An undirected graph $G$ is said to admit an antimagic orientation if there exist an orientation $D$ and a bijection between $E(G)$ and $\{1,2,\ldots,|E(G)|\}$ such that any two vertices have distinct vertex sums, where the vertex sum of a vertex is the sum of the labels of the in-edges minus that of the out-edges incident to the vertex. It is conjectured by Hefetz, M\"{u}tze, and Schwartz that every connected graph admits an antimagic orientation. A weak version of this problem is to require the distinct vertex sums only for the adjacent vertices. In that case, we say the graph admits a local antimagic orientation. Chang, Jing, and Wang~\cite{CJW20} conjectured that every connected graph admits a local antimagic orientation. In this paper, we give an affirmative answer to the conjecture of Chang et al., and show that almost every graph satisfies the conjecture of Hefetz et al., Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure

Let $G(V,E)$ be a simple graph with $m$ edges. For a given integer $k$, a $k$-shifted antimagic labeling is a bijection $f: E(G) \to \{k+1, k+2, \ldots, k+m\}$ such that all vertices have different vertex-sums, where the vertex-sum of a vertex $v$ is the total of the labels assigned to the edges incident to $v$. A graph $G$ is {\it $k$-shifted antimagic} if it admits a $k$-shifted antimagic labeling. For the special case when $k=0$, a $0$-shifted antimagic labeling is known as {\it antimagic labeling}; and $G$ is {\it antimagic} if it admits an antimagic labeling. A spider is a tree with exactly one vertex of degree greater than two. A spider forest is a graph where each component is a spider. In this article, we prove that certain spider forests are $k$-shifted antimagic for all $k \geq 0$. In addition, we show that for a spider forest $G$ with $m$ edges, there exists a positive integer $k_0< m$ such that $G$ is $k$-shifted antimagic for all $k \geq k_0$ and $k \leq -(m+k_0+1)$., Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures

Given posets $\mathbf{P}_1,\mathbf{P}_2,\ldots,\mathbf{P}_k$, let the {\em Boolean Ramsey number} $R(\mathbf{P}_1,\mathbf{P}_2,\ldots,\mathbf{P}_k)$ be the minimum number $n$ such that no matter how we color the elements in the Boolean lattice $\mathbf{B}_n$ with $k$ colors, there always exists a poset $\mathbf{P}_i$ contained in $\mathbf{B}_n$ whose elements are all colored with $i$. This function was first introduced by Axenovich and Walzer~\cite{AW}. Recently, many results on determining $R(\mathbf{B}_m,\mathbf{B}_n)$ have been published. In this paper, we will study the function $R(\mathbf{P}_1,\mathbf{P}_2,\ldots,\mathbf{P}_k)$ for each $\mathbf{P}_i$'s being the $V$-shaped poset. That is, a poset obtained by identifying the minimal elements of two chains. Another major result presented in the paper is to determine the minimal posets $\mathbf{Q}$ contained in $\mathbf{B}_n$, when $R(\mathbf{P}_1,\mathbf{P}_2,\ldots,\mathbf{P}_k)=n$ is determined, having the Ramsey property described in the previous paragraph. In addition, we define the {\em Boolean rainbow Ramsey number} $RR(\mathbf{P},\mathbf{Q})$ the minimum number $n$ such that when arbitrarily coloring the elements in $\mathbf{B}_n$, there always exists either a monochromatic $\mathbf{P}$ or a rainbow $\mathbf{Q}$ contained in $\mathbf{B}_n$. The upper bound for $RR(\mathbf{P},\mathbf{A}_k)$ was given by Chang, Li, Gerbner, Methuku, Nagy, Patkos, and Vizer for general poset $\mathbf{P}$ and $k$-element antichain $\mathbf{A}_k$. We study the function for $\mathbf{P}$ being the $V$-shaped posets in this paper as well.

It was conjectured by Hefetz, M\"{u}tze, and Schwartz~\cite{HMS10} in 2010 that every connected simple graph admits an antimagic orientation. Motivated by the paper of Axenovich and Walzer [2], we study the Ramsey-type problems on the Boolean lattices. Given posets $P$ and $Q$, we look for the smallest Boolean lattice $\mathcal{B}_N$ such that any coloring on elements of $\mathcal{B}_N$ must contain a monochromatic $P$ or a rainbow $Q$. This number $N$ is called the Boolean rainbow Ramsey number of $P$ and $Q$ in the paper. Particularly, we determine the exact values of the Boolean rainbow Ramsey number for $P$ and $Q$ being the antichains, the Boolean posets, or the chains. From these results, we also give some general upper and lower bounds of the Boolean rainbow Ramsey number for general $P$ and $Q$ in terms of the poset parameters.

We address the following rainbow Ramsey problem: For posets $P,Q$ what is the smallest number $n$ such that any coloring of the elements of the Boolean lattice $B_n$ either admits a monochromatic copy of $P$ or a rainbow copy of $Q$. We consider both weak and strong (non-induced and induced) versions of this problem. We also investigate related problems on (partial) $k$-colorings of $B_n$ that do not admit rainbow antichains of size $k$.

The concept of antimagic labelings of a graph is to produce distinct vertex sums by labeling edges through consecutive numbers starting from one. A long-standing conjecture is that every connected graph, except a single edge, is antimagic. Some graphs are known to be antimagic, but little has been known about sparse graphs, not even trees. This paper studies a weak version called $k$-shifted-antimagic labelings which allow the consecutive numbers starting from $k+1$, instead of starting from 1, where $k$ can be any integer. This paper establishes connections among various concepts proposed in the literature of antimagic labelings and extends previous results in three aspects: $\bullet$ Some classes of graphs, including trees and graphs whose vertices are of odd degrees, which have not been verified to be antimagic are shown to be $k$-shifted-antimagic for sufficiently large $k$. $\bullet$ Some graphs are proved $k$-shifted-antimagic for all $k$, while some are proved not for some particular $k$. $\bullet$ Disconnected graphs are also considered.

A graph $G=(V,E)$ is strongly antimagic, if there is a bijective mapping $f: E \to \{1,2,\ldots,|E|\}$ such that for any two vertices $u\neq v$, not only $\sum_{e \in E(u)}f(e) \ne \sum_{e\in E(v)}f(e)$ and also $\sum_{e \in E(u)}f(e) < \sum_{e\in E(v)}f(e)$ whenever $\deg(u)< \deg(v) $, where $E(u)$ is the set of edges incident to $u$. Given a graded poset $P$, consider a chain decomposition $\mathcal{C}$ of $P$. If $|C_1|\le |C_2|$ implies that the set of the ranks of elements in $C_1$ is a subset of the ranks of elements in $C_2$ for any chains $C_1,C_2\in \mathcal{C}$, then we say $\mathcal{C}$ is a nested chain decomposition (or nesting, for short) of $P$, and $P$ is said to be nested. In 1970s, Griggs conjectured that every normalized matching rank-unimodal poset is nested. This conjecture is proved to be true only for all posets of rank 2 [W:05], some posets of rank 3 [HLS:09,ENSST:11], and the very special cases for higher ranks. For general cases, it is still widely open. In this paper, we provide some sufficient conditions on the rank numbers of posets of rank 3 to satisfies the Griggs's conjecuture., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

For two posets $P$ and $Q$, we say $Q$ is $P$-free if there does not exist any order-preserving injection from $P$ to $Q$. The speical case for $Q$ being the Boolean lattice $B_n$ is well-studied, and the optiamal value is denoted as $\lanp$. Let us define $\La(Q,P)$ to be the largest size of any $P$-free subposet of $Q$. In this paper, we give an upper bound for $\La(Q,P)$ when $Q$ is a double chain and $P$ is any graded poset, which is better than the previous known upper bound, by means of finding the indpendence number of an auxiliary graph related to $P$. For the auxiliary graph, we can find its independence number in polynomial time. In addition, we give methods to construct the posets satisfying the Griggs-Lu conjecture., Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures

Let $m$, $n$, and $k$ be integers satisfying $0 < k \leq n < 2k \leq m$. A family of sets $\mathcal{F}$ is called an $(m,n,k)$-intersecting family if $\binom{[n]}{k} \subseteq \mathcal{F} \subseteq \binom{[m]}{k}$ and any pair of members of $\mathcal{F}$ have nonempty intersection. Maximum $(m,k,k)$- and $(m,k+1,k)$-intersecting families are determined by the theorems of Erd\H{o}s-Ko-Rado and Hilton-Milner, respectively. We determine the maximum families for the cases $n = 2k-1, 2k-2, 2k-3$, and $m$ sufficiently large., Comment: 16 pages

Given a finite poset $P$, we consider the largest size $\lanp$ of a family $\F$ of subsets of $[n]:=\{1,...,n\}$ that contains no subposet $P$. This continues the study of the asymptotic growth of $\lanp$; it has been conjectured that for all $P$, $\pi(P):= \lim_{n\rightarrow\infty} \lanp/\nchn$ exists and equals a certain integer, $e(P)$. While this is known to be true for paths, and several more general families of posets, for the simple diamond poset $\D_2$, the existence of $\pi$ frustratingly remains open. Here we develop theory to show that $\pi(P)$ exists and equals the conjectured value $e(P)$ for many new posets $P$. We introduce a hierarchy of properties for posets, each of which implies $\pi=e$, and some implying more precise information about $\lanp$. The properties relate to the Lubell function of a family $\F$ of subsets, which is the average number of times a random full chain meets $\F$. We present an array of examples and constructions that possess the properties.

For a family of subsets of $[n]:={1,2,...,n}$, the Lubell function is defined as $\hb_n(\F):=\sum_{F\in\F}\binom{n}{|F|}^{-1}$. In \cite{GriLiLu}, Griggs, Lu, and the author conjectured that if a family $\F$ of subset of $[n]$ does not contain four distinct sets $A$, $B$, $C$ and $D$ forming a diamond, namely $A\subset B\cap C$ and $B\cup C\subset D$, then $\hb_n(\F)\le 2+\lfloor\frac{n^2}{4}\rfloor/(n^2-n)$. Moreover, the upped bound is achieved by three types of families. In this paper, we prove the upper bound in the conjecture is asymptotically correct. In addition, we give some results related to the problem of maximizing the Lubell function for the poset-free families., Comment: There is a mistake of the proof in the main theorem

Given a finite poset P, we consider the largest size La(n,P) of a family of subsets of $[n]:=\{1,...,n\}$ that contains no subposet P. This problem has been studied intensively in recent years, and it is conjectured that $\pi(P):= \lim_{n\rightarrow\infty} La(n,P)/{n choose n/2}$ exists for general posets P, and, moreover, it is an integer. For $k\ge2$ let $\D_k$ denote the $k$-diamond poset $\{A< B_1,...,B_k < C\}$. We study the average number of times a random full chain meets a $P$-free family, called the Lubell function, and use it for $P=\D_k$ to determine $\pi(\D_k)$ for infinitely many values $k$. A stubborn open problem is to show that $\pi(\D_2)=2$; here we make progress by proving $\pi(\D_2)\le 2 3/11$ (if it exists)., Comment: 16 pages
