Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a genetic disorder affecting the metabolism of lipoprotein, characterized by elevated levels of plasma concentrations of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLC). The most common FH cause is mutations within the gene that encodes for the LDL receptor (LDLR) protein. Two induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines were generated from patients with FH, each carrying a single heterozygous mutation in the LDLR gene, one is a missense mutation, c.631C > T, and the other is a splice-site mutation, c.313 + 1G > A. Both iPSC lines exhibited strong expression of pluripotency markers, demonstrated the ability to differentiate into derivatives of the three germ layers, and maintained normal karyotypes. These derived iPSC lines represent powerful tools for in vitro modeling FH and offer a promising platform for therapeutic development.

Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is a rare autosomal dominant inherited genetic disorder that greatly increases the risk of developing several types of cancer, including young children and young adults. LFS is primarily caused by specific mutations in the tumor suppressor gene TP53. In this study, we successfully generated two human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines derived from patients diagnosed with LFS, each carrying a distinct heterozygous mutation in the TP53 gene. These LFS patient-derived iPSC lines exhibited robust expression of key pluripotency markers, demonstrated the capacity to differentiate into all three germ layers (endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm), and maintained a normal karyotype. The establishment of these iPSC lines provides a valuable tool for modeling LFS in vitro, enabling researchers to investigate the underlying pathological mechanisms associated with the disease across various cell types and tissues.

We previously demonstrated that baicalin had efficacy against gouty arthritis (GA) by oral administration. In this paper, a novel baicalin-loaded microemulsion-based gel (B-MEG) was prepared and assessed for the transdermal delivery of baicalin against GA. The preparation method and transdermal capability of B-MEG was screened and optimized using the central composite design, Franz diffusion cell experiments, and the split-split plot design. Skin irritation tests were performed in guinea pigs. The anti-gout effects were evaluated using mice. The optimized B-MEG comprised of 50 % pH 7.4 phosphate buffered saline, 4.48 % ethyl oleate, 31.64 % tween 80, 13.88 % glycerin, 2 % borneol, 0.5 % clove oil and 0.5 % xanthan gum, with a baicalin content of (10.42 ± 0.08) mg/g and particle size of (15.71 ± 0.41) nm. After 12 h, the cumulative amount of baicalin permeated from B-MEG was (672.14 ± 44.11) μg·cm−2. No significant skin irritation was observed following B-MEG application. Abstract The anomalous Hall effect (AHE) that associated with the Berry curvature of occupied electronic states in momentum‐space is one of the intriguing aspects in condensed matter physics, and provides an alternative for potential applications in topological electronics. Previous experiments reported the tunable Berry curvature and the resulting magnetization switching process in the AHE based on strain engineering or chemical doping. However, the AHE modulation by these strategies are usually irreversible, making it difficult to realize switchable control of the AHE and the resultant spintronic applications. Here, we demonstrated the switchable control of the Berry‐curvature‐related AHE by electrical gating in itinerant ferromagnetic Cr7Te8 with excellent ambient stability. The gate‐tunable sign reversal of the AHE can be attributed to the redistribution of the Berry curvature in the band structure of Cr7Te8 due to the intercalation‐induced change in the Fermi level. Our work facilitates the applications of magnetic switchable devices based on gate‐tunable Berry curvature.

Abstract Background This study aimed to develop and validate an AI (artificial intelligence)-aid method in myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) to differentiate ischemia in coronary artery disease. Methods We retrospectively selected 599 patients who had received gated-MPI protocol. Images were acquired using hybrid SPECT-CT systems. A training set was used to train and develop the neural network and a validation set was used to test the predictive ability of the neural network. We used a learning technique named “YOLO” to carry out the training process. We compared the predictive accuracy of AI with that of physician interpreters (beginner, inexperienced, and experienced interpreters). Results Training performance showed that the accuracy ranged from 66.20% to 94.64%, the recall rate ranged from 76.96% to 98.76%, and the average precision ranged from 80.17% to 98.15%. In the ROC analysis of the validation set, the sensitivity range was 88.9 ~ 93.8%, the specificity range was 93.0 ~ 97.6%, and the AUC range was 94.1 ~ 96.1%. Abstract Medical devices are commonly implanted underneath the skin, but how to real‐time noninvasively monitor their migration, integrity, and biodegradation in human body is still a formidable challenge. Here, the study demonstrates that benzyl violet 4B (BV‐4B), a main component in the FDA‐approved surgical suture, is found to produce fluorescence signal in the first near‐infrared window (NIR‐I, 700–900 nm) in polar solutions, whereas BV‐4B self‐assembles into highly crystalline aggregates upon a formation of ultrasmall nanodots and can emit strong fluorescence in the second near‐infrared window (NIR‐II, 1000–1700 nm) with a dramatic bathochromic shift in the absorption spectrum of ≈200 nm. Intriguingly, BV‐4B‐involved suture knots underneath the skin can be facilely monitored during the whole degradation process in vivo, and the rupture of the customized BV‐4B‐coated silicone catheter is noninvasively diagnosed by NIR‐II imaging. Furthermore, BV‐4B suspended in embolization glue achieves hybrid fluorescence‐guided surgery (hybrid FGS) for arteriovenous malformation. As a proof‐of‐concept study, the solid‐state BV‐4B is successfully used for NIR‐II imaging of surgical sutures in operations of patients. Overall, as a clinically translatable solid‐state dye, BV‐4B can be applied for in vivo monitoring the fate of medical devices by NIR‐II imaging.

BackgroundTo assess the prognostic significance of preoperative hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) score combined with multiple peripheral blood indicators in patients with early breast cancer (EBC).MethodsA total of 411 patients with early invasive breast cancer underwent breast-conserving surgery or radical surgery at Changzhou No.2 People’s Hospital from January 2015 to December 2020. The cut-off values of HALP, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) were calculated using the software X-tile. The primary outcomes were recurrence-free survival (RFS), which was analyzed using the Kaplan Meier (K-M) method, while log-rank was used to test the differences between high and low curves. BackgroundUlcerative colitis (UC) patients with relapsed disease are most likely to suffer from anxiety and depression. Increasing data indicates that psychological issues can change the composition of intestinal flora. Thus, we aim to seek the variation of intestinal microbiota composition in remission UC patients with anxiety and depression in Northwest China.ResultsIn this study, 45 UC patients in remission were enrolled. The incidence of anxiety was 33.3%, and the prevalence of depression was 22.2%. There was no statistical difference in the alpha diversity of fecal microbiota, while beta diversity had a significant difference between the anxiety group and the non-anxiety group and the depression group and the non-depression group. Species composition analysis results showed that the ratio of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacilales significantly decreased. At the same time, the proportion of Escherichia-Shigella and Proteus_mirabilis increased in the anxiety group, and the ratio of Faecalibacterium and Bifidobacterium significantly decreased. In contrast, Escherichia-Shigella increased in the depression group at the gene levels.ConclusionAnxiety and depression still exist in UC patients even in the remission period. We first identify that the proportion of probiotics decreases while the proportion of pathogens increases in UC patients with anxiety and depression. These findings may provide a new pathophysiological mechanism for the recurrence of disease caused by impaired psychological function and a new method for the treatment strategy of UC patients with psychological issues.

Abstract Assembling functional materials into one‐dimensional arrays is an efficient method for the integration of devices. However, the complicated assembly methods and poor stability of patterns still restrict their further applications. In this work, the well‐dispersible nanosheets are prepared by introducing a bionic adhesive strategy. The oriented arrays with uniform morphology and precise position are realized by the liquid‐film‐induced capillary bridge assembly method. Owing to the abundant interactions between catechol structure and targeted substrates, the micro‐wires present extraordinary stability in adhesion tests. Field‐effect transistors (FETs) based on these micro‐wires are also fabricated, and enhanced carrier mobility is achieved, exhibiting to be 41 times higher than pristine film‐structured FETs. Micro‐wires have a certain stability and improved electrical properties at the same time, which endows this strategy with practicality and application prospect.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs), also known as tumor-initiating cells (TICs), are a subset of tumor cells that persist within tumors as a distinct population. They drive tumor initiation, relapse, and metastasis through self-renewal and differentiation into multiple cell types, similar to typical stem cell processes. Despite their importance, the morphological features of CSCs have been poorly understood. Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology have provided automated recognition of biological images of various stem cells, including CSCs, leading to a surge in deep learning research in this field. This mini-review explores the emerging trend of deep learning research in the field of CSCs. It introduces diverse convolutional neural network (CNN)-based deep learning models for stem cell research and discusses the application of deep learning for CSC research. Finally, it provides perspectives and limitations in the field of deep learning-based stem cell research.

This study investigates the association between prenatal exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and the incidence and frequency of respiratory tract infections (RTIs) in preschool children. We selected 527 mother–infant pairs from Wuhan Healthy Baby Cohort (WHBC), China. Ten PFASs were measured in umbilical cord serum, and we collected data on common RTIs in preschool children aged 4 years through a questionnaire. Associations of single PFASs with the incidence and frequency of RTIs were analyzed via Logistic regression and Poisson regression, while the collective effect was assessed by weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression. Furthermore, stratified and interaction analyses were performed to evaluate if there were sex-specific associations. We found a positive correlation between perfluorododecanoic acid (PFDoDA) and the incidence of tonsillitis, with several PFASs also showing positive associations with its frequency. Moreover, perfluorotridecanoic acid (PFTrDA) showed a positive link with the frequency of common cold. The results of WQS regression revealed that after adjusting for other covariates, PFASs mixture showed a positive association with the incidence of tonsillitis, the frequency of common cold, and episodes. In particular, perfluoroundecanoic acid (PFUnDA), PFDoDA, PFTrDA, perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) and 8:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonic acid (8:2 Cl-PFESA) had the most significant impact on this combined effect. The results suggest that both single and mixed exposures to PFASs may cause RTIs in preschool children. However, there was no statistically significant interaction between different PFASs and sex.

Abstract Background Gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) is an aggressive gastric adenocarcinoma with a poor prognosis when diagnosed at an advanced stage. As alternative medicine, two natural supplements (ascorbate (AA) and sodium alpha lipoate (LA)) have been shown to inhibit various cancers with mild side effects. Methods These two natural supplements and a series of combinations (AA&LA, AA+LA and LA + AA) were incubated with non-SRCC cells (GPM-1), patient-derived gastric origin SRCC (GPM-2), gastric-origin SRCCs (HSC-39 and KATO-3), human pancreatic (MIA PaCa-2) and ovarian (SKOV-3) cells for evaluating their therapeutic effects. Moreover, these treatments were applied in 3D-cultured organoids to reveal the feasibility of these approaches for in vivo study. Results Analyzing their antioxidant capabilities and dose-response curves, we observed that all four gastric cell lines, including three patient-derived cell lines were sensitive to ascorbate (~ 10 mM). The influence of ascorbate incubation time was studied, with a 16-h incubation found to be optimal for in vitro studies. Moreover, a simultaneous combination of AA and LA (AA&LA) did not significantly inhibit cell proliferation, while prior LA treatment increased the growth inhibition of AA therapy (LA + AA). Anti-cancer efficacy of AA was further confirmed in 3D-cultured SRCC (KATO-3) organoids. Conclusions This study highlights the potential of AA and LA + AA in treating gastric origin SRCC, and demonstrates the influence of order in which the drugs are administered.

In order to deepen the understanding of the role and regulation mechanisms of prokaryotic global transcription regulators in complex processes, including virulence, the associations between the affinity and binding sequences of Mycobacterium tuberculosis MtrA have been explored extensively. Analysis of MtrA 294 diversified 26 bp binding sequences revealed that the sequence similarity of fragments was not simply associated with affinity. The unique variation patterns of GC content and periodical and sequential fluctuation of affinity contribution curves were observed along the sequence in this study. Furthermore, docking analysis demonstrated that the structure of the dimer MtrA-DNA (high affinity) was generally consistent with other OmpR family members, while Arg 219 and Gly 220 of the wing domain interacted with the minor groove. The results of the binding box replacement experiment proved that box 2 was essential for binding, which implied the differential roles of the two boxes in the binding process. Furthermore, the results of the substitution of the nucleotide at the 20th and/or 21st positions indicated that the affinity was negatively associated with the value of minor groove width precisely at the 21st position. The dimerization of the unphosphorylated MtrA facilitated by a low-affinity DNA fragment was observed for the first time. However, the proportion of the dimer was associated with the affinity of substrate DNA, which further suggested that the affinity was actually one characteristic of the stability of dimers. Based on the finding of 17 inter-molecule hydrogen bonds identified in the interface of the MtrA dimer, including 8 symmetric complementary ones in the conserved α4-β5-α5 face, we propose that hydrogen bonds should be considered just as important as salt bridges and the hydrophobic patch in the dimerization. Our comprehensive study on a large number of binding fragments with quantitative affinity values provided new insight into the molecular mechanism of dimerization, binding specificity and affinity determination of MtrA and clues for solving the puzzle of how global transcription factors regulate a large quantity of target genes.

Abstract The recent discovery of 2D ferromagnetic materials provides new opportunities for fabricating 2D ferromagnets‐based spin valve devices and exploring related novel physics. However, up to now, almost all works adopt a spin valve configuration by inserting different types of 2D materials into the gap between two 2D ferromagnetic electrodes as barrier spacer, rather than applying traditional tunneling barrier, such as Al2O3 films grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD), probably attributed to the instability and incompatibility for the widely explored 2D ferromagnets (CrI3, Fe3GeTe2) to the ALD growth process. Here, Cr1−xTe, an air‐stable 2D ferromagnetic metal grown by chemical vapor deposition, show excellent compatibility to ALD process of depositing Al2O3 films. The nonencapsulated Cr1−xTe/Al2O3/Cr1−xTe vertical spin valve devices demonstrate high magnetoresistance ratio of ≈28% and large spin polarization of 0.36 at 2 K. Furthermore, a gradual evolution from tunneling to metallic spin‐valve behavior is found upon decreasing Al2O3 spacer thickness. The work is constructive and illuminating for connecting the 2D ferromagnetic electrodes with traditional tunneling spacers for fundamental research and device applications.

Abstract Background Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) is a major limitation of assisted reproductive technology, which is associated with impaired endometrial receptivity. Although N6-methyladenosine (m6A) has been demonstrated to be involved in various biological processes, its potential role in the endometrium of women with RIF has been poorly studied. Methods Global m6A levels and major m6A methyltransferases/demethylases mRNA levels in mid-secretory endometrium from normal and RIF women were examined by colorimetric m6A quantification strategy and quantitative real-time PCR, respectively. The effects of METTL3-mediated m6A modification on embryo attachment were evaluated by an vitro model of a confluent monolayer of Ishikawa cells co-cultured with BeWo spheroids, and the expression levels of homeo box A10 (HOXA10, a well-characterized marker of endometrial receptivity) and its downstream targets were evaluated by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blotting in METTL3-overexpressing Ishikawa cells. The molecular mechanism for METTL3 regulating HOXA10 expression was determined by methylated RNA immunoprecipitation assay and transcription inhibition assay. Results Global m6A methylation and METTL3 expression were significantly increased in the endometrial tissues from women with RIF compared with the controls. Overexpression of METTL3 in Ishikawa cells significantly decreased the ration of BeWo spheroid attachment, and inhibited HOXA10 expression with downstream decreased β3-integrin and increased empty spiracles homeobox 2 expression. METTL3 catalyzed the m6A methylation of HOXA10 mRNA and contributed to its decay with shortened half-life. Enforced expression of HOXA10 in Ishikawa cells effectively rescued the impairment of METTL3 on the embryo attachment in vitro. Conclusion Increased METTL3-mediated m6A modification represents an adverse impact on embryo implantation by inhibiting HOXA10 expression, contributing to the pathogenesis of RIF.

This paper aims to understand the drag coefficient discrepancy between the equivalent-twine and twisted-twine nets based on their wake and turbulence characteristics. To that end, we conduct unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (URANS) and the second-moment (Reynolds stress, RSM) simulations at a Reynolds number, Re=4.5×103, based on the effective diameter of the net twine, which corresponds to the subcritical flow regime. Then, the vortex structures and the turbulence statistics are assessed at AOA=90°. The results highlight that the wake interactions for the twisted-twine net are relatively strong compared to the equivalent-twine net, due to the disturbance of the helixes on the twisted twines. In comparison to the classical Karman vortex, the overall vortex shedding of these two nets is well organized. Symmetric vortices form behind the equivalent-twine net, while single vortices form behind the twisted-twine net. Moreover, the Reynolds normal and shear stresses show symmetric and anti-symmetric profiles. The addition of helixes to smooth circular cylinders changes the flow development, leading to a decrease of turbulence kinetic energy. With this understanding, engineers need to be carefully select the net type for preliminary design of marine aquaculture cages to avoid over- or underestimation of the drag forces.

Organic vapor sensors based on polymer owing to their tunable molecular structures and designable functions have attracted considerable research interest. However, detecting multiple organic vapors with high accuracy and a low detection limit is still challenging. Herein, inspired by the mammalian olfactory recognition system, organic vapor sensors based on one-dimensional microfilament array structures with a wide range of sensing gases are demonstrated. By introducing aggregation-induced emission (AIE) molecules, sensors possess dual-optical sensing mechanisms of variation in fluorescence intensity and wavelength. By virtue of the synergistic effects of dual signals, superb accuracy and incredibly low detection limit are achieved for identifying analytes. In particular, the polymer/AIE microfilament array can detect acetone vapor down to 0.03% of saturated vapor pressure. In the saturated vapor of acetone, the fluorescence intensity of the sensor arrays was reduced by 53.7%, while the fluorescence wavelength was red-shifted by 21 nm. Combined with the principal component analysis (PCA) algorithm, the polymer/AIE molecular sensor arrays accomplished the classification and identification of acetone, ethanol, methylene chloride, toluene, and benzene. This bioinspired approach with dual sensing signals may broaden practical applications to high-performance gas sensors for precise molecular detection.

VLFSs (Very Large Floating Structures) are often assembled by multiple modules through connectors where the connector structure is prone to stress concentration. Therefore, the loads at the connectors have become a significant focus in VLFS design. In this paper, the FMFC (Flexible Module Flexible Connector) method, which can account for the elastic deformation of each module and the connector, is established in order to predict the coupling response of the connector and the platform. The finite element model of a dual-module transfer platform with a hinged connector is established and the modal shape characteristics of the entire structure are analyzed. The accuracy of the method is verified through a model test, where the model was scaled as 1:50. Furthermore, the RAOs (Response Amplitude Operators) of connector loads were calculated. It was found that the horizontal loads (along the x and y directions) were more sensitive to the wave direction. Furthermore, the wave direction where the maximum short-term significant value appears was not consistent with the direction of the maximum RAO. The loads response law of the VLFS with a hinged connector is summarized in this paper and provides a reference for the design of connectors.

Peripheral T-cell lymphoma accounts for about 10% of all cases of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, less than 5% of patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma present with hypercalcaemia as the initial symptom, and less than 1% present with primary bone lesions. We herein describe a 76-year-old Chinese man who was diagnosed with primary bone adult T-cell lymphoma with extensive osteolysis, including bone loss in the radius, as the initial manifestation. He had developed severe generalised bone pain and an inability to raise his arms. X-ray examination revealed osteolytic destruction of the forearm with loss of the radial diaphysis. The patient was diagnosed with peripheral T-cell lymphoma based on his immunohistochemical results. He began treatment with the CHOPE chemotherapy regimen, which resulted in significant improvement of his bone pain.

Fluid–structure interactions of flexible net panels are complex and lack sufficient exploration. To examine the flow characteristics of flexible net panels with large deformation, we propose a partitioned coupling scheme in this paper. The coupled fluid–structure equations are solved separately under finite volume and finite element frameworks. The interface traction from the fluid solver is considered as a Neumann boundary condition for the solid domain, and the interface velocity is applied as a Dirichlet boundary condition for the fluid problem. Then, the forces can be transferred along the interface via Dirichlet-to-Neumann mapping. The results show that both the drag coefficient and the velocity reduction increase alongside the net solidity ratio (Sn), but they decrease as the Reynolds number/attack angle increases. A comparative study of drag coefficients is made between the present numerical simulations and the analytical predictions. This paper also examines the velocity distribution and vortex formation of flexible net panels. A single vortex forms in the shear layers and the wake when Sn = 0.16, and a pair of vortices mostly forms in the wake when Sn = 0.33. The vertical net twines predominantly affect the formation of the vortex behind the net, leading to delayed vortex shedding. The flow exhibits wake interactions due to the interference between the net twines in the high-solidity net panel. No such interference occurs in the low-solidity net panel, but the altered shear layers could cause severe velocity fluctuations in the near field.

PurposeTo develop a magneto-nanosensor (MNS) based multiplex assay to measure protein and autoantibody biomarkers from human serum for prostate cancer (CaP) diagnosis.Materials and methodsA 4-panel MNS autoantibody assay and a MNS protein assay were developed and optimized in our labs. Using these assays, serum concentration of six biomarkers including prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protein, free/total PSA ratio, as well as four autoantibodies against Parkinson disease 7 (PARK7), TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TARDBP), Talin 1 (TLN1), and Caldesmon 1 (CALD1) and were analyzed. Human serum samples from 99 patients (50 with non-cancer and 49 with clinically localized CaP) were evaluated.ResultsThe MNS assay showed excellent performance characteristics and no cross-reactivity. All autoantibody assays showed a statistically significant difference between CaP and non-cancer samples except for PARK7. The most significant difference was the combination of the four autoantibodies as a panel in addition to the free/total PSA ratio. This combination had the highest area under the curve (AUC)- 0.916 in ROC analysis.ConclusionsOur results suggest that this autoantibody panel along with PSA and free PSA have potential to segregate patients without cancer from those with prostate cancer with higher sensitivity and specificity than PSA alone.

Background/Aims: Even though the blood and lymphatic vascular systems are both involved in the occurrence of cancer metastases, it is believed that lymphatic system is primarily responsible for the initial metastasis. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanisms underlying lymphangiogenesis of multiple myeloma (MM), especially in pediatric period, have not been clarified. Methods: Here we studied vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) and matrix metalloproteinase 13 (MMP13) in pediatric MM patients. We overexpressed or inhibited VEGF-C in MM cells to study their effects on MMP13, and vice versa. A specific inhibitor for PI3k/Akt signaling pathway was used to examine the role of PI3k/Akt signaling in this regulatory axis. Results: Both VEGF-C and MMP13 significantly upregulated in MM with lymph-node metastases. A strong correlation between VEGF-C and MMP13 were detected in MM specimen. Using a human MM line 8226, we found that VEGF-C was regulated by MMP13 in MM cells, but not vice versa. Moreover, a specific PI3k/Akt inhibitor significantly abolished the effect of MMP13 on VEGF-C activation. Conclusion: Since VEGF-C is a well-known growth factor for lymphatic vessels, our data suggest that MMP13 may activate VEGF-C to promote cancer cell metastasis through lymphatic vascular systems in pediatric MM.

Novel biomarker assays and upgraded analytical tools are urgently needed to accurately discriminate benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) from prostate cancer (CaP). To address this unmet clinical need, we report a piezeoelectric/magnetic bead-based assay to quantitate prostate specific antigen (PSA; free and total), prostatic acid phosphatase, carbonic anhydrase 1 (CA1), osteonectin, IL-6 soluble receptor (IL-6sr), and spondin-2. We used the sensor to measure these seven proteins in serum samples from 120 benign prostate hypertrophy patients and 100 Gleason score 6 and 7 CaP using serum samples previously collected and banked. The results were analyzed with receiver operator characteristic curve analysis. There were significant differences between BPH and CaP patients in the PSA, CA1, and spondin-2 assays. The highest AUC discrimination was achieved with a spondin-2 OR free/total PSA operation--the area under the curve was 0.84 with a p value below 10(-6). Some of these data seem to contradict previous reports and highlight the importance of sample selection and proper assay building in the development of biomarker measurement schemes. This bead-based system offers important advantages in assay building including low cost, high throughput, and rapid identification of an optimal matched antibody pair.

We investigate the algorithm of direction and Doppler frequency estimation for bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar in spatial colored noise. A novel method of joint estimation of direction and Doppler frequency in spatial colored noise based on propagator method (PM) for bistatic MIMO radar is discussed. Utilizing the cross-correlation matrix which is formed by the adjacent outputs of match filter in the time domain, the special matrix is constructed to eliminate the influence of spatial colored noise. The proposed algorithm provides lower computational complexity and has very close parameters estimation compared to estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance technique (ESPRIT) algorithm in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). It is applicable even if the transmitted waveforms are not orthogonal. The estimated parameters can be paired automatically and the Cramér-Rao Bound (CRB) is given in spatial colored noise. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Visual tracking has extensive applications in intelligent monitoring and guidance systems. Among state-of-the-art tracking algorithms, Correlation Filter methods perform favorably in robustness, accuracy and speed. However, it also has shortcomings when dealing with pervasive target scale variation, motion blur and fast motion. In this paper we proposed a new real-time robust scheme based on Kernelized Correlation Filter (KCF) to significantly improve performance on motion blur and fast motion. By fusing KCF and STC trackers, our algorithm also solve the estimation of scale variation in many scenarios. We theoretically analyze the problem for CFs towards motions and utilize the point sharpness function of the target patch to evaluate the motion state of target. Then we set up an efficient scheme to handle the motion and scale variation without much time consuming. Our algorithm preserves the properties of KCF besides the ability to handle special scenarios. In the end extensive experimental results on benchmark of VOT datasets show our algorithm performs advantageously competed with the top-rank trackers.

Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation has played an important role in array signal processing. In this article, we address a problem of bind 2D-DOA estimation with L-shaped array. This article links the 2D-DOA estimation problem to the trilinear model. To exploit this link, we derive a trilinear decomposition-based 2D-DOA estimation algorithm in L-shaped array. Without spectral peak searching and pairing, the proposed algorithm employs well. Moreover, our algorithm has much better 2D-DOA estimation performance than the estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance technique algorithms and propagator method. Simulation results illustrate validity of the algorithm.

The assembly of functional materials into microstructures, which extends unique features such as enlarged specific surface areas, effective conduction paths, higher material utilization ratios, and ordered alignment compared to continuous films, has gained prominence in various fields. Achieving high performance in electronics requires cooperation among building blocks, fabrication methods, and device design. However, the remaining challenge is obtaining highly regular and large-scale patterns with controllable assembly methods while maximizing device performances. Manipulating functional materials with liquid assistance is a feasible approach to realizing controllable dewetting, regular molecule packing, and customized performances. This review focuses on the recent advances in preparing and applying liquid-induced microstructures. The predominant preparation technologies are summarized, including flow-enabled assembly, nanoimprint lithography, and capillary-bridge-mediated assembly. Furthermore, diverse applications of various microstructure-based electronics, such as flexible and transparent electrodes, organic field-effect transistors, gas sensors, photodetectors, and solar cells, are demonstrated.
