biological signals to activate intracellular signaling pathways. However, the role of PIEZO1 in TAA is still unclear. We analyzed a single-cell database to investigate the expression level of PIEZO1 in TAA. We constructed a conditional knockout mouse model of Piezo1 and used the PIEZO1 agonist Yoda1 to intervene in the TAA model mice established by co-administration of BAPN and ANG-II. Finally, we explored the effect of Yoda1 on TAA in vitro. We observed decreased PIEZO1 expression in TAA at both RNA and protein levels. Single-cell sequencing identified a specific reduction in Piezo1 expression in endothelial cells. Administration of PIEZO1 agonist Yoda1 prevented the formation of TAA. In PIEZO1 endothelial cell conditional knockout mice, Yoda1 inhibited TAA formation by interfering with PIEZO1. In vivo and in vitro experiments demonstrated that the effect of Yoda1 on endothelial cells involved macrophage infiltration, extracellular matrix degradation, and neovascularization. This study highlights the role of PIEZO1 in TAA and its potential as a therapeutic target, providing opportunities for clinical translation. Sophisticated statistical mechanics approaches and human intuition have demonstrated the possibility of self-assembling complex lattices or finite-size constructs. However, attempts so far have mostly only been successful in silico and often fail in experiment because of unpredicted traps associated with kinetic slowing down (gelation, glass transition) and competing ordered structures. Theoretical predictions also face the difficulty of encoding the desired interparticle interaction potential with the experimentally available nano- and micrometer-sized particles. To overcome these issues, we combine SAT assembly (a patchy-particle interaction design algorithm based on constrained optimization) with coarse-grained simulations of DNA nanotechnology to experimentally realize trap-free self-assembly pathways. We use this approach to assemble a pyrochlore three-dimensional lattice, coveted for its promise in the construction of optical metamaterials, and characterize it with small-angle x-ray scattering and scanning electron microscopy visualization. Zinc finger-homeodomain transcription factors (ZF-HDs) are pivotal in regulating plant growth, development, and diverse stress responses. In this study, we found 8 ZF-HD genes in barley genome. Theses eight HvZF-HD genes were located on five chromosomes, and classified into ZHD and MIF subfamily. The collinearity, gene structure, conserved motif, and cis-elements of HvZF-HD genes were also analyzed. Real-time PCR results suggested that the expression of HvZF-HD4, HvZF-HD6, HvZF-HD7 and HvZF-HD8 were up-regulated after hormones (ABA, GA3 and MeJA) or PEG treatments, especially HvZF-HD6 was significantly induced. In the dynamic landscape of cyberspace, organizations face a myriad of coordinated advanced threats that challenge the traditional defense paradigm. Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) plays a crucial role, providing in-depth insights into adversary groups and enhancing the detection and neutralization of complex cyber attacks. However, attributing attacks poses significant challenges due to over-reliance on malware samples or network detection data alone, which falls short of comprehensively profiling attackers. This paper proposes an IPv4-based threat attribution model, IPAttributor, that improves attack characterization by merging a real-world network behavior dataset comprising 39,707 intrusion entries with commercial threat intelligence from three distinct sources, offering a more nuanced context. A total of 30 features were utilized from the enriched dataset for each IP to create a feature matrix to assess the similarities and linkage of associated IPs, and a dynamic weighted threat segmentation algorithm was employed to discern attacker communities. The experiments affirm the efficacy of our method in pinpointing attackers sharing a common origin, achieving the highest accuracy of 88.89%. Our study advances the relatively underexplored line of work of cyber attacker attribution, with a specific interest in IP-based attribution strategies, thereby enhancing the overall understanding of the attacker's group regarding their capabilities and intentions. A facile method which combines the advantages of carbon quantum dots and molecular imprinting technology to design a fluorescence molecular imprinting sensor for the high sensitivity and selective detection of chloramphenicol. The fluorescent molecule imprinted polymers are synthesized by sol-gel polymerization using carbon quantum dots as functional monomers and fluorescent sources, TEOS as crosslinkers, breaking with the traditional understanding of an additional functional monomer. Under optimal experimental, as the concentration of chloramphenicol increases, the fluorescence intensity of the fluorescence molecule imprinting sensor gradually decreases. The concentration of chloramphenicol is linear in the range of 5–100 µg/L and the detection limit is 1 µg/L (N/S = 3). The sensor is able to detect chloramphenicol in milk, enabling the application of real samples. Ultra-low carbon magnesia refractories used in working lining of ladle are crucial components to meet the smelting requirements for producing purity steel. However, the decreased carbon content weakened thermal shock resistance and slag resistance of refractories, resulting in the hampered practical applications. To resolve the mentioned problems, Al–Si alloy powders were introduced into unfired magnesia refractories with glucose and citric acid as binders to form combination of oxides and non-oxides, and performances of refractories were researched systematically in air and carbon-embedded atmospheres according to different service conditions, respectively. The results show that reaction mechanisms in 2 atm led to different effects on microstructure of refractories with added Al–Si alloy powders. The formation of AlN whiskers and plate-shaped MgAl 2 O 4 and Mg 2 SiO 4 with intersecting structure resulted in higher mechanical strength, fracture surface energy and thermal shock resistance of refractories in air atmosphere than that in carbon-embedded atmosphere. The in-situ formed ceramic phases (AlN, MgAl 2 O 4 and Mg 2 SiO 4) in pores led to enhanced slag resistance for refractories. Meanwhile, in carbon-embedded atmosphere, the reduced reactions of Fe 2 O 3 in molten slag increased slag viscosity, presenting higher slag penetration resistance for refractories than that in air atmosphere. Considering the lowered compactness of refractories with excessive alloy powders by large volume expansion from the formation of ceramic phases, refractories with 3 wt% alloy powders showed high mechanical properties, thermal shock resistance and slag resistance. This study provides a reference for the development of ultra-low carbon magnesia refractories used in working lining of ladle, and the research results also indicated that the evaluation of different atmosphere conditions is important for the design of high performance refractories. Sedimentary‐derived (S‐type) granites are an important product of orogenic metamorphism, and a range of subtypes can be recognized by differences in field occurrence, mineralogy and geochemistry. These subtypes can reflect variations of initial protolith composition, partial melting reactions, pressure and temperature of anatexis, or magmatic processes that occur during ascent through the crust (e.g. mineral fractional crystallization or crustal assimilation). Together, these diverse factors complicate geological interpretation of the history of peraluminous felsic melt fractions in orogenic settings. To assess the influence of these factors, we performed integrated field investigation, petrology, geochemistry, geochronology and phase equilibrium modelling on a series of leucosomes within migmatite associated with different S‐type granites within the Khondalite belt, North China craton (NCC), which is an archetypal collisional orogen. Three types of leucosome are recognized in the east Khondalite belt: leucogranitic leucosome, K‐feldspar (Kfs)‐rich granitic leucosome and garnet (Grt)‐rich granitic leucosome. Phase equilibrium modelling of partial melting and fractional crystallization processes indicate that the leucogranitic leucosomes were mostly produced through fluid‐present melting, Kfs‐rich granitic leucosomes are produced through muscovite dehydration melting with 3 vol.% garnet fractional crystallization, and Grt‐rich granitic leucosomes are produced through biotite dehydration melting with 20–40 vol.% K‐feldspar fractional crystallization and up to 20 vol.% peritectic garnet entrainment. Mineral fractional crystallization and peritectic mineral entrainment occur in the source during melting, and play equally important roles in partial melting mechanisms in terms of affecting the geochemical compositions of granitic melts. Thus, we suggest that peraluminous felsic magmas preserved in collisional orogens are dominantly produced by fluid‐absent melting in the middle to deep continental crust, although extraction of low‐volume melt fractions from an anatectic source region at shallower depths during fluid‐present melting can also generate small amounts of S‐type granites that subsequently crystallize at high structural levels in the crust. Tire–road noise deteriorates the sound quality of a vehicle's interior and affects the driving safety and comfort. Obtaining low interior noise is a challenge for passenger car manufacturers. Traditional passive noise control (PNC) is efficient for canceling high frequency noise but not useful for low frequency noise, while active noise control (ANC), according to the residual error signal, can generate an anti-noise signal to reduce the original noise. Most research has focused on improving the control effect for a feedforward ANC system. However, this paper emphasizes a feedback ANC system based on a signal microphone sensor. There are two main contributions in this study to improve automotive cabin sound comfort. One is that the algorithm of the feedback ANC system using a single microphone sensor without a reference noise signal is proposed based on the Filtered-x Least Mean Square method. The other is that the algorithm applies additive random noise online to estimate the secondary path model. A simulation was implemented based on measured real road noise data, and the simulation results indicate that the proposed feedback ANC system with the single microphone sensor can effectively attenuate road noise. Background: The laparoscopically harvested omental flap (LHOF) has been used in partial or total breast reconstruction, but most studies on LHOF were case reports or small case series. However, the clinical feasibility and oncological safety of LHOF in oncoplastic breast surgery remains controversial. This study reported our experience applying LHOF for immediate breast reconstruction. Methods: Between June 2018 and March 2022, 300 patients underwent oncoplastic breast surgery using LHOF at our institution. Their clinicopathological data, complications, cosmetic outcomes, and oncologic outcomes were evaluated. Results: All patients underwent total breast reconstruction using LHOF after nipple-sparing mastectomy. The median operation time was 230 min (ranging from 155 to 375 min). The median operation time for harvesting the omental flap was 55 min (ranging from 40 to 105 min). The success rate of the laparoscopically harvested pedicled omental flap was over 99.0%. Median blood loss was 70 ml, ranging from 40 to 150 ml. The volume of the flap was insufficient in 102 patients (34.0%). The overall complication rate was 12.3%. Subcutaneous fluid in the breast area (7%) was the most common reconstruction-associated complication, but most cases were relieved spontaneously. The incidence rate of omental flap necrosis was 3.3%. LHOF-associated complications occurred in two cases, including one case of incisional hernia and one case of vascular injury. Cosmetic outcomes were satisfactory in 95.1% of patients on a four-point scale by three-panel assessment and 97.2% using the BCCT.core software. Two local and one systemic recurrence were observed during a median follow-up period of 32 months. Conclusions: The LHOF for immediate breast reconstruction is a safe and feasible method that involves minimal donor-site morbidity, satisfactory cosmetic outcomes, and promising oncologic safety. The loss of active materials is one of the main culprits of the battery failures. As a typical example, the presence of inactive lithium, also known as “dead lithium”, contributes to the rapid capacity deterioration and reduces energy output in lithium batteries. This phenomenon has long been recognized as irreversible. In this Minireview, the first of this kind, we aim to summarize the formation of inactive lithium and reassess its impact on battery performance metrics. Additionally, we explore various strategies that have been devised to rejuvenate inactive lithium. This comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in reactivating inactive lithium not only offers insights into restoring capacity and enhancing battery performance metrics but also provides a foundation for future research in reviving other inactive materials found in next‐generation batteries, such as lithium metal batteries, lithium‐sulfur batteries, other alkali metal batteries, and liquid flow batteries. This paper proposes a wide bandpass filter (BPF) with high out‐of‐band suppression and wide stop‐band characteristics. An interdigital coupled line structure loaded by a rectangular resonator ring is employed to generate three transmission poles in the pass‐band and an additional transmission zero (TZ) in the stop‐band, thereby achieving a wider pass‐band while enhancing stop‐band suppression. Compared to traditional coupled‐line structures, the structure mentioned in this paper offers significant advantages in designing filters with wide stop‐bands and high out‐of‐band suppression. Furthermore, open‐circuit T‐stub, and a pair of open‐circuit stub are used to generate multiple parasitic TZs at high frequencies, which is adopted to further expand the stop‐band range. Measurement results shows that the insertion loss of the BPF is of −2.86 dB within the range of 7.05–12.20 GHz. The stop‐band ranges from 13 to 48 GHz with an out‐of‐band suppression of −27 dB, especially when the out‐of‐band suppression is −40 dB, the stop‐band frequency range is 16.40–31.35 GHz. Herein, six types of Al–7Si–xCu–0.35Mg–0.12Ti–0.24Zr–0.05Sr alloys were prepared with different Cu contents (x = 0, 1.8, 2.1, 2.4, 2.7, and 3.0). The effects of Cu addition and spheroidization treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloys were examined. The findings demonstrated that the θ-Al2Cu phase tended to concentrate near the β-Al5FeSi phase. Furthermore, Cu could refine the grain and passivate the eutectic Si. Among the as-cast alloys, the mechanical properties were found to be optimal when the Cu content was 2.7 wt%, with ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS), and elongation (El) values measuring 251.1 MPa, 159.5 MPa, and 5.7%, respectively. Despite the decrease in El, the UTS and YS improved by 23.6% and 23.5%, respectively, compared to the C0 alloy. However, excessive Cu content aggregated and adhered to the massive θ-Al2Cu phases, weakening the mechanical characteristics of the alloy. In addition, the spheroidization treatment caused significant spheroidization in the eutectic Si and promoted a more uniform size distribution. This treatment also facilitated the transition of the solid solution of numerous θ-Al2Cu phase into a matrix, leading to a uniformly dispersed precipitation of Al–Si–Cu and Al–Cu phases. Consequently, the mechanical properties of the alloys were considerably enhanced. When the Cu content was 2.7 wt%, the UTS, YS, and El of the alloy were 301.9 MPa, 174.4 MPa, and 9.1%, respectively, representing increases of 20.2%, 9.3%, and 59.7% compared with those of the as-cast alloy. A weighting method is proposed for the correlation radiation measurement system based on Mills cross array. The Mills cross array achieves high spatial resolution by the product of two orthogonal fan beams. However, the product power pattern of the Mills cross array lacks a square operation, resulting in sidelobe deterioration and the presence of negative sidelobes. Therefore, a window function is necessary to improve beam performance. However, because of the negative sidelobes, the antenna array is sensitive to the weighting function, and common window functions such as Hanning and Hamming are not suitable for achieving optimal antenna performance. A weighting method is proposed to fully utilize the feature that the received energy of positive and negative sidelobes cancel each other out and to reduce the influence of antenna sidelobe errors in radiation measurement. Such a weighting function can be obtained by combining the combined cosine window function with the existing particle swarm optimization (PSO). The optimized window function is evaluated through numerical simulation and compared with the typical window function weighting results. Oxidative stress and inflammation play pivotal roles in the progression of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Fisetin has demonstrated promising pharmacological features; however, its underlying mechanisms in DVT remain elusive. In our study, we investigated the effects and underlying mechanisms of Fisetin on a DVT mouse model. The protective effects of Fisetin on DVT were evaluated by comparing the size of thrombosis and detecting the mRNA expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines. After that, the biological processes were studied via transcriptomics after Fisetin administration. The antioxidant effect was evaluated and explained via NRF2 signaling pathway. Finally, the anti-inflammatory effect was explained according to KEGG analysis and the final mechanism was verified via Western blot. Our results found that the mRNA expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines were inhibited by Fisetin. Moreover, transcriptomic studies suggested that MAPK signaling pathway may be associated with the anti-inflammatory activity of Fisetin. Then, we confirmed that Fisetin administration significantly inhibited the activation of typical pro-inflammatory signaling pathways via Western blot. Finally, the results of Western blot showed that Fisetin significantly activated NRF2 signaling pathway and induced the expression of downstream antioxidant enzymes. Our findings suggested that Fisetin exhibits potential therapeutic effects on DVT through its ability to attenuate inflammation and oxidative stress. Vague spinal anatomical landmarks in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) make intraoperative insertion of pedicle screws difficult under direct vision. Currently, the clinical outcome is significantly improved with robot guidance. This study aims to explore the efficacy of robot-assisted pedicle screw insertion in treating AS combined with spinal fractures. Forty patients (341 screws) who underwent pedicle screw insertion with AS complicated with spinal fractures were included. According to different surgical methods, 16 patients (135 screws) were classified into the robot group and 24 (206 screws) into the free-hand group. Intraoperative blood loss, operative duration, and adverse events were compared between the 2 groups. Gertzbein and Robbins classification was used to classify the accuracy of screw position. Clinical outcomes were evaluated by Visual Analog Scale, Japanese Orthopedic Association, and Oswestry Disability Index. No statistically significant differences between baseline data of the groups. The difference in the blood loss between groups wasn't significant, nor was the operative duration. No severe adverse events related to pedicle screw insertion were reported in either group. Notably, the accuracy of screw insertion was significantly higher in the robot group (129/135) than in the free-hand group (182/206). The lateral perforation prevalence didn't differ among groups. Visual Analog Scale in the third month postoperatively was lower in the robot group than in the free-hand group, with a significant difference. The study demonstrates statistically superior accuracy and surgical outcome of robot-assisted pedicle screw insertion in the treatment of AS complicated with spinal fractures compared with the traditional free-hand operation. Purpose: The cryopreservation process damages oocytes and impairs development potential. As a potent antioxidant, C-phycocyanin (PC) regulates reproductive performance. However, its beneficial effects on vitrified human oocytes remain unknown. Methods: In this study, human GV-stage oocytes obtained from controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) cycles were randomly allocated to three groups: fresh oocyte without freezing (F group), vitrification in medium supplemented with PC (P group), and vitrification in medium without PC as control group (C group). After warming, viable oocytes underwent in vitro maturation. Results: Our results showed that 3 μg/mL PC treatment increased the oocyte maturation rate after cryopreservation. We also found that PC treatment maintains the regular morphological features of oocytes. After PC treatment, confocal fluorescence staining showed a significant increase in the mitochondrial membrane potential of the vitrified oocytes, along with a notable decrease in intracellular reactive oxygen species and the early apoptosis rate. Finally, after in vitro maturation and parthenogenetic activation, vitrified oocytes had a higher potential for cleavage and blastocyst formation after PC treatment. Conclusion: Our results suggest that PC improves the developmental potential of cryopreserved human GV-stage oocytes by attenuating oxidative stress and early apoptosis and increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential. Bating animal hides with trypsin is an essential step for making leathers. But the mechanism why the calcium in the hide influences the bating performance remains unclear. Here, the enzyme activity of trypsin was determined using N-alpha-benzoyl-L-arginine ethyl ester, bovine albumin (BSA) and collagen fibres as substrates in the presence and absence of calcium salts. The interactions of calcium with trypsin, BSA and collagen were analysed by fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular docking. Data reveal that calcium which binds to BSA and collagen improves the structural stability and enzyme resistance of hide proteins. As a result, a high calcium content of delimed hide is useful to obtain an intact surface of bated hide. However, a low calcium content of hide for pickling is necessary for producing leathers with high physical properties and uniform colour. According to these results, a novel bating system involving deliming, bating and redeliming operations was developed. This system provides a high calcium content of hide for bating and a low calcium content of hide for subsequent pickling and tanning, which effectively reduces the risk of hide damage and improves the physical properties and colour uniformity of leather. Optical vortex array (OVA) containing multiple optical vortices is an optimal candidate for applications of optical communications, complex manipulation of multi-particle systems, and mass-synchronous fabrication. However, the existing OVAs have not been constructed to respond to the application requirements, particularly for micro-/nanomaterial fabrication where the boundary, size, and stability need to be carefully considered. To address this issue, we propose a Gibbs–Wulff OVA (GWOVA) by analogizing the Gibbs–Wulff theorem in solid-state physics. Herein, the Gibbs–Wulff theorem is first generalized to OVA's generation as the condition to confine its growth boundary. The GWOVA, which possesses versatile structures and arrangement modes (simple- and close-packed modes), is successfully generated and grown. It exhibits high stability and perfect symmetry during growth and rotation, which satisfies the symmetric group of D2s. Achieving strong solid‐state photoluminescence and fast charge transport simultaneously for organic molecules is of significant importance but challenging because of the trade‐off between these properties. Herein, two tailored blue luminescent molecules constructed with ring‐fused carbonyl‐containing electron acceptors and spiro‐acridine electron donors are developed. Owing to ordered long‐range molecular alignment with proper interaction energies, their neat films exhibit ultrafast bipolar charge transport and strong delayed fluorescence with high quantum yields and short lifetimes. In doped organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs), both molecules display eminent electroluminescence performances with excellent external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of 40.6%. They also exhibit brilliant blue lights with record‐beating EQEs of 30.2% in non‐doped thin‐layer OLEDs, and more importantly, high‐performance simplified non‐doped thick‐layer OLEDs are achieved, rendering lowered driving voltages, and the best EQEs of 23.0% with tiny efficiency roll‐offs. In addition, using them as sensitizers, remarkable EQEs of 40.1% and 23.2% with ultrasmall efficiency roll‐offs are realized in blue hyperfluorescence thin‐layer and thick‐layer OLEDs, respectively. In particular, different MAX precursors and synthetic routes will lead to MXenes with different structural and electrochemical properties, which actually gives MXenes unlimited scope for development. In this feature article, we systematically present the recent advances in the methods and synthetic routes of MXenes, together with their impact on the properties of MXenes and also the advantages and disadvantages. Subsequently, the sodium storage mechanisms of MXenes are summarized, as well as the recent research progress and strategies to improve the sodium storage performance. Ni-based wrought superalloys are a type of superalloy produced through casting-forging processes, and usually their high-temperature performance is strongly influenced by microstructure and deformation mechanism. The typical microstructure of Ni-based wrought superalloys after heat treatments comprises equiaxed grains, numerous annealed twins, carbides within the grain interior and/or at grain boundaries, and spherical γ′ precipitates (typically comprises around 20% of their volume). The common deformation mechanisms in Ni-based wrought superalloys mainly include anti-phase boundary formed by paired dislocations shearing γ′ phase, stacking fault formed by single dislocation shearing γ′ phase, dislocation bypassing γ′ phase (precipitation-strengthened) and dislocation entanglement, dislocation networks (solid solution strengthened). In this paper, the microstructure and deformation mechanism of tensile and creep in Ni-based wrought superalloys for Advanced ultra-supercritical (A-USC) power plants are reviewed, for the two prominent areas of current research, Ni–Fe-based wrought superalloys exhibit superior processability and cost-effectiveness compared to Ni–Co-based wrought superalloys, thereby offering a more advantageous solution. Chryseobacterium arthrosphaerae strain FS91703 was isolated from Rana nigromaculata in our previous study. To investigate the genomic characteristics, pathogenicity-related genes, antimicrobial resistance, and phylogenetic relationship of this strain, PacBio RS II and Illumina HiSeq 2000 platforms were used for the whole genome sequencing. The genome size of strain FS91703 was 5,435,691 bp and GC content was 37.78%. A total of 4,951 coding genes were predicted; 99 potential virulence factors homologs were identified. Analysis of antibiotic resistance genes revealed that strain FS91703 harbored 10 antibiotic resistance genes in 6 categories and 2 multidrug-resistant efflux pump genes, including adeG and farA. Strain FS91703 was sensitive to β-lactam combination drugs, cephem, monobactam and carbapenems, intermediately resistant to phenicol, and resistant to penicillin, aminoglycosides, tetracycline, fluoroquinolones, and folate pathway inhibitors. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain FS91703 and C. arthrosphaerae CC-VM-7T were on the same branch of the phylogenetic tree based on 16 S rRNA; the ANI value between them was 96.99%; and the DDH values were 80.2, 72.2 and 81.6% by three default calculation formulae. These results suggested that strain FS91703 was a species of C. arthrosphaerae. Pan-genome analysis showed FS91703 had 566 unique genes compared with 13 other C. arthrosphaerae strains, and had a distant phylogenetic relationship with the other C. arthrosphaerae strains of the same branch in phylogenetic tree based on orthologous genes. The results of this study suggest that strain FS91703 is a multidrug-resistant and highly virulent bacterium, that differs from other C. arthrosphaerae strains at the genomic level. The knowledge about the genomic characteristics and antimicrobial resistance of strain FS91703 provides valuable insights into this rare species, as well as guidance for the treatment of the disease caused by FS91703 in Rana nigromaculata. Liver cancer, a chronic non-communicable disease, represents a serious public health problem. Long-term trends in the burden of liver cancer disease are heterogeneous across regions. Incidence and mortality of liver cancer, based on the Global Burden of Disease, were collected from the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Age–period–cohort model was utilized to reveal the secular trends and estimate the age, period and cohort effects on primary liver cancer due to specific etiologies. Both the age-standardized incidence and mortality rate of liver cancer in Hubei province were on the rise, although there were discrepancies between gender groups. From age–period–cohort analysis, both incidence and mortality of liver cancer due to Hepatitis B virus were the highest in all age groups. The incidence of all liver cancer groups increased with time period in males, while this upward trend was observed in females only in liver cancer due to alcohol use group. Cohort effects indicated the disease burden of liver cancer decreased with birth cohorts. Local drifts showed that the incidence of liver cancer due to specific etiologies was increasing in the age group of males between 40 and 75 years old. The impact of an aging population will continue in Hubei Province. the disease burden of liver cancer will continue to increase, and personalized prevention policies must be adopted to address these changes. BACKGROUND: During an outbreak such as COVID-19, hospital staff needs to be in close contact with all types of patients visiting the hospital and the risk of cross-infection is extremely high. Payment and medication pickup is a mandatory part of a patient's hospital visit, with direct contact between healthcare workers and patients, and long waiting times in the hospital area, which can easily lead to the spread of disease infection. OBJECTIVE: This paper designed the prototype of a contactless smart medicine cabinet based on RFID technology and optimized the patient consultation and medication pickup process to address these problems. METHODS: We conducted a 50-day field observation of patients for consultation and medication pickup at the First Hospital in H city, Jiangsu Province, China, and randomly timed 1600 sets of data from Surgery (ophthalmology) and Internal patients, then we designed the prototype of a contactless smart medicine cabinet based on RFID technology, optimized the patient consultation and medication pickup process, comparing the traditional and intelligent models using AnyLogic. RESULTS: The results show that this contactless medicine cabinet was able to reduce the time taken by patients in consultation and medicine pickup by 18.74 minutes, increasing the overall efficiency of the consultation by 32.20%. The simulation revealed that this contactless intelligent medication pickup model was able to reduce the time taken by patients in consultation and medicine pickup, increasing the overall efficiency of the consultation, effectively reducing the frequency of contact between healthcare workers and patients, and reducing the risk of disease infection. CONCLUSION: The proposed technical model provides a new idea to solve the problems of long queues, low efficiency and high risk of infection for patients to consult and get medicine during epidemics. To explore the impact of well spacing on the in situ high-temperature air injection for three-dimensional shale oil recovery, this study constructed six different well-spacing physical models of shale oil for investigation. By comparing factors such as temperature distribution, cumulative oil production volume, heating rate factor, and specific energy consumption per unit volume of shale oil among the six different well-spacing models, the influence of well spacing on the in situ high-temperature air injection for three-dimensional shale oil recovery was analyzed. The results showed that all six shale oil models exhibited a ripple pattern, advancing along the fractured fissures from the heating well to the production well. Model I, Model II, Model III, Model IV, Model V, and Model VI completed the full decomposition of the shale region at 2610, 1530, 1800, 3510, 4050, and 6660 days, respectively. The heating rate factor reached its peak at 1800, 900, 1440, 2340, 3240, and 3960 days. Model III had the lowest specific energy consumption per unit volume of shale oil, which was 905.41 kW/m3. Objective: Cable‐dragged reduction and cantilever beam internal fixation can provide promising results in the treatment of atlantoaxial dislocation or instability. However, bilateral atlantoaxial joints bone autografting has not been conducted in this technique. We aim to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of bilateral atlantoaxial joints bone autografting in posterior cable‐dragged reduction and cantilever‐beam internal fixation. Methods: In this retrospective study, we included 14 patients with a minimum 24‐month follow‐up from December 2019 to September 2020. The granular bone harvested from the iliac crest was packed into the bilateral atlantoaxial joints of 14 patients in posterior cable‐dragged reduction and cantilever‐beam internal fixation. X‐ray imaging and cervical computed tomography (CT) were performed during follow‐up. The time required for bone fusion was recorded. The clinical outcomes were evaluated using the JOA scores, NDI, and VAS scores. Mann–Whitney U test, the chi‐squared test, or the Fisher exact test were used to compare the two groups regarding patient characteristics, clinical outcomes, bone fusion rates, and cervical sagittal alignment. Results: The operations were successfully performed in all patients without any intraoperative complications. The mean operation time was (169.64 ± 20.91) minutes, and the intraoperative blood loss was (130.71 ± 33.62) mL. All patients received satisfactory reductions and firm bony fusion at the final follow‐up. The fusion rates were 64.29% in the atlantoaxial joints and 21.43% in post bone graft area at 3 months postoperatively, and a significant difference was observed (p = 0.022). Besides, the cervical sagittal alignment in all patients was well maintained in the last follow‐up compared to preoperatively. Importantly, a complete bony fusion in the atlantoaxial joints was observed in all patients. Moreover, the JOA, NDI, and VAS scores had improved significantly at the last follow‐up. Conclusion: Bone autografting of the bilateral atlantoaxial joints is a safe and effective technique to increase bone fusion rates, shorten bone fusion time, and reduce complication rates when the cable‐dragged reduction and cantilever beam internal fixation approach is used. Objective: Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a common orthopedic disease with a high disability rate. The clinical effect of BuShenHuoXue decoction (BSHX) for ONFH is satisfactory. We aimed to elucidate the potential angiogenic mechanisms of BSHX in a rat femoral osteonecrosis model and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Methods: With in vivo experiments, we established the steroid‐induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH) model using Sprague–Dawley (SD) rats (8‐week‐old). The rats were randomly divided into five group of 12 rats each and given the corresponding interventions: control, model (gavaged with 0.9% saline), BSHX low‐, medium‐ and high‐dose groups (0.132 3, 0.264 6, and 0.529 2 g/mL BSHX solution by gavage). After 12 weeks, haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining was preformed to evaluate rat osteonecrosis. the expression of angiogenic factors (CD31, VEGFA, KDR, VWF) in rat femoral head was detected by immunohistochemistry, qPCR and western blotting. In cell experiment, BMSCs were isolated and cultured in the femoral bone marrow cavity of 4‐week‐old SD rats. BMSCs were randomly divided into eight groups and intervened with different doses of BSHX‐containing serum and glucocorticoids: control group (CG); BSHX low‐, medium‐, and high‐dose groups (CG + 0.661 5, 1.323, and 2.646 g/kg BSHX gavage rat serum); dexamethasone (Dex) group; and Dex + BSHX low‐, medium‐, and high‐dose groups (Dex + 0.661 5, 1.323, and 2.646 g/kg BSHX gavaged rat serum), the effects of BSHX‐containing serum on the angiogenic capacity of BMSCs were examined by qPCR and Western blotting. A co‐culture system of rat aortic endothelial cells (RAOECs) and BMSCs was then established. Migration and angiogenesis of RAOECs were observed using angiogenesis and transwell assay. Identification of potential targets of BSHX against ONFH was obtained using network pharmacology. Results: BSHX upregulated the expression of CD31, VEGFA, KDR, and VWF in rat femoral head samples and BMSCs (p < 0.05, vs. control group or model group). Different concentrations of BSHX‐containing serum significantly ameliorated the inhibition of CD31, VEGFA, KDR and VWF expression by high concentrations of Dex. BSHX‐containing serum‐induced BMSCs promoted the migration and angiogenesis of RAOECs, reversed to some extent the adverse effect of Dex on microangiogenesis in RAOECs, and increased the number of microangiogenic vessels. Furthermore, we identified VEGFA, COL1A1, COL3A1, and SPP1 as important targets of BSHX against ONFH. Conclusion: BSHX upregulated the expression of angiogenic factors in the femoral head tissue of ONFH model rats and promoted the angiogenic capacity of rat RAOECs and BMSCs. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is widely used to determine the composition of elements and oxygen‐containing functional groups. Accurate determination of core‐electron binding energies (CEBEs) is essential for identifying the types and contents of oxygen‐functional groups present on the surface of coal. The △SCF method has been carried out on CEBEs for an extensive series of oxygen‐containing organic systems encompassing the most common functionalities. The polymers for which experimental values are available for comparison demonstrate the adequacy of the treatment for describing CEBEs for the O1s core level. Therefore, a sound basis is provided for the discussion of CEBEs (O1s) for functionalities for which experimental values are not accurate or available, such as carbonyl, carboxyl, and peroxide. The results are applied to the XPS study of oxidized coal. The change law of peroxide and oxygen‐containing functional groups was discussed. The corrosion resistance and mechanical properties directly affects the operation and service life of Al2O3‐Cr2O3 refractories used in waste incinerators. In this study, ZrO2 particles were introduced via vacuum impregnation to adjust microstructure and properties of Al2O3‐Cr2O3 refractories. The results showed that the impregnated ZrO2 particles and increasing impregnation times resulted in the decreased median pore size and increased compactness, and mechanical strengths of refractories were elevated from the inhibited cracks propagation by ZrO2 particles. The decreased amounts of large pores and increased amounts of small pores from the filled ZrO2 particles inhibited penetration of low melting point phases, and the formed CaZrO3 phase from the reactions between corrosion reagent and ZrO2 particles increased the viscosity of penetrated corrosion reagent, resulting in the decreased penetration index from 8.57% to 2.58%. Meanwhile, the filled ZrO2 particles around alumina particles prevented reactions between molten corrosion reagent and alumina, leading to the decreased corrosion index from 3.78% to.74%. The decreased pore size and formation of CaZrO3 phase were primary factors that enhanced the penetration resistance. And formation of wrapped layers from ZrO2 particles around alumina particles presented prominent effects on the strengthened corrosion resistance of Al2O3‐Cr2O3 refractories. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Er3+ doped high density germanate glasses with compositions of 50GeO 2 -10BaO–10Al 2 O 3 -15Lu 2 O 3 -(15-x) La 2 O 3 -xEr 2 O 3 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0, in mol%) have been prepared by the melt-quenching method. The optical and physical properties of the samples were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), density, transmittance spectra, photoluminescence (PL) spectra, and X-ray excited luminescence (XEL) spectra. The densities were in the range from 5.90 to 6.07 g/cm3. The strong green emissions around 552 nm of Er3+ were observed upon the excitations of 378 nm light and the X-ray, and the lifetimes of 552 nm emission were in the range of 20.88–96.47 μs. We developed a quantitative single-virus tracking approach for spatiotemporal quantification of fusion events based on highly efficient dual-color labeled viruses and bulk trajectory analysis. This approach allows us to comprehensively probe viral fusion mechanisms at single-virus level and to precisely elucidate how associated biomolecules synergistically regulate the fusion process. This study investigated the effects of varying doses of dietary aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) on the growth, intestinal health, and muscle quality of hybrid grouper. Four diets with varying AFB1 concentrations (0, 30, 445, and 2,230 μg kg−1) were used. Elevating AFB1 concentrations led to a decline in growth indexes, specifically the weight gain rate and the specific growth rate, although the survival rate remained unchanged. Morphological indicators showed a dose-dependent decline with AFB1 exposure. Intestinal MDA content and hindgut reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels increased, while antioxidant indexes and digestive enzymes decreased with higher AFB1 levels. AFB1 negatively influenced hindgut tight junction protein and antioxidant-related gene expression while promoting inflammation-related gene expression. The presence of AFB1 in the experiment led to a decrease in beneficial intestinal bacteria, such as Prevotella, and an increase in harmful intestinal bacteria, such as Prevotellaceae_NK3B31_group. Muscle lipid and unsaturated fatty acid content significantly decreased, while muscle protein and liver AFB1 content increased dramatically with higher AFB1 concentrations. AFB1 caused myofibrillar cleavage and myofilament damage, leading to increased spaces between muscle fibers. In conclusion, diets with AFB1 levels exceeding 30 μg kg−1 inhibited hybrid grouper growth, while levels surpassing 445 μg kg−1 resulted in hindgut ROS accumulation, inflammation, elevated intestinal permeability, reduced digestive enzyme activity, and compromised muscle quality. In the process of shipping hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, due to the special characteristics of the design and construction of the pure car truck carrier (PCTC) and its working environment, once hydrogen leakage occurs, it is easy to cause safety accidents, resulting in economic losses and human casualties. The current ventilation regulations are only for the shipping of vehicles with internal combustion engines and there are no clear regulations on the ventilation requirements for PCTCs during the shipping of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. First, a PCTC and a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle were selected for the study and the corresponding geometries were modeled. For the scenario of hydrogen leakage in the cabin of the ship, the amount of hydrogen leakage is calculated according to the leakage model. Then, using Fluent software, the diffusion process of hydrogen between the two vehicles is simulated and the variation pattern of hydrogen concentration is concluded. Finally, simulations are carried out under different leakage locations and ventilation conditions to analyze the influencing factors of hydrogen diffusion distribution in the cabin of the ship. Human activity recognition (HAR) plays a crucial role in remotely monitoring the health of the elderly. Human annotation is time-consuming and expensive, especially for abstract sensor data. Contrastive learning can extract robust features from weakly annotated data to promote the development of sensor-based HAR. However, current research mainly focuses on the exploration of data augmentation methods and pre-trained models, disregarding the impact of data quality on label effort for fine-tuning. This paper proposes a novel active contrastive coding model that focuses on using an active query strategy to evenly select small, high-quality samples in downstream tasks to complete the update of the pre-trained model. The proposed uncertainty-based balanced query strategy mines the most indistinguishable hard samples according to the data posterior probability in the unlabeled sample pool, and imposes class balance constraints to ensure equilibrium in the labeled sample pool. Extensive experiments have shown that the proposed method consistently outperforms several state-of-the-art baselines on four mainstream HAR benchmark datasets (UCI, WISDM, MotionSense, and USCHAD). In situ shale oil extraction is an efficient and environmentally friendly development method. This article employs in situ extraction technology to heat shale oil, optimizing its high-temperature gas parameters based on indicators such as cumulative oil production rate and cumulative power consumption in the shale oil region. Using the optimized high-temperature gas parameters, an exploration of shale oil with different thicknesses was conducted. The results indicate that out of nine different high-temperature gas parameters, five cannot induce complete fracturing in the shale oil region. Models II, III, I, and IV each reach the onset of shale oil fracturing in the entire region after 870, 900, 1020, and 1080 days, respectively. The heating rate factor peaks at 1620, 1620, 1800, and 1980 days, with values of 0.277, 0.305, 0.317, and 0.32, respectively. Compared to Model II, the peak of the heating rate factor in Model I is the highest, showing an increase of 15.52%. Among these models, Model I has the lowest unit volume power consumption at 1063.41 kW/m3. The unit volume power consumption in Model I exhibits the most significant reduction, with a maximum decrease of 16.45% compared to the other three shale oil models of different thicknesses. This study aimed to assess the utility of a combined assessment using the Osteoporosis Self-Assessment Tool for Asians (OSTA), Hounsfield unit (HU) value, and vertebral bone quality (VBQ) score for preoperative osteoporosis (OP) screening in patients scheduled for spinal surgery. This study encompassed 288 participants, including 128 males and 160 females. Patients were stratified into 2 groups: the OP group (T-score ≤ −2.5) and the non-OP group (T-score > −2.5), determined by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Binary logistic regression was used to construct a combined diagnostic model, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve evaluated the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of these metrics individually or in combination to screen for OP. Osteoporosis patients exhibited significantly lower OSTA and HU values in comparison to non-OP patients, while their VBQ scores were significantly higher (P < 0.001). The ROC curve analysis results indicated that within the male group, the combined diagnosis had a sensitivity of 93.8%, specificity of 82.3%, accuracy of 85.2%, PPV of 63.8%, and NPV of 97.5%. In the female group, the combined diagnosis had a sensitivity of 93.9%, specificity of 87.4%, accuracy of 90.0%, PPV of 83.6%, and NPV of 95.4%. The combined use of OSTA, HU values, and VBQ scores in preoperative OP screening for spinal surgery demonstrates significantly higher accuracy and superior screening value compared to individual assessments. Seizures are one of the complications that can occur after cranioplasty (CP). In some regions, titanium mesh remains the material of choice for CP. However, risk factors for seizures after titanium CP have been less studied. The purpose of this study was to identify potential risk factors for early seizures (≤7 days) and late seizures (>8 days) after titanium CP in a single institution. A retrospective review was conducted of 241 consecutive patients who received titanium CP at the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University from January 2016 to December 2020. Univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to determine the independent risk factors for new-onset seizures after titanium CP. Fifteen patients (6.22%) experienced early post-CP seizures, and late post-CP seizures were observed in 81 patients (33.61%). A flaccid concave cranial defect (P = 0.042) was associated with early post-CP seizures, whereas hypertension (P < 0.001) was the only significant predictor for late seizures after titanium CP. Seizure is a common complication after titanium CP, especially in patients who do not receive prophylactic antiepileptic drugs before the procedure. Risk factors for new-onset seizures at different periods after titanium CP were found to be different. The heavy military attack and colonial domination during the successive Japanese invasion wars hit the Chinese traditional culture and people the hardest and wreaked havoc on cultural relics, causing a catastrophic and irremediable loss to society. The topic of restitution of looted Chinese cultural relics during these wars arose owing to the long-pending historical issues between China and Japan. However, this issue has never attracted significant attention from the international community. Applying empirical analysis and drawing on the case study, this paper primarily focuses on two typical representative cases of the recovery of looted Chinese cultural relics from Japan, which triggered three significant issues to be addressed: the legal analysis of two recovery cases through litigation and non-litigation relief; proving the legality concerning different ownership rights of the Chinese government and individuals seeking to recover state-owned and privately-owned cultural relics; exploring the legal grounds for recovering state-owned and privately-owned cultural relics. Double perovskites such as Sr2CrReO6 attract great scientific attention owing to their high Curie temperatures (TC ≥ 550 K) as well as large magnetoresistances. However, both the specific physical mechanism of high TC and magnetic ground state in Sr2CrReO6 remain ill‐defined. In order to clarify and understand these issues, we studied its critical phase transition characteristics using critical behavior analysis. We found that the obtained critical exponents (β = 1.115 and γ = 2.224) are quite different from any traditional universality class. The abnormal critical behavior implies that at the quantum critical point, Sr2CrReO6 exists a strong competition among several magnetic interactions. By analyzing their effective critical exponents, we show that the double perovskite Sr2CrReO6 is really an ordered and homogeneous ferromagnet. With the help of Takahashi's theory, the nature of ferromagnetism in Sr2CrReO6 is confirmed to be localized instead of itinerant. An empirical model was developed to predict organic solvophobic effects using N‐phenylimide molecular balances functionalized with non‐polar alkyl groups. Solution studies and X‐ray crystallography confirmed intramolecular alkyl‐alkyl interactions in their folded conformers. The structural modularity of the balances allowed systematic variation of alkyl group lengths. Control balances were instrumental in isolating weak organic solvophobic effects by eliminating framework solvent‐solute effects. A 19F NMR label enabled analysis across 46 deuterated and non‐deuterated solvent systems. Linear correlations were observed between organic solvophobic effects and solvent cohesive energy density (ced) as well as changes in solvent‐accessible surface areas (SASA). Using these empirical relationships, a model was constructed to predict organic solvophobic interaction energy per unit area for any organic solvent with known ced values. The predicted interaction energies aligned with recent organic solvophobic measurements and literature values for the hydrophobic effect on non‐polar surfaces confirmed the model's accuracy and utility. The Nansha Block (NB) is one of the blocks separated from the southern margin of the South China Craton (SCC) by the western Pacific subduction, which contains rich information of geodynamic and tectonic transformation. To reveal the essence of western Paleo-Pacific subduction during the Triassic period, Well NK-1 in this block was selected for petrographic study, and published research data from other cooperative teams were compared. A double-cycle pattern of basic to neutral magmatic volcanism was established, and 36 lithological rhythmic layers and representative cryptoexplosive breccia facies and welded tuff bands were identified. Combined with a reanalysis of published geochronological data, geochemical elements, and isotope geochemistry, we found that the rock assemblages could be divided into an intermediate-acid dacite (DA) series (SiO2>65%) and basaltic (BA) series (Co<40 µg/g), which was formed during the early Late Triassic ((218.6±3.2)−(217.9±3.5) Ma). BA exhibits obvious calc-alkaline island-arc magmatic properties: (87Sr/86Sr)i ratio ranging 0.703 77–0.711 18 (average: 0.706 45), 147Sm/144Nd ratio ranging 0.119–0.193 (average: 0.168), and chondrite-normalized rare earth element (REE) curves being flat, while DA exhibits remarkable characteristics of subducted island-arc andesitic magma: (87Sr/86Sr)i ratio (0.709 39–0.711 29; average: 0.710 35), eNd(t) value (−6.2−−4.8; average: −5.6) and εHf(t) value (−2.9−−1.7, average: −2.2) show obvious crust-mantle mixing characteristics. BA and DA reveal typical characteristics of island-arc magma systems and type II enriched mantle (EM-II) magma. BA magma was likely resulted from the process whereby the continental crust frontal accretionary wedge was driven by the Paleo-Pacific slab subduction into the deep and began to melt, resulting in that a large amount of melt (fluid) joined the asthenosphere on the side of the continental margin. In contrast, DA magma was likely resulted from the process whereby the plate front was forced to bend with increasing subduction distance, which triggered the upwelling of the asthenosphere near the continent and subsequently led to the partial melting of the lithospheric mantle and lower crust due to continuous underplating. The lithospheric thinning environment in the study area at the end of Triassic created suitable conditions for the separation between the NB and SCC, which provided an opportunity for the formation of the early intracontinental rift during the later expansion of the South China Sea (SCS). A single‐feed wideband circularly polarized (CP) substrate‐integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity‐backed antenna and its phased array are presented in this paper. The proposed element consists of SIW cavity, stacked patches, and a 50‐Ω coaxial probe. The coaxial pin is directly connected to the two patch radiators. By chamfering on each rectangular patch, the proposed SIW cavity‐backed patch antenna realizes wideband circular polarization characteristic. The proposed element exhibits a simulated impedance bandwidth of 22.5% (14–17.6 GHz) for |S11| < −10 dB, an axial‐ratio (AR) bandwidth of 12.9% (14.5–16.5 GHz) for AR ≤ 3 dB. Simulation results illustrate that the infinite array can scanning up to ±60° in all planes over the operating frequency, under the criterion of active VSWR ≤ 3 and AR ≤ 3 dB. For verification purpose, an 8 × 8 array prototype was manufactured and measured. To achieve better CP characteristics, the sequential rotation technique is applied to the full array configuration. Insects, birds, and bats that power and control flight by flapping their wings perform excellent flight stability and maneuverability by rapidly and continuously varying their wing motions. This article provides an overview of the state of the art of vortex-dominated, unsteady flapping aerodynamics from the viewpoint of diversity and uniformity associated with dominant vortices, particularly of the relevant physical aspects of the flight of insects and vertebrates in the low- and intermediate-Reynolds-number (Re) regime of 100 to 106. After briefly describing wing morphology and kinematics, we discuss the main vortices generated by flapping wings and the aerodynamic forces associated with these structures, focusing on leading-edge vortices (LEVs), wake vortices, and vortices generated by wing motions over a broad Re range. The LEVs are intensified by dynamic wing morphing in bird and bat flight, producing a significantly elevated vortex lift. The complex wake vortices are the footprints of lift generation; thus, the time-averaged vortex lift can be estimated from wake velocity data. Computational fluid dynamics modeling, quasi-steady models, and vortex lift models are useful tools to elucidate the intrinsic relationships between the lift and the dominant vortices in the near- and far-fields in flapping flight.
