The crop pests and diseases in agriculture is one of the most important reason for the reduction of bulk grain and oil crops and the decline of fruit and vegetable crop quality, which threaten macroeconomic stability and sustainable development. However, the recognition method based on manual and instruments has been unable to meet the needs of scientific research and production due to its strong subjectivity and low efficiency. The recognition method based on pattern recognition and deep learning can automatically fit image features, and use features to classify and predict images. This study introduced the improved Vision Transformer (ViT) method for crop pest image recognition. Among them, the region with the most obvious features can be effectively selected by block partition. The self-attention mechanism of the transformer can better excavate the special solution that is not an obvious lesion area. In the experiment, data with 7 classes of examples are used for verification. It can be illustrated from results that this method has high accuracy and can give full play to the advantages of image processing and recognition technology, accurately judge the crop diseases and pests category, provide method reference for agricultural diseases and pests identification research, and further optimize the crop diseases and pests control work for agricultural workers in need.

As the new generation of artificial intelligence (AI) continues to evolve, weather big data and statistical machine learning (SML) technologies complement each other and are deeply integrated to significantly improve the processing and forecasting accuracy of fishery weather. Accurate fishery weather services play a crucial role in fishery production, serving as a great safeguard for economic benefits and personal safety, enabling fishermen to carry out fishery production better, and contributing to the sustainable development of the fishery industry. The objective of this paper is to offer an understanding of the present state of research and development in SML technology for simulating and forecasting fishery weather. Specifically, we analyze the current state of research and technical features of SML in weather and summarize the applications of SML in simulation and forecasting of fishery weather, which mainly include three aspects: fishery weather scenario generation, fishery weather forecasting, and fishery extreme weather warning. We also illustrate the main technical means and principles of SML technology. Finally, we summarize the most advanced SML fields and provide an outlook on their application value in the field of fishery weather.

Abstract Background Malignant extrarenal rhabdoid tumor (MERT) is a rare and highly metastatic tumor, which is more than 75% of patients dying within 6 months of initial diagnosis, and it often leads to misdiagnosis and delayed treatment. Case This paper reports a 16‐year‐old girl who presented with the chief complaint of acute abdominal pain. She underwent laparoscopic exploration and excisional biopsy, then pathological examination and immunohistochemistry revealed “extrarenal malignant rhabdomyoma.” One month after operation, she died of intra‐abdominal hemorrhage and multiple organ dysfunction. Conclusion MERT were often misdiagnosed and had a poor prognosis. The surgery and chemotherapy are usually beneficial to prolong the survival time of patients with MERT.

The relationship between fracture calcite veins and shale gas enrichment in the deep Ordovician Wufeng Formation–Silurian Longmaxi Formation (Wufeng–Longmaxi) shales in southern Sichuan Basin was investigated through core and thin section observations, cathodoluminescence analysis, isotopic geochemistry analysis, fluid inclusion testing, and basin simulation. Tectonic fracture calcite veins mainly in the undulating part of the structure and non-tectonic fracture calcite veins are mainly formed in the gentle part of the structure. The latter, mainly induced by hydrocarbon generation, occurred at the stage of peak oil and gas generation, while the former turned up with the formation of Luzhou paleouplift during the Indosinian. Under the influence of hydrocarbon generation pressurization process, fractures were opened and closed frequently, and oil and gas episodic activities are recorded by veins. The formation pressure coefficient at the maximum paleodepth exceeds 2.0. The formation uplift stage after the Late Yanshanian is the key period for shale gas migration. Shale gas migrates along the bedding to the high part of the structure. The greater the structural fluctuation is, the more intense the shale gas migration activity is, and the loss is more. The gentler the formation is, the weaker the shale gas migration activity is, and the loss is less. The shale gas enrichment in the core of gentle anticlines and gentle synclines is relatively higher.

Shale gas, as an important unconventional oil and gas resource, plays an important role in energy supply. Due to the strong mechanical heterogeneity and compactness, which requires the use of fracturing to crush the formation to obtain industrial production capacity. Therefore, it is very important to analyze shale’s mechanical properties and fracturing propagation laws. In this paper, the shale numerical model is established by adopting discrete element method (DEM). The mesoscopic constitutive parameters of shale with different matrix and bedding strength are determined based on rock samples tests. The reliability of the model is verified by finite element method. And the fracture propagation laws under the influence of shale beddings are studied. The results show that the existence of bedding fractures leads to the nonuniformity of fractures propagation in shale reservoirs. The stress difference of 5 MPa and the approach Angle of 75° are the key factors affecting the interaction between hydraulic fractures and natural fractures. As the bedding number increases, the borehole pressure increases and the total number of fractures’ propagation decreases. The results provide a theoretical basis for further understanding of fractures’ propagation in deep shale reservoirs, and have important guiding significance for optimization and improvement of fracture complexity in the subsequent construction.

Abstract The influence of geological and engineering factors results in the complex production characteristics of shale gas wells. The productivity evaluation method is effective to analyze the production decline law and estimate the ultimate recovery in the shale gas reservoir. This paper reviews the production decline method, analytical method, numerical simulation method, and machine learning method. which analyzes the applicable conditions, basic principles, characteristics, and limitations of different methods. The research found that the production decline method can mainly account for the gas well production and pressure data by fitting type curve analysis. The analytical method is able to couple multiple transport mechanisms and quantify the impact of different mechanisms on shale gas well productivity. Numerical simulation builds multiple pore media in shale gas reservoirs and performs production dynamics as well as capacity prediction visually. Machine learning methods are a nascent approach that can efficiently use available production data from shale gas wells to predict productivity. Finally, the research discusses the future directions and challenges of shale gas well productivity evaluation methods.

Based on structural distribution and fault characteristics of the Luzhou block, southern Sichuan Basin, as well as microseismic, well logging and in-situ stress data, the casing deformation behaviors of deep shale gas wells are summarized, and the casing deformation mechanism and influencing factors are identified. Then, the risk assessment chart of casing deformation is plotted, and the measures for preventing and controlling casing deformation are proposed. Fracturing-activated fault slip is a main factor causing the casing deformation in deep shale gas wells in the Luzhou block. In the working area, the approximate fracture angle is primarily 10°–50°, accounting for 65.34%, and the critical pore pressure increment for fault-activation is 6.05–9.71 MPa. The casing deformation caused by geological factors can be prevented/controlled by avoiding the faults at risk and deploying wells in areas with low value of stress factor. The casing deformation caused by engineering factors can be prevented/controlled by: (1) keeping wells avoid faults with risks of activation and slippage, or deploying wells in areas far from the faulting center if such avoidance is impossible; (2) optimizing the wellbore parameters, for example, adjusting the wellbore orientation to reduce the shear force on casing to a certain extent and thus mitigate the casing deformation; (3) optimizing the casing program to ensure that the curvature radius of the curved section of horizontal well is greater than 200 m while the drilling rate of high-quality reservoirs is not impaired; (4) optimizing the fracturing parameters, for example, increasing the evasive distance, lowering the single-operation pressure, and increasing the stage length, which can help effectively reduce the risk of casing deformation.

Abstract. Background:. Sirtuin-3 (Sirt3) has been documented to protect against mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis. Honokiol (HKL) is a Sirt3 pharmacological activator with reported neuroprotective effects in multiple neurological disorders. The present study aimed to explore the neuroprotective effects of HKL and the role of Sirt3 following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Methods:. An in vivo ICH model in rats was established by injecting autologous blood into the right basal ganglia. PC12 cells were stimulated with hemin. For the in vivo investigation, the modified Neurological Severity Scores and the Morris water maze test were performed to assess neurological deficits. Hematoxylin–Eosin and Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling staining were employed to evaluate the histopathology and apoptosis. Immunohistochemical staining was used to investigate the expression of Sirt3. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels were quantified to assess mitochondrial dysfunction. Cell counting kit-8, lactate dehydrogenase assay, and flow cytometry were used to analyze cell vitality and apoptosis in vitro. Immunofluorescence staining was performed to observe mitochondrial morphology and dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1) localization to mitochondria. Western blot was applied to quantify the expression of Sirt3, Bax, Bcl-2, cleaved-caspase-3, Drp1, phosphorylation of Drp1 at serine-616, and phosphorylation of Drp1 at serine-637 in vivo and in vitro. Results:. HKL treatment alleviated neurological deficits, attenuated the histopathological damage and cell apoptosis, and restored the decreased ATP levels in ICH rats. HKL improved cell survival rate, reduced cell apoptosis, and inhibited mitochondrial fission in PC12 cells. Moreover, both in vivo and in vitro models showed increased phosphorylation of Drp1 at Ser616, and reduced phosphorylation of Drp1 at Ser637. Meanwhile, immunofluorescence co-localization analysis revealed that hemin increased the overlap of Drp1 and mitochondria in PC12 cells. The phosphorylation and mitochondrial translocation of Drp1 were effectively reversed by HKL treatment. Importantly, the selective Sirt3 inhibitor 3-(1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) pyridine suppressed these effects. Conclusion:. Our findings demonstrated that HKL ameliorated ICH-induced apoptosis and mitochondrial fission by Sirt3, suggesting that HKL has immense prospects for the treatment of ICH.

Abstract This paper aims to study the influence of deep formation conditions on the mechanical properties of shale, which is of great significance for the engineering application of efficient development of deep shale gas. In this study, a real‐time high‐temperature (25°C–170°C) triaxial compression experiment was first carried out on shale samples. Then, based on the analysis results of rock mineral components and discrete element numerical simulation technology, a thermo‐mechanical coupling model (TMCM) was constructed, and the accuracy of the numerical model was verified. Finally, based on the micromechanical parameters, a numerical fracturing mechanism model considering the influence of temperature, natural fracture density, and fracture length was established, and the influence of current reservoir conditions on hydraulic fracturing was discussed. The results show that confining pressure has a greater effect on rock mechanics than temperature. When the temperature exceeds 110°C, the plasticity of rock samples increases, and the fracture morphology becomes complex. In addition, the increase in temperature promotes the fracture of microcracks to a certain extent. The research results are expected to provide a sufficient theoretical basis for the development and utilization of deep shale gas resources.

To determine the allelopathic effects of root exudates from Flaveria bidentis on function of Bacillus, pot experiment was used to collect root exudates from living plants and test its allelopathic effects on function of Bacillus frigoritolerans and Bacillus megaterium, which were two dominant bacteria in the rhizosphere soil of F. bidentis. To obtain the allelopathic substances, the root exudates were successively extracted by N-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and N-butanol, and their allelopathic effects were tested. The results showed that B. frigoritolerans and B. megaterium considerably increased the concentration of available phosphorus and nitrogen, respectively, when the soil was treated with different concentrations of root exudates. Among the four organic solvent extracts, dichloromethane extracts significantly increased the abundances of B. frigoritolerans and B. megaterium and promoted their nitrogen-fixing and phosphate-solubilizing abilities. Phenol was detected in dichloromethane extracts by gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Meanwhile, phenol promoted the ability to fix nitrogen of B. megaterium and its growth by increasing the soil available nitrogen concentration, but phenol promoted the ability to solubilize phosphate of B. frigoritolerans only in 0.1mg/mL concentration. Therefore, phenol was an allelochemicals in the root exudates of F. bidentis that affects the growth and activities of B. megaterium.

Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) could cause acute infection in host cells, or they could coexist with host cells to generate persistent infection. In persistent infection, the virus could survive for a long time in the host and could be transmitted between different host cells. In the case of FMDV-persistent infection cell line, there is a remarkable significant cellular heterogeneity in the FMDV-persistent infection cell line due to differences of viral load in the individual cells within the cell line. However, the mechanisms of FMDV-persistent infection are not well understood. It is now generally accepted that multiple factors contribute to the coevolution of viruses and cells during the course of persistent infection. The outcome would influence the development of persistent FMDV infection conjointly, reaching a state of equilibrium ultimately. Therefore, in order to elucidate the mechanism of cellular heterogeneity in FMDV-persistent infection cell line, single-cell sequencing was performed on BHK-Op, and pseudotime trajectory plot was draw through cell cluster. Based on the cell clusters, we predicted the development and progression of the FMDV-persistent infection. It could be well explained by the fact that, in BHK-Op cells, there are a fraction of infected cells and a fraction of virus-exposed but uninfected bystander cells. By further comparing the transcripts in cell clusters, we found that these genes were involved in changes in ribosome biogenesis, cell cycle, and intracellular signaling including the interferon signaling pathway and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. Through comprehensive cross-tabulation analysis of differential expressed genes in various cluster of cells, we identified a high association of Fos, a downstream transcription factor of the MAPK/extracellular signal–regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway, with viral replication during the formation of FMDV-persistent infection. Through the further study of Fos, we found that downregulation of Fos facilitates viral clearance during FMDV-persistent infection. Upregulation of c-Raf, which is the upstream of the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway, could promote FMDV replication through downregulation of Fos. Our research is the first to provide insight into the mechanism of the formation FMDV-persistent infection through single-cell sequencing using persistent infection cell line. Pseudotime trajectory analysis was the first time to apply for FMDV-persistent infection cell line. Our work highlights the detailed overview of the evolution of FMDV-persistent infection. We also analyzed the differential expressed genes in the replication or elimination of FMDV within the host. We found that the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway and its downstream transcription factor Fos play an important role in FMDV-persistent infection.

Wells with low gas content and low resistivity in the Changning area, southern Sichuan Basin were selected for this study. The burial-thermal history was reconstructed and the characteristics of multi-phase fluid activity were clarified using microscopic observation and testing of fluid inclusions in the Longmaxi shale fracture veins. Compared with wells with a high gas content and high resistivity, the influence of fluid activity on resistivity was analyzed. The results showed that the thermal evolution of the bituminous inclusions trapped in the veins has reached the stage of carbonaceous-metamorphic bitumen, and the organic matter is fully cracked for gas generation, with some organic matter exhibiting the phenomenon of “graphitization.” The synchronous fluid with bitumen was existed due to shallow burial with a middle-low maturity stage of about 280 and 292 Ma. Two phases of fluids existed in the deep burial stage, thus maturing for about 103 Ma, and the uplift stage at about 28 and 32 Ma, with high homogenization temperatures (Th) (varying from 185 to 195°C and 165–180°C). The corresponding pressure coefficients varied between 1.67 and 2.09, 1.56 and 1.92 in a moderate-strong high-pressure state. The last two phases of fluid formation in the late uplift stage for about 4 to 19 Ma and 6 to 10 Ma were characterized by low salinity at medium-low Th (varied from 140 to 155°C and 120–135°C), with pressures of 57.47–74.50 MPa and 51.44–59.41 MPa (pressure coefficients of 1.09–1.41 and 1.18–1.37), in an atmospheric-weak overpressure state. In the initial uplift stage after deep burial, the fluid closure in the Changning area was good. In contrast, the wells are filled with low gas content because of the strong tectonic forces causing the shale gas to be released and the multi-phase fluid activity that happens during the late uplift stage. New evidence indicates that the emergence of low resistance in the localized Changning area is not only related to the high degree of evolution of organic matter but is also affected by the multi-phase fluid modification in the late uplift stage.

AbstractHerein, integrated vertical variation characteristic analysis was conducted by measuring total organic carbon (TOC), major and trace elements in Upper Ordovician-Lower Silurian (Wufeng-Longmaxi formations) black shale in Weiyuan, Luzhou, and Changning areas, southern Sichuan Basin to clarify the control of organic matter (OM) enrichment in different sublayers. According to the cycle boundary, it was divided into member 1 (submember 1 and submember 2) and member 2 from early to late Longmaxi formation, while it was divided into 4 sublayers from early to late during submember 1 depositional period. Under the warm and humid paleoclimate, high paleoproductivity, and gradually oxic paleoredox conditions, the TOC content (0.22-3.27 wt% in Luzhou area) in Wufeng formation increased gradually from early to late under the cocontrolling of tectonic framework and stagnant sea. After the glacial period, the warm and humid climate of Wufeng formation continued in Longmaxi formation, and TOC content reached the highest in sublayer 1 (2.02-4.02 wt%, 4.78 wt%, and 6.45 wt% in Weiyuan, Luzhou, and Changning areas, respectively), due to the high paleoproductivity and high sea level caused by melting glaciers, causing the extremely anoxic environment. The OM was preserved best. It remains higher in sublayer 2 (2.39 wt%, 3.69-4.18 wt%, and 3.5-3.86 wt% in three areas, respectively) because of the anoxic environment caused by deep water and the high paleoproductivity, but the temporary hot and dry environment has a certain negative impact on the OM preservation. Under the stable paleoproductivity, sublayer 3 has a character of water decreasing slowly, and the suboxic environment led to the decrease of TOC content (3.82-5.28 wt% and 3.77-4.13 wt% in Luzhou and Changning areas, respectively). Meanwhile, that in the yuan area became deeper and the TOC content became relatively higher (1.92-3.33 wt%). Under the open environment, sublayer 4 was controlled by lower sea level caused by regression, resulting in lower TOC content (1.31-4.57 wt%, 1.64-3.52 wt%, and 3.88-4.49 wt% in three areas, respectively). However, the global regression of the submember 2 period, high terrigenous debris dilution, and oxic environment lead to the no preservation of OM. Generally speaking, the enrichment of OM is not only affected by the changes of global sea level and paleoproductivity to some extent (Longmaxi shale) but also controlled by the tectonic framework in Sichuan Basin (Wufeng shale). The findings of this study can help for a better understanding of the OM enrichment mechanism and provide a theoretical basis for the evaluation of high-quality source rocks.

Abstract The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, poses a severe threat to humanity. Rapid and comprehensive analysis of both pathogen and host sequencing data is critical to track infection and inform therapies. In this study, we performed unbiased metatranscriptomic analysis of clinical samples from COVID-19 patients using a recently developed RNA-seq library construction method (TRACE-seq), which utilizes tagmentation activity of Tn5 on RNA/DNA hybrids. This approach avoids the laborious and time-consuming steps in traditional RNA-seq procedure, and hence is fast, sensitive, and convenient. We demonstrated that TRACE-seq allowed integrated characterization of full genome information of SARS-CoV-2, putative pathogens causing coinfection, antibiotic resistance, and host response from single throat swabs. We believe that the integrated information will deepen our understanding of pathogenesis and improve diagnostic accuracy for infectious diseases.

AbstractIn southern Sichuan Basin, the main production layers are characterized by deeply buried, high stress difference, and complex structural conditions. The Luzhou area is far from large faults, and natural fractures are greatly important for shale gas storage and production. Multi-scale natural fractures control the migration, enrichment, and preservation conditions of shale gas, and facilitate the formation of complex fracture network under the action of hydraulic fracturing. In this study, based on the outcrops, drilling cores, geochemical tests, thin section, and other experiments, the development characteristics of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale in the Luzhou block, Southern China, are statistically analyzed, and the controlling factors (e.g., tectonic factors, organic matter, mineral components, mechanical properties) are discussed in details. Fractures observed in the outcrops are mainly regional fractures with two groups of orthogonal joints. Similarly, fractures observed in the core are also mainly joints fractures perpendicular to the laminae with three typical features (high-density, high-angle, and unfilled). In detail, steeply dipping fractures (75-90°) account for 78.1% of all fractures, with 85.1% being unfilled, 78.1% having a longitudinal extension less than 4 cm, and 65.1% having a spacing less than 2 cm. In brief, there exist cross-scale similarity among outcrops, cores, and microscopic thin sections, which is critical to the shale gas preservation conditions. Based on this understanding, further research is conducted on the relationship between the fracture density and gas content, which shows that (i) when the fracture density is less than 122 number/m, TOC content and fracture density together positively dominate gas content; (ii) when fracture density exceeds 122 number/m, gas content appears negative with fracture density, and TOC content is not the critical factor anymore. The above study establishes quantitative limits for shale gas preservation in the study block. It may assist in providing references for determining the sweet spot area and further deep shale gas exploration and development in the southern Sichuan Basin.

AbstractThe efficient development of fractured volcanic reservoir relies on fracturing, while the existence of natural fractures has an important impact on hydraulic fracturing in this reservoir. There are few reports on fracturing optimization of deep volcanic gas reservoirs in Songliao Basin in China; thus, the parameter optimization under single-stage action is studied. On the basis of logging interpretation, coring observation, and seismic interpretation, the fracture development degree is obtained. By employing numerical simulation and orthogonal tests, hydraulic fracturing optimization design is carried out. The results indicate that the pumping rate of 0.01 m3/s/m and perforation direction parallel to the maximum principal stress are the optimum parameters for the studied volcanic reservoirs. In addition, multibranch seam expansion will occur when the displacement reaches 0.01 m3/s/m according to fracture morphology results after fracturing. And the research method has certain significance for improving the fracturing design of fractured reservoir in the research block.

Introduction We conducted this cross-sectional study to explore the relationship between serum fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) level and sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy (STDR).Research design and methods A total of 654 patients with type 2 diabetes were recruited. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) was evaluated by the bilateral retinal photography, and patients were assigned into groups of no DR (NDR) (n=345, 52.75%), non-sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy (NSTDR) (n=207, 31.65%), involving patients with mild or moderate non-proliferative retinopathy (NPDR) and STDR (n=102, 15.60%), including those with severe NPDR or proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Serum FGF21 levels were quantified by a sandwich ELISA. Patients were divided into quartiles according to their serum FGF21 level.Results There was a significant difference in serum FGF21 level among the three groups of patients (p478.76 pg/mL suggested the occurrence of DR and that level >554.69 pg/mL indicated STDR (p554.69 pg/mL.

In this work, a series of intensive laboratory tests are conducted to measure the material constituents, mechanical properties, and to examine macro-micro-failure modes of various types of rocks from tight gas reservoirs in the Da Qing oilfield in China. A set of key parameters are experimentally determined, including porosity, mineralogical compositions, microstructure, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, triaxial compressive strength, as well as macro- and micro-morphology failure modes. The relationships of these parameters are systematically analyzed, and the effects of the material constituents and microstructure characteristics such as cementation type, porosity, and mineral composition on rock mechanical properties are revealed as well as the patterns of micro- and macro-failures in types of rocks are investigated. The result shows that the micro-failure mainly exhibits features of transgranular and intergranular porous polymer fracture, and the macro-failure modes are mainly three types: shear-dominated, mixed shear–tensile and mixed tensile–shear. The mixed tensile–shear failure has mainly tensile fractures with branch fractures crossing each other, which forms a complex system fracture network. These findings are of importance for “sweet pot” evaluations, wellbore stability analysis, and hydraulic fracturing design for oil and gas production in tight gas reservoirs.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication involves many viral and host factors. Host factor SPRY domain- and SOCS box-containing protein 2(SPSB2) belongs to SPSB family, and it recruits target proteins by the SPRY domain and forms E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes by the SOCS box. As an adaptor protein, it can regulate the host's response to infection, but little is known about whether SPSB2 plays a role in HCV replication. In the present study, we found that HCV infection significantly upregulated the mRNA and protein levels of SPSB2 in HCVcc-infected cells. Exogenous expression of SPSB2 in hepatoma cells decreased HCV RNA and protein levels which depended on the SOCS box, while knockdown of endogenous SPSB2 increased HCV RNA and protein levels. Additionally, we demonstrated that SPSB2 interacted with HCV structural protein E1 and nonstructural protein protein 5A (NS5A) via the C-terminal portion of the SPSB2 SPRY domain. Furthermore, SPSB2 induced NS5A ubiquitination and mediated NS5A degradation. Collectively, this study discovered host factor SPSB2 significantly inhibits HCV replication by interacting and degrading NS5A.

In this paper, we mainly count the number of subgroup chains of a finite nilpotent group. We derive a recursive formula that reduces the counting problem to that of finite p-groups. As applications of our main result, the classification problem of distinct fuzzy subgroups of finite abelian groups is reduced to that of finite abelian p-groups. In particular, an explicit recursive formula for the number of distinct fuzzy subgroups of a finite abelian group whose Sylow subgroups are cyclic groups or elementary abelian groups is given.

The present study was undertaken to specify the effect of raw soybean on oxidative status of digestive organs in mice. For this purpose, thirty male (C57BL/6J) mice were randomly divided into three groups and fed on different diets as follows: Group 1 was fed on control diet, Group 2 was fed on raw soybean diet and Group 3 was fed on raw soybean diet supplemented with 30 mg/kg cysteamine. After two weeks of feeding, duodenum, liver and pancreas samples were collected to measure oxidative and antioxidative parameters. The results show that ingestion of raw soybean markedly increased contents of superoxide anion and malondialdehyde (MDA) and activity of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), decreased activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), T-AOC and content of reduced glutathione (GSH) in digestive organs of mice (P < 0.05). In the group fed with raw soybean diet supplemented with cysteamine, oxidative stress was mitigated. However, oxidative parameter levels were still higher than those of control diet-fed group. The present study indicates that ingestion of raw soybean could result in an imbalance between oxidant and antioxidant, and thus induce oxidative stress in digestive organs of mice.

This study aimed to study the effects of acylated ghrelin on glucose and triglyceride metabolism in rat myoblasts under palmitic acid- (PA-) induced high fat conditions. Rat myoblasts were treated with 0, 10−11, 10−9, or 10−7 M acylated ghrelin and 0.3 mM PA for 12 h. Triglyceride accumulation was determined by Oil-Red-O staining and the glycerol phosphate dehydrogenase-peroxidase enzymatic method, and glucose uptake was determined by isotope tracer.
