Primary vaginal cancer is rare, accounting for only 2% of all gynecological malignant tumors. Primary vaginal cell carcinoma is mainly squamous cell carcinoma, accounting for about 90%, and adenocarcinoma only accounts for 8–10%. Primary signet ring cell carcinoma of vagina is rare and has not been reported in the literature. This paper reports a case of signet ring cell carcinoma in vagina.

Improving carbon emission efficiency (CEE) would promote the development of the green and low-carbon economy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) region, China. This paper uses the EBM model of unexpected output to measure the city-level CEE of the BTH region from 2007 to 2016. The spatial distribution characteristics and evolution law of CEE are analyzed with respect to overall and local aspects, and the spatial quantile regression model is used to verify the influencing factors of CEE. The main findings are as follows: (1) The carbon emission in the BTH region is considered to be of medium efficiency, and there are eight cities within the region at middle- and high-efficiency levels. The overall efficiency values show a downward trend. Beijing, Cangzhou, Baoding have high-CEE values, whereas Handan, Tangshan, and Zhangjiakou have low-CEE values. (2) The CEE values for BTH show significant spatial agglomeration characteristics at both the global and local levels. The “H–H” agglomeration areas are primarily distributed in the central region, and the “L-L” agglomeration areas are chiefly distributed in the southern and northern regions. The spatial pattern change is generally stable. (3) The selected factors, URB, PGDP, DS, ISG, FDI, and TEL, have different regression coefficients on CEE at different quantiles.

An increase in homocysteine (Hcy) concentration is closely related to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This study aimed to further explore serum homocysteine concentration and its influencing factors in clinically young (≤ 35 years) patients with PCOS and hyperandrogenism.An electrochemical immunoassay was used to investigate the changes in serum homocysteine and related indexes in clinically young patients with PCOS and hyperandrogenism, and the results were statistically analyzed.Serum homocysteine concentration in clinically young patients with PCOS and hyperandrogenism (n = 208) was found to be significantly higher than in the control group (n = 663) (15.21 ± 9.99 vs. 12.56 ± 7.20 μmol/L, p0.0001), and the total testosterone concentration (1.65 ± 0.68 ng/mL) was higher in the PCOS group than in the control group (1.52 ± 0.58 ng/mL), p = 0.007. The receiver operating characteristic curve showed that the area under the curve of homocysteine in predicting PCOS was 0.606, and the 95% confidence interval (CI) was 0.563-0.650 (p0.001). The homocysteine concentrations of the two groups were graded, and it was found that the percentage of patients with homocysteine levels15 μmol/L was 26.92% in the PCOS group and 19.15% in the control group; the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (p = 0.0143). The serum homocysteine levels of the two groups were higher in obese patients than in non-obese patients (normal weight vs. overweight), and the difference in the control group was statistically significant.Serum homocysteine concentration in clinically young patients with PCOS and hyperandrogenism is elevated, so hyperhomocysteinemia can be used as one of the potential indicators of PCOS. In the process of the diagnosis and treatment of patients with PCOS, serum homocysteine concentration and body weight should both be considered.

Objective. The purpose was to compare the accuracy of extraprostatic extension (EPE) grade on MRI predicting EPE with Partin tables, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center nomogram (MSKCCn), and combined models and to analyze the clinical incremental value of EPE grade. Materials and Methods. 105 prostate cancer patients confirmed by pathology after radical prostatectomy in our hospital from 2017 to 2021 were selected. The clinical stage, PSA, Gleason score, number of positive biopsy cores, and percentage of positive biopsy cores were recorded. Evaluate EPE grade according to EPE grade criteria, and calculate the probability of predicting EPE with Partin tables and MSKCCn. EPE grade is combined with Partin tables and MSKCCn to construct EPE grade+Partin tables and EPE grade+MSKCCn models. Calculate the area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity of EPE grade, Partin tables, MSKCCn, EPE grade+Partin tables, and EPE grade+MSKCCn and compare their diagnostic efficacy. The clinical decision curve was used to analyze the clinical net income of each prediction scheme. Results. The AUC of EPE grade was 0.79, Partin tables was 0.50, MSKCCn was 0.78, the EPE grade+Partin table model was 0.79, and the EPE grade+MSKCCn model was 0.83. After EPE grade was combined with Partin tables and MSKCCn, the diagnostic efficiency of clinical model was significantly improved ( P < 0.05 ). There was no significant difference in the diagnostic efficacy of the combined model compared with the single EPE grade ( P > 0.05 ). The calibration curve of the combined model shows that it has a good calibration degree for EPE. In the analysis of the decision curve, the net income of the EPE grade is higher than that of Partin tables and MSKCCn and is equal to the EPE grade+Partin tables and is slightly lower than that of EPE grade+MSKCCn. The clinical net income of the combined model is obviously higher than that of individual clinical models. Conclusion. The accuracy of EPE classification in predicting prostate cancer EPE is high, and combined with the clinical model, it can significantly improve the diagnostic efficiency of the clinical model and increase the clinical benefit.

Although self-love is an important topic, it has not been viewed as appropriate for psychological research, especially in China. We conducted two studies to understand how Chinese people view self-love. In the first study, we surveyed 109 Chinese people about the dimensions of self-love using an open-ended questionnaire. In the second study, 18 participants were selected by means of intensity sampling and interviewed about the connotations and structure of Chinese self-love. The two studies revealed three important aspects of the Chinese understanding of self-love: (1) self-love has four dimensions: self, family, others, and society; (2) it comprises five components: self-cherishing, self-acceptance, self-restraint, self-responsibility, and self-persistence; and (3) the five components of self-love are linked together to form a stable personality structure. The reliability and validity of the two studies were strong. Finally, the results showed that Chinese self-love is dominated by Confucian culture, which provides guiding principles for how to be human. At the same time, it shows that there are differences in the understanding of self-love between Chinese and Western cultures, which provides an empirical basis for further research based on cross-cultural psychology and self-love psychology.

Emission reduction strategies based on provinces are key for China to mitigate its carbon emission intensity (CEI). As such, it is valuable to analyze the driving mechanism of CEI from a provincial view, and to explore a coordinated emission mitigation mechanism. Based on spatial econometrics, this study conducts a spatial-temporal effect analysis on CEI, and constructs a Spatial Durbin Model on the Panel data (SDPM) of CEI and its eight influential factors: GDP, urbanization rate (URB), industrial structure (INS), energy structure (ENS), energy intensity (ENI), technological innovation (TEL), openness level (OPL), and foreign direct investment (FDI). The main findings are as follows: (1) overall, there is a significant and upward trend of the spatial autocorrelation of CEI on 30 provinces in China. (2) The spatial spillover effect of CEI is positive, with a coefficient of 0.083. (3) The direct effects of ENI, ENS and TEL are significantly positive in descending order, while INS and GDP are significantly negative. The indirect effects of URB and ENS are significantly positive, while GDP, ENI, OPL and FDI are significantly negative in descending order. Economic and energy-related emission reduction measures are still crucial to the achievement of CEI reduction targets for provinces in China.

A more efficient use of China’s coal resources is key to rapidly promoting the growth of the country’s industrializing economy. As such, it is essential that an effective approach for measuring and evaluating the current efficiency of coal resources is developed. This paper measures the efficiency of coal resources in 30 provinces in China from 2000 to 2015 using an improved DEA model of Bootstrap, and it uses Tobit regression to analyze the influencing factors on the efficiency of coal resources. The results illustrate that: 1) The proposed approach could significantly improve upon the accuracy of the measurement of the traditional DEA model. 2) The efficiency of coal resources shows an uptrend of fluctuation for the research period. With respect to the influential factors, total coal consumption has the least influence on the efficiency of coal resources. In contrast, local financial science and technology expenditures have greatest influence on the efficiency of coal resources. Among all the influential factors, local financial science and technology expenditures have the greatest negative impact on energy efficiency of coal resources and it is very critical that the government increases investment in scientific and technological investment in the mining industry.

Abandoned coal mine reutilization plays a critical role in the sustainable development of the mining industry. Scientific decisions on reuse modes are a prerequisite and crucial issue to efficiently explore the idle resources of abandoned mines. This paper classified the reuse modes into 6 types with 19 sub-patterns and generalized the influence conditions into 3 categories with 17 sub-indexes, including mine conditions, natural and geological conditions, and supplementary conditions based on literature review and data sources. A logical deduction method named “condition-mode” was proposed from the constraint conditions and their degree of constraint to select the preliminary reutilization patterns of abandoned mines. Finally, a practical example of the Beijing west mining area was introduced to demonstrate the applicability and feasibility of the proposed method. The results indicate that this method can be employed to select some potential reuse patterns for abandoned underground coal mines. The most important implications are that the significance of more detailed analyses and techno-economic appraisals on multiple schemes from these decision results, which suggests a stepwise integration approach to generate a more promising subset of inference results. The research can provide a reference for the reuse of underground coal mines that have been closed or will be closed.

Four metal complexes based on 2-benzoylpyridine N,N-dimethylthiosemicarbazone (Bp44mT) were designed. Free ligand and zinc(ii), diorganotin(iv), gallium(iii) and cadmium(ii) complexes all demonstrated pronounced activity, which was indicated using the growth inhibition test in vitro. Interestingly, most of the compounds were found to be selective against hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells but had little effect on normal hepatocyte (QSG7701) cells. In particular, Zn(Bp44mT)(2) (1) exhibited toxicity on QSG7701 cells which approximately 12-fold lower than that on HepG2 cells. The studies of mechanisms of action indicated that 1 induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in a dose-dependent manner via the mitochondria transduction pathway. Protein analyses showed that 1 significantly promoted p21 and p53 gene expression, causing caspase-3 activation.

BACKGROUND With the advances in imaging technologies, multi-slice spiral computed tomography (MSCT) has demonstrated superiority in the diagnosis and staging of colorectal carcinoma. In the current study, preoperative TNM staging of colorectal carcinoma by using MSCT was conducted and compared with the corresponding postoperative pathological examination findings, in order to evaluate the accuracy of preoperative MSCT for TNM staging. MATERIAL AND METHODS Combinations of biphasic or triphasic enhanced-phase MSCT scans were obtained for 76 patients with colorectal carcinoma, and the TNM stage was determined based on imaging reconstruction from various angles and perspectives to display the size, location, and affected range of tumors. The preoperative TNM stage was compared with the postoperative pathological stage, and the consistency between the 2 methods was tested by the k test using SPSS 17.0 software. RESULTS Among the different combinations of enhanced-phase MSCT scanning, triphasic MSCT imaging, comprising the arterial, portal venous, and delayed phases, showed the highest accuracy rates, at 81.6% (62/76), 82.89% (63/76), and 96.1% (73/76) for T, N, and M staging, respectively, with k values of 0.72, 0.65, and 0.56, respectively, indicating consistency with the postoperative pathological staging. CONCLUSIONS Combined MSCT scanning comprising the arterial phase, portal venous phase, and delayed phase showed satisfying consistency with the postoperative pathological analysis results for TNM staging of colorectal carcinoma. Thus, MSCT is an important clinical value for improving the accuracy of TNM staging and for planning the appropriate colorectal cancer treatment.
